I heard of a rumour linking us to Porto's 22yr old LB in Rafa Soares. He hasn't even played a senior game for Porto only on loan to Rio Ave last season where he scored 3 goals and 7 assists. Is this some BS?

1.) 15 Jun 2017 11:22:32
The search continues.

2.) 15 Jun 2017 12:48:32
He'd be a great buy if we can get him.

3.) 16 Jun 2017 03:04:35
May be Lijnders know him when he is at porto?

EDs is the report that James Milner joining LFC confirmed?

Ugbes

{Ed002's Note - Subject to a medical and the paperwork being processed he will join at the start of July.}

Ed02 many atimes, I marvel at your knowledge with transfers. Are you even human? Lol. These days, I don't wait for the lean anymore, I look to your confirmation. Just want to say Thank you.

Ed01 your football knowledge generally leaves me believing you should be in a different trade. You're so good at it and your match review/ articles are quite simply, a joy to read. What a man! Thank you

Ed033, the bud behind the scene, you do a swell job keeping the best site in football running. Well done

Ed025, you're quite simply special. Though I feel so sorry for you with what is constantly on show for the bucks you guys have thrown into it. Hope you stay up come May 2024.

As for the end to the TW, I strongly trust in Klopp and his team. Whatever solution they can find in the market is good enough for me as in the end, how well they work with the tactics is all that matters. Great start to the season and hopefully, we will be high up there competing by Feb. 2024. So proud to be a part of this family.

Ugbes

{Ed001's Note - thank you on behalf of all the eds, but I have to ask what trade do you think I should be in? If you were thinking male model, I couldn't do that as Ed77 would hate the competition...}

1.) 31 Aug 2023 14:50:24
Apple-polisher ?.

{Ed001's Note - is that a euphemism?}

2.) 31 Aug 2023 16:26:39
What, like ‘bass-fisher’ Ed?

All jokes aside, it’s a good post and thanks to all the Ed’s for all the hard work and a brilliant site.

{Ed001's Note - thank you SG.}

3.) 31 Aug 2023 16:33:34
I'd say Cherry Polisher. Euphemism intended!

4.) 31 Aug 2023 16:47:31
Male model? There goes all the happy thoughts I had all day.

5.) 31 Aug 2023 18:00:00

In my opinion, we are in a familiar situation like some 2yrs ago when we had no defender due to injuries. The fringe players made us proud as they played their part (including Alisson's header) to earn us an European spot. We will get Europe again, no doubt as that is clearly the target now and our rivals (TOT and Chelsea) ain't doing much better at the mo.

As for the midfield, I think not buying a midfielder (whilst that clearly was a mistake esp Bissouma, who went to TOT for a cheap fee) isn't much of the problem as is our blatant change of approach. I recall the loud mouthed Pep saying we have to be unpredictable by evolving at the start of the season. Suddenly, our pressing disappeared. These midfielders can't just become dross over night right? If we are waiting till the summer for the right player, its important we revert to what we are good at.

Klopp must shoulder the critism for giving such power to Pep, if truly he was responsible for the Buvac issue and the new way we play. The man even authored a book . For a start, we need to rip the tactical sheet off, revert to the old ways, cut down Pep's talk time and see what happens till the end of the season when we can find the money to improve the midfield. Personally, I have zero my mind of any hope of a midfielder in this January cos the "money" narrative is rearing its ugly head again. We do however, have enough quality to qualify for the UCL next season at the least in my opinion. Let's hope for the best.

Also, those wishing for Klopp to leave are clearly trolls and should be ignored. If we got a State money owners, I can't think of any other better man to carry us through plus, that will be well deserved for Klopp (after working with arguably hand to mouth budget all his career) to show what he can do against Guardiola. But I must say FSG have done fairly well as I don't share in the thought that they've been dross. We need to cheer up, brace ourselves for the bumpy ride till the end of the season and who knows, Klopp might get us back doing the thing again. So fingers crossed. YNWA.

