The rumours resurfacing about us after Inacio again. Any truth in these? A lot better than romero rumour.
1.) 15 Jun 2025 10:53:46
Hope so, solid left footed defender. Young, big and we've been keeping tabs on him for almost 3 seasons now.
2.) 15 Jun 2025 11:08:37
Is he really good enough for us? Hasn't impressed me much when I've watched he'd him and he has always played in a back 3.
I acctually think Romero is a good defender, his injury record isn't though.
3.) 15 Jun 2025 11:49:06
I have never seen Romero play without doing something idiotic. I'd rather give Ibou half a mill a week than go anywhere near Romero.
4.) 15 Jun 2025 12:25:04
I really can’t see us paying that much for a defender who plays in VVDs position.
I expect Virg to be a starter through all of next season so why would a £40m+ defender be happy to warm the bench most of the season before a WC?
More likely to get a RCBif Konate goes.
5.) 15 Jun 2025 12:50:48
Erm! whose advice of Romero would you choose? his fellow World Cup Winner Alexis Mac Allister and current EPL Champion or a random poster's views!
"You cannot be Serious" half a million pounds wages a week for a central defender! when the man next to him is the current Captain of the Club, and on a lot less than half a million a week!
6.) 15 Jun 2025 13:42:22
No. im not serious 007,would have thought that was fairly obvious. Was just trying to get the idea of how much i would be against this transfer across. And as for McAllister, anyone who plays in front of Virgil every 3 or 4 days yet thinks Romero is the best centreback in the world probably isn't the greatest football mind on the planet. I don't care hiw many WC's he's won he is a poor poor player.
7.) 15 Jun 2025 14:31:08
2 red cards and 26 yellows in 100 PL appearances for Spurs. Not as bad as I thought, but still not good.
8.) 15 Jun 2025 15:04:36
I’d love to understand when a player is linked to Liverpool do people look at think:
Does he fit what we do?
Who misses out?
Has he been successful at his current club?
Does he fit the Liverpool profile?
Is this an area we need to strengthen?
Could he upset the dynamic of the side?
Does he fit the “no Di (kheads” policy?
Are there red flags?
Or is it simply a case of “new player = good/ exciting” because Romero is a walking bag of red flags to me.
9.) 15 Jun 2025 15:34:24
I don’t think it matters what fans think. In the grand scheme of things it will have zero effect on what Hughes and Slot choose to do.
10.) 15 Jun 2025 15:49:43
For me you have your solid first teamers, a few fringe players and the rest has to come from your academy.
First teamers have to rotate. Supplemented by finger players.
That’s why you need the likes of Curtis, he’ll be ok as a fringe player as well as getting some starts.
11.) 15 Jun 2025 15:51:18
No, I’m just genuinely intrigued by how people think about these things.
Right now we have the best team in the league and adding a player means a league winner loses games. Who is good enough to take games off league winners.
Frimpong, Kerkez and Maria all replace players leaving/ left. Wirtz is that one off you can’t ignore.
Anyone else is a hard business case.
12.) 15 Jun 2025 16:20:39
? Mariaaaaa you’ve got to see her,
Go insane and out of your mind ?.
13.) 15 Jun 2025 16:52:43
Everywhere at the top level you have a core of 17 first teamers.
Then there is some reliable cover.
Then you have academy players.
It’s the Sith rule of two ideally. A master in the role and an apprentice who wants the role.
Slot has been clear he tends to play his GK, CB and Six as often as possible in the big games (Premier League and CL) the rest of the team (bar Mo) is rotatable. Curt tended to get CL games over Mac this year.
That’s why the 36 man uber squads don’t work. Having too many great players not playing makes a dressing room potentially toxic.
It’s why Endo is a managers dream.
14.) 15 Jun 2025 16:59:47
Inácio is really quick and this unfortunately for a lot of quick players makes them heavily reliant on speed and other aspects of their game falter because speed bails them out.
Pass for me.
