Brannagan loan to Bolton seems to be on the cards in January. I really hope he can kickstart his career and make a big impression.
Are any other loan deals on the cards for January?

23 Nov 2016 18:58:52
Prepare for 'Azmoun to Liverpool' rumours everyone, he scored tonight against Bayern Munich.

1.) 23 Nov 2016 19:20:43
He looks a prospect but I just can't see what he would bring that we don't already have. He wouldn't get the game time he needs to develop into a top player.

2.) 30 Nov 2016 01:53:17
Cracking player his ball control is amazing him n couts open up defences on the turn at will he won't leave create the right atmospere n players thrive klopps getting the fans to feed his players awesome.

01 Nov 2016 10:16:14
Schalke left back Kolasanic linked on a free transfer. I remember ed001 mentioning his name a good 6 months ago as a potential option.

1.) 01 Nov 2016 13:14:17
have watched schalke a lot and i think he would fit in very nicely in england. i think this would be a very good signing for liverpool if true.

2.) 01 Nov 2016 16:23:14
If the last Schalke defender we signed on a free is anything to go by then sign him up!

3.) 01 Nov 2016 23:30:55
I've seen him play a couple of times and the guy is a very solid defender with attacking sense. He took over from Fuchs who is the best LB in the PL. I wouldn't mind him at all.

4.) 03 Nov 2016 09:18:28
Ed001, What are your thoughts on Lovren if I may ask? I find myself constantly struggling to make up my mind!

{Ed001's Note - on his day he is good, but he can be rash and is far too inconsistent, which suggests he has mental issues with concentration and focus. Without good concentration and focus you are unlikely to reach your potential as a defender on a regular basis. Personally I think he would make an excellent back up, third choice, defender, but he is not quite good enough for first choice.}

5.) 03 Nov 2016 10:16:15
Yea I'd agree with that! Thanks for the reply Ed :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

06 Sep 2016 17:46:12
There will be Liverpool scouts present at the Germany u21s game tonight to watch Mahmoud Dahoud.

1.) 06 Sep 2016 19:44:22
were going to need someone like him in Jan / Feb, Our star player Mane is playing in the African Cup or something, and will miss about four games, two being United and Chelsea, I am really hoping that Ojo makes the big step up, he has it in him to do it .

2.) 06 Sep 2016 19:47:18
I do find it interesting that scouts watch internationals.
It's so different to club football.

3.) 06 Sep 2016 21:58:06
ron, yes me too. And I find it interesting that someone above thinks we need to sign a player in January as Mane will be missing for 4 games. yes 4 missing games means we need a massive January signing. Is that to replace a player many of us in here thought was not very good before he had kicked a ball in the colours of LFC?

4.) 06 Sep 2016 22:30:28
If I remember correctly, Mane missed the Burnley game, one that most fans thought would be a handy three points, and guess what, there goalie could have been reading the programme, we were awful, after just three games, we are already playing catch up .
maybe icon, you forgot to read the post properly, I said two important points .
one, Mane will miss two very big games, Man U and Chelsea .
two, I said that I hoped Ojo would be able to step up, as I think that he can .
if I can just add, that Liverpool paid a very big fee to get Mane, and already he is being looked at maybe being our Star player .
we really need someone else up front, to take us to the next level .

5.) 06 Sep 2016 22:52:03
Redforever. I have to point out that you said he'd be missing for 4 games but named 2 of the teams he will miss. So are you saying he will miss 2 or 4 games? You did say you hope ojo can step up
But you also did say we need someone like Dahoud in January. That tells me you think we should sign Dahoud in January. Iconic did read it properly, you didn't write it properly I think.

