Olise is wanted and could be part of a deal for Cody Gakpo.
Ta.
27 Feb 2026 00:03:19
He seems to have matured a lot with his decision making. Not sure if that is because it's the Bundesliga, but he didn't do too bad in his last season with Palace. I like him.
27 Feb 2026 00:23:26
Or just give them Gakpo.
27 Feb 2026 00:58:56
Olise and Diomande both will resolve the winger issues. Need 1 midfielder like Anderson or Wharton, and we will be good to go. Not many changes again, please.
27 Feb 2026 01:09:35
Signing Olise after landing Wirtz and Isak is elite stuff. Seriously hope we can pull this off. Cheers, Carra.
27 Feb 2026 04:49:18
That would be a serious move. I suppose that would put to bed the questions around playing with wingers or not etc., but I still think we require a top level midfield anchor.
27 Feb 2026 06:25:50
With the current trends in the Premier League, I can't see how we are going to play a system with 2 attack-minded fullbacks, 2 lightweight, not very mobile midfielders, Wirtz, 2 wingers, and either Isak or Ekitike, neither of whom is very good at pressing. It just won't work.
27 Feb 2026 07:30:07
Wow. Cheers, Carra. Yan Diomande on the left, rotating with Rio. Olise on the right, hopefully rotating with Joshua Abe (if he decides to stay), would be elite on the wingers front. Olise is world class, or thereabouts, imo. Adding the fact that we already have Isak, Wirtz, and Ekitike would make our team both a league and Champions League challenging team.
If we then go ahead and bring in Wharton and two centre backs on top of that, it would make it back-to-back great summer transfer windows.
27 Feb 2026 08:44:37
Best hope we get Champions League football for next season then?!
27 Feb 2026 08:46:02
Alonso, if Konate signs a new deal, we won't need any more centre-backs. A RB and LB cover if Robbo goes, and 2 midfielders if Endo, Macca, and Jones leave, plus the 2 wingers, and we are sorted, I reckon.
27 Feb 2026 08:57:28
We've got 2 right backs who are good enough to be starters, and Gomez as cover, not to mention kids coming through, and you want another for cover? You really do dream of a team of Carraghers.
27 Feb 2026 09:07:38
Cheers, Carra. Great news. Send Gakpo, a Starbar and a dodgy packet of Richmond cigarettes. Should be enough to get the deal done.
27 Feb 2026 09:33:07
Gakpo plus 35 mill is a great deal. We massively need creative wingers to complement Isak and Ekitike.
27 Feb 2026 09:41:04
Lots of sources are running with this in the last few hours. They must have been on here and read Carra's post! It would be a great signing.
27 Feb 2026 10:00:08
Indykaila had it up last night. Make of that what you will.
27 Feb 2026 04:32:06
Hey Carra,
Firstly, much appreciate all the information you repeatedly provide to this site.
This isn't a question for you but maybe one for the forum.
Objectively, I can't see how/why Bayern would sell Olise? Seems to be an important piece to their team. That makes me very sceptical even though Carra said "could be" part of a deal. I just don't see it.
Ed's? Any opinions on the matter?
{Ed001's Note - I would expect them to be open to selling for a profit as he can be upgraded upon.}
27 Feb 2026 07:57:03
Ed001 what's your thoughts on Wharton I think he is very good on the ball but for me the more I watch him the more I think he likes what we need in our midfield more pace and power.
I think in place of Gravenberch he would give us a lot better passing but Gravenberch definitely has more mobility and pace but still think our midfield with him added to the squad would be better but the balance would still feel disjointed.
Or do you think it would change if and when Slot leaves and a change of tactics and aggression to the team.
Because Mac Allister has been awful this season but first half of last season and season under Klopp he was not this bad.
{Ed001's Note - good player but he has regressed this season under the overrated one and I would avoid him. He is just another Mac Allister for me. Good enough to get in the squad, but not good enough to improve the team. Lacks aggression and bite, which is what we need.}
27 Feb 2026 10:52:08
Liverpool are not going to get one of Bayern's prime assets. Pointless even talking about it. Best to get Diomande and someone else; there are plenty of players out there for a much cheaper price.
27 Feb 2026 10:57:20
Hope we get a good price. I loathe the idea of spending something like 150m pound on two players, and then hope like heck they hit the ground running and never get injured.
27 Feb 2026 10:58:39
Ed1,
Do you rate Olise?
Always felt he was inconsistent and similar to Eze when at Palace, both lazy.
{Ed001's Note - I feel the same and I would prefer to avoid him.}
27 Feb 2026 11:52:35
I'm not Olise's biggest fan, but at 24, maybe with the right coach he can improve on his weaknesses. Can't imagine many would improve under Vincent Kompany.
27 Feb 2026 12:08:30
Not sure that I'd want Olive - there's no wow factor as far as I can see. @Postklopp, I guess you thought Wirtz would be off to Bayern Munich last summer?
27 Feb 2026 14:43:52
Hi Ed's1
Can't I ask you who would you like to replace Salah.?
{Ed001's Note - yes, you can ask if you want mate.}
27 Feb 2026 14:58:57
Scouse John, we have a right-back who's hardly ever fit, and Gomez, who covers cb and rb, who's also never fit and needs to be sold, and no youngsters to cover. That leaves just Frimpong, who can cover both right-back and right wing. I personally prefer him further forward. As for lb, pre-season will decide if we need cover to replace Robbo.
27 Feb 2026 16:37:08
Eds1 haha. Who would you like to replace Salah?
{Ed001's Note - honestly mate, I have absolutely no idea. I have not really seen anyone who stands out at all.}
28 Feb 2026 07:53:22
And, of course, not even Salah stood out before signing him as a one-season wonder.
26 Feb 2026 17:27:11
Looks like there could be some big name players leaving Chelsea this summer.
26 Feb 2026 18:26:02
They have about 174 players, so I'm sure they can make some cuts to their squad without having to sell key players.
26 Feb 2026 18:27:47
There are a couple of contrasting articles on this. Another states: sources within Chelsea say that, as a result of their accounting clean-up, the club is now profitable on an operating basis, and they are aligned with UEFA's financial framework. The source added their squad cost ratio should sit comfortably within UEFA thresholds, which are considered stricter than the Premier League's, and they expect to meet all the obligations of their existing settlement agreement with European football's governing body.