15.) 15 Jun 2025 18:16:57
Ron, I can count on one hand how many finger players we have.
If we brought Firmino back would he be Fingerbobs?
16.) 15 Jun 2025 21:04:58
Interestingly Konate has made 82 total prem apps since signing for the 21/ 22 (11,18,22,31 apps) season divided by the total number of prem games in those four seasons gives him 53% prem games over the last four seasons.
Romero has made 100 apps over those four seasons (22,27,33,18 apps) which is 65% prem games over 4 seasons.
The above facts/ figures indicate Romero has a better premier appearances record than Konate, Romero has also scored 7 prem goals to Konates solitary prem league goal.
@Florian Musiala, Alexis has one world cup, and one EPL winners medal and a Carabou winners medal, and i'm not being serious how many do you have? and obviously i'm not preferring Konate/ VVD over Romero! but all LFC posters know someone who does?
17.) 15 Jun 2025 22:34:09
Konate hasn’t always been first choice 007 as we had Matip.
It’s a bit disingenuous to compare the appearances of a player who was bought as a young up and coming CB and has worked his way into the team to an experienced CB who has been first choice since he signed.
Romero is Macca’s mate so he’s going to say he’s amazing. He’s biased. The rest of us who actually look as his ability know that he’s an absolute liability.
18.) 15 Jun 2025 23:18:02
Isn't Van de Ven the better of the 2 Spurs CBs?
If the staff could get his hamstrings to come good for his crazy speed, then I'd take him.
With all that being said, I trust the transfer staff more with the decision than any of us. they haven't got a lot wrong over the last few years.
19.) 15 Jun 2025 23:36:42
Exactly Robbo, Matip and Ibou were competing with each other to play with Virg the 1st coupla seasons and Matip, like Ibou was a far better player than Romero.
20.) 15 Jun 2025 23:49:29
Damn no real mention of ISAK he is the one i want, then Gyokeres. , Follwed by Alvarez, Ohmisen, martinez last.
21.) 16 Jun 2025 01:50:45
Christ, I'm getting old. Took me way too long to figure out who Maria is.
22.) 16 Jun 2025 05:35:32
Van de Ven is a sprinter, not a footballer. He's fast and he sprints a lot but that's mostly because he is way out of position and needs to get back.
Maybe Romero looks poor because he has to cover for such a poor defender next to him. Or it's also possible that the system Ange played put too much pressure on the defence. Not saying that Romero is a great defender though, since I rarely watch Spurs play. Just putting out other possible alternative explanations for his poor plays.
23.) 16 Jun 2025 08:40:54
Romero is a better centre back than Inacio.
I think premier league watching fans over-rate European players over their own sometimes.
If you don’t watch someone closely every week you don’t see then make any mistakes or do-no-wrong.
You just see a reputation as the next best thing, some YouTube highlight reels, and online fan fare that they’re going to be great.
Most posters on here watching Portuguese league football week in week out? Almost definitely not.
09 Jun 2025 19:51:17
Rumour that Darwin has turned down Saudi offer as he wants to stay in europe.
1.) 09 Jun 2025 19:54:28
I have a source who says Milan could come knocking as they look to rebuild. Keep that to yourself.
2.) 09 Jun 2025 20:20:42
Davey does his name rhyme with Shakira?
3.) 09 Jun 2025 20:12:30
Makes sense. Red Bird and all.
4.) 09 Jun 2025 21:08:18
I've heard a rumour that Davey's hips don't lie.
18 May 2025 21:35:37
Have we any interest in Viktor Gyökeres at all? Now he's been made available for around 65 million euros?
1.) 18 May 2025 23:50:36
As our loved Ed002 used to say, please use the search function : ) . He's Likely off to Arsenal on a 5 year deal.
2.) 19 May 2025 03:05:07
He is no better than N in next, not good enough for Liverpool
Cunha to replace Jota and Johnathan David to replace Nunez on a free makes more sense to me.