6.) 07 Sep 2016 00:50:16
actually WelshRed, Mane will be missing for more than four games, I did mention the two big games, as I thought them the most important, Mane will also miss an FA. Cup game, 4th round I think, also a League cup game, if we are still involved, its my opinion that this season, we don't have the team to make top four, as we have too many weak spots in the team,
if you look at other teams, were they have bought to improve their team, spending huge amounts of money, its far too easy to get left behind, and end up mid table .
there is a transfer window in Jan, that I think Klopp will use to improve our team .
we have so many injuries, Ojo himself has been out, one of many, but I see him a big star one day .
now I can't see the future, but Mane will miss Cup games, whoever we are drawn against, also how far Manes national team gets to .
I hope this makes my previous post a bit clearer, sorry if it came across not so clear .
I also believe that we might become too relient on Mane, and fall back when he does not play, this is were I amlooking at the bigger picture, and mention Ojo, or Dahoud, who I think we will see at Liverpool .

7.) 07 Sep 2016 00:59:09
Just like to point out to Redforever that Dahoud is not a winger or forward, so the talk of Manè and Ojo is completely irrelevant!

8.) 07 Sep 2016 01:01:11
WelshRed, I just looked at my first post, and I did say that Mane will be missing for about four games . this being, like I have mentioned, how far we go in the Cup Games, and how long Mane is away for,
you asked, am I saying is it two or four, well it could be six, we will see, but one point that I am making is that Mane is becoming so important for us, that his absence will be reflected on the results, hence why I think we should buy big in January, to make the team stronger .
I don't want to see us in 8th place ever again .

9.) 07 Sep 2016 02:58:18
Ragout is being scouted for next season, I read somewhere so don't understank those saying he'll be bought to compensate for Mane who'll be off to the AFCON, especially as he's a CM and not a winger. Makes no sense really.

10.) 07 Sep 2016 09:23:19
That makes things a LOT clearer redforever. Who do you feel we need in January to strengthen? For me, it's too early to call except the obvious LB situation.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs rarely if ever plan for January transfers. Clubs do not wish to sell because of disruption. Additionally, clubs do not buy cover for players going to the Africa Cup of Nations. I would not get your hopes up too much.}

11.) 07 Sep 2016 10:21:46
Cheers Ed 👍.

12.) 07 Sep 2016 14:32:07
Maradoo, Klopp likes his strikers and attacking players to rotate positions during play, you could see Sturridge or Mane anywere up front, and that's the type of player that he likes, I am hoping that when he does buy another offensive player, he will fit into his system, just trust in Klopp, he is not perfect, but he is our manager .

13.) 07 Sep 2016 14:42:44
WelshRed, I can see us bringing in the obvious left back, a defensive midfielder, and let Lucas move on, also a pacy attacking player . this Dahoud kind of fits the bill, also he is on his last year of contract, will not sign a new one, he is not being picked to play first team football, so he could leave in January .
but as the Eds have said many times, transfers are more difficult in this window,
just some more info on Mane, he has just won the Liverpool player of the month, and in Jan / Feb, he could miss a minimum of four games, up to a maximum of seven games, depending on how long he is away for, and if we are in the League cup semi finals, which is over two legs .

14.) 07 Sep 2016 20:03:01

Dahoud has 2 more years until june 2018.

15.) 07 Sep 2016 20:46:22
Malagared, are you sure, its not what I read, anyway, that transfer might never happen, tho he is a really good player, and Klopp has a history of moving players on, and bringing in new ones .

16.) 07 Sep 2016 20:51:47
Come January anyone else think we could do with a AM?

17.) 07 Sep 2016 21:00:21
Malagared, think were both right, yes he is under contract till 2018, but he will not sign an extension to this contract, is not getting picked for his side, and will probably move on in the summer transfer window, looks like Klopp is keeping an eye on him as Liverpool scouts were checking him out .

18.) 08 Sep 2016 04:29:00
It looks like we have turned his head. But I don't se a sale in January unless we were to pay a huge money. should have bought him instead of Wijnaldum in the summer.

19.) 08 Sep 2016 04:31:29
Buying dahoud would just mean grudjic who every1 was raving about in prem season falling down pecking order who he has just bought. Left back will b bought unless milner somehow manages to play consistently well there until Jan. Just my opinion.

20.) 08 Sep 2016 18:21:24
yes, hoping Grudjic will get game time, think there is something about him needing so many games to get his work permit? , I think come next summer, there could be one or two first teamers leaving,
this Dahoud is only young, and plays a bit like Couts, who as he improves, will attract the interest of the top two spanish clubs,
so lots to look forward to, Anfield will be rocking on sat evening .

