We seem to be scoring from more corners in the last 2 or 3 months than at any time in the previous 5 years. Is it any coincidence that the Ox is now taking most of them?

Ox's delivery from set pieces last night was unbelievable, i haven't seen someone take so many in a row with such quality since gerrard.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 14:45:46
I agree but sadly it was the only good thing he was doing, during open play he was constantly giving the ball away. He is not playing like a £40m player for me and still has some way to go.

The Firmino incident? Just another scene from the movie Bobby, Madley, Deeply.

I have a horrible feeling that incident last night is going to dampen our season I really. hope I'm wrong.

No way should Liverpool sell Coutinho in this window. If it happens in the summer, so be it. Better players than him have left Liverpool, Keegan, Souness, Rush and Suarez to name 4. Others who left who we wanted to stay include Torres, Mascherano, McManaman and, dare I say, Owen. Liverpool F. C. will go on no matter who leaves. Who we replace them with is the key to success. Sometimes we’ve done it well, with Dalglish to replace Keegan, Molby to replace Souness ana Aldridge to replace Rush. Other times not so well with Nunez and £8 million to replace Owen and Lambert to replace Suarez.

Nobody can replace Coutinho exactly but we need to get someone who can do things he can’t do. Owen and Torres regretted leaving Liverpool and I think Coutinho will live to regret leaving to become Messi’s bitch. Neymar has gone, Messi, Iniesta and Suarez are all close to the downward spiral and if Coutinho goes missing in some games, as he has done here, he’ll find than the Spanish supporters are not so forgiving

I accept his choice to leave if that’s what he wants but I thinkIll get my old Torres voodoo doll out and put Phils head on it and stick needles in it every night. It worked on Nando for 4 years.

Summer might be too late, they have other targets, do you want us to be lumbered with a player who doesn't want to be here?

I believe if we get rid now, we can bring in a suitable replacement by the end of January, should we not, it is what it is. We'll get by.

Nevermind what you think, it's what Coutinho wants, it's his decision, let him be he wants out so let him go, it's the inevitable. Though I have lost respect for him somewhat, I wish him the best of luck WHEN he leaves. There's no real point in rambling on about it or keeping him until the summer, he's going whether we like it or not. It might as well be now whilst we can get a good price for him.

2.) 01 Jan 2018 02:23:22
Man Utd could with De Gea so why can't we? We are not bigger than them anymore. I'm just sick of Barca's antics regarding deadlines (there must be a dozen of them every year) . If they really want Pipco than they should do like our owners who showed them how it's done .

3.) 01 Jan 2018 03:15:15
I hope we keep him no matter what but if he goes it will be nice to get LEMAR or try to get KEITA early.

4.) 01 Jan 2018 04:10:41
If Coutinho goes this month itself, then would like to see the Kieta move being fast tracked and another wide player like Draxler or Brandt signed.

5.) 01 Jan 2018 09:53:55
it will be a gamble to keep Couts this window. If we do then it's a case of does his recurring back injury show up again whilst he looks for his dummy or does he continue this current form he is in. Either way it could make or break the season and it's a risk to sell or keep. I'm sure Klopp will have his say and then Henry will make the final call.

{Ed025's Note - i think he will go jayden and will be a big loss to the reds, hes been a bit of a dick head but still a quality player..

6.) 01 Jan 2018 10:45:45
Ello ed do u have an idea if we will look too replace him with maybe a lemar, kovacivic, draxler or someone of that nature if he is sold or do u think we have already spent the coutihno money with vvd, also I should imagine studge will leave so do u think we will look too replace him also I know u ain't a wizard a can't predict future but it all helps, all the best by the way for new year.

{Ed001's Note - transfers do not work like that, we cannot 'spend the Coutinho money'.}

7.) 01 Jan 2018 11:14:14
Which ever way this ends, I just hope we can keep going and make top 4 this season.

As much as I’ve tried to give Mignolet the benefit of the doubt over the years, yesterday was the final straw. Willian’s cross was floated with little pace and any half-decent keeper would have moved his feet and caught it.

Even allowing for the poor footwork, why did he try to go for it with his left hand? If you are sitting in your chair now, lean to your right and put your left hand over your head to see how far you can stretch. Then, holding the same position and put out your right hand. You’ll see that your right hand can stretch a good 12 -15 inches further. Mignolet got the fingers of his left hand to the ball, so would easily have got a full hand on it if he’d gone with his right.

Mignolet is not alone in this, as there are others who do the same (usually the ones who end up picking the ball out of their net) . Why do they do it? I can only assume that they want to use the right arm to break the fall of the dive, but the priority should be to save the ball. They are not playing on concrete for f**ks sake.

12-15" further? You got problems, i think you should get an appointment to go see your GP asap.

2.) 26 Nov 2017 15:10:41
It's just the latest in a string of errors from him this season, isn't it?

I can take managers making mistakes as long as I can understand what they were trying to achieve. Hindsight's great and all if something doesn't work, but as long as I get what the manager was thinking beforehand, I can understand. But I don't understand Klopp's thinking on goalkeepers.

