I read Newcastle were the only team to not win the league from the position we were in a few days ago. Any truth in that?
1.) 20 Feb 2025 09:26:02
Yeah. 95/ 96, they had a 12 point lead and blew it. They could attack for fun but were frail defensively and in midfield. Sounds familiar.
2.) 20 Feb 2025 09:46:56
2nd best defence in the league, only let in 4 more than the miserly gunners having played a game more?.
3.) 20 Feb 2025 09:49:27
@Victor, not wishing to burst your Jackanory scenario but we have the second best defensive record in the PL this season and the third best defensive record in the Champions League qualification table. To borrow a phrase Jim Royle might have used ‘Defensive frailty my ar$e’. Just another negative myth to have a cheap shot at the coach and squad.
4.) 20 Feb 2025 10:42:41
So it was 12 points and in January so not comparable at all.
5.) 20 Feb 2025 13:47:49
I think it was teams with a lead of so many points, Endo. I'm not sure of the number though.
When I read it I thought that our PL title winning season would have been included but I think games being cancelled because of Co-vid meant that it wasn't. We would have been well clear at that point.
From memory, Newcastle strengthened in January of that season buying Asprilla but they didn't win the League.
6.) 20 Feb 2025 14:08:53
Conceding cheap goals against United, Everton, Plymouth, Wolves and Villa in as many games is very much evidence of defensive and midfield frailty, to say otherwise is being obtuse at best and dishonest at worst. Truth is, anything less than two wins against City and Newcastle is going to give Arsenal a boost and momentum is everything in these situations. Lose both of them and we could be in trouble as I feel if Arsenal get ahead, we won’t catch them. The hubris round here that they can’t or won’t catch us is off the scale and is borderline arrogance.
The comparison with Newcastle falling apart seems pretty reasonable as a quick check on the week by week stats for 23/ 2/ 96 shows that Newcastle were leading by 7 points, after having had a double digit lead some weeks before and they were going through a run of drawing games and conceding cheap goals.
This is without mentioning our own capitulation last season under fairly similar circumstances.
Failure to invest adequately in the squad will be our downfall again as it always is in these circumstances. We are plainly running on fumes and we lack quality in depth to be able to rotate. Gravenberch and Mac Allister are absolutely knackered as there’s no decent capable option to rotate them for. The Plymouth game exposed the myth that we have the “best squad in the league”.
7.) 20 Feb 2025 14:12:44
Context and nuance required, as ever. To those challenging the defensive frailty comment, yes we have a good defensive record if you consider the whole of this season, so on the face of it, VV is a bit unreasonable. We're second only to Arsenal on goals against.
However, that is propped up somewhat by how tight we were defensively at the start of the season. Just two goals conceded in our first seven league matches. Five clean sheets in seven. However, since then, we've only managed five further clean sheets in the next nineteen matches. We've conceded two or more goals on eight occasions in those last nineteen league matches. That's two or more goals conceded in almost half of those nineteen matches. And five conceded in the last three matches.
So I don't think it's completely wide of the mark for VV to suggest we're currently showing a bit of defensive frailty.
8.) 20 Feb 2025 15:32:50
but the league is over a 38 game span RR, your going to have ups and downs. At the moment were conceding but with Everton the form team in the league and Villa undefeated at home since October these are difficult games. Plymouth was a peno with a total back up team and for all the draws lately i think the only really poor performance was Utd at home. But even in a mini slump for us were still undefeated, these points could end up very important come May.
9.) 20 Feb 2025 15:40:05
I heard on the radio this morning we haven’t kept two consecutive clean sheets since September. We were tight until December defensively, since then less so.
We can also say we have won the most points in the champions league this season. Problem is the trophy is won in May so it’s irrelevant, it’s about our form between now and then.
Fitness experts will know better than most of us, but if the team are knackered is there a realistic prospect we can recover our first team sharpness and fitness from this point on. Or given the games are piling up is there no chance of recovery short of resting more first choice players.
It’s not really injury or loss of form or confidence that’s killing us it’s fitness, and that’s just exposing our weaknesses and leading to more mistakes defensively but also causing a lack of sharpness in passing and transition which is where we’re best.
10.) 20 Feb 2025 16:16:29
Why are we anymore tired than anyone else? Our game has changed since Klopp- we use less energy.
The fitness thing does not tell the story, at least not to my eyes.
I think our true level is emerging -we have been overperforming and everyone else underperforming. Tifo or the athletic did a video about this a while back using all of the available data.
Grav is being marked out of games and we lack grit at times.
11.) 20 Feb 2025 17:16:54
We’re tired partly because we’ve gone deep in three competitions, main issue though is that we’ve basically done it with a core of about 13 players for the important games.
