Kerkez has stoked the flames by liking 2 Fabrizio Romano posts about Mo and Virg signing new contracts.

1.) 10 Apr 2025 20:30:18
Still a Utd fan for me so no ta.

2.) 10 Apr 2025 21:25:23
He is a kid that supported united, so what?

I don’t get this tbh.

He’s a professional sportsman, it won’t matter one iota.

3.) 10 Apr 2025 21:55:47
Macmanaman, Fowler, Owen, Lallana, Rush, McMahon, Carragher. All supported Everton. Yep, there's a judas in there, but by and large I'm happy they played for us.

Lampard supported West Ham, Modric supported Barca, De Bruyne supported Liverpool (pity we never got him, he could've overlapped with Gerrard! ), Terry supported Man Utd, Bale supported Arsenal, Solksjaer supported Liverpool, Sterling supported Man Utd, Pogba supported Arsenal.

Do you think any of the clubs where these players made their names gave two hoots who they used to support whilst they were scoring for their team?

4.) 10 Apr 2025 23:12:47
Bit ridiculous John.

5.) 10 Apr 2025 23:23:13
What am I meant to do with all that information zed? Change my mind? For whatever he said mis reported or interpreted it’s just a no from me.

6.) 10 Apr 2025 23:36:12
Dom is here now John, its a bit like Trent saying he'd never thought of leaving, wanted to be captain one day and couldn't see himself anywhere else then leg it quick sharpish when his chum Jude gets in his ear.

7.) 10 Apr 2025 23:40:11
Fair enough John, you're entitled to your opinion.

Did you also dislike the Everton-supporting Liverpool players too?

8.) 11 Apr 2025 00:49:20
It’s nothing like that at all FM. And it’s not ridiculous.

@zedicus. I don’t dislike him I just don’t want him to sign for us. I don’t remember any of the Everton supporting players saying they supported Everton when asked about signing for us? All there stories came out after they signed for us. I know everyone is not a Liverpool supporter.

9.) 11 Apr 2025 01:22:23
And I don't think Kerkez has said that he support Man Utd NOW. He may have said it months or years ago, just like any of the Everton supporting Liverpool players may have told mates they supported Everton before they joined us.

But everyone didn't have a video phone or social media back then, so (relatively) no one knew. That's why you don't remember any of them saying they supported Everton, because it wasn't reported.

I'm not saying Kerkez is definitely the one for us, I actually have a slight preference for Hato as he can also cover CB and could grow into Van Dijk's heir in time to come, but Kerkez does have PL experience so I'm no prepared to reject him just because of a preference he once expressed over United.

10.) 11 Apr 2025 01:34:44
How is it nothing like that, are we mant to believe he loves utd more than trent loves lfc?

11.) 11 Apr 2025 02:12:21
John please provide the quote. Alls I can see online is that there’s a Man U shirt on his wall during a webcast and the internet has put two and two together. Perhaps it was a shirt swap after a game? After all he’s a professional footballer so very likely. He certainly has never said ‘I won’t sign for Liverpool bc I support Utd’ so let’s put that to bed. He would improve our squad and help us challenge for cups. That’s all that matters.

12.) 11 Apr 2025 02:26:31
Fowler, McManaman and Carragher were hardly interviewed and asked their allegiances when they turned up for trials at Kirkby.

13.) 11 Apr 2025 07:41:22
What about suarez John? Well known to be a Barcelona fan l, would you prefer we never signed him?

Players are professionals who want to have a good career, even if they sign for the rival of a club they supported as a boy their career depends on them playing well.

14.) 11 Apr 2025 08:16:17
John Carra used to train as a kid for Liverpool in an Everton top and was a strong blue till he started playing in the first team. When he was told by one of the coaches after he cheered when he got the Everton result on the team bus this needs to stop now you’re going into the first team. If you can tell me a more diehard red on the pitch than Carra over the last 20 years please do so.

15.) 11 Apr 2025 12:59:19
Carra has said that supported Everton fiercely right up until he made the first team.

16.) 11 Apr 2025 13:46:59
For me, most pro footballers are not really supporters. They have their favourite clubs but they’re not really supporters.

I have no issue with any player claiming to support Man U or anyone else. However, if they decline an offer to play for us then that’s a different matter.
They get one chance, if they turn us down then it’s a final offer.

As Kerkez didn’t really turn down a serious offer, I can let his comment slide.

01 Apr 2025 09:34:08
If rumours are to be believed it looks like a move for Kerkez is intensifying.

Apparently there is a belief between both clubs that an agreement can be reached in the next few weeks.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 01 Apr 2025 11:03:57
It would be pretty interesting if we got both Cunha and kerkez haha, didn't the former punch and headbutt the later when they played each other?