1.) 13 Jan 2023 15:39:56
Football is all about small margins. Players get past 31/ 32, become fractionally slower every year until they eventually retire. It's not an issue when it's 1 or 2 players, the other lads can cover them and the quality is still there - when its several, it impacts the whole team - especially with the pressing game we play.

For me, I'd like to see us go back to boring Rafa Benitez football until the end of the season. Use the pace of our attackers on the break. Gakpo looks a good link player for counter attacks to, seems to carry the ball well and release the pass at the right time.

2.) 13 Jan 2023 16:30:54
Agree Thom. I think we need to ditch the high line, make the midfield and defence as hard to play through as possible and play a bit of long ball. Salah and Doak on the wings and Gakpo in the middle.

3.) 13 Jan 2023 17:14:06
Doak? That's asking a lot of the lad.

4.) 13 Jan 2023 17:29:11
Remember Rigsby, we big the kids up (Bajcetic, Doak) and then start hammering them when they're called on regularly and aren't suddenly the finished article who can do the job of a seasoned pro at 19 or 20 or 21 (Elliot, Jones) .

5.) 13 Jan 2023 17:30:04
If we win on Saturday we can all praise Klopp.
And if we lose we can all blame Linders.

6.) 13 Jan 2023 18:44:45
Nope, I want the Rafa bus parking stuff well away from Anfield, thank u very much esp after years of brilliant free flowing high paced footie.

That said, there is a happy medium you can get to and play attractive and defensive footie cos after all, we’ve literally been doing that and finishing in the top 2 in both attacking and defensive stats. It’s not an either/ or, imo. All you need is bring back the press abd high tempo running back, play a slightly deeper line and there you are.

14 Aug 2022 16:31:36
Not LIV related but what a game between NF and WH. Good to see our former boys, Awoniyi and Nico doing so well. I didn't think NF had it in them giving their wholesale changes but they managed to weather the storm from WH for the win.

Ugbes

1.) 14 Aug 2022 17:35:21
Great game glad they both got what looks like a decent move if they stay up. I think both have found their levels with clubs for now with a lot of room to improve be interesting to see where they end up if they put the effort in.

2.) 14 Aug 2022 18:29:43
Chelsea and Spurs match was a cracker as well.

Tuchel and Conte setting the standards on the side with what it means to try and win a game. Snowflakes will complain about it but it’s about time we started seeing some real emotion from these multimillionaires be it on the pitch or off it.

3.) 14 Aug 2022 18:57:48
Exactly. Great watcheable game. Too bad it came out as a draw on the sidelines, between Conte and Tuchel (even though Conte got red carded) .

4.) 14 Aug 2022 19:20:33
Great game to watch. I think Conte would take Tuchel if it came to the bit. I also think Conte should've stuck a leg out when Tuchel ran down the line ??.

5.) 14 Aug 2022 19:43:11
“Snowflakes will complain about it“

You appreciate there is a large percentage of alcohol fuelled turds who attend matches that just see this as a green light to act even more like w*****s.

Id like to think middle age men can show passion without needing to get in a half hearted brawl.

6.) 14 Aug 2022 19:48:23
neither of spurs goals should have stood. there were obvious fouls leading up to both.

7.) 14 Aug 2022 20:03:59
Wassa yeah I take it back. The violence from both managers during that brawl was some of the worst I’ve ever seen. The fighting that then broke out in the stands amongst every person that had had a beer was inexcusable. Them bloody turds.

8.) 14 Aug 2022 20:10:32
To be fair JK that’s almost as childish as the squabble at Stanford Bridge.

9.) 14 Aug 2022 20:37:53
Wassa cheers ?.

10.) 14 Aug 2022 20:50:34
Lads,
This squabble was about a decent as
Conte vs Tuchel
(I was up for Conte)

11.) 14 Aug 2022 21:54:38
Wassa are you the aforementioned snowflake that JK prophesided? The stick, you know where, remove it ?.

