Palace want 65 million £ for Guehi ??‍?.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 02 Jul 2025 22:21:59
Is this confirmed or Twitter rubbish again?

2.) 02 Jul 2025 22:41:21
65 quid feels like it’s too much.

3.) 02 Jul 2025 22:43:50
They might want it, but they ain’t getting it.

4.) 02 Jul 2025 22:57:41
Article from the Guardian, i am not on twitter!

5.) 02 Jul 2025 23:02:45
I don’t see value in this lad if that’s the case. I assumed we was targeting him because he’s into his last year at Palace so we could get him on the snip, anything over £40m is extortionate for Guehi.

6.) 02 Jul 2025 23:17:37
Let’s not base so much on a throw away comment “Palace will need to reduce their £65m asking price” from The Guardian. Palace aren’t stupid and neither are we.

7.) 03 Jul 2025 00:16:03
Newcastle offered £75m for him earlier in the year and it was rejected.

8.) 03 Jul 2025 06:56:00
That was last season he is now entering last year of contact, so they will not have the same amount of negotiating power.

9.) 03 Jul 2025 07:16:49
Wouldn’t go over 45m myself, however I’d be looking elsewhere in all honesty.

10.) 03 Jul 2025 07:28:55
The smart thing for Guehi to do, would be to run down his contract and move clubs next year. It’s a World Cup year and if he wants a chance of playing for England, he needs to be playing every week for his club. I don’t think he will be guaranteed that here.

11.) 03 Jul 2025 07:10:43
I would love to know if those consistently criticising Guehi have genuinely seen him play regularly.

As I posted yesterday other than seeing him playing at the Euros and be England’s best defender I haven’t seen him play regularly.

I do however remember him missing a few games last season for Palace and they struggled badly without him.

I’ve also listened to a few podcasts recently including one on Redmen tv where a Palace podcaster discussed mark guehi and describes him as one of the top 3 players to ever wear a palace shirt.

In the podcast he describes him as excellent on the ball, quick and aggressive who rarely makes mistakes. He also describes him as being highly intelligent and a leader. Nickname uncle Marc for his maturity. He also debunks the poor in the air assumption due to aerial duel win percentage and interestingly it is the same as Gabriel’s of Arsenal.

Everyone entitled to their opinion but the scouting departments at Liverpool and Newcastle obviously rate him highly so that for me this signing sounds like it could be really positive if it happens.

12.) 03 Jul 2025 07:13:04
65 mill and he only has one year left on his contract. No thank you, there’s better players out there for less.

13.) 03 Jul 2025 07:57:26
6 Gold Stars would that not make Guehi a rat and whatever else gets banded about?

Be a bit hypocritical to expect a player to do that to land at the club but kick off if it works the other way around?

14.) 03 Jul 2025 08:11:00
Guehi would be a class signing, don't get the constant put down of him on here, easily in the top range of defenders in the league, a great age, a leader, English, the deal makes sense on so many levels, each to their own though.

15.) 03 Jul 2025 08:12:32
He English and he plays for Palace Longterm so he’s not a fashionable signing. That’s all it is.

If he was Brazilian and his name was Guehinho and we were signing him from Spain everyone would be all for it.

16.) 03 Jul 2025 08:51:32
RedQ…. i never said it would be best for Villa did I?
What happened with Trent was best for Trent (and Madrid) not us.
Just posting to say that the World Cup selection might play a part in his decision. I genuinely don’t care if he runs his contract down or not.

17.) 03 Jul 2025 09:13:47
Sorry, Palace not Villa.

18.) 03 Jul 2025 11:43:07
Apologies if I misinterpreted the post 6. That's on me if I did.

Not the day for arguing amongst ourselves.

Stay safe all and god bless.

19.) 03 Jul 2025 12:30:31
Thanks for the kind reply RedQ. Today’s news puts everything into perspective.

20 Jun 2025 15:48:28
I was almost rediculed when I said Newcastle want 200 million £ for Isak a while back.

News coming out today from Newcastle mouthpieces that he is not for sale and any offer will need to be close to 200 million £.

