Interested in how Mawson performs tonight, I think he’s one for the future and would suit us.

Believable3 Unbelievable17

22 Jan 2018 19:33:58
Yeah let’s hope he has a shocker 😄.

22 Jan 2018 20:45:10
Not so far Ron.

22 Jan 2018 20:46:11
Andddd he’s scored.

22 Jan 2018 20:47:49
Funny it's him that scored. Oh the irony.

22 Jan 2018 20:51:25
He’s a decent player who can only get better but some of the football ignoramuses on here wouldn’t know a footballer if they fell over one.

22 Jan 2018 21:46:39
I just knew this would happen tonight lfc can be predictable at times and new manager at Swansea was icing on cake . We could play for another 3 hrs and not hit a barn door with a dart.

22 Jan 2018 21:55:58
I would swap him for Matip any day of the week .

22 Jan 2018 22:20:06
Alfie Mawson man of the match. I rest my case.

22 Jan 2018 22:09:06
Omg have you just heard yourself.

22 Jan 2018 22:09:47
could have got a late goal, should have scored, but that loss has set us back, and its not good, Swansea had a very good game plan, and deserved to win, some, or a lot of our players were only worth a six out of ten .

22 Jan 2018 22:15:53
Is there anybody who still comes on this site, still agree that we should be keeping
CAN, he is not the quality we need and he most definitely shouldn’t be captain. a poor poor player, he has got the turning circle of a juggernaut.

22 Jan 2018 22:37:06
I’m sorry but I’m a game that any other day we could have won I wouldn’t sin the lad in it, a well taken but fluke goal doesn’t warrant signing him, with have Gomez who’s young to fill in. Frustrating game, too much time wasting, should have been 45 minutes added not 4, Salah looked a bit jaded he's plays so much would rather Solanke come on instead of bigs as he offers something different. Any other day we would have won that but day we just lacked that bit of luck (which swans got) and that bit of magic. A bit embarrassing but still spurs arsenal and even Chelsea have nothing on us, I would have included United in that but signing Sanchez is a statement. Didn’t agree with Klopp a subs tonight though, agree with Lallana coming on but for gini not AOC. Three points thrown away but a one off I feel, spurs fans will be piddling their pants but think the top four right now is how it will end jusy the order may change, good night reds disappointing result but we n to the next one.

22 Jan 2018 22:47:17
we really did lack something in midfield, and only came to life in the last ten mins, the fact is, that loss is a huge set back .

22 Jan 2018 23:17:31
We probably needed to get the obligatory shocker performance out of the way before spurs and CL. Put it to bed we're still 4th. Can is pants and is in the same pants bracket as migs, move on pls. For you Mawson lovers out there, get a grip.

22 Jan 2018 23:47:16
Mawson had a game where he was hardly tested as they stuck so many men behind the ball. Not convinced myself. As for Can, there is literally no one else in our squad who can play midfield anchor. We are shockingly weak in the middle of the park.

23 Jan 2018 00:06:02
Onwards and sideways apparently. lol

Fabianski had a great game tonight.

We had 8 days rest but looked tired in the 1st half.

Its happpened before on International breaks, we seem to lose all momentum. We need to play twice a week.

23 Jan 2018 00:29:15
Fabianski was hardly tested.

22 Jan 2018 19:06:22
Will be interesting to see how Alfie Mawson plays against us tonight. I rate him and think he has a good future, and he’s quite vocal as well, which we have been lacking.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

22 Jan 2018 19:14:44
And we've just spent 75 mil to address that 😉.

22 Jan 2018 19:17:30
Just sent in the same point haha!

22 Jan 2018 19:30:44
Yes Argy,
I logged on to see if my post was there and started reading yours and thought it was mine.

I know we have signed Van Dijk but there are question marks against the other 3 and Gomez may not be ready yet.

22 Jan 2018 19:50:59
By that Gomez logic, how on earth is Mawson more ready? If we are to sign another CB it needs to be another one of true quality. Gomez is our potential CB, Mawson would only block his path without adding to our quality.

