Corruption you mean.

2.) 01 Oct 2023 10:00:53
I was hoping to be able to calm down after sleeping on it but if anything seeing the fallout has made me more angry. It really does make you wonder what’s the point if you’re playing against 12 every week. I’m really trying not to go on a massive rant….

3.) 01 Oct 2023 10:24:38
They’ve decided to cheat Liverpool out of the title race.

We could’ve gone top of the league with City playing Arsenal away next.

It’s over now, the whole thing is scripted. Fixed outcome.

4.) 01 Oct 2023 10:34:15
If it isn't corruption based then it's ineptitude on a scale that should have every Premier League manager demanding VAR should be scrapped or at least shelved until staff are able to use the technology properly.
As Bill Shankly used to say, football is a simple game. And now it's being spoiled by people who don't have the talent to be out there on the pitch themselves, but are grabbing the headlines for being utterly crap at the role they have in the game.
Every single week now, the headlines are VAR based.
VAR should be taken out of service until those that implement it can be proven to be competent and unbiased.
And let's face it, so far they have been an a miserable failure.

5.) 01 Oct 2023 10:47:16
I keep saying that VAR isn’t working and should be scrapped. I see the theory behind it but the execution is just woeful. There seems to be an error per game now at the very least. The cons outweigh the pros at the moment and it should be shelved until a better execution process is in place and trialled and agreed with the clubs.

6.) 01 Oct 2023 11:02:09
The VAR technology works fine, the problems are the people operating it and the processes they are/ aren't following.

7.) 01 Oct 2023 11:13:24
The pgmol shouldn't operate VAR a separate body needs to run it with their own people in the "bunker" no amount of human error could account for that offside decision yesterday.

8.) 01 Oct 2023 11:28:33
But now if you take var away and leave one of those incompetent refs and linesmen back in the lime light I imagine it be much worse.

9.) 01 Oct 2023 12:03:59
Yikes, OP. Tat looks really bad. How could anyone miss that? Even to the naked eye, it is clearly onside.

10.) 01 Oct 2023 12:06:28
Take away VAR, Jones doesn't get sent off, Diaz's goal is disallowed and Jota does get sent off. I could take that.
The biggest problem with VAR is that we are left talking about VAR again.
I never liked it for taking the spontaneity out of the game but to do that AND get things wrong is unforgivable.

Can we have our game back, please?

FSGfleecing us, Sporting have won the Portuguese league 19 times, and generally finish in the top four. If he did a Mourinho and won a European trophy as well as a league title then maybe it might seem more impressive. As it is, a league title about 3 years ago doesn’t feel all that impressive. Plus Sporting really don’t want to do business with us (as anyone who reads these pages should recall) .

I’m absolutely against Nagelsmann, huge step down from Klopp, serious errors or judgement and massive Brendan Rodgers vibes. He’s the level of Tottenham ot Chelsea.

The recruitment has to be right, bar Alonso the pool of “talent” js so shallow it’s barely a puddle.

Kloppers, I remember that era too, unfortunately those days feel long gone never to return. So Ancelotti can never be a manager who would be welcome as his connection to Everton is too strong.

{Ed025's Note - his only connection to Everton VV is that he used them as a stepping stone mate, and as a way to enhance his pension..

That list on the BBC is way wrong. Alonso is head and shoulders above the rest in that list Kloppite and it’s not even close.

Amorim - No thanks, nothing special about him, hasn’t taken Sporting to a European tournament win, winning in Portugal with one of the teams who usually win doesn’t feel like much of an achievement.
Nagelsmann - Absolutely no, Brendan Rodgers vibes. Poor judgement. Dodgy tactics. Lost respect of his players really quickly.
Tuchel - Failed at PSG, failed at Chelsea, failed at Bayern and failed at Dortmund. Absolutely no.
Postecoglou - His comments after the infamous match at Spurs should rule him out right away. Again, nothing special as a manager, Spurs is his level.
de Zerbi - No thanks, mid table manager, don’t see anything special there. he can stay at Brighton.

As for Ancelotti being an Everton man should rule him out straight away.

Alonso is the only one out of that list I’d want, the rest I’d hope never ever manage us.

Jaynwa, we may pay Salah £300k+ pw but there’s no way we’d pay that kind of wage straight away to a new player. I’d say Musiala has career plans that don’t involve us, like Bellingham et al. There are some players that are beyond our reach.

Here’s a non exhaustive list of players some on here pined for and were convinced we could sign and were signing that didn’t end up coming here and will never play for us.

Kai Havertz
Timo Werner
Jadon Sancho
Christopher Nkunku
Jude Bellingham
Kylian Mbappe (soon to Madrid)

Just add Musiala to that list as we wouldn’t spend the kind of money Bayern would want. Whereas City, United and Chelsea would, we’ve been here before. He probably wouldn’t and up at Arsenal either because of their wage structure. I think we can confidently predict that Musiala will never play in a Liverpool shirt, the same way it was obvious that Bellingham wouldn’t and never will either. To think otherwise is bring delusional.

After we signed MacAllister and Szoszlai WDW, that improved our midfield 110%. We did enough last summer to get us back in the top four comfortably, shame we left the midfield a summer too late as it cost us a top four place last season.

Too injury prone. End product questionable. Spursy type player.

Always thought we’d be top four comfortably. If we can beat City I think we’ll go on and win the league. Simple as that. We’re showing incredible resilience at the moment, every game is a cup final between now and the end of the season and as Chelsea found out, we’re quite handy at them.

Really good interview with Joe Gomez in the guardian today about it all. You can tell they all respect and look up to Klopp.