As always, time will tell.
26 Feb 2026 18:35:23
Half of those 174 players are on 15 year contracts.
26 Feb 2026 18:53:24
We'll take Estavao and Caicedo off them if they need some money.
26 Feb 2026 19:29:50
As clueless as ever. I'm no fan of the Chelsea boys, but they will be fine, unfortunately. They would deserve everything they got for their fans' behaviour, whilst complaining when songs are sung about them.
26 Feb 2026 20:26:44
Speaking of Chelsea, they've got some tough games coming up and will drop points. Hopefully, we can get a few wins and create a gap.
26 Feb 2026 21:41:02
Agreed, they've the hardest run in of the teams going for top 5.
26 Feb 2026 22:52:37
Fun fact, if you multiply the number of players Chelsea have by their salaries, and then multiply it again by the length of their contracts, your calculator explodes.
27 Feb 2026 06:58:06
I wonder if they are planning to sell the players back to Chelsea. They'll make a tidy profit.
27 Feb 2026 17:11:12
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a big name, it's got 18 letters.
25 Feb 2026 16:54:36
Read on BBC Juventus are interested in Alisson. Would you think, considering we bought Marma and Jaros looks impressive (although not sure how serious his injury is) we'd sell? Italian clubs don't like to pay much for players though.
25 Feb 2026 17:29:31
I personally think we should keep him until his contract runs out in '27. Mamardashvili hasn't impressed me, and Jaros, as you say, has the unfortunate injury.
25 Feb 2026 17:33:54
I was thinking we would sell Marma in the summer, take the extension option we have in Alisson's contract, and go with Jaros (homegrown) as backup. We could also potentially extend Woodman (homegrown) for another year as third choice. Sounds like Jaros's injury could be pretty bad, so that ends that idea. I don't think Marma is good enough with his feet to be a Liverpool keeper.
And, honestly, I haven't been that impressed with his shotstopping either. I suspect we can turn a quick profit on him and look to bring someone else in. Robin Risser of Lens is the hottest name in the young goalkeeper market at the moment. Spurs and Newcastle want him.
25 Feb 2026 18:03:16
Can't sell Alisson.
25 Feb 2026 18:28:09
I would say Alisson and Big Virg are the two non-negotiable must-keeps. I would say we could find replacements elsewhere in the team, but to replace these two, ouchie. I can't think of a keeper I would want between the sticks over Alisson. He is elite and stands out in world football.
25 Feb 2026 19:10:52
Hey @Kloppiche, how do you get BBC Juventus? Is it on iPlayer?
25 Feb 2026 19:34:14
Agreed MightyReds and Scouse John.
26 Feb 2026 00:18:48
Gotta keep Alisson. Despite him missing a few games each season, he is still the best keeper in the world or at least in the top 3.
26 Feb 2026 03:11:04
Rekon we keep Alisson and let him go for free, or extend him and then let him go for free.
26 Feb 2026 03:55:03
It sounded like Pecsi was the long-term solution when we signed him?
26 Feb 2026 05:41:42
I believe Pesci was let go because he kept trying to break into Mac Alister's house. Apparently, he kept mistaking Alexis for his brother.
26 Feb 2026 07:58:10
More than happy to end the Klopp era and move on from Alisson, VVD and Salah this summer. 100%.
26 Feb 2026 08:28:29
He's only 33, he's got at least 3-4 years left in him.
26 Feb 2026 09:14:10
Comment of the day to Petethepool, top notch!
26 Feb 2026 11:50:49
Selling Ali would be a huge mistake.
26 Feb 2026 13:06:55
I don't rate Marma either. I like Jaros though!
26 Feb 2026 14:20:16
As good as Ali is, and he is the best, his injury record is a concern. Age is not a factor at the moment in terms of performance, but it may become more of a factor with injuries. So there is some succession planning to be done. I really don't pay much attention to rumours involving top players moving to Italy, the clubs are not able to compete with the PL in terms of wages.
If Ali moves, I would expect it will be at the end of his contract, for either one last big payday, or to a club like Barca/RM/Flamengo on a free transfer.
26 Feb 2026 16:07:41
Isn't Pesci only 5 ft 4, or am I thinking of someone else?
{Ed025's Note - im not sure Rome...i will ask my cousin Vinny.. :)
26 Feb 2026 17:26:29
Good one, Ed! You're a good fella. Hope you're well, mate.
{Ed025's Note - cheers Rome, im good thanks mate..
26 Feb 2026 18:42:04
Ed0025, "You amuse us." *wink* Hope all is well. KC.
{Ed025's Note - thanks KC, i have to try and lighten the mood mate as it can be a bit miserable on here at times.. :) the winkmeister..
26 Feb 2026 18:43:24
I think everyone loves Ed25.
{Ed025's Note - and i can feel that love Ace..cheers..
26 Feb 2026 20:21:50
Sell Ali? Why? Who are we getting who is better.
26 Feb 2026 21:08:12
Allison is the last player that I would sell. Even Klopp couldn't win anything at LFC until we signed Ali.
25 Feb 2026 10:19:04
Hello all,
Bit of an update.
New contracts for Ibou Konate and Dom Szoboszlai are progressing well.
Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo are very likely to leave at the end of the season.
Yan Diomande has made it clear, Liverpool is his number 1 choice and he is Liverpool's number 1 target.
Price seen as achievable due to good relations between Leipzig and LFC.
Ta.
25 Feb 2026 10:28:40
That's a fantastic update. Thank you, Carra.
25 Feb 2026 10:30:07
Cheers, Carra. Unfortunately for Salah, his legs have gone due to age. He has been a legend, but his time to move on has come. As for Gakpo, I have never been a fan, so glad to hear we are looking to move him on. Diomande does look like a talent!
25 Feb 2026 10:36:47
God bless ya, Carra.
25 Feb 2026 10:42:11
That's pretty good news all round. Cheers, Carra. Do you know of anyone of interest for midfield at all? We definitely need a strong, no-nonsense machine in there.
25 Feb 2026 10:44:23
Thank you for the update, hopefully all happens!
25 Feb 2026 10:53:36
Thanks a lot. What about Gakpo?