21.) 09 Sep 2016 19:11:35
Should never base signing players on how they perform in internationals.

22.) 12 Sep 2016 14:38:31
I wanted to see Grujic come on instead of Moreno in the last match, but I think he'll get his time given a couple of months with us. It'll be hard for him though -- Can is one of our most valuable players and wasn't in the lineup yesterday and it looks like Stewey will be a favorite of Klopp (particularly when we're winning late in games) . Lucas could be played in that position a few times as well so Grujic will have to continue to impress in training and earn that spot.

28 Aug 2016 13:24:25
Ed002, where is the interest in Dortmund's Pulisic?
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund certainly won't be open to selling Pulisic - John Hackworth got Klinsmann to look at him not to long ago and he did arrive at Dortmund when Klipperty was there. The push would likely of come from someone under Zorc to take him there. Perhaps a long term replacement for Reus? Real Madrid and Manchester City looking, but MCFC like Liverpool know that it would be difficult to get a Work Permit without paying well over the odds. I would not expect any move this summer and Liverpool are, for a reason we will not go in to, not in a particularly good position to do any further business in Germany this summer.}

1.) 28 Aug 2016 15:27:04
Thanks very much, I appreciate the time you take out of your day especially at this busy time of the footballing calendar.

2.) 28 Aug 2016 17:03:39
Doesn't need a work permit as is eligible through his Crotian Father.

{Ed002's Note - It is a passport of convenience and he remains a US citizen and also holds a dual passport for the United States. In the UK it means he has to go down the work permit route still. Liverpool could get around it by simply meeting the criteria for a work permit.}

3.) 28 Aug 2016 17:32:30
Can i just say it is incredible the extent of your knowledge edo2.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps he is not the only one in such a situation? I am in a not dissimilar situation myself.}

4.) 28 Aug 2016 22:18:59
Excellent, more clues to ed002! I still think ed002 is verheijen in disguise.! :p.

Unfortunately the U23s lost to Man United tonight 1-0. Man U scored right at the death to win it. Shamal George saved a penalty which is always a positive (what is it with our keepers the past week? 😂) .
Our team was quite inexperienced on the whole and there was a notable absence of Harry Wilson, who has been one of the standouts this season for the U23s. You can only assume he will be playing a part in the Plymouth game. The game was closely contested and as a result there were few clear cut chances. In my last post I said that the U23s are always entertaining to watch and then this happened, typical!
If anyone watched or was at the game, please feel free to add to or correct my post.
Disappointing result but you can't win them all and the way our inexperienced side played at times was encouraging.
Next up is Ipswich at home on Sunday in the Premier League Cup, and again I encourage anyone nearby to go and support the boys

1.) 16 Jan 2017 21:31:00
Absolutely brilliant work DaRedMan. As important as Carra Gold. Keep up 👍

2.) 16 Jan 2017 21:39:05
Thanks Harry, it's the least I can do mate

3.) 16 Jan 2017 21:46:33
Got to agree with Harry AGAIN!

Sterling work, Daredman.

Hope to see Wilson soon given the reports.

4.) 16 Jan 2017 21:52:36
There were number of U23 regulars missing from this team including Woodburn, Ejaria, TAA, Ojo, Wilson as well the Maguire who has now left the club, Chirivella who is out on loan and Brannagan who is injured. Juanma wasn't involved either and I think he maybe injured.

5.) 16 Jan 2017 22:16:50
Thanks mate

6.) 17 Jan 2017 08:53:33
much respect to all those that get out and support the youth sides, for me some of the best football i've watched has come from youth football, and when i get to liverpool one day that will be the first game i watch, the next john barnes will come from our youth.

