We need a new cb. Lovren now has injury issues and Matip is not the long term solution. Why not go in big for de ligt that would give us the option of a back three ie Gomez Del ligt Vvd with trent and Robbo as wing backs. It seems senseless to wait just 4 months when we know we will need to buy for next season. Btw De ligt would be my choice but if we can't get him someone of that quality. It also gives the likes of Hoever time to learn. He will only be 21 in 5 years.

Acered

{Ed002's Note - De Ligt will not be moving to Liverpool and I doubt they have the money available to buy him.}

1.) 12 Jan 2019 19:41:47
This defence is the best defence in the premier league for years and years for any team and you think we need to make changes?

2.) 12 Jan 2019 20:05:12
We’ve got 1 first team RB and today had 1 fully fit CB Mikey. Gomez and Matip are both yet to go a season uninjured for LFC and Lovren is a liability.

Yes we are keeping lots of clean sheets, but we very clearly need some new blood too.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 20:07:41
We already have a world class defender in Van Dijk and a potential world class defender in Gomez, why would we spend a fortune on a player to sit on the bench?

4.) 12 Jan 2019 20:10:12
1) We don't play a back 3

2) When Gomez is fit, he has to play. As does VVD (obviously)

3) De Ligt won't sign for anyone to sit on the bench

4) I don't see what the commotion is about De Ligt. He's looked rather ordinary when I've seen him. But I have to admit, he can't be a full international and Ajax captain at 19 without merit. I just haven't witnessed it myself.

5) See 1, 2 and 3.

5.) 12 Jan 2019 20:18:23
We have money if needs be and we have players who can be sold so I would not worry about money if klopp needs it I think he will get backed no matter what van dijk and Allison prove that.

6.) 12 Jan 2019 20:29:30
I think he more means about how injury prone the other 3,are bar vvd! It’s frustrating how soft and fragile they are I have to agree although play gomez with vvd when fit.

7.) 12 Jan 2019 20:34:58
Totally Jay.

8.) 12 Jan 2019 22:14:40
We have the best 2 center backs in the prem in VVD and Gomez why go out and get another, the back ups are Ok in Matip and Lovren, don't panic.

All will be good in a few weeks.

9.) 12 Jan 2019 23:33:03
So, buy like 100 CBs in case they all get injured?

10.) 12 Jan 2019 23:37:32
Play a back 3 when we have about 75% possession in most games? God give me strength, good night and well done for getting the tough 3 points on offer today.

11.) 12 Jan 2019 23:55:58
We need a backup which will remain fit but it isn’t going to be a top cb like de legit.

Hopefully some of the younger players can make that step up next year. Maybe Phillips or Hoever. Maybe both.

12.) 13 Jan 2019 01:54:42
Haha man can some of ya hear yourselves!? So basically we need someone who is good enough, fit enough, has wolverine powers of recovery and will be happy sitting on the bench.

13.) 13 Jan 2019 02:36:27
Who's to say if we were to buy another CB that he'd be fit all season anyway? All teams have certain areas of the pitch that have injuries to more than 1 player at a time. It happens. None of them are long term and the only times we have moved to a back 3 with klopp is in the dying stages of games to try and hang on to a win. Gomez's broken leg was an unlucky impact injury and not muscular, vvd hasn't made it through a full season with us yet either (touch wood he does) . We are not city who can buy world class players to sit on the bench and find a convoluted way of offsetting it to escape ffp. And we have the best defense in the league and still had a clean sheet with a midfielder playing there. We are in good shape.

14.) 13 Jan 2019 03:11:29
Gomez, lovren and matip both have injury concerns. We only have one fit and top cb.

15.) 13 Jan 2019 08:19:20
Van Dijk isn’t bullet proof like some are making out, his injury record at Saints wasn’t great.

16.) 13 Jan 2019 13:31:05
Angus - these are the challenges of a season. An injury crisis would have been juat one fit CB for the rest of the season. Then ok, maybe u look at a solution then.

17.) 13 Jan 2019 14:18:59
Personally, I think we should take a punt on Lloyd Kelly, he’s a really good English prospect and can play left back or centre back very comfortably. He is very rarely found wanting and dominates players much older than himself.

18.) 14 Jan 2019 06:26:54
I agree FMS. I'd put a bid in for Lloyd Kelly. If we get him then ship out Moreno since he has "many offers" and apparently wants to leave for more football, which is fair.

Kelly has this VVD calmness/ cool domeanor to him and is very skillful. Could almost fill in as a winger in an old school 4-4-2. Not that we'd need but he looks like a very versatile and mature young player. I'd take him for the right price!