25 Feb 2026 11:05:19
Really positive to hear that Szobo and Konate are progressing well with new contracts. If we do go on to sell Gakpo and Salah, it would effectively mean we would need to bring in 3/4 new wide attackers. Plus whatever other work needs to be done around other positions or squad players.
Unless, of course, we plan to move away from the 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 system, but as we know from the Prem, having effective wide attackers is very important for breaking down teams.
25 Feb 2026 11:20:42
Cheers for the update, Carra. I just wondered if you have heard any more on the manager situation?
25 Feb 2026 11:22:52
That is good news. Diomande looks like he will be a serious player! It will be interesting to see who else we bring in if both Gakpo and Salah do leave. Is Fofana still an option, or will we go with somebody with more experience to help Rio develop? We appear to have been talking to Sallai, from what his dad is saying.
He can play RB, RW, LB & LW, but he feels more like an Endo kind of signing, in that he has good experience and can cover multiple positions, but is unlikely to play on a regular basis (unless covering at RB).
25 Feb 2026 11:34:10
That would be a good signing. With so many players leaving, we'll probably need 5-7 new signings. Do you have any idea which players we're tracking? Thanks for sharing as always.
25 Feb 2026 11:39:10
Thanks very much, Carra. Much appreciated as always.
25 Feb 2026 11:49:15
Well, if Gakpo and Salah are likely to leave, and presumably Chiesa as well, we will need 3 new wingers in the summer. I suppose a new Konate contract negates the need for another cb after Jacquet, but we will need a Robbo replacement, potentially a new rb, a midfielder to replace Endo, and another one to replace Jones / Mac Allister, with one of them definitely leaving.
That is a huge amount of work to do again.
25 Feb 2026 12:24:25
Diomande and Fofana would be a good start, plus Ekitike can play wide.
25 Feb 2026 12:34:43
Cheers, Carra. Thanks for the update.
25 Feb 2026 12:36:30
Thanks, Carra. Let's hope the club doesn't mess this one up and rest on their laurels. Cheers Drogie.
25 Feb 2026 12:37:48
Hmm, do we really want Konate on a new contract? I guess it saves us signing a new player, but damn, has his form been horrific for an extended amount of time.
25 Feb 2026 12:53:27
Great news. Cheers, Carra. Have you heard anything about this Hungarian (yes, another one) winger we've supposedly been looking at? I think he plays for Galatasaray.
25 Feb 2026 13:06:51
Hope you've nailed it again, Carra. I'd be happy with all that, but would also like a more established winger coming into his prime, as we need one and it sounds like we're losing two. Plus, I think add Chiesa to this. Otherwise, unless I'm wrong, we would be left with Rio and Frimpong as cover (bought in as RB) and this new untried young winger.
25 Feb 2026 13:19:29
I think it's really odd that after a clear and specific update from somebody who has proved very reliable in recent times, people start asking questions about other areas, eg in this instance CM and manager. Do people think that Carra would have just forgotten to tell us?
25 Feb 2026 13:20:56
Thanks, Carra. Your info is always appreciated.
25 Feb 2026 13:25:56
Konate's been better in the past few weeks, but he's still worryingly rash. He's too good to lose for free, but are we really happy with the prospect of him being first choice for the foreseeable?
25 Feb 2026 13:59:03
Thanks for the update. So, if it all happens, and with Chiesa most likely gone too, we have: Diomade, Isak, Salah replacement, Rio, Ekitke, Frimpong? Are we happy with Rio as backup, and do we need another 1 or 2 on the rw?
25 Feb 2026 14:28:56
I know a lot of people will probably shut me down, but I think we will target Gordon to replace Gakpo.
25 Feb 2026 14:57:20
Lot of change. Chiesa just can't be at the club another season, so if him, Mo and Gakpo all leave I fear for us next season. Not to say they haven't been terrible, but we would literally be starting from scratch.
25 Feb 2026 15:08:03
Cheers, Carra. All seems plausible. I would say that if we do lose Cody and Mo, as well as the Chiesa, we probably need more than Diomande. A lot of change - again!
25 Feb 2026 15:10:51
Gordon & Diomande to replace Gakpo, Mo and Freddy Chiesa?
25 Feb 2026 15:32:30
Please not Gordon, nearly as good as Tom Daley tho.
25 Feb 2026 15:39:04
Cheers, Carra. Great news. I know Konate was awful for a few weeks, but maybe his father was the worry. My take is that Konate will mature and develop into a top class centre back. Please bring in a top, solid right back. We really need Szob in midfield; otherwise, midfield is a joke without him.
25 Feb 2026 16:16:22
I think the English tax makes it a bit more of a bad deal. No doubt a decent player, but if he wasn't English, he would be circa £40-50 million. For our setup and the English need, it would have made more sense to keep Morton & Quansah - perhaps buy backs on those depending on who leaves.
25 Feb 2026 16:45:08
Cheers, Cara. That's good news. So no doubt we'll all get to see him next season playing for Man City. 😂
25 Feb 2026 17:10:18
Thanks, Carra, but on behalf of Gopro (10:53am), have you any news on Szoz and Ibou?
25 Feb 2026 17:21:57
Thanks, Carra, I so hope all of that is true.
25 Feb 2026 17:59:47
Hopefully you're spot on, Carra. 42 likes on your post all think you're correct.
25 Feb 2026 19:01:50
Until this season, the only complaint people had with Konate was his injury record. He wasn't rash or clumsy. This season, he was all over the place until the death of his father. Maybe, just maybe, he was dealing with horrible stuff in the lead-up to his Dad's death? He has been pretty great since he came back into the team.
{Ed001's Note - that is not true. He has always been rash and clumsy and it has always been a complaint.}
25 Feb 2026 19:20:01
Brilliant if we get him. I still think Salah and Gakpo would do well in a suitable system, but we could get decent money for both, I suppose. Assuming Chiesa also moves on, could we see a move to a narrower system? It's not all that wild, really.
Klopp's width was always mainly via the fullbacks, with Salah and Mane cutting in. Still need at least one midfield destroyer, though.
25 Feb 2026 19:39:14
I like the news of Sobz and Yan. I certainly don't like that news of Konate. I've already expressed my opinion on him and it hasn't changed. Terrible decision by the club unless they plan on selling him onward at some point!
