Good evening Ed02,
Inter's Alessandro Bastoni has come up in various places connecting him to Liverpool.
I haven't found much on this site's search archive about him, nor in the Italian media and he seems to be tied up nicely with Inter until 2028 having renewed only last year.
Anything to it?
{Ed002's Note - No.}
1.) 28 Aug 2024 17:29:18
thanks, obviously dredging the barrel.
2.) 28 Aug 2024 19:45:19
I would've loved us to have signed Alexandra Bastedo. One for the older posters.
{Ed002's Note - The Proector.}
20 Jun 2023 19:38:19
Ed02, if I may. Back on May 31 you shared your list of defensive possibilities stating that Gvardiol wasn't going to happen (with other clubs circling him) even though he was Liverpool's preferred choice.
Just out of interest sake, is/ was the reason because of price (other clubs causing an unrealistic auction scenario) or for other unmentioned reasons?
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have moved on. Others offer either a significant fee this summer and one has discussed a lower fee and taking him next summer.}
1.) 21 Jun 2023 08:32:25
Off to ManCity.
2.) 21 Jun 2023 09:22:59
Is this a case of being able to buy 2 for the price of 1/ the search for value in an overinflated market Eds?
The question is, Is Gvardiol twice as good as VDV2 or Colwill, whom we could probably both buy for the same price as Gvardiol.
I like the idea of buying Colwill, although I doubt CFC would entertain .
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not one of the clubs who have approached Chelsea about Colwill.}
3.) 21 Jun 2023 10:47:07
Colwill looks a real talent. Apparently Brighton bid £40m but we're told he isn't for sale.

Big shout out to Arne's Barber's Horse's Mouth. Absolutely bossed the transfer rumour window, at ED02 levels. I repost his post below, in awe.
05 Aug 2024 12:30:52
". Expect Liverpool to smash their record fee for a player at the end of the transfer window for Frankie de jong with Luiz Diaz going the other way, not necessarily the same transfer, expect this to drag out until the end of the window as there are wage issues
Anthony Gordon will sign and will probably be done before that deal I'd expect around the middle of August
A centre back will not be signed as vdb and carvalho are set to be given a chance to impress this season, Clark and Morton will be sold with buy back clauses
Straight from the horses mouth. "
As you can see absolutely nailed the Bobby Clark call. A big thumbs up in his honour. It's great to be among the ITKs. Respect.
(Maybe a short course in animal husbandry to better ID the ends of a horse? just thinking out loud) .
Thank-you - again - Ed02 for your patience and wisdom. Until next time.

????????.
2.) 31 Aug 2024 06:51:19
Delvecs, come on man. That’s some foul stuff, lol.
01 Aug 2024 19:45:13
Would love to get people's thoughts.
Who subscribes to the theory that, since we finished third with a whimper we need to but 2-3 1st XI players to realistically compete for the title?
Who subscribes to the theory that we finished third with a whimper because we need.
1.) 01 Aug 2024 20:05:24
My thought is that I’ve got no idea what you’re asking.
2.) 01 Aug 2024 20:10:37
Possible Translation : The wife’s busted you subscribing to onlyfans, and now you’re whimpering?
3.) 01 Aug 2024 20:26:13
Thats right or we could play the nutmeg off of the sock.
4.) 01 Aug 2024 20:31:05
I think many clubs are 2-3 first XI signings away from challenging delvecs. We've already got a great squad and were probably punching above our weight for the first part of the season imo. At the start of last season, most would have taken 3rd, especially with the drop off from Salah.
5.) 01 Aug 2024 22:26:06
Generally speaking, I rekon the better approach to transfers is about targeting the areas in the squad that need to be improved. then that would determine how many players you may need to recruit.
I don't think an arbitrary 2-3 signings per window is what makes the difference from one season to the next.
The other thing about it is that we actually have a full squad. we can debate the quality in certain areas for sure. But, when we say we need to bring in 2-3 players, in our context the other side of that conversation is about moving players on or finding loan opportunities for young players whose minutes would get restricted by another signing.
6.) 02 Aug 2024 05:19:57
Sorry all. Post shot off before it was ready.
Question was actually.
Who thinks because we had a disappointing finish to the season we need 2-3 players to seriously compete for the title OR who thinks we had a disappointing finish to the season because we got our tactics wrong and we in fact have a squad that can seriously compete
Love to hear your thoughts. Cheers.
