6 days to go!

On the 16th of June our Facebook page will go live to a charity match the site has organised, in aid of Seva and Macmillan nurses.
It will be a 3pm kick off!
Please share and like our page to support the boys taking part. We have one crowdfunded page on justgiving that raised £300 before prematurely ending so stay tuned for a new one setting up. We are hopeful to raise £1000 with this and the players match fees.

This is also the last call for anyone else who wants to play in the game held in north oxfordshire. Current players range from all abilities and ages! So do not feel you cannot contribute.

Text me on 07719565417 for more info!

Will ed001's "Just like watching brazil" better ed002's "Walham green east wapping, carpet cleaning rodent and boggit exterminating association"....FC?

Who is your money on?!

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:47:19
Every time I see posts about this I kick myself because I lived in Oxfordshire but moved to Liverpool last year ;_;
Would have loved to play after work but would never make it there in time now xD

Good luck to everybody participating and ed2s players repeating that name haha.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:30:30
Going to be a struggle carving that name onto a trophy haha
Happy to donate and looking forward to watching the live stream.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 23:36:30
Would love to have made it from Ireland. Well done to all involved as it's for a great cause. Enjoy the day and be proud.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 23:41:46
How are you going to fit that team name on a jersey?

5.) 11 Jun 2018 01:37:23
I’m gutted, I was going to play and had it tied to when I was back in the uk ( I live in aus) my trip moved numerous times. I’ll be back in time but pulled a hamstring 2 weeks ago so can’t play regardless!

6.) 11 Jun 2018 06:26:45
Would have loved to play and show off my silky skills but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. If successful maybe we could make this an annual thing?

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:09:13
Any chance to do some commentary from India, Ed001? xD.

08 Jun 2017 06:28:27
Having spoken to the person who has been keeping me informed on this, to get clarity, I think it is time I gave the full explanation of what I am now being told. I am going to refer to the person as he/ him, just because it is easier rather than because it is a male.

So I have pestered him, because I wanted some clarification of the full story and to know if I am being deliberately fed misinformation to keep the club out of trouble. He claims that he is telling me exactly what he has been told, that there is no attempt to mislead me on his behalf, either knowingly or unknowingly. So this is basically the story as he gives it:

After matches Klopp will often chat with opposition players, just a friendly chat, nothing untoward, many managers will do it.

However, remarks were made to VVD along the lines of 'I would love to have you in my team' or similar when we have faced Southampton. Which VVD has obviously taken to heart, though we have no way of knowing if Klopp was making the first moves towards a signing or just making a throwaway remark regarding the player. So that could be seen as a problem in the light of following events, though would normally not even be noticed.

Anyway, last summer things were a bit unsettled there with Jose Fonte fighting to leave and it caused a few issues with a number of the players there, who felt Fonte was unfairly treated after his years of service to the club. There are a number of players there who did not like the treatment Fonte received and felt he should have been allowed to make his dream move, rather than held to his contract and then ended up in limbo before joining West Ham United just to get away from Saints. VVD has at this point made the decision he wants to go and asked his agent to put out feelers looking for interested parties.

We showed interest at this point, I don't have dates, I have never had any kind of dates to give, which is why I have never mentioned any, but I would assume this is just after the January window, as this was when he was disgruntled. However, instead of going direct to the club and seeking permission to speak to them and him over a summer move, we spoke directly to the agent.

Now our excuse, which is why I am told the club immediately backed out and apologised, is that we were told the agent and player came to us with Saints' blessing. I will leave you to make up your own mind over the truth of that claim, as I really do not know. I have no way to verify that information one way or the other.

To cut a long story short, the player, agent and club sorted out a deal, then and only then do LFC go to Saints to negotiate a price. That is when all hell broke loose and Soton investigated, made a complaint etc.

That is how he explained it to me, but I have no way to verify any of it, which is why I am giving you a full version as he tells it. In the past he has been reliable, though he has often asked me not to pass on things, the info he has given had checked out. This time I am not sure though, this feels too neat and like someone is trying to shift the blame. Either way the club is at fault for not ensuring they had permission to speak to the player.