7.) 17 Jan 2017 08:45:51
I expect to see Wilson against Plymouth, perhaps as a sub for Ojo (or visa-versa) - good to see so many youngsters rested for the Plymouth game

10 Jan 2017 18:05:15
U23s report:
They won 4-1 against Barnet in a friendly today. Sakho didn't play, neither did Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Woodburn, Ovie Ejaria, Joe Gomez and Sheyi Ojo. I'm not sure if this was to keep them fresh for the next game (Man United) or whether they will be playing a part against Southampton tomorrow evening. Probably a combination of the two reasons.
Anyway, Brooks Lennon scored a brace, Harry Wilson scored one and Jack Dunn scored the other.
Lennon is one who I believe has gone under the radar this season and he has put in lots of good quality, consistent performances. Nice to see Jack Dunn finding his feet again and great to see Wilson keeping up his good form. I'm very disappointed that he didn't get a shot against Plymouth on the weekend but I suppose he is not seen as ready for the first team just yet.
Next up is Man United on the 16th for the U23s and this is a huge game. This one is a home game for us so I urge people to get out and support our future in a big game for them. The quality of their games are always of a high standard it seems as well.

1.) 10 Jan 2017 18:53:52
Cheers for the update

2.) 10 Jan 2017 20:21:01
No problem Higgins, I'm just looking forward to the return of Premier League 2

3.) 11 Jan 2017 12:34:07
What was this game in aid of? I didn't even recognise the Barnet squad - was it the EFL Trophy or something?

05 Jan 2017 08:50:43
U23s won 6-0 against Bangor in a friendly last night. Jack Dunn scored a hat trick, Harry Wilson scored 2 and Toni Gomes scored the other. Ojo got another 45mins in and thankfully the knock he picked up in the previous game wasn't anything serious. Woodburn, Trent AA and Ovid Ejaria didn't play a part so that would suggest they will be playing some part against Plymouth.
Next game for the U23s is against Man United on 16 Jan after the Leicester game next week has been moved to April.

1.) 05 Jan 2017 09:24:25
Brilliant DaRed. What you think of Wilson? Should he play against plymouth?

2.) 05 Jan 2017 11:45:56
Definitely, he's been excellent all season and he's been patiently waiting his chance and you'd think there would be no better game to give him time on the pitch.

3.) 05 Jan 2017 13:36:12
Just to add to Original Post, Cian Harris on trial from Coventry played Centre Back and played really well. Joe Gomez and Tiago Ilori were both left out of the team. Gomez to be included in squad against Plymouth, Ilori to sign for Reading.

4.) 05 Jan 2017 14:10:14
Thanks for the add on mate!
A correction to my initial post is that we are playing Barnet in a friendly on 10 January next and then it is Man United.

31 Dec 2016 23:00:58
Great result to end 2016 and hopefully we can continue our great form into 2017.
Loving the positivity gents, Klopp is turning us all into believers:)

1.) 01 Jan 2017 07:27:43
Sorry mate. I hit dislike in error while scrolling. I hit like aswell now.

31 Dec 2016 10:49:05
Can't wait for the game today, really pumped for it! I hope the fans in the stadium are as up for it, the atmosphere needs to be at its best and we've seen in the past how important the atmosphere is to the players' performance.

Realistically I would demand £70m+ for Couts. He's still young and his performances are getting better and better and his consistency is also improving massively. Especially if Barcelona and PSG are interested as well

I would love us to sign Fonte but I don't understand why we would need to replace Sakho who isn't even in the first team?
The only way I can see it working is if we sell Lucas and integrate Gomez to the first team in the summer by selling Klavan. Is it worth the reshuffle at the back though that's the question.

You a rugby fan then ed?

{Ed002's Note - No, I went with one of my wives on "membership" tickets and she had a cold. We were due to spend the night in London (as we were not living in England at the time) but she wanted to get off the train because it was packed. We got off at Richmond and wandered in to a quiet bar where only after a couple of drinks we noticed that they had a stripper the following day - Willie The Kid. We eventually got back in to town and back to the hotel. All in all in was not a great day. I should not that the game stopped for about 10 minutes in the first half - for reasons that were never explained to the crowd. It restarted with the pare official and the ref dealing with a curry from the previous night in the changing rooms.}

He's been very good this season for the U23s and he's just gone out on loan to the MLS to get some experience I would imagine. One of the most underrated players for the U23s in my opinion

That's good, it's nice to see the club moving in the right direction behind the scenes as well as on the pitch