7.) 02 Aug 2024 06:48:30
Tactics were the biggest issue for me Delvecs, and if Klopp were staying I’d say we weren’t in need of any signings, just a return to his high intensity heavy metal football.
However, Slot’s tactics are not the same so no doubt we will need to bring in a few players more suited to the way he wants to play. Also with players like Kelleher, Van den Berg and Diaz quite publically agitating for moves there is also a chance we’ll be forced into the market. Not to mention the uncertainty around Trent, Virgil, Salah, Gomez and Gravenberch. We need straight answers out of these players regarding their intentions so we can plan for next season accordingly.
8.) 02 Aug 2024 07:39:54
It’s going to be a tough start to the season due to the fact Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo, Allison, Mac, Vvd, Gomez and Trent don’t return to the club until around 11 days until the season kicks off with at least 1 friendly in amongst those days.
Ipswich weight seem like a nice opening fixture but so did Fulham 2 years ago under similar circumstances and that’s showed how underprepared we were and set the tone for the season where we drew our opening 2 and lost to Utd.
Ipswich would have had almost a full pre season with their squad to prepare for this fixture and arguably at least 6 of the 8 above are our strongest 11.
Interesting to see everyone’s thoughts on whether they think these players start v Ipswich.
9.) 02 Aug 2024 08:55:16
Yes MK, I think I agree. I recall Ed01 pushing this point last year, and the one before I think, to many deaf ears. We do have a tendency to slag off the player before the tactics, and coach. (almost as if Klopp was untouchable, although Ljinders was often crucified on this forum) . It will be very interesting how some of last years "disappointing players" perform under Slot.
10.) 02 Aug 2024 09:29:15
It’ll be a combination of both. Each off season club’s will want to improve and I hardly think any management or recruitment team will think it’s only player recruitment or only tactics that need to change in order to change fortunes.
11.) 02 Aug 2024 11:36:15
Still don't understand the Delvecs's question esp. the last statement in there.
12.) 02 Aug 2024 12:49:13
Sorry OliRed - it was a keyboard fail. It was actually quite a simple question:
Did we finish the way we did last year because the team wasn't good enough or because the tactics were wrong and we didn't get the best out of the team. That's it.
13.) 02 Aug 2024 14:13:44
There are no euros or world cup at end of next season so why are we starting the league so soon another two weeks could of been better for all the teams who had players away at euros.
08 Aug 2023 15:53:00
Q for Ed01, if I may.
Do you think that with a fully sorted midfield, there will be less urgency to sort defence?
In other words, do you think the defence's torrid year last year could be at least attributed to that midfield?
I'll take this opportunity to thank you for all the sterling Ed feedback on the site.
Cheers,
{Ed001's Note - that is what worries me, is them thinking that way. The biggest issue was the tactics, not the midfield or defence itself. But the defence needs to be sorted for the long term - especially if they decide to stick with this system. We don't have a defender who can operate as needed on the left, nor one that can stay fit on the right.
Getting the midfield sorted will be a help, it will provide more protection to the defence, but it is not the solution to the mess. As I kept saying last year, there is more to it.}
1.) 08 Aug 2023 16:54:37
Thanks Ed. Yes, quite right - tactics is main issue here, not so much the lines.
Cheers and, again, a long overdue thanks for your input and thoughts. Enjoy being here.
{Ed001's Note - thank you mate and good to have you here.}
2.) 08 Aug 2023 17:17:01
Klopp’s tactics have always been risky it’s what makes him as good as he is.
It was only a 4-5 years ago I was being told Klopp couldn’t organise a defence and the high line we adopt is suicidal.
Then we clicked and the rest is history. I’m not concerned about the tactics at all I know we will get it right and when we do we’ll be smashing it.
3.) 08 Aug 2023 17:23:36
I always thought that football was supposed to be simple.
Pretty sure Bob Paisley and the Boot Room boys didn’t spend hours on tactics.
Didn’t they usually spend time on getting in the right players to start with then get them pretty fit and just play 5 a side in training sessions.
Has it all changed because modern day players have been taught not to work it out for themselves on the pitch?
4.) 08 Aug 2023 18:15:50
I agree with you Becker's Pecker! I keep hearing Pep couldn't make it work so Klopp is doomed to failure and basically doesn't know what he's doing tactically.