12.) 15 Aug 2022 08:58:53
It was a good game with lots of passion and desire from both teams and benches, just as a derby should be. The conduct of both managers? Storm in a tea cup really and it was good for the cameras. Now to call those who have the audacity to disagree with this opinion snowflakes? Now, that’s pretty rich indeed.

{Ed025's Note - I agree oli. Good old fashioned blood and guts game and I don’t have a problem with any of that mate..

13.) 15 Aug 2022 09:07:25
I’m just happy to see that Tuchel and Conte are embracing that fine British tradition of “a pint and a fight make a great British night”.

{Ed025's Note - yeah it’s great 6 times..

14.) 15 Aug 2022 09:58:46
Oli as per usual just making stuff up to try and suit another argument ??‍♂️.

Where have I mentioned the word “disagree”. Perhaps watching 50 hours of football a day is tiring you out.

15.) 15 Aug 2022 13:42:45
Using semantics to deflect, JK23? So unlike you. You literally labelled those that would complain about the touchline bustup as snowflakes. You did that. Not me. Own what you say and stop deflecting, Einstein.

Oh and to your last point, was that an attempt at sarcasm? If that’s what it was then like I’ve told you before, comedy and sarcasm are not your strengths. Never have. Never will be.

16.) 15 Aug 2022 14:24:58
Oli your ability to make yourself look a bit of a tool is 2nd to none fair play.

15 Jul 2022 16:58:08
Hi lads, I haven't had the opportunity of viewing our pee season so far but I have seen rival fans making constant jest of Darwin Nunez. I have been maintaining that you can't judge a player by pre season cameos. But are the signs that bad?

Ugbes

{Ed077's Note - what's a "pee" season?;-D

1.) 15 Jul 2022 17:26:23
He'll be fine, I worry about the spotlight on him and every 'mistake' being pulled up but i guess it was always expected.
Please let's just be patient, He'll a very good player and he'll be fine!

2.) 15 Jul 2022 17:48:58
He won’t be paying attention to his social media anyway. Didn’t see him yet but I’m not at all worried. It’s preseason. Nobody cares. It’s about getting for and sharp. He’ll be given plenty opportunities in this team and the goals will come. Sooner the better.

3.) 15 Jul 2022 18:15:58
He's going to be just fine. Big fish that went from a small pond to a bigger pond. Takes time to adjust. That's all it is. He has the skills. Klopp and staff will do the rest.

4.) 15 Jul 2022 18:43:17
He’s very raw just my opinion when I watched him!

5.) 15 Jul 2022 19:01:52
Watching the match. It looks like he is just eager to impress plus it’s preseason. I have no worries come start of the season that he won’t be firing on all cylinders.

6.) 15 Jul 2022 17:43:19
Pee season is when your team are p. poor. You should recognise that, 077 :-P.

{Ed077's Note - I guess you guys would be even more well versed on that front with 3 decades worth of experience ?

7.) 15 Jul 2022 19:21:48
He will score 20+ this season.

8.) 15 Jul 2022 23:32:35
Pee season is a rubbishty season that everybody expected a team to have, now poo season is a whole different thing, closest thing to a poo season is what united serves up on an yearly basis!

Darwin is quick strong and all in all the man of ed0025’s wet dreams, I would be highly surprised if he wasn’t a solid investment.

9.) 15 Jul 2022 23:56:13
We made 21 substitutions n. 90 minutes of football.

It’s about re-building fitness and conditioning.

The club already know what the players are capable of and what they need to improve and what they want to players to do to be ready for that start of the season.

That’s the point - from a playing perspective - of pre-season.

We have trained for a week, played 30 players in a nothing match and lost.

We trained for another half week, played 30 players in a nothing match and won.

Best result the squads fitness and sharpness is starting to return but it’s a work in progress. Everything else is just people reading too much / over thinking a match or two op with the result being of no consequence. Just saying ….

10.) 16 Jul 2022 00:01:11
Don’t drink and post kiddos your rubbish comes out rubbrubbishy.

