Hi Eds, do you think we'll dip into the January transfer market, I realize that Elliot will be back by Jan/ Feb but we still haven't replaced Gini and I still think we need another forward player/ Striker? Or do you think we'll wait for next summer?

Wuger12

{Ed002's Note - I am expecting Origi to leave for France or Belgium in January but many clubs try to avoid planning to buy in January as players are less likely to be available. It is possible but there needs to be a focus on next summer.}

1.) 20 Sep 2021 14:13:54
Ed. 002

What sort of position could we be in next summer? You've mentioned the need to sell before we buy, we sold a bit (Shaq, etc. ) . You've stated that previous purchases need to be paid off (Jota, etc. ), perhaps they will be completed. You've said that C.V. has hit all clubs (Ticket and TV revenue), Now that we are back to full stadiums and presuming that we can have a whole season with fans. Do you expect the club to be in a better position to dip into the market or do you think we will still be struggling financially?

{Ed002's Note - The club will declare significant losses in February and whilst there will be more money about the club will need to sell if they wish to make significant purchases.}

2.) 20 Sep 2021 14:39:29
Thank you. Presumably, "significant purchases" would require a Mane or such like to be sold first or a girth of peripheral players.

3.) 20 Sep 2021 15:59:01
I'd really appreciate Salah staying 😅.

4.) 20 Sep 2021 16:21:37
There’s no way we can sell salah! Just give the lad a new contract.

5.) 20 Sep 2021 16:33:51
I don't think Salah will leave, Barcelona are broke, I think Madrid have other priorities, and then you've got Juve, Bayern, and PSG. PSG I feel is a retirement home so you've only really got Juve or Bayern to compete with.
Maybe the above is all nonsense but I just feel like he won't have many better options to us and will eventually sign a big fat contract.

No doubt a few fringe players like Origi will go soon and we'll see a pretty big signing join along with the emergence of youth players.

6.) 20 Sep 2021 16:47:57
Agreed long. So in Jan we have no Salah, no Mane, no Origi and no Elliot. Makes it a little tricky.

7.) 20 Sep 2021 18:41:51
Prior to C.V. we had no thiago, curtis or elliot playing. Due to the fluke injuries last year 2 got game time and now elliot. With those three why are people still going on about a gini replacement. They are the replacement. Start to get to grips with it. We have no money give the youth a chance.

8.) 20 Sep 2021 18:52:33
I think I'd be happy if Keita goes, he should fetch 30m, possibly Firmino at maybe 45m, I think I may get hassle for that, if we can get Conan for 60m then maybe Mane for £80m. I really would like to avoid selling Mane but if needs must.

{Ed025's Note - conan for £60m?...thats barbaric wuger.. :)

9.) 20 Sep 2021 20:08:45
Can’t see anyone paying 45m for Firmino. The only top level club I could see interested in a non scoring/ link type striker would be Atletico and they just re-signed Griezmann. 80m for Mane is a bit of a stretch too unless he’s back to top form from 2 years ago.

10.) 20 Sep 2021 20:25:08
Mane won't be going anywhere anytime soon. And Keita most likely won't be either. Or Firmino.
Enjoy the fantasy though!

11.) 20 Sep 2021 20:46:38
So Flash the red, as you can see the ed said we need to sell to buy so who would you sell?

12.) 20 Sep 2021 22:41:30
Wuger, nobody. Enjoy the top quality players we have when we have them and stop wishing them away just so we can have a new shiny player to get excited about. Of course we need to replace them gradually so as we aren't left with 3 players up top in their mid 30s. No panic and as long as Klopp stays who knows who they plan to sign. The players everyone will be crying to sign in 2 years might be unknowns at the min.

13.) 20 Sep 2021 22:52:57
Wuger, I’d rather keep Mane than sell him to buy Coman. He’s injury prone and doesn’t score anywhere near the amount that Mane does.

14.)

15.) 21 Sep 2021 00:15:45
Are there many other players we could buy that are as perfèctly matched to our style and identity as Mane. And he scores and creates goals.