I’d agree we shouldn't be more tired than others, but it looks like we are. We are light in squad quality in midfield and defence, certainly if we want to compete through to May in the big competitions.
12.) 20 Feb 2025 18:00:09
The Newcastle comparison is wildly off. They played like Ange’s Spurs, but as though our Darwin was in charge of tactics. We are still mighty difficult to beat - but we aren’t winning games because we don’t have a centre forward on goal-scoring form. Jota always takes a run of games to get his radar back, but Darwin is now terrified of scoring oportunities.
After West Ham, Arsenal have a nasty run of games.
13.) 20 Feb 2025 18:57:30
We were never seven points clear last season and Newcastle strengthened in the January but didn't win the League.
14.) 20 Feb 2025 19:18:05
Cody may be back in light training tomorrow, so could make the bench at the weekend. Looks like we’ll have to go with Diaz, Mo and Jota again.
15.) 20 Feb 2025 19:55:18
If you had to bet your life on it, do we win or loose the league this season?
16.) 20 Feb 2025 20:12:34
We’ve gone deep in 3 competitions?
We’ve only gone deeper than other teams in the league cup and that’s where we didn’t use just the 13 core players.
As far as league and CL go we’ve gone as deep as 19 and 16 other teams.
17.) 20 Feb 2025 20:18:02
What is becoming concerning is how often we allow the opposition to score with their first shot on target or via avoidable situations, it then only piles the pressure on the forwards to respond.
We have kept three clean sheets in our last 13 league matches and in that run have drawn six times, conceding at least two in five of them.
It requires more work and effort at a time when players are becoming increasingly tired, it is creating some tension and Liverpool are becoming their own worst enemy as a result.
18.) 20 Feb 2025 20:59:53
Getting ahead of myself JK, you’re right. Let’s see who we land in the CL as well, but not confident we’ll get past the next round tbh.
19.) 20 Feb 2025 21:38:25
Jordan no worries mate. I enjoy reading your comments bud.
I’m just glad we avoided that last round as it came during our drop off but then I suppose if we did play in it then the Everton and Villa games wouldn’t have happened.
20.) 20 Feb 2025 23:08:22
If we win comfortably at City this week, do the above arguments about fitness, form and 90’s Newcastle become redundant?
21.) 20 Feb 2025 23:54:59
@Victor, you are talking about 5 or 6 mistakes leading to goals by a defence that has played approaching 36 games this season.
Our first two choice goal keepers are full internationals playing regularly for their country, our two first choices for right back are full internationals. Our two first choice CBs are full choice internationals and our two first choice left back are also full internationals. Becker, Konate, Van Dijk and Robertson (and maybe even Bradley - though I stand to be corrected) have or do captain their country.
Taking the last two transfer windows who would you have brought in to replace the defence we have? Are you talking about spending £60m on two or three defenders who would be a back-up or are you talking about £100m on two starters.
It’s easy to say “we” need to invest but it gets a teeny bit trickier when you try to identify realistic targets who can not only play, but can play the way the club / coach wants to play and 2ho also have the right character to fit in with, and improve the squad.
It also doesn’t help much that every time the club is linked with a player (regardless of the link being real or not) there is an immediate outburst of moronic statements about each and every players’ perceived failings with the critic generally having the benefit of about 3 minutes of clips - without any context to any game - of YouTube.
22.) 21 Feb 2025 04:21:11
I have to agree with Viktor on this. We have been defensively frail of late and our midfield has been overrun more often than not. The only thing I disagree with is the part about running on fumes. Physically, I think our players are alright. They have had rest during the cup games, like against Plymouth and PSV. So I think the main problem is psychological.
I do agree that we need players though since Slot clearly doesn't trust players outside the 14 or 15 he has selected so far. The squad players, like Chiesa, Elliott, and Endo, have so little minutes and are lacking in match fitness so they can't be relied on to come in and change a game.
23.) 21 Feb 2025 05:29:03
I really think it's about time that victor and wdw just booked a room.
24.) 21 Feb 2025 06:12:16
If Liverpool do win a league title this year, it will be bizarre to look back on a year of doom and gloom and double negative posts on here about a team (should they win the league) that sat at the top for pretty much the whole campaign.
25.) 21 Feb 2025 12:02:19
Were the best team by some distance in England, were in the middle of a hard run but will still win the league comfortably. Arsenal will drop more points than us.
26.) 21 Feb 2025 21:16:07
In the words of the fiddler on the roof, Kevin Keegan, I'd lovvvv it if we beat them.
27.) 21 Feb 2025 21:38:55
@Walkon, we did but as soon as we got there @Victor started complaining about the carpet and the curtains and the room being too small and the windows facing north and how the room looked a bit tired in general and how we needed a new room for next season, so it just didn’t work out.