26 Feb 2026 11:33:13
Diomande will end up at City then, nailed on if his only choice is Liverpool.
26 Feb 2026 20:22:41
Refuse to believe Salah's legs are gone until Slot is gone.
24 Feb 2026 19:35:52
Ben Jacobs has reported that we hold a concrete interest in Morgan Rodgers.
80m is the price tag apparently.
24 Feb 2026 20:15:56
Is that so Szobo can remain as our RB?
24 Feb 2026 20:24:53
That would only make sense if we are selling Szobo. So I wouldn't want it, to be honest.
24 Feb 2026 20:44:30
Even if we sold Szob, it wouldn't make sense. We spent a bomb on Wirtz; where would Rogers even play? Avoid for me.
24 Feb 2026 20:46:41
I do reckon we'll sign an English player in summer, simply because it looks like Gomez and Jones might be off. Not sure it'll be Rogers though, even though he's a top player.
24 Feb 2026 21:01:12
Elliot Anderson would be a good start.
24 Feb 2026 21:21:39
Wouldn't mind Rodgers and Wirtz dovetailing between the left and the No.10 position if we had real pace on the right.
24 Feb 2026 21:44:54
Wish we'd bought Rogers last summer instead of spending £125m on Isak tbh. He and Wirtz can definitely dovetail nicely between the lw and 10. Get someone with electric pace on the rw, like Diomande, and we'll fly. That said, I think this interest is old news, and he's unlikely to be a key target for this summer.
24 Feb 2026 22:50:19
Rogers makes absolutely zero sense. Wirtz & Szoboszlai are both attacking midfielders, so there is no point signing another one. He's not a winger, and he doesn't have the flat-out pace that we're lacking. Plus, Villa will ask a lot more than £80m.
25 Feb 2026 01:53:08
£80, 000, 001? A quad more than the release clause.
25 Feb 2026 03:27:29
Stobo could be going to Real Madrid. Take care!
25 Feb 2026 07:39:49
'A concrete interest'??? That sounds heavy, man!!
25 Feb 2026 07:51:43
Do we know if Ben Jacobs is in the know?
25 Feb 2026 08:02:59
Ben Jacobs is a cracker of a journalist. He's a big cheese who relishes breaking imaginary exclusives.
25 Feb 2026 08:22:55
The release clause is said to be £100m, which is a lot for a player we really have no use for.
25 Feb 2026 11:41:01
"Rogers makes absolutely zero sense." He's homegrown, and we have a problem there. He can play anywhere across the 3 in a 4-2-3-1. He scores goals. He's a quality player. Makes plenty of sense.
25 Feb 2026 13:22:49
People tend to wheel out the HG numbers as a problem from time to time, but I can't remember the last time that we started a match with less than 11 players.
25 Feb 2026 19:07:44
Nice one, Barnsey. I agree. Jacobs is top level. You could say he is the cream of the sports writing world.
24 Feb 2026 18:51:12
I've heard that both Thiago Alcantara and Adam Lallana, were sounded out at various points this season, to see if they were interested in joining the coaching staff, no idea if it was intended for this season or future, any truth in this?
24 Feb 2026 21:03:47
Dunno about those 2, Lennon11, but I'd love to see Milly back at the club.
24 Feb 2026 23:07:33
Milly is still playing, mate, so almost no chance he'll join our coaching team. At the rate he's going, it'll be about 10 more years before he finally decides to retire. ;)
25 Feb 2026 13:07:17
I like the idea of Lallana! He was a very gifted player. Tragic with his injuries. I always thought he was one or two passes ahead of Milner and Henderson. He read the game wonderfully well. I think he would have been better with higher-level players around him.
I love Henderson and Milner, by the way. No-nonsense midfielders. But if Lallana, Gerrard and Xabi were a midfield 3, ooooo hello. Now, if he could be half a decent coach by getting that into players, then happy days.
24 Feb 2026 12:22:57
Bayern are belived to want gapko for 65 million.
I have told LFC ill have the car ready whenever they need it.
Apparently Yan Diomede has told them he isn't interested in the move there hence the switch to CG. Bayern believe LFC have an agreement for YD.
24 Feb 2026 13:36:49
Are they already looking for a replacement for Diaz?
24 Feb 2026 14:13:42
He has probably had his old man and agent sniffing around Barca again, Ship.
24 Feb 2026 15:12:35
The original article came out a few days ago, from a very unreliable source called "Bayern Space", and it's been rehashed several times by some tabloids. Let's not pretend you are ITK. You are just spreading a false rumour.
24 Feb 2026 15:17:55
Bayern Space was the first to mention Liverpool in the Wirtz saga, so I wouldn't say he's not reliable, but best to take it all as rumours rather than fact.
24 Feb 2026 15:20:17
I do wish the OP had added their source, however, Bayern Space has been pretty reliable in the recent past - they called out that Wirtz had chosen Liverpool over Bayern well before it was widely known last summer, for example. So, I'd say they have proven pretty reliable on rumours involving Bayern (unsurprisingly!)
24 Feb 2026 15:59:58
According to Transfermarkt, Diaz and Gakpo played together 74 times for Liverpool in the three and a half years they overlapped. That is not a small number of games, considering Diaz had blown his knee out when Gakpo arrived. I don't see why it is confusing for some people that Bayern would want both players when they've actually got a proven track record of performing well together.
In fact, I think they both looked at their best for us when they started together. The most fluent regular front 3 we've had since Salah, Firmino and Mane were in their pomp was when Gakpo, Diaz and Salah led the line together last season on several occasions.
24 Feb 2026 16:23:13
GoPro, at no point did I say I was ITK and I don't claim to be. I read an article and just shared the rumour. Wind your neck in!
24 Feb 2026 16:24:44
Zed, it was from Bayern Space, pal.
24 Feb 2026 19:51:40
GoPro, stop ruining a dream. This is the best rumour in a while.
24 Feb 2026 20:17:27
Why all the Gakpo disrespect?
24 Feb 2026 20:33:49
How long you got, Jake - grab a chair.
24 Feb 2026 10:33:57
"Emile Heskey has 'Earmarked' Kvaratskhelia as a potential Mo Salah replacement"
If only big Emile was in charge 😂.
24 Feb 2026 11:47:10
No way we are paying those wages.
