Ed01.your opinion only. do you believe TAA is gone? .
{Ed001's Note - yes. It really does seem he is going. He is still saying nothing but the club are letting it leak.}
1.) 29 Mar 2025 12:34:44
Trent has obviously been working on this for many months. He is the one was should grow a pair and be responsible for his own actions.
All this going to the fans and making talking gestures to his ear. It’s out of order when he knew he was leaving. The sooner Bradley is fit the better.
2.) 29 Mar 2025 12:46:41
I was disappointed with previous top players leaving but always felt they were replaceable. technically I know Trent also is to some extent but this feels different. I believe he is a generational talent who's passing ability is one of the best I've ever seen. His absence will be an enormous loss to the first 11. It's a pity that the club couldn't have sorted this out with him and really that seems like a backwards step for LfC in all respects. He'll shine brightly in sunny Madrid unfortunately for us.
3.) 29 Mar 2025 13:06:16
I know mark, running after scoring telling everyone to shut up, shut up about what mate? you're going so they were right after all so its you who should shut it trent!
4.) 29 Mar 2025 13:13:54
I firmly believe that all these ‘leaks’ are stemming from Liverpool which is understandable as they want to control the narrative and manage supported expectation and potential anger for allowing this situation to occur. There is information coming out daily about the club doing everything, making lucrative offers but that TAA just wants a new opportunity and as such the club are powerless. Like with everything there are 3 sides here, the players perspective, the clubs and then reality some place in between.
There are some rediculous rubbish online about Trent being a traitor, signing Madrid shirts already and criticising him for leaving on a free. I think it’s important to remember that yes he is a boyhood fan from Liverpool but he is also an employee and they are a club/ business and both sides are naturally going to look out for their own best interests just as we all do in our profession capacity. Just as people are saying Trent should stay because he is a Liverpudlian the same could be said about the club that they should have done everything and given him whatever to keep him.
I for one and happy for Trent to move on, he has been a loyal and good player for the club, has brought us success and now he wants to try something new. Trent is a talented lad but football and teams move on and we will strengthen and evolve as a team as a result. Hopefully we win the title, Trent gets a good send off and everyone can be satisfied with what was achieved collectively and embrace the next chapter.
5.) 29 Mar 2025 13:26:34
Of course he’s gone he was never staying once an ambitious big club came in for him like Madrid.
6.) 29 Mar 2025 13:42:34
Well I say good luck to him. He has been a terrific servant to the club as well as a truly special player. He owes us nothing he has won every trophy and I think we should all wish him well and move on
Up the pool.
7.) 29 Mar 2025 14:52:52
fair enough Dow-ney but he should have told Real to do one when they made it clear they only wanted him while paying no fee.
8.) 29 Mar 2025 16:38:00
What do you mean he owes the club nothing? The club has trained him for 20 years. As a club we need more income. Selling Trent for £70m would have certainly helped the clubs immediate future.
9.) 29 Mar 2025 16:42:18
I still don't buy the narrative that RM told him that, Florian.
10.) 29 Mar 2025 16:46:02
I wouldn't have a problem with Trent leaving if it wasnt the things he said in the past. How it was his dream to captain Liverpool, that he's just a normal lad whos dream came True and the way he kept going on about "it means more" for Liverpool. and then proceeds to talk to another club.
People going on about how they understand because an ambitious big club came knocking. well what is Liverpool then? A farmers team a la Wolves? I don't think Real offered higher wages. so what could the club have done more except perhaps start negotiating earlier?
Footballers care more about their brand and image nowadays then during Totti and Gerrards era. I get that. But if you want to paint the image of yourself as the local lad that supporters want as the next captain fantastic and then go on and leave for free. of course people going to turn on him.
Sorry, english is not my first language.
11.) 29 Mar 2025 17:27:45
We aren’t a big club. We can’t even get a home grown lad to sign, even though we are going to win the league. We are Madrids play thing.
12.) 29 Mar 2025 18:14:49
Every team is Madrids plaything. I mean if PSG can’t keep Mbappe with all the riches they can throw at him and he walks away on a free transfer then what chance has Liverpool.
