We need a new cb. Lovren now has injury issues and Matip is not the long term solution. Why not go in big for de ligt that would give us the option of a back three ie Gomez Del ligt Vvd with trent and Robbo as wing backs. It seems senseless to wait just 4 months when we know we will need to buy for next season. Btw De ligt would be my choice but if we can't get him someone of that quality. It also gives the likes of Hoever time to learn. He will only be 21 in 5 years.

{Ed002's Note - De Ligt will not be moving to Liverpool and I doubt they have the money available to buy him.}

1.) 12 Jan 2019 19:41:47
This defence is the best defence in the premier league for years and years for any team and you think we need to make changes?

2.) 12 Jan 2019 20:05:12
We’ve got 1 first team RB and today had 1 fully fit CB Mikey. Gomez and Matip are both yet to go a season uninjured for LFC and Lovren is a liability.

Yes we are keeping lots of clean sheets, but we very clearly need some new blood too.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 20:07:41
We already have a world class defender in Van Dijk and a potential world class defender in Gomez, why would we spend a fortune on a player to sit on the bench?

4.) 12 Jan 2019 20:10:12
1) We don't play a back 3

2) When Gomez is fit, he has to play. As does VVD (obviously)

3) De Ligt won't sign for anyone to sit on the bench

4) I don't see what the commotion is about De Ligt. He's looked rather ordinary when I've seen him. But I have to admit, he can't be a full international and Ajax captain at 19 without merit. I just haven't witnessed it myself.

5) See 1, 2 and 3.

5.) 12 Jan 2019 20:18:23
We have money if needs be and we have players who can be sold so I would not worry about money if klopp needs it I think he will get backed no matter what van dijk and Allison prove that.

6.) 12 Jan 2019 20:29:30
I think he more means about how injury prone the other 3,are bar vvd! It’s frustrating how soft and fragile they are I have to agree although play gomez with vvd when fit.

7.) 12 Jan 2019 20:34:58
Totally Jay.

8.) 12 Jan 2019 22:14:40
We have the best 2 center backs in the prem in VVD and Gomez why go out and get another, the back ups are Ok in Matip and Lovren, don't panic.

All will be good in a few weeks.

9.) 12 Jan 2019 23:33:03
So, buy like 100 CBs in case they all get injured?

10.) 12 Jan 2019 23:37:32
Play a back 3 when we have about 75% possession in most games? God give me strength, good night and well done for getting the tough 3 points on offer today.

11.) 12 Jan 2019 23:55:58
We need a backup which will remain fit but it isn’t going to be a top cb like de legit.

Hopefully some of the younger players can make that step up next year. Maybe Phillips or Hoever. Maybe both.

12.) 13 Jan 2019 01:54:42
Haha man can some of ya hear yourselves!? So basically we need someone who is good enough, fit enough, has wolverine powers of recovery and will be happy sitting on the bench.

13.) 13 Jan 2019 02:36:27
Who's to say if we were to buy another CB that he'd be fit all season anyway? All teams have certain areas of the pitch that have injuries to more than 1 player at a time. It happens. None of them are long term and the only times we have moved to a back 3 with klopp is in the dying stages of games to try and hang on to a win. Gomez's broken leg was an unlucky impact injury and not muscular, vvd hasn't made it through a full season with us yet either (touch wood he does) . We are not city who can buy world class players to sit on the bench and find a convoluted way of offsetting it to escape ffp. And we have the best defense in the league and still had a clean sheet with a midfielder playing there. We are in good shape.

14.) 13 Jan 2019 03:11:29
Gomez, lovren and matip both have injury concerns. We only have one fit and top cb.

15.) 13 Jan 2019 08:19:20
Van Dijk isn’t bullet proof like some are making out, his injury record at Saints wasn’t great.

16.) 13 Jan 2019 13:31:05
Angus - these are the challenges of a season. An injury crisis would have been juat one fit CB for the rest of the season. Then ok, maybe u look at a solution then.

17.) 13 Jan 2019 14:18:59
Personally, I think we should take a punt on Lloyd Kelly, he’s a really good English prospect and can play left back or centre back very comfortably. He is very rarely found wanting and dominates players much older than himself.

18.) 14 Jan 2019 06:26:54
I agree FMS. I'd put a bid in for Lloyd Kelly. If we get him then ship out Moreno since he has "many offers" and apparently wants to leave for more football, which is fair.

Kelly has this VVD calmness/ cool domeanor to him and is very skillful. Could almost fill in as a winger in an old school 4-4-2. Not that we'd need but he looks like a very versatile and mature young player. I'd take him for the right price!

Probably a question for ed1. Warlock has always waxed lyrical about clyne since his days at palace and there are whispers that Cardiff would be looking to take him in the January TW. How would they fund that type of transfer?

{Ed001's Note - they have a decent amount of money and Clyne would not be that expensive as we could do with getting his wages off the books.}

1.) 21 Nov 2018 19:10:12
Thanks Ed1 Do you think it will happen?

