Too more years for Pep. Jurgen must be so made up right now …. not. ?.

ND

1.) 23 Nov 2022 22:00:00
Jurgen beats Pep more often than not. Im sure he won't be phased.

2.) 24 Nov 2022 05:44:52
How's that bad?

3.) 24 Nov 2022 08:07:41
It isn’t pep that make City win all the time. It’s the financial doping.

4.) 24 Nov 2022 09:38:30
Pep maybe hanging around until Jurgen calls it a day so that Pep can come to Anfield.

Hopefully Jurgen extends his contract again so Pep has 5 years to wait for his chance.

5.) 24 Nov 2022 19:18:33
Not sure if Klopp has the better head to head over Pep in his time here but Pep has def come out on top in the league title hunts between the two.

Massive kudos to Emre Can for turning down an invite to give Turkish premier Erdogan a PR boost. Good on you Emre. 👍🏽.

ND

1.) 16 May 2018 20:33:23
That is cos he is Kurdish and not turkish. This is the same for Ozil, Gundogan, Nuri Sahin and many many more
Kurds in turky were not even allowed to say they were Kurdish, speak the language or celebrate the culture until about 13 years ago.

Even though most live in Germany, they still fear retaliation for them and their families back in turky.

Most Kurdish players who play for turky play out of fear for them not choice.

This has always been the case so not an issue connected to erdogan, but systematic practice by turkish government and the turkish culture.

2.) 16 May 2018 21:39:59
Ozil and Gundogan met him didn't they?

3.) 16 May 2018 22:21:44
Didnt know this was a political page now.

4.) 16 May 2018 23:26:07
Seosamh1990. I share your sentiment and apologies to you and any others who may have been put off my comment/ reply.

But football was long ago politicised.

It is a shame becuse it is a great sport/ activity which can bring all sorts of people together and bond.
One of the easiest ways to break down barriers amongst other positive attributes it has.

5.) 17 May 2018 05:35:46
Politics is everywhere Seosamh, and it is important as it shapes our lives to an extent. If you don't want to discuss it fine, but don't try and shut other people down.

6.) 17 May 2018 05:50:54
Thanks Redkurd. It’s good to be informed of these things.

7.) 16 May 2018 22:35:36
Yup you’re right, they did Something Red.
They met at 4 seasons hotel in London along with Cenk Tosun. No one looked like they were forced to stand there and all of them had a smile on their face. Most Kurdish players playing for turkey do not play out of fear what a load of bull lol. If you want to spread fake bad news about Turkish people go to the politics page rather then come here and lie just to get people against Turkish people. By the way Kurds were ALLOWED to say they were Kurdish so long as they went by the rules of the country like everyone else and not want Turkey attacked by the PKK a terrorist group, showing any support to
A terrorist group that has been aganst and attacked your country for many years is obviously not be greeted with a warm welcome.
Politics ain’t of this page tho. Peace love and football ✌🏼.

8.) 17 May 2018 09:24:31
Point as to why politics are not welcome is you should never believe what the media tells you. Relating to football in a way if we signed every player the media said then we would have enough players to fill 20 squads and compete in our own league lol.

9.) 17 May 2018 09:51:38
Gubdogan wore a printed shirt that read 'For my president' or something. German FA were livid.

{Ed001's Note - him, Ozil and Tosun gave Erdogan signed shirts.}

10.) 17 May 2018 10:06:05
This is not a political page folks and media is full of crap these days.
Red Kurd mate, your info is completely false though. That is just Emre Can's political preference, nothing sort of racial at all.

11.) 17 May 2018 12:51:28
As RichieTheRed says he is not Kurdish and neither are any of the players you mentioned: Özil has claimed those making claims of his heritage are wrong and his ancestors hail from Devrek: Gündoğan's family hails from Balikesir, and ; Şahin is also straight-forwardly of Turkish parentage. THEY ARE ALL GERMAN! It is unfair of you Red Kurd to spread a political agenda by using this situation. much like despotic Erdoğan used the situation to electioneer! I can understand why Germany have an issue with the footballers taking a photo such as they did. I do not like Erdoğan and I'm sure many people do not either. AND for your information many MANY people stand for freedom and democratic values in Turkey that have been lost under Erdoğan and a whole host of them are not Kurdish. You are tarring all Turks with the same brush you suggest Erdoğan is tarring Kurds. You are right however. football has been politicized for a long time. even Hitler used the draw of the game and Mussolini fixed the world cup of 1934 and 1938 even though he hated football. Let's just hope FIFA do not grant a world cup to Turkey and all should be well.