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:43:11
Make you right ed001 with it sounding to contrived but it does not mean what he has said is not the truth. Like you say it's not difficult to follow the correct way of approaching a transfer a club either says yes or no what is the problem. Baffling really still men in suits are never the smartest.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the club still has this issue. We do not need to act underhand, the club is, in terms of brand power, according to those that measure these things, ahead of all but Man Utd in English football. We should not need to be underhand to attract quality players. They should want to play for us because of who we are. So just concentrate on getting the right deal with their current club, then worry about convincing the player.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 06:48:37
Qyestion for the Eds, not just about this event. What is the situation regarding speaking to agents. As i understand it agents put feelers out to other clubs and that is ok. In those circumstances i assume it is ok for a club to speak to the agent. If that has happened can the club contact the agent again for further discussions? Is it a case of the player basically can't be in the room with them? Or more complicated, e. g. you can't talk beyond a certain point even with the agent? Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - if a club wish to talk to a player who is under contract at a club then they must inform the parent club for permission DL, anything less is seen as "tapping up" even if its done through the agent mate..

3.) 08 Jun 2017 06:55:11
Shame Ed, at the very least I hope the club learn a lesson, I think we're sailing very close to the wind with our transfer activity.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 07:00:49
Thanks Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

5.) 08 Jun 2017 07:05:44
Its the premier league response that intreagues me. Would it not be the case that if they thought we were genuinely guilty of wrong doing on purpose then just an apology from us would be irrelevant?

{Ed025's Note - i must say that you make a fair point slowdog, maybe we have not heard the last of it yet mate..

6.) 08 Jun 2017 07:15:27
We have read news that VVD agent also spoke to Conte and Pep; that would have constituted tapping too right?

{Ed001's Note - no, you are missing the point, the intermediary can speak to others, it is the player himself that is unable to discuss things.}

7.) 08 Jun 2017 07:17:07
Do you think this is the end of the saga with LFC and VVD ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what Saints think. If they are satisfied with the apology and us backing away, then yes. Though a lot comes down to VVD himself as well.}

8.) 08 Jun 2017 07:31:15
If Saints had any decency, they'd accept the apology and move on. Liverpool acted underhandedly but, judging from ed001's post, not in a deliberate way. It's not like the club had been scheming to prevent a bidding war that Southampton were entitled to.

9.) 08 Jun 2017 07:30:15
Thank you for letting us know the situation ED001, we appreciate it!

I was on these pages when the whole Clint Dempsey saga happened and it's beyond belief that the club can act in such a amateurish fashion! Or is it arrogance on the clubs part?

Considering how many times we have dealt with Southampton over the past few years makes this surprising as well as irritating to say the least!

Again, thanks for keeping us in the loop Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like arrogance to me, believing they can do what they want with no consequence.}

10.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:05
Hey ED001. Is the extent to which the VVD deal played out in the media seen as a massive issue by the club? I know this doesn't excuse the club's behaviour but the extent to which transfer info is leaked is quite extraordinary. Similarly a lot has been written bout the Salah deal. Can the club not conduct business in a private professional manner, or is it just the case that this not easily done in modern football? Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, the club put a lot of effort into keeping things quiet in the past, hence the Jen Chang thing. Now it has gone back to the old flood of info coming out. It is not easy to keep things quiet, but it certainly should not be coming out in the amounts LFC are producing it.}

11.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:11
eds i know this is an outrageous idea/ thought, but truth be known the window don't open until july between now and then the saints accept the apology after believing because of the blame game as you said, that the tapping up was accidentally stupid, could liverpool get the deal sorted and pay more as in a way to save face or is it just a stupid thought.

{Ed001's Note - it could happen and has happened in the past. The likelihood is that we will not pay the price regardless.}

12.) 08 Jun 2017 07:37:52
Nice one ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome and RITH is wrong. The whole point of speaking to a player is to cut out the whole auction aspect of transfers by ensuring you get the best price with the player only wanting to join you.

As for Saints, they have done nothing wrong and RITH is just showing how bitter he is by constantly deflecting and blaming the victim.}

13.) 08 Jun 2017 07:57:21
Thanks for the info Ed. Legend.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14.) 08 Jun 2017 08:03:54
Ed 1 - you make some great points here. We were discussing it in the pub last night and I think the consensus of opinion was that tapping up players has always gone on and always will to some degree. It is maybe a bit easier to hide behind agents and third parties these days than it was years ago but I think even an indirect approach - I. e. To an agent is tapping up. I know clubs often give players agents approval or even instructions to find a new club for a player maybe even with guidelines as to what a sell price may be. More often than not all of the above happens in secret.

