Hey ed1 I read that you wee waiting for a definite answer on Griezemann
Any news?

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember saying that regarding Griezmann. I am told we are not going to match the asking price or wage demands for him.}

1.) Decent talent if the price and demands are closed to Lallana i'd have no problem

2.) I'm sure the club will be so pleased to have your approval dezyboy :)

Hey eds have Liverpool activated Cans release clause and is Moreno nearing towards Anfield. Lastly is Borini on the way out.

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside release clauses, I understand that Liverpool has made an offer for Emre Can. The situation with Moreno is unchanged and Liverpool has not made an acceptable bid. Borini is keen to stay at Liverpool.}

1.) Liverpool met the original asking price and were granted permission to speak to moreno. personal terms have been agreed.seville are now trying to get more money out if Liverpool.a medical is still planned.

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish. Liverpool has not made an acceptable offer.}

2.) Seville have moved the goal posts over the amount and structure.this is not unusual with them.

3.) Its now being reported that Liverpool FC have completed the signature of Emre Can and will be present the deal as complete tomorrow (according to Bild)

4.) Ed, would you say Liverpools offer for can is 'acceptable' as you said earlier forget about the clause?

{Ed002's Note - I believe it is.}

Hey eds are we interested in shaqirii. Would be great if we did. Also are we looking for strikers to back up SAS. We can expect them to play every game in a 40 game plus season!

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Shaqiri is one of the players Bayern are looking to sell and they are seriously pissed with him right now. Sevilla and Fiorentina have a declared interest with Liverpool, Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries. Bayern are taking an interest in Pogba and are looking to include Shaqiri in a deal - but Shaqiri apparently does not want to go there and Pogba is settled, at least for a week or two.

Borini has returned so perhaps that will be enough. There is a growing feeling that there is interest in Kalou but I have nothing confirmed right now.}

1.) Sorry Ed can't see Liverpool being at all interested in Kalou. He is a squad player at best and Liverpool are looking for more quality and possible starters.
Royzered.

2.) Sorry eds meant to say we can't expect them to play every game in a 40 game plus season!

04 Jan 2014 11:59:55
Hi eds you mentioned that it would be unlikely for rakitic to come in unless a midfielder was leaving implying that we have too many midfielders. But for a team that plays 3 midfielders, 4 hardly covers depth so wouldn't rakitic or the like be considered as a reinforcement than a replacement?

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - The long term interest in Rakitic is from Lazio where he was expected to move in the summer. Personally I do not see him moving in January but PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, Lazio and perhaps Liverpool would be interested if he were available at a sensible price.}

1.) Eds appreciate the response but I didn't mean rakitic specifically, I meant any midfielder who comes in Jan to add to our 4 midfielders.

Ed just throwing that Nfl collegiate system article back at you for your new list, also what about some other players, Figo, Raul, The man who really sparked a change in football in my eyes was Ronaldinho,

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - Ronaldinho was already on there, but I have added the other two. The collegiate system article is top of my list, but the research is taking a while as I don't know anything about the system used, so have to read up on it first. I am just knocking out the odd article quickly inbetween reading up on it.}

1.) 16 Oct 2017 12:40:50
Thanks a bunch ed, I'm sure everyone agrees with me when I say we hugely appreciate the articles you write and the time you take for each of them.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Sorry this one is taking particularly long though!}

2.) 16 Oct 2017 13:06:42
Definitely agree Welsh mate - he does a top job at writing them.

3.) 16 Oct 2017 19:49:56
No need to apologise mate you keep cracking on, having said that let me throw another one into the mix, a review of the Brazil 1970 World Cup squad?

{Ed001's Note - good idea that one, my favourite non-Liverpool team of all time is that. I have added it to the list.}

4.) 16 Oct 2017 22:38:48
That was some team, Welsh and Ed. The ironic thing is that many in Brazil still believe that Pele was not its best player, Not even close.

{Ed001's Note - he was never my favourite from it, but he was the main striker and they always get the plaudits.}

If you think our game was bad, anybody watch Fenerbahce Vs Besiktas? That was entertaining to say the least!

Welsh red376

1.) 24 Sep 2017 16:05:58
Aye, 5 red cards! LOL!

15 Sep 2017 14:15:50
So guys to get a bit of attention away from wherever it is let's have some fun, imagine you've been captured by the Brazilian triad mafia and because you bought the wrong toothpaste you have to pay. So they seat you in a field and suspend a knife that when dropped will fall right onto you.

However they offer you a chance, you get to choose one current LFC player and when the knife drops the player has one shot with a ball from about say 25 yards away to kick the knife away and save you.

