Where's Harry when you need him?

Tip quality Red-top reporting LFC in talks with Real to sign.

1.) 21 Aug 2017 22:54:07
I believe he is currently going by "we can't defend".

Really surprised he isn't going by "why so Seri us" but you know, give him time.

2.) 21 Aug 2017 23:40:46
I suspect he's cleaning up his PC and desk right about now.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 23:45:38
Is he any good?

4.) 21 Aug 2017 23:46:54
And will we only sign him if coutinio goes? If that is true it doesn't say a great deal for our supposed no sale stance.

5.) 21 Aug 2017 23:58:55
he is one of my favourite players I hope we get him either way.

6.) 22 Aug 2017 00:24:49
Ed wat about ziyech of ajax we were linked wid him does he play central also personally we should go for mahrez box of tricks has vision also has played in this league knows the score, also is ben gibson not worth a punt.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

7.) 22 Aug 2017 05:43:33
Don't tease me boys 😎😎😎😎. If he comes then I ll have a separate page here 😌😌😌😌.

8.) 22 Aug 2017 06:13:36
If he comes then I bet you both will.

9.) 22 Aug 2017 08:10:10
Good suggestion MK, unfortunately it seems he supports the Reds, not Pink πŸ˜‰.

10.) 22 Aug 2017 08:28:45
Yep, I knew Harry was We can't Defend. You seem to always know who harry is based on his posts and their tone regardless of him using his upteenth username.

11.) 22 Aug 2017 09:47:30
Why all the usernames harry just out of intrest.

12.) 22 Aug 2017 11:16:18
I quite enjoy the tease of Harry and the name changes never quite sure what's next but for me he makes this site a lot better.

13.) 22 Aug 2017 13:36:31
Am I the only one who doesn't know who Harry is?

14.) 22 Aug 2017 16:29:23
Belfast red Harry is a legend on this site right up there with edds and macca. Harry often changes his name to keep us all on our toes.
There are a few regular posters on here that tend to disagree with him but for me he is the best poster.

15.) 22 Aug 2017 17:35:24
Negative of my brother! Owe you my life! 😎. You are one of the standout poster on this site. With that username to survive on this site is something even I couldn't dare!

27 Jun 2017 22:36:58
Apparently we are interested in Matt Hale.
Great signing and would save us significant sums of money in the long run
Await another official complaint.

1.) 27 Jun 2017 23:24:27
Who is Mattie Hale?

2.) 28 Jun 2017 06:09:38
He runs the Academy for Southampton.

3.) 28 Jun 2017 10:10:58
Must have been tapped up then.

03 Apr 2017 21:07:27
Quick snippet for fellow Reds.

Heard from an HP that Clyne is being investigated by HMRC.

1.) 03 Apr 2017 22:14:15
He's wealthy = they'll let him off.

2.) 03 Apr 2017 22:52:42
He managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the entire English media, so the muppets at HMRC should be a piece of cake ;)

3.) 04 Apr 2017 22:00:41
On the ball MK

He is being investigated for fraudulently obtaining monies.

Just thought I wold ask how many on here have played at the back?

I played whole career RB and up until under 18s junior side I played in did not have a clinical CF.

Not saying that it should affect Pro-footballers in the same way but can only put my own experience forward.

Playing in a side where chances are not taken puts the back 4/ 5 ( in my experience) on edge and people play with a nervous approach. In my book this increases the chances of mistakes being made
As soon as we got a CF who only took 1 or 2 chances to score then the whole attitude of the side changed- and pressure on the defense was eased.
Now, I'm not saying that our current LFC defenders don't make howlers-they have- but the side wins as a side, and lose as a side.
How many games this season could/ should we have been further in front?
This would change whole outlook of the side, give the back 5 more confidence and probably educe the amount of errors being made.

1.) 28 Oct 2017 12:22:58
I suppose you make a fair point and if we did score more goals we would have won more games but we shouldn’t have to score say 5 to put a game to bed, we should as a top team with title aspirations be able to score a single goal and manage the game to the final whistle.
For me there is problems all over the pitch, the formation and tactics are just not working.
The goalkeeper situation is well documented so not much point in going into detail but it’s an obvious one that effects the entire team.
The problems in defence are also well documented and is also an area that needs fixing.
The midfield is all over the place, like they have no clearly defined roles, we need a defencive midfielder desperately, in the mean time Can or Hendo should try and adopt the role, but it would only be a stop gap.
The attacking three is a more difficult one, I know it seems as if they are not being clinical but they are still putting away the goals and Firmino isn’t being asked to be an out and out goalscorer so I can’t criticise him for doing the job he’s being asked to do.