12.) 17 May 2018 09:09:40
That's correct, Alsky123. I completely agree with your sentiments.
This definitely isn't a political page, Red Kurd, so leave it out, and stop spreading this nonsense! The majority of Kurds living in Turkey get along well with locals.

Peace, love and football.
Champions League final coming up and can't come soon enough. Here's to No.6. YNWA.

13.) 18 May 2018 08:44:57
It's too late to leave politics out of football, unfortunately.

Where do you think the money for 200 million player transfers is coming from? Ticket sales? Children buying replica shirts and footballs?

Why are PSG and City suddenly global powers in football? Because of their amazing youth academies?

Why is the World Cup in Russia next month? And in Qatar after that? On merit?

Football today is huge money, and huge money is tied to geopolitics.

11 Nov 2017 17:54:38
So Couts wants the clubs to reject bids from PSG! After his behaviour over the past few months the club should flog him to whoever comes up with the biggest wad of cash, and I mean cash, not spurious ‘bonus’ payments that might never be triggered. £120million and off he goes.

ND

{Ed002's Note - it doesn’t work like that and if Liverpool screw around everyone might welcome bids from other interested parties.}

1.) 11 Nov 2017 23:50:15
And don't believe what the rags say.

2.) 12 Nov 2017 00:18:16
I think it's pretty clear he only wants Barcelona so we take what we can and move on.

3.) 12 Nov 2017 01:56:31
Den82 what do you mean we take what we can? £10 million? £15 million? This isn’t a used car this is one of the best footballers in the premier league, we take what we think he is worth and nothing less.

4.) 12 Nov 2017 03:31:36
I disagree and to suggest we would be offered £10 mil is ridiculous. I would imagine it will be around 10 times that much and we will no doubt squeeze as much as is humanly possible but at the end of the day Barcelona know that he only wants them and they will only pay what they think he is worth to them.

5.) 12 Nov 2017 05:29:31
Well if we are talking about being ridiculous maybe you shouldn’t suggest we should ‘take what we can’ for a player that we valued at over £120 million. Do we just give in and let Coutinho hold us to ransom because he only wants to join one club? If Liverpool is bigger than any player surely we can’t allow Coutinho to bully us into getting his way on his terms. We should sell him but only for an amount that the club deem acceptable.

6.) 12 Nov 2017 06:46:59
I thought Coutinho wan to play w Neymar. Now Neymar is in PSG coutinho should go there. May the Sheikh offer Liverpool 150mil pound! Get the $ and we dump it on GK, 1 CB and 1 striker. Off load the deadwood.

7.) 12 Nov 2017 07:25:09
It seems unlikely FSG is going to be bullied into accepting a ridiculously low sum, and Barcelona probably aren't going to be bullied into paying over the odds for someone they know wants to leave for them.

Lets just accept what we think is a reasonable figure and allows us to replace him with similar quality and move on. I don’t think that's 150m but neither should we accept less than lukaku or Pogba so around 100m would me more than enough IMO considering few players go for over 70m.

8.) 12 Nov 2017 08:37:22
Obviously the player will get what he wants, in his move to Barcelona but FSG has to make sure we get every penny we want from Barca. Nothing less will be acceptable and no pathetic player exchange either, unless they give us Messi 😂.

9.) 12 Nov 2017 08:56:04
Relaxlabrudder - Why should we buy a keeper with the money when Karius and Ward haven't had their time to prove themselves? we don't need a keeper we need to drop Mignolet that's all, buying another keeper would be forcing Ward and/ or Karius straight out the door without their chance, that'd make us look absolutely wonderful wouldn't it. We don't need a striker either. Yes we do need a CB and possible a Couts replacement in Jan/ Summer. But that's as far as it goes.