24 Feb 2026 13:07:31
Good man Emile, any chance of Hakimi for RB as well?
24 Feb 2026 16:42:08
Florian, despite the obvious wages and potential price, he has a court case first. If guilty, it will be a no. He is innocent until proven guilty. I must add that. Do you think Slot would allow him to be adventurous playing for us?
24 Feb 2026 17:28:19
Would you not? Is Slot like Jose Mourinho now, where the fullbacks aren't allowed to cross the halfway line? I've seen plenty of attacking intent from Bradley, Frimpong and Kerkez this season.
24 Feb 2026 18:48:25
Here he is, Slot's biggest fan, Florian. Yet we dwindle in 6th.
24 Feb 2026 20:20:43
Really, Frode, are we 6th? I wouldn't have known if you didn't mention it in every post you brighten up our day with.
23 Feb 2026 11:33:11
Hello all,
I fully anticipate Curtis Jones to depart the club this summer. He has a number of suitors around Europe and England. Inter and Atletico both hold a strong interest in particular.
We have been scouting a number of potential replacements to prepare for this move.
23 Feb 2026 12:27:22
If he wants more first-team football than we can offer him, I can understand why he would want to leave. From a fan and club standpoint, it would be a shame to lose the last Scouser in our first-team squad.
23 Feb 2026 12:29:44
We will miss him when he's gone. Interesting and big summer ahead. Ar, Konate (maybe), Salah, Jones, Gakpo (?), Endo (?), Mac Allister, maybe others - all to go. At least 2 (3?) CBs needed as well. Another striker?
23 Feb 2026 12:35:38
Jurg, we have Leoni and Jacquet to come in at cb, so with Gomez, Vvd and Konate, that should be enough without departures. This has to be the end for Salah. His output and general play have fallen off the cliff, legend no doubt, but time has caught him up. Same for Robbo.
23 Feb 2026 12:36:01
Is this from a credible source?
23 Feb 2026 12:44:38
Yeah, forgot Jaquet, tbh, but VVD (age), Gomez (love him, but injuries), and Konate (contract) make for a very shaky future.
23 Feb 2026 13:15:11
We need a mid-20s starter at CB, someone that can come in, ready to go. Buying up young talent is great, but that is for the future. Cheers.
23 Feb 2026 13:16:35
Virg has years left in him. Think striker is one position we're sorted in.
23 Feb 2026 13:30:23
I would be absolutely gutted if that happens with Curtis. What a complete waste. Hoping a new manager in the summer would be busy, use the time to get the pathway back in place for the other younger players, too.
23 Feb 2026 13:52:42
Sad, he might not be the best, but it should be mandatory to have at least 5 locals in your squad.
23 Feb 2026 14:13:50
Hmmm. Unsure about his pending departure, tbh. CJ is a player that's never going to set the PL on fire, nor be a first-choice regular in a top-level team, but he has commitment, especially as he is LFC born and bred. He is able to fill in different roles as required, he's a good age, experienced, has a good appearance record, and is not injury prone, so he's more than likely always available.
He reminds me a bit of John O'Shea at United, a kind of multi-purpose player. We can't, nor will we, have 6 top-class midfielders vying for 3 starting places, and we need the CJ-type players in the squad. He has his frailties, as everyone has, but he also has attributes, and I believe he still has a role in the squad. Just my opinion.
23 Feb 2026 14:18:11
It's a shame that 'a local lad' will be leaving. But I can't remember too many games where my mates and I were talking about how well he played. He takes too long on the ball. I do think he played better under Klopp, but I don't think we will miss him too much. £35 million ish, I reckon.
23 Feb 2026 14:25:30
Victor, would this suggest Arne is here to stay, as it seems like he may be the issue following some other comments, or is this purely financial, with the club requiring pure profit for PSR, which, as we've seen throughout the league, comes from homegrown sales?
23 Feb 2026 14:43:20
Just my opinion, but I would be really surprised if Arne Slot does not leave at the end of the season, if not before. Seems to me that he has not impressed after a great first season. He will no doubt get another coaching job. Maybe in Europe rather than the EPL. Very few could take on the Liverpool job and do what Klopp did.
Enrique, Xabi, and maybe, in time, Iraola. As a really left-field alternative, Pep. Pretty sure he would love the opportunity, though he might be nearing the point of being burnt out. Anyway, it's Xabi for me. The prospect of that excites me in the same way I was relishing Klopp coming to Anfield.
23 Feb 2026 15:17:34
If Jones wasn't from Liverpool, no one would care, as he is at best an above-average player. He is not a leader like Gerard; there is no call for him to be captain or even to be a regular starter. So, if LFC can get a good fee, I'd like to see it reinvested in a better player.
23 Feb 2026 15:28:43
That would be a Curtis blow. He needs the breaks anyways.
23 Feb 2026 15:34:43
Alex4, Arne here or not, the plan was always to let him go in the summer. There's no desire to offer a new contract on the club's end, at least one that's worth the player considering. It's not just related to on the pitch issues either, though. There have been off-the-pitch issues arising, too.
23 Feb 2026 16:01:16
Good squad player, no more, too inconsistent. When he heads on, moves the ball quickly, outstanding. I feel he gets overconfident and dwells on it then. I personally would love him to stay.
23 Feb 2026 16:07:35
Cheers, Victor. You don't need to go into detail, but when you say off the field issues, would these off the field issues be separate from him apparently having some bust-up with Arne Slot?
23 Feb 2026 16:21:47
Shame, Victor, as he did have some form early in the season. I suspect his interviews during our poor form probably came from his frustrations with whatever is going on behind the scenes. Whilst I do think we can certainly improve, it will be a shame to see another local lad gone.
23 Feb 2026 16:52:46
I hope he stays. When was the last time a scouser wasn't in the team?
23 Feb 2026 17:13:56
Alonso1786, no, these other issues are totally separate from the rumoured bust up with Slot. Senior figures in the dressing room aren't all too impressed, from what I know.
23 Feb 2026 17:19:57
I'm easy either way on Jones. Happy with him being a squad player, but if he wants to be a starter, then it's never going to be at Liverpool, so good luck to him.