28.) 22 Feb 2025 06:29:54
For me Arsenal have the slightly easier run in but we have the advantage of playing them at home. We win that it destroys their belief (on the basis we still have a slight lead on them at the time of the game) . Yes we’ve got city and Newcastle next but I think they will struggle away to Forest so if we match their next 2 results I will be more than happy. CL will be tough, but league is priority. Then hopefully we get the contracts sorted and get some additional players in.
29.) 22 Feb 2025 17:13:59
LFC should have the best defence in the league, not the second best.
Up the Hammers, just done Arteta whose wife has also phoned him just now to say he's not having boiled ham for his tea, but "West Ham" instead.
Anything less than a point tomorrow will be an absolute disaster, about time LFC started playing like Premier League Champions again.
30.) 23 Feb 2025 06:42:48
“An absolute disaster” eh?
31.) 24 Feb 2025 15:13:45
Disaster averted.
16 Jan 2025 10:50:44
If it's true TAA has agreed terms with Real Madrid he should not play again this season. It shows a complete lack of respect if it's true. I know it's Marca but there could be something in it.
1.) 16 Jan 2025 11:32:07
He’ll be professional whichever way it goes. I wish the lad well either way but would prefer clarity. He’s given the club 20 years service and gets dogs abuse when not warranted.
2.) 16 Jan 2025 11:32:55
And if it's not true then you should not post on here for the rest of the season.
3.) 16 Jan 2025 11:41:30
The Spanish press said the same about Alphonso Davies and he's actually signing a new deal with Bayern. Wouldn't read too much into it.
4.) 16 Jan 2025 11:44:10
That’s called cutting your nose off to spite your face.
So childish. I want to have the best chance of winning and if Trent goes at the end of the season I’ll be gutted, thank him for all he’s done and wish him luck.
5.) 16 Jan 2025 11:46:06
I say if he's our best choice, play him. We don't know what's holding up the talks or if he's agreed to join RM.
The if's and but's bandwagon is just us contributing to a negative narrative over our homegrown vice-captain who have done so much.
Judge him at the end of the season if you want, but not now.
6.) 16 Jan 2025 11:59:22
Not playing one of the best right backs in the world that you're paid the best part of £200k a week when you're chasing a title. No sure that's the most sensible thing to do to be honest.
7.) 16 Jan 2025 12:04:45
The hypocrisy. Marmadashvili, Keita, Origi etc. Did you have an issue with them when they agreed to sign for Liverpool and then played out another year at Valencia, Leipzig and Lille? This literally happens all the time in football. Professional players got to that level through sheer force of will to be the best they can be. You honestly think that with 4 trophies still available, Trent would give anything less than 100%?
8.) 16 Jan 2025 12:06:58
Why does it show lack of respect? he's able to sign the contract this month, who can blame him if he does go? I know a lot will but no blame from me that's for sure, I wish the lad the best of luck if he does go but in the meantime we should absolutely still play him because 1. He's the best RB we have and 2. He's still on our books been paid by us, you want him to sit and rot because you're not happy that he may be leaving? give it a rest.
9.) 16 Jan 2025 12:17:43
If it’s true (if being the caveat), then we only have ourselves to blame here. Leaving it so late to deal with things like this leaves us open to others making offers we may not be able to match. As it is, if he’s being offered a substantial uplift in salary and a playing for a club where he’s likely to win the league and champions league more often than not, then it probably is a very tempting offer. My ire is saved for those who took their eye off the ball and allowed it to get this far.
10.) 16 Jan 2025 12:21:00
Do you want to win the league or not?
11.) 16 Jan 2025 12:37:45
There’s something like eighty players finishing contracts in the premier this year, it happens all the time sometimes club want that, sometimes the player.
The only thing with us is it’s three of our top four or five most experienced players, which looks like bad planning in terms of why put them on contracts that expired around the same time rather than stagger it.
Truth is though with VVD and Mo very few people would have expected them to still be showing this fitness and form as they come to the end of their deals at their ages, it would have been really risky to give them longer deals originally. Trent is a different issue.
They may yet sign, who knows what’s going on in their heads.
12.) 16 Jan 2025 12:42:01
I agree to play Trent, not many can ping passes like him. however I just think we might be better with Bradley for a few games, to tighten up at the back. Until alli and konate get back to speed.
13.) 16 Jan 2025 13:04:23
It shows a lack of respect to TAA and Slot. I wonder what Slot's reaction would be to being told who he can and can't pick.
And I wonder what Salah and van Dijk would think. It'd amount to blackmail.
14.) 16 Jan 2025 14:19:01
The scrutiny in Trent's defending is over the top for me. Bradley has been at fault for a couple of goals this season too, where he either let a winger go past him or was caught out of position but nothing has been mentioned of it. Not saying that we should get on Bradley's back though, just pointing out that Trent's defending is being harshly used as a stick to beat him with.