Don't trust the Twitter tw*ts is all I have to say. Enjoy your weekends everybody ?.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 20 Jun 2025 15:54:14
Tbf all I’ve seen anyone say is that Isak is our number 1 choice, Isak would move to us but won’t push for it, and a deal is possible with Newcastle. None of that seems to be a lie, it just seems like the price point is higher than everyone expected. I’ve not seen one person quote a price though. Only ever seen people say a “British transfer record” would be required.

2.) 20 Jun 2025 16:08:28
We knew the price was £150m minimum and there was never any chance of Isak coming unless he kicked up a massive fuss. Nothing at all has changed.

3.) 20 Jun 2025 16:16:57
All I know is that when the Newcastle negotiator looks into Slots eyes, the price will be 120mil rising to 132 with add-ons.

Newcastle negotiator" Richard, why have you brought Arne to the negotiation table"

Arne "look into my eyes, look into eyes, not around the eyes, straight into my eyes.

4.) 20 Jun 2025 16:35:51
Its not going to be made easy, and if not, the slower build works for me personally. Martinez would bring a lot, if not anywhere near as many goals, but he will open the doors for others.

It 'could' be a blessing if we are made to wait, as a new prospect may emerge, one without any injury issues.

5.) 20 Jun 2025 16:40:15
Look into my eyes, not around the eyes ?.

{Ed077's Note - Look me in the eyes, tell me what you see Perfect paradise, tearing at the seam

6.) 20 Jun 2025 16:54:06
You should be ridiculed, look at my hair because of you.

7.) 20 Jun 2025 16:56:53
Lies to fit your agenda ASB, they want a deal around £130m.

8.) 20 Jun 2025 17:14:21
At 200m there is NO deal, even at 150m i can't see the club paying that. i don't think i'd want them to.

9.) 20 Jun 2025 17:24:41
This is how negotiations work. I’d still be surprised if we get Isak, but they’ll try to extract top dollar and a high opening demand sets the parameters. Crazy window though.

10.) 20 Jun 2025 17:23:27
I'm impressed by your Imagine Dragons reference Ed077, even if none of these other Philistines are! ;)

{Ed077's Note - maybe they're just hiding from their Demons from this Radioactive Thunder? ?

11.) 20 Jun 2025 17:27:07
The initial rumours from Newcastle's side were that Isak isn't for sale, and that it would take a fee of £150m to get even get them to the table. At that point, it was fairly widely assumed that £150m could be bargained down to £130m realistically, but that Liverpool would never pay that much.

Then rumours start coming out that Liverpool want Isak and would be happy to pay that much.

So the Newcastle rumours change to he's not for sale, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell him, and he's happy to stay.

Then rumours start coming out that Isak wants the Liverpool move, and that he has told Newcastle that.

Now, the Newcastle rumours are upping the price, saying it will take up to £200mil to get him.

Personally, I think that's bull. I think Isak has told Newcastle he wants to go, and a few of our ITKs on here have said they are resigned to losing him, and I can absolutely see that being true. In such a case, it makes complete sense that Newcastle would flood the media with reports of a price up to £200mil, with no intention of ever getting near that figure, purely so that when they eventually agree a fee of around £130mil, they can blame Isak, and say he forced their hand. They can try to save face with fans by saying they wanted £200mil but Liverpool refused to pay it and Isak forced the move at a lower price.

That's what I believe (hope? ) anyways. Be interesting to see how everything actually shakes out.

12.) 20 Jun 2025 17:50:58
Heeeey Arne Slot, don't come blaming me for your hair, you always tell me you want your scalp to shine and that you love cocobutter on your shiny shiny head!

Am making up nothing thefields, what a rude and stupid comment. These news come from the Newcastle camp, nothing to do with me, take it up with the Journalist who wrote the article!

13.) 20 Jun 2025 19:02:23
We won’t sign Isak, book mark this.

14.) 20 Jun 2025 19:10:56
ED33, how do we bookmark Fatwallet's comment?