{Ed001's Note - I certainly expect him to leave and his options are limited, so it seems the most likely move for him right now.}

2.) 22 Nov 2018 09:25:03
Thought Leicester were also interested in Clyne right? And i hope we get a sale than another loan for every Tom, Dick and Harry in our squad that has no future at the club. Hopefully a BPL side with a 12-15 million pound bid comes in and takes Clyne off our hands.

3.) 22 Nov 2018 13:24:08
He's hardly played for about a year and a half, if we're hoping to get any money for him, it won't be much. The saving is in his wages, and giving him a chance to continue his career.

31 Dec 2017 16:49:44
L G has signed for B M.

{Ed025's Note - OK

1.) 31 Dec 2017 17:06:56
Has he.

2.) 01 Jan 2018 11:43:35
He as only just done a solo tour.

20 Jul 2017 22:07:17
Eds any truth in sacko going to stoke?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine please.}

1.) 20 Jul 2017 22:18:06
Fair comment.

2.) 22 Jul 2017 12:47:00
And if the search engine doesn't work, try searching for Sakho instead xD
Makes me mad to see 'fans' still get our players names wrong 😒.

01 Jun 2017 21:17:10
The saga with RS from Fulham I'm totally ok with if he decided to choose spurs instead of us then good luck to him anything else? s need to be asked!

1.) 01 Jun 2017 21:24:46
We only offered him the chance of under 23 football next season and some cup runs, Spurs have told him he will be competing for a first team spot.

2.) 01 Jun 2017 21:41:01
That the real macca? Glad your back if this is the real macca!

3.) 01 Jun 2017 21:43:32
Welcome back macca.

4.) 01 Jun 2017 21:43:34
The big man is back is it true ed?

{Ed025's Note - seems that way belfast..

5.) 01 Jun 2017 21:45:28
so yet again we screwed up .

6.) 01 Jun 2017 21:46:51
Any word on clynes future macca and the right back position.? Lacking serious quaility in both wing back positions. Robertson will just add to the problems.

7.) 01 Jun 2017 21:47:41
Also 17 year old lad either staying in London or uprooting, you know it makes sense for him to stay.

8.) 01 Jun 2017 21:48:31
Yep that's the real Macca.

9.) 01 Jun 2017 21:48:32

So good to see you posting again mate.

Anything you can add to the transfer news?

All the best.

10.) 01 Jun 2017 22:15:31
Thanks for your reply Macca hope your keeping well and business is good.

11.) 02 Jun 2017 09:38:54
Finally, Liverpool actually tell a player their plan honestly. Good news for the future, better players join us knowing where they stand and are happy and comfortable with it then lying to everyone about being our first choice superstars and having them moaning on the bench all season.

10 Aug 2022 20:49:58
Well done Brentford probably the signing of this window.

1.) 10 Aug 2022 21:16:47
Time will tell. There’s a reason he’s signed for Brentford for a small fee rather than a top 4 team for 50M+. Obviously a gamble, no idea why, but I’m not a premier league scout. If I was I’d be out there doing that rather than posting on here. Good luck to the lad, hope he does well (preferably against City rather than us though) .

2.) 10 Aug 2022 21:20:33
I’ve got to confess that I think the signing of the window was made by us, picking up Carvalho for £7.7m.

Call me biased, but let’s see what standard Fabio is at in a year or two….

3.) 11 Aug 2022 07:18:48
Reminds me of coutinho when he first arrived at Liverpool, the guy just grew and grew with us, hopefully the same outcome with carvalho.

4.) 11 Aug 2022 09:30:01
OP, who did Brentford sign?

03 Aug 2022 20:34:10
Not Liverpool related but got to be one of the strangest transfers ever with scmicheal to Nice. Up there with Mario to us. What's your strangest transfer.

1.) 03 Aug 2022 21:33:05
For me it’s our new midfield signing this window. We seem to be taking bloody ages to announce it ?.

2.) 03 Aug 2022 22:18:59
I was talking to my friends about this earlier. I don't know who it makes sense for, 1m for Leicester who had a keeper at the top of his game for the next few years and with no replacement, and Kasper who has downgraded massively, Nice don't really challenge Ligue 1 and I doubt they’d pay him more? It’s very bizarre. Only Nice win here imho ?.

3.) 03 Aug 2022 22:34:12
Jk I don't know why people want another mid, we signed one, the man the myth the legend that is Jay Spearing!

4.) 03 Aug 2022 22:34:42

Why is the Schmeichel transfer odd? He’s 35, past his best, not quite top notch and I suspect will be a bit of a marquees signing for them and will be on a reasonable contract. Also he’s going to be living in a good spot. After all Nice is ……. nice (sorry, another visit to the naughty step for me)

5.) 03 Aug 2022 22:53:03
Hmm where would I rather play in the last few years of my football career Nice or Leicester tough choice….

