Koumetio withdrawn at HT for the U18's today. Supposedly with a view to getting a first team run out on Wednesday.

Jadon Havertz

1.) 05 Dec 2020 20:57:53
Fingers crossed that's true, don't want any first 11 defenders playing wed! Although we can't go to weak due to UEFA rules.

2.) 05 Dec 2020 22:33:05
We need to play the weakest side possible!

3.) 06 Dec 2020 22:27:17
I would give TAA 60 mins on Weds.

{Ed0666's Note - I would be tremendously surprised if Trent didn’t start and play at least the first half. Same with Keita and maybe just maybe the Ox. Billy the kid and Rhys Williams in the center and Tsmakis in for Robbo. Origi, Tiki, Clain, Clarkson and who knows the others...who cares. Just wrap the first teasers up in cotton wool.

4.) 08 Dec 2020 01:54:38
Any chance we can just forfeit the three points?

5.) 09 Dec 2020 14:01:35
I would go with

Van Der Berg

Hello Ed's,
Do you see Burnley coming back in for Wilson after there bad start or is that interest well and truly over? and if so, is any other club trying to get him?

Jadon Havertz

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool value him higher than bidders do and may have realised it would be of use with the CL squad size.}

23 Jan 2020 18:06:19
Are we interested in Pedro Brazao?

Jadon Havertz

{Ed002's Note - Pedro Brazao (LW/RW) Nice have confirmed that they have been approached by Sporting and Bayern Munich to enquire after the kiddie but are concerned that two other sides have made an approach to a third party "representing" the player. As the player is under aged, they are obliged to formally record these concerns in writing to the FFF - as payments to third parties for underage players are not allowed (this is what has caused the UEFA investigation in to Manchester City over payments made for Jadon Sancho). The player has been advised to stay where he is and develop.}

Hi Ed001,how highly rated is young Kaide Gordon by the club? Know he's not at the club long but he's made a brilliant start.

Jadon Havertz

{Ed001's Note - very highly rated, they went to a lot of trouble to get him.}

1.) 05 May 2021 14:44:46
Yeh i'd say so, only 16 but already looks too good for the U18's.

{Ed001's Note - I would expect him to be in the 21s next season.} Become a Patron!

2.) 05 May 2021 15:06:45
Most of the u18s look too good for the u23s too b honest, averaging 3 goals a game over season .

3.) 05 May 2021 15:57:39
I think we all, as fans, suffer from impatience! Look at players like Keide Gordon, Musialowski and Balagizi (to name 3 great academy prospects) and you think "why do we need to worry about buying Mbappe etc when we have academy talents who could save us 10s of millions".

But we do need to give them time. I hope that 1 or 2 of them can get loans to decent Championship sides, like Elliot has done, and then be ready in a season or two to pick up first team appearances, again, like I hope Elliot will do in 21/ 22.

It would be fantastic to grow these players and either save us a bundle on transfer fees, or get us £10-£20m in a few years to reinvest in the team.

To be honest, I think we've shown signs of doing that well in recent years. We've had TAA and Jones (more recently) breaking through (with Elliot to come) and we've picked up decent money for Ibe, Wisdom, Solanke (albeit he was only with us briefly) and hopefully Wilson, Ojo and Woodburn this season (maybe not £10m a pop, but at least the 3 of them together may contribute to a £20m recruit) .

I'm looking forward to the next few years to see how they develop, then again I said the same a few years back about Mellor and Flanagan!

4.) 05 May 2021 16:30:15
I know what you mean Zeddicus. just grates when i look at the likes of Origi and Taki taking up wages and squad places when their output could easily be replaced by some of these kids. Not saying they should be first 11 but if Origi, Taki nd say Shaquiri were to leave this summer and be replaced by a new signing and Elliott with the kids there for early rounds of the cups or Europa League.

5.) 05 May 2021 16:44:59
Agree with Jadon Havertz.
I'd happily replace Origi, Shaq and Taki this summer with Elliot, Musialowski and a new CF.
We say a lot of wages and the kids will run through brick wall for the manager unlike the non performing squad players.

{Ed0666's Note - sounds like a fair swap to me

6.) 05 May 2021 17:05:31
That's actually a very good call IB.

7.) 05 May 2021 17:26:30
Throw in the likes of Wilson, Ojo and Awoniyi too.

8.) 05 May 2021 18:07:25
Agree to a point with the OP but Foden never went on loan. Now I'm not for one second saying any of these kids are at or near his level but he was kept around City's 1st team training and learning everyday from Aguero etc, making the bench and starting the odd game here and there. Would that be another option for them?

9.) 05 May 2021 18:00:34
Good call Jadon (your first comment) I didn't even think about our squad places. I'd love to see some of the kids given a try, whether they grow into the new Mbappe or simply decent backups.

With most teams, the system is often more important than the individuals. So, having a, say, £100m player replaced (through injury, suspension, AFCON etc) by a £20m player who knows the system inside out is going to be much better for the team than having a £40-£50m player replacing them who is being played out of position.

I really hope we go through this process of selling those players who are older and maybe not going to make it as 1st team players (Origi, Shaq, Wilson, Ojo, Woodburn, Awoniyi etc etc) and replacing them with Academy potentials who *may* become 1st team players, but at least have been trained for certain roles. And most importantly they they are usually both HG and CT.

I actually thought that Chelsea, in Frank's first season when they had the transfer ban, were looking really good for developing a group of youngsters, but then Abramovic got his chequebook out and started again.

