05 Nov 2017 22:23:11
alright everyone just had the radio on and Philip George 'Wish you were mine' came on made me think we could use it to give Nathaniel Clyne a warm welcome back whenever he is fit
'Oh we love Nathaniel Clyne
Ah la la
Ah la la la ah la! '

sorry if its terrible haha but if you think its decent get the word out.

{Ed002's Note - It is more a case of the rest of us not knowing what the hell you are talking about.}

05 Nov 2017 22:36:27
What the hell are you talking about.

05 Nov 2017 23:24:48
dont know about get the word out think we need to get the men in white coats out 😁.

06 Nov 2017 03:15:11
I have no idea about this song, but I think you might struggle to get many Liverpool fans to utter the words "we love Nathaniel clyne" lol.

06 Nov 2017 07:47:35
We'd better singing about Patsy Cline!

Hi eds ........

{Ed002's Note - This is not a gossip site - try nationalenquirer. Lots of young men meet young girls and later find they have little visitors still. It is no big deal. There are folks in Barcelona who have sprays and razors who can treat those issues. This is a transfer web site, ask us about that and get over this herpes fetish you seem to have.}

05 Nov 2017 23:31:56
A little Rash ed?

{Ed002's Note - I am not entirely sure what

06 Nov 2017 08:33:10
Hahaha eds2 I have a fetish but it has nothing to do with football😂
Wrong time of the month mate just a simple no would have done.

05 Nov 2017 18:58:05
Hi eds, with Ings scoring 4 today with the U23s is there a future for him in the first team? Seems like a player klopp could work with, high energy and really fast.

Thanks in advance!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Probably not at Liverpool - I think maybe a loan in Januaery and we will see what happens.}

05 Nov 2017 21:42:34
would love to see Ings get an opportunity with us. but probably needs to bide his time and repay his dues after so long on the sidelines. agreed that he has many qualities that seem like they would suit the way we play. he is often under-rated in terms of how skillful he is with the ball at his feet and his link-up play. Had we still been in the Caribeean coconut cup or whatever it's called, it may have been good to see him in Firmino's role.

06 Nov 2017 01:02:29
Should have been loaned out in the summer with solanke coming in and Sturridge being kept. Would have been good for him as well as us.

06 Nov 2017 10:09:47
Maybe a loan to Palace they need goals and he would get game time.

05 Nov 2017 18:36:50
For anyone interested our u23's beat Bristol 7-0 today. Ings scored 4 with the hat trick being completed inside the first 21 minutes. He also set up two more goals. Dhanda, Wilson and Masterson got the other 3goals.

The u18's beat West Ham 0-6 as well. Camacho got 2, McAuley got one, Jones got one, Millar got one, and Clayton got the other. Gerrard gave the kids a kicking at half time for only being 3-0 up!

With the first team winning 1-4, the lads have won 17-1 on aggregate across 3 games this weekend 😂.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2017 18:49:59
Would love to see Ingsy get some first team action.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe he will after January.}

06 Nov 2017 01:34:18
Nice to hear MK, thanks for sharing mate.

05 Nov 2017 16:27:38
Quickly approaching January window and we all expect Coutinho to leave, Can will more than likely sign a pre contract with a European team also. We have Keita arriving next summer and we are likely to move for Van Dijk again in January, but what are the likely options in midfield replacements?

Would Lemar be a target again this January? Would Max Meyer be seen as an option given his contract expires in the summer? Sanchez is another with his contract running down as well as Goretzka (spelling) . Given the availability of the above I doubt we are going to miss Coutinho too much. I'm more excited at who may arrive. Even though we are losing Can there are three quality players we could sign under same circumstances, and even a pre contract as early as January. We still seem to be linked with Brandt also which would be a great addition.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2017 16:44:01
Well we have Lallana to return and Henderson isn't getting a game plus Keita coming in and Grujic needing games.

I don't think we need any more midfielders, I think we need to focus on improving our weaknesses - defence.

{Ed001's Note - Henderson had a knock yesterday.}

05 Nov 2017 16:55:21
Forget Sanchez, good player but wouldn’t come even on huge wages.
If we can sign a pre-contract agreement with one of the players you mentioned that contacts are up - fine. But in January as far as players to sign and arrive in January a CB is a must, but if a midfielder is to be signed defensive midfielder is one that I’d pursue.