22 Jan 2018 20:58:58
Have you watched Gomez tonight? Every game he dives in or commits himself and gives the ball away for fun. Gomez is light years away from playing centre back and if Mawson came here he certainly wouldn’t be blocking Gomez’s path. It would be up to Gomez to up his game if he wants his place.

He’d been so poor defending and attacking on the first half I’d bring TAA on straight away.

22 Jan 2018 21:11:38
To be fair, Klavy, VVD is the vocal defender we have been missing. Two of them could get confusing, especially if they don't agree!

22 Jan 2018 21:58:28
Goalkeeper needed!

22 Jan 2018 22:03:05
So we should just bin the Gomez experiment then, right? Alfie Mawson may be a good player BUT we cannot on one hand say, we should give our young boys a chance and on the other side say, we should bring in players who IMO, have less ability than him as he is the total package as a defender. Mawson is not.

22 Jan 2018 22:21:41
only thing is, Gomez, while playing well, has been caught out four or five times now, and we have conceded goals, let's be fair here, if that was moreno, we would be all be having a go at the loss of concentration,
every point is vital, and 2nd place seems far away now,
Swansea had a better game plan .

22 Jan 2018 22:14:44
Time to give Gomez a rest, he is making far too many errors, maybe TAA would make a difference, on their goal, bad marking, and we had players actually moving away from our goal while the ball was still alive .

23 Jan 2018 01:56:10
agree, I think Gomez needs a rest and probably needs some time as CB, he does okay as a full back but his end product was really poor tonight. he tried to hit a few first time balls in when he had plenty of time to find team mates and just gave it back to them. I only watched about half the game but he did it at least 4 times whilst I was watching.

22 Jan 2018 18:51:06
Eds,

Just a young one but any truth in the reports of interest in Ezri Konsa of Charlton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes if you are an Everton fan.}

22 Jan 2018 21:11:57
Quick rename to Imblue?

22 Jan 2018 18:21:27
Time for Liverpool to step up and take advantage of points dropped. YNWA.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2018 18:51:55
They will Ford. 4-0 and straight to 3rd place.

22 Jan 2018 19:17:26
Question is, do Swansea go at us in desperation for points, or do they sit back and play for a "Big Sam point?

22 Jan 2018 19:42:27
2-2 Tonight imo.

22 Jan 2018 20:01:07
Got money on 4.0 so hope so fella ;)

22 Jan 2018 22:03:42
Well that went south really fast, didn' it?

22 Jan 2018 22:03:42
well, all this 3 nil, 4 nil sounds funny now, yes, we were very unlucky not to score at the end,
but the truth is, we lost that game in the first half,
so slow, way too many passes not going anywhere, slow tempo is not good for at all,
any man of the match has to go to a Swansea player, Klopp out thought once again, Salah guilty once again,
thought Gomez had some poor moments, once again,
too many players content on just passing to someone else, they fought and wanted the ball more than us .
an this game, I won't be talking about 2nd place,
I won't be talking about winning any Cup .

22 Jan 2018 22:11:57
All you 4 nil 3 nil lot I think you need to get off the play stations.

23 Jan 2018 03:35:15
A midfield of Can, Wijinaldum and Oxlaide-Chamberlain isn't going to cut it against a team intent on defending where you need a player to unlock the defence. Wijinaldum is the weak link but we have no one else in the team to play there - the club will regret not replacing Coutinho.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree whole-friggen-heartedly

22 Jan 2018 16:38:24
Hi Eds,

Trivial question, but something I'm sure you are able to explain. Whilst all public conversations talk about how much players earn per week, do footballers generally get paid per week? or is it per month like many other occupations today? or something differently entirely?

Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Actually a good question. At one time players were only paid during the season and not in the summer, and for some smaller clubs that is still true. For most, but not all, sides the wages are now paid monthly over the year but you don’t need to go too far back to find weekly wages being paid.}

22 Jan 2018 19:29:50
Insightful as ever Ed002,
gracias.

{Ed002's Note - Think back also to when football players had summer jobs - playing county cricket, bus conductor etc.}

22 Jan 2018 20:01:45
On that point; do they pay tax like a paye employee or do they have their own international companies who get the cash and help minimise tax?

{Ed002's Note - After “expenses” they pay tax. Remind me in a day or two about some of the approaches taken in the past, and I will tell (nearly) all.}

22 Jan 2018 20:23:57
I always wondered if players got as excited as us normal folk when the open up their payslips each week/ month.
“Ooooh! They paid me for 10 goals instead of the 9 I actually scored! Ssssh. ”.

22 Jan 2018 21:12:32
Really good question. I'm sure its been monthly for at least 10 years if not more? I remember when Riise's payslip was photographed and published a few years back, showing a monthly net amount. Even then was pretty decent, albeit not in the league of a Rodeo Clown ;)

22 Jan 2018 21:13:35
Are they employees of the club or self employed? And what ever the answer is is the case for all teams?

Thanks for your reply :)

{Ed002's Note - employees.}

22 Jan 2018 22:00:39
Thanks.

22 Jan 2018 15:18:11
I can't fault Ed002 for always telling us as it is. I remember very clearly how he laid it out a year or more in advance that a certain Phil wanted to bail out. The rest is history.
Now, Salah. This is very sad indeed! How can we sustain a title challenge in this kind of climate? The problem is that the news these days are not subtle at all. It seems everyone in Egyptian football are propagating it. This must be fun for Real Madrid; they don't even need to turn the screw at all!
Ed002, I know you hate questions about timing, but what is your guess when this will happen? Because it seems like Coutinho all over again; a matter of when, not whether it will happen.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - They may we’ll make an offer this season but Liverpool will resist selling. There is another matter that could potentially put a spanner in the works in respect of a contract.}

22 Jan 2018 18:33:16
Would you possibly be able to shed any light on this "other matter" Ed? Don't worry if not!

{Ed002's Note - I would rather not, it will only upset people.}

22 Jan 2018 18:46:48
You do ask for trouble Mr Ed002 🤔😉😄✌.

22 Jan 2018 18:46:55
Unless its a clause stating he can go on the cheap to Madrid im not that bothered. if he goes in the summer it would be for crazy money, more than Coutinho and unlike in the past, we have a manager capable of spending the money wisely.

22 Jan 2018 22:05:12
I'm not even bothered anymore, Ed. If Salah wants to force a move, let him go PROVIDED we stick his suitors for every penny we can milk from them.

22 Jan 2018 22:56:57
the thing is, when we do sell one of our best players, it just might be a good idea, to replace him, in the same window, they say that many a game is won or lost in midfield,
we really missed Couts tonight, I am hoping that Lallana has now got his place in the side, we were very short and slow first half .

22 Jan 2018 17:38:16
Looking forward to seeing Virgil tonight (assuming he plays) Will be nice to see him being vocal, and marshalling the defence. What with Phil leaving and the transfer shop-fest distractions, it will be nice to see how our new signing is working out. Good luck tonight boys.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2018 18:51:33
Let's hope he does well and we can keep a clean tomato.

22 Jan 2018 19:36:44
A clean tomato? 🍅.

22 Jan 2018 20:44:17
Stupid phone I ment sheet.

22 Jan 2018 21:13:28
I don't care if the tomato is dirty.

As long as its not square ;) :P.

22 Jan 2018 16:15:58
Hi eds.
have you ever done a player profile on Richarlson of Watford? Or have an opinion on him?
Ta.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not done one yet, but I will hopefully do one soon.}

22 Jan 2018 15:37:33
We have allegedly shown interest in the signing of Kwang-Song Han from Cagliari, according to Calciomercato. He's a North Korean U-19 international has been impressive on loan at Serie B side Perugia, netting 7 goals and providing 3 more for his teammmates in 17 appearances so far this season.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

22 Jan 2018 15:48:19
I’m sure this could be a good boost for us in the North Korean market.

22 Jan 2018 15:53:32
Are you sure those are his real stats?

I'm pretty sure most North Koreans think they won the world cup the other year still 😂.