If we can promote from within for the "12-23" places then we can use the funds for 1-2 really fantastic players to improve the 1st team.

10.) 05 May 2021 19:24:07
Exactly Zeddicus. think were slowly but surely producing a group of players (Kelleher, Neco, Jones and Elliott) who can go on to be AT LEAST squad players at the club and hopefully they are just the start.

11.) 05 May 2021 19:21:54
Ed1, do you wish klopp would just blood some of these promising youngsters? It just seems not many make it.

{Ed001's Note - TAA and Jones have come through, the likes of the two Williams and others have had chances. Why would I have a problem with the way Klopp handles youngsters because he is not giving a 16 year old chances?}

12.) 05 May 2021 19:54:17
If these kids end up being good enough, we couldn't ask for a better manager than Klopp in terms of giving them chances when they are ready. He won't rush them but won't be afraid to give them a go if they deserve it either.

13.) 05 May 2021 20:54:17
Yeah, guess I'm just being impatient! Would just love a young forward to come through and set the world alight! I'm excited about the youngsters we have coming through and just hope they make it. Guess my point was just that rather than questioning klopp as it came across. In regards to the 2 Williams lads, I'm not sure either will make it.

{Ed001's Note - you have to be patient with them. They won't be able to play regularly until they are 18 anyway. As for the Williams duo, Neco might but not a chance for Rhys sadly.}

13 Apr 2021 11:25:06
Happy Birthday to Neco Williams! Twenty odd appearances by the age of Twenty. Perfect back up to Trent who will only get better and who has a real love for the club.

Jadon Havertz

1.) 13 Apr 2021 14:25:34
And PL champion to boot, OP.

2.) 13 Apr 2021 18:10:15
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but Neco won’t make it at Liverpool. I would love him to but I just can’t see it. I can see him carving out a career for himself at a mid table team though.

10 Apr 2021 21:19:33
am i right in saying the Eds stated a few days ago that if utd win the europa league and finish in the top 4 then 5th place gets champions league? i've tried to find it but cant.

Jadon Havertz

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

1.) 10 Apr 2021 22:12:54
I'd rather play in the Europa league next season than cheer on Man Utd in any game 😂.

2.) 10 Apr 2021 23:05:56
Ed is that the same for the champions league if city win or Chelsea or Liverpool if one of them 2 won it and finished top 4 then 5th in the league would get champions league.

{Ed002's Note - Yes it is, but not both - so if Manchester City win the CL and MU win the Europa League and both miss out on the top four then there will be five entries with 4th dropping to the Europa League.}

3.) 10 Apr 2021 23:24:07
Ed002 is that a new rule from this season.

{Ed002's Note - There is a maximum number of five teams. If Manchester United were to win EL and Chelsea CL and both end up out of the top 4, then fourth pace will drop to the EL. These is a maximum of five sides.}

4.) 11 Apr 2021 07:14:57
I understand that Ed but when we won it and finished 2nd the 5th team did not get into the champions league and I don’t think there was 5 teams from Germany this season so that’s why I was wondering if it was new this year.
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - no, that's because the extra place is for the Europa League winner. If the Europa League had been won by an English team that year, England would have had 5 teams in the Champions League.}

5.) 11 Apr 2021 10:06:16
Hi Ed,

In 2019, Liverpool won the champions league and Chelsea won the Europa league. But I believe only 4 teams entered the champions league, where both Liverpool and Chelsea finished in the top 4 (2nd and 3rd place) .

Does that mean this is a new rule or am I getting my years mixed up?

{Ed002's Note - The rule used to be only four teams, now it allows for five.}

6.) 11 Apr 2021 10:50:26

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are to end up 5th, realistically they will want Chelsea to win the CL and drop down to 6th.}

7.) 11 Apr 2021 10:51:36
But if we managed to get 4th place and both Man U win the EL and city win the champions league then we will drop out 😖 sounds about right to cap this season off!

03 Apr 2021 18:21:49
Great win gor the 18s in the youth Cup over UTD today! Without a lot of their best players.

Jadon Havertz

1.) 03 Apr 2021 18:43:24
Yes, I watched some of the game not pretty but a great result.

28 Dec 2020 19:23:11
Ed001 would you have Van den Berg aheadof williams/ phillips so?

Jadon Havertz

{Ed001's Note - ahead of Williams, yes, but Phillips seems a better defender to me.}

1.) 28 Dec 2020 21:17:59
Klopp prefers Williams.

2.) 28 Dec 2020 22:13:00
I prefer Phillips too.

3.) 28 Dec 2020 22:25:12
Phillips has always been my choice.

4.) 28 Dec 2020 22:05:04
I am glad you said Phillip's ed people seem too be sleeping on him . He is aggressive in the air and the type of defender needed against the likes of west Brom. I hope he gets a chance .

5.) 28 Dec 2020 22:48:06
mine as well. i thought he looked good against spurs. don't really understand why he hasn't gotten another opportunity.

6.) 28 Dec 2020 23:09:19
Stone Williams played against Spurs mate.

7.) 28 Dec 2020 23:11:52
Too me he looks physically stronger than ryhs Williams and better in the air.

8.) 29 Dec 2020 16:58:54
Phillips all day.

Sadio averages 14 league goals a season over his 5 years with us. Would be fairly confident Sancho could match that. Salah on the other hand is unsellable.

So do you expact us to finish behind chelsea and utd next season then? Lfc fans love a bit of negativity these days don't they. i don't know what signings will be made in the summer but as things stand, right now i would expect to finish ahead of both.
