Ed’s but random but are transfers always done in person or does it start with a phone call? I know it’s a useless question but as ed02 stated the other day about teams meeting in London to discuss Malcom and we were not one of them (I’m not suggesting we are with the question, just asking if it is possible a side just picks up the phone and gets put through to relevant powers) or is it a case if they all send a representative and they wait outside an office to be Called in one by one like an interview?

johnbarnesleftpeg

{Ed002's Note - The meeting in London with the two interested clubs was arranged to discuss whether he would be interested in a move and the fee that Bordeaux would want. As a result of this, one of the teams backed away as they thought the asking price way too high. The other needs to decide know if they are going to look to an offer for the player.

The transfer process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.

Alternatively, a selling club may ask an agent to find a new club for a player and he will talk directly to poetntial selling sides about the fee, personal terms and interest.

The rest of the time agents will be on fishing trips trying to find interest in their players.}

Wow, interesting. Thanks Editor #2.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 17 Jan 2018 12:20:07
Ed002 top quality info.

Thanks.

3.) 17 Jan 2018 13:50:27
In relation to your response ed 2. Mr souness said after the man city game that every transfer has an element of tapping up.

{Ed002's Note - What is he trying to do - protect the club at the bottom of the pile and the worst offender in Klopp who will look to cheat at every chance he gets - the club already serving a transfer ban who tried ruin the career of a 12 year old boy and drove his parents in to debt and then were allowed to buy there way out of a court case?

It is absolutely pitiful that you want the troll this post and again bring it up. How about the written warnings Liverpool had last season and the complaint that is still onfile with the Premier League - did he mention those?}

4.) 17 Jan 2018 17:57:06
Why do you get so angry about it? It is true that it happens all the time and yes Klopp may be the worst but damn, the anger lol.

{Ed002's Note - Because I don't like cheating and what was done to a 12 year old is completely unforgivable - and the subsequent lies to the investigation. But for some reason - presumably to try and make it look like Liverpool are not the most unprofessional club in Europe - the idiot wanted to bring it up again. You may see it as OK to fuck with peoples lives and drive his parents in to debt, to lie to the FA investigation in order to try and avoid something show-stopping coming out in court, but I don't.}

5.) 17 Jan 2018 21:55:16
I don't think. it's nice to mess with people's lives but, I also think it takes two to tango.

6.) 17 Jan 2018 23:19:47
Hi Ed, first time posting but love the site.

Are you able to explain what you mean by klopp cheating at every chance he gets?

Not disagreeing just curious as bar the VVD/ blackpool incident this was the first I had heard of it.

Thanks.

Another prem draw for us! Howard Webb F. C. handed another nice easy draw but hey ho we should beat West Brom.

johnbarnesleftpeg

1.) 08 Jan 2018 20:13:11
Got to beat top flight opponents at some point if you’re going to win it.

2.) 08 Jan 2018 20:14:11
I’d rather play WBA at home than Yeovil away.

3.) 08 Jan 2018 20:24:48
I agree Smeg Head, would make us take the match more seriously.

4.) 08 Jan 2018 21:38:17
Least you guys can win the West Brom cup again, only thing you've won under Klipperty isn't it? 👋🏻.

5.) 08 Jan 2018 21:48:19
Bored are we?

6.) 08 Jan 2018 22:14:41
scholes, think you are being a bit forgetful, think there is a name for that, ask Conte.

7.) 08 Jan 2018 22:16:02
No Woollyback, just like paying the Liverpool page a visit to see the delusion your fans spout, very amusing i must say!

8.) 08 Jan 2018 22:54:13
no scholes, we haven't actually won that one.

Sad to see Coutinho go as he is a quality player and we’ve seen him grow up, his game improve and Jt would have been a nice story if it continued but ah well thins happen. We gained a lot of money for him so all parties win. I wish him all the luck unless they come up against us. This doesn’t feel like the Suárez move in very optimistic, got a great defender in we have Keita coming in the summer, getting linked with other good players, we still have allah Salah! Optimistic as long as the money can be spent but not thrown about it panic as I don’t think this weakens is too much regardless of his talent.