23 Feb 2026 17:20:41
Why do people hold the view that the starting 11 is all we need? We need players in a squad that can step up and do a job in the case of injury, suspension, or loss of form on the part of regular starters. Curtis, Chiesa, Endo, etc.
don't start every or even many games, but they are just as important as regular starters for us having a strong squad overall. With 60+ games a season, it would be ridiculous to imagine we only need 11 starters.
23 Feb 2026 18:52:25
Never Jones's biggest fan, I'll admit that, but as a squad player he's of decent quality. Still don't know his preference on position. Certainly likes to pass the ball backwards and overplay. If he wants regular game time, he'll have to go, and I hope the club don't overprice him either.
He's never going to be a full-time 1st-team starter, though. Very surprised the club would look to get rid of him now, though. A few years too late for me. Good luck to the lad. He's a mid Premier League player at best. Maybe Leeds would suit him.
23 Feb 2026 18:57:14
After watching Curtis's first-half performance, I think in his head he has already gone.
23 Feb 2026 19:09:39
From Curtis's point of view, a move to Italy would be good for him. I believe a slower tempo league would be much better suited to his style of play, and it would probably suit our current manager to move to Italy, when I think about it.
23 Feb 2026 19:23:31
Does he like Italy as a place to live then? Given he'll be playing football for @3 hours a week?
23 Feb 2026 21:27:49
Although I like having a Scouser in the squad, and we need HG players in the squad, too, the ludicrous thing about FFP rules is that financially it makes more sense to sell players who have come through the academy. Whatever we receive for CJ would be pure profit. If it meant we could get Wharton from Palace, I'd do it.
23 Feb 2026 22:31:26
Curtis Jones is Liverpool's worst player in the first team squad, and I'll take him to whatever club wants him. I think he relies on being Scouse and takes it because he thinks he deserves to be in the squad/team. I would rather academy players were given minutes over Jones.
23 Feb 2026 23:40:51
I really hope that's not the case. I think it would be a massive blunder by the club. Either way, it looks like significant churn is almost guaranteed again this summer. I just hope we've got the proverbial paddle for Champions League football when we have to navigate it.
24 Feb 2026 01:45:50
Jones is average. He is very inconsistent, too, and doesn't score nearly enough goals for me. He would be suited to Spain or Italy in my opinion. Nice lad, but not LFC quality, and I would snap ya hand off for £45-50m.
24 Feb 2026 08:07:57
I don't think Jones does enough defensively for me. He's always a liability when we're out of possession, as his positional sense is non-existent. He's not alert to what's going on around him, and has a tendency to switch off. He gets caught ball watching rather than tracking runners, so, to me, he's not really much of a centre midfielder, as he can't do the basics when we're being pressured or if we're up against a more physical opponent.
If the rumour is true about him wanting £200k a week and being a more regular starter, then I'd sell. With due respect, he's not good enough to warrant that kind of wages or be an automatic starter.
24 Feb 2026 09:32:58
Robbo, Gomez, Jones, Nyoni, etc. Next season, it is seriously looking like the only British/Irish players we'll have left in the first team will be Woodman (3rd keeper), Bradley (injured), and Ngumoha (17 years old).
Is it any wonder we get bullied when we come up against the likes of Newcastle, Forest and Palace, who are packed full of British/Irish players who get stuck into our foreign contingent?
24 Feb 2026 09:48:16
He lasted as long as he did, and has never been good enough, nor been any coach's love boy. It is quite amazing. He is a nice person to have around in the team, but he is never going to become good enough.
I wish him luck if that happens. Would we miss him? I had felt that we would not miss TAA, but, looking back, that was foolish, as we clearly do. But with Jones, I am more certain we will not.
24 Feb 2026 10:10:40
I don't see Jones going anywhere. He has a young family, is from the city, and loves the club. Those who don't rate him don't seem to realise a squad isn't made up of world beaters. He's home-grown too. I'd be more worried about keeping him than Macca, that's for sure.
24 Feb 2026 10:45:11
He used to bang on about more playing time under Klopp. This has not changed under Slot. I assume, like Harvey, he wants to play more, so let him leave, but again, like Harvey, the grass is not always greener on the other side, and no doubt he will be benched a lot at a lesser club.
I would much rather be a cameo player at my boyhood club than among average players at a team like Spursy.
24 Feb 2026 13:14:15
Does the hierarchy have any sort of plan to have the designated amount of HG players in the squad.
24 Feb 2026 13:32:25
This is why we don't want to wait until the summer for a new manager. Slot is killing morale at all levels.
24 Feb 2026 14:00:16
The thing is, Jerry, it's not about wanting "world class performers" throughout the squad. It's about having players who can be competent and step up every time they're called upon, and be 6 or 7 out of 10, like how Milner used to be.
I'm afraid Jones just isn't that guy. He has more poor games than good ones, and I'm sure there are others in the u23's who could be more effective at giving squad depth (Luca Stephenson, for example).
24 Feb 2026 18:30:50
Jones has been competent at stepping up. That's the point. At the moment, he should be starting over Macca.
23 Feb 2026 10:27:02
James William reporting positive breakthrough talks with Konate contract negotiations.
Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
23 Feb 2026 10:58:04
His level has clearly gone up since coming back after his father's death. He's never going to be world class, but I wouldn't be that disappointed if he stuck around whilst these new young lads settle into the club. He could potentially then be sold in a year or two.
23 Feb 2026 11:26:23
He's a mercenary. Can't help feeling he's raised his level after Madrid turned away.
23 Feb 2026 11:44:23
I think his recent level is back to his best, similar to last season when he was integral to a title-winning team. Not too sure what happened with his father, however, for all we know it could have been something that has been affecting Konate throughout the season. This is paired with the manager consistently making comments about any mistake he made in a game, to try and hide the fact that his tactics were as bad as some of the individual errors.
We quite clearly need more depth in the squad, and I think finding a right-sided centre back who has the attributes Konate has may be more difficult than some people believe.
23 Feb 2026 12:38:29
BC - His level has probably gone up a notch or two since the obvious stress of his father's illness & subsequent passing. How are we to know what the guy's been going through these past months? If he's on form, he's a decent quality centre half, and, like Alex said, he's been integral in trophy-winning sides over the past number of seasons.
I wouldn't be too unhappy if he signed an extension.