05 Nov 2017 19:02:30
If we do sell coutinho. The money has to be spent on a ready made world class player.
I'm hoping the defence is sorted out way before then.

05 Nov 2017 20:32:18
I think we will still try for Van Dijk to be honest. If he does sign I can’t see anymore centre backs arriving. I certainly don’t see a full back joining at all. On the right we have Clyne, Alexander-Arnold and Gomez, ont he left we have Robertson, Moreno and Milner if needed.

That’s why I expect a midfielder if Coutinho leaves which I think is best for all as long as the money is right. Lemar does look good and we seem to be willing to pay the fee. Sanchez would be ideal as a Coutinho replacement but unlikely.

On keepers Ed’s what’s the situation with Donnaruma of Milan? I know he signed a new deal but would he be willing to move?

{Ed002's Note - a premier league club were quoted £100m for Donnarumma at l15, he won’t be moving to Liverpool - other plans for him are taking shape.}

05 Nov 2017 20:33:36
Hi how Sanchez is and also cheap.

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page.}

05 Nov 2017 20:36:04
It would be outrageous for us to sell Phil in January and not bring in a replacement. Keita will replace Can, but someone has to come in for Phil. Full stop.

None of Lallana, Hendo, Grujic, can come close to filling his shoes.

05 Nov 2017 21:48:06
Sorry Ed my post was meant to read Sanchez is world class and cheap. In response to a Coutinho replacement already needs to be world class.

{Ed002's Note - So to be clear, “world class” (a term over used by Liverpool fans), “cheap” (is this “sluttish” cheap? I am not so sure he wears make up, nor what he would charge Klipperty for a good time), and “not moving to Liverpool”. I cannot comment on what folks perceive to be “world class”, but if you look at the players Liverpool are looking at potentially brining in, they are certainly decent soccer ball players. I suspect Sanchez has figured out where he would be looking to move to. Klopp has done well with attacking players and the club is already in good shape going forward, Coutinho or not. Go get advice and help, and fix the defence - that is the top four fix that the club are missing so much.}

05 Nov 2017 22:12:32
Very well said Ed002.

06 Nov 2017 01:18:03
Our front line is sorted with Firmino, Salah and Mane. and given Coutinho played left wing last season he’s already replaced by Salah effectively. Our backup options are Sturridge, Solanke, Ox, all of whom are very capable footballers and we have Ings, Woodburn, Wilson, Ojo behind them too. We clearly don’t need anyone else upfront.

In the midfield I expect with Can and Coutinho leaving our likely starting lineup will be Hendo, Keita and Lallana which is excellent, and we still have Gini who’s a strong option, Milner who’s solid, and Grujic and Woodburn coming through. I personally would like to see a strong defensive midfielder come in as we don’t have a natural in that position. We should be grooming Woodburn to take over Coutinho’s role IMO, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if we went for Lemar either.

As Ed said, there really is no urgent need to spend in midfield/ attack unless someone really special comes along. it’s all about the defence with CB and GK looking the most urgent need of strengthening right now given how Moreno’s performed and Gomez/ TAA coming along at RB.

06 Nov 2017 01:35:37
Max Meyer would be a good fit to sit infront of defense and link midfield.

Not sure it will happen though.

Cheers.

06 Nov 2017 06:31:02
Max Meyer a good fit to sit in front of the defense? The fella has never played holding midfield in his life. His best position is off the front man plus I feel we could grab someone better than Meyer if we were indeed looking into that area again.

06 Nov 2017 08:06:01
Sami, Meyer sitting in front of the defence? I stopped reading after that as I am starting to wonder if you even know who he is or have actually watched him play. Be that as it may, Meyer is not the answer and will take another 3 years to get to Cou's level of even the last two seasons. I Personally don't see who is out there who can replace Cou like for like except of course, Klopp changes the way we play by putting Salah in the no. 10 role behind Bobbie and getting say, a Brandt (who I doubt would come) to play out wide with Ox and Mane.