I counter that and ask could Pep have achieved what Klopp has with the transfer budget he has had and the squad he inherited? Klopp can achieve things Pep can't, not the other way round.
Klopp didn't turn me into a believer until things got a bit tough, then I decide to start a season hoping for top 4, what's that all about (seen a few posters saying this) ?
We are Liverpool and as a supporter of 42yrs I start the season as always believing we can win the lot ?.
5.) 08 Aug 2023 19:58:47
I wish I could remember this great anecdote about Paisley - man of few words - before the 78 European Cup final saying to Kenny something like "their keeper seems to like to leave his goal line" so later Kenny chips him for a goal.
Something like that. Maybe someone here remembers better.
Tactics, huh.
6.) 08 Aug 2023 20:11:02
The midfield was really highlighted last season, even if the defence was at fault it was blamed on the midfield for not covering them. Trent and robbo were poor in parts last season. I'll cut trent a bit of slack with the stupid role he's expected to do on his own at times with elliot supposed to help him, but the sheer lack of grit and graft i can not, atleast robbo is a grafter. vvd was rubbish. Too slow and easily beaten and turning his back on shots instead of probably throwing himself in. Konate was the best cb we had last season but the injuries aren't helping. Gomez was as bad as trent getting beaten at the back post too. remember when we signed him he played lb for a while and was decent. could he not play the lcb role if klopp carries on with his tactic? . We seriously need to buy atleast another cb and either play gomez/ bradley at rb. Move trent into midfield 100%. can't understand why ramsey was sent out on loan now he's fit, looked decent when he played. Not even mentioning matip, his time is up and Joe's on borrowed time. My opion only guys. OR go back to how we used to play.
7.) 08 Aug 2023 21:43:03
Gotta say I mostly agree with that. Let's hope the players can turn back the years and we have a decent season.
If vvd Trent konate and even Robbo have a bad season I genuinely feel like we're doomed. I said over last few daysif the squad stays as it is and no improvement from players I am expecting around 10th place finish.
8.) 08 Aug 2023 23:14:41
Well negative if you expect the worst then you can never be disappointed I guess.
Not sure I’d want you in the trenches with me though.
9.) 09 Aug 2023 06:50:23
It's a troll Beckers. Why do you think the 1st login name was banned.
24 Jul 2023 18:45:54
Sorry. Are we panicking? I didn't get the memo.
1.) 24 Jul 2023 19:08:35
Fake news mate.
2.) 24 Jul 2023 21:07:41
Delvecs, oh yes "we" are. Browse thru the threads, man.
3.) 24 Jul 2023 21:33:30
Oli perhaps you should put up some rules that everyone has to follow.
Saves you having to talk Down to everyone then on every post as some kind of super fan.
4.) 25 Jul 2023 03:03:58
Ah, the ‘super fan’ thing is wheeled out yet again, by the usual suspect no less - everyone’s entitled to an opinion except when I disagree at which point we start the name calling and veiled threats, isn’t that right Mr Passive Aggressive? I await the usual response.
5.) 25 Jul 2023 06:03:46
??? Awe that’s cute.
When super fans stick together.
6.) 25 Jul 2023 07:47:26
The best thing about this thread is that the posts directly above it and below it are people panicking ?.
7.) 25 Jul 2023 08:30:13
I see someone else has noticed the "site hard man" slipping into his routine when he sees something he doesn't like.
8.) 25 Jul 2023 08:50:49
Super fans must be like power rangers.
They seem to assemble to make one big super fan.
You probably still watch it on CBeebies hey Flash.
9.) 25 Jul 2023 09:25:39
Sorry what? Power Rangers, what are you talking about? Are you saying you are a Power Rangers super fan? Aren’t you a bit old for that? ???.
10.) 25 Jul 2023 10:53:39
Power Rangers was on Channel 5 not CBeebies.
Or so I'm told.
28 Jun 2023 12:57:09
I know it's silly season but some of us are a bit too hung up about having a banging transfer window, methinks.
Some of the more astute posters here have correctly stated that, even if we did go hardcore, it wouldn't necessarily mean a banging season. Especially since we're tinkering in the engine room.
I think we need to put the KoolAid back in the fridge.
1.) 28 Jun 2023 13:19:22
That told them pesky non-astute posters. :)
Looks like every rival is tinkering with their engine room this summer so it’s a level playing field.