11.) 16 Jul 2022 01:44:13
I'd be more worried if he looked lost, unfit, bad touch etc. But he is getting himself in positions to score, links up ok so far. just looks like a new player that needs more time to bed in.

12.) 15 Jul 2022 19:57:36
I see all that practice on the ManU page is serving you well, Ed0777. ?.

{Ed077's Note - we gaining on you guys now:-D

13.) 15 Jul 2022 19:58:57
Don't worry Ed077, you chaps are fast catching up on the experience stakes.!

{Ed077's Note - fast approaching a decade worth of callbacks Zedd.

14.) 16 Jul 2022 07:25:52
Ivan de la Pena is available.

30 Dec 2021 08:00:40
I think it high time we ignored the log (at least till the end of January), avoid permutations and concentrate on ourselves alone. We need to focus on winning our games and see where that takes us to at the end of the season. If it isn't enough, its not the end of the world but at least, we are competing for the top.

A few years ago, all we thought about was to finish in the UCL places and now, he (Klopp) have got us dreaming. Just how lucky are we to be in this position now? I have many Mancs and I know. One thing I'm sure of is that Klopp will deliver no.20 before he leaves. Would it be this season? Not sure but maybe. But I will free myself of the burden of permutations and enjoy the rest of the season. I only hope we win something this season though. Upwards and onwards💪🏼.

Ugbes

1.) 30 Dec 2021 08:38:33
Klopp would leave us in two years time with an utter aging squad. We have hardly dominated the world in his regime. We stood still when city and Chelsea splashed money. That’s why we are not only fighting for the top and not finishing.

2.) 30 Dec 2021 09:36:38
So Keita which oil or state billionaires was this money coming from?

The only reason we have won both the league and CL in recent years is because of Klopp.

Without new owners you will see what happens if and when Klopp leaves.

3.) 30 Dec 2021 10:20:36
We haven't dominated the world but we've been English, European and World Champions under FSG and Klopp.
My stein is half full. Danke, Jürgen Norbert Klopp.

4.) 30 Dec 2021 10:26:41
Is keitas shinpad Harry? Sounds like his brand of positivity lol.

5.) 30 Dec 2021 10:34:43
Correct Rigsby. Keitas Shinpads post is just full of nonsense to be honest.

6.) 30 Dec 2021 10:58:59
We are bottom the pile when it’s comes to spending! I don’t think fsg are bad owners and have done well but time to open the coffers! We brought in one defender (only because we had 3 and which 2 very injury prone)!
I’m not asking for £80m signings but bring in some bodies for competition sell what we can and freshen it up! Just my opinion!
We where not good enough to win it last season why would we be good enough this season when we didn’t invest and others did?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to fund purchases and not keep building debt. The way to do that is through income from broadcast (which is doing fine), commercial (doing very well), matchday revenue (pretty much none for last season) and player sales (poor). If the money is not there then it will be difficult - this is the immediate impact of the pandemic.}

7.) 30 Dec 2021 12:12:10
Disgrace klopp hasn't been backed more in transfer market considering what he's done since he came in. I understand from ed2s insight into finances it not as simple as we think but surly we should be able to compete financially with clubs not in Europe.

{Ed002's Note - The club cannot simply keep adding players. Money needs to be raised.}

8.) 30 Dec 2021 12:50:09
Hi Ed002, could you give us your opinion on what the club needs to do this summer with the playing staff from a long term perspective?
Money definitely needs to be raised from sales. Phillips, Neco, one of Bobby/ Mane, Minamino, Davies, Ojo and few other loaned out players need to be moved on. Thankfully Karius and Adrian are out of contract and Milner probably will retire so we save quite a bit of wages as well.