{Ed033's Note - It's now bookmarked.

15.) 20 Jun 2025 19:46:25
WhatDivock, some of these rumours are second hand news. If we have to sell first, the chain will have to go your own way. Don't stop the rumours because he would be a dream signing and I don't want to know if it doesn't happen because we're never going back again.

16.) 20 Jun 2025 19:59:30
No club and I mean no club will pay £200 million for Isak.

17.) 20 Jun 2025 20:34:30
@Mark, not everybody knew how much Newcastle wanted for Isak, . I still don’t and neither does anybody else on this forum. A nutcase in a dark room with no social life to mention makes up a number and posts it and within a minute it becomes ‘the truth’.

Not one single person on this forum had any idea that we were going to even consider asking about Wirtz before we actually made a move to bring him in.

We don’t know what’s going on or what’s going to happen so when stuff appears on line we build strange constructs as to why a player will or won’t sign based upon here say and made up ‘facts’ (£200m being today’s ‘fact’) .

It really is a lot more fun to just wait and see what’s actuallyy going to happen.

Btw, anybody still not convinced by Hughes’s efforts?

18.) 20 Jun 2025 19:57:57
Es 77., wouldn’t have you down as an imagine dragons fan…would have pitched your more as a Jam fan…that’s entertainment…. Isak no chance at all, Liverpool signing two plus 100m players in one window. What are a sovereign state…I reckon our very top end for a new striker is 60-70m. At the very most. That might get a gyorkees or an evanilson… I suspect the first has too high wage demands and the second is unlikely due to the number of players they have already lost. So it’s a puzzler. For me, with the market like it is and the options as they are I’d keep one of jota or Nunez…get a great cb…use Diaz as the main strand play Cody on the left…maybe pick up a promising young lw as cover.

{Ed077's Note - I wouldn't call me an Imagine Dragons fan. Just know a few of their songs ?

19.) 20 Jun 2025 23:56:24
Was it not just some random former player saying that Newcastle ‘should’ ask for £200m?

20.) 21 Jun 2025 01:01:47
Honestly, if it's true that Slot wants versatility in his attackers, I don't see how Isak fits that. That's not to say Liverpool aren't interested, but those 2 rumors don't seem to reconcile.

02 Jun 2025 15:13:46
Rumours in Saudi are that Osihmen is off to Al-Hilal and Will have his medical tomorrow to be ready for the club world cup.

Was hoping he'd be our "surprise" striker target but you can't compete with the stupid wages on offer!

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 02 Jun 2025 15:29:02
I thought Al Hilal wanted Nunez? I guess we'll be selling him to Atletico on the cheap then.

2.) 02 Jun 2025 15:37:44
Realistically do you want another striker who is going to join Salah in being absent half way through the season for a month or so?

3.) 02 Jun 2025 16:22:12
Nunez and Jota missed more than a month this season between injuries and just not being played by Slot. So a striker who's available and scores goals even missing 1 month would certainly be a massive improvement on what we have.

4.) 02 Jun 2025 17:48:06
He’s still demanding £400k a week basic before tax, there’s no way we’d sign him on those demands. There’s a reason why he’s being swerved by other top clubs. He’ll end up in Saudi state padding against washed up players and goat herders.

5.) 02 Jun 2025 19:20:48
adamski94 and five tickers to the post,

Jurgen took that same "Joint" gamble with Salah and Mane, didn't turn out too badly if my memory serves me correctly, also denied Mane and Salah playing against LFC for other clubs which was even more important and critical in the long run.

If we had never signed Salah in the first place because he would have missed a few games because of AFCON every other season? do you think Mane and Salah would have won more trophies anywhere else because I don't!

Without MO's Stellar start to the 24-25 EPL season, we would not have been premier champs this year either!

