Question for Ed001 or Ed002 if you are about please.
If, as I fear might happen, we are put back into Lockdown later do you think professional sport will be include as like last time? And if so, do you think it will affect transfers. I know clubs representatives and Management can work from home on the deals but will the Governing bodies allow transfers to be completed subject to medicals taking place as and when permissible?
Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - Transfers would be affected by the loss of income of the clubs more than anything else. Logistics is no an issue.}

Good morning Ed001. Just wondering what your view on Camacho is please. Rumours are going around that Wolves could be in for him which would make sense and would be a good move for him I believe as I really like their manager. He seems to prefer to be a winger and I think he scored a few the other day. I fear he would have very little chance to succeed with us given his preferred starting position which is a shame. Love to hear your views.

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to leave.}

1.) 17 Apr 2019 10:38:08
whilst it is disapointing to here that he will leave, i am expecting us to receive a decent sum for him.

i think this, along with a shift in prices, means we are actually seeing a nice return on investment for our academy.

he could of been a good player for us but we move on, we have plenty of other players coming through.

i think we need a sustainable youth team that both supplements our first team as well as bringing in an income that can help fund further youth development!

ed do you think the wolves link is merely putting Portuguese together or is there some substance?

{Ed002's Note - There is substance to two clubs being interested and one of those is Wolves.}

Sky showing apparent footage of AB at Rome airport. No idea if legit.

1.) 18 Jul 2018 19:26:13

2.) 18 Jul 2018 19:26:54
If he’s wearing Brazil gear it’s probably him returning from the World Cup.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 19:30:32

4.) 18 Jul 2018 19:31:37

Ed001 if you are about please
Great result tonight. Hoping the move is/ has gone well.
Please excuse the personal question and I apologise if I missed a post but I know some of us contributed to the go fund me initiative but hoping it helped as we all really value the site. I am one of the original (silent) visitors of this site and truly hope every is going to plan for you?

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, back in the UK and only just managed to get things sorted so I have a UK sim card so I can sort out things. But all I need to do is book my flight now (fingers crossed) as the restrictions have all been lifted. Hopefully it should be pretty much plain sailing now. Though it never seems to work out like that!}

1.) 23 Feb 2022 23:00:07
that's good news Ed.

2.) 23 Feb 2022 23:03:48
Good luck Tris. We are all wishing you well🤞.

3.) 23 Feb 2022 23:06:26

And same to the other eds who give their time to coral us passionate and opinionated fans, good things to you all.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate, it is a labour of love most of the time.}

Question for Ed 025 please if you are about. This isn't a wind up but I am interested to know what Everton fans views are on Dele being a Liverpool supporter. He even has 96 tattooed on his arm which I know will be respected from all sides.

{Ed025's Note - i like him even more now you have told me that cornish, listen him liking liverpool is no big deal mate, carra and god both supported everton but it never held them back, i believe dele could be massive for us, he needed to get away from spurs as 7 years is far too long, but its up to him now mate..

1.) 02 Feb 2022 16:21:20
He could do with a decent haircut though.

{Ed025's Note - yeah rabh, starting with cutting them red bits out for a start mate.. :)

2.) 02 Feb 2022 16:24:42
think dele alli needed out of london fullstop. Not sure if lampard is the man to turn his career around but a move up north will certainly put him on the right path in my opinion. There was certainly talk of us signing him years ago an supposedly being in the box seat as he was a liverpool fan, opting to go to spurs just goes to show that supporting a team as a child has very little bearing on a players career.

3.) 02 Feb 2022 16:37:27
respect Ed025 even he calls Fowler God.

{Ed025's Note - its purely ease of typing ox.. :)

4.) 02 Feb 2022 18:27:37
I can't see Deli coming good. He seems more interested in stupid handshakes and bad hair! Bad attitude apparently. let's see though. Hoping not 🤣🤣.

5.) 02 Feb 2022 18:28:32
Alli is a great player if Frank can put his arm round him and get him back to form. Fully capable of 15 goals a season from midfield without relying on penalties.

6.) 02 Feb 2022 19:18:25
Apparently the reason behind Everton signing Deli was that his brother bolyn would join in the summer.

{Ed025's Note - nice one ace..

7.) 02 Feb 2022 19:26:16
I am sincerely not just saying this because I’m a red or because i want Everton to fail, but i really do think the incomings of Lampard and Alli are yet another catastrophe waiting to happen. It doesn’t matter how many times poor choices are made, Everton never seem to learn.

In his time at Chelsea, for me Lampard didn’t show that he was any better or more qualified than the likes of Solskjaer and Arteta. He strikes me as a very angry and reactionary coach, often ostracising players for weeks at a time, chopping and changing the team on a whim, usually because of a bad result. It seems a very naive and amateurish approach, like he’s trying too hard to prove his genius and his authority. I had no idea what identity he wanted to stamp on the team, simply because it seemed to change it every week. I feel that this kind of management style will wind up Everton fans in a very short space of time. A very rushed appointment based on nothing tangible other than panic and desperation.