Trent ran down his contract, he was offered improved deals and he didn’t want to sign. What can you do ?♂️.
13.) 29 Mar 2025 19:00:51
That's nonsense. Trent's ego is the reason he's leaving. He truly believes that he is capable of winning the balon dor and believes that can't happen anywhere else but Madrid.
14.) 29 Mar 2025 21:36:41
Good luck to the lad. Some people need to give their heads a wobble and get a grip. Trent had been at the club a long time, he's given his all. There's a big wide world out there and he's going to see another small part of it, get to experience living abroad (which his family will experience too) and play for Real Madrid. I wish him all the best. Maybe he'll come back one day? Maybe he won't, that's life. We'll sign another right-back, the world will keep on turning and we'll be fine. Big players have left before, and they'll leave in the future. The club endures. YNWA.
15.) 29 Mar 2025 22:26:31
Change the direction of travel Irish! It should have started with Trent telling them no, sign Isak and going on to win multiple trophies. Never forget RM were a laughing stock until their local council bailed them out and they had many many barren years.
Sustained success can be achieved at Liverpool but not as we currently operate.
16.) 29 Mar 2025 23:01:53
I’m annoyed that he couldn’t just be honest if he loves the club and fans so much and also, that talking celebration is taking the absolute p. However, we will all see what FSG are made of in the summer and that may suggest the reason why Trent left.

Ed01 could you name any player that would be comparable to Wirtz. past or present regardless of club or country.
{Ed001's Note - closest comparison I can think of is David Silva and that is not very close, but in terms of skill level and workrate they compare.}
1.) 24 May 2025 19:43:25
He sure loves a nutmeg or two as well by the looks of it! Looks to be quick off the mark too.
{Ed001's Note - he certainly does love a meg.}
2.) 24 May 2025 20:05:52
Edd001 ball to feet and with his skill he looks like a very famous retired Spanish footballer. Not sure you've heard of him. Iniesta? Wasn't too bad at football.
What. A. Signing. I never thought it was truly on the cards. I can't think of a player we signed in 20 plus years that has his ability. Suarez turned out to be sensational but we didn't know we were signing that. Wirtz looks like a very very special player.
{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't dare to compare someone with Iniesta, but I can see what you mean.}
3.) 24 May 2025 20:30:13
Half kdb half hazard.
4.) 24 May 2025 20:40:00
I’ve described him as a German coutinho a few times and although that may be slightly off I don’t think it’s too far wide of the mark apart from him playing more centrally mostly.
{Ed025's Note - miles better than the one trick pony that was Couts mate..
5.) 24 May 2025 21:53:41
Nonsense Ed, Cout may have gone down the tube since he left us but he was a world class player for us. Scored every type of goal and always assisted.
{Ed025's Note - he was decent but thats about it for me FK, bit of a show pony who was never involved enough and went missing in games..
6.) 24 May 2025 22:25:49
Take your point Ed025 but he was better than you make out and a lot of the time shone in quite a poor Liverpool side, and was instrumental in our 2014 title bid.
{Ed025's Note - scored some great goals and was very talented Tom, but was very lazy at times as well and not one you could count on if you were in a battle mate..
7.) 24 May 2025 22:30:24
Reckon he could nutmeg a mermaid? ?.
{Ed025's Note - love it Murf..
8.) 24 May 2025 23:29:15
I'm with eds025 on Coutinio, show pony, ghosted though tough games and scored 1 in probably 20 chances from outside the box, highlight player .
Florian whirtz on the other hand is a special generational talent, hit YouTube and there's so much from only a couple of yrs of 1st team footy.
9.) 25 May 2025 06:55:32
Couts was definitely not world class.
10.) 25 May 2025 09:01:23
Agree with ed 25 couts had some brilliant moments but everyone looks back with red tinted glasses and only sees the good not his overall game.
11.) 25 May 2025 10:03:30
I still don’t know how we managed to get £140m+ for him. He was a great player to have when the team was winning but he also meant we were playing with 10 men when it was a tough game.
{Ed025's Note - it was the deal of the century WDW, the money you got was invested very wisely on some great players so he probably was one of your most important players ever..in a weird sort of way.. :)
12.) 25 May 2025 11:33:08
Cou was not world class BUT he wasn't a show pony either, IMO.