15.) 16 Jan 2025 15:02:10
I wish I could agree to a new job and have my old one pay me to sit at home for 6 months.
16.) 16 Jan 2025 15:08:04
JimJim - Post of 2025.
17.) 16 Jan 2025 15:37:08
If he’s leaving we should get every drop out of him play him until his body can’t play anymore and let Madrid deal with it after.
18.) 16 Jan 2025 15:57:31
Absolutely not onekiss. I want him to do well wherever he may end up. Thinking that way is silly, we should be wanting the best for one of our own, he's shown nothing but respect for the club and the fans so why can't fans show him the same respect he deserves?
19.) 16 Jan 2025 16:10:42
It’s being covered fairly widely both in England and Spain that he’s going to announce soon. Good luck to him in Madrid, I think it’ll really suit him playing wise to be honest, and it’s a great way for him to end his peak playing years. Hopefully he doesn’t score against us in the champions league. I think Connors ready to step up.
20.) 16 Jan 2025 16:22:37
He certainly didn’t show respect v Man U recently. Walking and watching our biggest rivals score against us at home. Trent should be judged at the end of the season like everyone else.
There are games where I would start Bradley ahead of Trent.
21.) 16 Jan 2025 16:25:35
Alvy, he played in our last game.
22.) 16 Jan 2025 17:29:53
I know Rigsby, it's just a comment on how ridiculous I find this whole "He shouldn't play again if he's signed a new contract somewhere else" opinion. It's some of the dumbest flummery I've ever heard in my life.
23.) 16 Jan 2025 17:58:52
All I want from Trent is for him to give his all, blood sweat and tears (of joy) until the last game of season. However I personally think he should come out with a statement confirming he has decided to leave for Real Madrid but hopes 1 day to return to the club he loves and finish his career. Think the fans would appreciate that more myself and cheer him every game as they should… been a great.
24.) 16 Jan 2025 18:26:34
I agree a statement would be great on Trent, and a dignified way to close this off. Be better than it hanging around unsaid for any longer once a decision is reached.
Nice to conclude all three actually, even if that’s to confirm that they’re all going to leave. The more you think about this even though the media focus has moved on for now it’s not good for it to be unresolved, no matter how professional they are it must be a distraction and from the club and fan point of view we need to move on and focus on the future.
25.) 16 Jan 2025 18:52:19
MK, your point isn't true though. Those players were signed by us and then stayed on loan.
TAA, if he has agreed to go, isn't staying with us on loan but as our own player and then leaves. So, yes his actions would ve different to those you mentioned.
26.) 16 Jan 2025 20:17:51
Bazzinga, It’s ultimately the same concept though. You’re just on a 12 month delay instead of a 6 month delay. Lot’s of teams sign players and then wait for them to join at a later date was my point. Whether it’s pre-contract, or loan back, neither are remotely disrespectful. What’s disrespectful is people looking for reasons to hate a guy who will be remembered as a Liverpool legend one day, regardless of whether he stays.
{Ed025's Note - not sure about the legend status MK..
27.) 17 Jan 2025 01:46:00
drop him if he is playing poorly.
ya don't drop your best players just cos you're feelings are hurt.
24 Apr 2024 11:38:58
Sky Sports saying we've opened negotiations with Slot but they also said the same about Amorin a couple of weeks ago so wait and see I guess.
1.) 24 Apr 2024 11:44:09
They're reporting that we've started negotiating with Feyenoord.
2.) 24 Apr 2024 11:53:10
Arne Slot that much of a good manager he got sacked in 2020 for losing focus by AZ Alkmaar. Another Rodger’s. Yes man.
3.) 24 Apr 2024 11:58:59
Ok Liverpool open talks with Feyenoord over Arne Slot. Hope it makes you feel better.
4.) 24 Apr 2024 12:10:15
He was sacked because they found out he was In negotiations with Feynoord DanDan.
A club statement said something along the lines of “we want a manager who’s solely focused on AZ”
Do your reaserch before leaving silly comments.
5.) 24 Apr 2024 12:26:11
His record in European football is shocking. Feyenoord in last 5 ucl/ yep have been 3 defeats and 2 draws. We’re definitely heading backwards to a mid table mediocrity team with this new regime. We’ve appointed the hole of Bournemouth top staff lol who operate at the lower part of the table looked like this isn’t going to end well.
6.) 24 Apr 2024 12:28:08
@ joeyred lol ? he’s drawn 3 games and lost 2 in ucl/ ecl do your research pal. Going to be shambles.