3.) 19 May 2025 04:19:24
Nunez that should have said.
4.) 19 May 2025 06:00:07
Gyokeres is miles better than Nunez. If Arsenal get him they will be hard to beat next season. I think it’s a no brainer for us to sign him if we could turn his head . Although I still think we’ll get Osimhen instead.
5.) 19 May 2025 07:50:40
He won’t be joining Liverpool.
6.) 19 May 2025 08:20:58
Gyokeres is definitely more prolific than Nunez for sure.
7.) 19 May 2025 08:50:36
@Skezzer, so was my grandma.
8.) 19 May 2025 11:12:38
I don't doubt that for one second WDW haha.
9.) 19 May 2025 11:56:28
These shout of him being no better than Nunez are insane. Also people seem to be forgetting that we don’t need a world beater up front, we just need somebody tidy enough to finish even a 20th of the chances we created because we’re so far above the rest, create so much that even a few goals would turn draws/ losses into wins.
10.) 19 May 2025 22:37:49
Hmmmm, we’ve not done too well with the last prolific striker that we got from the Portuguese league. Let’s leave this guy for Man United.
05 Mar 2025 18:21:40
Eds read a few reports saying we are interested in sesko from leipzig. Any truth or complete rubbish as usual? What's your opinion of him also. Must say he's never really impressed when I've watched him, sooner stick with Darwin in fact.
{Ed001's Note - we have watched him, but so have half of Europe, but not sure of any more than that. I don't know if he is good enough at the link up play to make him a target for us to be honest. Decent enough goalscorer though.}
1.) 06 Mar 2025 22:53:00
Ed001, do you see any possibility in Nunez and Alvarez swap plus cash? Darwin seems the perfect striker for Simeone, while Alvarez would suit Liverpool so well.
{Ed001's Note - no. None.}
15 Jan 2025 16:56:06
Lots of rumours around saying salah is going to be the highest paid player in the world by Saudi, could be BS but could see it happening.
1.) 15 Jan 2025 18:30:16
He will if he goes on free. We end up with Wilfred zaha. Opportunistic signing.
2.) 15 Jan 2025 18:31:31
It is not BS sadly. Obviously the club can't pay those crazy wages, but i still blame them for allowing it to reach this point where he is free to get these offers. So easily avoidable with an earlier deal as he so badly wanted a new fair deal to break more records and win more trophies with Liverpool. Now he can choose between 350k a week or 4 million+ a week. (to be the best paid player he'll have to exceed Ronaldo who's 39 and makes around 3.9 million £ a week)
3.) 15 Jan 2025 19:49:23
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they try and get him to fight Usyk as well.
4.) 15 Jan 2025 20:20:54
And run the Grand National.

Rip Diogo, so tragic.
19 Jun 2025 19:32:57
What do you think of this window overall so far. The best ever being the 77/ 78, 17/ 18 and the 23/ 24 windows for me. I think this window is up there with the best and could well get better still.
1.) 19 Jun 2025 21:23:31
If the window ends in us bringing in marmardashvili frimpong, kerkez, wirtz, guehi and a striker (hopefully one of the higher rated ones) and we move on players that have served us well but will no longer take us forward, then I think this has been the best window I’ve experienced in my life time (32 years) . We would have upgraded in every position from last season.
2.) 19 Jun 2025 21:26:31
You forgetting 1987, Magico?
3.) 19 Jun 2025 22:21:18
23/ 24 we got a new midfield but wasn’t hugely exciting. 1987’s was incredible with Barnes, Beardsley et al leading to us romping to the title.
4.) 19 Jun 2025 22:31:30
Was there such a thing as transfer windows in the 70s?
{Ed001's Note - no. Not in England.}
5.) 19 Jun 2025 23:10:57
Funny that 23/ 24 is considered one of the best now whereas as the time fans were up in arms that we only signed Endo for holding midfield; Szob only joined because of the release clause; and Grav was an over priced Bayern cast off!