16.) 20 Sep 2021 19:39:57
Hi Ed25, what's he likely to sell for?

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know mate..

17.) 20 Sep 2021 19:50:26
🤣🤣 love it 025 mate.

{Ed025's Note - i think your the only one who got that jimmy, kudos mate..

18.) 21 Sep 2021 07:16:29
If I identify as Mane they can sign me 🤪.

19.) 21 Sep 2021 07:22:18
I won't bother answering at length Wuger, the guys have done a terrific job of summing it up for me.
Especially Kloppdog who just nailed it.

20.) 21 Sep 2021 07:16:04
I do think Mane will leave next summer. Once Salah gets his bumper contract, I don't think the club will have the stomach to give Mane a huge contract as well. Also, he might be the only major saleable asset out of the players who have not signed new contracts (once Salah signs his) . Bobby i think will sign a contract extension on lower wages and we will bring in 2 new forwards to replace Mane, Origi and Minamino next summer.

21.) 21 Sep 2021 12:17:36
Just because a player has signed a long term contract doesn’t mean the club won’t sell him or that the player won’t leave anyway. Getting players onto long term contracts is alsoa safeguard that the club will make money if they do let a player leave.

15 Sep 2021 13:27:40
Hi Eds, haven't come across this name before but is there any interest in Amine Giourmi I think his name is, plays for Nice.

Wuger12

{Ed002's Note - Amine Gouiri (S) Having only been that the club for a year it was easy for Nice to fend off the interest in Inter Milan. Scouts from a number of clubs have been impressed by his performances this season and PSG and others may look to him next summer, perhaps Liverpool - but he will want a guarantee of being a starter.}

1.) 15 Sep 2021 17:18:38
I just came on here to ask the same question as I'd seen some rumours. He's a good young talent. Has a bit of everything. Plays in a front 2 at nice with Dolberg so not sure where he would fit in along our front 3 could possibly play in all 3 positions as he has pace and skill and some decent link up. But unless we're going to sell one of our 4 then doesn't look viable but he's at the sort of age we should be looking at if were going to do a changing of the guard.

2.) 17 Sep 2021 14:59:44
Firmino probably goes next summer aswell as Minamino and Origi. Plenty of good forwards who should be available next summer we should be bringing in two.

3.) 17 Sep 2021 21:39:21
I personally don’t think we should sign anyone that wants a guarantee of being a starter.

4.) 20 Sep 2021 09:50:23
Guaranteed to he a start in one of the best 11s in world foot love the confidence of these players who have done nothing yet.

20 Aug 2021 18:31:21
Hi Eds, are we still in contract negotiations with Lyon to sell Shaquiri, has there been any breakthroughs. I seem to be reading about this story for the past 2/ 3 weeks.

Wuger12

{Ed002's Note - The clubs are a long way apart of price.}

1.) 20 Aug 2021 22:47:56
If they sell cornet or aour then they can pay the £12m so no need to rush.

2.) 21 Aug 2021 04:43:53
If you can give details. they want for 6M euros and we want around 10M?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool want €15M and Lyon value him at less than half of that.}

3.) 21 Aug 2021 09:14:20
I know we might have pushed our luck with valuations but less than €8m for Shaq? Come on.

4.) 21 Aug 2021 11:12:31
Did they not watch the Euros? I’m sorry but €15m for a player of Shaq’s quality is more than fair.
I’d rather keep him than get our pants pulled down like that!

5.) 21 Aug 2021 11:34:51
If they value him at less than that then laugh at them. Keep him for another year then no need to buy another attackeŕ. that's a pathetic valuation outa them.

{Ed002's Note - They have other options and income from two more sales - they certainly won't be worried about the Liverpool fans laughing at them.}

6.) 21 Aug 2021 12:42:46
This is the same club that have a different price for English clubs when selling their own players. Let them look else where.

7.) 21 Aug 2021 13:11:41
7.5mil is crazy valuation for Shaq imo but it's not my money lol.

8.) 21 Aug 2021 15:47:24
Surely if we are that far apart in negotiations we need to pull out.