10.) 12 Nov 2017 09:56:57
Of course we need a keeper. Klopp doesn't want to play Karius or Ward in the premier league. If he did then they would be playing it's as simple as that. It's not to protect Karius as Mignolet gets pelters every week. How important is a keeper to a team that wants to challenge. Well look at De Gea, Courtouis, Cech and Lloris, they are all top class keepers or better and are easily in the top 10 keepers in the world. City had Bravo in net last season and they were a shambles. Look at them now this season after replacing him. As much as I would like Ward and Karius to work it they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above. The less said on Mignolet the better.

11.) 12 Nov 2017 10:40:32
Jayden I understand what your saying but you say 'As much as I would like Ward and Karius to work it they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above. ' How would we know that since they've been give no chance? they need to be thrown in mate before we can say thing's like 'they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above'

12.) 12 Nov 2017 10:49:17
Corleone because If they were the standard of the keepers named above they would have given Klopp no other choice but to play them and as he's not playing them there would be managers beating down our doors to sign them. This is not me saying their bad keepers but saying they are nowhere near the level of the 4 and I'd bet my mortgage on that.

13.) 12 Nov 2017 09:56:11
What you mean by"screw around"Ed?

{Ed002's Note - If they have financial expectations beyond what Barcelona will pay.}

14.) 12 Nov 2017 11:58:17
Why would he ask the club to reject a bid from PSG? even if the club accepted a bid it doesn't mean that he has to go there.

15.) 12 Nov 2017 13:48:47
I like Coutinho but Im at the point where I think its over he just needs to go i agree the club should get the best deal they can for him but come 1st Feb. he should be a Barcelona player or whoever i just don't care now a good solid offer, I don't ind addons as long as they aren't stupid like ballon dor and that

adeus e obrigado pelas lembranças e a melhor sorte no futuro.

16.) 12 Nov 2017 12:49:25
Ok thank you.

17.) 12 Nov 2017 12:56:42
"Take what we can? "and "screw around? ". if it was us wanting to buy a player Ed002 would be saying we should pay whatever the asking price is and all the moaners would be saying we should just hurry up and pay the asking price. ala Salah this summer.

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt you would find me saying such things. Barcelona will make a low offer including another player - time will quickly come where they turn to someone else on their list.}

18.) 12 Nov 2017 16:41:20
I’d hope the club turned down Barca’s lowball offer, there isn’t a player on their release list that would improve our starting 11. End of story.

19.) 13 Nov 2017 06:34:36
Barcelona didn’t just take what they can when they sold Neymar. If they can’t afford the asking price then walk away. If I walk into a car Showroom selling Austin Martin’s would they just take what they can purely because I want the vehicle but can’t affford it?

We’ve seen the TV deals inflate the price of players over the last few years, you just need to look at average players cost £40m

The clubs are happy to take the money.

20.) 13 Nov 2017 08:05:08
Dennis, i like your sentiments. However the third best player in the world, Luis Suarez, is on their outs list!

Pretty sure he improves any team in world football. If he hadn't acted how he did before, we'd be mad to reject him. With his behaviour considered though, even his world class talents don't seem like enough to offset the embarassment he brings!

21.) 12 Nov 2017 22:02:09
Ed I take it the player is likely Rafinha?

{Ed002's Note - They are talking to another side about Rafinha, Andre Gomes is more likely initially.}

22.) 15 Nov 2017 06:36:07
The problem is you can't tell with this story if it is just the media making stuff up to have something to write, player/ family/ agent to be self serving tools or Barcelona leaking it to get what they want. After previous events all 3 are equally possible. As someone said why does he need to say don't entertain offers and why does it need to be public.

29 Aug 2023 18:31:34
VVD just charged by FA for improper conduct, not leaving the pitch when sent off. Nothing like making a bad thing worse huh. Right or wrong, he wasn’t going to win that particular spat. Down to three centre halves now for a few matches - three or even four?