21 Nov 2018 18:48:11
Probably a question for ed1. Warlock has always waxed lyrical about clyne since his days at palace and there are whispers that Cardiff would be looking to take him in the January TW. How would they fund that type of transfer?

Acered

{Ed001's Note - they have a decent amount of money and Clyne would not be that expensive as we could do with getting his wages off the books.}

1.) 21 Nov 2018 19:10:12
Thanks Ed1 Do you think it will happen?

{Ed001's Note - I certainly expect him to leave and his options are limited, so it seems the most likely move for him right now.}

2.) 22 Nov 2018 09:25:03
Thought Leicester were also interested in Clyne right? And i hope we get a sale than another loan for every Tom, Dick and Harry in our squad that has no future at the club. Hopefully a BPL side with a 12-15 million pound bid comes in and takes Clyne off our hands.

3.) 22 Nov 2018 13:24:08
He's hardly played for about a year and a half, if we're hoping to get any money for him, it won't be much. The saving is in his wages, and giving him a chance to continue his career.

Acered

{Ed025's Note - OK

2.) 01 Jan 2018 11:43:35

Eds any truth in sacko going to stoke?

Acered

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine please.}

1.) 20 Jul 2017 22:18:06
Fair comment.

2.) 22 Jul 2017 12:47:00
And if the search engine doesn't work, try searching for Sakho instead xD
Makes me mad to see 'fans' still get our players names wrong 😒.

01 Jun 2017 21:17:10
The saga with RS from Fulham I'm totally ok with if he decided to choose spurs instead of us then good luck to him anything else? s need to be asked!

Acered

1.) 01 Jun 2017 21:24:46
We only offered him the chance of under 23 football next season and some cup runs, Spurs have told him he will be competing for a first team spot.

Cheers

Macca.

2.) 01 Jun 2017 21:41:01
That the real macca? Glad your back if this is the real macca!

3.) 01 Jun 2017 21:43:32
Welcome back macca.

4.) 01 Jun 2017 21:43:34
The big man is back is it true ed?

{Ed025's Note - seems that way belfast..

5.) 01 Jun 2017 21:45:28
so yet again we screwed up .

6.) 01 Jun 2017 21:46:51
Any word on clynes future macca and the right back position.? Lacking serious quaility in both wing back positions. Robertson will just add to the problems.

7.) 01 Jun 2017 21:47:41
Also 17 year old lad either staying in London or uprooting, you know it makes sense for him to stay.

8.) 01 Jun 2017 21:48:31
Yep that's the real Macca.

9.) 01 Jun 2017 21:48:32
Macca,

So good to see you posting again mate.

Anything you can add to the transfer news?

All the best.

10.) 01 Jun 2017 22:15:31
Thanks for your reply Macca hope your keeping well and business is good.

11.) 02 Jun 2017 09:38:54
Finally, Liverpool actually tell a player their plan honestly. Good news for the future, better players join us knowing where they stand and are happy and comfortable with it then lying to everyone about being our first choice superstars and having them moaning on the bench all season.

Not sure we will sign anyone in this window with the news the ox will be back by Feb.

Acered

1.) 23 Dec 2018 01:00:41
Where have you heard/ read that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be back by February? I thought he would be back at the earliest towards the end of the season (if so I expect nothing more than a cameo role in the last game or two) . He still has a lot of hard work in front of him before he will be match fit. I hope your right I just don't see it personally.

2.) 23 Dec 2018 01:28:52
Is it true? it will be really good to see him again! hopefully he can the necessary 10 apps if possible for the medal? if we win ofcourse.

3.) 23 Dec 2018 02:35:36
we are well covered.

Alisson/ Mignolet
A. Arnold/ Clyne
Robertson/ Moreno
VanDijk/ Matip
Lovren/ Gomez
Henderson/ Fabinho
Milner/ Keita
Wijanlum/ Chamberlain
Salah/ Shaqiri
Mane/ Lallana
Firmino/ Sturridge/ Origi/ Solanke.

4.) 23 Dec 2018 05:39:32
Vak how can you say we’re well covered with Mignolet, Moreno and Clyne?

5.) 23 Dec 2018 06:33:04
Exactly stoneage. Having quantity and quality are two different things VakPa. Those 3 players are either not good enough or unwanted by Klopp. If TAA, Alisson or Robbo were to get injured for a considerable period, we are f****d. That will be like handing Man City an additional 10 point booster pack with all the comedy goals we would concede every game.