When Migs wasn't making so many errors last season, it was a discussion. Do you pick the potentially better, but also error prone Karius? Or the bang average Migs? But at least he isn't making mistakes. But this season Migs has made a tonne of errors and been jittery under the slightest bit of pressure. It's not a discussion anymore. Karius would have to literally throw the ball into his own net five matches in a row to be on Migs' level. Not to mention we also have Ward back at the club.

3.) 26 Nov 2017 15:26:35
Tommywalsh, I think you’re the one who needs to see your GP if your flexibility is so poor that your right hand can’t reach further than your left if you’re diving to your right.

4.) 26 Nov 2017 16:02:13
Klavy, your like a lot of men, adding inches .

5.) 26 Nov 2017 16:34:34
Very true Happy, but the truth comes out when we have to drop our pants. But seriously, look at it again on MOTD2 tonight and I’ll accept any criticism if anyone can honestly tell me that he couldn’t have got closer to the ball going for it with his right hand. As for 12-15 inches, that is because his right shoulder is about that distance closer than the left shoulder if diving to the right. PS/ if there are any ladies on here who want to see my 15 inches, ask the Ed for my email address.

6.) 26 Nov 2017 16:55:07
Klavy is absolutely correct. If the goal was a fluke, you have to believe that Migs did all the things available to a GK to save the cross and if he did then, no problem. The fact that there are legitimate questions of his approach to the cross, shows that it was yes a fluke AND YES, the GK did not do all he could. This is where Klavy is completely correct.

Migs has NO athleticism and NO footwork, fact. Now on the cross, he sees that Klavan has forced Willian wide so a shot is no longer possible and only a blind cross would come. Watch Migs' footwork or lack thereof. He shuffles to the near post and when Willian is forced wide, he does not read that for him to get to the inevitable cross, he has to shuffle his feet back towards the middle of the goal to get to the ensuing cross. Migs does not do that.

Instead, he moves a pathetic two steps to his right and leaps for the ball. He gets two fingers to the ball but concedes. It is logical that to conclude that had another GK like say Karius or Ward (who has more athleticism and better footwork than Migs) had moved his feet faster, he would have gotten a full hand on the ball and tip it over if he could get three fingers on it w/ o shuffling his feet. It is that simple.

Mignolet reacted late.

The De Gea comparisons are futile. De Gea was a young kid with a good reputation playing for Atletico Madrid. Lots of people had heard of him, hence the big fee United had to pay. He struggled when he came, mainly with physicality as he was roughed up at corners and set pieces. Once he bulked up he was fine.

How many of the Karius disciples on here had actually heard of him before we signed him? How many had seen him play? What has he done when he has been selected to warrant such faith? On Sunday, one save to make and he let it in.

If Klopp hadn’t signed him and he wasn’t German he wouldn’t be getting a sniff of a place.

I hope he proves me wrong but I won’t hold my breath.

My post should have read Kenny, not Kent. Also, Bretzteke I agree with you about Coady. He is playing well now and has improved a lot. But when he was being pushed because he was local he was not good enough at the time.

One of Kent’s big mistakes was playing Spearing, especially in the Cup Fonal against Chelsea. Decent player but just not good enough for where LFC needed to go.

Pushing him because he was a local lad when he was not up to LFC standard is not the answer. Same for Coady and Flanagan too. For a local lad to break through at Anfield you have to be top quality, eg Gerrard, Carragher, Fowler, Owen and hopefully TAA.

It’s obvious isn’t it? Karius for captain. I’m surprised any of his disciples on here haven’t thought of it first.

As long as they add the time on at the end of each half. In the Caribo Cup game there were 3 referrals totalling over 2 and a half minutes (I think) and 3 substitutions (supposedly 30 seconds each) plus goal and other stoppages. Nowhere near that time was added on at the end of the game. So, we are being short-changed for the exhorbitant amount of money we pay.

What next? Confectionery companies will be reducing the size of chocolate bars and still charging the same, hoping we don’t notice.

Arsenal are pretty poor at the moment but, don’t forget, they drew with us not so long ago. I’m not saying Wilshere is somebody we should sign but he is a class player when fit and was Arsenal’s best later at the weekend, despite the defeat.

A bit harsh. Wilshere is one of the few class players Arsenal have got. When he has the ball it sticks to his foot, he shields it and is hard to dispossess. Coming back from some bad injuries too, where you can expect a bit of rustiness.

Squiresy, I said I’d give him my backing and support and hope he comes good. What’s embarrassing about that?

I’ve been critical of him and for good reaspn because he hasn’t shown anything yet when he's played. He’s the only goalkeeper who I’ve ever seen kick a goal kick out for a corner and just don’t understand why so many on here think he will come good.

I’ll be delighted if he does. Mignolet is nothing special but I think he is better than Karius. Yes, Mignolet’s had 5 years and I feel that if we gave Karius 5 years we’d be talking about him in the same way as we do about Migs now.

Nothing against Karius, it’s just an opinion. For the first time in years I feel we are going places and both keepers have the potential to jeopardise that. Personally I feel we need to spend what it takes to fill this vital position.