7.) 24 Apr 2024 12:38:17
At JoeyTheRed. does that mean Feyenoord tapped him up
And here I thought Liverpool are the only culprits of tapping up ?.
8.) 24 Apr 2024 12:54:40
How dare a bloke not win CL games whilst managing known European Powerhouse Feynoord.
9.) 24 Apr 2024 13:08:35
Ah look lads, id imagine there'll be plenty of Dandans on here over the next few weeks. just let them have their fun.
10.) 24 Apr 2024 13:13:06
I genuinely know nothing about Arne Slot or his football. The same could be said of Ruben Amorim.
I do feel a bit uneasy about all of this. But hey, what do I know.
It does sound like the new structure wants a head coach over a manager and that recruitment power will be returned to the nerds.
Revenge of the Nerds.
11.) 24 Apr 2024 13:26:45
DanDan is a new account all. Troll season is incoming.
12.) 24 Apr 2024 13:31:28
Also ignoring the two CL group games Feynoord won early this season and their run to the Europa Quarter Finals last season. Remind me, what stage of the EL did we get knocked out at?
Genuinely quite sad someone needs to be that selective about a club's record to have a dig at their manager.
13.) 24 Apr 2024 13:34:04
@judeNkunu just stating facts pal plenty of people like me concerned about how we’re going about things. Grow up.
14.) 24 Apr 2024 13:45:12
I'm with you fly.
Plus when we signed Klopp it was the same with him.
Klopp was signed for his brand of football which if true could be happening here.
We won't just sign a manager for his big name, it will be one that suits our style and vision.
15.) 24 Apr 2024 13:48:42
I understand where you’re coming from DanDan, his European record concerned me too.
I’m just trying to be optimistic. Because, if not him who?
Almorin would be my preference, but he himself is vastly inexperienced. Younger then slot in a similar standard of league.
Alonso even would have been a massive gamble. He’s only managed 90 odd games for god sakes.
Whoever comes in after Klopp will probably struggle. Just hope they have the mentality and character to steady the ship after the storm.
16.) 24 Apr 2024 13:59:25
I'm confused now Dandan. Is it 3 draws and 2 losses or 2 losses and 3 draws? Doesn't seem like you can make up your mind what his record is in Europe.
And if you had really bothered to do your research, you would have known that his record in the UCL and UEL reads as 10 wins, 10 draws, and 11 losses. If you're looking at his European record in totality (including qualifying rounds and the UECL) it would read as 25 wins, 18 draws, and 14 losses. Bearing in mind that he got this record while managing Feyenoord and Az Alkmaar, I would say it's a fairly decent record.
17.) 24 Apr 2024 14:23:50
Thanks for understanding Joeythered. I was also hoping it would be Amorim. But don’t think it’s going to happen now. I don’t know who else it could be tbh. Only Alonso but he’s staying there now. If we do get slot hope he proves me wrong and he does well for us. And I’ll get behind him but there nothing wrong with being concerned at all.
18.) 24 Apr 2024 15:11:35
Autocorrect it was 3 draws and 2 losses. Dracred. Yes I did put it wrong in one of the message so what. Dutch league is nothing. I just think he’s going to turn out to be another ten Haag. Just my thinking and so what if I’m concerned of who we’re approaching and what I have to say about how I feel about him.
19.) 24 Apr 2024 15:30:21
Absolutely not DanDan.
Hope he proves the doubters and skeptics wrong.
I think the last few weeks have proved we really do need new energy. A youthful manager with new ideas to carry us on further then the great Jurgen has!
20.) 24 Apr 2024 16:38:22
Calm down DANDAN. we're all DESPERATE for success.
I'll get my coat!
21.) 24 Apr 2024 18:35:42
A development coach, that won't rock the boat too much, until Xabi becomes available?
Thankfully there is no scent of David Brent in Slot's team talks, whilst he doesn't have the presence of Klopp. but who does?
22.) 24 Apr 2024 19:42:14
Right so let’s analyse this shocking European record shall we.
This season;
Champions League
Feyenoord 2 - 0 Celtic
Athletico Madrid 3 - 2 Feyenoord
Feyenoord 3 - 1 Lazio
Lazio 1 - 0 Feyenoord
Feyenoord 1 - 3 Athletico Madrid
Celtic 2 - 1 Feyenoord
Europa League
Feyenoord 1 - 1 Roma
Roma 1 - 1 Feyenoord (knocked out on pens)
Absolutely shocking that….
Last year - in the Europa League
- Finished top of their group (just) with Lazio, Midtjylland and Sturm Graz
- beat Shakhtar 8-2 in the last 16
Got beat 4-2 on aggregate to Roma in quarters
And the year before
- runner up in the Conference league losing the final 1-0 to Roma having beat Partizan, Sparta Prague and Marseille on route to the final.
