Apparently we are interested in Matt Hale.
Great signing and would save us significant sums of money in the long run
Await another official complaint.

AggerDo

1.) 27 Jun 2017 23:24:27
Who is Mattie Hale?

2.) 28 Jun 2017 06:09:38
He runs the Academy for Southampton.

3.) 28 Jun 2017 10:10:58
Must have been tapped up then.

Quick snippet for fellow Reds.

Heard from an HP that Clyne is being investigated by HMRC.

AggerDo

1.) 03 Apr 2017 22:14:15
He's wealthy = they'll let him off.

2.) 03 Apr 2017 22:52:42
He managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the entire English media, so the muppets at HMRC should be a piece of cake ;)

3.) 04 Apr 2017 22:00:41
On the ball MK

He is being investigated for fraudulently obtaining monies.

I hope some if the transfer fees we have paid in past were largely made up if winning the EPL and completing a treble.

Question for the Eds
How many new users for the LFC pages do you get a day?

My guess must be that it's a significant volume?

Can be the only reason why you get asked the same stuff, over-and-over again!

By the way- any change of VvD to LFC?

AggerDo

{Ed002's Note - Quite a few it seems.}

Eds and fellow reds
A question for you over CB position.
If we were to buy a new CB from an EPL club:
A) which club?
B) which player?

I have my thoughts on it, in that instead of looking for someone who is able to play out from the back etc we need someone who is happiest when defending and used to playing in a well-drilled back 4.

AggerDo

1.) 13 Aug 2017 11:21:43
We need someone who is used to defending in a haphazard clueless back 4 of strangers.

Players who can play well in a well drilled back 4 include Lovren and Matip (at their former clubs)

2.) 13 Aug 2017 11:47:08
Names Ron. Without names that's an easy post 😉

I jest buddy, from only Prem clubs, my pick would be Kompany but obviously this is hypothetical. More realistically I'd take someone like Fonte. He actually made Lovren look a good player.

3.) 13 Aug 2017 11:58:20
My unrealistic choice would be Alderweireld, realistic would be Ben Mee.

4.) 13 Aug 2017 12:10:35
VVD. He Wants to play for Liverpool, he's one of the best CB in the prem.

5.) 13 Aug 2017 12:41:44
ben gibson anyone?

6.) 13 Aug 2017 13:03:30
Even Maldini won't help us if we keep playing the crap defensive setup we have at set pieces. It's not even about zonal marking anymore as that system can work provided the players are well drilled, communicate well, can adapt to avoid mismatches (which is why Firmino should have been nowhere near the 6 yard box on that first corner), attack headers instead of reacting after the opposition heads the ball into the net and so on. If you are are not doing any of that then you can have the legendary AC Milan backline of Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini and Tasotti and we will still concede.

7.) 13 Aug 2017 14:04:30
Alderwield and vvd but I'm not greedy 😂😂😂.

12 Aug 2017 14:48:03
Really tough game Watford away.

I can see Chelsea, Spurs, Utd, City and Arsenal all going there and dropping points.

AggerDo

1.) 12 Aug 2017 14:49:56
Hope your being sarcastic.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 14:51:26
Watford were really well setup. Marco Silva does not seem like a flash in the pan.

I was expecting no points when looking at the first half as they were bossing us.

Draw a fair result. 1 point better than nothing.

3.) 12 Aug 2017 14:53:14
Each of those clubs will give Watford a whopping. Arsenal and City have too much firepower and the other teams actually have defenders who can defend.

4.) 12 Aug 2017 14:55:30
I hope I'm not, otherwise we will drop 2pts on all of them.

5.) 12 Aug 2017 14:58:45
Ah please, Watford were there for the taking and we yet conspired to screw it up with shambolic defending.

07 Aug 2017 08:38:37
My take on Coutinho to Barca.

It is simply business. Football is bug business and our owners are business people.

We bought a player, with potential, for a fee of £8.5 m and could sell him for over 10x that amount.

The club has to maintain it's ability to operate financially. We could sell Couts and buy 2/ 3 other players and go again.