06 Nov 2017 09:29:02
Leon Goretzka is class Ron! Your whole impression on Sideways passing midfiled would be put into shame if we land him. You haven’t see him play I guess mate! He is like a silk with the ball.

06 Nov 2017 09:41:33
Are you replying to my post WCD?

What's my impression on "sideways passing midfield"?

Bit confused, I haven't seen a lot of him.

06 Nov 2017 20:25:46
I saw a recent game between Scalke and anothet team with a female refree. I did ask the ed about that.

point being wantes to check out Leon G and he did decent but Meyer was the one playing holding midfield role taht day and he caught my eye.

Note sure if it was a one off game.

Cheers.

05 Nov 2017 16:26:24
Defo think Coutinho should have been sold and think he will be in Jan. Do we need a replacement tho? With Keita coming in, the form of Salah, Lallana to return I think we have great options. Would like to see a striker and a defensive midfielder to replace Can but all of the Coutinho money should go on a new keeper and 2 defenders.

Coutinho takes too many touches and other players pass him the ball too much, it stifles the quick play which has given us success in certain games. He shoots from everywhere even we there is a player right in front of him certain to block. As good as he is I believe it's for the best if he leaves.

Not going to get carried away after 3 wins in a week as we have played 3 poor teams. It's after the international break when we need to push on and win a run of PL games. Hopefully by Christmas we will be in a good position. YNWA.

05 Nov 2017 16:45:42
give karius and ward a chance first, might surprise us.

05 Nov 2017 20:04:21
I don't see the logic in not giving Karius or ward a run. We have known for a long time, since before Klopp arrived that Migs is suspect at best. At least it will give us an answer on how good the other two are, I honestly can't see either of them being worse. Your thoughts ed's.

05 Nov 2017 22:20:24
agree re:coutinho. love him and his skills, but to be honest I really think that the other players take more ownership and responsibility in the attacking third when he isn't there. lots of standing around watching him trying to get a shot off his right foot.

such a hard one tho cos he has all the potential to have an impact on us the way that de bruyne and city do for city and hazard for chelsea etc. but the value is so high and there are other areas that need desperate addressing that it just seems to make sense to take opportunity now.

05 Nov 2017 15:58:56
My gut feel is Citeh jaggernaut will grind to halt during the Christmas period. The lower teams will do the chasing pack a big favour. Injury fatigue and physicality of bpl will start biting pep in arse.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

05 Nov 2017 16:17:00
I agree, been thinking the same for a while now mate, they won't carry on this run all season I really can't see it.

05 Nov 2017 16:51:10
The way they are playing at the minute they could be 15 points clear before they have a blip. They have a good squad, i think you are hoping more than expecting if im honest.

05 Nov 2017 18:01:06
It’s theirs to lose basically, the squad is so strong we may not see that big a blip to be honest.

05 Nov 2017 19:03:58
The league is over. They're a cut above the rest mate.

05 Nov 2017 22:13:34
It's not over till it's over.

05 Nov 2017 22:21:49
I think the rhetoric is based on red-misted hope in the same way it was when people were predicting that we'd steamroll spurs.
they'll have a blip at some point no doubt, but the lead they are building at the moment will require something pretty special in order for another club to become a true challenger for that top spot. fully theirs to lose, and fully deserved by them.

06 Nov 2017 00:25:05
Analysing the 2nd half of citeh arsenal match, you can see the midfielders not tracking back as much in 2nd half as they tire. We will see more problems near Christmas. tgey were lucky with 3rd offside goal. They are not very comfortable with physical approach. And if either of their creative axis of KDB or Silva break down, they cannot support the same style of play. What we need is 2 combative midfielder to shut KVD and one to fight with Fernandinho.

06 Nov 2017 06:07:15
Well that will sort them for 1 game.

06 Nov 2017 08:59:15
Its annoying because city were struggling before they hammered us.
Just shows, one good win installed confidence in their squad.