6.) 23 Dec 2018 06:59:37
Hopefully all 3 of them can be repacked this summer Stoneage, none have ever been good enough sadly. That could be all our business in the summer though, unless Milner/ Lallana/ Sturridge we’re to leave, in which case we would need to add more depth to the midfield/ attack to keep 2 options in each position.

7.) 23 Dec 2018 07:40:34
Acered, Ox ain't coming back till next season and that was announced during preseason already.

Vak, we are INDEED well covered and we don't need anyone right now, IMO. Our injured players will be back in Jan. Klopp was asked about if Lallana is needed or something and he said, "I need all of them". So per Klopp, we are covered. Also in terms of team dynamic, we have a good squad of lads who want to be here and contribute their part to a title challenge and team dynamic and harmony is very essential right now. You having a dig (IMO) by saying we are not covered with Origi, Clyne and Moreno, is not only unhelpful but is NOT true as the facts disagree.

Origi has contributed by scoring the winning goal vs Everton that kick-started this run we are in. Moreno has been helpful when coming on of late and Clyne was solid vs Utd after not playing a single game since May. A signing right now would be nothing but an unnecessary splurge, IMO.

8.) 23 Dec 2018 11:58:49
Unless players are leaving then there is no sense in over stocking. Ya risk unsettling the chemiatry innthe squad too if ya going to add pieces and not move othere on.

9.) 23 Dec 2018 13:48:11
My sentiments exactly, Faithworks (LOVE your username, btw) .

05 Dec 2018 08:37:42
I am not saying that Bobby Duncan is the second coming but things about his game don't half remind me of Fowler.

Acered

1.) 05 Dec 2018 08:46:20
He scored 4 on Saturday didn't he? I haven't seen him play but going on his goals/ assists things are going well for him. Fingers crossed for the lad.

2.) 05 Dec 2018 12:25:57
i terms of the way they move and the type of goals scored, i thought Kristian Nemeth might have become the next Fowler. didn't see enough of him to know how good he really was but the resemblance in body shape was uncannot.

3.) 05 Dec 2018 13:18:57
Bobby duncan? u wait bobby firmino will score that much against manu this year! watch this speace😍😜😜.

24 Oct 2018 22:00:59
Fabi looking the part tonight.

Acered

{Ed025's Note - even a broken clock is right twice a day ace.. :)

1.) 24 Oct 2018 22:05:00
Oh come on Ed025, his second start and it was clear how much he was growing in confidence, a beast in the tackle and comfortable withthe ball, was thoroughly impressed.

{Ed025's Note - impressive yes AW, against a side who would struggle in league 1 though mate...get back to me when he does it against a decent team..

2.) 24 Oct 2018 22:37:16
I’m a strong believer of ‘you can only best what's in front of you’, red star are certainly not the best team in the competition but its the Champions League and complacency is punished, as were against Napoli and as Napoli were against Red Star. Red Star came for a physical battle, committed 20 fouls with little more than a telling off from the referee, and yet Fabinho had their entire midfield in his pocket. He may have had more time on the ball to pick out good passes, but defensively its hard to neglect how good he was.

3.) 24 Oct 2018 22:13:48
I have a feeling we will be getting back to you soon Ed, he looked good in the tackle and picked a few nice passes tonight. One of our better players overall.

{Ed025's Note - i could have done a similar job to him tonight den..they are without doubt the worst team to have ever entered a european competition..

4.) 24 Oct 2018 23:10:41
Ed025 he did it twice against Manchester City when Monaco knocked them out of the champions league, two fantastic performances that stick out in my mind.

Either way you can only play who's in front of you, he did well tonight and I look forwards to him getting more mins.

{Ed025's Note - 2 good games in a career is hardly pulling up trees eamon, lets see how he does against the bigger boys before we start heaping praise on him mate..

5.) 24 Oct 2018 23:26:25
I wasn’t in my usual seat tonight, behind the goal, I had to sit in the main stand, four rows from the back! Gives you a totally different perspective of the game.

Yes Red Star were poor but they pressed us apocryphal night, we just sliced through the press with bags of energy.

The two main reasons we were allowed to do so was Fabhino and Gini. Fabinho grew into the game with every kick, breaking down every attack.

Yes they are not a great team but you still have to do a job and he did that tonight, allowing the likes of Shaqiri, Mané, Salah and bobby to do what they do best.

We looked a lot shaper all over the pitch tonight.

{Ed025's Note - the reason you were allowed to do so drogie...is that they are an absolute bag of crap mate..