2.) 01 Apr 2025 11:08:37
Yeah, there's a lot of smoke with this one. Sounds like he is a strong contender for the lb position.

Very quiet on other names.

Think he is the man they are going to get for lb but of course it could all just be a smokescreen?.

3.) 01 Apr 2025 21:02:47
Rumour that Newcastle willing to pay big money for Harvey Elliott. Not sure if it’s April fools or genuine.

4.) 01 Apr 2025 21:08:28
Well I enjoy reading Victor's scouting reports. No comment until I've seen that.

{Ed025's Note - i think the report will contain "hes crap" RF.. :)

5.) 01 Apr 2025 23:07:15
Could do a lot worse. If we don’t sign him and he joins another top side and does well, be sure that posters will be up in arms over why we didn’t sign him.

It’s a gamble but at 21 years old and with premier league experience (2 goals and 5 assists this season) and international experience too for Hungary, I think it could be very shrewd and sort is out at LB for many years to come.

I would say based on Kerkez style of play and attributes, we should be looking at a more solid tall and defensive RB to potentially rotate with Bradley (assuming Trent leaves), to form a back 3 as needed for buildups and give us height at set pieces. ie what we were hoping to do at left back had Trent stayed.

6.) 02 Apr 2025 03:58:41
@Navy, I’m sure the interest in buying him is real but it’s a bit of a kick in the nuts for the likes of Beck, Chambers and Scanlon in terms of 5heir development path into the first team. Maybe we try to sell both Robbo and the Greek Scouser and have Kerkez as starter with Beck / Scanlon / Chambers as back-up?

7.) 02 Apr 2025 11:37:25
Ed001, Ed0025, members, didn't we prefer Hato? Didn't Kerkez and family prefer ManU? Not quite buying it yet here.

29 Mar 2025 14:12:20
Looks like FSG are looking at Malaga as an option to be their second club in the multi club model. There could be a battle with QSI (who own PSG) to get a deal done.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 29 Mar 2025 14:25:52
The way I read it was the interest was from February.

2.) 29 Mar 2025 17:56:24
Shouldn’t be allowed.

3.) 29 Mar 2025 19:18:26
Well if QSI are bidding against them, they’re not winning as they don’t have the money to compete.

4.) 29 Mar 2025 21:40:05
They probably want to look at them for a couple of windows first anyway.

5.) 29 Mar 2025 23:21:47
Monitoring the situation as we speak, I believe.

24 Feb 2025 13:29:01
Anybody know anything about RB Wesley Vinicius Franca Lima?

Lots of press in Brazil over the weekend were linking him to us and apparently Romano also dropped his name when talking about our upcoming transfers.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 24 Feb 2025 13:38:48
We normally struggle to get the correct visas for those coming straight out of South America so I would assume it is a no go.

2.) 24 Feb 2025 18:17:13
It's going to cost a bit to get that name on the back of a replica shirt.

3.) 25 Feb 2025 09:29:18
His attacking is next level the guy is like a man possessed with raiding the wings an likes to come inside centrally to carry the ball upfield, in hindsight if he can defend he is a must have.

11 Feb 2025 15:31:42
Apparently our CB shortlist is Hanko, Hato and Huijsen.

I'm wondering if it is a much longer list arranged alphabetically and somebody caught a glimpse of the top of it. (It would rule out Geuhi which would please some on here)

ShipleyKopite

1.) 11 Feb 2025 15:57:40
Perhaps he was bottom of the list on the previous page?

2.) 11 Feb 2025 16:02:55
So we're targeting people who's name starts with H.

3.) 11 Feb 2025 16:34:51
Huijsen would be my pick.

4.) 11 Feb 2025 16:57:08
I see Hato as our lb option who could cover CB.

5.) 11 Feb 2025 17:40:49
Would be Hato for me as well.

6.) 11 Feb 2025 18:01:40
Doubt any of them will be signed .

7.) 11 Feb 2025 18:20:59
Just buy Bournemouth then Huijsen, kerkez and semenyo.

8.) 11 Feb 2025 23:28:07
Which one is the cheapest? That’ll be the one.

9.) 12 Feb 2025 05:53:47
teasing us to put a hat on all fans, I guess.

10.) 12 Feb 2025 06:12:23
Like our keeper and our captain were. Give it a rest @Klopp4.

11.) 12 Feb 2025 08:19:36
Surprised that Hincapié was not on the list.

12.) 12 Feb 2025 09:06:23
The 'H' tactic has worked well in the past with Hyypia, Henchoz, Hansen and Hughes!

13.) 12 Feb 2025 09:31:47
Han Dyke has been a success.

14.) 12 Feb 2025 14:55:33
Whoever it is, I hope it's not as anti-clumactic as Buckles being revealed as "H".

