6 days to go!

On the 16th of June our Facebook page will go live to a charity match the site has organised, in aid of Seva and Macmillan nurses.
It will be a 3pm kick off!
Please share and like our page to support the boys taking part. We have one crowdfunded page on justgiving that raised £300 before prematurely ending so stay tuned for a new one setting up. We are hopeful to raise £1000 with this and the players match fees.

This is also the last call for anyone else who wants to play in the game held in north oxfordshire. Current players range from all abilities and ages! So do not feel you cannot contribute.

Text me on 07719565417 for more info!

Will ed001's "Just like watching brazil" better ed002's "Walham green east wapping, carpet cleaning rodent and boggit exterminating association"....FC?

Who is your money on?!

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:47:19
Every time I see posts about this I kick myself because I lived in Oxfordshire but moved to Liverpool last year ;_;
Would have loved to play after work but would never make it there in time now xD

Good luck to everybody participating and ed2s players repeating that name haha.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:30:30
Going to be a struggle carving that name onto a trophy haha
Happy to donate and looking forward to watching the live stream.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 23:36:30
Would love to have made it from Ireland. Well done to all involved as it's for a great cause. Enjoy the day and be proud.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 23:41:46
How are you going to fit that team name on a jersey?

5.) 11 Jun 2018 01:37:23
I’m gutted, I was going to play and had it tied to when I was back in the uk ( I live in aus) my trip moved numerous times. I’ll be back in time but pulled a hamstring 2 weeks ago so can’t play regardless!

6.) 11 Jun 2018 06:26:45
Would have loved to play and show off my silky skills but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. If successful maybe we could make this an annual thing?

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:09:13
Any chance to do some commentary from India, Ed001? xD.

08 Jun 2017 06:28:27
Having spoken to the person who has been keeping me informed on this, to get clarity, I think it is time I gave the full explanation of what I am now being told. I am going to refer to the person as he/ him, just because it is easier rather than because it is a male.

So I have pestered him, because I wanted some clarification of the full story and to know if I am being deliberately fed misinformation to keep the club out of trouble. He claims that he is telling me exactly what he has been told, that there is no attempt to mislead me on his behalf, either knowingly or unknowingly. So this is basically the story as he gives it:

After matches Klopp will often chat with opposition players, just a friendly chat, nothing untoward, many managers will do it.

However, remarks were made to VVD along the lines of 'I would love to have you in my team' or similar when we have faced Southampton. Which VVD has obviously taken to heart, though we have no way of knowing if Klopp was making the first moves towards a signing or just making a throwaway remark regarding the player. So that could be seen as a problem in the light of following events, though would normally not even be noticed.

Anyway, last summer things were a bit unsettled there with Jose Fonte fighting to leave and it caused a few issues with a number of the players there, who felt Fonte was unfairly treated after his years of service to the club. There are a number of players there who did not like the treatment Fonte received and felt he should have been allowed to make his dream move, rather than held to his contract and then ended up in limbo before joining West Ham United just to get away from Saints. VVD has at this point made the decision he wants to go and asked his agent to put out feelers looking for interested parties.

We showed interest at this point, I don't have dates, I have never had any kind of dates to give, which is why I have never mentioned any, but I would assume this is just after the January window, as this was when he was disgruntled. However, instead of going direct to the club and seeking permission to speak to them and him over a summer move, we spoke directly to the agent.

Now our excuse, which is why I am told the club immediately backed out and apologised, is that we were told the agent and player came to us with Saints' blessing. I will leave you to make up your own mind over the truth of that claim, as I really do not know. I have no way to verify that information one way or the other.

To cut a long story short, the player, agent and club sorted out a deal, then and only then do LFC go to Saints to negotiate a price. That is when all hell broke loose and Soton investigated, made a complaint etc.

That is how he explained it to me, but I have no way to verify any of it, which is why I am giving you a full version as he tells it. In the past he has been reliable, though he has often asked me not to pass on things, the info he has given had checked out. This time I am not sure though, this feels too neat and like someone is trying to shift the blame. Either way the club is at fault for not ensuring they had permission to speak to the player.