6.) 24 Oct 2018 23:46:40
Huddersfield are and were just as poor the other night and we equalled their shabby play to the extent it could have ended in a draw.

Tonight we played an equally poor team but we were much better, no sloppy passing and we made sure all the scone balls were won, unlike Saturday.

We were no where near our ruthless best tonight but it was better mate.

7.) 24 Oct 2018 23:49:04
I thought Maribor were the worst team ever in a European competition, or was it Porto? Or Spartak Moscow? Basically anyone Liverpool have beaten easily right?

8.) 24 Oct 2018 23:54:09
haha I was just responding to "get back to me when he does it against a decent team" and thought the premier league champions were a good choice as he put in particularly good performances. He's done well against plenty of "bigger boys", PSG, Dortmund (though admittedly not in both legs), Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympique Lyon. He's done well since moving into the midfield and has great physicality and an eye for a pass, I like him a lot.

Ed025 he may well fail, better players have when moving clubs. But I'm really not sure what you're basing your opinion. It doesn't seem like you watch much Ligue 1 or Monaco Fc in general. Scelticism for the sake of scelticism.

{Ed025's Note - i watched quite a bit of him at monaco eamon which is why i was surprised liverpool bought him, some people must see something i dont mate..

9.) 25 Oct 2018 00:19:11
Ed25 you said Red Star are the worst team to ever enter a European competition. Didn't you watch Everton last season?

{Ed025's Note - love it razor, but we would batter them as well mate as would crewe i suspect..

10.) 25 Oct 2018 03:22:41
Poor they might be but they’d still beat Everton. But then Everton have never been in the Champions League so they’ve gone one better than you lot anyway.
Just admit you were wrong Ed. I know you hope Fabinho is a lemon but tonight should tell you he’s anything but.

{Ed025's Note - i dont hope fabinho is a lemon bobby...im sure of it!, we would have been in the champions league in the 80,s when we were for me the best team in europe when we won the league mate, unfortunately we were not allowed to enter the competition due to a ban on english sides.....thanks for that..

11.) 25 Oct 2018 06:19:25
Ed025, surely the worst team to ever enter a European competition was the Everton team which was knocked out of first the 2005/ 06 Champions League then the UEFA Cup before the end of September. They were an embarrassment to the city and the country.

{Ed025's Note - that was a referee called collina wirral who knocked us out mate and has since admitted he was wrong, when we were the best in europe in the mid to late 80,s we were not allowed to enter the european cup my friend because of a team that were a disgrace to the city and the country....people who live in glass houses and all that..

12.) 25 Oct 2018 06:38:26
Red Star reminded me of Everton in last seasons Europa league .

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that squizza..

13.) 25 Oct 2018 06:38:55
Ed025 is some of the best banter on here, but he sounds like a true bitter bluenose talking about Fabinho. Give the man a chance before we throw around words like ‘lemon’. He looked absolutely on it last night.

{Ed025's Note - its just an opinion lowel, im far from bitter mate but i know a good player when i see one...and a poor one..

14.) 25 Oct 2018 07:07:50
Wow, Ed025, I expect great banter and humour from you but some true Blue bitterness seeping out there. You alright mate?

{Ed025's Note - im fine thanks wirral, but i cant just let people trash my club and call them a disgrace to the city without some defensive recoil mate, all is fair in love and war they say..

15.) 25 Oct 2018 09:12:10
The funny thing is that utter tripe we faced yesterday (the worst team to ever be in European competition as Ed said) are still a club that have won a European cup.

{Ed001's Note - you have to remember, he doesn't get to see a lot of European football and clearly must have had his tongue firmly in cheek when he said that. After all, they were good enough to hold Napoli to a draw in the opening group match.}

16.) 25 Oct 2018 11:24:25
He played well. He has been written off the way many klopp signings are as they're slowly integrated into this talented squad. People said the ox would struggle in cm, said Robbie was a stop gap, no better than moreno but they are 2 of our better players. I thought he was excellent. Gini had a solid game too but shaqiri for motm.
The front three looked brilliant, back to their best.

17.) 25 Oct 2018 11:29:55
Red star ain't that bad. Like klopp said it is ridiculous to think any game in the champions league proper are walk overs. They had to qualify.

18.) 25 Oct 2018 11:31:31
Is ED25 Duncan Castles behind the screen?

19.) 25 Oct 2018 08:46:56
Ed025, I actually referred to the Everton team of 2005/ 06 as an “embarrassment” not a “disgrace”. I am surprised, and a little disappointed, with your vitriolic response. I thought this site was for banter not bile. Chill
out a bit mate.