VVD must be thinking who’s ass will I be saving each week? I’d rather Klavan than one of the other two jokes. Yet again we hand a goal away. Still plenty of time to. Come back.

johnbarnesleftpeg

1.) 30 Dec 2017 15:55:09
Why the hell bring Matip back into the team. I trust Klopp as much as anyone, but that was a terrible decision.

Klavan was excellent whilst Matip was injured! Deary me, hurry up January 2nd. VVD can't be any worse than Matip. He is the worst centre back I've seen at Liverpool since I've been following them (2005).

He makes me miss Kyriakgos. No heart, lazy on the ball, even lazier off it, weaker than American beer, and just an all around liability. He's literally given Leicester's game plan the perfect start.

2.) 30 Dec 2017 16:00:37
Lovren has done okay though.

3.) 30 Dec 2017 16:05:11
You know, I can't disagree, MK.

And the worst part is Matip could be the best center back at the club currently if he put more into it. Except instead, he spends most of his time strolling around the place like Balotelli on horse tranquilisers.

Cannot stand lazy players.

4.) 30 Dec 2017 16:59:39
Maybe Klavan looked tired MK? I don’t know but from what I gather from Klopp he won’t hang anybody it to dry? Due to poor performance anyway, he may open his mouth and get himself into trouble but He seems to want to protect players.

In all honesty the defence weren’t woeful but again doue to a silly mistake we cost a goal. Other teams defenders make a mistake and give a way a chance but with us it seems to lead to a goal every time. Hopefully in the not too distant future we’ll see a TAA/ Gomez/ VVD (eithe rleft back) combo!

5.) 30 Dec 2017 19:32:42
How anybody can make that statement when lovren is next to him is quite frankly staggering. Matip is poor agreed, but lovren is one of the worst CB I've ever seen and I'm including ruddock tanner and traore in that, he's made umpteen horrendous decisions and most have led to goals for the opposition.

As I've said before I think he's uncoachable and has no positional sense ball watches constantly, is rash and at times makes mistakes a 7 year old would be embarrassed about, his next mistake is just around the corner mark my words and I'm hoping and praying it's not going to be pivotal in an important game.

6.) 30 Dec 2017 22:52:48
We can say what we want about Traore, he still made that goal line clearance in Istanbul so that's good enough for me lol.

22 Dec 2017 21:42:09
I think in the end the draw was fair, we were far bette rebut with such a shower of manure for a keeper we can’t relt on 1/ 2 goal leads. I think either play karius or a goalie should be the priority not a CB. I’m our defence biggest critic and barring a single mistake by the young joe Gomez (which I accept he’s only young and still our best defender) but that keeer puts nerves through the team. Salah even though he scored and mane weren’t they’re amazing self but hey you can’t be a 10/ 10 every game but goalkeeper need to be priority. We gave 2 points away. I would like to note the referees abysmal performance, no penalty or sending offs but the amount of times we got kicked and nothing was given yet the same would happen the other way and it was given. A draw is a good result but how it happened is what was frustrating. Merry Christmas everyone.

johnbarnesleftpeg

{Ed025's Note - i thought the ref was ok JBLP, superb game from both teams but i agree that the reds should have won it..

1.) 22 Dec 2017 21:59:09
The draw fair? Don't make me laugh mate. Spanked them all over the park, mignolet costing us points since 2014.

2.) 22 Dec 2017 22:00:30
I think our goal keeping situation has been a disgrace since we signed mignolet and the amount of seasons he's been afforded to play. We then bought karius who I still can't truly judge because of a lack of game time and run of games.
The one thing we did see consistently from karius whenever he did play was his fantastic distribution. Danny ward aswell? Played well in Scotland and messed about.
I think there's a lot of simmering Anger from the majority of fans regarding our goalkeeping situation. If mignolets still given the nodd and say we make the champions league semis and he makes a costly mistake? I think the patience will rightfully run out and heads will be looking no further than klopp.