ND

1.) 29 Aug 2023 18:35:16
Maybe he should’ve elbowed the referee in the face instead of saying mean words to him and hurting his little feelings. Apparently that’s allowed, just ask Andy Robertson.

2.) 29 Aug 2023 18:40:29
Bit of a pain but he only has himself to blame. I don't advocate buying players to cover suspensions but given VVDs loss of form over the past 12 months I really think this is the point where we admit that we probably need a new first choice CB more than we need another midfielder (unless there is money for both positions) .

3.) 29 Aug 2023 18:44:56
To be fair all clubs players and managers were told of the new rules coming in.
For me it was a really harsh red. Even if it was a utd player id think the same.
The only pineapple was big virg just not walking away. Should have took it on the chin and wouldn't find himself in this mess.
Hopefully he learns from this and hopefully the refs and var improve.

4.) 29 Aug 2023 19:17:06
All that stuff could have been avoided by VVD, tbf. Now I do not like the way the 4th official was trying to lead VVD off the pitch and he told him to not touch him. Tempers are already flairing up so not sure why he was trying to touch or lead him to the changing room. It's as if he was trying to trigger VVD to get a reaction.

5.) 29 Aug 2023 20:32:48
Yeah officials have no right to touch the players just as players can't touch them. Double standard. Plus Virgil is seething and he knows what to do. Best left alone.

6.) 30 Aug 2023 03:36:43
If referees want respect, they aren’t going to get it by banning criticism of their atrocious decisions like tinpot little dictators. Van Dijk, though his sending off was probably correct, had every right to a) be annoyed at the appalling officiating unfolding, and b) tell the official not to touch him.
And no, Van Dijk doesn’t “only have himself to blame” - it is perfectly normal to get annoyed at blatant injustice (the overall refereeing) . Referees will never get people’s respect while their performances are so bad and they try every trick in the book to avoid being criticized for them.

02 Dec 2022 17:14:31
Uraguay out of WC so hopefully Darwin back rested and in one piece when we restart. Watching the matches just hoping none of our guys get crocked.

ND

{Ed025's Note - you bet your life hes rested ND, done absolutely nothing in the 3 games he played, i must say my view that he is the new andy carroll ....is a terrible insult to andy carroll..

1.) 02 Dec 2022 17:40:11
Yeah, I was trying not to think like that but there’s a grain of truth there. He had looked ok every now and again but overall not a lot to write home about. Hopefully he might kick on because we so don’t need another AC ?.

2.) 02 Dec 2022 18:17:11
Ed0025 people in glass houses mate. If my teams striker was wearing girl school uniforms on front cover of magazines id probably resist the urge to dish it out ??.

{Ed025's Note - i thought DCL looked pretty tasty JK, now if i had a fetish for clowns then darwin would be top of my list i imagine mate.. :)

3.) 02 Dec 2022 19:13:17
Ed0025 I believe Gilfi and also thought he looked pretty tasty ??.

No way is this comment getting through the vetting but I hope it’s given you a laugh mate.

4.) 02 Dec 2022 19:14:47
What DCL wears is of nobody else's concern. Of real concern should be the fact Nunez has more goals this season than DCL has this season and last season. Not bad for a so called new Andy Carroll.

5.) 02 Dec 2022 19:37:22
While Nunez was playing in a World Cup DCL, Maupay, Iwobi, Gray and Gordon were. Decent for the new AC.

6.) 02 Dec 2022 20:07:54
Nunez had a terrible tournament, but still better than KDB who looked like he had never even played the game before. The WC means nothing in terms of the rest of the season.

7.) 02 Dec 2022 22:12:27
Darwin is like a headless donkey on LSD.

8.) 02 Dec 2022 22:14:59
No one’s arsed about his World Cup - he started scoring goals for the reds before the WC….

9.) 03 Dec 2022 07:47:42
World Cup is not the pinnacle of football it’s made out to be
Nunez has got a lot to learn in the game mainly a better 1st touch but it’s plain to see their is a player their mate.