You make a very good point that too much information seems to be leaked out of LFC and whilst it seems clear that the club has acted beyond what can be excusable (I. e. A sounding out of an agent etc. ) and especially with meeting the player directly, the leaks to the press in my view is what has really caused the most problems.

I hope there is a full investigation internally and these internal problems are fixed now or we could have a long summer of problems in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - not just a long summer, it will be the same every transfer window until we fix the internal problems.}

15.) 08 Jun 2017 08:10:12
Is there any suggestion that there will be any internal disciplinary actions taken by the club towards any LFC staff involved in the transfer Ed001? Do you think the VVD events will see Liverpool changing their approach to transfers and lack of professionalism? If nothing changes or there isn't an acceptance that change is needed then that would really stink of arrogance.

{Ed001's Note - the first thing that will happen is likely to be an internal investigation to examine what went on, what the club did wrong and what the club did right. That analysis will have to lead to changes or this summer will be nothing compared to how bad things will get for the club in the future.}

16.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:14
It's all just so distasteful. Look at what Lukaku is doing to them across the park. Young men who get paid millions to play a sport they love and show this kind of disrespect to their employers. Regardless of whether Liverpool's conduct was really dodgy or just downright dumb, I really do not like to see these spoiled players showing such an extreme lack of loyalty to the shirt and fans they represent. If I wanted to leave my job and go to a bigger company, I would have the decency to go to my boss and tell him to his face. Of course, I don't have a greedy agent trying to drum up a sale to line his own fat palm with silver.

17.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:37
What does this mean for the player himself ed001? Is he also facing the prospect of a ban? Maybe not by his parent club who might not be able to afford it, but by the governing body.?

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to lead to any kind of ban for the player. His issue is that the club themselves could freeze him out and leave him in limbo and his chance to get a big move could go.}

18.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:25
We appreciate you sharing your info ed, as you have already hinted i think this is standard practice for the americans and i can't see any follow up action apart from a public telling off and a private don't get caught next time.

With regards to vvd we were always going to get our pants pulled down over this deal so maybe its the best outcome overall aside from the massive embarassment.

Moving forward through this window at any rate we must do it correct though because i shudder to think what punishment the club will get if its caught doing the same thing twice in the same window.

Do you think this will have any bearing on players we are targeting not wanting to come considering we have left vvd high and dry?

{Ed001's Note - it is common practice in business in general, end justifies the means for most companies.

That is a good point you raise, other players are going to be wary of dealing with us, if we leave VVD high and dry now.}

19.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:27
Cheers Ed001. We've not covered ourselves in glory here at all, shambolic behaviour and unprofessionalism is what is smacks of.

20.) 08 Jun 2017 08:42:11
So just reiterating what has been in the press.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. I do not read the press.}

21.) 08 Jun 2017 08:44:32
Thank you for the swift response Ed. Much appreciated mate. And thank you for all the hard work! This promises to be a window like no other for you guys! All the best :) .

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is like no other. This seems to have become a recurring theme.}

22.) 08 Jun 2017 09:11:00
Thanks eds for the info. Really appreciate your time forwarding your knowledge on this situation.

23.) 08 Jun 2017 09:30:25
Agree with Max, thanks Ed, appreciate you sharing the info.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Lj.}

24.) 08 Jun 2017 10:25:18
Thanks Eds for the in depth post, we all appreciate it on here, we'd all be clueless if it wasn't for you lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

25.) 08 Jun 2017 11:52:37
Thanks for the info Ed's, but I have to ask, why is it so hard to do it properly, whether the agent instigated it or not? Even if the agent said that the player is doing it with his club's blessing, how hard is it to confirm that with the club? Something is really wrong somewhere within the club and it's not rocket science how it can be fixed!

{Ed001's Note - it is not that hard at all.}

26.) 08 Jun 2017 12:10:38
Ed is part of the problem that the powers of be just aren't from football background? Is it just simple naivity from people that don't know? Most if not all of our top brass are from everywhere BUT football. Is it just me being naive?

{Ed001's Note - very few clubs have top brass from a footballing background.}

27.) 08 Jun 2017 12:11:08
What was Fonte's dream move ED001?