3.) 22 Dec 2017 22:10:13
I love ed25 responses even as a bluenose he’s just honest. I try to be honest but sometimes you don’t realise you’re biased. As I see it, we know the keepers crap so at the end of the day if he’s playing we know he’s prone to an error so regardless of how much pressure we spoke. If we don’t finish our chances we know the keeper will let one or two in.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

4.) 22 Dec 2017 22:17:18
We blew it, simple. Apart from a crazy 10 minutes Liverpool were so much better than the Gunners. Lucky for us that Cech let in a howler as well as Mignolet.

{Ed025's Note - fair point irish..

5.) 22 Dec 2017 22:30:41
johnbarnesleftpeg - Spot on mate, massive respect to him, not just an Everton fan but a football fan and see's things for what they are. Top fella! Thanks for your input tonight Ed25 mate.

{Ed025's Note - no problem mate..

6.) 22 Dec 2017 22:36:42
Feels like a bloody defeat to me never thought I'd feel this way again after the seville shambles but here I am again. Where's the whiskey?

{Ed025's Note - give betty ford a ring mate..

7.) 22 Dec 2017 23:24:14
If you ever wanted evidence that our keeper, defence and midfield simply weren’t up to it, well tonight was it.

8.) 22 Dec 2017 23:24:20
This the the about the 7th time we have dropped points from winning positions this season and it is killing us. This feels like nearly a defeat judging by the way we COMPLETELY bossed them for most of the game. Had we gone 4 up in the first half, it would not have flattered them as they are a shambles. Had Cech not screwed up, we would have been coming home empty-handed from a game we had no right to even concede a goal in let alone draw or lose.

9.) 22 Dec 2017 23:50:12
Finding it very hard now to stomach the continued use of players that we all know are not good enough. Forget the defence, forget Couts replacement, forget everything, I just don’t want Migs in goal anymore.

10.) 23 Dec 2017 04:09:24
You can have as many shots as you want as much possession as you want, don’t score you don’t get the points. Battered them? We had the Better chances and didn’t put them away. As I mentioned have a keeper like ours and you are sensitive to conceding goals. A draw was fair. I’d rather have 1 goal and score than 10 shots and not score. Watch the game again without bias and you’ll see the result was fair, is not winning was down to a lack of quality/ luck in finishing and a lack of a quality goalkeeper.

Great performance and without mane! Hope he come back willing to fight. That man mo again incredible defies physics! AOC looks great his attitude is great and kudos for defending Coutinho in the interview think he’ll be a gem! Robertson looked good too. Well done the lads.

I said his when Coutinho left, that is what we’d miss most, games like Swansea where pace makes no difference as the team sit so deep it’s that bit of magic from outside the box we need.

Some massive overreactions on here! If we sign someone we still have the second best team in the league, what if De Gea gets injured? United screwed, harry Kane? Good bye Harry Kane team, arsenal are a sh*t show right now, Chelsea? Why overpay for a player most of you have o my seen on YouTube when if Klopp doesn’t want him enough? A massive amount of money to waste.

I thought Milner and Henderson played well. I was never a huge Henderson fan but yesterday’s game was a good place to measure his intelligence first 15/ 20 Porto seemed to control and Henderson dropped deeper and things started to change. He may not ping 40 yes balls or score like Stevie G but he is a very intelligent player.

I don’t see the need for a RB, we have TAA, Gomez and Clyne and I’d rather not have a RB if it means seeing less of TAA or Gomez quite honestly. A new keeper would be nice but I’ll judge karius more at the end of the season when he’s had a fairer chance. The midfield will be injected with Keita but I’d love to see Ndidi too. The forward line is fine, LB is sorted, Lovren looks a better player next to VVD and long term Gomez will slot in hopefully. We have a lot of talented youngsters who I’d be more than happy see get some game time opposed to signing for the sake of signings. Luckily Klopp and his team seem to refrain from doing such things.

Management has a variety of style and quite honestly eh don’t see anything wrong with VVD’s style. You cannot always do everything yourself, that’s micro managing. On the football pitch communication is vita and u TIL VVD came in I don’t honk I ever saw any of our defenders talk. Even yetserday VVD was directing and egging then on when we looked a little sheepish. I will not pretend he’s perfect or will save us ever conceding. A goal but he wants to fight for this shirt, he’s the best we’ve had in a while and he’s got the balls to shoulder the responsibility. I think long term he’ll have been a great signing.