10.) 03 Dec 2022 09:33:32
stumbled and bumbled his useless ass to 9 goals and 2 assists in 16 appearances. Let's hope this uselessness continues while he develops.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. All this Andy Carroll stuff just shows people have no idea about footie as there is absolutely no comparison in their style of play. Carroll wanted to play like an old school target man, to rough up centre-backs by playing tight on them and backing into them and taking the ball in. Much as I can't stand the guy, he also had a very decent touch on him..... when sober. Nunez is a completely different type, he wants to use pace to get in behind defenders and at the goalkeeper. If anyone is a comparison to him in terms of centre-forwards, it would be Lukaku, big, strong but wanting balls to run onto rather than playing as target men and holding it up. Again not a good comparison, but much, much closer than Andy Carroll.}

11.) 03 Dec 2022 09:44:51
It’s Nunez’s decision making that worries me slightly and obviously his finishing. At least he is getting into the positions now he just need to show a lot more class at the end.

{Ed001's Note - decision making is what experience usually improves. So that should not be too much of a worry.}

12.) 03 Dec 2022 10:49:01
Seeing Nunez in the flesh is like watching a different player to what you see on the tv screen. His movement and speed is exceptional and a tv camera can only catch so much of that.

13.) 03 Dec 2022 12:18:36
What is worrying is Nunez getting a yellow card for scuffing the penalty spot prior to Ghana’s penalty, that’s just so stupid, looks like he’s got some of Suarez personality in him, hopefully a Klopp and the coaches can knock that out of him.

14.) 02 Dec 2022 21:28:38
WC / international form is absolutely no basis for whether a player is good or not and I reckon Ed025 is intelligent to know that. He’s on the wind up lads and you’re all biting!

{Ed025's Note - and I didn’t even been a worm Westwood .. ?

15.) 03 Dec 2022 09:52:33
I for one like Ed025's banter of our players, they are always a very refreshing and entertaining read and currently the most entertaining thing on here. I hope he continues to post his witty comments?.

{Ed025's Note - you could put good money on that Mcgoveb mate.. ?

16.) 03 Dec 2022 11:58:33
To be fair to Ed025 I think the comparison is more to do with their appearance and the slightly ungainly touch and running style.
Thankfully Darwin is about 10 times quicker.

{Ed025's Note - that’s why I think he is more suited to the circus than the prem juicer mate.. ?

17.) 03 Dec 2022 14:15:42
I just think Uruguay have too much of shade of atletico.

18.) 04 Dec 2022 07:37:59
But how did he played so well against Liverpool and impressed out od Klopp to splash 100mil on him?

{Ed025's Note - maybe one of the scouts is Fred carno mate.. ?

19.) 05 Dec 2022 12:34:13
That Uruguay team would make Mbappe look average. The Uruguayan manager would make Sam Allardyce look like Guardiola. Two quality midfielders in Valverde and Bentancour, and he by-passed them by hoofing it long all the time. Nunez shouldn’t be judged in the context of how he performs for them.

17 Nov 2022 19:35:29
Gutted for Sadio - knee op required - after all he did to get his country to the World Cup. Unfortunate is a massive understatement.

ND

1.) 17 Nov 2022 19:45:39
Extremely sad to hear. I loved Mane at the club.

I still can’t get my head around the fact only 7 of our squad are there and only 2-3 likely to be starters.

World Cup in Nov is actually a blessing in disguise for us with our current injuries. If this World Cup was in the summer then we would have come away from playing every game in the season to a World Cup, shortened pre season and then a full domestic campaign.

This break could propel us when the season resumes. But only time will tell.

2.) 17 Nov 2022 19:48:05
Yes, feel really bad for him. Hope he comes back stronger and scores lot of goals (just not against us! )

3.) 18 Nov 2022 11:08:41
My heart weeps for him. Knkuknku had to pull out of the WC as well after getting injured in the final training session for Les Bleus. Moroccan Amine Ahrit of Marselle blew his knee out last Sun in the last game before the WC. Real hard times for these players and others under the same circumstances.