23 Feb 2026 12:43:22
I think that's a bit unfair, BalloonCack, as we have no idea how long his father was ill and how much of a drain it was on him. I think him, Virgil, Leoni and Jacket look like 4 good options at CB (assuming the youngsters recover from their injuries).
23 Feb 2026 13:32:38
Honestly, I think Arne Slot is the problem; many players look worse under him. I'd be happy to keep him on a reasonable salary while the younger defenders get game time and develop.
23 Feb 2026 14:17:27
I'd sell him in the morning, tbh. He's an accident waiting to happen. He doesn't instill confidence, and that must permeate through the backline and goalie.
23 Feb 2026 17:25:08
Nice to see the support for a player whose dad has just passed away. YNWA eh? To describe him as mercenary is laughable. He's a professional doing a job, and, like most of us, he wants what's best for himself in terms of his career and wage.
23 Feb 2026 19:43:34
As someone who lost my father a year ago, gone Saturday, I can tell you from my perspective that I was a f****** mess. I don't know Ibou's circumstances, but my father had a drawn out illness that affected me and my family in more ways than I realised. For quite a while, I struggled to concentrate on anything, my work, my relationships, hell, even a TV program!I suppose what I'm trying to say is just give the lad a bit of slack.
I was a f****** nightmare for my friends and family, and I wasn't in the public eye as a prem player, it's pressure, and we all cope differently. I was a huge critic of him until I heard about his dad, then I suddenly got it.It's rough, man. His performances have massively improved. I personally hope we can come to an arrangement with him. That's just my 2 bits worth.
{Ed025's Note - a powerful perspective there TME, kudos mate..
23 Feb 2026 21:56:03
For clarity, and with all due respect to his personal circumstances, my stated opinion isn't just related to his recent performances. He's never been a really top level defender imo. He's been an adequate companion for VVD, but VVD does the majority of the heavy lifting in that partnership.
23 Feb 2026 22:31:08
Fans in general need to be more empathetic towards players. I was seeing loads of criticism of Ekitike too yesterday, with people forgetting he's been fasting all day and trying to play a sport at an elite level. There are fine margins, and these guys are human at the end of the day.
24 Feb 2026 01:23:50
Konate is a solid #2. It doesn't change that we need a VVD replacement at some point, because Konate ain't that guy.
24 Feb 2026 08:04:18
The chap who was formerly a Price is also a solid #2.
22 Feb 2026 12:28:46
Joshua Abe has been offered just under £40, 000 a week at Man City. If Liverpool don't match it he is gone which is unlikely.
Just passing on what I've been told.
YNWA.
22 Feb 2026 12:53:45
There's no way even City would offer a kid 40k pw at 15. That's insanity. I hope that is not true, otherwise it would really set a very bad precedent.
22 Feb 2026 12:56:09
40 grand a week for a 15-year-old is just crazy. No doubt his parents will be looked after too. No way are we matching that. Good luck to him if he goes there.
22 Feb 2026 13:07:12
That's not true.
22 Feb 2026 13:29:50
Can a 15 yr old sign a 40k pw contract, or any professional contract?
22 Feb 2026 13:40:16
I think players need to be 17 before they can sign a pro contract. Max Dowman is on £350 a week, but has a pre-contract signed, so when he turns 17, he will get £35k a week.
22 Feb 2026 13:47:33
This is untrue. He won't sign a professional deal until 17. A lot of clubs then cap the wages for the first year. Someone is having you on, Sami. If he doesn't sign the offered scholarship deal by June 1st, he can talk to other clubs.
22 Feb 2026 13:47:44
I smell BS, another ITK.
22 Feb 2026 14:12:58
There's no such thing as a 'pre-contract' in English law. Presumably you mean a conditional contract.
22 Feb 2026 14:58:24
I am not trying to present myself as an ITK. I am simply sharing information that was given to me directly by someone working at City. The figure is £36, 000 per week, to be exact. City are currently progressing through the formal five-step process, and are confident. As an example, Rio previously agreed a £27, 000 per week with us - the deal became active on his 17th birthday.
That structure is completely normal and standard within the regulations. I have worked at academy level and now operate within a senior setup, so I am familiar with how these processes work in practice. Ultimately, it comes down to whether Liverpool choose to match the offer. The idea of a strict Liverpool academy wage cap is overstated. It has been exceeded before for elite level prospects.
22 Feb 2026 15:01:29
I did read that he was intentionally stalling on signing his scholarship during the week. If there have been as many issues with Slot and the academy as rumoured, I wouldn't be surprised if he decides another club would be best for furthering his career. He's highly sought-after and has no loyalty to us, apparently he's an Arsenal fan. D-day - No, pro contracts are for 17yrs and up. Scholarship contracts for U16, but clubs can add "pro" style terms onto scholarship contracts for players deemed to be exceptional prospects.
40k seems highly unlikely at 15, but I'm certain City would have no issue offering him a hell of a lot more than what we are. He could have been sold the promise of 40k when he turns 17, and be well taken care of in the meantime, or a deal worth 40k between his pay, accommodation, parents, travel costs, etc.
22 Feb 2026 15:02:52
Cheers for the clarification, Sami.
22 Feb 2026 15:05:00
Rio is on £52k a year plus bonuses.
22 Feb 2026 15:13:18
Ernest, Capology is not reliable. As we have seen before, including with the figures around Luis Diaz's deal, they are wrong. My information on Rio comes directly from his agent and people at the club.
If you genuinely believe he turned down significant offers from Chelsea and Manchester City to sign for £1, 000 a week, that is your view. I just do not think that reflects how these situations happen.
22 Feb 2026 15:22:30
My information comes from Liverpool, as a club, having a salary cap on the first year as a professional. This is the reason Nyoni signed an improved deal a year after his first professional contract.
22 Feb 2026 15:32:23
Agree to disagree. That's the biggest myth.
22 Feb 2026 16:19:02
Thanks for the rumour, Sami. I'm a proud IKFA, so I won't comment on the believability of it. But, imo, if he wants to leave us for 40k per week, then he can go. I can't recall a single youth player who has fulfilled their potential after getting a mega deal like that at a young age.
They usually lose their appetite to improve, and think they have already made it. If he does leave us for that kind of money, I think he'd end up the same way as either Tom Ince or Bobby Duncan; loads of potential but ultimately unfulfilled.
