Hi Ed002,

Quick question about the details of the Mamardashvili transfer if you don't mind, as it's not actually clear from any statement by the clubs what is happening.

Has he joined this summer, and is on loan at Valencia for a year? Or have we agreed that he will join us next summer in a similar way to the Naby Keita transfer?

Thanks.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - He has joined and gone back on loan for a year.}

1.) 28 Aug 2024 09:05:46
Ok thanks very much.

2.) 28 Aug 2024 11:35:58
Ed, does his contract years include next season in which he is being loan to Valencia or its start next season?

{Ed002's Note - It starts now.}

Romano has said the Mamardashvilli rumours are true and we are considering signing him and then sending him on loan. Player keen on it supposedly. Interesting one this.

It is really interesting this one. I'm slightly concerned it means the club think/ know Ali is off next year. I can see Mamardashvili being happy to go on loan for one year with the promise that he'll be the main man next season but not any more than that. He's more established than when Courtois went on loan to Atletico for a couple of seasons from Chelsea.

Concerned because call me an optimist, but I think Ali has at least 3 more years at the top level in him and hopefully more. I know he's getting a a few more injuries than people would like but if that's the price to pay for having a keeper as good as him I'm happy to pay it, especially if we manage to keep Kelleher or get in someone as good as the backup. I do like the idea of succession planning, though!

2.) 09 Aug 2024 16:16:49
Ali, Virg and Salah possibly all leaving at the end of the season.

Would take some replacing that.

3.) 09 Aug 2024 16:17:33
Timerpool2-
If this is the plan I think it’s good work by the club
Yes Ali May have 2 or 3 good seasons in him but the longer he stays/ the more he loses transfer value

It’s the balance between stating “loyal” (didn’t people say Klopp hung on to players too long) and getting a good transfer fee in to reinvest.

4.) 09 Aug 2024 16:33:00
I recall Alison attracting interest from Saudi. Has this interest gone completely for this window do you know edd2? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - No, the budgets have only just been agreed.}

5.) 09 Aug 2024 19:22:06
Ali is the best there is, and should be kept for as long as possible. His injury record has not been great of late, and perhaps he wants a new challenge / sunshine/ loads more cash, and who can blame him.
The georgian looks absolutely top drawer.

6.) 10 Aug 2024 01:57:21
If a player is good enough to be a regular starter then we should keep the player (s), if they want to stay. But I think if you look at the 2025/ 26 season, VVD will be pushing 35 (July 26) and Mo will be pushing 34 (June 26) as will Ali (Oct 26).

I think you can make a case for offering Ali a contract - a fair percentage of GKs tend to last to their mid / late 30’s but I’m not sure about the other two.

Heart wants to keep them - they have been / are the best their position in the world - but head says it’s their time - football is, sadly, mostly a business and not a game anymore.

7.) 10 Aug 2024 07:30:46
Is this more to do with Kelleher supposedly being wanted by Juve? Would make a lot of sense if he is going to have a new understudy to Ali, if we only have Ali for another season?
Seems like a very good bit of business and planning if that’s to be believed.

8.) 10 Aug 2024 11:46:44
The Georgian GK ain't coming sit behind anyone, IMO. He will be essentially Ali's replacement cos there is a rumour that he will be signed and then, loaned out as Ali may leave next summer esp. with Kellerher prolly gone as well. Also, Valencia already have his replacement in place, loer Ed02. Just my take.

Hi Eds,

Another CB rumour that has started going round, is that we're interested in a teenage Turkish defender called Yasin Oscan. Are you aware of any interest?

Many thanks.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Yasin Oscan (CB) Kasimpasa have been offered €2M and Aytug Komec in exchange for Oscan by Besiktas. I am not aware of any Liverpool interest nor how a Work Permit would be obtained. They could possibly try the Exceptions route.}

Brazilian journalists suggesting we've been speaking with Ederson's agent and will look to talk to Atalanta soon.

DK97

1.) 06 Jun 2024 20:45:19
Great to hear we are still doing it the wrong way round then ?.

2.) 06 Jun 2024 21:09:24
I’m Pretty sure you can make contact with players agents it’s the contact with the player directly which is prohibited.

3.) 06 Jun 2024 21:36:58
In what way firmane?

4.) 06 Jun 2024 22:58:23
Surely part of the job of an agent is to hawk their player around to get them either the best contract at their current club or the best deal at another club?

They have to be able to speak to other clubs to do that and do not permission from the current club.

Have Liverpool given Salahs agent permission in the past to sound out interest from other clubs? Of course not.

5.) 07 Jun 2024 01:20:36
Firmane I don't think there is anything wrong w feeling out the player's agent before contacting the club.