{Ed0666's Note - you talking about my sex life again?

9.) 21 Aug 2021 17:01:19
Very, very good Sir😂.

{Ed0666's Note - why thankyou

10.) 21 Aug 2021 19:00:57
Ed 2. couldn't care less whether they care about liverpool fans. That valuation and offer is nothing short of a joke. Shaq is easily a 15-25m pound player easily. Always different when we are in forone of theirs. Tell them to fook off. End of.

{Ed002's Note - That is the attitude that results in Liverpool not being able to sell players and Klopp not getting the players he really wants.}

11.) 21 Aug 2021 22:17:37
I think prices are currently going pre Neymar to PSG when they were a bit normal and sane, atleast until this C.V. complication is over which is likely to be 2-3 years.

12.) 21 Aug 2021 22:27:12
Ed02. That hints that you would accept the deal they are offering. How do you defend accepting a low price for him when most people think he is worth more?

{Ed002's Note - It is fine, Liverpool can keep him and not add anyone else that Klopp wants instead. There are few that would value him at £25M.

13.) 22 Aug 2021 04:25:00
I just think that we have to be sensible about such things. We utterly ripped some teams off for the price we got for players like Solanke, Brad Smith, etc

And big players have also moved for very small sums before like Evra, Alderwereld.

14.) 22 Aug 2021 03:24:42
Ed.002 Are you of the opinion that £15M is an overvaluation of Shaqiri value? I understand what you are saying about allowing players to leave in order to gain funds for players that Klopp wants.

Recently we have been talking about Philips worth using White as a bench mark. Now, we are looking at Shaq, a full international who showcased his talents at the Euros. I think the majority of us are trying to look at this without the red tinted glasses and genuinely believe the player has a reasonable price tag on him. We respect your point of view as someone who is in the business of the game and not a fan of the club. So, do you really believe Liverpool are overvaluing him?

{Ed002's Note - £15M is more than clubs will pay - and he certainly is not worth the £25M one supporter suggested. There were no takers with the €15M (which will be around £13M) asking price making two interested sides walk away. The one offer Liverpool have had is for slightly less than half of the asking price. Again Liverpool asked an unreasonable price for Taiwo Awoniyi and had to reduce it significantly to sell him - and Grujic was priced out of a move and went on loan.

I have no idea folks want to try and price Phillips using Ben White as a bench mark or how that makes any sense at all.

Departures this summer have raised about half of the Konate fee - that is it. Efforts have been made to sell others to fund the likes of Sanches and a versatile forward but have gone nowhere. Last summers transfers are yet to be paid for in full. Klopp knows he has to do more with the players he has at his disposal and would need the club to take on more debt to cover any further transfer dealings - which they might consider doing - but players need to move on first.}

15.) 22 Aug 2021 12:33:07
Hi Ed.002, thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

I guess like in all walks of life, it's only too expensive if it doesn't sell. If someone is willing to pay the price then its a reasonable price. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

16.) 22 Aug 2021 18:19:44
I would look at it differently if you're looking at an ageing player who hardly plays for you, hardly makes an impact beyond select games and is mostly taking up a space on your bench. If you don't sell him now, you're foregoing the 7.5 Million that you're getting as an offer and also paying him his wages of 4 Million before he walks away for free next summer. That's a total of 11.5 Million that you're giving up to keep him at the club.

Take the 7.5 Million now, invest it in a young player who will cost far less in wages too, for at least a few years. I'm aware there's a business model to try to always make a profit on player sales but models have to be adapted to market conditions. He may have been worth 25 Million when he joined us (we got a bargain then) but he is no bargain anymore.

19 Aug 2021 20:29:58
Hi Eds, just wondered, is there still interest in Draxler or has that ship sailed?

Wuger12

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 19 Aug 2021 23:03:34
That ship has well and truly sank I would say.

12 Aug 2021 17:32:01
Well it looks like a matter of time before Shaqiri announced as a Lyon player and Sanches is announced as a Liverpool player. Who do we all think is going to be our other signing?