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:43:11
Make you right ed001 with it sounding to contrived but it does not mean what he has said is not the truth. Like you say it's not difficult to follow the correct way of approaching a transfer a club either says yes or no what is the problem. Baffling really still men in suits are never the smartest.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the club still has this issue. We do not need to act underhand, the club is, in terms of brand power, according to those that measure these things, ahead of all but Man Utd in English football. We should not need to be underhand to attract quality players. They should want to play for us because of who we are. So just concentrate on getting the right deal with their current club, then worry about convincing the player.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 06:48:37
Qyestion for the Eds, not just about this event. What is the situation regarding speaking to agents. As i understand it agents put feelers out to other clubs and that is ok. In those circumstances i assume it is ok for a club to speak to the agent. If that has happened can the club contact the agent again for further discussions? Is it a case of the player basically can't be in the room with them? Or more complicated, e. g. you can't talk beyond a certain point even with the agent? Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - if a club wish to talk to a player who is under contract at a club then they must inform the parent club for permission DL, anything less is seen as "tapping up" even if its done through the agent mate..

3.) 08 Jun 2017 06:55:11
Shame Ed, at the very least I hope the club learn a lesson, I think we're sailing very close to the wind with our transfer activity.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 07:00:49
Thanks Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

5.) 08 Jun 2017 07:05:44
Its the premier league response that intreagues me. Would it not be the case that if they thought we were genuinely guilty of wrong doing on purpose then just an apology from us would be irrelevant?

{Ed025's Note - i must say that you make a fair point slowdog, maybe we have not heard the last of it yet mate..

6.) 08 Jun 2017 07:15:27
We have read news that VVD agent also spoke to Conte and Pep; that would have constituted tapping too right?

{Ed001's Note - no, you are missing the point, the intermediary can speak to others, it is the player himself that is unable to discuss things.}

7.) 08 Jun 2017 07:17:07
Do you think this is the end of the saga with LFC and VVD ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what Saints think. If they are satisfied with the apology and us backing away, then yes. Though a lot comes down to VVD himself as well.}

8.) 08 Jun 2017 07:31:15
If Saints had any decency, they'd accept the apology and move on. Liverpool acted underhandedly but, judging from ed001's post, not in a deliberate way. It's not like the club had been scheming to prevent a bidding war that Southampton were entitled to.

9.) 08 Jun 2017 07:30:15
Thank you for letting us know the situation ED001, we appreciate it!

I was on these pages when the whole Clint Dempsey saga happened and it's beyond belief that the club can act in such a amateurish fashion! Or is it arrogance on the clubs part?

Considering how many times we have dealt with Southampton over the past few years makes this surprising as well as irritating to say the least!

Again, thanks for keeping us in the loop Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like arrogance to me, believing they can do what they want with no consequence.}

10.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:05
Hey ED001. Is the extent to which the VVD deal played out in the media seen as a massive issue by the club? I know this doesn't excuse the club's behaviour but the extent to which transfer info is leaked is quite extraordinary. Similarly a lot has been written bout the Salah deal. Can the club not conduct business in a private professional manner, or is it just the case that this not easily done in modern football? Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, the club put a lot of effort into keeping things quiet in the past, hence the Jen Chang thing. Now it has gone back to the old flood of info coming out. It is not easy to keep things quiet, but it certainly should not be coming out in the amounts LFC are producing it.}

11.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:11
eds i know this is an outrageous idea/ thought, but truth be known the window don't open until july between now and then the saints accept the apology after believing because of the blame game as you said, that the tapping up was accidentally stupid, could liverpool get the deal sorted and pay more as in a way to save face or is it just a stupid thought.

{Ed001's Note - it could happen and has happened in the past. The likelihood is that we will not pay the price regardless.}

12.) 08 Jun 2017 07:37:52
Nice one ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome and RITH is wrong. The whole point of speaking to a player is to cut out the whole auction aspect of transfers by ensuring you get the best price with the player only wanting to join you.

As for Saints, they have done nothing wrong and RITH is just showing how bitter he is by constantly deflecting and blaming the victim.}

13.) 08 Jun 2017 07:57:21
Thanks for the info Ed. Legend.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14.) 08 Jun 2017 08:03:54
Ed 1 - you make some great points here. We were discussing it in the pub last night and I think the consensus of opinion was that tapping up players has always gone on and always will to some degree. It is maybe a bit easier to hide behind agents and third parties these days than it was years ago but I think even an indirect approach - I. e. To an agent is tapping up. I know clubs often give players agents approval or even instructions to find a new club for a player maybe even with guidelines as to what a sell price may be. More often than not all of the above happens in secret.