05 Nov 2017 15:45:43
Eds, any update on the Can contract situation?
Also, do you see us moving for another keeper in January as well as CB?
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - (a) Can wants to eave(b) No.}

05 Nov 2017 13:44:19
I'm so disappointed to keep re-reading the same old posts about Mignolet. Yesterday he was fine but we still get these deconstructions of his performance. For the goal he was blameless and as for the Ayew incident he did his job, he made himself big and forced Ayew to miss, I don't see how he gets criticism for that. There were a couple of incidents with his ball control but nothing actually came from either, this is an area he's actually demonstrated himself to be pretty strong in the last couple of seasons.

Migs had gotten a lot of undeserved criticism recently and I include the spurs game in that. In that game it wasn't his fault we lost but he was made the scapegoat.

We all know there are better keepers than Migs out there but he's ours and he deserves our support. He's been a decent servant to Liverpool, he was keeper when we almost won the league the years ago, he was our keeper in two cup finals last year. It's not his fault he's not as good as DDG or Courtois, he just tries his best and he has my thanks for that.

Believable7 Unbelievable25

05 Nov 2017 14:13:45
The frustration is a result of constant errors. He has not improved since we purchased him and he offers little in goal. I would prefer to give one of our two young keepers a chance to make those same errors in the hopes that st least they can get better.

05 Nov 2017 14:23:59
Dismissing errors because "nothing came from them" is a red herring. It doesn't cease being a mistake if you're not punished for it.

As I said below in the reply to Scarry Houser's post, we wouldn't be talking about Migs' mistakes against West Ham much if they were an isolated incident. But they're not. He's making mistakes in more matches than not. If he stops making mistakes, people will stop obsessing over his performances.

05 Nov 2017 14:48:12
They weren't clean play but they weren't mistakes either. It's this constant striving to find something to criticize that I find so irritating, you start the match having decided that's he's going to do badly and then look for an incident to justify your pre conceived opinion. For any other goalie that was at least a 6 out of 10 performance but because it's Migs he's eviscerated.

05 Nov 2017 15:17:54
I don't want Mignolet in the Liverpool goal longterm. I hope Klopp gives the gloves to Ward or Marius soon. But I have to admit, some of the criticism Migs gets is uncalled for. The only mistake I can think of him making yesterday was when he unnecessarily gave away the ball near the corner flag and his goal kicks mostly never finds any of our teammates.

05 Nov 2017 15:20:07
Every man and his dog is an expert these days Putney Red. That is the issue! Personally i tend not to read or comment on posters or Ed's reviews on players because its just one opinion albeit written a lot better with nice paragraphs but its still only one opinion.

We need a new keeper. In fact you could argue we need 2 if Ward or Karius don't step up or Klopp doesn't rate them highly enough but i agree, giving Mignolet dogs abuse and pointing out every error certainly won't help. He is Klopp's No1 in the League so get used to it. If it goes tits up don't blame Mignolet, blame Klopp. Mignolet can only do the best he can.

05 Nov 2017 15:23:47
Agree - he’s not my pick but he doesn’t deserve getting panned every week even if he does OK.

05 Nov 2017 15:34:06
Totally agree with this, I think everyone can agree that he is not good enough but I’m really not sure what he could have done about West Ham’s goal yesterday. It was a decent finish that Lanzini took early and put right in the corner, constantly criticizing someone just for the sake of it is pathetic.

05 Nov 2017 16:41:46
I'm never shy of giving Mignolet criticism but he didn't have a bad game ( for him) yesterday.

05 Nov 2017 22:31:51
Putney,
I agree with your post that Migs is getting undeserved flack vs WH as he did nothing wrong on the WH goal. But to say that he has been getting undeserved criticism of late, is complete tosh. Are you actually trying to somehow absorb him of blame vs Spurs? If anyone was scapegoated for thtat loss, it was Lovren. It was not Lovren who came stupidly storming out of goal to get to a ball that Harry Kane already had at his feet for the first goal. It was not Lovren who came out and completely flapped at a cross that the defenders were about to clear leading to Kane's second goal and Spurs' goal.

It was all Migs, the very same one who almost cost us the LC game with two errors and giving away a penalty that Vardy shot right at him. The same guy who has led the PL in errors that lead to goals since 2013. Stop defending the indefensible, bro. The guy is pants and the reason he is still playing is cos (per Ed01), Klopp does not wanna bring Karius back in and the disgraceful set of fans who got on his back for making two mistakes last season, do the very same thing again if he makes one now.

