Hey ed1 I read that you wee waiting for a definite answer on Griezemann
Any news?

Welsh red376

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember saying that regarding Griezmann. I am told we are not going to match the asking price or wage demands for him.}

04 Jun 2014 16:42:35
Hey eds have Liverpool activated Cans release clause and is Moreno nearing towards Anfield. Lastly is Borini on the way out.

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside release clauses, I understand that Liverpool has made an offer for Emre Can. The situation with Moreno is unchanged and Liverpool has not made an acceptable bid. Borini is keen to stay at Liverpool.}

Hey eds are we interested in shaqirii. Would be great if we did. Also are we looking for strikers to back up SAS. We can expect them to play every game in a 40 game plus season!

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Shaqiri is one of the players Bayern are looking to sell and they are seriously pissed with him right now. Sevilla and Fiorentina have a declared interest with Liverpool, Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries. Bayern are taking an interest in Pogba and are looking to include Shaqiri in a deal - but Shaqiri apparently does not want to go there and Pogba is settled, at least for a week or two.

Borini has returned so perhaps that will be enough. There is a growing feeling that there is interest in Kalou but I have nothing confirmed right now.}

Hi eds you mentioned that it would be unlikely for rakitic to come in unless a midfielder was leaving implying that we have too many midfielders. But for a team that plays 3 midfielders, 4 hardly covers depth so wouldn't rakitic or the like be considered as a reinforcement than a replacement?

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - The long term interest in Rakitic is from Lazio where he was expected to move in the summer. Personally I do not see him moving in January but PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, Lazio and perhaps Liverpool would be interested if he were available at a sensible price.}

Aside from conversations about tonight, anyone see Ronaldo's goal last night? Phwaorr!

Welsh red376

1.) 04 Apr 2018 09:02:10
Can's was better. Higher in the air, and Can twisted his body to adjust to the flight of the ball.

2.) 04 Apr 2018 09:13:52
it was a beauty of a goal.

3.) 04 Apr 2018 11:56:04
The best bicycle kick I've ever seen was Ibrahimovic for Sweden against England. a 30 yard bicycle chip. still unbelievable today.

4.) 04 Apr 2018 15:28:38
Reynard, that was a once in a lifetime! Will be unbelievable for decades to come. But that's Zlatan 😉.

5.) 04 Apr 2018 16:26:18
Was joe hart in goal? If so Zlatan could probably do it again.

6.) 04 Apr 2018 17:41:14
Best bicycle kick I've ever seen was Trevor sinclairs. forgot who he was playing for but check it out lads. brilliant.

7.) 04 Apr 2018 17:33:20
Benteke (i know), Ibrahimovic, Can, Rivaldo, Mexes all better, and the list could go on. Ronaldo's was good but not as good as many would have you believe. I genuinely used to do those for fun in the park no probs - even without the oceans of space he was given by Juventus. He had the perfect run at it. Couple of steps backwards and its like you're running up an imaginary wall. Ok, Champions league quarters puts on pressure but it is Ronaldo. The best part about it was the reaction of the Juve fans.

My friend told me he's happy when we beat a big team but even happier when we beat a team who come to park the team bus at an field, what about you guys?

Welsh red376

1.) 04 Mar 2018 20:00:17
I have to be honest, i celebrated yesterdays win harder than any win since we beat Man City. I was out till 1am in my Liverpool shirt doing karaoke 😂

I don't even fully know why it felt so sweet, but i think i just saw it as one of our toughest games left because Rafa is so good a getting a 0-0 from a much better team away from home! We have historically struggled to break down disciplined teams but the movement yesterday was so good, that we could have had 4 or 5 if the finishing/ final ball had been slightly better. Still managed to get a comfortable win though and in seasons gone by, Diame's shot goes in and we draw 1-1 with a late Milner penalty or a 25 yard strike from our old number 10, Judas.

2.) 04 Mar 2018 20:02:01
Lately I've been delighted after beating West Ham and Newcastle because we really struggled to beat them on other occasions. I really do believe that we are going to be top 4 more often.

3.) 04 Mar 2018 20:09:44
I’m happy whenever we win, but I was happier when we beat City than Newcastle.

4.) 04 Mar 2018 20:59:26
Let’s hope Palace beat United tomorrow to round off a good weekend.

5.) 04 Mar 2018 21:04:03
For sure happy we win. Although it pisses, me off when we lose to teams we should beat. Most of the times is because the players think all they have to do is show up to the game and don't try.