As for Alli, how many times have we been here with Everton signings. A stupid amount of money paid out of desperation for a player that has been useless for years now, disappearing so far up his own backside that his game is now unrecognisable to the player who broke through at Spurs. His attitude stinks and no amount of ‘arm round the shoulder’ is going to change that, it’s been going on for far too long. Far greater coaches than Lampard have tried and failed to reverse the slide to no avail. He’s a dead weight going nowhere fast; just like Schneiderlin, just like Iwobi, just like Rooney, just like James Rodriguez. Like Lampard, it seems predicated on desperation rather than logic.

When you put the two together, it spells disaster. A hot head ‘little man syndrome’ manager, taking on a player that could cost up to £40 million, who for all his talent thinks he’s way better than he is and hasn’t worked hard in years. I just can’t see any way that this ends well.

I admire the optimism of the Everton supporters - hell, what else are they supposed to do - but we’ve been here before. I can see this going south from a mile off. Sorry Ed025.

At least Donny van de Beek might be good!

{Ed025's Note - i think dele could eclipse DVDB AW, he went stale at spurs but there is definitely talent in there, as for the £40m that is an ongoing thing, we pay £10m after he plays 20 games then its staggered and the only way we pay the full whack is if we win the premiership and 3 champions leagues..and that could take 5 years mate.. :)

8.) 02 Feb 2022 19:32:55
Your to smart for me tonight eds25 😂.

{Ed025's Note - well i am an evertonian ace.. :)

9.) 02 Feb 2022 19:52:03
I could think of worse people than Lampard.

For what it's worth he was nowhere near good enough for Chelsea but it was convenient for them given the circumstances at the time and he was never going to say no was he?

I think you spin this move as a positive or negative however you're incline. At Chelsea he did HAVE to lean on their academy products and that did enough for them, Everton could probably do with them same while they get that state of a squad in order. All he really needs to do this season is stabilise the club and then in the summer the club as a whole needs a long hard look at itself and decide how they're going to move forward because to be blunt it's a mess and no one manager is going to sort that out.

{Ed002's Note - Frank Lampard went through the academy and gave a lot of youngsters the chance they needed. The problem at Everton will not be him - it will be the fans.}

10.) 02 Feb 2022 21:08:22
With Alli, it depends on how far up his own backside he's gone. If he's mature enough to take on board what his attitude needs to be to fulfill his undoubted potential then this could be a turning point for him.
On the other hand, if he's too full of himself and doesn't grasp the opportunity the Everton fans will be on his back and it will end in tears.
It wasn't just the situation at Spurs that needed to change, it's Alli himself that needs to change.

{Ed025's Note - i agree to a certain extent flash, but the situation we find ourselves in it could be a marriage made in heaven this space..

11.) 02 Feb 2022 21:23:41
I vaguely remember something about Deli wanting to meet Gerrard when he visited before signing, but Gerrard slept in and didn't show. Maybe that was just a rubbish story? For a few years I really regretted we didn't sign Ali, he was tearing it up for a bit.

{Ed001's Note - that is the story Dele told, so you would have to assume it was true.}

12.) 03 Feb 2022 05:19:40
Gerrard CBA HaHa.

13.) 03 Feb 2022 07:30:24
The fans are toxic. massive problem. Couple of bad results and the toys are out the pram. Really poor but I guess when all you've seen is dross and bad management it begins to grate. Oh well. 🤣.

14.) 03 Feb 2022 08:37:53
As mentioned, I think getting away from London and the SE will be good for Deli. I know a few of his mates as I used to live in Milton Keynes, he used to do a few stupid things, but hopefully getting away from them and the area will be good for him.

30 Jan 2022 07:43:40
Apparently there is a slight delay in the Diaz transfer. I was told that the medical went well, negotiations are progressing nicely but the bloody medical team forget to take a printed shirt for the photo shoot. They are desperately scouring Buenos Aires for somewhere to get a shirt printed as the lean against the wall at the AXA training centre won't happen until he returns from International duty ;-)

1.) 30 Jan 2022 08:05:09
Ah yes. The old wall lean. No transfer is complete without it.

2.) 30 Jan 2022 09:31:41
I’ve heard FSG aren’t willing to go the extra £70 for the shirt so deal is off.

3.) 30 Jan 2022 10:38:07
Sounds like sumthn the kfc lad would post on Twatter.

4.) 30 Jan 2022 12:34:05
Just me being a dick this morning Jay. Bloody alarm went off early on a Sunday - aah. Although I must say that none of the photos of him in a shirt show his name or number 23🤣🤔.