{Ed001's Note - to play for Mourinho.}

28.) 09 Jun 2017 13:45:14
Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

Very good . Gives us an insight on players with their situations and some we won't know much about . Very good !!

08 Mar 2015 18:12:53
So what do you think will happen in the summer then Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by January to offset FFP issues), and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed at this time), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.
RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that MAnquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.
CB: I suspect a new deal will be offered to Toure and the club will have to have a clear out of CBs in any case. I doubt a CB is a priority.
MF: Milner, Khedira, Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez
F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen). Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Germain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence. }

1.) 08 Mar 2015 19:06:20
Interesting read, thanks Eds.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 22:03:31
Great work, eds. This is what this site is all about, just a shame it gets hindered by the trolls from time to time!

3.) 09 Mar 2015 00:27:59
Realistically we're only looking to add one in each position right, Eds? So say we signed Ings, Vietto would then be out of the question?

I'd love Khedira but worry about his injury record so can't see FSG taking such a risk.
Would the signings of Romero, Milner, Ings and possibly a battle for Carvalho if we make top 4 seem like a realistic scenario come the summer Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation as I understand it. I cannot sensibly answer questions about different combinations of the players.}

4.) 09 Mar 2015 02:53:55
Thanks a lot ed fot that reply

5.) 09 Mar 2015 07:21:48
Brilliant work Ed001, seducing Ed002 to spill the beans. Was it that "humongous" backside that did the trick?

Also, which Vazquez and Germain are these?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas and it should be Matteo Darmain.}

6.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:06
Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

7.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:22
great post Ed002. i would like to know if we are really interested in morgan sanson of montpellier? i watched montpellier games few times and he looked a class midfielder and ran the show. i think he will be perfect for liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - No, he would be my choice of player from who will be available.}

8.) 09 Mar 2015 04:28:55
Brilliant views Ed002 thanks!. saves endless questions about targets!, but what about ED001? Care to add anything?

{Ed001's Note - not a lot to add to that, I do believe we have decided against Ryan, despite his agent's best efforts to get him a move, he simply is not good enough for the top leagues and so will probably move to a low end team in Spain or Italy.
Bakkali we were discussing on the editor's widget and I did mention to the other editors yesterday that the feeling is that he is 'difficult' and best avoided.
Turan will again be looking to join us, but I doubt we will have the finances required sadly.
Mostly it is going to be about moving players out to buy new ones, though the removal of Johnson and Gerrard does clear up any issues with the wage bill being too high. It is just that we have to avoid building up debt while the stadium is being rebuilt, so it is going to be a time to be careful with our spending. Thankfully the new TV deal will mean we can sell to buy, rather than having to sell to pay for the stadium.}

9.) 09 Mar 2015 10:12:41
Great response from Ed2 and comments from Ed.

That's what makes this site the best around.

10.) 11 Mar 2015 06:12:36
Liverpool need to make Ed002 DOF now.

Review Of The Day 23rd October 2018

23 Oct 2018 07:29:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 23rd October 2018

1.) 23 Oct 2018 08:01:05
Thanks Ed, seems like a smart move from Dolberg, best place for his development, see it all too often where they leave too early. How big a future do you expect he may have in the game Ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on injuries, he struggled with them last season and he needs to get a few seasons without any of those kind of problems.}

2.) 23 Oct 2018 08:04:36
Morning Ed, thanks very much mate hope you have a great day!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate you too.}

3.) 23 Oct 2018 10:30:54
Thanks Ed. Sitting 7th in a 3 team league is classic. Have a great day.

{Ed001's Note - glad you liked mate.}

4.) 23 Oct 2018 13:57:50
Cheers Ed001, also enjoyed the '7th in a 3 team league' line.

I do feel a little sympathetic towards Lopetegui, I imagine it was Madrid's decision to announce his arrival that lost him the Spain job (though he obviously should have waited till after the world cup to agree to it) . His appointment as a whole reminds me of Rafa's appointment, a lamb set for the slaughter while the club consider what to do next. I think the lack of transfers reflect that, Madrid struggled in the league year last year and knew it would be even worse this year without Ronaldo. I'd be curious if they have a replacement in mind already or if they're waiting on factors outside of their control.

