Express are reporting that VVD will join Lfc and their Source is IndyKaila 😭.

1.) 24 Dec 2017 16:49:48
Lol really twitter's biggest fake in the know. Great journalism from the express not 😂😂😂😂.

21 Dec 2017 15:40:33
Manuel Akanji out of nowhere! Never seen him play.

1.) 21 Dec 2017 16:13:44
Basel are no mugs when it comes to talented footballers.

2.) 21 Dec 2017 16:18:56
Akanji is a decent player, but I'm not sure he'd be the best option. I haven't seen him aside from in the CL, and he didn't strike me as much of a leader. 2 CL games is hardly a fair sample size though, so I'll reserve judgement if he does sign.

3.) 21 Dec 2017 17:12:57
Any truth ed?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know. They have been in discussions with Dortmund over a move in January recently. Barcelona took a look and decided he wasn't for them and are looking at another of a similar age. I don't know if Liverpool has made any approach.}

4.) 21 Dec 2017 17:47:23
Ok mate thank you. I only asked as few people were mentioning him on here. Seems to have come out if the blue. We are after a CB so I guess we will have to wait and see.

5.) 21 Dec 2017 19:13:57
Salah cut his teeth at Basel.

6.) 21 Dec 2017 23:02:26
So did Rakitic, Xhaka, and El Neny.

13 Dec 2017 09:57:37
So today's reports say we are after Šime Vrsaljko.

1.) 13 Dec 2017 10:36:30
Bless you.

2.) 13 Dec 2017 12:58:51
Can we all just agree now that if we chase him or get him, he's referred to as Sime? Otherwise the search function for latest info will become a nightmare!

{Ed002's Note - Well to save you searching. It hasn't worked out in Madrid for Sime Vrsaljko and he has been made available by Atletico with several sides already declaring an interest with both his agent and his club. There have been discussions between his agent and his preferred choice of Napoli and tentative agreement has been reached, although they have yet to make a firm offer to Atletico who are not looking to negotiate. Other clubs who have let his agent and Atletico know that they are interested in discussing the player are Inter, Juventus and Liverpool - although he would not be first pick for Juventus.}

3.) 13 Dec 2017 15:14:47
Greatly appreciated Ed002, thank you.

4.) 13 Dec 2017 19:44:27
Anyone else think that right back isn't that much of a problem position and that this might hinder the development of Gomez and Alexander-Arnold?

5.) 13 Dec 2017 19:58:09
I guess it would be about balancing. Has been said a fair number of times that neither Gomez nor TAA is viewed as a long term RB so we will need someone there in next year or so.

09 Nov 2017 02:21:43
Hello Ed01, what happened to our interest in Mario Goetze?

{Ed001's Note - he was injured and not playing well for long periods.}

1.) 09 Nov 2017 06:01:46
Thats sad, I thought he would be a good Coutinho replacement.

New image uploaded to the
Liverpool Player Sightings page entitled, He actually chose option C 🤷‍♂️

1.) 01 Dec 2018 00:24:58
Really? Are we now analysing every pass each player makes.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 06:54:45
This is getting old now. He's our captain, he plays defensive midfield, not attacking midfield his job is to keep possession and break up play. Ok he had a bad game, so did most of the others.

25 Nov 2018 07:11:07
Ed01, How to stop Manchester city this season?

{Ed001's Note - exactly the same as last season, just get at them, they can't cope with pressure.}

1.) 25 Nov 2018 11:21:21
Ed, why are they thrashing team after team so convincingly?
I know it’s a very basic question, but could it be down a lack of managerial talent/ nous among the lesser teams in the division? Teams are just absolutely pathetic against City - they barely even bother to play, and we keep seeing the same mistakes made by every team City play leading to the same kind of goals being scored (cut back or slide pass across goal for a tap-in from Sterling, Silva or Aguero) .
It’s a bit shameful how not a single team, other than us, Wolves and Lyon, has even bothered attacking them.