I get it, easier to psyche yourself up against the likes of Man City, and champions League.

But the good teams should never disrespect the opposition, whether it's Real Madrid, or Everton (lol)

6.) 04 Mar 2018 21:17:17
Shame to call coutinio a judas. He continued to put in great performances long after it was well known by all that he wanted out. Its not like he joined Everton or utd. He joined Barcelona and as a South American, we all know it was his dream. He saved us many a time with his world class talent and slagging him off stinks of sour grapes. He loved his time in Liverpool and was offered a promotion, it's not like he is a scouser. Not only did he leave to join, who many feel are, the greatest team in the world but he was offered a MASSIVE pay rise. I still really like him. As a football fan it is hard not to admire him. He didn't leave us high and dry, he signed that new contract ensuring that we received a massive fee for him. Y. N. W. A Philip Coutinio.

7.) 04 Mar 2018 22:21:37
Barry you've just displayed a certain type of Liverpool supporters mindset and it's alarming, but not unexpected.

8.) 04 Mar 2018 22:09:34
your right there SS, but what got me was when he handed in a transfer request the day before the season started,
thats what you call bad timing .
after that, I just wanted the highest price for him,
and now, he is just another ex Liverpool player .

9.) 04 Mar 2018 22:09:56
Still left after all we gave him.

If i gave my Mrs a hug and kiss just before i went off an cheated on her, would she thank me for being nice to her until i lefr? Ha. Nah, I'd be eating through a canala for the next 50 years.

10.) 04 Mar 2018 22:30:17
We are the greatest club in the world I'm not sure why Barcelona is. They have a lot of prestige but then so do we. I don't blame Coutinho for going but I don't think he should have signed a new contract with us if he was intent on leaving anyway.

11.) 04 Mar 2018 22:39:00
I am plentiful happy as long as we get 3 points.

12.) 04 Mar 2018 22:45:55
No mk but she might appreciate the Pre nuptial agreement. And husbands wives are meant to stay together, footballers are transient.

13.) 05 Mar 2018 00:02:42
I think he signed the new contract so we would get more for him. It gave him a deserved pay rise for 6 months and took away any thoughts of a Bosman transfer.

14.) 05 Mar 2018 03:51:30
I am disappointed any time we don't win. but more so when it is against a mid- or bottom-of-the-table team. However, give me a win over any of the other bigger teams any day. To be the best, you have to beat the best - that's why the Champions League is so good in my opinion. I appreciate league is so tough as you have to manage mindset, rotation and other variables as well as skillsets. In the CL, it should come down to tactics and skillset mainly as all players appear up for the games.

15.) 05 Mar 2018 07:53:39
Firstly, not a lot will overtake the high of that Man City game. A solid 2-0 over Newcastle was immensely satisfying but matches like the one against City is the reason why football is the best sport in the world.

Secondly, people really need to get over Coutinho leaving. He didn't dream of playing for Liverpool as a child. Whatever his reasons for signing contracts etc, it doesn't matter. We got an astounding deal for him and we have been better without him. Comparing his move to cheating on your missus is disrespectful to your missus and a bit childish. She's meant to be there forever, footballers move all the time.

Thirdly, Waro, I don't know how old you are but if you are old enough to remember 'the glory days', you will also be old enough to remember that a hell of a lot has happened in that time. There have been at least 4 powershifts in that time, seeing different teams ruling the roost in England and we have not been even close to matching past glories. That ended 30 years ago, give or take. When our current owners took over we were at our lowest spot that I can remember and now we are progressing, looking to the top once again. We don't have a Sheikh or an oil baron, but we do have an experienced, successful sports investment company that don't want to settle for mediocrity either. We all want to be champions, it's just that some of us are more pragmatic about climbing the steps in between first.

16.) 05 Mar 2018 08:26:32
Oops, wrong button. I was going to refer to the settling in of new players and unsettling of existing ones and how Klopp is only saying they are all together and joking at this stage of the season. It must be tough being a manager and having to disappoint several players every week. It's easy to drop players when things aren't going well. (Or words to that effect, but more convoluted) .

17.) 05 Mar 2018 09:31:37
Knuckledragger, you say Coutinho didn't dream of playing for Liverpool when he was a child and that is fair enough! But please a quick google search of Coutinho as a child you will find he never dreamed of playing for Barcelona as a kid either!