05 Nov 2017 13:29:46
Good result yesterday sala is class if we can get a good cb in January we mite be able to push for 4th spot but mingolet really worries me we definitely should be giving ward a chance or karius as mingolet is really bad I belive he worries the defence so suspect in everyway and then klopp gives him the armband was amazed at that edds do you think we will look to bring anyone in in January. Regarding courtinho do we miss him I'm not so sure rumours around he's gowing to be fit for brazil again funny that.

05 Nov 2017 15:00:07
"we mite be able to push for 4th spot"

? If we improve our defence we will be pushing for the title, don't worry about 4th spot.

05 Nov 2017 16:01:44
City will win the league by more than 10pts this year. Second down is up for grabs.

05 Nov 2017 23:39:24

05 Nov 2017 19:51:32
Nice one Ed01! Great read on a great player 🖒.

05 Nov 2017 11:21:01
Hi Eds, i've just read a Guardian interview with Howard Wilkinson about the football academy system and another article about Huddersfield Town considering closing their academy and it all looks like a complicated mess to me and I wonder if you might be able to shine some light on it with an article if you ever get a free moment.
Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have been trying to put together an article on this for over a year now, but it is very difficult to do as the academy system is implemented so differently in each club. The system itself is struggling with a lack of meaningful games, which is holding it back from any kind of success. The FA should never have shut Lilleshall really.}

05 Nov 2017 13:30:47
Things seen to be going well at the moment though, we're having unprecedented success at youth level.

05 Nov 2017 14:27:02
The FA are awash with dosh, that makes it even more senseless to rubbish their talent development school. Heaven forbid England might accidentally win a WC or Euro because they are never going to win anything with the bunch of clowns the FA have at the helm. Watch them screw up the talent they have in the youth.

05 Nov 2017 11:05:38
I am not the type to see a game tactically like Ed001 i just don't have that ability, But even i could tell you mignolets performance was laughable yesterday.

Early in the 1st half ayew broke down the right chasing the ball and mignolet could and should have come out and won that ball but instead he looked terrified like he was praying he wasn't quick enough to challenge ayew, So he let ayew win the ball hoping he would kick it at him or miss (which he did) .

Late in the second half lanzini had a chance to make it 3-2 with an identicle move to the chance he scored but shot it over luckily for mignolet as he was too busy falling backwards making himself as small as possible.

And lanzini's goal he should have dealt with by either coming off his line quicker when he realised lanzini was winning that ball or at least try and make a save. Remember when we was kids and we used to play that game stand like a tree and don't move? that reminds me of mignolets goalkeeper tbh.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

05 Nov 2017 11:11:29
Nothing like stating the obvious. We all want him dropped, it isn;t happening but for now, no complaints here, we won so that's good enough for me.

05 Nov 2017 11:13:35
I have given up talking about Mignolet, no matter what he does in goal he will keep getting picked it seems. I suspect he has some pictures of Klopp! Hehe.

05 Nov 2017 11:17:01
I'm not making an excuse, but I really feel like that goal harry kane scored against him where migs probably should have stayed in the goal is playing on his mind a bit. and tbh it would for loads of people. he seems hesitant in those situations. on the plus side I seen him charge out and claim a free kick around the edge of the box for the first time in years.

05 Nov 2017 11:24:51
To be fair to him, I don't think he was at fault for Lanzini's goal. Other than though, agree with your post.

As well as what you've said, he needlessly dallied on the ball and got caught on it later in the first half, and after an admittedly poor backpass from Klavan in the second half, he seemed to be stuck in treacle trying to get to it and only just beat Lanzini to it when it looked to me like he should've gotten there comfortably.

None of these things ultimately cost us and we wouldn't be talking about them except this sort of stuff is going on all the time with Mignolet. His poor positioning against Burnley, that joke of a penalty he conceded against Leicester, the dropped cross against Spurs, the number of 1v1s where he's sold himself easily, and so on. And he's not making any good saves to offset it.

I remain thoroughly baffled by Klopp's thinking on the goalkeeping situation.