{Ed001's Note - it is because the managers are cowardly. They go in looking to keep the score down rather than going in and taking a chance they might get hammered but could also pick up the points.}

2.) 25 Nov 2018 11:23:05
I wish more people could see that Ed mate. They're spoke about like they're untouchable and that's far from the truth. You attack them, what happens? then you've got a chance, sitting back doing bugger all will just invite them to destroy you. I just wish we'd see more teams going for it against them instead of concentrating on conceding less, go for the bloody goals because against that keeper and defence you're bound to get them.

{Ed001's Note - Pep's teams have always struggled against teams that take the game to them. They have been beaten by some truly awful teams over the years, purely because the other team had nothing to lose and attacked them.}

3.) 25 Nov 2018 11:44:33
True Ed, he relies on his attack far too much, he'd definitely come unstuck if more teams started attacking them. Their defence isn't good enough and Ederson, well, all I'll say is god knows what all the hype is all about. Before people say he has 8 clean sheets, sure he does why? because he's stood there doing bugger all most of the time.

{Ed001's Note - it is not so much reliant on attack as on possession. Teams are playing right into their hands by giving them easy possession and then wondering why they get a hiding. If you don't make it difficult, then you only have yourselves to blame that you get torn to shreds. Mind it would help if teams even did the basics of defending correctly. All of City's goals yesterday could have been defended by good defensive play.}

4.) 25 Nov 2018 12:04:49
It will be interesting to see peps approach the the game against us in the new year. Being at home I can’t see them sitting in the same way they did at anfield but he knows they could be in trouble if they play expansively and we press high.

Cheers.

5.) 25 Nov 2018 13:02:07
It’s the same for us too. Due to last season, teams mainly defend deep against us crossing their fingers we don’t score too many. Difference this season is with defensive solidity (same goals against as City) we only need 1 to win.

6.) 25 Nov 2018 14:04:01
Im getting really irritated. don't other teams in the league want to win at all? city have best players to unlock d defens in bus tactics. y can't anyone get that? for gods sake mourinho beat them at their home by going straight at them last year! y can't others do that? even spurs last year just defended. they can't even play when other teams stick to them.

7.) 25 Nov 2018 16:03:36
So wrapped in other teams and the weekly slating one of our players, that TAA excellent free kick seem to bypass everyone on here, it was one hell of a goal by the young lad, just thought it needed mentioning on here 😆😆.

8.) 25 Nov 2018 16:50:16
Just stay within 2 points! They'll come up against a good team in Europe (where they always struggle) and they'll get Battered. Their confidence will be temporarily Shot, And they'll drop points. Then we've got to pounce.

9.) 25 Nov 2018 17:12:52
West ham had about as many chances as City yesterday, they just didn't take them. In fairness City attacked very well, but all west ham did was toss the ball right back to city which invited constant pressure. Credit where it's due some of the movement is wonderful and they work hard, but a more savy a d clinical West ham would have got something out of that game in my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - you do make me smile you reds fans istanbul, west ham were trounced 4-0 at home and you think west ham could of got something from it????, they did get something...a good arse kicking by the best and most clinical side in the league mate..

10.) 25 Nov 2018 17:25:28
Couldn’t age agree more Ed. His teams keep coming clean sheets because they keep the ball so well, limiting the opposition to creating few chances. It’s not that they are actually good defensively, teams just allow them to play the way they want to play. You actually go at Pep teams and you realise that they aren’t as good defensively as stats suggest. It’s just a case of managers not having enough balls to go out and beat them because they’re too scared to lose.

Hi Ed01, I saw Klopp's comments about Salah. According to him Salah needs to regain his confidence but what amazes me is how can a football player who scored 44 goals last season loose his confidence within a few months! ?

{Ed001's Note - injury. That shoulder injury is of a type that can re-occur so it does affect confidence.}

1.) 30 Sep 2018 08:43:22
He injured his shoulder not his left foot. His passing is slack, he is trying to bundle through challenges, he is not striking the ball cleanly, is this confidence?

He was awesom last season, but really should have had 60 goals with the amount of sitters he missed.

Dont get me wrong, he is obviously a very talented footballer, but I think last year was a one off. All this 'egyptian king' stuff and all the hype i think has got to him and I think he thinks he's better than he actually is. He is absolutely nowhere near the same class as messi, ronaldo, de bryne or hazard etc.

2.) 30 Sep 2018 09:33:20
Great support for a Liverpool player LFC-1984.