So for me the most glaring problems are goalkeeper, defence and the midfield being unorganised and not having clear defined roles.
Our keeper should be dropped for karius or Ward, defence should be helped with Lovren being dropped so he can get his life back together and the midfield could be coached into having more defined roles and having more discipline.
All this leads me to Klopp who is ultimately responsible, he needs to sort this mess out and quickly, the problems are so big and so glaring a top coach should be able to fix them but he’s not.

I played everywhere mate. Started as a defensive midfielder for my club, and right/ left back for my school. Then i changed position and played box to box midfielder. Then i moved up a couple of age groups and played striker. Then i moved back down to my own age group and stayed as a striker for about 4 years for both club and school. Eventually when i started playing men's football i moved to a left/ right winger (or a right wing back in a back 5 against the strongest teams in the league) .

Injuries killed my 11 a side days though so i now play as a defender or midfielder in a fairly casual 6 a side league.

So i don't really have much bias towards a particular area of the pitch. I have to be honest though, i am a nasty piece of work on a football pitch. People called me a little Roy Keane when i was younger πŸ˜‚ my excuse is i can't tackle standing up!

I do see both sides of the argument though. When i was defending for my first club we had a rubbish striker so we knew that if we let in any more than 2 goals we would lose.

However when i was a striker i played for a very good team, and my school were the best in the county so i felt little to no pressure in front of goal. If i missed, it was irrelevant. I'd get 3 more chances and we'd only let in 1 or 2 goals.

At men's football though, i played for a god awful team and i was top scorer every season from right wing, and club captain. So i felt a lot of pressure on me to take my chances and it is the only team for whom i ever missed a penalty because of that pressure. You really feel as though if you miss a good chance, people will blame you. We also had a terrible keeper (i kid you not, he wore glasses during the games! ) and that made us so weak as a team. People diving in out of panic, red cards for defenders for bringing down players who were one on one with the keeper, a slow defence trying to hold a high lime because they could shoot anywhere from 30 yards and score etc.

The mental impact of good and bad team mates must be the same at all levels I'd imagine. However these guys are always under pressure because they're in the spotlight. I do agree though. Do you think Firmino would've missed the penalty against Sevilla if the score was 2-0 and not 2-1? I think not. Confidence comes from having a good team, and right now our team is shambolic at times due to a handful of individuals and therefore completely lacking in confidence.

3.) 28 Oct 2017 13:07:07
I used to play as a centre back for my school's team even though I was the shortest player on the pitch, and it really isn't an easy job when the midfield refuses to drop back and provide protection for the defence. It didn't matter that our attack was potent as we had some real talent up front because my centre back partner and I would have to deal with a counterattack every other minute due to the midfielders strolling back (in a very Matip-esque way) . From my experience, the midfield's mentality is crucial to defending, and it's the same problem with Liverpool right now. Sure, the defenders and the goalkeeper are (putting it kindly) crap, but a bad defence can be boosted by good protection from midfield (think of how Leicester's defence was exposed once Kante left) and right now, Henderson, Can and Wijnaldum (our most usual midfield three combination at the moment) have no clue what they're doing. Either they're all flying forward and leaving huge gaps right in front of the defence, or they're all sitting back and failing to provide any real service to our forwards.

4.) 28 Oct 2017 14:33:33
I played at the back here right up to the pro leagues, never the biggest player in height but its the fight in the dog not the dog i the fight i agree more cover would be good and helpful but i more agree with something that Mark Wright (i thin it was him) said " if as a defender you can go man on man as in two centre backs marking two strikers you shouldn't be there. There is not one defender at Liverpool who i could confidently back to go one on one with a forward and defend his goal. you can have all the skill on the ball but decisions you make on and off the ball will always be the deciding factor and our boys make wrong decisions, get bullied by forwards and ball watch alot. for the past few seasons its always been set pieces and crosses we feared most as fans but now we are getting cut through the centre so maybe a more disciplined holding TWO is what is required.

5.) 28 Oct 2017 14:38:26
I've played lb lw lf and cm. It doesn't matter. You don't need to score tonnes of goals to win games. If you don't concede you win more.

11 Sep 2017 20:59:53
I hear Rooney's agent has requested our neighbours from Across the Park change the music they run out to.

{Ed025's Note - he has agger, he wants.."we are the champions" by queen mate..

1.) 11 Sep 2017 21:18:57
Is he a champion of drink driving, a champion of offences against grannies or a champion of just being a complete chod?