05 Nov 2017 12:10:27
The fact these conversations have been going on for 4 years on Migs says it all. He isn’t a title winning keeper. Not even close. I hate saying get rid of players cos I think they can always improve or adapt. This dude takes 1 step forward and two steps back every year.

05 Nov 2017 12:33:55
Can't believe we still have such long threads talking about Mignolet and his erroneous ways on the pitch. Its been 4 years people, so no matter how many times we say it, Migs has had some mystical influence over Brendan and Klopp to get picked game after game.

05 Nov 2017 12:35:01
Think the op is being hard on poor old migs, is he good enough for us no. He does enough wrong during games for us to to point the finger at, so we don't need to point at him when does the right thing.

He in my opinion done nothing wrong for there goal, no keeper in the world would have had the time to get off his line to put pressure on lanzini it all happens so fast.
But let's say he was on his way out as the the ball came to lanzini and lanzini spotted migs off his line all he'd simply do is head the ball back across goal with migs would be caught in no man's land, what would then be said about him?

As for the lanzini attempt where he missed the goal. Again if migs came out (which I think would have been a mental decision) and he past the ball to someone who had a open goal to aim at what would be the opinion on here?

As for ayews attempt, I agree with you.

Just my opinion.

05 Nov 2017 15:42:05
It’s ridiculous to blame Mignolet for West Ham’s goal yesterday. He was probably expecting Gomez to head the ball rather than duck away from it, after that it was a fine finish from Lanzini who took it early and put it right in the corner. I’m not quite sure what else you expect him to do. We all know Mignolet isn’t good enough but criticizing him for that goal yesterday is just criticizing someone for the sake of it.

05 Nov 2017 22:37:24
OP, I dislike Migs more than the next guy BUT you seem to be reaching with your criticisms of him as he was not at fault for the goal. Give it a rest, lad. We won and that's all I care about. As for Klopp continuously picking him, Ed01 has spoken on that issue. I propose people read the posts and Ed01's response on this issue.

{Ed002's Note - The real point is that he is the first pick at Liverpool and having to contend with Manchester City, Chelsea, Burley, Spurs, West Brom and the Liverpool supporting vegetable matter who seem to want to do little more than hold the side back.}

Mignolet
Captain. Leader. Legend.

sap with the disagrees? the guy is obviously joking, just like Klopp is trolling with giving Mignolet the armband ;)

05 Nov 2017 08:55:10
Reading that firminio is angry at not scoring not as angry as me I had mo first scorer and lfc to win 5-1 @120/ 1 doh.

Brilliant read Ed01! Thanks for this.

Do you see Klopp changing completely to this style going forward? I get tge impression over the last three games watching the team tgey appear to have moved towards thatcset up and positioning.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Jon. I think it is a case of horses for courses, though he does like the back 3/4 switch he is using a lot.}

05 Nov 2017 09:09:37
Great review Ed, perfect summary IMO

I suspect the press may return when we have all of Hendo/ Gini/ Lallana back as I think they’re the key with their energy and mobility, but am very pleased to see Klopp adapting the system so effectively to the players he has around him. Trying to press without both Lallana and Hendo fit might well have been asking for trouble.

Last three games have been very professional.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

05 Nov 2017 09:22:05
As always, spot on mate.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

05 Nov 2017 09:22:50
Mignolet needs to be dropped. Ed001, do you think karius and ward are good enough for our long term solution? If not, who do you think we should take a look?

{Ed001's Note - how do we know until they are given a run of games over a long period?}

05 Nov 2017 09:53:33
Far betger than my review, that's for certain, nice one ed001.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much Jeme.}

05 Nov 2017 10:08:53
Great review Ed001! A very well balanced display after a long time.

Though I did feet that the team struggled in the first 15 mins or so, but that was probably due to a shift in the team formation and organisation. Do you think we will carry on with the same formation in the next three games?

{Ed001's Note - thank you. I think Klopp will swap between it and a normal back 4 for the rest of the season.}

05 Nov 2017 10:16:51
Great review ed the bit on Gini made me laugh. Btw Bobby was saying that couts should be fit for the Brazil matches coming up well I never!