The knife is dropped high enough to allow you a chance to be saved. Question is who do you pick. Now I would go for a bit of reverse porkies, choose Mignolet but tell him to aim for my head. That should do it.

Welsh red376

1.) 15 Sep 2017 14:21:13
Id chose Hendo he'd never hit it with his so called amazing passing ability and it would put me out of my misery of watching our efence every week.

2.) 15 Sep 2017 14:22:53
can i get mane to kick my head? ill get stitches but knife won't be dropping on my head.

3.) 15 Sep 2017 14:43:16
Kazier- that's fair game, you just need to hope Mane is quick enough to get there before the knife does.

4.) 15 Sep 2017 14:48:59
I'd kiss Emre Can, marry Alberto Moreno, and avoid James Milner.

Oh whoops, wrong game.

5.) 15 Sep 2017 14:53:26
I'd choose Robertson he might aswell saves him sitting on the bench all the time 😃.

6.) 15 Sep 2017 14:58:39
How many drugs have you taken.

7.) 15 Sep 2017 15:08:57
I pick klopp. He could scare the knife so much it'd freeze.

8.) 15 Sep 2017 16:52:10
You lost me at toothpaste.

9.) 15 Sep 2017 17:21:11
Milner - he's pretty accurate 🤝.

12 Sep 2017 10:39:21
Ed1 ED2 any undiscovered eds and peeps, we've heard talk of world class players, and ED2 has quite rightly stated if there was a one team of the best players would they get in? So I'm saying there's an Alien invasion and akin to space jam, there's a clause that let's us play a game of football to save our universe. And by some lucky chance your/ my ugly mug is manager. Who's playin? For me it's Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny wait wha it's not basketball?

Welsh red376

1.) 12 Sep 2017 11:00:01
If we play Ozil, Ribery, Pepe and Tevez then the aliens might think they are on their own planet and leave us alone?

2.) 12 Sep 2017 11:12:21
MK don't forget Rooney and Roy Keane.

3.) 12 Sep 2017 11:43:49
I don't think "world class" can mean the twenty best players in the world. That is the cream of the cream or the elite. There are more than twenty world class players in the premiership let alone the world.

I think it should be defined as the best players in the best leagues. If coutinio is world class then so is mane. Wc could be defined as the top level of international football imo.

4.) 12 Sep 2017 11:40:40
Or john Flanagan.

5.) 12 Sep 2017 12:14:37
Mane needs to work on he's decisions and understanding of the game if he is to be labeled World class imho. Great player though with extreme qualities, not ment to be negative towards Mane in any way just my thoughts.

6.) 12 Sep 2017 12:19:18
Or jess ie lingard.

7.) 12 Sep 2017 12:21:56
Jon Flanagan has a beautiful smile 😊.

8.) 12 Sep 2017 13:19:21
Superred,

If hendo and Lallana are world class as you say, then 50% of the premier league players are.

9.) 12 Sep 2017 13:22:41
Jessie lingard doesnt.

10.) 12 Sep 2017 13:44:11
Ha ha ha! 20 WC players in the PL?

11.) 12 Sep 2017 14:37:59
World class is a subjective term, used to describe a completely subjective judgement.

And you all sit their and mock each other regarding who is and isn't? It's childish.

In my opinion, world class means in the top 10 players in the world for your position. Showered may define it as anybody in the top 100. He may have entirely different criteria. He may define it as anybody good enough to win titles. Who knows! What i do know is you can't tell each other as facts who is and isn't world class. I've grown to dislike the term because people who view it differently, rather than ask you to explain your logic, just mock you for thinking differently to them.

Henderson in my opinion is not world class. Nor is Lallana. Nor is Firmino. In fact Mane is pretty touch and go. I can completely accept that people disagree though. It's an opinion.

In my opinion, bench pressing 100kg is difficult! In Ed001's opinion, bench pressing 100kg is easy because if he can carry the weight of this site around his neck all day, 100kg is bugger all! Stop tearing into each other over the definition of a cliché phrase used to quantify a bloody opinion, for god's sake.

12.) 12 Sep 2017 16:26:11
I said they were close to world class stand. You are slagging them because you are utd.

You talk about Hendo as if he is an average premiership midfielder but he is in fact the England captain. If you think lallana is average then I can only imagine you are a cricket man rather than football. I would take ads over any attacking mid at utd. I really like Juan mata but I think AL is better.

Did you see him play last season before Xmas? He was immense. He was also probably England's best player in the euros. Not saying much admittedly. I think if both Hendo and lallana could add finishing to their game they would be truly world class. That's my opinion. I do seem to have a different definition of world class to most on here and maybe I'm wrong.