{Ed001's Note - they certainly have options in mind and it is only a matter of timing for Lopetegui to go. I don't know of any final decision being made on a replacement though.}

5.) 23 Oct 2018 14:39:20
Cheers for that ed, much appreciated.

Review Of The Day 22nd October 2018

22 Oct 2018 07:29:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 22nd October 2018

1.) 22 Oct 2018 07:34:13
Cheers Ed, great read that, the knowledge you have is admirable, I love the extra bit you added on. Thanks mate, have a great day!

{Ed001's Note - had to do something, all there is today is results and there is little point me covering them.}

2.) 22 Oct 2018 08:38:45
Good insight Ed, shameful they mocked Cruyff!

{Ed001's Note - it was the way those two were, they needed to be taught respect and he did so.}

3.) 22 Oct 2018 09:27:01
Class ed, loved the anecdotes. Poor old trigger- hilarious lad though and really decent guy.

4.) 22 Oct 2018 10:40:26
Thank you ed. I love Cruyff stories. Have a great day.

{Ed001's Note - me too, he was a genius.}

5.) 22 Oct 2018 12:51:54
Loved the bit about McAteer, his nickname was trigger from only fools and horses but he thought he got his nickname because he took so many shots on goal and the snooker player he shouted 180 was Jimmy White.

{Ed001's Note - actually his nickname was double trigger because Rob Jones was already at the club and had the nickname trigger and Jase was twice as thick.}

6.) 22 Oct 2018 19:31:36
ED001 that was so good! 😀
What are the chances we get one "and finally" regularly?
Pretty please?

{Ed001's Note - when I first started I did do them pretty regularly, I guess I could do that again on a more regular basis. Maybe every Monday as it is mostly just results anyway?}

7.) 22 Oct 2018 21:49:26
That was wonderful thanks ed! Made a royal mockery of PNE.

{Ed001's Note - did anyone get the word it made up though?}

8.) 22 Oct 2018 22:55:45
Not had much time to spend on here of late but that was a cracking read. Thanks Tris!

Jones? Royal mockery? Don’t be so precious princess 😝.

{Ed001's Note - glad you enjoyed mate.}

9.) 23 Oct 2018 17:58:39
Hi Ed001. I did reply first thing yesterday morning, thanking you and giving answer to the anagram. Not sure what happened to my post. PRICINESS. All the best mate.

{Ed001's Note - well done mate.}

Huddersfield Town v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

21 Oct 2018 19:59:14
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Huddersfield Town v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

1.) 21 Oct 2018 20:14:58
Nice review ed.
I did shake my head yesterday when I saw Lallana on team sheet, and your review has verified that.
Does klopp not see he is a hindrance?

{Ed001's Note - he was in to get his match fitness up and sharpness back ready for the rest of the season.}

2.) 21 Oct 2018 21:03:41
Thanks Ed, I also think what you said about Lallana was spot on but I must admit I was shouting at Robertson too, when he makes his forward runs and we get caught in position, he’s lost up front and can’t get back quick enough, so annoying when he does that
Once again mate thanks for the review of the game and as I’ve said before, I never read the papers for theirs only your one.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, that is a great compliment. Robbo was really struggling yesterday. I know he got no help from Lallana but he should have done better. The difference today watching Wan-Bissaka (sp?) dealing with Bernard and Digne was night and day. He was at them and closing them off aggressively ensuring that they were unable to get time and space to cross. A proper full-back's job and he got forward as well! I hope our lads watched that as they could learn from that kid.}

3.) 21 Oct 2018 21:05:24
Slightly harsh on Lallana ed, he was more of a 1/ 10 for me.

{Ed001's Note - yeah maybe a teensy bit harsh. But he lost half a point for making me shout and swear so much the neighbours interrupted me watching the game to come round and ask if everything was ok.}

4.) 21 Oct 2018 21:06:23
Thank you for that Ed. I really can't disagree with anything. I especially liked your comments on Lallana. When he first signed with us and especially when Klopp came on board, I thought he would be a game changer. I understand the injuries and all, but he has been a disappointment overall. I still think Fabinho will be an important piece for us in the second half. I also agree with you that our best back line is with Gomez partnering with VVD. Ed, do you think that Phillips has a future with the club? I'm wondering if we should commit to Gomez, sell Lovren, and promote Phillips next season.