26 May 2025 11:50:19
Its refreshing to see the players we are chasing this summer seem to all want Liverpool and only Liverpool, after Wirtz telling City and Bayern that he wants us, Kerkez has now seemingly done the same telling City he wants Liverpool only, as they now chace Ait Nouri instead.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 26 May 2025 12:07:48
I think it's also worth noting that clubs actively want to do business with us. It's about time we started behaving appropriately and not creating issues with other clubs by tapping up players. Leverkusen and Wirtz were apparently extremely impressed by how respectful and professional we've been compared to Bayern Munich. How many times in recent years has a club actively tried to push one of their players towards us because we're the ones setting the example!

I think in Slot and Hughes we're going to create something of a dynasty. None of our rivals are operating anywhere near as smooth right now. Pep, Maresca and Arteta are embarrassing themselves every time a mic is put in their face and that is not conducive towards attracting top talent. From the outside looking in, they're both becoming a laughing stock. Would it even be that much of a shock if Newcastle pushed on to become our main title rivals next season? CL football will allow them to hold on to their best players like Tino, Isak and Bruno. So if they did sign say an Mbuemo and then get Botman back fit for a full season, they could be a serious threat next year.

2.) 26 May 2025 12:09:51
Ed001 will be thrilled City are in for Ait Nouri as he rates him so highly!

3.) 26 May 2025 12:20:34
Ed001 called Air Nourishment the new Carlos Alberto.

That’s the clown, not the legendary Brazilian captain.

4.) 26 May 2025 12:49:32
Think a few on here need some air nourishment ?.

5.) 26 May 2025 13:28:52
Does anyone know why the calibre of players City have been going for recently has been so average? Reijnders is another player that they apparently want. Yes, they had lots of money but they used to be really good at identifying top-level talent.

6.) 26 May 2025 13:35:53
Newcastle don't have enough strength in depth for Europe and the league, mk, so I find that quite unlikely. Arsenal and city have had a few years building that depth so they should still be our rivals I think.

7.) 26 May 2025 13:47:59
PB, I expect them to strengthen significantly with the CL money they’re now guaranteed. They have arguably the only midfield in the league as strong as ours and the only forward close to Salah in terms of all around quality. They’re a top keeper and right winger away from being a very dangerous team I reckon. I don’t fear City or Chelsea next season and I think Arsenal will never do better than 2nd with Arteta running the show.

8.) 26 May 2025 15:54:31
Babbity it's because their future post Pep is uncertain and they still have that court case hanging over their heads. They're not the same attractive project they were in 2017.

9.) 26 May 2025 16:04:25
Agree totally on Newcastle MK. Mbuemo would be a great signing for them they are going to be strong next year.

10.) 26 May 2025 17:15:49
Newcastle won’t make top 4 imo. Their squad needs 5 top players added to challenge at the very top.

11.) 26 May 2025 17:58:26
I agree Mark. You can’t underestimate playing CL football and trying to challenge for the PL puts on a squad.

12.) 27 May 2025 07:57:48
Probably two TOP players and two or three backup players for MF and CB. that's easily doable for them over the summer.

02 Jul 2025 15:10:30
Apparently Luis Diaz earns 140k a week not the reported 60k a week that's been online. His contract went from 55k the 1st 6 months, to 90k then 140k depending on performance clauses. So makes it even worse all the chatter about Barcelona and how upset he is with us and his contract. Buddy your performances aren't even worth 140k a week so zip it.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 02 Jul 2025 15:30:12
Did he show upset he is with us and his contract when he said, the other day, "I'm very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they've made me feel really welcome".

2.) 02 Jul 2025 15:34:40
Is Diaz the new whipping boy now?

3.) 02 Jul 2025 16:02:04
Third highest scorer last season isn't worth the same as Chiesa, similar to Nunez, and less than half of Salah?

The extent to which any footballer is worth 6 figure sums a week is debatable, but within the context of that being the going rate, suggesting Diaz is overpaid is a strange take.

4.) 02 Jul 2025 16:02:13
I’ve never seen Diaz say anything negative about playing his football here.

5.) 02 Jul 2025 16:11:32
Thats was when Barcelona told him they can't sign him, then they told him we are going to sign you, and went for Nico Williams instead so you must have been sleeping under a rock if you haven't noticed Luis Diaz and His dad angling for a move literally 2 months into his Liverpool career. Flashthered, where did i whip him? I like players who want to play for us not use us as stepping stones to worse clubs. Do you ever contribute in any other way than talk down to others?