The way some post on here, we would keep Couts, buy more to go around him and compete for the title.

Nice idea. Remember H&G?

We have to balance our need to compete for the title with the realisation we are a business.

If Couts wants to go, thank you for your efforts, good luck and we look forward to your replacement.

If he does want to go, and it's a good business case, no-one should be hammering our owners.

1.) 07 Aug 2017 08:46:58
If you were talking about Ernst and Young or Morgan Stanley, you'd resonate with a lot more people. But we aren't, we are a football club whose sole purpose is to provide entertainment for a fanbase and a temporary escape from the everyday difficulties of life.
You are absolutely 100% wrong with that kind of mentality, Liverpool FC is a football club, not a corporation.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 08:48:32
I would agree with most of that except for the h&g bit, they leveraged the club to buy players, we have money now to spend on players without doing what they did.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 08:49:21
Business involves planning and preparation Agger Do.

If we sell our best player with two weeks to, do we have a business plan to replace him?

What happens if we don't make the CL next this season and believe me, when you look at how City, United and Chelsea have strengthened this window, it's hookng to a tough task.

Where's the business plan when we don't have the revenue of the CL?

I accept, and have stated so on here, that we will eventually lose PC to Barcelona - but not this season with two weeks to find a replacement.

Sorry, that makes no business sense to me, it will just show how week we are - just look at the other clubs satanising firm with their players. Keita form instance?

4.) 07 Aug 2017 08:55:47
Whilst I see what you are saying, It doesn't alter the fact that selling our best player one week before the season starts AND failing to strengthen our central defense a week before we start a season were we are looking to push on from last seasons 4th place finish can be seen as anything other than a disaster.

5.) 07 Aug 2017 09:02:31
You say you look forward to his replacement. WHO could replace him. I for one am really disappointed with our transfer dealings this summer. I was really hopeful that we would significantly strengthen our squad this season, and I know there is still weeks to go before the window ends, but I genuinely believed that we would have got our targets before now. If Couts goes, who realistically can we get that doesn't make us weaker.

6.) 07 Aug 2017 09:16:58
Business involves planning as rightly stated by Nicky, this is poor planning and will result in panic buying and over paying for mediocre players. That's bad business.

7.) 07 Aug 2017 09:34:49
I remember Ian ayres getting a lot of stick on this site . I think it was Ed1 who said we need real football people running the operations behind the scene as we still continue to make a pigs ear of all sorts of things not just transfers. Until this is changed it seems we carry on making the same mistakes.

8.) 07 Aug 2017 09:37:54
Business is also about adapting to situations as they change and taking advantage of situations that arise so give off with the 'plan ' argument.

9.) 07 Aug 2017 09:52:40
I'm intrigued to hear what advantages there are to selling your best player two weeks before the window closes?

10.) 07 Aug 2017 10:38:02
To all those ..........

{Ed002's Note - You need to stop sending this post in - most of it is completely untrue and it is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

In order for a bid to be accepted you must:
1: Dress it up as well as you can (especially if it is designed to take the p! $$ out of selling club
2: Tell the world and his wife you are making a bid in order to keep your own fans happy
3: Tell parties agent that they will receive massive waste for the transfer- instruct them to get it done
4: Get the papyrus and fountain pen out as apparently all this electronic tech is too much for the oldsters at the FA
5: Have the Babbelcopter at the ready
6: Inform press of when photoshoot os going to be

All the above are mandatory

At some point, those of a disillusioned persuasion may actually speak to the other club to enquire about talking to the player- this is optional.

Genuine question Ed, not a trying to get out of what we've done wrong moment.

Would the club have to go r permission for Barcelona to talk to the agent?

Seems pretty non-sensical that they could be scoping out packages for the player etc.

Almost a fait accompli by the time club gets involved.

AggerDo

{Ed002's Note - There is a word or two missing, byt Barcelona are talking with Liverpool. If they want to talk with the player, then they need the pwermission of the club.}

Acered- for precisely that reason. The player wants to join them so they, and the player, can use other means to come to a lower deal.