{Ed001's Note - surely the better option would be to offload Matip to promote Phillips? I do believe he has every chance of a future, but he has to go out and grab it.}

5.) 21 Oct 2018 21:25:03
You’re right about Wan-Bissaka Ed, great player unfortunately on the losing side today and yeah it’s something that we need to work on.

{Ed001's Note - I was really impressed with the way he managed to cope despite being pretty much left to defend on his own for most of the game against two players.}

6.) 21 Oct 2018 21:32:53
Great review ed cheers! Glad to see you point out Van Dijk. I watched the game in the pub and the lads kept saying Lovren was awful but as I saw it Van Dijk was the one at fault mostly. Seems some fans can be blinded by Lovren's dodgy history!
Agree with you on Shaq seeming lost too, some great touches but almost seemed like he didn't fully understand his role and where to be at times.

{Ed001's Note - everyone always blames Lovren because they have decided they dislike him.}

7.) 21 Oct 2018 21:24:06
Lallana poor, but always is first few games back. I just wouldn't play him on the wings, hasn't got the speed or power for it. If he's going to play put him in as one of the midfield 3.

8.) 21 Oct 2018 21:30:16
Can't agree at all on the VVD comments and score and especially the Lovren comments and score, for me Lovren at times was his usual rash self especially were he dived in toward the end of the game covering for gomez which let the Huddersfield lad in and luckily he chose the wrong option and the attack fizzled out, on another day that lack of discipline leads to a goal, the rest of your analysis was pretty much spot on, especially the critique of lallana and sturridge, awful simply awful.

9.) 21 Oct 2018 22:41:05
I Agree waro. VVD cocked up when he sliced one, but Lovren was a mess all game. What was he doing rushing out of defence into no mans land, Gomez VVD CB partnership for me all day.

10.) 21 Oct 2018 23:26:45
Lovren is usually ok if the ball is coming straight at him in the centre of the pitch. Pull him out wide or put a criss in and he just goes to pieces and panics.

VVD made one glaring error, you’d hope your CD partner would cover but Lovren decided to go one better in the glaring error stakes.

11.) 22 Oct 2018 06:33:27
Class that Ed, I really don't know how you managed to rewatch it so fair play there mate lol as others have said I also completely agree with what you've said about Lallana, saying he was abysmal is kind of a compliment though mate because he was even worse than that!

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame because he seemed to have figured out what Klopp wanted just before his injuries. As soon as he came back he reverted to type instead.}

12.) 22 Oct 2018 10:42:42
Sorry Ed, I wasn't having a go at Lovren with the comment to sell. I wasn't even thinking about Matip. That makes better sense. Thanks for the comment on Phillips.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate, I guessed you must have forgotten about Matip.}

13.) 22 Oct 2018 21:03:56
Great read, Ed. I was shocked at the lallana pick as well BUT I won't slate him too much cos it was his first start so not too surprised with his perf. As for the rest, no qualms from me on your assessment and I will say that that Wan-Bissaka lad is a true gem. Plays the FB position the way it is supposed to be played.

As for VVD, I agree he was poor in his approach BUT could it be that it was cos he is struggling with his rib injury cos at times, he looked in pain and knackered? As for Lovren, the guy can't catch a break. I put him in the Hendo basket as in, all he has to do is just be in the team and will get blamed for us not winning even tho he had a good game. VVD can be poor (like this game or vs Leicester) and excuses will be made for him whereas all Lovs has to do is stand next to VVD and if a goal is scored, he will get the blame even if someone else made the mistake.

{Ed001's Note - VVD was just too laid back, he made mistakes that were nothing to do with being in pain, they were just lazy. Such as the constant back passes playing Alisson into pressure, when he could have just played a forward ball or put it over the top for Salah to chase. He was just doing the easy thing all the time. No excuse having broken ribs, that is an excuse for not moving much, not for picking the wrong pass or getting yourself out of position because you weren't concentrating. If anything, I would expect him to concentrate harder, to try and block the pain out. By now he should be used to it anyway, it has been weeks he has been playing with the problem, and he has not done this in every game. Just the 'easier' ones where he is not mentally up for it, imo. The important thing is we got through it without conceding anyway.}

14.) 22 Oct 2018 22:03:03
Thanks for the response, Ed. VVD's performance only supports Koeman's recent comments about him (which I agree with) BUT many on here where shamelessly defending VVD by slating Koeman for being a poor CB in his playing days, as if that has anything to do with him voicing the bl**ding obvious about VVD''s flaws, which are clear to see for anyone with two eyes and a functioning brain.