6.) 02 Jul 2025 16:15:14
“Buddy your performances aren't even worth 140k a week so zip it. ”

2nd highest goalscorer for the team that won the league.

He gets into every team in the prem at left wing.

7.) 02 Jul 2025 17:01:11
Person who constantly spouts nonsense telling someone else to "zip it" is peak irony.

8.) 02 Jul 2025 17:23:11
He said "from day one" and "I'm very, very happy in Liverpool".
Where did he say he was upset with Liverpool or his contract, ASB?
And how were he and his Dad angling for a move two months into his contract?
I've not heard anything like that.

9.) 02 Jul 2025 17:44:18
I have noticed many on here are more player supporters than club supporters, it is what it is. For what its worth Luis Diaz and his "camp" are extremely unproffesional.

10.) 02 Jul 2025 20:50:28
You seem to be a bit thin skinned lad.
At least you answered my question, very commendable of you.

30 Jun 2025 08:53:09
Good morning, Just wanted to say how Grateful i am that Chelsea bought Joao Pedro! I really didn't rate him at all and was worried we might get stuck with him later in the window. Now they have a moody player who they will be loaning out in no time!

ArneSlotsBarber

{Ed078's Note - you thought we'd be "stuck with him"?

1.) 30 Jun 2025 14:29:07
Do you not actually have to sign a player first to be stuck with him?

2.) 30 Jun 2025 09:53:55
Yeah the links to him wouldn't go away! Just opinions ofcourse but I think he would have been a flop that would be hard to move on.

26 Jun 2025 11:42:57
Ed001, I wanted to first appologize and 2nd thank you for writing on the Nottingham Page i think where the term Manure started, I didn't know that at all and want to appologize for using the term before. Again thank you for sharing!

ArneSlotsBarber

{Ed001's Note - I think it was West Ham but it could have been Forest. I do that every so often as a lot of people use it without realising where it comes from and why it is so offensive and nasty a term to use. It was actually Ed4 who explained it to me, many years ago now. I had used it before then myself. Once you realise it originates from a line in a song about the Munich Disaster referring to the Busby Babes as being manure on the ground, it does feel totally different and sickening.}

1.) 26 Jun 2025 12:04:07
Ed001, I think it was West Brom fans singing about Duncan Edwards who first coined the term. Amount of people I’ve explained it to and they refuse to admit they are in the wrong (even doubling down at times) is really quite sad. So kudos to you, ArneSlotBarber, for not only admitting your mistake but apologising for your ignorance on the subject. It’s a massive sign of intelligence to be willing to change when presented with new information. Respect to you for that, as you’ve shown yourself to be a good person who simply didn’t know the roots of the slur.

{Ed001's Note - it was West Brom fans, but I didn't know it was about Duncan Edwards. I had always wondered why Baggies were singing about it.}

2.) 26 Jun 2025 12:13:31
Wow I never knew that, I often refer to Man U as manure, obviously implying they’re a crap club, but in this context that is disgusting!

3.) 26 Jun 2025 12:27:09
Well done mate. Same for me. Ed1 told me about that years ago as well. Had been using it without even realising. Here’s a crazy one- Liverpool's official magazine used it as a term. This was about twenty years ago so I’d like to think it was just a mistake on their part. I’d very much doubt they still use it.

4.) 26 Jun 2025 12:27:37
Nor I! . I've always referred to them as that! . even on here I believe! . that's changed my tune! . every day is a learning day. Thanks for posting that!

{Ed001's Note - actually that's a very good point, it was really good of ASB to post that here where more people can see it!}

5.) 26 Jun 2025 12:51:07
Just got educated just now! I never knew that at all. Thanks for enlightening us. I'm a better person for it, and please, Eds and Reds, maybe could have teachable moments/ lesson in history section in our forum. It could be educational, because ignorance is NOT bliss!