6.) 07 Jun 2024 08:01:23
To be fair Red, nobody should be feeling anybody.

7.) 07 Jun 2024 23:24:21
Haha Matt I had that in there and took it out. is that what she said?! . ?.

Hi Ed002,

Many thanks for the responses you've been providing lately (I don't want to spam thanks on every post you respond to of mine but I appreciate it! ) .

You've mentioned we have interest in Koopmeiners from Atalanta, but I'm wondering if we also have any in his midfield partner Ederson? He seems to me to be a better fit for what we're looking for in that he's more defensively orientated.

Cheers Ed.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Beyond what I have said previously the situation with him will become clearer on Monday or Tuesday I think.}

Wouldn't mind going for both Cunha and Delap you know. Combined release clauses of £100m, Cunha would be able to go straight into the team and is a top player, Delap would be great as a different option that we could develop I think over the next couple years into someone really good. Would probably need Jota to move on as well as Darwin unfortunately though which I don't expect to happen.

DK97

1.) 08 Apr 2025 15:51:56
Diaz, Jota and Nunez sales should amount to a fair packet. 170m? Would you buy 1 x Isak or A Cunha, a Delap and a Hugo E?
Id go for the 3, as with the MF 4 we got instead of 1 x Bellingham or 1 x Caicedo.

2.) 08 Apr 2025 16:18:05
We'll be lucky to get 150M for all three. Diaz and Jota are 30-40M players and the Gods will be smiling on us, if we manage to get back our initial investment of 65M from Nunez. It's certainly not a given that any other potential buyer will value "chaos" as much as we seem to. They will probably prefer more goals from a CF, first. ?.

3.) 08 Apr 2025 16:48:31
Doing VERY well to get 150,but if we could i wouldn't mind topping it up and going for Isak and Cunha. Would be options for CF, AM, LW. Know im being a bit football managery but in a perfect world n all.

4.) 08 Apr 2025 19:31:47
I hope we go nowhere near Delap he looks like a Sunday league player.

The classic Liverpool Journos have denied it, Argentinian ones are saying we’re trying something, the plane trackers say a plane has just landed in Porto from Liverpool which was also in Valencia and San Sebastián recently - so who knows!

I assume if Sepp and Joe are both off, we’ll be keeping Nat Phillips hostage for another season? Both leaving are home grown so we’d probably need to keep Nat as 5th choice for that reason.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - They need to decide.}

My crystal ball (and twitter) told me it’s Guehi.

{Ed002's Note - Move on. It is not an ex-Chelsea academy player.}

We’re the only club in league not to sign anyone this summer, the only set of fans that constantly gets told it’s impossible to improve the squad every summer despite us not winning the league or CL in over 4 years. And now the journalists are saying we’re unlikely to sign any other midfielders, when this has been a problem position for 3 years which we’ve constantly failed to address.

I know we need to take what journalists say with a pinch of salt and there’s plenty behind the scenes that we don’t see or don’t know exactly what’s happening, but I think it’s fair for the fans to be pretty annoyed at times like this when it seems we don’t have the same ambition as other clubs around us.

I think he’s bang average tbh MK. If we want that sort of player then Cunha is there for the same price and is twice the player.

Yep, I believe he answered a question from a journalist on this after the Chelsea match, where he said yes he wants to give some players some opportunities, but he also wants to win games. Quite telling I think haha, he doesn’t rate the squad players at all.

Nah. No one should be abusing him but we have a right to be angry and it will rightly change his perception among many fans IMO.

I completely understand the decision on a personal level, there’s financial reasons, a chance to experience a new culture / league, how many people get the opportunity to play for the biggest club in the world etc.

But he’s repeatedly stated his dream is to captain the club, by all accounts he’s been speaking to them for 2 years, there’s suggestions he only signed a 4 year contract last time to have this opportunity at 26 to leave the club easily. He’s then done absolutely nothing to play down all the noise despite claiming he wants it to happen all behind closed doors, while being in constant communication with Madrid and knowing this was the plan. Players like Mac Allister signed a new contract to allow Brighton to get a good fee for him, Trent could easily have done the same but decided to bank the huge sign on fee when we know as a club we rely on player sales to spend money on replacements.

So I think it’s totally justified to be upset with how he’s leaving, and it’s just a fact now he won’t be viewed in the same light of the likes of Gerrard and Carragher. I personally don’t want to see him given any kind of special send off, would rather he was in the background the rest of the season - if you want to leave then off you pop pal, the sooner the better. We’ll see you again in 15 years at a legends game where you’ll get a polite but unenthusiastic reception.