{Ed001's Note - Koeman does have a point, and he would probably know well due to it having been one of his problems, other than an inability to actually defend. He was one of the first modern day defenders imo, great on the ball but struggled to actually defend.}

15.) 23 Oct 2018 14:44:27
Lovren just like mignolet just like karius and just like moreno has been a liability since he got here.

Lovren is rash, lacks concentration, is positionally suspect and as slow as a turtle strapped to a breeze block and its ironic you use the term "functioning brain" because he doesn't have one.

Name one top team who would take lovren from us? You've heard his life story, feel sorry for him and have decided subconsciously to support him no matter what, ever heard of clouded judgment?

16.) 23 Oct 2018 19:26:24
Utter nonsense, Waro. None of what you posted is true about Lovren. Lovren? Slow? Again, nonsense. Lovs has blinding pace as a CB. He is comfortably two-footed and can play on the left or right side comfortably, something VVD can't do. You comparing him to Migs and Moreno is quite pathetic and misleading cos he has improved MASSIVELY since his BR days playing next to a completely useless Skrtel. If you think comparing him to those players makes your point more poignant then you are fooling yourself cos Lovs' performances have been top notch since his Spurs debacle.

The man fought back well from that debacle (that could have destroyed him both on and off the pitch) to play a blinder of a season esp. w/ VVD next to him, shutting down the legendary CR7) in the CL final. He then went to the WC and shut down EVERY striker that came his way including the "golden boy" Harry Kane. He shut down Aguero as well in his first start in the PL this season. ALL FACTS, bro.

"Who would take Lovs off our hand? " Pretty strange question which only shows how much you know about football cos that is not how it works. Oh, did I mention that he was linked with Barcelona last week cos they're looking for a CB to replace Pique? I mean, this is too easy, man. Now, Does he have a mistake in him? He has a mistake in him as much as VVD (who was dreadful vs Hudd) and Gomez (who makes mistakes as well BUT we are prepared to give him a break cos he is young and talented) has mistakes in them as well. These are facts I just laid out, not any made-up malarkey. You may not like Lovs BUT stop making up utter nonsense to support your point. That's just weak and pathetic, IMO.

Review Of The Day 21st October 2018

21 Oct 2018 07:29:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 21st October 2018

1.) 21 Oct 2018 08:23:36
Morning Ed,

Sarri is being a bit delusional with them comments isn't he? I mean come on lol that's laughable.

Thanks very much mate, hope it's a good Sunday for you.

{Ed001's Note - I think he is being honest, they do have a good team, Mourinho is not getting the most from it.}

2.) 21 Oct 2018 08:55:42
I'd agree with that Ed mate but what I don't agree with is him saying they might have the best team in the premier league. They certainly have a good team but ours, Chelsea's and City's are the better teams. The best thing for Utd would be getting rid of Mourinho, the best thing for us would be him staying there lol.

3.) 21 Oct 2018 09:11:23
Thanks Ed. I also think Spurs have a better team than Utd. But Sarri is showing respect which is fair play. I liked Poch’s interview. He probably is a genius.

4.) 21 Oct 2018 11:53:29
I really like Sarri, I think he speaks honestly and wisely.
Utd do have a strong squad, they finished 2nd last season. Their subs are quality but I’m happy to see them struggle. For whatever reason.
Probably Mourinho is better off elsewhere.

5.) 21 Oct 2018 13:08:16
Thanks Ed. I agree with The Juicer. I also think Sarri's approach to football and the media, especially the way he handled the situation yesterday is refreshing. Have a great day everyone.

Review Of The Day 20th October 2018

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 20th October 2018

1.) 20 Oct 2018 07:43:49
If anyone wants a laugh on this fine Saturday morning, Jermaine "Love Rat" Pennant was on the Jeremy Kyle Show!

{Ed001's Note - I am ashamed the club signed that ****.}

2.) 20 Oct 2018 07:44:34
Thanks very much Ed mate, Id usually say I hope you will have a great day but I know you will when you witness us annihilate Huddersfield! :) .