2.) 28 Jun 2023 13:24:54
Dear Eds, am I to understand from the above that we are interested in Benjamin Koolaid?
Can he cover multiple positions in midfield, defence and help the scaffolders with the stadium extension?
Will we actually be able to afford the £67m + add ons and his £250k salary?
If we can, why didn't we got for Bellingham? So what if he wanted to join Madrid, we must have been able to persuade/ kidnap him somehow?! After all, he comes from a long line of Liverpool supporters.
#FSGout.
3.) 28 Jun 2023 13:30:59
I really wish I could get this one and say RTFP. But no, this is new . Stand by punters.
4.) 28 Jun 2023 13:31:19
Zed, I thought we were interested in Mbappe for a 300m, according to the non-astute posters on the Tw@tter.
5.) 28 Jun 2023 14:22:13
What makes us posters on here better fans than Tw@tter posters.
I don’t use it but it’s a bit of an Ivory tower look down your nose outlook on it.
6.) 28 Jun 2023 14:37:19
Technically you'd struggle to look DOWN your nose at an ivory tower unless you were either a giant or in a hot air balloon.
Sorry JK23, I just couldn't resist!
7.) 28 Jun 2023 14:44:37
Damn, I misread your reply JK!
Ignore the above (which won't work if there's another post in between! )
8.) 28 Jun 2023 16:49:23
Spot on, JK23
While some individuals may view themselves as "better fans" for not using Twitter*, it is important to remember that the medium itself does not define the quality of our fandom or the depth of our engagement.
Someone might share some info from here on Twitter and make fun of this space by calling it "Liverpool Tumours". Doesn't look good at all. Right!
9.) 28 Jun 2023 18:18:58
Well they've had a full year to sort this summer transfer window and so far got in a good player in macallister. but I'd sooner go hardcore myself pal.
10.) 28 Jun 2023 19:31:00
So you're not hot for Benjamin Koolaid, Magico? He's the Belgian Balotelli. We've nailed a quadrella here.
11.) 28 Jun 2023 20:19:07
Does it really matter if it’s twitter, a fans forum or the front page of a national newspaper if the opinion put forward is gibberish?
12.) 28 Jun 2023 20:54:12
JK, especially from a poster who regurgitates literally everything they are told and doesn’t have a single opinion of their own ??.
13.) 28 Jun 2023 21:04:42
I heard that Liverpool are interested in signing French U21 left back Didier Baptiste from Monaco. Best bs rumour ever.
28 Aug 2024 17:29:18
thanks, obviously dredging the barrel.
27 Aug 2024 10:05:20
Penny market shopping is not the statement of intent I'd be looking for. I'd prefer no buys and see what tune Slot pulls out of our lads until the next window.
27 Aug 2024 05:22:55
Can't see it myself Gregarious.
It seems Salah can play every game. every minute of every hour of every day.
And Chiesa doesn't have an injury track record, he had a serious ACL injury and has not been the same since.
I live in Italy - not that it means anything - but he is not the heir to Salah, imho. Please no.
20 Aug 2024 16:42:20
Yeah, great stuff Ed02. Thanks from me too.
20 Aug 2024 12:40:24
This is brilliant and exactly why I'm signed up. Someone, somewhere, summertime. Glorious.
31 Aug 2024 09:20:21
Seano, UA, et al, seriously, relax.
Window closed. Season begins.
The only thing about tactics I've ever heard about Slot is his penchant for wingers. Everything else is in everyone else's head.
Talking of heads, I want the Mancs' on a plate tomorrow and Real Madrid's soon after.
31 Aug 2024 08:13:32
I want the Mancs done in their backyard tomorrow and I want Real done in ours. Like a dinner. Small steps.
30 Aug 2024 20:18:43
Tend to agree BP. Narratives do tend to develop a life of their own on this site and go running out of control (even when Ed01 delicately states othwrwise) .
Mind you I wouldn't know the difference between a DM and a 6 (as the youngsters like to say) and a double pivot thingy.
Beats me. I stay schtum.
30 Aug 2024 20:00:59
Nearly all my favourite posters are on this thread so better to ask here than anywhere else:
With what we have now are we going to have a better or worse season than last year?
Or, in other words, is Slot going to get a better tune out of the team than Klopp did last year?
30 Aug 2024 12:15:26
I can't for the life of me remember, JK23, and I can't find the post in the search. I just remember it being rather sound and that nobody responded to it.