I might be just be easier to please but given who he has been managing and what resources he has had I wouldn’t call that shocking. It isn’t world beating, sure. But certainly not shocking.
Can we knock the hyperbole down a little eh….
23.) 24 Apr 2024 20:23:59
Loving the positivity of Dan Dan - NOT.
24.) 24 Apr 2024 20:38:44
If we only hired managers that had good managerial records or won loads of trophies then we would not have had Shankly, Paisley, Fagan or Dalglish.
Give people a chance.
25.) 25 Apr 2024 11:06:27

Those comments from that Arsenal supporter are absolutely outrageous. The better team won the leg now they are resorting to mud slinging. No better than someone that uses Hillsborough slurs.
1.) 13 May 2025 15:15:08
Endo what comments?
2.) 13 May 2025 15:35:22
Online they’re all crying because of the banner of arteta in a dress. Woudlnt pay any attention the amount of ‘do they have WiFi in the job centre’ replies i've gotten is insane. They’re just miffed that they’ll eternally be an after thought club.
3.) 13 May 2025 15:52:50
Some of those lads could do with staying humble.
4.) 13 May 2025 15:57:19
Labelling us all racist.
5.) 13 May 2025 16:08:20
Lol that banner was hilarious. ?
They are all backing Arteta now but it's a dangerous position to be in because next season if they don't win anything I see players like Saka, Rice and Saliba wanting to move on. Maybe they'll get another manager but may lose their best players. Supporting Arteta? So far has done them no good, I hope to Christ they continue supporting him because they have a good team who can win things - just not under him.
I find it funny I must admit, let them throw their toys out of the pram, no big deal. We can enjoy winning the league.
6.) 13 May 2025 17:03:42
Madrid are already trying to get saliva to run down his contract. You're right there salah.
7.) 13 May 2025 17:49:14
Spot on Salah ?.
8.) 13 May 2025 18:06:04
Is Saliva the "spitting" image of Saliba?
9.) 13 May 2025 18:29:59
He's certainly easy to dribble passed. I'm here all week.
10.) 13 May 2025 22:46:48
Well done Arsenal on winning Olympic 100m gold, the Tour de France, the Ryder Cup and Undisputed Heavyweight boxing champion of the world.
05 May 2025 10:16:44
He's gone so time to move on. Best of luck to him.
{Ed025's Note - i second that mate..
1.) 05 May 2025 10:21:35
Awh thank God it's officially announced. Thanks Trent but we keep going YNWA.
2.) 05 May 2025 10:22:15
Yeah gutted, good luck Trent mate!
3.) 05 May 2025 10:36:48
You do realise he going for free? It’s not like we don’t need the money is it. Plenty players have signed small extensions just so their current club gets some funds.
Trent will fit right in at RM, let's hope in he doesn’t win any European cups and Liverpool win a couple. Will be very interesting to see the reception he gets from the Liverpool crowd.
4.) 05 May 2025 10:39:23
Would be easier to wish him well if it wasn't Madrid he was going to, but thanks for the memories Trent.
I must say I'm excited to see a full season out of Bradley. Different player, but his underlapping of Salah and crossing to a competent CF should be a big weapon next season.
5.) 05 May 2025 10:39:43
I'm definitely not gutted he's going lad's but I'm not bitter either. As the great Ed002 always said"Players are transient"
6.) 05 May 2025 10:41:53
He divides opinion, even on The Kop. I, along with loads of others on here, called it correct when we predicted he would go and the other 2 would stay. Some are angry, I'm just indifferent. I wish him well in his new surroundings. Personally, I never considered him to be a world class full back, but a very good one and unique with what he could do with the ball, something which we are going to miss. We will need to replace him in the summer, because Bradley can't be replied upon. Whether that be a Milner type replacement who can slot in, or a defender who can also cover centre back. We will find out in the coming months. Thanks for the memories, Trent.
7.) 05 May 2025 10:54:56
What sort of reception do you think he will get now Rome? I can’t see it being a good one.
8.) 05 May 2025 11:02:05
I’d like to think the best fans in the world would get over themselves and give him a good reception. Total waste of energy to bring negative vibes into the stadium.
It’s not like he’s dragged the saga into the media like *cough cough* sooommeeboddy.
9.) 05 May 2025 11:06:26
A good question, Mark. When I was there last Sunday the "booers" were in a small minority. I still think they'll be in the minority but there'll be more of them, I reckon.
Personally, I don't blame the club. How can you force a player to sign a contract, or sell him against his wishes. I suppose in that regard, maybe Trent could've extended his contract a couple of years back, with the proviso that he could leave if Madrid, Barca, or whoever come in for him. What do I know, not a lot.