{Ed002's Note - There needs to be a plan put in place to transition to a younger side over the next two to three years. That is key to going forward for Liverpool. The club has four players out of contract in the summer (Origi, Milner, Adrian and Karius) so something needs to be decided there. Another five will be entering the last year of their contract in the summer (Keita, Mane, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Firmino) so significant decisions maust soon be made. Eight players will be 30 or more in the summer - again that needs addressing. Thirteen players are out on loan - how many of those may make it? I think the minimum for the summer will be a GK, CM and a forward. Critical to all of this is a plan for the transition before Klopp departs in 2024.}

9.) 30 Dec 2021 13:30:18
Spot on, Rigsby. I’m good with what Klopp, the players and the owners have achieved forum esp dethroning a club that is funded as part of a sovereign nation’s budget to win the league in a stroll and winning the CL trophy while said club is still trying to get a shot on target in their ONLY final that cost them almost 2 billion to reach. Of course we can always do better BUT you can’t win them all.

As for Keita Pads or Harry in disguise instead of posting negativity all the time, you could just provide us a list of Oligarch owners or sovereign countries/ governments who are interested in buying us off FSG’s hands instead of rambling on and on about the sale emotional stuff and not providing actual solutions.

10.) 30 Dec 2021 13:16:10
Thanks for that 002, I trust there is a someone in the LFC hierarchy with your knowledge and insight who has been frantically drafting such a plan :)

{Ed002's Note - It needs money of course.}

11.) 30 Dec 2021 14:30:29
So we clearly need money from player sales, question is, who do we sell? The average ones we seem to value more than what they're worth which results in them doing bugger all for another season.

I'm very happy with the position we're currently in but at the same time I'm growing increasingly concerned about the future. We're living for the day instead of planning for the future but that's just my opinion. IF this is true, we have a very rough patch ahead.

12.) 30 Dec 2021 15:00:47
Sell some of the fringe players to moneybags Newcastle this January.
The Ox, Phillips, Gomez and Keita should fetch a pretty penny from a team so rich and desperate. Then splash the cash on Bellingham and Haaland 💪🏼
Joking by the way, but wouldn’t mind selling them 4 off to Newcastle for inflated prices.

13.) 30 Dec 2021 15:33:04
The Americans owns Manchester United Oli and there is no shortage of money over there. You need to come away from this embarrassing excuses.

14.) 30 Dec 2021 14:10:06
I understand 002 :) To shop for immediate impact players yes but I'm sure there are a few more gems like Robbo to be found.
Regardless of what's in the pot the plan needs to be actioned accordingly.

15.) 30 Dec 2021 16:55:59
What have United won lately KS? Could you give me a list of the quality players they have signed? After all there is no shortage of more at United!

16.) 30 Dec 2021 17:14:24
You're right, Keitas shinpad, the Glazers' infamous generosity in pumping United full of money is why they're so popular with the fans.

17.) 30 Dec 2021 17:55:58
I wish fsg would put half of what the glaziers have put into the utd team. imagine what klopp could do with that.

18.) 30 Dec 2021 18:16:58
Hey Irish. My reply was there are clubs who has money and not owned by the Arabs or Russian. They could still turn it around as they have money while we are playing 92 year old Milner.

19.) 30 Dec 2021 18:18:28
Zpecial,

FSG are popular for furloughing the staffs. Ain’t they?

20.) 30 Dec 2021 18:21:14
KS, what excuses? I spoke facts, man. The Glazers? Would that very same owners that the Utd fans literally hate and fir which they damaged their stadium in protest? Now I know you are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for reasons to slander the club cos they are not doing what you want. And I’m the one with embarrassing excuses? You are a true gem.

You seem to love the other clubs way more than you claim to be an LFC fan so if you want us to spend the way Utd spend for the huge success they have clearly had by accounts, lol. Again, answer the question. Who are the oligarchs or sovereign states are you proposing to take us over instead posting nonsensical slander based on your mood swings? I’ll wait.

21.) 30 Dec 2021 19:03:30
You change your mind like the weather Olired. You were hammering posters at the start of the season when we said we need to buy a midfielder/ attacker. Now your blaming our players lack of form on City being owned by a Country.

The only facts are we are 9 points behind and the only reason is we have been below par in the league. Too many of our players have had too many poor games.