{Ed001's Note - thank you and yes I did think he might be somehow.}

05 Nov 2017 10:39:19
Sooner we see the back of Couts the better, never thought I'd say that either. He's causing disruption we don't need. I hope he's gone in January, suddenly fit for Brazil, bit funny that isn't it?

05 Nov 2017 11:02:23
Great review. To be fair to Matip I did notice Carroll go up against him once for a header and Carol was left in a heap on the floor. However I do agree he needs to be more vocal.

05 Nov 2017 11:12:27
When there is a match this is one of the highlights for me. Straight to the point and no bull. Well done Ed01 another great analysis.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much.}

05 Nov 2017 11:14:17
CORLEONE.
couldn't agree with you more i wouldn't let him wear a Liverpool shirt again and if he turns out for Brazil he should be ashamed its L. F. C who pay his wages he's gone all the wrong way about his move he's like a spoilt child only my opinion.

05 Nov 2017 11:14:54
Great read ed, as always! I think you alluded to this earlier this season when you say the team might work on a 2 sitting in mid with coutinho playing ahead. Was this the same yesterday (bobby/ salah dropping off) and do you see salah taking ox’s place and couts playing off bobby moving forward?

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect Coutinho to play for us again, he certainly doesn't want to. The one that is likely to come in is Lallana.}

05 Nov 2017 11:50:10
Surely Ed's not playing will compromise his place in the Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup? The words " cutting of his nose to spite his face " spring to mind.

{Ed002's Note - it won’t make any difference.}

05 Nov 2017 13:03:50
I do believe the term karma springs to mind, when you think of the way vvd acted at the saints after we tapped him up. Also didn't keita cause a bit of trouble to get his move. People who live in glass houses and all that. I haven't wanted coutinho in the squad all season after what he has been up too but then again we are no angels.

05 Nov 2017 14:00:40
Blimey. You don't expect Couts to play for us again ed and were only in November? So we keep him for the season and don't play him, doesn't make any sense mate?

{Ed001's Note - I expect him gone in January.}

05 Nov 2017 15:01:23
Owe right ok mate. I thought he would be here until the Summer as January is not usually a good time to be selling or indeed trying to replace him.

{Ed001's Note - when a player is unsettled and disrupting the team you just get rid.}

05 Nov 2017 15:15:38
I agree and looking at the way we've played last few games we are not struggling without him. You could argue that we don't need to replace him with the options we've got.

05 Nov 2017 19:49:36
Do you think we'd chase a replacement in Jan top Ed1? Maybe someone like Lemar?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

05 Nov 2017 07:37:57
I am extremely happy with the away 3 points. I was particularly impressed by how our midfield closed WH down. They made WH's attacking seem ordinary. Imo that should be our starting midfield every game.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

05 Nov 2017 07:59:52
Again we proved we can play very well without Coutinho. Also I would be happy to see Lanzini in a Red shirt, Ed01 what do you think?

{Ed001's Note - he is ok but he is not exactly a team player on that performance.}

05 Nov 2017 08:24:26
Don’t rate him very highly to be honest.

05 Nov 2017 12:14:16
When he kicked the ball away was very mature!

05 Nov 2017 13:58:06
liverpool play better without henderson.

05 Nov 2017 19:52:30
It's not necessarily that we play better without Henderson but we don't tend to play well with Can and Henderson on the pitch together.

05 Nov 2017 05:45:01
Haven't posted for a while but maybe, just maybe we have turned the corner now.

The two batterings we had vs City and Spurs is what is making our GD look a bit skewed. That is 9 goals conceded in two games.

Saying that, Mignolet is the weakest link in the starting eleven. Klopp obviously has his reasons for how he is using the GK's but it still boggles the mind that Mignolet is starting matches for us.

Salah has been an absolute revelation. People are looking at how many chances he gets but the only thing that matters is he has 12 goals for us in 17 competitive matches.

We conceded another silly goal yesterday. Gomez should have done better but then you look at the ball going past Mignolet and you feel like smashing in the tele.

Good to have Mane back too. The combination of pace from Salah and Mane is one if the most deadliest weapons. Opposition defences going to suffer.