{Ed025's Note - that ruined Line of Duty for me PD, the fist 5 series were excellent but having Buckles as H was like having Keita in your team mate.. :)

15.) 12 Feb 2025 17:06:56
Do you think it is a cunning plan thought up by Hughes? It’s possible there’s a link in there somewhere.

16.) 13 Feb 2025 15:00:25
Huijsen is PL proven, go for him.

Evening Eds. Does anybody know much about Laurie Shaw, the data expert that we have signed up after he left the City group? I’ve never heard of the guy but it is being billed as a bit of a coup.

ShipleyKopite

{Ed001's Note - no mate sorry.}

1.) 09 Apr 2025 00:32:18
I read that he's joining FSG rather than Liverpool FC, and would be involved in mostly all their portfolios instead of purely just on us. So we may not be affected that much by him coming on board.

27 Mar 2025 16:17:30
It's confirmed that there will be 2 transfer windows this Summer! Double the excitement (or disappointment) .

ShipleyKopite

1.) 27 Mar 2025 20:07:06
One for the conspiracy theorists - RM wanted TAA on board for the World Club Cup (or whatever it’s called. For that to be the case they were, apparently, going to need to pay us as TAa’s contract was until the end of June. Hey presto a new 10 day window at the start of June. Coincidence or what?

2.) 27 Mar 2025 20:28:29
Hate to spoil a good conspiracy theory, but the split window was pout in place a long time ago to accommodate the club world cup.

And regardless of the earlier window, Trent's contract was due to end on 30 June regardless.

3.) 27 Mar 2025 21:11:46
We will be ‘identifying “ in the first window, and “monitoring” in the second.

{Ed025's Note - you sound like my window cleaner Paisley.. :)

4.) 28 Mar 2025 12:53:49
Damn, I thought it was only approved yesterday.

03 Mar 2025 14:25:00
Am I the only one who is baffled by the fact that Newcastle are considering appealing Gordons red card?

I know that they want him to be able to play the final against us but I don't know how they could have the nerve to even consider appealing it. I know that compared to Liam Roberts 'tackle' on Jean-Philippe Mateta it was just handbags but he clearly raises his hands and shoves the guy in the head and long after the whistle had gone to stop play.

Surely it's a blatant red card or am I watching it with red tinted glasses?

ShipleyKopite

1.) 03 Mar 2025 15:29:27
Yeah it was a definate red. They stand no chance appealing.

2.) 03 Mar 2025 15:39:23
Red card all day long.

3.) 03 Mar 2025 17:49:25
I think Howe was the one who said they’d consider appealing if they thought they had a case but that they would need to check the footage of the incident. I think he was just responding to a question from the press and keeping the club’s options open. I don’t think they’ll appeal, it’s a straightforward red card.

4.) 03 Mar 2025 17:55:49
Don’t you have to get a date for the appeal? The ban kicks in after that? I suppose we would do the same? it makes sense to appeal to it get to play in the final. May be the only one he gets to play in through out his career.

5.) 03 Mar 2025 18:27:59
But if the appeal fails he will serve a longer ban. Not worth it.

6.) 03 Mar 2025 19:26:44
It's the same stunt they are trying to pull now with Gordon that they pulled the last time when the made the EFL final. Right before that game, they played us at Newcastle and Pope rushed out, handled the ball outside the box with Salah baring down on him and got sent off.

Then, Howe started pleading in the media for liniency in order for Pope to feature in the final vs Utd and Alan Shearer started the media charm offensive to have the FA not apply the rule to a player of his club, something he would NEVER do for another player of another club. Not sure the appeal is going to work here.

7.) 04 Mar 2025 07:57:04
He should get an extra game for making the appeal.

28 Feb 2025 09:58:35
Crazy season is definitely hotting up. Now that the media have decided that the PL is over they have turned their attention to who we will be spending our prize money on.

There is no major surprise that we are being linked to a double Newcastle raid for Isak and Hall but the prices being touted are obscene. £150M for Isak and £60M for Hall.

Isak is a great player but will never be able to stay fit for a whole season so £150M is way too much. Then there is Hall at £60M. Does he come with one of the Saudi oil fields included? If not, I'm struggling to see where this valuation might have come from.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 28 Feb 2025 10:58:27
Why pay 150m for Isak when Cunha is available for 60m?

2.) 28 Feb 2025 11:09:19
Magic season but we don’t seemed to decided on first choice players atm. We are ahead we need to stay ahead. A Lb/ cb is a must. A centre forward or an elite AM and then someone to take the load from Grav. This squad and first team can be easily improved.

3.) 28 Feb 2025 11:09:24
I am a big fan of hall's but I think ed001 is right in pointing out he is a more robbo/ Kostas type attacking full back than what slot needs, which is clearly a hato-type who can shift between left back and center back areas and even invert into midfield when needed.