22 Oct 2022 11:34:01
No Nunez in the team today. Elliot, Jones, Fab in the middle.

ND

26 Sep 2022 11:25:07
Feel sorry for Trent that he’s been left out of the England squad for the loss against Germany, because any player would like to play for their country. However, I’m delighted because that’s one less of our players to worry about getting injured for the rest of the international interruption. Be quite novel to see the Reds back in action on the 1st.

ND

1.) 26 Sep 2022 12:01:56
Who cares? Hopefully the Brazilian manager, and any other country we've players with who are likely to go to Qatar with, decides the same as Southgate.

2.) 26 Sep 2022 12:52:57
Gareth Southgate is a good guy I am sure and he is ideally suited to be on some FA committee helping develop kids football facilities but he should be no way involved in coaching/ managing a professional football team .

He is totally inept. The less contact he has with any LFC players the better. England seem to be woeful right now…though I have to admit I don’t actually watch them these days.

3.) 26 Sep 2022 13:50:31
Gareth Sidegate is a straight up ? end. He has no clue what to do with England, which is fine but when it affects our players is not fine. Playing Maguire and bringing on Shaw. Two players who haven’t played for their club and one of which is in worse form than Trent. But he wants to not give Trent a chance against Italy then drop him completely from the squad against Germany. Trent needs to improve, yes we know that. But in a back 3, which England play. I feel he would offer more than Reece James. Also, everyone going on about Trent’s defending forget how suspect James was in a back 4, not to mention Walker is also suspect in defending. However, Walker has that raw pace that gets him out of trouble most of the time.

4.) 26 Sep 2022 14:04:02
The choice of players the man has at his disposal is almost criminal yet he is so inept he can’t do anything with them. We fluked our way through a tournament and he seems to believe his own hype. It would be nice to see England win something but with him at the helm it will never happen.

5.) 26 Sep 2022 14:28:04
I’m not fussed to be honest. Missing a pointless international and preventing the inevitable yet avoidable injury that normally happens on these things is a win for us.

6.) 26 Sep 2022 15:05:48
Who cares about England, as long as he is firing on Sat, hopefully he as a long rest in November and December as well.

7.) 26 Sep 2022 15:11:31
I fully believe we would have won the Euro's with another manager in chance. Anyone who has some form of tactical intelligence would have walked that tournament with the talent this England squad has at their disposal.

Looking forward to watching us with 5 at the back and 2 holding midfielders against Iran.

8.) 26 Sep 2022 16:00:57
To be fair, Trent is lucky to be playing for us at the minute. He's been woeful this season and as it stands he doesn't have a hope of going to the World Cup. I personally have no interest in international football, but feel sorry for him as they are the pinnacle of a players career. But, the fact of the matter is, there are players better than him at the moment.

9.) 26 Sep 2022 17:03:44
Southgate had the euros in his grasp but he decided to make a point of bringing on black players who had been abused then ask them to take a penalty to make himself out as Martin luther king it back fired the two players were left traumatised still got abused even more than before and now he is doing a simular thing with maguire and shaw who have been equally abused by fans . This is not in his remit it is to win games play the players in form in correct positions leaving the racial abuse to sports scientists and the FA . Trent has not been playing well for a while now and has not deserved his place in the team but he should be in the squad . Mr Southgate is digging his own grave for me .

10.) 26 Sep 2022 17:32:14
Last time England gave Trent a kick in the arse it was great for LFC!
Trent ha no right to play for England as he’s been poor this season so another jolt might be good for him!

11.) 26 Sep 2022 18:04:55
I've always defended Trents ability to defend. I stand by it too. He absolutely can defend, and to a very good standard.

However, his performances have looked lazy this season and he's been partially at fault for about 5 goals already. For once, Southgate is right. Trent on current form is probably behind James and Trippier. With Walker going as a centre back it makes absolutely no sense to shoehorn Trent into the squad.

Hopefully it's a real kick up the backside. Trent could be generational if he stops coasting through games and actually concentrates/ tries for 90 minutes.

{Ed025's Note - spot on MK..

12.) 26 Sep 2022 16:55:17
In better form maybe Rome1977, not better than him.