05 Nov 2017 06:36:01
Definite foul on Gomez for their goal. Cheeky shoulder in his back. X.

05 Nov 2017 08:28:23
Max, that was a good finish by Lanzini cos he had to strike the ball over a 6ft 4inch Migs with precision and while being on the stretch. I don't think Migs should be blamed for that even tho one can argue that he should not have gone to ground and should have made himself big like he did on Lanzini's second chance which went over BUT that is just too much nitpicking for me. Gomez should have done better bUT he's a kid and will learn. The good thing is that his more experienced team mates bailed him out with a quick 3rd goal and 4th goal to kill the game. Up Da Pool!

05 Nov 2017 13:55:34
Lanzini is quality! I would take him from west ham! He is a proper playmaker and would excel under Klopp!
Emre Can what a player! Shame he will be a legend at Juventus! I can’t beluve Klopp isn’t convinced by him! He is the best CM at the club. Light years better than Hendo. Not sure why he mean by he doesn’t track back!

Lol he has to hold his position I don’t give a toss if he doesn’t run around like a donkey on the pitch. There is no player who could knock the ball off from Can and isn’t he the only midfielder who has the balls to put in a tackle when needed!
Klopp must suck his thump and drop Migs for good! Not sure who is he pleasing by playing Mignolet he has to hebtge dumbest keeper on the planet!

05 Nov 2017 23:01:05
Harry, Lanzini is average at best. He is not a patch on Cou. He is lazy, does not work hard enough out of possession and downs tools when things get tough overall. How would he thrive under Klopp with the afore-mentioned "qualities" that Klopp actually hates in a player. He would not even make our first 11 ahead of Salah, Mane, Lallana, and dare I say, the Ox. There are far better players than him around.

05 Nov 2017 05:13:11
A few thoughts from the game

- Wow. Salah just keeps getting better and better, he complements Firmino and Mane brilliantly and make so many chances it's ridiculous
- Firmino was also excellent, bar the one miss when through on the keeper. His touch and control was top notch, particularly for OX's goal and he harried them non-stop. not to be underestimate what we brought to this match
- Can and Gini looked very much in control of midfield, no fuss or frills, but despite a brief 10mins where WH came back we never looked like conceding control. I like this 2 together sitting deep
- Moreno looks to have had a brain transplant, looks to improving all the time and having a storming season so far. well done for officially turning it around young man
- I really like the new look semi back 3 we have been playing in recent games. We look well in control in defence, and Klavans weakness against pace isn't as exposed and Matip looks a lot more confident with Gomez on the cover
- Gomez I thought was having a stormer until Lanzini's goal and then they started to double team him and he looked rattled for a while. At least he played through it and came back to look solid in the end. good learning experience for the lad
- Still not convinced by Migs, but at least he came for that one cross with confidence

Overall our ability to look solid at the back and still score goals the last 3 games is a big step forward vs. what we were doing against lower sides last year. The balance of the team looks decent and with that front 3 we always look like we're going to make chances. Tottenham still hurts but we are right back in it.

Up the newfound stable at the back, Salah inspired 3+ goals a game reds. long may it continue!

Great read, SG. Ma I also add that Klopp played a blinder tactically as contrary to many others, I think Klopp played Salah in the no. 10 role behind Firmino with Mane and Ox on the wings. This is where WH had the most probs as the could not pick him up cos we played a midfield 3 and they played a midfield two in Obiang and Noble. Salah was popping up all over the pitch like a phantom and they had no answer for him. Klopp may have found a way of playing if Cou does leave in Jan with Salah in the 10 role. We shall see.

07 Nov 2017 15:54:29
Thanks Loris - was a really interesting one and agree he was almost playing like a second striker or false 10 at times. and very effective there too. What a player he’s turning out to be! I think any one of Mane, Firmino or Salah are capable of playing striker, a bit like a slightly cheaper version of having Neymar, Suarez and Messi ;)

I don't know why BUT I simply love the guy and his attitude to life in general. He can play till he's 40 and will still have my respect and total admiration. Great player and a true gentleman off the pitch. You're a role model, Crouchy and you will always be welcome at Anfield.

05 Nov 2017 09:50:11
He’s one player I would’ve liked to have kept as an impact from the subs bench