4.) 28 Feb 2025 12:05:31
Although I understand the sentiment of signing players to improve the squad no matter what we do we won’t be able to stay ahead indefinitely no matter who we sign. Signings don’t guarantee improvement.

We can only stay competitive and I’m sure we will but that doesn’t mean that we will win the league every season. There’s so much more involved than just signing players although decent recruitment is a big part of it.

I just know that some fans will get all excited and then if we don’t win the league next season will be slagging off the club because they didn’t invest enough or sign the right players to stay at the top and calling for players/ managers/ Hughes’s head saying we’ve gone backwards.

If only it was that easy to just go and sign a few players and guarantee a league. It isn’t. I’ve always said as long as we have a chance I’m happy because if you have a chance then sometimes it will go your way. To expect perfection year in year out is just not realistic when all of the teams around you are improving too.

I wouldn’t mind if the same people gave the club credit for seasons like this one where we’ve realised we don’t need to sign anyone if we can’t get our targets and it’s left us 13pts clear with 10 games to go. That’s seriously impressive from the club because it would’ve been very easy to panic buy with all the pressure they were under to sign someone.

5.) 28 Feb 2025 12:05:55
@Mark from what Slot has been saying recently it is quite the opposite and having taken the time to assess and work with the squad the club now know exactly where they want to strengthen this summer.

I don't think anybody on here would argue too strongly against LB and CF being 2 of those positions that have been identified by the club but as Gin and Burgher (sound like my kind of meal) have said Cunha and Hato would make far more sense and likely be available for a fraction of what is being talked about for Isak and Hall. With the left over money we could even have a good run at signing Baleba (if only)!

I would love to see Isak in a Liverpool shirt and I think that he would be a brilliant signing but I don't think he is worth anywhere near £150M. As for Hall, I still can't even get my head around that fact that somebody even contemplated him being worth £60M. If he wasn't English he'd be valued at less than half that.

6.) 28 Feb 2025 12:11:17
Liks I said, I wouldn't be looking at Isak this summer cos I don't think Newcastle would sell as they are building around him, Guimaraes, Tonali and etc.

7.) 28 Feb 2025 13:13:37
Baleba, Cunha and Hato would be a great start to the summer transfer window.

8.) 28 Feb 2025 13:31:46
Isak would be unreal but prob £120m I'd say

Cunha looks good but doesn't he play more as a 10? We kinda need a proper 9 though do we not?

Left back needed, wouldn't pay £60m for Hall at all

Baleba would be a good signing too though

A lot will depend on sales though, I'd imagine CF and LB to be the two priorities though, a LB that can play CB would be a good addition mind.

9.) 28 Feb 2025 16:07:40
I know a player miles better than Cunha, and he’s even better than Isak.
He’s called Salah, we should sign him.

10.) 28 Feb 2025 19:43:03
"Amen" St Etienne to those three, Isak is Jota mark two, missed us the other night with a groin problem, Cunha more solid like a Firmino and a team player to boot.

We are now being linked with Wesley Franca from Flamengo as his replacement. Apparently he is electric going forward but has some defensive weaknesses. Can't imagine why we are being linked to him.

I read £100m rather than €100m but even so I think we would spend it on the right player. The question for me would be where a 10 would sit in the list of priorities. I doubt we would have £100m left over if other positions are deemed a higher priority.

Would love to see him in a Liverpool shirt but can't see it myself.

I think Harveys problem is that he is not fast enough to play on the wing and his lack of physicality (and pace) mean that he doesn't really fit into our current midfield which already lacks strength. If we brought in a strong/ powerful midfielder that could sit alongside Grav (or even Macca) then we might be able to give Elliot more minutes without worrying about losing the midfield battle.

I hope it's true. He deserves a chance. He did more in his 15 minute cameo in the final than all of the other forwards combined did in the entire match.

Jota/ Diaz/ Nunez have all been given their chance through the middle and none of them have taken it.

The worst that happens is that it doesn't work and we bring Jota off the bench and he tends to influence games far better off the bench than when he starts them.

Having Gakpo back on the left will be a big positive too.

The whole point of how Slot plays is fluidity. Formations in modern football are more about displaying the names nicely on a team sheet rather than where they will play the 90 mins. We might have a 4-3-3 on paper but Robbo tucks in when Trent goes forward to make it a 3-4-3. The wide men drop back to make it a 4-5-1 to protect a lead, when Endo comes on he will sometimes drop back into defence and make it a 5-4-1. The key to success is to be able to play in whatever way you need to play to win the match either because it exposes a weakness in your opponent or makes the most of the players strengths that you have available. Gone are the days of rigid formations and no plan B. (Unless you are Amorim)