{Ed025's Note - it was not meant as vitriol wirral and i apologize if it came across that way...we all have our off days mate..

20.) 25 Oct 2018 18:36:33
Ed025, you have just done what a big man does. No hard feelings and looking forward to future banter and mutual p*** taking.

{Ed025's Note - that works for me mate..cheers..

06 Oct 2018 18:20:48
Well done to Bobby D today, gets the winning goal against man city under 18s. Any chance we can start a save Jose campaign?

Acered

27 Aug 2018 09:27:36
Trents pass across one side of the park to the other on the volley on the outside of his boot was worth the entrance money alone. Would love to see him in front of the back line in the next 18 months. Replace him at right back with Bissaka.

1.) 27 Aug 2018 09:45:49
The boys got skillz!

2.) 27 Aug 2018 09:55:14
Brighton Game - We were poor, yet another organised team who set up a brick wall and we had no answer! Still
relying heavily on the front three. That midfield is not going to score goals. I can bet the whole Europe on it.

The new way of justifying a poor performance - Grinding out results 😂😂😂.

3.) 27 Aug 2018 10:10:00
Whatever the perception is, perception, the reality is we got the 3 points. The title winners will drop points, whoever does it less will win.

4.) 27 Aug 2018 10:17:45
perception what are you on about? we had an answer- we scored a goal and the defence ensure we kept a clean sheet. chelsea were poor many times under conte but got the win in the same way. man und under ferguson had countless games like that. even city got results against the likes of palace and southampton. I've never seen a title winning team that hasn't had performances like that.

5.) 27 Aug 2018 10:23:04
Perception

Aint to many teams about that aren't managed by tony pulis that don't rely on their frontline to score goals.

A 4-3-3 will naturally give the lions share of the chances to the front 3.

Chelsea struggled against newcastles brick wall yesterday like most teams previously struggled against moaninho's brick wall over the years. Its pretty hard to shoot through a brick wall. Early goals and sometimes even a second is what it takes to open the game up.

Even when liverpool went 1 nil up brighton remained discipled throughout right up to the end of the game. But in no way did liverpool grind out a result. Massively in control the whole game and but for a better pass or a slight bit of better composure it would have been 2-0 forcing brighton to come out and take a few more risks. When that happens it goes to 3 or 4 nil.

Im honestly a bit miffed how people are complaining about 3 wins out of 3 and three clean sheets.

6.) 27 Aug 2018 11:58:40
I think we need to give Brighton some credit too. They played well stayed focused even at one nil down. We hit the post a couple of times too i think.

The sharpness will come in the players after 7-8. Some of them had a long world cup and short preseason.

Once everyone is on the same level we will be a better attacking unit, although I am happy with 1 nil every week.

7.) 27 Aug 2018 12:02:46
At least we got the 3 points, re-wind the clock and we would have got a draw or lost by a goal.

8.) 27 Aug 2018 12:10:10
Perception your perception is pointless. What gives you the right to think we are going to just smash teams to pieces? Show some respect to a well organised team who made us work for the points.
Ps WE WON!

9.) 27 Aug 2018 15:38:19
Hi Harry, I’ve missed you! ‘Perception’ - now THAT is 😂😂😂😂.

10.) 27 Aug 2018 16:17:49
Yeah. It's Harry allright. 😵.

11.) 27 Aug 2018 17:01:33
Haha, what a warm welcome back Harry! As per usual I don't agree with most of what you say there, but hey, it's nice to have you back!

12.) 27 Aug 2018 20:47:50
And there he is, the Great Perception or Harry. Tell me, are you ever wrong? We could have been 3 up at half time BUT we did not take our chances so there goes your idea that we were poor. Secondly, we did not play our best in the send half BUT got the 3 points BUT you are still moaning even tho, you keep saying that "winning while not playing your best is the sign of champions or a very good team". So which is it? Mind you, had we put 5 past them, you would say, "Meh, let's see what happens when we play the big boys" or something contrarian. So in essence, all you do is just be a contrarian for literally no reason. Must be boring being your type of "supporter".

Hoever and Philips to young, Lovren injury prone Matip not good enough so it leaves us taking our best holding midfielder playing centre back and yes fab done really well but this is Brighton we are talking about. This site is about opinions and banter and Not abuse so while us posters may not always agree with each other we have to respect other points of view as well as having our own. At the end of the day we all want Liverpool fc to be successful.