22 Jan 2018 15:55:43
There would be something glorious about Kim Jong un starting to support us if we signed a North Korean player. Maybe threatening to nuke old Trafford?

22 Jan 2018 16:12:29
lol. Thanks for putting a smile on my face lads! Brilliant.

22 Jan 2018 17:47:35
Waste of a nuke, pigeons fly upside down over old Trafford now because there's nothing worth shitting on.

22 Jan 2018 18:02:42
Kim Jong Un would definitely get in Liverpools side based on his crazy hair style alone hey Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - That missing DM player.}

22 Jan 2018 18:23:14
Quality Livered.

22 Jan 2018 15:25:02
Ed001 or fellow Reds, do you know if TAA will start ahead of Gomez today?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

22 Jan 2018 16:55:06
Maybe West Brom in the cup.

22 Jan 2018 19:06:00
I can see a couple of changes for the Cup game, and why not .

22 Jan 2018 22:37:01
Based on the Swansea game, TAA and Lallana deserve to start the Cup game, and I hope that we speed up the play, cos west brom will sit back a lot and hit us on the break, and make the most of any set piece, its going to be another hard game . could end up another draw .

22 Jan 2018 14:53:02
Sturridge is not injured, but not in the match day squad. Apparently he wants to go to Seville, hence not being in contention for tonight.

I hope he gets to move, ideally to a less physical and warmer climate, it may suit him.

Good luck to the lad.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2018 14:56:13
I hate physical climates 😉

I agree though mate. It'll do him good.

22 Jan 2018 15:09:15
I'm pretty sure he speaks Spanish. Probably why he wants to go to Sevilla over Inter!

22 Jan 2018 15:30:16
Personally I think releasing Sturridge for a loan leaves us short up front in back up to RF.

I know he wants to find a WC place and get regular game time and my view may seem selfish but the club should come first and we’ve been paying him a good wage for a number of years, he has a contract and should play his role in our season left to play with a reassessment in the summer.

In the summer I would grant him the move if he wants it.

{Ed001's Note - whereas I think we would be better off using a kid than him unless he is going to play regularly, as he will never be useful as a bit part. Let the lad go.}

22 Jan 2018 15:34:35
If he does go, hope it works out for him. Always felt bad really as he seems to be made of glass :C and doesn't look to be in jurgen's plans. Hope he rips it up in Espana!

22 Jan 2018 15:39:54
Sevilla are not interested in him according to Balague.

22 Jan 2018 15:58:21
Question is can solanke and ings step up if sturridge leaves? No way can firmino play every game for the rest of the season, the way he plays. Solanke badly needs a goal, I think we'll see a different player when he finally gets it.

22 Jan 2018 16:12:30
Ed we won't sell both Studge and Ings in January though will we?

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it.}

22 Jan 2018 16:48:36
The only thing I feel bad about is he left without a medal but that's everyone's fault.

22 Jan 2018 16:54:55
I'd be gutted to see him go, just going on the past though unfortunately. I know it's the best thing for himself and for the club. I'm sure he'd do well over at Sevilla.

22 Jan 2018 17:38:17
Too lazy not willing to change his game style let him go.

22 Jan 2018 17:38:32
Best of both worlds. Shame to see it happen but it's been kinda overdue. I agree that solanke needs a goal and once that happens I won't be worried about our lack of striking depth.

22 Jan 2018 12:58:07
What sad news that Jimmy Armfield has passed away.
A very knowledgable football man and it was always a pleasure to listen to him on the radio.
He never had a bad word to say about anyone but he was always warm and gracious about Liverpool, and Everton too actually.
RIP.

Believable19 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2018 16:29:00
I loved him on the radio. Rip.

