If the Glazers are reading this, if you must sack Ole, cabbage head Bruce is looking for work?

VictorVaughanVaudevilleVillain

1.) 20 Oct 2021 21:13:44
Utd are still winning this.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree

2.) 20 Oct 2021 21:40:46
Always right.

3.) 20 Oct 2021 21:45:02
Good call OMM and Ed0666.

{Ed0666's Note - that double save by the rejuvenated De Gea @ 1-2 was crucial. Atalanta look absolutely shattered

4.) 20 Oct 2021 21:53:17
Tails up for Sunday now.

5.) 20 Oct 2021 22:07:56
A rejuvenated De Gea a good result for them tonight Sunday will be very interesting for sure lad's 👍.

6.) 20 Oct 2021 22:29:40
Tails can be up lads but if they play how they did tonight even in the second half we will put 4 or 5 past them. Atalanta have never been a team that can defend and had 6 first team players out along with demiral then going off. United don't deserve credit for that tonight in all honesty but they won and got 3 points that's all that matter for them.

Bring them on on Sunday I've never been as confident going there.

7.) 20 Oct 2021 22:31:22
Does anyone realise that Ole and Klopps record at this point in Oles reign is almost identical points wise? At 104 games in charge klopp only had 3 points more then Ole. Was surprised to read that. On BBC McNulty article. Let’s hope the paths do not carry on so similar.

8.) 20 Oct 2021 23:50:16
That's easy to say but did you look at the squads that both inherited. Ole had a fairly good squad and money to burn on players while we had an ok squad and need to sell to buy.

9.) 21 Oct 2021 00:21:19
Grobs points record aside how much has ole spent on so called ready made world class players? To be honest I do think the guy could be a decent manager but he isn't making the decisions. Let's be fair he didn't want Ronaldo and signing him has completely offset the slight progress that was made regarding the team and tactics as everything had to change.

10.) 21 Oct 2021 02:04:55
Grobs Tash - What’s your point exactly?
Do you think Ole is doing a job comparable to what Klopp has done?
Consider the squads each inherited. Klopp had as many Championship players as he did Premier League players, meanwhile Ole had a team packed with quality and one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Ole has also been given well over a hundred million season to buy his way to the top, while Klopp is told to sell first if he needs reinforcements and to “do better with what he has” 🤢.
Bottom line is that the two managers are incomparable - one is a truly elite coach, the other is a decent manager way out of his depth at his current club.

11.) 21 Oct 2021 05:17:00
Have a look at what klopp has won and what ole has won? . case closed.

12.) 21 Oct 2021 05:51:47
McNulty’s article then went on to say that Klopp’s record then got better and better and better. One’s not going so well at the moment.

That said, it’s just ‘lies, damn lies and statistics’ and means nothing.

13.) 21 Oct 2021 06:35:11
Utd have been this poor and inconsistent in the 3 years Ole has been there. How many times in those 3 Years have we given them a hammering?

I’m not sure it’s the case that they find an extra gear against us but more we drop Down the gears against them.

Personally I’d take any kind of win against them and the bragging rights.

14.) 21 Oct 2021 07:23:49
To compare Ole and Klopp is quite frankly bonkers.

15.) 21 Oct 2021 07:32:26
Should finish reading the BBC article. After klopp started to bring in his own players, his average points per game shot up. Ole inherited a much better squad and has spent a huge amount more. Not really a comparison.

16.) 21 Oct 2021 07:54:16
VVVV, it seems having taken the £8m payout, Cabbage Head has decided to retire aged 60.

17.) 21 Oct 2021 08:35:34
If klopp had the players that Ole has they would be fighting on all fronts. Look at the team that SAF had to win their last title, id argue the squad that Ole has now has a lot more depth.

Yes their records are similar after 100 odd games, but the teams to achieve those hauls with don't even compare.

Klopps early teams included migs Clyne, moreno and skrtel. Ole has De gea an 80m CB and about 75m in his LB and RB. Itd be like comparing Bruce's haul at Newcastle before the takeover to what they will be like in about 5 years time.

18.) 21 Oct 2021 08:52:07
Grob Tash, you are making the very same dishonest points Neville made in a bid to raise Ole's record towards Klopp's or to lower Klopp's level to Ole's. You fail to mention the team Ole' took over which was WAY better than the crap mess in terms of squad quality that BR left Klopp when he arrived.

Also, in the first 3 years, Ole outspent Klopp 421m to 234m with Klopp turning a profit so they may have identical records on the face of it BUT context is lacking in your arguments. Oh, did I mention that Klopp broke his duck by winning Ol' Big Ears whereas Ole is yet to win an argument or a corner kick despite outspending him by near 2 to 1 in those 3 years? Like I said, I expect such arguments from the dishonest and agenda driven Gary Neville, not from an LFC fan. Tragic.

19.) 21 Oct 2021 09:39:10
If klopp inherited the same players as Ole he wouldve done the right thing and got rid of half of them who aren't to the standard instead of giving them new contracts like united seem to have done for so many feibg players since Ole took over. he's a useless manager that's had lots of money to spend and had several very good players to start with. But tactically hasn't got a clue. May his man u reign live forever.