You make a very good point that too much information seems to be leaked out of LFC and whilst it seems clear that the club has acted beyond what can be excusable (I. e. A sounding out of an agent etc. ) and especially with meeting the player directly, the leaks to the press in my view is what has really caused the most problems.

I hope there is a full investigation internally and these internal problems are fixed now or we could have a long summer of problems in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - not just a long summer, it will be the same every transfer window until we fix the internal problems.}

15.) 08 Jun 2017 08:10:12
Is there any suggestion that there will be any internal disciplinary actions taken by the club towards any LFC staff involved in the transfer Ed001? Do you think the VVD events will see Liverpool changing their approach to transfers and lack of professionalism? If nothing changes or there isn't an acceptance that change is needed then that would really stink of arrogance.

{Ed001's Note - the first thing that will happen is likely to be an internal investigation to examine what went on, what the club did wrong and what the club did right. That analysis will have to lead to changes or this summer will be nothing compared to how bad things will get for the club in the future.}

16.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:14
It's all just so distasteful. Look at what Lukaku is doing to them across the park. Young men who get paid millions to play a sport they love and show this kind of disrespect to their employers. Regardless of whether Liverpool's conduct was really dodgy or just downright dumb, I really do not like to see these spoiled players showing such an extreme lack of loyalty to the shirt and fans they represent. If I wanted to leave my job and go to a bigger company, I would have the decency to go to my boss and tell him to his face. Of course, I don't have a greedy agent trying to drum up a sale to line his own fat palm with silver.

17.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:37
What does this mean for the player himself ed001? Is he also facing the prospect of a ban? Maybe not by his parent club who might not be able to afford it, but by the governing body.?

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to lead to any kind of ban for the player. His issue is that the club themselves could freeze him out and leave him in limbo and his chance to get a big move could go.}

18.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:25
We appreciate you sharing your info ed, as you have already hinted i think this is standard practice for the americans and i can't see any follow up action apart from a public telling off and a private don't get caught next time.

With regards to vvd we were always going to get our pants pulled down over this deal so maybe its the best outcome overall aside from the massive embarassment.

Moving forward through this window at any rate we must do it correct though because i shudder to think what punishment the club will get if its caught doing the same thing twice in the same window.

Do you think this will have any bearing on players we are targeting not wanting to come considering we have left vvd high and dry?

{Ed001's Note - it is common practice in business in general, end justifies the means for most companies.

That is a good point you raise, other players are going to be wary of dealing with us, if we leave VVD high and dry now.}

19.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:27
Cheers Ed001. We've not covered ourselves in glory here at all, shambolic behaviour and unprofessionalism is what is smacks of.

20.) 08 Jun 2017 08:42:11
So just reiterating what has been in the press.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. I do not read the press.}

21.) 08 Jun 2017 08:44:32
Thank you for the swift response Ed. Much appreciated mate. And thank you for all the hard work! This promises to be a window like no other for you guys! All the best :) .

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is like no other. This seems to have become a recurring theme.}

22.) 08 Jun 2017 09:11:00
Thanks eds for the info. Really appreciate your time forwarding your knowledge on this situation.

23.) 08 Jun 2017 09:30:25
Agree with Max, thanks Ed, appreciate you sharing the info.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Lj.}

24.) 08 Jun 2017 10:25:18
Thanks Eds for the in depth post, we all appreciate it on here, we'd all be clueless if it wasn't for you lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

25.) 08 Jun 2017 11:52:37
Thanks for the info Ed's, but I have to ask, why is it so hard to do it properly, whether the agent instigated it or not? Even if the agent said that the player is doing it with his club's blessing, how hard is it to confirm that with the club? Something is really wrong somewhere within the club and it's not rocket science how it can be fixed!

{Ed001's Note - it is not that hard at all.}

26.) 08 Jun 2017 12:10:38
Ed is part of the problem that the powers of be just aren't from football background? Is it just simple naivity from people that don't know? Most if not all of our top brass are from everywhere BUT football. Is it just me being naive?

{Ed001's Note - very few clubs have top brass from a footballing background.}

27.) 08 Jun 2017 12:11:08
What was Fonte's dream move ED001?