22 Feb 2026 16:55:16
I agree, the biggest figure I have consistently heard this time is £36k. Before this, the largest academy number I had personally been told about was Christensen at Chelsea being given £30k a week. City are going extremely aggressive for the top prospects at the moment. McAidoo was offered a substantial package as well, including strong sign on terms. The numbers across the top 6 right now are huge. Personally, I think the Premier League needs to look at introducing a proper cap, because the sums being discussed are getting out of control. On Will Wright, he is not on £1k a week. I actually wish Rio was on £1k, but that is not the reality. He has a very good team around him and invests properly in his development - professional support for diet and fitness with Tom Joyce (I believe) and 1 to 1 technical work with Saul.
I am a massive Liverpool fan. I do not want any of this to be true. I am only sharing what I have been told so that, if something happens in June, it does not come as a complete shock. Whether Liverpool decide to match £36k is another question entirely. I would be surprised if they did, but we will see. All I am asking is that people can say it sounds unlikely if they want, but not dismiss it outright. I can understand why the Eds get frustrated at times. Hopefully the next update is a positive one. YNWA.
22 Feb 2026 17:02:40
Last one for today - I agree with Dracred. I genuinely think the Premier League should consider stronger restrictions around academy packages, because the numbers are escalating quickly. In my view, one of the biggest factors is parental influence. Families understandably want to secure financial stability as early as possible. When a club (Man City) can say to a 14/15-year-old and his family that they cannot guarantee he will break through, but they can guarantee he will become a millionaire, that becomes incredibly persuasive. For players coming from difficult financial backgrounds, that offer is hard to turn down.
I do not blame the families at all. Anyone would want security for their child. But, from a development perspective, it is not always aligned with long-term career growth. When financial rewards arrive before a player has achieved anything at senior level, they can destroy motivation and progression. I also think this culture contributes to why England underperforms at senior level. Too many players are financially comfortable before they have been properly tested. Hunger, resilience and patience are harder to maintain when that sort of money comes at 17.
22 Feb 2026 17:27:16
Hopefully, he looks at the wingers today and realises there is a clear pathway to the first team he's been with since he was 4.
22 Feb 2026 17:41:18
Sami, you are plainly making it up.
22 Feb 2026 18:27:57
Absolute rubbish. Any such contract offer is illegal until after he is 17, and even then it would lead to a huge arbitration fee being due to LFC for his development.
22 Feb 2026 19:27:06
I can see why the Eds get frustrated at times. It is not illegal to agree pre-contract terms. It is very common at academy level for a player to sign a scholarship and a pre-agreed professional contract that activates at 17 at the same time. That is standard practice across the league for top prospects. Saying it cannot happen just shows a misunderstanding of how the academy system actually works.
I am not making anything up. There is nothing for me to gain. I am not on Twitter, and I am not trying to build a following. I simply wanted to contribute and support what the Eds have built. If people want to disagree, that is fine. But constant provocation from those who do not understand the structure makes it pointless to contribute. I am happy to step away if that is how it is going to be.
22 Feb 2026 19:32:19
If you want examples, just look them up. Wayne Rooney agreed a pre-contract before 17. Sterling did the same with us. Jadon Sancho at City is another one, and that deal included a reported £200, 000 payment to the intermediary (Emeka - EPG).
Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka are further examples. This stuff happens all the time at the very top level. So, before calling someone a liar, please do a bit of research first.
22 Feb 2026 19:36:34
Mad how we've all got links to top clubs now. Mental.
22 Feb 2026 20:12:31
So, legally, I believe you can't enter into a legally binding contract until you are 18. You can sign all the pre-contracts you want, but as far as I am aware, you can change your mind anytime until you are 18.

Thanks, Sami, for the info. Please continue to share and post anything that you think might be of interest. That's why the vast majority of us visit the website.

Ok, Sami, backtracking your figures already. Sigh. I work for a huge oil company. Does that mean I know what the price of oil will be tomorrow?

I agree with Sami on the hunger part. I remember reading a certain Ed said the same thing quite some time ago. Come to think of it, at work, we tend to push ourselves a lot more when we have certain goals: promotions, a raise, or even acknowledgment. When you start to feel satisfied or content, you tend to be stagnant, sometimes even worse - nonchalant.

If Rio Nguhmo gets enough minutes and does well, he will easily be on 5x his current 52K salary, or whatever it is. What a great performance by him. Some shocking players today, Gakpo, Salah, Jones, Gravenberch, and if McAllister didn't score, he would have been at the top of the list.

Sailor, I have an unbreakable connection to club sandwiches.

We should match the offer, then when he is 17 or 18 or whatever, sell him to the highest bidder. Presumably he's going to be a worldie. ✌️

Can see why Ed02 always blocked talks on the numbers side of things..

Gutted for Jaros who was having a really good loan spell at Ajax.
Tore his ACL yesterday in training, so out for the rest of the season.
Get well soon Vitezslav.

Jesus, even the loanees aren't safe from our injury curse this season.
21 Feb 2026 14:11:20
It is getting a bit mad how incredibly unlucky our lads seem to be this season. Even Jaquet hasn't even joined yet, but they formalised the agreement and immediately got badly injured? Never seen anything like it, even the 'midfielders in defence' season wasn't this bad!

Have to put this one solely at the feet of Arne Slot!
21 Feb 2026 17:13:10
Westwood, 20/21 was far worse. Having all of our first-choice centre-backs out was horrendous. Not unfair to say it cost us a title defence. We've seen nothing like that this season.
21 Feb 2026 18:19:18
You can't blame Arne Slot for the bad injuries, as they are more often than not a bad fall, tackle, or twist, but the niggling recurring injuries, fatigue and lack of fitness, yes.
22 Feb 2026 07:38:46
I blame Slot for the moonlit sky. And the dream that died. With the eagles' flights. I blame Slot for the moonlit nights. When I wonder why. Are the seas still dry? Don't blame this sleeping satellite.

Liverpool Football Club is unlike any other in world football. We don't blame managers (unless your name is Woy or Brenda). We are above that. We blame Directors of football and assistant managers. Bloody Hughes and Linders have a lot to answer for.

Who's "we", JK23?

As the site bully, I speak on behalf of everyone, mate. Tongue in cheek, that is, before I trigger anyone.