13.) 26 Sep 2022 18:30:00
I agree Trent is a big reason why we have been so poor this season. A lot of it has been Laziness which is unforgivable. He is very very lucky to start for us atm. Hopefully he will up his game starting at the weekend.

{Ed025's Note - plans are in place to widen the doorways mark. So that trents head will fit through them mate.. ?

14.) 26 Sep 2022 18:34:22
Trent has been poor this season and although in the past he's been left out while been in world class form now he hasn't so might give him a wake up call kick up the backside can be a good thing.

15.) 26 Sep 2022 18:40:34
I don't care if Trent play's for England but Southgate is continuing to pick a number of players, like Maguire and Shaw who have been worse that Trent for a longer period of time. Even when Trent was getting voted into numerous PFA teams of the year Southgate never made him a regular for England so the poor form excuse doesn't wash with me. The truth is Southgate has never trusted Trent and has never known how to use him properly.

{Ed025's Note - they should play him in goal thunderbird. His head would block out most of the goal.. ?

16.) 26 Sep 2022 18:44:14
MK. Trent has been lazy of late, yes. However, are we not going to mention the system and tactics being deployed? Let’s tell the whole picture if we are going to discuss it. Being asked to bomb forward at will with absolutely no plan to counteract it is a recipe for disaster. Majority of right backs playing in our system would be exposed. Again, I am not excusing his sauntering around the pitch which we have seen this season, as there is simply no excuse for that. So on that basis he deserved to be dropped but my issue is even before this drop in form he has never played him. Coupled with the fact he decides to play Maguire and Shaw is a contradiction if ever Iv seen one. Also, why take him away on the international break if he had no intentions of playing him. You have the most creative full back in recent history but no clue how to use him to his true potential. Reece James is a good full back but he is not more creative than Trent and that’s what England needs. My frustrations are I want Trent to be playing in the World Cup, showcasing just how good he really is because I know this England fiasco must be getting to him. Anyways, enough of the boring internationals. bring on the return of the League!

{Ed025's Note - amen to that alonso..

17.) 26 Sep 2022 18:53:02
He’s been going downhill since he got that haircut. Probably flopping about in his eyes and that’s why he can’t win a header at the back stick.

18.) 26 Sep 2022 19:12:44
Ed25. you do make me lol. Are people inside the game saying trent has got a little big for his boots?

{Ed025's Note - very much so marty. But all is not lost mate and deep down I think he is a decent lad But he does need to knuckle down and be more of a team player. He has not become a bad player overnight he just needs to focus more and become the player we all know he can be..

19.) 26 Sep 2022 19:30:26
There are no excuses for Trent’s recent performances. It’s not the system, most of the time the goals have been scored because he has been bullied or worse not followed his man. He needed a kick up the arse so maybe he will now realise he has to work hard and not just pose about.

20.) 26 Sep 2022 19:30:27
he has been going downhill since he has been cutting inside, its tried, it didn't work, go back to bombing down the wings and creating there allowing for mo to come more inside where he is more effective.

21.) 26 Sep 2022 20:33:30
Has there been anything happen in particular eds with trent? Or just what you've heard?

{Ed025's Note - just lost his focus mate..

22.) 26 Sep 2022 20:36:06
Ed025 I think are two most talented defenders VVD and Trent have been absolutely awful. I don’t get the tactical change where Trent seems to be attacking more centrally and Mo staying out wide don’t think that’s helping the team but the effort by VVD and Trent in some games has been criminal Trent just jogging back if you can even call it a jog at times and VVD refusal to challenge attackers has been dreadful. Robertson has not been great but at least he gives his all every time his on the pitch.

{Ed025's Note - there seems to be a complacency issue with some of the team grino. I agree that the formation change has not helped but there is no excuse for switching off at this level mate..

23.) 26 Sep 2022 21:15:12
On the upside England may well get an attack minded manager after this tonight. What a total shambles.