{Ed025's Note - hes englands and united,s top scorer of all time baz which is one hell of a CV mate, as a person a complete idiot but as a footballer its very hard to knock him..

2.) 11 Sep 2017 21:42:58
Hard to knock him as a footballer. He could have been great. We will leave it at that.

3.) 11 Sep 2017 21:46:10
ED025 is blushing 😎😎😎.

4.) 11 Sep 2017 22:53:51
Great teenager, good in his early twenties, average in his late twenties, complete gash in his thirties. Wayne Rooney in a nutshell.

5.) 12 Sep 2017 00:32:34
Funny Liverpool fans bashing Rooney for drink driving, yet Firmino is like a god. Isn't he as big a tool as Rooney for the same offence then?

6.) 12 Sep 2017 01:09:36
Not sure if he was taking a girl home in her own car whilst his pregnant wife was holidaying in Spain tho. though that's just a minor detail I guess.

7.) 12 Sep 2017 09:09:17
Stand, Bobbie has done this only once that we know of. Roo is a serial repeat offender. There, fixed it for ya.

18 Aug 2017 21:28:13
I hope some if the transfer fees we have paid in past were largely made up if winning the EPL and completing a treble.

17 Aug 2017 12:35:33
Question for the Eds
How many new users for the LFC pages do you get a day?

My guess must be that it's a significant volume?

Can be the only reason why you get asked the same stuff, over-and-over again!

By the way- any change of VvD to LFC?

{Ed002's Note - Quite a few it seems.}

13 Aug 2017 10:25:14
Eds and fellow reds
A question for you over CB position.
If we were to buy a new CB from an EPL club:
A) which club?
B) which player?

I have my thoughts on it, in that instead of looking for someone who is able to play out from the back etc we need someone who is happiest when defending and used to playing in a well-drilled back 4.

1.) 13 Aug 2017 11:21:43
We need someone who is used to defending in a haphazard clueless back 4 of strangers.

Players who can play well in a well drilled back 4 include Lovren and Matip (at their former clubs)

2.) 13 Aug 2017 11:47:08
Names Ron. Without names that's an easy post πŸ˜‰

I jest buddy, from only Prem clubs, my pick would be Kompany but obviously this is hypothetical. More realistically I'd take someone like Fonte. He actually made Lovren look a good player.

3.) 13 Aug 2017 11:58:20
My unrealistic choice would be Alderweireld, realistic would be Ben Mee.

4.) 13 Aug 2017 12:10:35
VVD. He Wants to play for Liverpool, he's one of the best CB in the prem.

5.) 13 Aug 2017 12:41:44
ben gibson anyone?

6.) 13 Aug 2017 13:03:30
Even Maldini won't help us if we keep playing the crap defensive setup we have at set pieces. It's not even about zonal marking anymore as that system can work provided the players are well drilled, communicate well, can adapt to avoid mismatches (which is why Firmino should have been nowhere near the 6 yard box on that first corner), attack headers instead of reacting after the opposition heads the ball into the net and so on. If you are are not doing any of that then you can have the legendary AC Milan backline of Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini and Tasotti and we will still concede.

7.) 13 Aug 2017 14:04:30
Alderwield and vvd but I'm not greedy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Surely there were no alternatives to VvD

If there were, who in their right mind wouldn't have brought them in during the summer window- and instead put all their eggs in one basket?

{Ed001's Note - that is a question only Klopp can answer mate, there were alternatives but he had decided on VVD. I guess he just assumed a deal could be done as VVD was determined to join us.}

In order for a bid to be accepted you must:
1: Dress it up as well as you can (especially if it is designed to take the p! $$ out of selling club
2: Tell the world and his wife you are making a bid in order to keep your own fans happy
3: Tell parties agent that they will receive massive waste for the transfer- instruct them to get it done
4: Get the papyrus and fountain pen out as apparently all this electronic tech is too much for the oldsters at the FA
5: Have the Babbelcopter at the ready
6: Inform press of when photoshoot os going to be

All the above are mandatory

At some point, those of a disillusioned persuasion may actually speak to the other club to enquire about talking to the player- this is optional.

Feel sorry for them.

Poor decisions made by club management leave you facing Fat Sam football for the rest of the season
Nailed on, unfortunately, that they will be all over set-pieces so will beat us 😑.

There was a time when it was Merseyside v The Rest.

Considerable amount of time spent on these. It's why sometimes players give the ball away and leave fans thinking "why did he do that? "
Because it's been drilled that when this-this-and this happens, you do this.