{Ed001's Note - and someone who clearly has no idea about injury recovery and how it can affect players, especially injuries that are potentially recurring.}

3.) 30 Sep 2018 09:36:54
Cheers lfc-1984, bloody hell mate lol.

4.) 30 Sep 2018 09:39:29
That's a shocking comment lfc1984. Despite you saying "don't get me wrong, he's talented", I don't think you realise how talented he is. He keeps terrifying defences, every time the ball goes to him, he makes it stick and generally lays off to a team mate. Yes he's not being incisive around the box, but in every game he still tends to do more than Bobby and Mane.

You have mentioned Hazard in your list of elite players. Why does he have two bad seasons after every good one? Why do pundits and fans keep blaming Chelsea managers for not getting the best out of him? Why can't he motivate himself to play at that level every year? Nobody has ever said that Messi or Ronaldo are suffering because of managers, tactics, or the way constellations have aligned against them. The point is that what Messi and Ronaldo are unique, and while Salah may not be as good as them two, you seem to be overly impressed by other clubs' players than your own.

I think Hazard and De Bruyne are amazing players, but may be you should give Salah as much time as people give the other two before being so dismissive. Saying things like the hype has got to him is just bitter and ignorant. If the hype had got to him, he would not work so hard for the team, chase lost causes all game, turn around and praise team mates eventhough their passes were overhit, and help out defensively as much as Salah does.

5.) 30 Sep 2018 09:48:59
the potential for a reccuring injury has noting to do with why he shooting or passing is off though, its his upper body that got injured, so could undertand him not going shoulder to shoulder etc. if he hasn't fully recovered from his injury he shouldn't be playing or we are asking for trouble and just damaging his conficence even more.

{Ed001's Note - you really have not got a clue what you are talking about at all. Going shoulder to shoulder is not what damaged his shoulder, it was it being pulled out of its socket. The pain doesn't come from impact, it comes from movement. Try reading up, there are plenty of studies done on injury recovery that would help remove the veil of ignorance.}

6.) 30 Sep 2018 10:06:32
I can't believe what I'm reading right now, lfc-1984 you really should do more research before going on about something you clearly have no idea about. Ed1, posts like that aren't worthy of your time mate.

{Ed001's Note - you are probably right but sometimes I just can't sit and read some of the bull that is posted by people who are so clearly ignorant that they make Richard Keys seem a well informed and intelligent guy.}

7.) 30 Sep 2018 10:09:08
Thank you for the reply ED01.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome. The injury means he is not using his arm with full movement mentally, which affects balance, which then restricts his ability to twist and turn and to strike the ball in the same way. The body is a complex set of interlinked machines that has to adjust constantly to changes around it, without us even realising it. One slight change to the internal aspects throws that out and it has to relearn how to do everything in a way that counters the effects. It can take time and have a terrible effect. Just look at Michael Owen with his hamstrings, his game went completely because he was not mentally able to get over the injuries. Fernando Torres was the same.

The worst of it is that the body will spend time learning to adjust to cope with an injury, then when the injury is healed it then has to relearn how to return to natural movement. Studies on ACL injuries have suggested that alone will take a minimum of 6 months.}

8.) 30 Sep 2018 10:18:18
Due to its complexity and multidirectional movement the shoulder can be an extremely irritable injury and takes very little to annoy it. During recovery every little flare up would create anxiety about movement and contact so there is every chance it is still playing on his mind. Regarding it’s impact on kicking the ball, if he is protecting it slightly or not truly relaxing the shoulder this will effect his balance and weight distribution when setting himself to shoot. Maybe that’s why he is pulling so many shots at present.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - well said! That is what I was trying to explain.}

9.) 30 Sep 2018 10:41:51
lfc-1984, you are talking utter rubbish, I have played amateur footy for years and there will be many other posters here who also play.
Having a serious shoulder injury has a significant impact on your running and balance. How many athletes have you seen running with their arms down at their sides and never moving? . Try sprinting at full speed with a bad shoulder injury, you will feel plenty of pain.

It may take Salah a few months to get back to scoring again but he is still causing panic in opposition defences with his movement. Teams are also closing him down quicker this season. Maybe you should consider all these factors before calling him a 1 season wonder.