22 Jan 2018 12:44:27
Hi Eds,
Everyone names players, But do you have any info if website actively looking at players. You don't need to name names, as klopp has already stated we've signed our "top player" in this window.
Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts, try the Sharkopod.}

22 Jan 2018 12:46:27
On the subject of motivating millionaire footballers.

I don't mind that they want to play for money, Or that they want to play in the best competition in the world. What i do mind is that they expect it all to be handed to them on a plate.

If i was in charge of a team like that id say ok boys we're not playing till Monday so i expect you all here at 8 in the morning on Saturday. Then take them to go watch for example a under 10's grassroots game and remind them that used to be them.

How all they ever wanted to do was play football because they loved it so much and how they would give anything to be professional one day. Bring out that kid in them who wanted to be the best, run the most who never wanted to quit, remind them there current attitude is turning there back on everything they stood for as a child.

just my opinion.

Believable16 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2018 12:50:11
Very good post and a great point. Couldn't agree more.

22 Jan 2018 12:57:42
cracking post and well put together.

22 Jan 2018 13:03:26
Most people are not performing at their optimum ability at 7.45pm. I would suggest a better use of their Saturday and Sunday would be to get them into a sleeping pattern that will have them performing at their optimum level for the senior game.

22 Jan 2018 13:56:50
hjikle if there not playing on the saturday i see no harm in them being awake at that time, also that's not strictly true as a lot of body builders prefer to wake up at 4 and train at 5 in the morning. so id suggest go bed earlier so that you get your 8 hours.

22 Jan 2018 14:12:20
great post mate.

22 Jan 2018 15:35:37
Top post!

22 Jan 2018 16:10:05
Scarry - did you actually read my post or did you just scan? If you're daily pattern is waking at 8am, you're not going to be at your peak at 7.45pm. It is difficult and inadvisable to try and alter your sleeping pattern in one night - it's much easier and better for you to do it over a few days. So if you want to be at your peak at 7.45pm on Monday night, being awake at 6am and standing out in the cold at 8am is not a smart thing to do. If those body builders you mentioned were to decide to switch their main workouts to later in the day, they wouldn't just keep waking up at 4 or 5am because then they wouldn't be at their peak for their exercise time.

There is no universe where making athletes get up early in the morning in the run up to a late evening game in order to try and force some nostalgic experience is a good idea. If they aren't fully motivated to do their job in the first place they shouldn't be anywhere near the team and if they are going to be interacting with the youth squad, they should be doing it at a time when their knowledge and experience might be of some use to the youth players rather than just standing around watching them.

22 Jan 2018 16:28:23
hjikle did you even read my post, i said they should A - watch grassroots to remind them of how much they loved the game and not expect everything to be handed to them on a plate, i litterally don't care if they at optimal performance just watching a game and B - i mentioned they watch on a day they are NOT playing themselfes, maybe before making a point you should read what i put. i explained to do this on a day they are not needed to perform nor are they there to help the kids, they are there as a kick up the a*** to remind them how fortunate they are and to give 110% every time they play/ train.

22 Jan 2018 12:21:28
Eds, all the talk of a Coutinho replacement has gone away for the time-being, remember Lanzini and more recently 'James' from Bayern (madrid L) being linked. However surprised Nabil Fekir hasn't been linked to us as of yet or Max Arnold, both performing well in their respective leagues and have been for the past couple of seasons.

Now obviously i am just name dropping and i haven't seen any links to these prior, just curious as to if you fella's in the know might of heard something?

On a separate note, i know i'm peppering you with questions, but i'm seeing a lot of negativity directed towards Lallana, now i got to Anfield frequently, last season he was immense, so far off the little game time i've seen him play he hasn't looked to bad, still the most technically gifted player in our squad. When we attack he's always fasted on the turn to direct the attack and always wants ball to feet. I think if he was to go he'd be a very pricey an difficult player to replace. thoughts?

(dont be too brutal in the response guys)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - something about what? Do you mean general links to those players or specifically us? Or are you asking about genuine interest rather than media links and, in which case, do you mean interest from us or general interest?