20.) 21 Oct 2021 16:55:02
Wow sensitive bunch here. No one as far as I can read compared Ole to Klopp. My point was merely that for such a terrible woeful manager as everyone labels him his points per game record at this stage is almost the same as Klopps was bar three points. Found it surprising. That’s all. No deep dive into it. No one suggesting he’s the next Klopp or will be better then Pep. Some here need a little cup of camomile tea and relax.
I expect us to be good enough to win, just might not be the apparent walk in the park most suggest it’ll be.

{Ed0666's Note - I love camomile tea doesent do anything g for my nerves tho

21.) 21 Oct 2021 17:11:37
Wanted them to win. Keeps Ole in the job longer.

Imagine Sancho is going to get a lot of stick around the premier league now. I’ll call it now, but I think he’s going to flop,

VictorVaughanVaudevilleVillain

1.) 11 Jul 2021 23:14:33
Because he missed a penalty? Don’t talk rubbish. He played one game and played very well.

{Ed014's Note - did he really?

2.) 11 Jul 2021 23:29:07
I guess you didn’t watch that game then Ed? I thought he played well. By your skewered rationale you probably think
Southgate is a master tactician.

{Ed014's Note - don’t be a plonker, Southgate is a clown, Sancho had one turn and shot and another run with the ball which ended with him being fouled.

If that’s your skewed idea of a good game I suggest you give your head a shake! 🤦‍♂️

3.) 11 Jul 2021 23:29:29
I’m old enough to remember Euro 96 and France 98, Batty and Southgate got a lot of stick just for missing in a semi, Beckham got loads for getting sent off in a quarter final against Argentina, by and large football fans haven’t changed so he’s going to get dogs abuse.

4.) 11 Jul 2021 23:44:40
Doesn't even need to be a major finals, VVVV. Gerrard got a load of stick for having a mediocre game in a qualifier for England once.

Responded to the boos by smashing a freekick into the Newcastle net from 30 yards if I remember correctly.

5.) 11 Jul 2021 23:57:17
Add that onto the huge fee he’s got, it adds huge pressure to him. Every game he doesn’t perform and gets abuse at will become worse than the last.

6.) 12 Jul 2021 00:17:23
I watched the match and I agree with ed 100%.

22 Jun 2021 20:20:55
That Saka lad from Arsenal is a bit good.

VictorVaughanVaudevilleVillain

1.) 22 Jun 2021 20:46:41
I’d donate my testies to science for us to sign him.

2.) 22 Jun 2021 20:48:33
Best player so far.

3.) 22 Jun 2021 21:00:10
He's good but he has willing accomplices in the Czech players. They're just standing there watching him drive past them with the ball. Maybe they should pause and applaud, while they're at it.

4.) 22 Jun 2021 21:15:39
I will also donate my testies. Im just going to ask the mrs if i can have them back.

5.) 22 Jun 2021 21:24:26
What a goal by modric. What a player.

6.) 22 Jun 2021 21:33:23
We have some exciting players but still look woeful. I put that at Southgates door.

But yes saka easily the best player on the pitch today and wish the grealish love in would stop, there so far up his backside they can see out of his mouth.

7.) 22 Jun 2021 21:43:56
Really struggling to stay awake.

8.) 22 Jun 2021 22:08:38
Watching England is like watching Man Utd, hard work at times.
It’s the downside to that 4-3-3-1 isn’t it?
Slow midfield play but hard to break down equally.
It’s the football equivalent to painting by numbers, all structured and low risk.
I have a feeling that Klopp’s going to have us doing it this coming season to accommodate Thiago more.
I just hope we see the Bayern version of the formation and not the Man Utd one.

{Ed025's Note - its all very safe and boring juicer, if we go behind to a team it could be curtains mate..

9.) 22 Jun 2021 22:14:51
England would be so much more fluid without Kane. Running like a cart horse, always late, it's holding the whole team back. Without him there'd be quick interchanges, getting the ball down the flanks, Saka immense, Sterling and Grealish combining well - Rashford in place of Kane and they’d be outpacing teams. Their over reliance on Kane is their weakness.

{Ed025's Note - the slow build up is giving harry nothing jim, its far too safe with all this backward and sideways passing in our own half mate...its like watching liverpool .. :)

10.) 23 Jun 2021 02:49:06
United scored more goals than us last season tbf. I don’t think our football has been great on the eye for a while it’s a lot of crossing, long balls into to the opposition CBs head and goals off set pieces. 19/ 20 we had keepers making mistakes against us almost every game for goals. Then again 16/ 17 and 17/ 18 we played great football but won nothing. There’s not many teams anymore that play great football ‘on the eye’ regularly anyway, Man City and Leeds maybe although we’ve shown were capable.

11.) 23 Jun 2021 03:21:17
Apparently Saka is as nice a guy as he is a good baller. Hope he has an awesome career.

