So what are the opinions on Gerrard taking over as 1st team manager one day?

Would love to see it! Would be distraught if it didn't work out though and he got the sack and had to manage elsewhere.

Hope he spends a long time learning what's what with the youth team before taking over one day in 5 years or so.

If he's the best man for the job then why not.
At present he has a lot to prove as a manager.

2.) 05 Oct 2017 23:22:56
His current position is a great starting point, I'd expect should he want to manage the first team of Liverpool, to go and manage a championship club or 2 for a few years to get some experience behind him. I'd love to see him as manager in the future, but I think it's a while off just yet. To be honest, if he was offered the job tomorrow I think he;d decline, he must know himself he isn't ready yet.

3.) 06 Oct 2017 08:05:40
He needs to learn to pull his head out of his own backside first.

4.) 06 Oct 2017 09:18:56
Doubt he will ever make it as a top manager, he's not a nice person with a short fuse.

5.) 06 Oct 2017 13:28:37
Even fergie was not really known as nice person! And with a short fuse too . Not every manager needs to be Ancelotti.

6.) 06 Oct 2017 13:39:17
You mean like Alex Ferguson Mikey?

7.) 06 Oct 2017 14:18:52
I would give him the chance once there is no one in the playing squad that he has played with.

Wish clubs would give managers time like Utd did with Fergie. I know the game has changed but constant sackings don't seem to offer years of success. Consistency is hard to achieve with new managers every 2/ 3 years.

8.) 06 Oct 2017 16:08:27
Jordz, that was another time unfortunately. Now with the high stakes involved, managers are now either given 4 games to impress. And the media do a great job of mounting all types of pressure on them so they can get them sacked. Look at what they did to De Boer (tho not a fan) . That was disgraceful.

They are trying to do the same thing to Klopp just cos he lost 2 out of 13 games in all comps. this season and cos we are having a sticky patch 7 games into the PL season. So much for managers being given enough time in this climate.

22 Sep 2017 19:32:22
Dont get why Harry Wilson hasn't been given a chance yet.

He had an unbelievable season last year, something like 20odd goes and assists. Doesn't seem like he's ever even considered for first team action. What's up!?

GeorgeT

1.) 22 Sep 2017 19:41:04
*goals

28 goals for the U23s last season!

{Ed025's Note - the step up is massive george, im sure if he was deemed good enough then he would be given the chance, maybe he needs more time mate?..

2.) 22 Sep 2017 20:40:29
he's scored a hatrick for the u23s tonight.

3.) 22 Sep 2017 21:22:54
Just feel like if a player can contribute that many goals then surely he should get some game time, worried he's going to drift away into the championship.

{Ed025's Note - the coaches see him day in day out george, they will know when and if he is ready mate..

4.) 22 Sep 2017 22:47:05
I've decided that I know more than the coaches. I'll be writing a strongly worded letter to someone important!

5.) 23 Sep 2017 02:39:38
I remember he was out of whole season two seasons before, and was great when came back last season. May be klopp would take him preseason but he injured again.

6.) 23 Sep 2017 07:57:57
Im not saying he isn't good enough, but there are plenty of players who shine in youth football, but can't make it at senior level. Bojan scored more than Messi at youth level, just saying.

01 Sep 2017 09:46:25
Window still open in Spain so could still sell some players today!

Fingers crossed ssomeone takes Markovic off our hands! Maybe Migs can go also. Poor Ward deserves better than to be 3rd choice!

If Couts goes then we already have the Welsh Messi to replace him. Ben Woodburn!

GeorgeT

1.) 01 Sep 2017 10:10:07
I really want Woodburn to get a good opportunity this season think he will grow to be a fantastic player.

2.) 01 Sep 2017 10:12:54
Ah the welsh Messi. I seem to recall that been said of Joe Allen.

3.) 01 Sep 2017 10:17:14
Woodburn will get chances this season, I just doubt it will be in midfield. Probably in the front 3 since Origi and Kent have gone out on loan and Sturridge is injury prone.

4.) 01 Sep 2017 10:44:39
Wasn't Joe Allen the Welsh Pirlo? The same Joe Allen who was in the team of the tournament at the Euros.

5.) 01 Sep 2017 11:26:12
It was the Welsh Xavi, wasn't it?

6.) 01 Sep 2017 11:54:09
What makes you think Ward is better than Migs? And when Karius is in a Liverpool shirt has he been really any better than Migs?
Klipperty Klopp sees them in training everyday. You cannot compare the form of Karius in German and Ward's form in Scotland with the pressures of must win every game demands of Liverpool in the Premier League.