Wuger12

1.) 12 Aug 2021 18:52:31
Other signing? Who says there will be another, who says we’re getting Sanches.

2.) 12 Aug 2021 18:54:38
Bowen?

3.) 12 Aug 2021 18:47:50
I don’t think Sanches is as close as that Wuger mate with us still looking at others. 2 days before start of the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if we abreast have our squad with no mute incomings based on what Klopp said yesterday.

{Ed0666's Note - klopp is hardly gonna say we need players and we’re actively seeking them. This would put prices up

4.) 12 Aug 2021 19:47:28
Who says we're even getting one. I know assumptions are a midfielder and a versatile attacker, but we could go with what we got. Though another fresh face wouldn't be too bad.

5.) 12 Aug 2021 19:52:59
We are over the max squad size if we register all of our over 21s. Shaqiri leaves and we are still over. Ok, Ojo and Karius probably will not be included in the squad but even so we would still be at maximum of 25 and spending wages on two unregistered players. Any signings will need to be under 21 or at the expense of another squad member. Maybe Woodburn, Phillips or Davies? Then we are down to 8 homegrown players (the limit) unless we register an under 21 hg and take a squad place up.

I suspect Phillips in the next few days. Leaves us 6 centre backs and still some work to do before anyone can arrive at the club.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 20:12:00
Barnesybob, U21s don't count towards the max squad size. Only players who are Over 21 (either HG or non-HG) count towards the sqad. We can register as many U21s as we want in addition to the overage squad.

7.) 12 Aug 2021 20:33:20
ed0666 if it was Sanchez or nobody I would go Nobody and see how we go till January apart from Robertson we have no injuries and his is not to bad. We are going into this season stronger than when we won the league. Lovren replaced by Konate Gini Replaced by Thiago Nathaniel Clyne replaced by Neco Williams Adam Lallana replaced by Jones who was only 18 and made 5 Subs apps and 1 start and the end of the season after the league was won. Jota and Harvey Elliott not part of the squad Ox and Naby having good preseason for the first time in I don't know how long. Minamino I thought his Liverpool career was over but he joined at a very bad time for a shy lad and its been really his first proper preseason where his been away for a good few weeks with the lad and he looks a totally different player. So even if Shaq Origi and Phillips where to leave still got a lot better squad than the one that walked the league by Christmas 2 Years ago. and Salah and Mane have had there first break. only bad point is we lose players for AFCON but with only 2 league games Brentford home and Palace away fixtures could not have been much better for us.

{Ed0666's Note - mate there’s always that player none of the fans want but the club sign and I feel this is gonna be that player. I hope I’m wrong.

8.) 12 Aug 2021 21:25:07
I want Saul- we all want Saul, but if we get sanches I’m going to just go ahead and remember how impressive I first thought he was when he first appeared on the scene. I think if Saul wasn’t in the mix it might be a little easier. The possibility of him going to us or Man Utd has made it a little frustrating.

9.) 12 Aug 2021 22:08:06
Zeddicus… yeah I know. Didn’t say they do mate. We have too many over 21s.

10.) 12 Aug 2021 22:21:41
Sorry I worded my original comment poorly I think. Sorry Zed. I’ll try it again.

We currently have 28 players over the age of 21. They will need registering to play. Shaqiri leaves then we have 27. Karius, Phillips, Ojo, Origi, Woodburn all could come out of that if there were potential buyers/ clubs willing to take one on loan.

We currently have 10 homegrown players needing registering (over the age of 21). Phillips, Woodburn and Ojo are 3 of those. If they all left we are short of homegrown players. We’d have to leave a gap in the squad, so register 24 players instead. Only way round that is to sign cover/ starter who is under 21, sign a homegrown player to have a maximum squad or not sell/ loan one of them.

So really we need to let Shaqiri, Karius, Phillips and one other leave to actually be able to sign a foreign player over the age of 21. Or we could just not register someone (leave them out of the squad) . Not good for us nor the player.

11.) 12 Aug 2021 22:40:17
Sorry, my bad Bob. I read your original post as “under” 21, not “over” 21… 🙈.