Lallana is hardly that difficult to replace considering how little he has played so far this season (200min) and yet we have been a lot better than when he was playing last season. Suggests to me he has been pretty much replaced already and he needs to show that he deserves to be kept. On his day he is a fantastic, technical footballer, but he is not likely to be first choice next season unless he plays at his best every week.}

22 Jan 2018 13:01:07
I think Lallana much like Sturridge and maybe even Henderson has been injured quite a lot recently and the team has just carried on and been much better without them in it
which is unlucky for them and to get back in it much like Ed001 said they would pretty much need to be playing at there peak powers every week to warrant a place in the first 11.

22 Jan 2018 14:18:35
Hopefully we will never be linked with Arnold ever. This guy could play for a bottom table side but doesn't have to closest ability to either play for liverpool or strenghten the squad in any part.

22 Jan 2018 15:21:38
Arnold is a quality player. I've kept an eye out for him for 4 years now and he is certainly good enough to play in our side.

Not only is he a set piece specialist, but he is lethal from anywhere inside 35 yards on that left foot of his. He is the dictator in Wolfsburgs midfield at just 23 years old.

If you doubt his ability to play at a higher level, i suggest you look back to when Kevin De Bruyne was there, and the two of them caused carnage. One year they ran Bayern close for the title. Sadly for Arnold, his star team mates have all been poached. He easily has the quality to step up a level though. He hits the ball so clean and his passing is so ambitious out from the back.

He reminds me a bit of a young Xabi Alonso, before Xabi had nailed the defensive side of the game. Whether or not he ever hits the heights Xabi did is another thing entirely though. Alonso improved in so many aspects by so much, and i think you have to put that down to the top class coaches he worked with; Rafa, Del Bosque, Mourinho and Guardiola. At 23 years old it is way too early to write Max Arnold off though. So many players don't really fulfil their potential until 25-27 years old, and under a top coach with quality players around him, he could thrive.

22 Jan 2018 08:44:43
Lemar.

This one's for ed001.

We had a discussion last week about lemar and I promised I would watch him again.

I thought he had a poor game last week and you felt I was making a knee jerk reaction and rightly so.

As promised I watched him again this weekend.

And once again I have failed to be impressed.

Now don't get me wrong he played decent/ ok.

But for a player who is valued at 90m I saw nothing in his performance to suggest the fees talked about representing any kind of value.

Just my opinion. I by far prefer chamberlain and trust klopp when he says we need to developer the players at the club first. Also with the time and patience I think Woodburn should be given a chance before spending 90m on lemar. That is just my opinion and everyone will have theirs.

Now by all accounts lemar has not had a particularly good season. A lot of people are saying that the them was torn apart etc etc. But surely if you are the star attraction in the team you need to be stepping up.

I will watch him again but I am certain I will not be seeing a £90m performance from him.

I also. watched roma and loved a
How allyson was so vocal with his back 4.

Onto the third game.

Believable9 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - ok.}

22 Jan 2018 08:54:18
He's a £40mil player in my opinion but you can't fault Monaco for trying to get all they can.

I agree with you here Ravi but I feel Lamar can add that quality to our team. He is a potential world class player in the making. But time well tell and chamberlain is coming along good let’s hope he builds on this and makes a re start of his player career.

Also I feel Karius needs to be given a lot more then 6 Mo the we gave Simon 4 years and he is still not good so give this one at least one year.

22 Jan 2018 09:03:21
I agree, rubbish.

22 Jan 2018 09:45:27
I really like Ox but I think he can do with improving his ball striking, it’s one of the notable things Coutinho brought to the side vs someone like Ox or Lallana in the attacking midfield role, and Lemar would certainly add something there even if I agree maybe not a 90m player.

Hopefully Keita will also help there, as Gini/ Milner have similar problems scoring from distance, which is why I’ve always preferred Hendo in that position when fit.

22 Jan 2018 09:56:00
Everyone said the same when we signed Salah and Chamberlain. How wrong we were as fans at least on Salah.