{Ed001's Note - to play for Mourinho.}

28.) 09 Jun 2017 13:45:14
Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

Very good . Gives us an insight on players with their situations and some we won't know much about . Very good !!

08 Mar 2015 18:12:53
So what do you think will happen in the summer then Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by January to offset FFP issues), and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed at this time), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.
RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that MAnquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.
CB: I suspect a new deal will be offered to Toure and the club will have to have a clear out of CBs in any case. I doubt a CB is a priority.
MF: Milner, Khedira, Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez
F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen). Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Germain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence. }

1.) 08 Mar 2015 19:06:20
Interesting read, thanks Eds.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 22:03:31
Great work, eds. This is what this site is all about, just a shame it gets hindered by the trolls from time to time!

3.) 09 Mar 2015 00:27:59
Realistically we're only looking to add one in each position right, Eds? So say we signed Ings, Vietto would then be out of the question?

I'd love Khedira but worry about his injury record so can't see FSG taking such a risk.
Would the signings of Romero, Milner, Ings and possibly a battle for Carvalho if we make top 4 seem like a realistic scenario come the summer Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation as I understand it. I cannot sensibly answer questions about different combinations of the players.}

4.) 09 Mar 2015 02:53:55
Thanks a lot ed fot that reply

5.) 09 Mar 2015 07:21:48
Brilliant work Ed001, seducing Ed002 to spill the beans. Was it that "humongous" backside that did the trick?

Also, which Vazquez and Germain are these?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas and it should be Matteo Darmain.}

6.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:06
Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

7.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:22
great post Ed002. i would like to know if we are really interested in morgan sanson of montpellier? i watched montpellier games few times and he looked a class midfielder and ran the show. i think he will be perfect for liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - No, he would be my choice of player from who will be available.}

8.) 09 Mar 2015 04:28:55
Brilliant views Ed002 thanks!. saves endless questions about targets!, but what about ED001? Care to add anything?

{Ed001's Note - not a lot to add to that, I do believe we have decided against Ryan, despite his agent's best efforts to get him a move, he simply is not good enough for the top leagues and so will probably move to a low end team in Spain or Italy.
Bakkali we were discussing on the editor's widget and I did mention to the other editors yesterday that the feeling is that he is 'difficult' and best avoided.
Turan will again be looking to join us, but I doubt we will have the finances required sadly.
Mostly it is going to be about moving players out to buy new ones, though the removal of Johnson and Gerrard does clear up any issues with the wage bill being too high. It is just that we have to avoid building up debt while the stadium is being rebuilt, so it is going to be a time to be careful with our spending. Thankfully the new TV deal will mean we can sell to buy, rather than having to sell to pay for the stadium.}

9.) 09 Mar 2015 10:12:41
Great response from Ed2 and comments from Ed.

That's what makes this site the best around.

10.) 11 Mar 2015 06:12:36
Liverpool need to make Ed002 DOF now.

GREAT TEAMS PART 3: The 1927 New York Yankees Baseball Team

18 Feb 2019 09:23:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, GREAT TEAMS PART 3: The 1927 New York Yankees Baseball Team

1.) 18 Feb 2019 09:46:54
I know nothing about baseball, but I've been hearing that the current Red Sox team is the greatest in history. How do the two compare?

2.) 18 Feb 2019 10:26:55
I'm a HUGE Red Sox fan and can't stand the Yankees, so for me to say this is very painful, but the '27 Yankess are generally considered the greatest of all time. I'd say that this past season for the red sox was the greatest of this century so far though.

3.) 18 Feb 2019 16:43:09
Such an interesting read about something I know nothing about. Great work!

4.) 18 Feb 2019 19:41:00
The Evil Empire.

5.) 18 Feb 2019 21:24:20
Can't stand the Yankees. Red Sox (and Boston Celtics) supporter all the way.

Review Of The Day 18th February 2019

18 Feb 2019 07:29:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 18th February 2019

1.) 18 Feb 2019 07:47:29
I pat my ketchup bottle while the cap still on, and it still works, and without having it splattering everywhere. Not sure how this can be used as a metaphor though. Help me on this. ;)

{Ed001's Note - sounds more like a euphemism.}

2.) 18 Feb 2019 08:14:18
Shame on you Cardiff! So wrong on every level.

Ramos that is a stat that you should not be proud of. Shocking really when you think about it.
Neymar HAHA!