13.) 12 Sep 2017 16:41:29
I regret this lol, play nice.

14.) 12 Sep 2017 10:57:20
Ed1? ED2? Ed25? Any takers?

{Ed025's Note - i would have stretch armstrong in goal, the beatles as my back 4, curly larry and mo in a 3 man midfield, and a forward line of batman and superman playing either side of arnold schwarzenegger..

15.) 12 Sep 2017 18:17:02
Super, I'm not a bias poster. Search my history of post and you'll see I'm very fair all round. Im not blinkered by my own team, and happily admit players from other teams are good. My interpretation of a world class player is probably the top 5 players in each position. A player who all top clubs, like Madrid and Barca, would happily have in their squads. I think Mane is close to that level, I think coutinho is close too, just think he is slightly inconsistent from time to time. From us De Gea is the obvious one, best in the world. Pogba can become world class. That's probably it from our side. But you can't tell me Henderson and Lallana are even close to that level. Sorry but no chance. I also would have Mikhitarian over Lallana all day, who needs 5 touches each time he collects the ball. I can genuinly say I wouldn't take either in or squad. Mane and coutinho of course.

So this is going to be a bit of a rant post sorry so tune out if you want, but Klopp should go. Just kidding, my actual rant is what the hell was the point of sending Ryan Kent on loan to flippin Freiburg. Firstly aren't loans supposed to theoretically ready a player for the prem ( in our case the prem), sending Kent to Germany is hardly the ideal breeding ground and how much time is he likely to see battling against the players already there.

Furthermore sending an English Youngster to Germany is bound to produce a culture clash, a whole new language living style etc and he'll have to adapt to that for a whole year and for what? A chance to feature in the cup games? I've seen a couple of youngsters excel on loans just to be shipped back out. His playing time there won't build his premier league CV and I hope at the very least he can build a career in Germany because it seems like he's finished for Liverpool. I know anything can happen but still I feel it's game over. On a positive note it's one more guy out of the way for Ben Woodburn to become Liverpools all time leading top goal scorer! No pressure Ben!

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Freiburg is a great option for Kent - he will be able to grow as a person and gain experience.}

1.) 05 Sep 2017 20:41:39
I agree with ed 02. If there is another league in Europe that was similar to the premiership it's the bundas league (sorry about the spelling) I'm glad he's gone on loan because is unlikely he will get in liverpool team atm. Some players can't handle the big crowds. This will hopefully toughen him up.

2.) 05 Sep 2017 21:05:39
Totally agree with Ed 2 here. Open his mind to new ways, new experiences. He has to learn to cope with pressure and dealing with the hard times. In fact, it's a bit sad that not more young English players play abroad for a while. Also, Germany is probably the closest european country to the Uk in terms of culture. Great loan for the lad.

3.) 05 Sep 2017 21:21:43
Experience away from home is very beneficial for development as well. Heck a lot of English players can’t hack it in say, the champions league because they have no experience playing anywhere else but in England.
Plus as said above the Bundesliga is the closest league to the prem and he will be playing against some big teams!
Also he will be able to keep an eye on Keita for us haha.

4.) 05 Sep 2017 21:48:52
Should have kept instead of buying a sprinter. Kent proved enough during pre season. Who will he replaces next summer now that AOX is a cover? Ryan Kent should be what Garay is doing at Leicester!

5.) 05 Sep 2017 21:52:30
Give it a rest Harry. Ok you don't rate the Ox we get it pal.

6.) 05 Sep 2017 22:02:25
Welsh
Don't put me in the ". Future looking bright. " group but I am fan of both Woodie and Kent. Genuine quality there for talking and nothing less!

7.) 05 Sep 2017 22:13:15
As far I'm aware. German football as a profession is really top notch. So learning from that dressing room alone will be a big help.

Also klopp probably knows people at the club better than in England so maybe getting better insight.

German teams actually play there young players. So he's going to get games unlike British teams.

The crowds there are borderline volatile, passionate but one bad push from becoming a riot. Playing in front of that especially on the flanks will stand him in great a tead.

All in all its a good move.

8.) 05 Sep 2017 22:17:51
Freisburg is an aesthetically beautiful town with glorious scenery. Lots of outdoor stuff to do there. It's vibrant and has a young population. The people of Freisburg are lovely folk. Kent has had a proper touch by being sent there on loan from a cultural perspective and from a footballing one it's ideal.

He'll get regular game time and will develop and hone his game. It's an exceptional life experience and I wish I was lucky enough to have had that opportunity at his age. Kent will be fine and if he gets homesick i'm sure the club will send him some Heinz baked beans and HP sauce to help him assimilate into German society.