I've watched french league for 3 years and Lemar would improve our squad and first 11. Is he worth 90mill? No. But was Coutinho worth 142mill? No. But both players would improve our first 11.

Don't know why we are worried tho. Lemar will prob be off to Arsenal or Barca.

22 Jan 2018 10:48:44
He’s not really tested playing in France IMO,

22 Jan 2018 11:04:04
Never mind lemar forget him, this fekir guy is who we should b after.

22 Jan 2018 11:49:20
Maybe Last season he played better because Monaco was fighting for the title had a better a team and this season they sold Bakayoko, Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Germain. They were key players its like we hope Firmino to play next season like this one if we sell Mane and Salah.

22 Jan 2018 12:10:31
Amazing that when he looked nailed on to sign he was the perfect replacement for Coutinho and everyone was demanding FSG pay whatever it takes.

Now there is one unsubstantiated rumour that he wants to go to Barcelona, he's a terrible player 😂

Nobody here has a clue what Monaco asked for. It does seem that whatever it is, Liverpool won't pay it (at least not this month), but at the end of the day he is worth whatever Monaco decide he is worth to them. If nobody wants to compensate them for how much that is, then they will not sell.

Of all the player we've looked at, he is the best. For that reason alone, i hope we can sign him.

22 Jan 2018 12:14:46
for the record, 2 games watching him is still knee jerk, and a match by match update of your opinion isn't all too useful until you've seen him play for months consistently.

you also need to bear in mind you're watching a player who isn't playing at full capacity in a team that is struggling after selling most of it's best players over the last 12 months - mbappe, bernardo silva, bakayoko, mendy.

if you had never seen alexis sanchez before and decided to start watching him recently, you'd wonder what on earth utd are thinking paying him 350k a week.

22 Jan 2018 13:42:17
Can’t remember who said it - Shanks or Paisley - but he said ‘if you need to watch a player twice to see how good he is, then he’s not good enough’.

{Ed002's Note - That is a particularly stupid thing to say.}

22 Jan 2018 13:44:19
completely agree Ravi. I have tried to say this about Lemar but all you get is thumbs down. I honestly don't believe people have watched him play. They see the 90mil price tag and assume he must be world class. I would rather have Ox in midfield and Martins is far better further forward.

22 Jan 2018 08:35:08
WS gave Marco Grujic a 7.36 Rating for his 78 minute Cardiff debut. 4 aerial duels won, 2 shots on goal and 1 yellow card. Very promising. Next up, a match-winning performance vs Man City followed by a promotion push. Would love to see him really fulfill his potential.

22 Jan 2018 08:41:28
His discipline needs a bit of work, he seems to get a yellow card every game no matter how long he plays. Either way, a string of games should help him develop.

22 Jan 2018 08:55:03
He got an early yellow which curtailed him a little.

22 Jan 2018 06:32:41
Am I the only one nervous about the Swansea game tonight? Remembering Bournemouth Sunderland and Hull from same time last season.

Believable12 Unbelievable13

22 Jan 2018 07:18:46
Key word there LAST SEASON, hope the players don’t have the same attitude as most of our fans as klopp said from the start we need to belive again.

22 Jan 2018 07:18:54
i have a good feeling about tonight, an early goal and we win 3/ 4-0.

22 Jan 2018 07:40:41
We’ll smash them. 4-0.

22 Jan 2018 08:42:50
Once one goal goes in then there's no looking back. All they can do is sit deep and defend in numbers. An early goal like last time against them and this should be a comfortable win.

22 Jan 2018 08:45:18
The way we are playing and the run we are on? I would be disappointed if we didn't win.

22 Jan 2018 09:07:49
PakRed. I am nervous also mate. Its one of them horrible games were they are fighting for there lifes and sooner than later they wikl start to win games. They have been better in there last 4 or 5 games. We need to be on it tonight and will be a very tight game imo.

22 Jan 2018 09:11:49
3 pts and no injuries it's all I want!

22 Jan 2018 09:38:23
It doesn't matter who we play, nerves kick in. We are in the strongest league in the world, just because Swansea are bottom of the league doesn't mean they can't get a result tonight.