3.) 18 Feb 2019 08:38:50
Neymar :D Im glad that the people who actually understands football sees what kind of footballer he is!

4.) 18 Feb 2019 08:42:03
Morning Ed, hilarious about Neymar, it just goes to show how much he's disliked, the little turd. I'd of paid to of seen his face when he saw the votes, he wouldn't of liked that! Cheers mate, hope you have a good Monday.

{Ed001's Note - I am surprised though, I thought Brazilians loved him. Must have finally realised he is not all that. The poll was only done because some magazine or other in Brazil said Neymar was the best since Pele. Clearly no one agrees!}

5.) 18 Feb 2019 09:01:26
Cheers. This issue between Cardiff and Nantes is utterly disrespectful and indicative to what the modern game has become. I understand with it being such a unique situation, and the money involved it was always going to result in legality issues but all parties should have made it priority to keep everything behind closed doors. Very distasteful.

{Ed001's Note - it is not really all that unique, this kind of thing happens all the time, with career-ending injuries etc. The difference is that it is usually just mostly covered by insurance and the buying club pay what is left without all this carry on. Cardiff just messed up because they are unprofessional and did not make all the arrangements themselves to ensure they would be covered.}

6.) 18 Feb 2019 09:13:21
Hi Ed, are Cardiff not trying to sue the football agent McKay, as he admitted deliberately inflating the Sala transfer value? Either way, it's embarrassing and this type of stuff should be done in private out of respect.

{Ed001's Note - it is one of the things they are looking into. It is disgusting. You agreed a deal, things go wrong through no one's fault, tough you just have to get on with it. What they should be doing is looking into why the club itself did not organise everything involved. They messed up and now they are trying to wheedle out of a legally agreed deal because of it.}

7.) 18 Feb 2019 09:15:09
Joke of the day that one mate, best since Pele my ar*e.

8.) 18 Feb 2019 09:43:05
I meant it was unique in terms of death, treating the situation with a bit of respect and behind closed doors. Injuries wouldn't be as sensitive an issue.

9.) 18 Feb 2019 10:08:51
I thought Cardiff did provide him option of public flight but Willie Mackey refused. I actually believe Cardiff are within their rights to hold off. Interim report should be due in a few days and that could prove easily that someone needs to be held accountable,! It should be kept behind closed doors but if Cardiff feel he was put on an unsafe plane being flown by an unlicensed pilot in rough weather i think they deserve to at least hear the report.

10.) 18 Feb 2019 10:16:39
i was surprised to hear about fodens comments. Firstly he's barely got a look in all season so his contribution has been fairly limited. secondly city actually havant won anything yet this season. maybe if they had won a cup and were in a couple of finals they would have a great chance but there is a long way to go and could still end the season with nothing other than a comeback against newport to show for it.

11.) 18 Feb 2019 10:44:34
anyone who says neymar is the best since pele has clearly never seen R9. and that man didn't even reach his potential surely with all that injuries and partying.

12.) 18 Feb 2019 11:51:42
So pleased by that survey result - Neymar doesn’t deserved to be ranked anywhere near the likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or Rivaldo etc.

Any player that ‘feels pain more than others’ to justify play acting to get others booked or sent off deserves less than zero respect.

13.) 18 Feb 2019 12:03:11
They despicable Neil Warnock and the detestable Willie McKay appear to have, ahem, a ‘special relationship’. There are numerous examples in the public domain - you just have to Google their names together - but just consider this one. In December 2017, Leeds United terminated the contracts of twin 21 year old brothers Jack and Paul McKay ‘by mutual consent’. They had made 1 senior appearance for Leeds between them. In January 2018 they were both signed by Cardiff City on two and a half year deals. Neither has made a senior appearance for Cardiff and Jack is currently on loan to Chesterfield in the National League and Paul is on loan to Morecambe in League Two. You all know, of course, that Warnock is the manager of Cardiff but did I mention that the twins’ father is Willie McKay? Still think that Cardiff will sue McKay for his behavior in the Emiliano Sala transfer?

{Ed001's Note - they do have a special relationship but this is not about Colin mate. This is over his head.}

14.) 18 Feb 2019 12:19:46
Cardiff - very distasteful.

Ramos - should have been the 50th or 100th red card he received in his career.