12.) 12 Aug 2021 22:42:10
Btw, I think Shaqs gone and Phillips will go too. If we can’t sell Karius, we’ll loan him so at least most or all of his wages are covered, same with Ojo and possibly Woodburn, if the pre season promise is just that.

13.) 12 Aug 2021 22:49:13
If Sanchez comes in he goes to the bench.

Hendo
Fab
Thiago
Ox
Keita
Curtis
Harvey

Who or when would Renato start?

14.) 12 Aug 2021 23:05:24
Grino, I've been thinking exactly the same thing for a few weeks.

The only thing missing is the momentum we had built up and the form and full fitness of some players. It's going to be tough to win the league but in terms of squad on a player by player basis, it's better now than it was when we won week in week out until the rest of the league had given up.

15.) 13 Aug 2021 05:49:58
Think Shaq had an excellent Euro's comp n if he stays then I'm ok with that. He's worth more than Lyon are offering for sure.

16.) 13 Aug 2021 06:34:19
Just to step in. Firstly agree that Renato is neither wanted or good enough. Secondly to reply toThe Natural. The list of midfielders is easy to pick apart. Unfortunately. Hendo is possibly my favourite captain ever. But, he gives so much that he doesn’t play a full season. Add to injury list going by recent history, Ox, Keita, Fab and Thiago. Jones is already injured to miss first month of the season, before match fitness is added. Elliott is just 18. Amazing, but to put a full season of first team starts across 4 comps is a bit harsh.
I just mentioned 4 competitions. So we’d like to compete across all 4 I’m guessing? 60 games? 70? I’ve not looked into, but it’s a lot. Gini was always available. Not suggesting we can sign a player and guarantee fitness but to also suggest we don’t need anyone due to numbers isn’t right either. Out midfield is made of crocks, due to commitment and bad luck, I’d love all to stay fit and Keita to have a season like his preseasons. Add Woodburn to this.
But we do need someone like we needed another CB although you can list ours before Konate and say enough or too many. A midfielder who can be a starter like Saul, can be a first step to replace Hendo, can cover Fab and replace the underrated Gini work. Certainly needed.

17.) 13 Aug 2021 07:59:01
Jones had a minor concussion which is a fairly rare injury the game. He won’t be out for a month and -according to Juergen yesterday - he has already recovered but had to follow the protocols.

It also seems that Sanches is wanted and considered good enough, at least by the manager. Just saying.

18.) 13 Aug 2021 09:18:59
Everyone it’s Sanches with a ‘s’ - don't know why this is annoying me so much but it is.

19.) 13 Aug 2021 09:24:32
What’s to say if gini stayed he wouldn’t be injured? Just because he has a great record? Vvd played a lot of games before his injury and it’s possible that rs comes in and has a full season, it’s all if and buts .

20.) 13 Aug 2021 09:27:31
Me too, Big Virg! Think of “sandwiches” without the “dwi” 😉😂.

21.) 13 Aug 2021 11:49:36
Zed. A friendly suggestion. Avoid the constant repetition. You're beginning to sound like that guy who shall remain "un-named". We got it the first time. Surely, you're not emptied out of new material? 😜.

22.) 13 Aug 2021 12:48:07
why are we prioritizing the spelling so much? we need to recognize this isn't a big deal. ;)

23.) 13 Aug 2021 14:25:37
I thought you didn't like comedy, Ra, and bemoaned the fact that it clogged up the boards? And now you're contributing to the clogging!

Move along the bus, young Ra, nothing to see here.

24.) 13 Aug 2021 17:28:31
Sauls coming anyway lads. nailed on.

25.) 13 Aug 2021 19:07:45
Am I the only one who sees the raw talent that renato sanches has? I am certain if we signed him Klop will get the best from the kid.

{Ed025's Note - i think you are you know mate..

26.) 14 Aug 2021 08:52:26
Realistically saul was never on the cards, we don't pay them kind of wages. Sancho has always had the potential to be special but never seemed to progress. Working under klopp could be perfect for him and one thing I will say is how do all you lot not have trust in our transfer system. Its changed our team massively.