9.) 05 Sep 2017 22:18:57
Freiburg is a real nice place mate not far from the black Forrest he'll get to eat a lot of good cake. With a bit of luck he might pick up a bit of the local lingo which would be good in communicating with Klopp. He'd probably find a lot more cultural humans than he would going on loan to burnley. And one should always remember the Beatles came from Hamburg so Germany could be a good choice for him.

10.) 05 Sep 2017 23:19:58
We can't babysit these players until they are ready we have our own targets for the first team to attain and right now he is way down the pecking order.
Kent has come a long way in a very short time and this is his opportunity to show he's ready for professional football and all of the pressures that come with it.
The ball is in his court if he excels he'll come back a better, more experienced player and a more rounded and confident person having learned a new language and shown he can integrate him self into a new squad and play in a different league.
If he struggles he will still have a future in the game but he may have to move down the leagues first.
It's up to him really and fair play to us for giving him that opportunity.
And Harry AOC is an experienced international with bags of premier league and champions league experience. You simply can't compare the two. We need players who can play at the highest level and have shown they can do that. Not just throw kids in and hope for the best. It could actually destroy them if it goes wrong.

11.) 06 Sep 2017 03:42:10
Freiburg's a good move for Kent, but it came at the expense of Klopp splashing 35 million pounds on an average AOC. Should have kept one of Ojo or Kent at the club and not signed AOC and used the money for Lemar and VVD next season.

{Ed001's Note - it was nothing to do with Ojo and Kent at all. As for keeping Ojo, he desperately needs to be playing very regular football, a loan is a good thing for him.}

12.) 06 Sep 2017 04:54:20
So what happens when Ojo and Kent come back from loan? Or will Klopp see no use for AOC then? We have Keita coming in next season and possibly Lemar (coutinho's replacement) in midfield. We will be overstocked and someone will have to make way. And AOC will be a fringe player at best. 35 million for a squad player is madness imo.

{Ed001's Note - what are you wittering on about? Your hatred of Ox is just blinding you to sense. Ox can play central midfield, that is what he is coming for mainly. You mention Keita but seem to be forgetting that we are losing Can and Henderson has an injury that could potentially flare up again. Lallana is getting older and has had a long term injury this season that might see him never get back to his best. Then there is Couts, who might never bother trying in a Liverpool shirt again, for all we know. So we needed someone in there with Lucas going. The fact he can cover the wings is a bonus.}

13.) 06 Sep 2017 06:30:53
I don't see how it is a bad move to send him to a good club, in a country that develops good players, that plays youngsters, where the manager has contacts that can keep an eye and give advice he respects.

14.) 06 Sep 2017 06:38:58
The nay sayers are frickin everywhere again this week - jeez.
I moved to Germany as an 18 year old a year after school, it's a great place to gain knowledge, independence, self worth/ growth and to also be thankful for what you have back home. My brother moved there before me and is still there 25 plus years later.
The English footballers don't try to move abroad enough and miss out on some great cultures like in Germany.
He will learn a lot there and if he plays well, mark my words Klopp will find a place for him - Milner will also be gone next season, Lallana is likely to have a season or maybe 2 left with us. Stop bloody whining about the future and be exited about it - if Kent stayed this season, he'd not get a look in like Ward. People are whining he should be sent on loan, you can't bloody win. Clueless!

I guess it's just the FIFA manager inside all of USB that wants to sign 70 players for 1 position, I mean I signed Keita Balde Diao and Berardi in one window despite having Bernardo Silva and Sharaawy and Vela already so maybe we should take a step back. Ed have Liverpool shown any interest in the players I've mentioned?

If it was Marko Arnautovic would be being fought over by the likes of Barca, Madrid, PSG etc rather than having the option to battle relegation at Stoke or battle relegation at West Ham.

Sorry ed but not sure what you mean here?

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - I thought it was fairly obvious I was saying that if whining, diving and giving away the ball repeatedly were a good thing than Arnautovic would not be at a struggling club.}

Great review ED1 as per, not sure why we kept trying to whip the ball in vs 7 defenders when our first one two move gets a sweet goal from Can. Also how about a one off review of Tottenham bringing down Real? Just as it was such a big win and a shock too.

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - so long as you whip it in early then nothing wrong with crossing, though it makes sense to get more bodies in the box if you intend to do so.

As for a review of the Spurs game, it was not really a shock to most people, Madrid have been hopeless this season. Zidane has been getting by on being Zizou and now he is facing some setbacks he is being found out. Plus I never saw it to review it, I watched us play.}