10.) 05 May 2025 11:06:57
Nah Markp08, we don't. IMO, we don't need the money if all we were getting is 20m from RM in Jan. whereas we have a chance to win the title. Sorry, that's not a trade off that I want anything to do with.
As for a player signing a contract extension so we can get something for him, clearly he didn't want to do that cos RM only wanted him on a free and clearly, he wanted to join them at all costs so he went on a free. IMO (based on stuff I have read here and elsewhere), those were the conditions so why would he sign a small extension if those were the terms?
Trent's gone. He worked his socks off to get to this point and helped us climb to the top twice in the PL and the whole world along the way while amassing a bag of other trophies to boot. Trent was celebrated after the title last week by the Kop even tho, they all knew he would more than likely go. It is what it is. Good luck to him.
11.) 05 May 2025 11:07:44
Salah gutted? you have done nothing but slate him.
12.) 05 May 2025 11:32:40
Look I'll choose not to be bitter TAA gave his all to the club. He was part of a team that gave us our first title in 30 years a European Cup, FA cup, two league cups and another league title. If people can't appreciate that then you can't be helped.
13.) 05 May 2025 11:45:24
Kloppofthenortheast, what is it with people like you making things up? twice in one week, get a grip and show me one time I've ever slated Trent, I'll wait.

Bear with me I'm going to use a bit of Arsenal fan logic here. Liverpool the team about to win the PL are going to be the worst ever team to win it. So that worst team ever to win the PL beat Real Madrid this season. So beating them really isn't that big of a deal.
1.) 17 Apr 2025 07:57:46
Well done, Arsenal, eh? ?.
2.) 17 Apr 2025 08:15:22
Well done to the Gunners, fantastic job ?.
3.) 17 Apr 2025 08:18:50
I have to say also the Bellingham, Mbappe, Vinicius etc were pretty crap, totally ineffective. Bellingham spent more time throwing players to the ground than anything else. Good to see them go out, can’t stand knobs ?♂️?.
4.) 17 Apr 2025 08:59:59
Thought Villa were brilliant Tuesday night and Arsenal got the job done last night. Saka is some player mind.
Don’t watch Arsenal games so took the leap last night and thought he was excellent. Totally unfazed by his penalty miss as well.
5.) 17 Apr 2025 09:11:23
There are no clear favorites this time. Makes the competition worthy of watching it. People were drooling over how mighty PSG are this time around because they ripped us to shreds. Well Aston Villa took them to cleaners. Inter look solid as well.
If we had moved on form #Thisteamcannotbeimproved we would be playing Arsenal in the semi final.
6.) 17 Apr 2025 09:12:13
Two great games JK ?
Saka took a fair amount of treatment from the Madrid players, still didn’t stop him. What was he thinking with that penalty tho? Great when they go in but you look like a tube when they don’t ?
Arsenal V PSG will be a great game too.
7.) 17 Apr 2025 09:26:06
I'm in the minority in wanting PSG to beat Arsenal. I don't want any other English side to win the CL. Big Ears is ours!
8.) 17 Apr 2025 09:30:06
Harry
Villa got beat 5-4 on aggregate. We were beat on penalties, that’s the reality. Appreciate you don’t like to deal with reality sometimes tho ??.
9.) 17 Apr 2025 09:34:36
Saka is a great player with the caveat that he doesn’t score enough.
10.) 17 Apr 2025 09:35:55
Did Villa really take them to the cleaners? To me it seemed PSG came and ended the tie early, were 5-1 up on aggregate and started to take liberties. Villa did well to take advantage but even after conceding a coupla goals PSG still had numerous chances to put Villa to bed. PSG and Arsenal should be a good tie, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see PSG lift the trophy.
11.) 17 Apr 2025 09:36:00
Rome1971.I'm with you. I don't want any English team winning Big ears . I like that we've won it the most n it kills other teams n fans that we've won it 6 times. petty I know. but so what ha.
12.) 17 Apr 2025 09:45:25
Arsenal, who are 13pts behind the leaders in the worst PL in years just battered Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate?
Something doesn’t add up here.
13.) 17 Apr 2025 09:49:07
Same here Rome, I hope PSG get them dealt with. I'm glad they knocked Madrid out because well - it's Madrid but now I think PSG will sort them out.
14.) 17 Apr 2025 10:24:21
Stromsgodset, nothing wrong with being petty. I've a degree in pettiness!
15.) 17 Apr 2025 11:11:38
The reality is we couldn’t hit a barn door against PSG while Aston Villa scored 3 at home inside 60 minutes when they had all to play for!
Arsenal have the best defense in Europe. They will beat PSG.
{Ed025's Note - i think so too AB..
16.) 17 Apr 2025 11:04:21
Fair play to Arsenal beat them well. Can’t stand Madrid at all. Time for the post Mortem, Ancelotti will probably end up sacked now and into the Brazil job.