Top 10 players in Brazil's history - not only did this poll backfire on Neymar (if it was ever to glorify him) but it gave me hope that the people in Brazil do know who their premium players are. but i also suppose a significant number of the pollsters are older and have seen or at least heard about some of these legends.

On a slightly different note, so many great Brazilian teams filled with great players have won much more than Neymar has (and he's not some poor sod who happened to be born in an era where Brazil has a lack of quality) . So there really is not reason to name him as one of the greats. If he was truly as special as some claims (and Neymar himself probably believes), then go on and do a Maradona. Win something single handedly and perhaps a conversation about his greatness can be discussed.

15.) 18 Feb 2019 12:45:47
Exactly ed this is strictly business at this stage and it's clear already from Cardiffs actions and public statements over the last couple of weeks that they're going to push all the blame on mackay. What I also found odd wasn't it the same day they located the plane that Nantes demanded payment, maybe coincidence but they might have been fearing the found wreckage giving Cardiff a case against them. Its a messy situation.

{Ed001's Note - it was because Cardiff were meant to make an initial payment immediately but never did, so they sent the reminder that it was overdue.}

16.) 18 Feb 2019 14:17:06
Interesting Ed, on the top Brazilians. Any surprise on the rankings for you Ed?

{Ed001's Note - I personally would not have had Rivaldo up so high.}

17.) 18 Feb 2019 15:01:59
Honestly I was surprised to see Roberto Carlos so low, and to not see Dunga at all.

18.) 18 Feb 2019 18:13:38
Neymar being the best since Pele, does not even pass the laugh test.

19.) 18 Feb 2019 22:04:18
I'm assuming the Brazilian poll refers to players who are not Pele's contemporaries, and strictly after his retirement, otherwise there's be easily 5-6 players from that 1970 team that deserve a place in the top 10. But I am surprised that Junior, the left back / midfielder from the 80's is not on that list. Far more deserving than a Bebeto or Careca on that list.

Martin O'Neill

16 Feb 2019 15:48:57
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new manager profile about, Martin O'Neill

1.) 16 Feb 2019 18:35:36
Thanks Tris. Given that we have been established in the top flight for 50 years or so and not yoyoing up and down, I’m so glad that O’Neil didn’t join us. I think he was being touted around the end of the Houllier era, wasn’t he? A lot of clamour from our fans at the time IIRC?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, no idea why though.}

2.) 16 Feb 2019 19:45:01
So was Alan Curbishley.

O'Neill spectacularly went to pieces in his last two years as Ireland manager. It wasn't just long ball or direct football, it ended up as "absolutely no football whatsoever". I don't expect an Ireland manager to try and have the Boys in Green try and pass their way around Germany or France, or even teams like Denmark who aren't exactly world class, but have a little extra that we don't.

But halfway through the 2018 World Cup campaign (at one point, Ireland led the group with a respectable away draw to Serbia and a win against Austria), we went away to Georgia, we scored early and then sat back and invited them onto us. It was Georgia. Not Brazil. We should've been able to play some bit of football against them, but once we were a goal up we didn't even try. Sure enough they equalised we drew the match and things kinda nosedived from there. I suspect Roy Keane's 'impact' on the squad was taking away from the only good thing O'Neill could do: motivate the players.

And then there was his fascination with changing the formation every other match, and putting Cyrus Christie and James McClean in every position but their best ones (admittedly in which they weren't brilliant in anyway) .

3.) 16 Feb 2019 19:48:07
Actually now that I think of it, didn't O'Neill's Celtic side dump us out of the UEFA Cup in 2003 (the only thing memorable about that for us was the discovery of the rare Senagalese Spitting Cobra) and then went on to the final that year?

Could've been why some people were going for O'Neill.

4.) 16 Feb 2019 21:23:21
As an Irishmen its hard to know what to think of O'Neil especially with how the last 2 or so years have played out. Its left a lot of fans including myself, bitter to say the least. But I think this profile pretty much sums him up, a great motivator who isn't the best coach of tactician. I feel like the games past him by now and I don't think he has what it takes to adapt.

The juxtaposition between him and Keane sounds like a fun idea on paper, but Keane is incredibly toxic and he needs to disassociate himself to have a fighting chance. Regardless the Euro's were fun ride and I wish him the best at Forrest. Cheers for the profile Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

5.) 17 Feb 2019 12:55:50
What really got me about Keane in the Ireland job was the hypocrisy. I knew the man was an idiot and a bully, but I thought he at least had some degree of principle about how football should be played.