{Ed001's Note - let's hope so!}

3.) 20 Oct 2018 07:54:14
Me too Ed, me too. Cheers for the review by the way. I don't post much these days but I do still read the site.

{Ed001's Note - glad to see you are still about mate. How are things?}

4.) 20 Oct 2018 08:51:45
Pennant on the JK show! That’s horrendous.
Shame Hazard is happy at Chelsea Ed001 - haha.

{Ed001's Note - I just wish he was so happy he would shut up and concentrate on playing football. Why can't footballers keep their mouths shut and leave the deals to the agents they employ to do that?}

5.) 20 Oct 2018 09:52:48
Exactly Ed, took the words out of my mouth there mate, it really winds me up because it's happening far too often, players rambling on about BS instead of doing what they're meant to be doing which is simply playing bloody football. Attention seeking, spoiled brats the majority of them.

Good to see you on the site MK, your posts are missed mate, I hope the new job is going well for you and your family.

6.) 20 Oct 2018 09:54:21
I'm taking my boys to the Cardiff Fulham match today. Warnock seriously does my head in, some of the crap he spouts is just embarrassing. I'll be happy once he's replaced.

7.) 20 Oct 2018 10:08:55
Warcock shouldn't be in the sport at all welsh mate, he's an absolute disgrace.

8.) 20 Oct 2018 11:31:07
Totally agree Ed001.One minute he’s flirting with Madrid, the next he loves walking along the Fulham Road.

{Ed001's Note - it is just disrespectful. If he had given an interview saying as a kid he supported Real Madrid, that would have dropped the hint that he would be keen to play for them, without disrespecting Chelsea. There is no need to make comments about holding back on contract talks at all. He should avoid commenting on them, they should remain private.}

9.) 20 Oct 2018 12:00:30
Good thanks 001. Hope your back is feeling better.

Job's going really well, Salah. Long hours but it pays the bills! Thanks for asking. How's the recovery going?

{Ed001's Note - fine now mate, just taught me a lesson, never put it off when it hurts.

Glad your new job is going well for you, I hope it is enjoyable as well as paying the bills.}

10.) 20 Oct 2018 11:34:58
Cheers ed001, Rummenigge has become embarrassing.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't get the point in biting back. You can't win that way. The only thing you can do is back the manager and hope he wins matches. If he does, then the media will shut up.}

11.) 20 Oct 2018 12:30:48
Thanks Ed. Good to see MK on here again. Have a great day everyone.

12.) 20 Oct 2018 13:12:46
Very happy to hear the job is going well MK. I'm getting better, much quicker than expected thanks for asking mate. Just not cleared for work yet which tbh I find BS but you know what it's like, to many formalities. Got to see not only a Dr but also a psychiatrist (spelling) next week, pile of bull*hit if you ask me but there you go.

13.) 20 Oct 2018 16:33:13
Cheers ed, it’s much appreciated mate. Hope all is well with you. Hey mk, your posts are sorely missed from the site. Hope all is well with you as well.

14.) 20 Oct 2018 21:51:06
You seem mentally sound to me salah. Good to see your name mk we miss you bud.

Apologies my mistake, Sakho is going to Palace, I meant to say WBA want him to replace Evans if a deal can't be done with Palace. I really am sorry, it was early and that was a silly mistake not to read back through and check. Thankfully Ed002 pointed it out to me.

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Ed002 has some more info on this, which he will hopefully add, and point out I made a mistake assuming a party flying from London might not mean a London club, doh!

{Ed002's Note - As of an hour or so ago Inter's business for the other player has now been concluded and they are looking to sort out the Shaquiri transaction by tonight or tomorrow morning. Their real plus point is that the player wants to move to Italy with them. Against them is that they are unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Therefore if Liverpool want to do something about Shaqiri it must be very soon - and if they are going to pay up front they must have access to the cash. They will also need to persuade the player that he should move to Liverpool.}

It is meant to be just one bet due to the competitions we are intending to run, it would be too easy to rack up lots of points by just making all the possible bets each race.

Sorry I knocked the mouse button and submitted before I had finished. The clubs are also there to deal with. It is only some players that won't talk to clubs during the World Cup. I think the lack of activity is perceived as newspapers are not making up as much bull, as they are focused on the tournament.