6.) 26 Jun 2025 12:45:57
Good to know. many of us were not aware of the background.

Anywaym I prefer Old Toilet to that.

7.) 26 Jun 2025 12:45:01
Alison, Bobby and Wirtz Ed001.So maybe just maybe mate ?.

8.) 26 Jun 2025 13:17:21
Yeah Ed001, I was confused too at first. But apparently it’s because Edwards was born near to West Bromwich in Dudley. So they targeted him specifically, I suppose because they felt as though he should’ve played locally for them. The lyrics to the song are truly horrendous. I won’t post them here but if anybody wants to look them up, just be prepared for something awful because the poor bloke was only 21 and had an awful end to his life fighting in the hospital to survive.

{Ed001's Note - it makes sense actually because United bought off his parents to get him to sign for them over the Baggies. They bought his mother a brand new washing machine at a time when no one could afford to have them at home.}

9.) 26 Jun 2025 13:23:51
Theatre of pisStreams.

10.) 26 Jun 2025 13:47:13
Very interesting - it's a term I've never used but I didn't know it meant that.

Well played, ASB.

11.) 26 Jun 2025 14:11:18
I have used that term before, but I definitely won't anymore now I know this.

Thank you ASB and Ed001.

05 Jun 2025 08:34:42
Question to the Akira or the eds id you have an idea, so seemingly Inter have financial issues but wouldn't reaching the CL final help with those problems so they don't have to sell? Thank you.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 05 Jun 2025 11:14:48
Is it not more to do with the apparent dodgy dealings?

2.) 05 Jun 2025 11:48:38
Yes I think Inter may have been somewhat untruthful with regards to sponsorship agreements for a number of years.

Why do Italian clubs never learn.

04 Jun 2025 13:38:26
Lautaro Martinez's numbers for the Argentina national team should tell you all you need to know about him. South American international games are so very aggressive bordering on violent most of the time and the intensity is seriously bordering on the mentally insane sometimes so In my humble opinion will do just fine in the PL.

You also have to remember that he is playing in a retirement home team (oldest team in the CL) he'd be coming to a very different much younger much more energetic team, with many more top players creating for him. I actually think he would score a lot more with us than with Inter.

ArneSlotsBarber

1.) 04 Jun 2025 13:46:47
ArneSlotsBarber - Exactly, and any lay person who thinks they know more than the best in the business is speaking from opinion as opposed to from a place of extensive, in depth knowledge - which is fine of course, although not particularly informed.

2.) 04 Jun 2025 13:50:49
He has a one in two record at Inter, so if he does better than that we’ll all be happy.

3.) 04 Jun 2025 14:19:40
I've never seen Viktor so upbeat and positive about a potential signing before. Martinez must really be some player to get his approval ;)

4.) 04 Jun 2025 14:37:11
I'll never forget the belter he scored against us.

5.) 04 Jun 2025 14:46:44
Vic, did your wife locate the missing bottle of prozak?

6.) 04 Jun 2025 15:06:30
He also works very hard and brings other players into play better than Jota or Nunez. Not quite Firmino but should still get more out of Gakpo and Salah.

7.) 04 Jun 2025 15:15:54
Seriously doubt he's coming here.

8.) 04 Jun 2025 15:26:37
It’s funny how someone mentions a name and we all talk like he’s already on his way ?.

9.) 04 Jun 2025 16:20:43
Fully agree, @Livered. Don't see this happening.

We're asking much more than 50 million €, Ornstein and Romano said as much, these news are from Napoli based sources. They're high on something over there.

40 million € is like 35 million £. that's what we paid for Andy Carroll. Napoli can run along. 50 million £ is fair considering we rejected 70 million € in January.

You must be joking Greg! Napoli can do one, thinking they can get him for 40 million €. I would rather keep him for that insulting offer.

I have noticed many on here are more player supporters than club supporters, it is what it is. For what its worth Luis Diaz and his "camp" are extremely unproffesional.

Yeah, very worried Alisson will be moved on! Mamardashvili, Woodman and the Hungarian kid is too many GKs.