He was a poor enough manager in his own right, but he at least tried to have his teams play football. His big downfall seemed to be his inability to understand why Championship players couldn't play like him and Paul Scholes at their peaks if he shouted at them enough.

But with O'Neill, he sat there acting as the attack dog for a manager serving up the most negative, turgid, mis-shapen, disorganised crap I've ever seen from a football team anywhere (I really cannot put into to words how bad a game of football the 0-0 away draw with Denmark was, for example. Two pub teams playing on a bog the day after a triple 21st birthday celebration would've been ashamed of it) . Had he been in the dressing room as a player he'd have probably walked out on the squad in a huff. But he was happy to get a fat paycheck from the FAI to enable it as Assistant Manager.

And then to boot, after he's sacked, he comes back as a pundit spitting poison at teams who are 10 times better than anything Ireland served up while he was there.

Just a very poor quality bloke all round really.

6.) 18 Feb 2019 00:14:27
Please -Something Red- never speak of the 0-0 away draw with Denmark. Potentially the worst game of 'football' I'm had the displeasure of watching in its entirety.

Keane was an incredible player, but like so many incredible players his ability as a manager, coach and even pundit is questionable to say the least.

Review Of The Day 16th February 2019

16 Feb 2019 07:29:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 16th February 2019

1.) 16 Feb 2019 08:11:39
Thanks Ed mate. I hope justice prevails and ramos gets a full ban for another blatant act of cheating.
Excuse my ignorance Ed but I couldn't for the life of me understand the meaning of the picture you used.

{Ed001's Note - I couldn't find a decent pic to use in relation to the stories, so just grabbed one I had been sent ages ago as I was running close to the time when it would automatically upload the article and send out the links.}

2.) 16 Feb 2019 08:14:20
Thanks Ed.

What is the pic (about Giggs) about in relation to the stories today?

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - none mate, it was just a time issue, I couldn't find a picture in time so just had to use something random.}

3.) 16 Feb 2019 08:42:24
Thanks for that Ed, I'm still trying to work out who is more stupid between Hennessy and Ramos. Surely they both know that the whole football world know they're guilty of their accusations, Ramos because he actually admitted it before backtracking and Hennessy because his excuse is poorer than you'd expect from a toddler. Obviously Hennesy's is a lot more serious due to what his actions represent but I'm talking of the denials in general when caught red handed. Just baffles me how stupid these people thinks the fans are. Hope you have a good weekend.

{Ed001's Note - I really do not get their denials at all. Ramos plain as day said he deliberately got himself booked. There is no point backtracking and denying saying it. He could have easily said that it was just a misunderstanding, he was hyped on adrenalin (probably extra adrenalin from one of the many exemptions he uses for big games on a regular basis) etc and did not mean it the way it sounded. To flat out lie though, well that just makes things worse. Still he plays for Real Madrid so he will no doubt be cleared of all charges!

As for Hennessey, if anything he has his mouth covered like he is trying to whisper, not shout louder. The guy is clearly an imbecile who just can't own up to making a bad joke about the German guy who the picture was for.}

4.) 16 Feb 2019 08:48:41
The picture made me chuckle at least ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

5.) 16 Feb 2019 09:19:22
Ah that makes sense Ed. I was expecting to see a story about shrek aka Rooney. 😂.

{Ed001's Note - why Rooney? What has he got to do with the picture?}

6.) 16 Feb 2019 09:35:08
Just assumed he would be the type to have 'played with his brothers wife' but assuming it's referring to giggs as mentioned by Sandman?

{Ed001's Note - of course it is Giggs.}

7.) 16 Feb 2019 09:45:24
Thanks very much Ed, have a good Saturday mate.

{Ed001's Note - you too mate take care.}

8.) 16 Feb 2019 10:06:00
Apologies Ed haha, I'll crawl back under my rock.

{Ed001's Note - did you really not know about the Giggs affair with his sister-in-law which he spent years trying to shut down newspaper reports about? I mean there is even an advertising campaign with his brother referring to it running at the moment!}

9.) 16 Feb 2019 10:29:00
Honestly can't recall hearing about it Ed. News like that doesn't really tend to make it down under. I guess we have enough of our own local sporting controversies. Excuse my ignorance. ;)

{Ed001's Note - ah ok. He did have one of those super injunction on the news for years.}

10.) 16 Feb 2019 10:44:23
Cheers for the clarification Ed!