12.) 23 Jun 2021 04:05:24
DavidK - I’ll bite. Your post is up there with the guy who made a ridiculous one about Mbappe the other day.

13.) 23 Jun 2021 08:29:25
Typo on my post above obviously, should have read 4-2-3-1.
How subdued was Henderson’s role as well?
On the plus side, if Liverpool adopting that formation means less of Henderson charging around getting fatigued and injured, then it wouldn’t be all bad I suppose.
And if it allows Thiago to weave his magic, then hopefully our play won’t be as laborious as last night’s.

14.) 23 Jun 2021 11:33:21
DavidK, you must have slept through the seasons you are talking about as none of what you say is true about Liverpool during any of the seasons you posted. For the past 4 seasons before this one, we are top 3 in goals scored. We are very dynamic in attack and can hurt you in different ways.

You think we did all that just by opposing teams making mistakes, their GK's making mistakes, or CB's scoring headers (whatever that means) and all that other stuff you mentioned? If it wasn't for our forwards being not converting as many chances as they should in the past 4 seasons, heaven only knows how many goals we would have scored.

If you think so then, you either have a short memory or remember those 4 seasons very differently cos for those of us who have been awake this whole time, we have played some of the best football in the 4 seasons (before this past one) the PL has ever seen and were UEFA and FIFA Team Of The Year twice during this period. I propose you watch us back again and judge for yourself.

15.) 23 Jun 2021 12:24:57
I think Southgate just has to go. End of. But who would replace him? We aren't spoilt for choice at all.

I would go all out to convince Harry Redknapp to come out of retirement. I know a lot of people don't rate him but I think he's by far the best qualified for the job compared to the other candidates.

He's had success in tournaments winning the FA Cup with Portsmouth and getting to the Champions League quarter finals with Spurs, he has a lot of experience in football generally and I think he has the right temperament to deal with the players. He can be friendly and positive with them when it suits to motivate them but he can also clash heads when he needs to.

16.) 23 Jun 2021 13:41:52
8d let southgate leave only if united sign him to replace ole.

17.) 22 Jun 2021 23:42:40
I meant 4-2-3-1 obviously.
A typo there, as I’m sure Ed025’s was when he said Liverpool by mistake instead of United.

{Ed025's Note - no it was liverpool juicer, mind you so are a lot of teams because this pointless possession and passing backwards and sideways is an epidemic at the moment mate..

You certainly don’t skimp on details Ed. Thank you! I hope you had a good Christmas and hopefully a boozy new year to follow.

As for what we’re looking at, selling any of our starters for Traore would be crass stupidity by the club, as would be accepting any deal from Barcelona for Salah which included their deadwood. There’s not one player at Barcelona even remotely worth taking, their current league position and performances in the champions league is testament to how awful and how far they’ve fallen. Essentially a one man team has been found out.

I wouldn’t get any hopes up of a summer spending spree. We’re likely to see empty stadiums again and we know what happened last time. If we end up selling Mane and Firmino, it’s not going to bring in a lot of money (age/ form/ remaining contract length), and certainly not enough to adequately replace either of them. Forget the likes of Bissouma, Neuhaus, Martinez or Diaz, even the likes of Raphinha, as the money isn’t there and selling Mane and Firmino won’t raise enough for that. IF we spend to replace, it’s going to be bargain basement dross like Traore or Dembele, neither of whom are fit for purpose. And in Dembele’s case he’s not fit for anything.

And that’s without mentioning Salah’s contract issues.

Mane won’t bring in much if we sell him, he’s nearly 30, only one year left on his contract and very few clubs out there with money to spend barring the petrochemical clubs (who won’t be interested), we’d get a nominal fee for Firmino, again age and lack of money out there.

And then you have to take into account disbursements which eat into the transfer fee we receive. We’d barely have £30-40m to spend, which goes nowhere.

It’s telling that the only players we’ve seriously looked at are Traore and Dembele, which is bargain basement stuff and let’s be honest neither of them are fit to replace either Mane or Firmino.

That’s without mentioning Salah’s situation.

Genuinely think that if they’ve not renewed by the end of March, then I think they’ll not sign at all, as it’s the same situation as McManaman, Owen, Can and Wijnaldum and we know how that went.

I don’t share your optimism, but we simply can’t afford to compete for the best players. Or even good ones who can kick on and become top class. Just look at the players we’re legitimately linked with, that tells a story.

It’s going to be difficult to replace Mane with our budget constraint and impossible to replace Salah, and if we have to replace both then I can see us slipping out of the top four.

VictorVaughanVaudevilleVillain

{Ed0666's Note - Are you talking Xmas Eve cobblers VVVV? The way Mane has been plying the last couple of season it won’t be impossible to replace him. Promo Mane yes that would be an impossible task but not the Mane 2021. I think we’ll be ok. That’s why I think we’ll keep Salah give him that astonishing contract he craves/deserves and sell Sadio & Bobby, It makes total sense to me from a economical and footballing basis if you ask me. Bobby is not the player he was as I say nor is Sadio we can still get a little money for them, replace them with younger players. You recoup some money and bring down the average age of the squad.