Hindsight is wonderful isn’t it!
6.) 19 Jun 2025 23:12:33
1987 was unbeatable.
7.) 19 Jun 2025 23:55:06
Barnes, Beardsley, Aldo and Houghton ?.
8.) 20 Jun 2025 00:32:42
You can’t judge any transfers until after the event surely?
We all said that the signings of Thiago and Keita were really exciting when we signed them but both flopped. We signed the next Alan Shearer in Andy Carroll which was exciting but he was a disaster.
I remember us signing El Hadj Diouf who had an amazing World Cup but he was a disgusting cretin and an awful player.
Karl Heinz Reidle, Jari Litmanen were exciting but were pretty average.
Then there were the signings of Salah, Mane, Robbo, Konate, Matip, Fabinho who weren’t particularly exciting at the time but turned out to be amazing.
There have been many transfer windows where we’ve thought we’ve done great business but it hasn’t worked out that way. This one could be the same.
Hopefully in years to come we can compare this window to 1987 or 2017/ 2018 but at the moment we have no idea.
9.) 20 Jun 2025 12:26:23
@Robbo, your last four words should be the title of the forum.
10.) 21 Jun 2025 14:32:25
Obviously missed 87. Barnes ans beardsley were immense.
21 May 2025 20:27:14
Eds and guys. With Barcelona back in for Diaz allegedly, would you go for nico williams from bilbao? I know we have gakpo to play there also but gakpo could play back up forward also. After hopefully kerkez and wirtz are signed 1st like.
{Ed001's Note - Chiesa is best on the left....}
1.) 21 May 2025 21:12:06
Is there a good chance Barcelona get Diaz Ed?
{Ed001's Note - I think he is going to sign a new deal and stay.}
2.) 21 May 2025 21:39:30
Expect chiesa to be around Ed? Talks of napoli interested. If he stays he needs to play more then, because he's been a worse signing than thiago so far.
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
3.) 21 May 2025 21:50:48
I’ve always got the impression Diaz enjoys his football at Liverpool. Seems to me like it’s his dad driving the Barcelona nonsense.
Never been his biggest fan, but he’s improved under Arne this season. Funnily enough what he lacks, Cody has in abundance. And what Cody lacks, Diaz has bags of it. So it’s a perfect blend down the left in a Way.
05 May 2025 23:18:42
Good luck trent. Thanks for the great memories. You go enjoy yourself over there lad. We'll miss you.
1.) 06 May 2025 01:01:12
I am the only one who could care less that Trent is leaving? In fact I don’t think I’ve ever cared about any player leaving.
I support Liverpool not any particular player and I understand that they will all move on eventually.
I don’t particularly wish him well, nor do I hope he fails. Once he’s no longer wearing the red shirt I’ll concentrate on the ones who are.
I am looking forward to a more conventional, balanced system because it always seems like other players have had to change their games to accommodate Trent which has been very successful. It’ll be good to see a change of emphasis and a different dynamic. I’m looking forward to it.
2.) 06 May 2025 03:32:59
Yeah fair point. Let’s look forward. I guess people are just butt hurt cos they feel jilted.
3.) 06 May 2025 04:14:21
I am with you Robboslostlegs. Tbh, the last player I felt down about leaving us was Alonso since he was my favourite player at that time. But I don't recall caring about any player leaving since then, and that includes Trent. Don't get me wrong though, he has been a great player for us and have contributed massively to our successes in recent years. But if he wants to go, then that's the end of that story for me. The club would move past it, as it has since its formation.
I am looking forward to see how we evolve next though. It may or may not be as successful as what we have been doing but I'd still enjoy the ride regardless.
4.) 06 May 2025 06:44:25
I couldn’t believe Rushie left.
Since then I’ve not let myself get too emotionally invested in the players as a fan. Players are different to fans, it’s a career to them.
5.) 06 May 2025 07:01:57
Same as you Ron I was just devastated when Rush went but just like you I accepted that it's part of football life that players come and go. I my mind Trent is already gone just a pity that we didn't get some sort of fee for him.