6.) 03 Aug 2022 22:55:24
Hit send to early I’d think I’d pick Nice to retire at. not even a contest near the alps beautiful part of the country weather is great.

7.) 03 Aug 2022 23:28:17
Funny how both of those transfers involve Mr Rodgers.

8.) 03 Aug 2022 23:54:03
On the plus side, we'll finally discover if Danny Ward is any good.

9.) 04 Aug 2022 00:46:26
Kelleher loan maybe? Yeah- I don’t know why I posted this either.

10.) 04 Aug 2022 12:27:18
Have Salah check and edit your posts before you post, maybe? ?.

11.) 04 Aug 2022 12:33:12
Nice must have a few €'s knocking about considering they also signed Aaron Ramsey.

{Ed001's Note - and just paid about 12m for a defender as well on the same day.}

12.) 04 Aug 2022 16:57:45
Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Nice isn’t it?

07 Jul 2022 19:49:54
Question for fellow posters, if we were guaranteed to sign J B next year as long as we made no more signings this window who would go for that ?

1.) 07 Jul 2022 20:12:40
No. Jobe this summer in preparation for Jude next summer sounds better. Another HG youngster who may be CT unsure. Stranger things have happened.

2.) 07 Jul 2022 20:18:22

3.) 07 Jul 2022 20:27:56
Yes from me, dependent upon the U23s developing as we want.

4.) 07 Jul 2022 22:41:49
Problem is Thiago and Hendo will be a year older. If Jude is the answer that many believe him to be I want him coming in whilst Hendo and especially Thiago are still performing to their current levels.

28 Jun 2022 19:52:24
Before it was all over social media did anyone call the Ramsey and Darwin signings?

{Ed0666's Note - I think Ed’s 002 called the Ramsey transfer ages ago.

1.) 28 Jun 2022 20:49:28
Judge Dredd did indeed call it Ed0666.

2.) 29 Jun 2022 05:10:50
Leave out Ed002 in this race Ed0666.
No more adults in child's race.

3.) 29 Jun 2022 10:26:37
I had a feeling about Nunez ever since klopp called him good looking.

4.) 29 Jun 2022 05:10:50
Leave out Ed002 in this race Ed0666.
No more adults in child's race.

18 Apr 2022 19:43:07
If we had a choice and not both would you choose premier league title or winning the champions league. Personally I take the premier league.

1.) 18 Apr 2022 20:18:11
Still both.
I'm greedy though.

2.) 18 Apr 2022 20:28:17
Not sure why… it would normally be the League but for some reason this season it would be the Champions League… the both next season…. And the season after.

3.) 18 Apr 2022 21:07:25
All 4, every single season. And the Club Champions Cup too, if the boys are not too tired.

4.) 18 Apr 2022 22:17:40
How about this:
City can still win the double (league and champs league)
We can still win all 4 but for this arguments sake let’s say we are out the race for the prem and on course for a treble.

So question is: would you prefer citys double, or our treble?

Got to be the big double for me, even though a treble is cool, I want us to be winning leagues.

5.) 18 Apr 2022 22:22:27
Psychologically speaking I’d like us to beat City in the CL final. It’s the one they really, really want and it would certainly mess with their heads for next season.

I’d love us to win the League though - would be another of our great comebacks being fourteen points behind and everybody (outside of the club and fans) saying it was a cakewalk for City.

6.) 19 Apr 2022 06:29:04
Keep it real I’d take any cup we get!

7.) 19 Apr 2022 06:48:56
For city to be anywhere near the greatest team that ever lived, according to the media that is, they need to win both by beating us to both. If we beat them to both, will we be lauded as the greatest team ever?

However, let’s not forget there’s a semi final to win first for both teams.

8.) 19 Apr 2022 08:26:19
You can’t make me choose between my kids.

9.) 19 Apr 2022 08:51:52
If I can have Liverpool for the PL and Villarreal for the CL, I'd take the PL. To go with the League and FA Cups.

10.) 19 Apr 2022 10:19:45
Take whatever comes our way.

11.) 19 Apr 2022 05:18:09
Psychologically speaking, I cannot, for the life of me, understand why all of you are against winning all 4-5 competitions.

Beat Tuchel first for the FA Cup. Maybe he'll go away. Then beat Pep in both the League and the UCL Final, and he'll definitely go away (or chased away) . And then we sit nice and cosy on our perch for the next decade.

(Love this site. It let's my whimsical and wishful thinking roam free) .

12.) 19 Apr 2022 12:56:41
Can you imagine it on here next season if we win all 4 competitions?

Lose a couple of games and it’ll be the end of the world. Get rid of this, that and the other would just be the start of it …. 😉

I’d love us to do the quadruple but it would definitely be a very hard act to follow.

Not sure if you were joking JK23 but De Jong would be the perfect signing for us. Carries the ball from the back which we are truly lacking but probably over our budget even if we could find buyers for the ox and Naby.