Just watched Arsenal v Burnley and you kinda get the feeling Arteta tries to direct traffic because other managers do but he looks like a sulking child. One moment of oodegard brilliance is the reason they scored, didn't do much else and Burnley should have atleast drew the game. Oh dear!

Wuger12

1.) 20 Sep 2021 16:56:10
Liverpool page?

2.) 20 Sep 2021 21:27:38
Football though.

3.) 21 Sep 2021 02:05:05
You sure Marty? Burnley and football in the same thread? To be fair Arsenal aren’t much better at the moment.

24 Aug 2021 18:33:32
That's a result for the Brazilian lads as the premier League has just announced that they're not releasing players to countries in the red zone. Will that count for afcon aswell.

Wuger12

1.) 24 Aug 2021 19:33:29
It has to for all red listed countries.

24 Aug 2021 16:57:41
Hi Eds, do you see Gordon being promoted if we don't sign anyone?

Wuger12

{Ed001's Note - he would probably be the most likely to get a chance if we were missing people, yes.}

1.) 24 Aug 2021 18:18:36
Don't you think his physique will find him wanting in the PL?

2.) 24 Aug 2021 18:30:39
He’s 16, he’ll grow. He’s got the pace and skill to get away from players, playing a tougher level of football will help him grow mentally and physically.

3.) 24 Aug 2021 18:38:01
That's what I also though about Takki but look at last season and how he was bullied of the ball at timez.

23 Aug 2021 09:20:34
Do we now need to sell origi to see an incoming player or do you think we will now buy of the back of selling Shaquiri?

Wuger12

1.) 23 Aug 2021 10:06:19
We still have too many over 21 players to add more. I personally think we need to shift at least 3 of Karius, Phillips, Ojo, Origi and Minamino before we make another signing.

2.) 23 Aug 2021 12:24:04
We must keep Minamino.

{Ed025's Note - i agree ArAy, you definitely need someone to cut the oranges at half time mate.. :)

3.) 23 Aug 2021 13:26:56
Even though you're getting your jollies Ed025, you're cruising for a bruising this coming weekend. Firmino is going to score and your "raging bull" is going to show himself to be lame kitten. 😂 (And now I'll wait for the boring "truth and nothing but the truth" riposte) .

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right ArAy, my views are just scenario,s of what could happen, it will be a close game i think mate but i am well regarded as the voice of truth and reason.. :)

4.) 23 Aug 2021 13:41:47
Ed25, you mean like James Rodriguez who is stealing 220k from your lot for playing video games all day?

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that oli, he is taking the club for a ride and not producing the goods imo...a bit like bobby actually mate..

16 Aug 2021 20:59:19
Hi Eds, is Asensio still an option or not?

Wuger12

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Hi Eds, it has been reported that Liverpool and Lyon have agreed a price of £9.5m. Is this true?

I think prices are currently going pre Neymar to PSG when they were a bit normal and sane, atleast until this C.V. complication is over which is likely to be 2-3 years.

I don't think you can base someone's play on a single game it would have to be a few games, besides which I think we twisted them and turned them inside out. But if his stats of last year in Serie A are 13 goals 4 assists, that's better than Winnie.

That's kinda the point, he's got to be worth 30million which of course helps raise money to buy someone a bit more useful.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not looking for a replacement for him.}

Klopp imo does not like footballers who are the finished article hence why he seems to greatly improve the players at his disposal. So he likes his speed and obviously thinks he can improve him to score. Personally, I would play him as the attacking midfielder, I think he'd be great at that.

I thought going forward, he looked really good, he'll certainly get loads of assists, in defence he looks very worrying. He really needs to sort out that aspect of his game.

To be honest, Sergio Augero is a much better player than Harry Kane. Grealish weakens them defensively, If Varane was as good as is made out, Madrid wouldn't let him leave and Sancho an awful starter, and the biggest plus Ollie leads them. Haha. Come on.