5.) 30 Jan 2022 13:03:52
Knowing yourself is probably the greatest virtue a man could have. So no need to apologize for being a dick. 😂.

24 Jan 2022 05:49:49
I think Alisson must have been reading the threads on here the other day saying sell him and replace him with Kelleher. If he plays like that every week then please carry on chaps😜.

1.) 24 Jan 2022 07:19:43
Anyone suggesting Alisson be sold, no matter how good Kelleher is, is crazy. I reckon Alisson would have saved at least one of the goals in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, especially Pulisic’s. They weren’t Kelleher’s fault but a world class keeper sometimes pulls them off. I fear that Klopp’s sentimentality towards Kelleher might just be the difference in what will be a tight Carabao Cup final.

2.) 24 Jan 2022 09:52:51
OP, was going to say the same thing.

3.) 24 Jan 2022 11:00:14
Redmersey, it's not sentimental in my opinion, it's good man management. Alisson no matter how good, is prone to missing like 10 games a season with injury.

Kelleher is arguably the best 2nd choice keeper in the league. So that combined with Ali's injury record, makes it key we keep him happy. If that means giving him every domestic cup game he's fit to play in, so be it.

4.) 24 Jan 2022 11:04:31
Fully agree, Redmersey. As for Kelleher being in goal for the EFL final, all clubs do that now with their second choice GK's. City do it with Steffen and Chelsea do it with Kepa. Also, we don't know if Klopp promised Kelleher the full EFL comp. final included and if that is the case then, Kelleher deserves his chance in the EFL final.

5.) 24 Jan 2022 12:09:55
MK and OliRed, I agree with your points about promises made and keeping a 2nd keeper happy, and am in no way underestimating how good Kelleher is. My main issue was with those wanting Alisson sold. As good as CK is, he’s not at Alisson’s level yet. Although Kovacic’s goal was a worldie, I think CK was slow repositioning himself after punching out the cross. That’s where Ali excels. Maybe I’m just desperate to win a domestic Cup again.

6.) 24 Jan 2022 12:25:47
That's like saying selling Salah and replacing him with Origi, Alisson is the best keeper about in his prime for the next 4/ 5 years, for me, unfortunately, Kelleher, like Ward, will be sold for funds.

7.) 24 Jan 2022 07:19:43
Anyone suggesting Alisson be sold, no matter how good Kelleher is, is crazy. I reckon Alisson would have saved at least one of the goals in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, especially Pulisic’s. 8.) 24 Jan 2022 13:56:38
Completely agree on that redmersey. I didn't even bother with the posts about selling Alisson. They weren't worth my energy 😂

Kelleher is good. Probably would be knocking on the door to start at most Prem clubs. But Ali is arguably the best in the world. It would be like City selling De Bruyne because Cole Palmer is half decent.

Question for Ed 001 or Ed 002 if you are about please.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I am intrigued how Ed 002 became part of Football Rumours. I am guessing most other Eds are former posters but with Ed 002's encyclopaedic knowledge there must be an interesting story behind it. I know I will probably get the the watered down version - Omnipotent Rodeo Clown that loves Cornwall, but it would be great to get the history of how he and Tris met up.

Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - I posted occasionally orginally and Ed001 asked me to sign up to edit when I have time.}

If he is a free agent in the summer, surely it won’t affect/ impact our poor relationship with Fulham?

I couldn't agree more ED002. One hell of a player there in the right team. I hear the fee isn't unrealistic either.

Ed002. Thank you for the great update and for your time in doing it. The possibility of Mane going is somewhat frightening but we will have to deal with it the best we can. With your vast knowledge of players available this transfer window, who would you suggest as a sensible replacement. Unfortunately this time I don’t think we have a capable youngster to bring through let alone an established left sided forward bar Origi who in my opinion is miles behind Mane.
Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has shown his public admiration of Sarr, Traore and for Dembele. If Mane were to leave - and keep in mind that his representatives knew he was one of three on the list of potential replacements for Messi and they have approached Barcelona - perhaps Klopp will opt for one of those if Mane were to leave.}

I struggle with Coutinho returning and gracing the Anfield turf. Equally in life we make mistakes and get our heads turned. I do forgive him for that. We plucked him from obscurity from Milan and made him the player he is/ could be. The fact that he hasn’t really done on it on the big scene suggests he is made for a club like ours. I don’t think he would fit our system now and I think we are better now than we were when he was with us. I must be getting old and sentimental but I do think there is a rotational squad place for him, but he won’t want that. He is a match winner but needs to play regularly. Maybe New Astley if they can afford him?

One of the biggest compliments you can pay Jurgen is that when he first came here he was concentrating mainly on trying to ensure CL qualification by getting as high in the league as possible which meant cup competitions were less of a priority. We have pushed MC, arguably the best team in years, and kept them on their toes. Now we are dreaming of the quadruple.
Dreading the day he decides to move on.