16 May 2025 21:01:00
Ed01.I believe you said previously that we are looking for a player to play through the middle up top. a No 9 so to speak.2 questions. would Cunha suit that role? . second. If so would you put him there ahead of say Sesko, Osimhen.? Thanks Ed.
{Ed001's Note - it really depends on how Slot wants to play. Cunha is a better player than the other two, and Slot knows how to set up a team to suit the players he has.}
1.) 16 May 2025 22:47:19
Thanks Ed. IMO he would be an excellent acquisition and I'd certainly buy him ahead of anyone else.
2.) 17 May 2025 01:18:44
Might be worth going for Cunha for now as it gives us the option to go in for a proper number 9 in a later window when better options become available and we can move Cunha to LW or 10.
3.) 17 May 2025 08:17:13
I think 2 forwards are a must.
Chiesa, Darwin and Jota to move on.
4.) 17 May 2025 10:46:44
Lookman and Cunha and we win everything next season.

I got married last December. My meaningful advice would be Happy Wife Happy Life. Rock it out Carra and enjoy every second!
{Ed025's Note - my advice would be...never tell the truth, if you are going to golf.. say you are going to see a job thats a good earner but its a long way away, of course you never get the job but she,s made up you tried, if you are going for a bevy its a meeting, if you lose on the horses you have either been pickpocketed or gave it to an old woman who could not afford groceries, you have to be savvy in this world and it stops a lot of grief...argument avoidance if you like.. :)
09 Jul 2025 22:48:05
I like Gordon as an addition to the first squad, I can't really see anything that's an negative imo, perhaps it's just me.
{Ed025's Note - how about him being a diving, cheating little irk SG?..
08 Jul 2025 21:27:58
I'd believe he'd be a good purchase.
08 Jul 2025 17:51:05
Nor I really.

It found it's purpose alright Salah. Great words. Great memories.

There will be some emotion and atmosphere in Anfield when we sing his song next August. He'll be there too and be the inspiration for 21. H'ON THE JOTA!
01 Jul 2025 10:50:35
Very good to know. Thanks Ed01. I'll have another question I'm sure fairly soon.
{Ed001's Note - very welcome. It is why clubs still need good scouts, rather than just relying on stats. It is impossible to provide proper context to the stats without actually watching every match to see the exact position of everyone at every crucial moment.}
30 Jun 2025 18:08:10
I'd like to ask Ed01 a question based on his reply to Liver La regarding Guehi, I've often read your opinions about players, and undoubtedly after doing so, I can only see things that you say about them are correct, be that good or bad.90 percent of the time anyway. my question is this, I see what you say about the Guehi potential signing, I would not know enough about him to comment either way, but LFC would have done their due diligence, so what would prompt them to try sign him? . they surely see what you see and obviously some more, could you explain in any way please why they're positively looking at him to join our first team squad? . Many thanks.
{Ed001's Note - they are looking at stats and he looks good on stats because he is very good in possession. Stats don't show positional sense, they don't provide context either by pointing out the Palace were a very defensive team, which made it easier for defenders to play. They will look at things like his 1 on 1 defensive stats, which will be good but those don't really show a true picture as his 1 on 1s were usually in a position of strength for him. There were rarely times he was truly one on one, there were rarely times that there was no cover or players in position to reduce the options of the man on the ball. The stats will not show that a man running at him had men either side blocking them from being able to take the ball out of reach etc.}
26 Jun 2025 12:27:37
Nor I! . I've always referred to them as that! . even on here I believe! . that's changed my tune! . every day is a learning day. Thanks for posting that!
{Ed001's Note - actually that's a very good point, it was really good of ASB to post that here where more people can see it!}
24 Jun 2025 19:04:23
Ed25 and Bazza what are his flaws in your opinion? . just interested to know.
{Ed025's Note - i dont think hes great in the air SG but that is not because he is smaller than the average CB its about timing the jump, he is also slow to react especially against quicker forwards and although he can read the game his positional sense sometimes lets him down, im not saying he is terrible though in fact hes decent mate...just not top quality for me..