22 Jan 2018 10:36:44
I got a feeling we will get a draw. The players will try but we won't be strong enough to break them down. I think this is a 0-0.

22 Jan 2018 10:51:08
New manager is always tricky. We don’t know how he prefers to set his team up, players always get a bit of a bounce under a new manager, subs have something to prove to a new manager.

This won’t be an easy game for the reds but if we score a first half goal then we will be comfortable. 3-0 to reds.

22 Jan 2018 11:50:47
The difference will be Van Dijk.

22 Jan 2018 12:21:25
Another 7-0 for the boys.

22 Jan 2018 12:47:41
boys respect your opponent and its good to be nervous in this way we would not be overconfident with our self.

22 Jan 2018 16:20:19
It's defiantly a potential banana skin! Not really bothered about the performance, 3 points and on to the next.

0-5 Liverpool.

Hope you're right about Bobby Ed. I've got him as my fantasy football captain this week because he always seems to score against Swansea!

22 Jan 2018 08:14:46
I feel dirty for captaining aguero but he bagged 3.

22 Jan 2018 10:26:12
Don't worry Den82, i had Sterling as my vice captain because i fancied City so much! Looks like he's still having nightmares about Andy though.

22 Jan 2018 12:41:24
thanks ed may I ask why you don't make a prediction yourself?

{Ed001's Note - it's bad luck.}

Stevie wonder could have seen that Rooney and Gylfi can’t play in the same team. Can’t believe it took big Sam 11 games to figure that out.

22 Jan 2018 10:07:33
If that's not dedication/ passion I don't know what is, Edwards still playing despite knowing he has cancer. Some of the 'top' stars should take a leaf out of his book. ' I stubbed my toe, sorry going to be out for this game'.

Good read Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - thank you, though he is no longer allowed to play as he had an op.}

22 Jan 2018 10:14:04
Let's hope the lad pulls through it, poor bugger at that age? life is cruel at times.

22 Jan 2018 11:20:12
Did ed25 dislike my post? Lol.

{Ed025's Note - i did swish and we have been saying the same all along, stevie wonder would fit in well with our back four as well mate..

21 Jan 2018 21:50:01
New poster after following the site for ages now, love it by the way guys!

A Question for ED01- I'm interested on your opinion of Micky Thomas as a player. I remember watching him put away that winner in '89 as an 8 year old, first football heart break.

He obviously went on to spend 7 years at the club and featured in the 'Spice Boys' era. I was young
and mainly interested in Fowler, so to be honest didn't notice what he brought to the side.

Keep up the good work.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Thomas shunned the limelight, I only really remember him as very quiet and shy as I was never able to forgive him for that goal. Each time I heard his name announced or saw him play, I just saw that goal again in my head. Shame because he did genuinely give his all every time he played.}

22 Jan 2018 03:51:18
He scored a brilliant goal in the 92 FA Cup final.

22 Jan 2018 07:20:58
That made me laugh
And then cry.
Mickey Thomas for me isn’t the player who scored late for arsenal and then scored in the FA Cup final for us.

It’s the little welsh dude who had black curly hair and knocked Arsenal out of the FA cup with a stunning free kick for Wrexham.

Feeling old.

22 Jan 2018 08:11:16
Same here Aggerdo. Different player to Michael Thomas 😁.

22 Jan 2018 11:26:18
He hadn’t had curly hair for ages but was on the Welsh football scene for a long time and I think still is. Did a stretch for being involved with forged currency which led to very funny fake fivers circulating labelled ‘Bank of Micky Thomas’. Michael Thomas was always Michael Thomas and a good player. Nice guy too.

22 Jan 2018 13:30:38
For me, I started to accept Michael Thomas in that cup run in 92. He scored the winning goal against Villa and, from then on, despite not being a guaranteed starter, was always reliable and ready to give his all for the cause. Good pro in my opinion.