17.) 17 Apr 2025 11:49:54
We beat PSG too Harry, maybe you forgot that, we just didn’t concede 5 at the same time. Football isn’t just about scoring goals. I mean that’s pretty obvious, right?
18.) 17 Apr 2025 12:02:45
Do Arsenal have the best defence in Europe Harry. I know Napoli and Althletico have conceded less in their respective Leagues? If you only mean in the CL then Inter Milan must be pushing them close, they only conceded one goal in the League stages.
Of course its not just about a teams defence either ?.
19.) 17 Apr 2025 12:30:01
Nah seriously though, well done Arsenal played some great stuff and so solid defensively - Real had their 1st shot on target in the 55th minute, at home mind
Bar his weird penalty, Saka was great. Rice was unreal over both legs - best of luck to Arsenal ??.
20.) 17 Apr 2025 12:50:13
Well Irish, Arsenal have the best defense despite of not having their full defense at their disposal. I rate inter. They are hard to beat but Napoli and Atletico? Seriously! Arsenal would take them to planet Mars. This is with Merino upfront ?
Take out Allison and we would have conceded 5 in Paris.
21.) 17 Apr 2025 18:32:39
I mean Arsenal have conceded 4 less goals than us in 32 league games, whilst we’ve also outscored them by 17.
Feel free to keep up your usual hyperbolic nonsense and leave the supporting reality to people who actually support Liverpool, not the latest fad.
29 Mar 2025 08:03:12
Seriously the pelters TAA is getting it's uncalled for. Let the guy get on with his career. He was part of a team that won us the title after 30 year's. He's part of the reason the Mancs can't throw that in our faces anymore . He's part of the reason Everton fans shouted for City and Spurs. He's part of the reason we are Liverpool football club. He gave us nights like Barcelona. He gave us nights like the Bernabu. The Fa cup the league cup twice. Remember the good times because hate will eat you alive.
1.) 29 Mar 2025 08:58:38
Spot on, Endo3. Dwelling on the bad or dwelling on the great things is always a choice. I choose to focus on all the good memories cos the hate is just too much of a burden to bear.
2.) 29 Mar 2025 12:28:09
I’m not pelting Trent but I don’t have to commend him either. I don’t want to support players who want out, him, Owen and McManaman are part of the same crowd for me.
3.) 29 Mar 2025 12:54:16
Agreed Endo, it's gone way too far - a bunch of fools giving him hassle for wanting a change, it's gobsmacking. I saw a video of some div burning his shirt for attention, absolute tool. I'd like to say it's just the younger lot but it's not, we've got men acting like teenagers about a fkn footballer wanting more from life. People wonder why he wants out? he's had hassle for a good 6 months, I'd be exactly the same. Stay loyal to 'fans' who aren't loyal? no thank you. Good luck to the lad, he'll go to Madrid and absolutely smash it, there's only one person laughing at the end of it all.
4.) 29 Mar 2025 13:17:45
Liverpool have two competitive rivals for major honours and talent - Man City and Real Madrid.
Trent, a Scouser and LFC fan, is joining a rival on a free transfer at peak age. That is a fact.
You decide on how you want to feel about that.
5.) 29 Mar 2025 15:06:32
Poor Hughes, Edwards and Ward have getting hassle off grown men these last 6 months too Salah. Totally outa order.
6.) 29 Mar 2025 15:12:55
I feel verbal abuse is not acceptable.
7.) 29 Mar 2025 17:12:10
FM, it's been warranted though, has it not? and it's not been abuse - it's been discussions about how they aren't doing their jobs as they should be doing.
Trent and his situation is completely different and you know it is so don't start that nonsense.
8.) 29 Mar 2025 17:36:36
Fly pelican I'll tell you why I don't care Trent gave his all for Liverpool. It's not like Kenny Daglish is leaving our club. It's time to take a step back. We will be fine.
11 May 2025 12:58:32
I actually had time for Arsenal until this season now I absolutely hate them and their supporters.
19 Apr 2025 11:55:32
No it's not.
13 Apr 2025 09:20:24
Which afternoon?
29 Mar 2025 08:46:48
Wow do you believe in Father Christmas as well ?
21 Mar 2025 16:26:14
As you mentioned Gakpo we announced him before the transfer window opened and VVD if my memory serves me right.
13 May 2025 15:57:19
Labelling us all racist.
05 May 2025 11:32:40

20 Apr 2025 18:47:56
And he goes with most sane peoples blessing. Two league titles, FA cup, two league cups and a Champions League and the club World Cup. He's a legend.
13 Apr 2025 09:21:30
Yes Viktor absolute **** the lot of them.
29 Mar 2025 17:36:36