7.) 01 Sep 2017 14:12:30
Yep that was it Toxxa, the Welsh Xavi.

iconicred Ward is being judged in helping Huddersfield get promotion to the EPL not on what he did 2 years ago. He's also about 6 years younger than Migs and has room to develop. I don't think anyone knows whether or not he will be better but we'd like to see him have a go.

Coutinho stories driving me mad!

Lots of reports saying a fee agreed with Barca, but also other reports and Peter Moore saying he's staying!

Fingers crossed he stays. He's world class and can help take us to the next level. don't care that he wanted Barca, if he stays I will be chuffed!

GeorgeT

1.) 30 Aug 2017 11:44:04
First rule about football transfers, don't believe a word anyone says.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 11:55:51
We will all be put out of our misery come 11pm tmrw.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 12:01:20
IMO:

No Lemar or Ox = Couts stays
Yes Lemar and/ or Ox = Couts goes

I know they may have not been connected as direct Couts replacements when first considered but I believe at this late stage that will have changed. I also don't believe FSG are too impressed with Couts 'Brazilian healing miracle' and may want to show who is boss if we don't get a suitable replacement.

Anyone else catch who Liverpool sent to the CL draw?

Ian Rush and the club secretary, neither of which have any role or say in transfers. Just in case Barcelona thought they could arrange a quick chat like they did with Dortmund.

Also, Gullem Ballague has said that Barcelona cannot afford Dembele, Couts, and one of their other targets such as Seri or a CB. He's usually a very good source for Barcelona or Madrid info.

Eds or anyone, any reason to believe that Dembele's move may end further moves for Couts?

Fingers crossed its the case, I think Couts will stay anyway but I'd rather have the move called off now so the player can start to focus on Liverpool than to wait another week for the window to shut.

GeorgeT

1.) 24 Aug 2017 18:30:13
Gullem Ballague knows nothing. The Coutinho saga has shown him up as a complete idiot, he has been on sky sports changing his stance everyday for about two weeks. If he toldme the sun was going to rise tomorrow I'd have trouble believing him.

2.) 24 Aug 2017 18:43:09
Apparently dembele to Barcelona done.

3.) 24 Aug 2017 18:46:11
Lol okay never mind then.

In other news, Couts had a haircut in Liverpool yesterday. Rumour is that half way through the cut the barber threatened to shave a knob in the back of his head if he didn't agree to stay. Hair looks normal to me so looks like that's confirmation that he'll stay.

Kind of made that up but that's what rumour sites are for!

4.) 24 Aug 2017 19:32:04
George - Balague is like a puppet. I mean he says Barcelona cannot afford Dembele, Coutinho and Seri. Well I doubt Barcelona would buy Seri if they go Coutinho. Then he messed up saying Coutinho is a Neymar replacement. Dybala is the player who Barcelona want to replace Neymar. Veratti they wanted to replace Iniesta, Coutinho 2nd option. Dembele was just an extra player they want.

Financially wise, Barcelona has just received £200m in a lump sum, potentially more with other player sales. So with Coutinho probably costing £25m upfront, same with Dembele. It leaves plenty of room surely.

I'd have Reina, Carra, Hyypia, Gerrard, and Alonso all on the backroom team!

Maybe Luis Garcia as well? And Crouch?

One day when I'm in charge.

GeorgeT

{Ed025's Note - you will have to fight me and harry for it george..

really isn't the end of the world.

Our team is very good, only thing we were missing is a quality CB but it seems like the club has really worked hard so far and have been prepared to spend a lot of money!

who knows, maybe some magic will happen in the last few hours of the window. not the end of the world though!

Such a good way for an amateur team to build a fanbase! Must be a smart chap.

This has reminded me of United London FC. Fans don't quite help out with transfers but they do pick the starting line up each week through the website.

Imagine if Liverpool picked the line up from this site every week! Ward and Solanke would play every game and Klavan would probably have been put down.

GeorgeT

{Ed001's Note - I know the guy who started that, Mark, nice fella and he has worked incredibly hard to get that working.}

Would be nice to see Woodburn or Wilson given a shot but I doubt it'll happen.

Maybe Morneo or TAA could move up into one of the offensive wide positions?

In theory, we should have plenty of options so I really hope someone steps up and tries to make the spot in the team their own. Even if it's AOC or Milner!

Makelele (sure he could still do a job), Kante, Lucas Lieva (because he's a good boy! )

Are there many old school Makelele type DMs around? Who just sit deep, win a lot of tackles/ interceptions, and play an easy pass?

Normally we do well against the big boys but how the hell is our defense going to manage with Lukaku and then the pace of players like Rashford and Martial. Eek.

Need a bit of Anfield magic!