22.) 30 Dec 2021 20:06:58
To be fair Utds supporters stormed Old Trafford after the super league debacle. Our owners were at the forefront of that also. Utds owners have thrown money at their problems and it’s been spent stupidly. Let’s be honest we would love Klopp to have had that same money as we know it wouldn’t have been wasted. But we have no money available so Klopp has to work with what he has.

{Ed0666's Note - Not sure Klopp is the greatest scout in the world. His attributes are management and coaching.

23.) 30 Dec 2021 20:26:00
The rate KS is going at he'll be at the "FSG out" stage before the transfer window even opens!
This is the best spell the club has had in a long time, trophies, great football, matches that have gone down in history, youngsters coming through again.
And through it all some doggedly seek out any negativity they can find and cling to it desperately.
It's like the Premiersip title and all the rest just didn't happen for some.

24.) 30 Dec 2021 20:58:51
Truth is somewhere in between. When you are on top you must strengthen and we didn’t. This season we just haven’t been good enough but there is time to turn it around. We have to put a winning run together, it’s now or never for this season.

25.) 31 Dec 2021 03:00:35
Yeeeeeeee hah, and we are off.

I like the idea that we haven’t dominated ( which is wrong) and that we haven’t dominated because we didn’t spend heaps and heaps of money (which is also wrong) and that we would win everything going if we spent loads of money (which is also obviously not true - look at United abs Chelski and the Spuds) .

Other than that you were slap, dab, right on the money @KS.

Where’s the popcorn, transfer window time is here 👍👍👍.

26.) 31 Dec 2021 10:10:00
WDW except Citg and Chelsea prove that theory core t mate. Chelsea are current CL holders and both clubs have won 10 of the premier league titles in the last 15 years (5 a piece) spending money.
Utd, Spurs, Everton etc just show that spending money recklessly doesn’t help.

To use us as an example we spent big on Vvd, Allison and Fab and the trophies started. We spent recklessly on Naby and he’s been a major let down. The signings don’t always work but you have to buy a ticket to win the lottery and the fact we have no money means we can’t buy a ticket.

Peraonally, I think we have whinned enough on the matter. The world can see we were robbed broad day light but its becoming embarrassing now guys. We are not the first to be done by poor officiating from the upwards of last season as sample period. The whinning have overshadowed how excellent we were on the night and how much we should be proud of our lads.

In my opinion, I think the club and fans are taking this a little too far. The incompetence is staggering and borders corruption. I'm a Nigerian and over here, the ref would be beaten to hospital admission level. Something that disgusts me a lot esp Kano Pillars as in, the ref won't go home! But I expected things done better in a league like england and I cannot say I'm not disappointed and I'm sure I'm not alone. However, its time to suck it up and move on. We need to show the world just how strong we are against BHA and I'm sure that's Klopp attention right now.

I have seen a lot of post on social media and this site of "agendas against LIV" this for me is far from true in my opinion, not that it disappoints less but nohig is coming out of these frustration ? and this is not me judging those who can't get past it but encouraging that we do for the boys. Its clear they aren't happy as per Maccas post that the FA is insensitive enough to consider a query into. We need to show them support that they did well and we trust them for the rest of the season to bring us joy. We just got to suck it up and move on as nothing will change. The media is already turning on us as are rival fans. Let's move on lads and hopefully they will learn a thing or two from the stir our stolen show have caused.

{Ed001's Note - it is this kind of thinking which allows things to just go unchecked. Sorry but it is not whining to expect changes to be made and action taken. We fight for what is right in Liverpool and the club represents us. If you can't get behind that, then you really do not understand the club you support.}

For me, I think they might be on same level or a close call. Jude plays much closer to goal as affirmed by Ancelotti himself compared to Dom. That must be responsible for the goal returns. Anyways, who cares who is better? I just know I don't feel the disappointment I felt for losing out on Jude anymore because of Dom. O and Jude took to twitter/ X to hail Dom's goal last night with a rocket emoji. I love Dom as he's clearly the best midfielder Klopp have signed since he arrived here.