I remember before the Giggs story broke. Everyone would always talk about how much of a sound bloke he was. The type of lad you would feel happy about inviting round to tea with your ma! The best ambassador of football you could wish for! How wrong we all were. There are not many things worse in the world than having a multi-year long relationship with your brothers misses.

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - it certainly changed his image completely! Makes you wonder how much more is hidden away about him. Would explain why Fergie worked so hard to keep him out of the limelight.}

11.) 16 Feb 2019 10:46:09
Thanks for the info Ed. Could be that I'm just so used to hearing about players doing stupid stuff that it went over my head. Hope you have a good weekend mate.

{Ed001's Note - yeah I guess. I suppose football is not that important down there either so wouldn't be such big news. You too mate.}

Sporting Villains 2: Harold Schumacher

15 Feb 2019 09:53:12
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Sporting Villains 2: Harold Schumacher

1.) 15 Feb 2019 10:49:42
One of your best Ed. Thank you for what you do.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it. Was very interesting researching it. I never knew anything about his autobiography causing issues in Germany before now.}

2.) 15 Feb 2019 11:37:27
I remember my old man telling me about Schumacher tackle. I never saw it for yrs until YouTube existed. Unbelievable.

{Ed001's Note - it is one of the worst ever defo. Absolutely shocking that he still denies it was deliberate.}

3.) 15 Feb 2019 13:18:09
Fair play ed mate, your banging these articles out. All great reads too cheers.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate really glad you think that.}

4.) 15 Feb 2019 14:14:14
Great article - lovely to read about some of these events of days past. That tackle was pure assault. he clearly jumps after the ball is past him, and away from the path of the ball and into the player, turning his hip into him as he goes. Brutal.

{Ed001's Note - you don't get more obvious than that. Still hard to believe he got away with it.}

5.) 15 Feb 2019 16:24:32
Really great article Ed001, a true villain of the game. Is Platini on the legends list?

{Ed001's Note - he seems to have been overlooked so I have added him.}

6.) 15 Feb 2019 16:54:16
Is maradonna going to be another villain in this series Ed? (Hand of god)
Or even David Beckham? I remember he was a villain for a while after lashing out and getting himself sent off in 98 I think?, I remember he was crucified in the media after that.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate both are on the list for those reasons.}

7.) 15 Feb 2019 18:35:13
Good work enjoyed that read.

{Ed001's Note - cheers neggs.}

8.) 15 Feb 2019 18:40:57
Excellent read that was Ed. One of yiur best that I've read. Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - thanks Kk I appreciate that.}

9.) 15 Feb 2019 21:57:23
Fantastic mate.

10.) 15 Feb 2019 21:59:38
Cheers Ed have a good Friday mate.

11.) 15 Feb 2019 19:51:10
Great read, Ed. I lived in France for 5 years and trust me, NOBODY mentions Schumacher's name when talking football. The anger of the pundits just grow. What he did to Battiston (I knew he lost two teeth BUT did not know about his other injuries and his coma) and his disgusting behavior afterwards, was just too much to bear.

{Ed001's Note - still it might have been a slight overreaction to have him as more hated than Hitler!}

Apologies my mistake, Sakho is going to Palace, I meant to say WBA want him to replace Evans if a deal can't be done with Palace. I really am sorry, it was early and that was a silly mistake not to read back through and check. Thankfully Ed002 pointed it out to me.

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Ed002 has some more info on this, which he will hopefully add, and point out I made a mistake assuming a party flying from London might not mean a London club, doh!

{Ed002's Note - As of an hour or so ago Inter's business for the other player has now been concluded and they are looking to sort out the Shaquiri transaction by tonight or tomorrow morning. Their real plus point is that the player wants to move to Italy with them. Against them is that they are unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Therefore if Liverpool want to do something about Shaqiri it must be very soon - and if they are going to pay up front they must have access to the cash. They will also need to persuade the player that he should move to Liverpool.}

It is meant to be just one bet due to the competitions we are intending to run, it would be too easy to rack up lots of points by just making all the possible bets each race.