24.) 26 Sep 2022 22:51:46
Ed25, It doesn’t matter how well Trent is playing, itch’s clear that Southgate doesn’t want him cos he simply does not know what to do with a great overall player that Trent is. It’s pretty myopic from dole on here to think that Trent does not deserve to be picked due to poor form this season whereas Maguire and Shaw who have been dire since last season and still get picked to start. See where the problem is?

And so that should tell you that the double standards and favouritism at play here by a coward of a manager who shifts the goalposts whenever it suits him regarding Trent. He picks him knowing he won’t play him cos he doesn’t have to deal with the possible blowback of not picking him outright. It’s a witch hunt against him at this point, imo.

IMO, Trent is just a great player going thru a bad patch. It happens to the best of them. He’s a top lad and brilliant footballer. He’ll bounce back. I know he wants to play for his country but that’s not under his control esp with a dishonest and coward of a manager who lacks the guts to simply tell him to his face he does not fit into his plans.

{Ed025's Note - I agree that he doesn’t know how to use him oli. The Wally in a waistcoat has not got a clue mate. Trent is a precocious talent who may fare better under a manager who knows what he is doing. It’s a good job Trent is playing like a non league player at the moment so will not be involved..

25.) 27 Sep 2022 03:49:21
I think for the past two or three years the greater part of the team has picked itself.

Ali

TAA
Joel
VVD
Robbo

Hendo
Fabs
X

Sadio
Bobby
Mo

The pressure to perform was mostly self generated and they worked as a unit to achieve the goal.

I still think, with the obvious exception of Sadio, that the rest (perhaps not Joel) are walk up starters, as they mostly assume they have no ‘real’ competition. Trent’s problem is that he has achieved everything at at a young age (especially as he has had everybody telling him for about 3 or 4 years that he’s God’s gift to footy he might be just believing his own press a little bit. W’ll see but at heart he seems like a reasonably sensible lad, so I wouldn’t give up hope on him just yet.

To be honest I think there are one or two others who might have similar issues at the moment, certainly Virgil and Mo spring to mind.

26.) 27 Sep 2022 18:28:48
It'll be another heartbreaker for Trent but he's been off the pace defensively all season and only himself to blame. He's been extremely casual with no sense of urgency defensively this season. He looks as tho he just can't be arsed.

27.) 27 Sep 2022 18:11:04
“The Wally in a Waistcoat”. Now they got me in stitches, ED25. You still got it, man. Seriously tho, that’s my thing. Instead of having the guts to just say what decal know as in, Trent does not fit in his plans, he waffles around the place and playing games with him and Lessing with his mind. I’m with you. Southgate doesn’t deserve Trent so it’s good he won’t be involved cos he has to work on getting better.

I think the reason he won’t be honest with him is cos he knows the media will come down on him and demand he explain how and why a talent like him doesn’t fit in his plans. Not sure The Wally in a Waistcoat wants to have that conversation.

{Ed025's Note - southgate is so negative oli and sets up his teams not to lose rather than as an attacking force, thats not trents bag really as his first instinct is to get forward and supply crosses but that does not fit in with the southgate ethos mate, to be honest i think hes better out of national scene until we get a manager with a positive attitude or he morphs into a midfielder, just my opinion of course..

Someone’s going to get a roasting for putting up such lean information. Time to chop off this rumour and grill the club.

Well I’m gutted. Was looking forward to seeing him play before probably leaving in the summer. He’s a glorious player to watch but his body just can’t seem to sustain the action. At least we saw flashes of his brilliance. We’ll save a few quid that hopefully goes towards younger, fitter players. Will miss him though.

Just heard - absolutely gutted but at the same time so thankful for all that he brought us, sparkling entertaining football, and a sackful of trophies. Thank you Jurgen and good luck with whatever you do next.

As Ed002 rightly said, tv in any form can’t show 3pm Saturday matches. It was a rule put into place to protect principally clubs below the top division who might have their attendances reduced by the showing of a match at the same time. Understandable but slightly frustrating for us.
More frustrating is the ridiculous 12:30 Saturday kickoffs after international breaks - bad for players and bad for the actual game. The Prem is poor at protecting its own product at times and this is o E if them.