18.) 05 Mar 2018 12:12:34
The whole point about coutinho is that he signed a massive contract in the Jan with a huge pay rise and then put his request in 6 months later faked injuries to force his move and from that moment on I don't believe he should have kicked another ball for Liverpool.

19.) 05 Mar 2018 12:30:18
It doesn't matter who he dreamed of playing for as a kid, what i mean is that he had no lifelong loyalty to Liverpool, and nor should he just because we all do. Also, that huge pay rise and 6 year contract more than paid for itself in the fee we received for him. Without that contract, we wouldn't have been able to demand half of what we got for him.

20.) 05 Mar 2018 15:14:07
Why are we still talking about Phil Coutinho?

Not like Liverpool fans to live in the past.

In all seriousness. Move one. We’re fine without him.

21.) 05 Mar 2018 16:46:22
True Navy, I should have left well alone.

22.) 05 Mar 2018 18:39:36
Nuckledragger, I've been a season ticket holder since 1983 and going the game since 1981, not sure why this is relevant to my post but there you go. My point is, we now have a certain band of supporters who are delighted to be a regular champions league team and I think this is a small team mentality. Look what's happening at arsenal at the minute, being satisfied with a top four finish and having hundreds of million in the bank are great for only one set of people FSG.

23.) 05 Mar 2018 21:15:25
You make a good point Waro, but looking at where we've been and where we seem to be going settling for a few successive seasons of champions league qualification puts us on a better footing with which to build upon. We've broken our transfer record 3 times in a row and are spending in a way to aim for the top. Arsenal have been spending to maintain position for a while. We are spending to improve consistently and who knows where the ceiling lies?

Anyone know who that guy was who chipped Edersen for our second goal, I reckon he could give Firmino some tips on how to be a striker and finish chances and whatever baloney you have against Firmino.

Guys is it not plain simple that we are going to play two left backs. Moreno and whoever comes in, Moreno is never in the right place so the second left back will be there to cover for him.

I guess it's just the FIFA manager inside all of USB that wants to sign 70 players for 1 position, I mean I signed Keita Balde Diao and Berardi in one window despite having Bernardo Silva and Sharaawy and Vela already so maybe we should take a step back. Ed have Liverpool shown any interest in the players I've mentioned?

I'm kidding lol calm down please don't shout at me.

Thanks for the reply ed, my enquiry is not so much what he's eating as it's probably all chef prepared food using best sports nutrition to make sure he gets the best protein, carbs and macros etc, it's more the timing, in the summer ramadan fasting does last longer throughout the day (something like 3am to around 9am was the par for last year) so when you say minor changes do you refer to timing or content. I think the Algeria 2014 world cup team played while fasting, I'm capable of playing while fasting but it's a killer waiting to break the fast after haha!

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - No, he will adjust the timing. Players with quirks, be they religious, fussy, odd shaped bodily parts etc., need to suck it up and get on with it if they want a workable career. Else they need to stay in Countries who run leagues that adhere to their fickleness. Clubs are typically respectful of those wishing to worship, watch Star Trek or whatever - and they provide floor space and televisions as required. What they cannot do is allow all of these odd bods to disrupt matters. Clubs are not keen on players seeking any religious (or Star Trek) related clauses in their contracts - and it does happen. Avram Grant is a great example of someone who is pragmatic, he is a keen RSP but knows that his career would have been way different if he didn’t work Shabbat. If Salah were to go to Klopp (a very, very religious guy), and said, “Kafir, I cannot play in the Champions League final, I am too weak. I think you need to respect my religion”, I suspect Klipperty would explain the truth.}

Does minor adjustment mean not eating for the most of the day ed haha, and whoo Ramadan has come early this year.

Welsh red376

{Ed002's Note - Ramadam is a movable feast, like lunch. He won't binge on spam fritters but will likely still eat the usual stuff soccer players do. Any changes will be minor.}

Agree exactly with Wiji, it's crying for him to show us his dribbling and passing skills and hold onto the ball yet he kept giving it away, I felt Mane could have done a little more to avoid otamendi but did really well not to rise up to Edersens bait, main issue above all is we were very lucky Sane's goal was ruled out for offside, it was a poor decision and punch by Karius but had it been 2-0 it may have very well been them going through, but at the end of the day it's our name that's going to be drawn out on Friday so let's party like we're invincible!