6.) 06 May 2025 07:01:57
Same as you Ron I was just devastated when Rush went but just like you I accepted that it's part of football life that players come and go. I my mind Trent is already gone just a pity that we didn't get some sort of fee for him.
05 Mar 2025 17:53:03
What score we going for tonight lads. I'm going 3-2 to us.
{Ed025's Note - 0-2 for me Magico with Slobz scoring the first goal..
1.) 05 Mar 2025 18:43:25
1-1 I think mate with us winning the second leg at Anfield 2-0.
2.) 05 Mar 2025 19:05:50
I think it’s going to be a very tough game tonight hope we win but would be happy with a draw.
3.) 05 Mar 2025 19:10:34
3-1 Salah, Mac, Van Dijk.
4.) 05 Mar 2025 19:11:19
Think we'll nick it tonight, 2-1, then finish the job at Anfield.
5.) 05 Mar 2025 19:22:48
Think the winner of this tie wins the cup to be honest.
6.) 05 Mar 2025 20:53:10
lucky to not be 3-0 down already. hopefully we tie our boots and actually try to play second half.
7.) 05 Mar 2025 18:25:03
Deffo think they'll score ed25 mate.
{Ed025's Note - Liverpool done really well Magico. But if I hear any supporters moaning about a team parking the bus or using the low block. I swear I will scream mate ?
8.) 05 Mar 2025 23:14:19
We did an Everton on them. ?.
{Ed025's Note - no you never FF, we battered you more than PSG did mate.. :)
9.) 06 Mar 2025 07:30:59
To be fair to Ed25, Everton did bust out the handbags at the end of our last match with them and did their best to batter us with them ;-)
{Ed025's Note - we do have you on our mantle piece at the moment Phil, we own Merseyside but im hoping we take it easy on you in the derby mate, we would not want to derail your push for the Premiership title now would we?.. :)
10.) 06 Mar 2025 09:33:18
Ed25, that was a perf. that Jose in his bus-parking pump would be proud of.
{Ed025's Note - it was definitely the right way to go against a very talented PSG team Oli, there is more than one way to skin a cat as they say mate..
14 Jul 2025 12:59:27
Whyowhy are you seriously trying to say you’ve never slagged a player off? …. People/ fans are allowed an opinion and be able to voice it after games you know.
We talk about the football side of players not the other side that we don’t see……if we didn’t have a voice, what’s the point or this glorious site we have here?
03 Jul 2025 07:16:49
Wouldn’t go over 45m myself, however I’d be looking elsewhere in all honesty.
02 Jul 2025 20:02:42
Chelsea probably. We have gakpo and Diaz, no space unfortunately.
01 Jul 2025 13:05:50
All bigging jones up aren’t we? He’s average at best. We know his best position? I guess you mean the bench or treatment table. Best position for him is another club. He’s had time, atleast Harvey wants regular game time and forge a career for himself.
29 Jun 2025 12:40:57
Hope Diaz stays but I’d still bring in forfana if he goes or stays. And Gordon being a Liverpool fan could bring something to us also. Sell Jota/ nunez and let Chiesa go. Use Gakpo as a 2nd striker while resting our main 1.
15 Jul 2025 12:51:16
Yeah good luck Jordan…brilliant captain.
15 Jul 2025 12:50:30
That being said guys, do you believe we’ve already been told how much Isak is available for by Newcastle and agreed terms with the player? Whom some believe wants to join Liverpool, Isak being the best striker out there currently in my opinion…. with ekitike looking like the best alternative.
04 Jul 2025 12:41:44
Brilliance salah well said mate.
Still hasn’t sunk in. RIP Diogo and Andre.
03 Jul 2025 09:33:39
Is this true?
03 Jul 2025 07:20:36
Wasn’t there rumours of alli staying with us as a coach when he finishes? Who better to coach than the best keeper in the world.