10.) 30 Sep 2018 10:42:44
Great post greggers and a fantastic reply to RedEka Ed1.

11.) 30 Sep 2018 10:47:00
His Shoulder was not pulled out of its socket. And though i do not agree with 1984, i really don't like how the ends insult and outright disrespect people who have opposing views.

Belittling people does not encourage healthy discourse.

{Ed001's Note - it is not an opposing view, it is ignorance. It is not an insult to describe a lack of knowledge as ignorance, because that is what the word means. It is not belittling someone to say so, it is pointing out a fact. Why is it that any kind of criticism is seen as insulting or belittling?

As for Salah his shoulder was dislocated, which means it was pulled out of its cup socket. Though what have you added apart from to have a dig at me? Nothing, just created more friction.}

12.) 30 Sep 2018 10:55:16
Ok fair point, I see what you saying. I don’t want to start an Angus this. Hands up, my bad, just had a mad moment coz I know what the man is capable of and guess it’s just abit disappointment that’s he’s not back there yet.

{Ed001's Note - he will get there, just remember the start of last season there was a lot of moaning about him missing chances then. But what is an Angus this? My ignorance is showing here as I have never heard of that.}

13.) 30 Sep 2018 12:11:34
Thanks for the info Ed001. i was snapped something in my knee and ever since then, i moved slightly differently, especially when i needed to jump and land with force. its as if the body is preventing myself from getting hurt again. i can't quite describe and even when i intentionally try to land as i did previously, it just doesn't come off anymore and sometimes when i accidentally do, i get this 'knee jerk' reaction mentally wondering if i had injure myself again.

on the Salah injury, i'm actually feeling more disgusted that Ramos clearly intended to hurt him given the type of injury that was sustained. forget about the result of the final, we could still have lost even if Salah was on for 90mins. what i'm talking about here is a professional intentionally hurting another to gain an advantage and then going on public to say that its all part of the game.

i do wonder how Ramos will fare if on a weekly basis, he has to come up against Glen Murray, Diego Costa types.

and in another wild imagination, how would it be between him and Shearer as they both behaved like thugs on the field.

{Ed001's Note - it is very common to change how you move. I did when I suffered from shin splints as a child, which is what sparked my interest in finding out about injuries and how to recover from them.}

14.) 30 Sep 2018 18:13:44
Wow just wow, he's not at his level from last season yet but there's no way you drop him. He's still scarring defences as you see them double up on him because they are terrified of him after what he did last season, this creates space for others to work in and all this while still recovering from serious injury, and he's not playing poorly he's playing very well, look at some of the chances he made for himself yesterday all the while surrounded by 3 or 4 players, the only criticism you could have of him so far is his decision making in the final third, and that's just a confidence thing I think because he's not fully fit and he's over thinking things, he's a world class player, you don't drop world class players end of.

15.) 30 Sep 2018 18:17:18
Away from salah as an individual but our from three don't seem to be firing as well as last season. is this a case of rusty and they will get better as the season progresses or have the other teams seen ways to slow us down are we saying different tactics. we have gotten the results don't get me as moaning but just an observation.

18 Jan 2018 18:52:38
Hi Ed 01, Do you rate Shaqiri?

{Ed001's Note - nope, he has ability but no brains and is lazy and injury prone.}

08 Jan 2018 13:44:18
Luan vieira will be the surprise replacement guys! Saw it in my crystal ball 🔮.

1.) 08 Jan 2018 15:14:24
Crystal meth more like.

2.) 08 Jan 2018 15:26:14
It's such a shame Harry Wilson hasn't progressed I thought that kid looked quality an could of been a successor to coutihno, I don't know wat more he could of done in reserves too get more chances scored a bag full of goals an impressed an now it looks like his time has passed I think if he leaves that will come back too bite us in the ass.

{Ed002's Note - It is a big jump up from the reserves to the first team. However much he wants to stay his future likely lies elsewhere.}

3.) 08 Jan 2018 18:17:41
Agree hailstones I think he is a super player. It is a big step up ed but how will we know if he is capable if he never given the chance?

4.) 08 Jan 2018 19:05:44
