I am so tired to hear of our defense is the problem why we are where we are on the log. Yes they need improvement on that front but they are not that piss poor either. In my opinion we would have struggled even if we had vvd. We need to better our defensive midfield area because most of the goals in open play came from defensive midfielders being nowhere. Look how Matic have changed Manutds defense. Its a totally different team now. The defenders don't have to play under pressure all the time and have time to read the game and watch the opponents and cover their back line better. If we had a really good defensive midfielder our back line would be so much better and win these so called easy games that I keep on hearing about.

Riedwaan

{Ed001's Note - you must have missed last season without Matic, when United were excellent defensively. What Matic has changed is the attack, as he has given the rest of the team more freedom to attack.}

"and win these so called easy games that I keep on hearing about"

Is there such a thing as an easy game when it comes to the EPL, not sure what you have been hearing?

2.) 08 Oct 2017 07:28:48
The fact that people think there are or may be easy games in the PL, is the very reason why many fans on here react with OTT posts and act like spoilt brats whenever we don't win, as if the other teams don't have athletes on their sides and have no right to give us a game and take points off us. This is the scurge on the LFC fan base right now.

3.) 08 Oct 2017 08:29:08
True Bingo and max, there's certain games we SHOULD win, doesn't mean we will do though, every game in this league is a challenge.

4.) 09 Oct 2017 13:54:29
Bingo - I disagree. It's when we show how comparatively easy games are by absolutely ruining the opposition, barely letting them see the ball but still managing to concede and fail to take 3 points that people go crazy.

Usually when an opposition team show up ready and take points on their own merit, they get credit for it. It's when we demonstrate every aspect of our superiority and get nothing to show for it game after game that people get mad.

Is ot just me or wasnt klopp not really interested to win last night. The changes suggested he wasnt concerned aboutwinning. Blamed the defenders because fans are allready blaming them for everything. can't come out and say bot really interested in a small trophy can he?

trophy is a trophy and this cup was our only realistic chance of silverware. We will not win the Pl or Cl, so Fa cup is the only other hope left for us. another good reason to like this cup is because kids get a chance to play in them, now they won't play at all.

2.) 20 Sep 2017 14:13:28
Crazy horse, so your suggestion then is don't play the kids in the cup; Play the first choice players so that we can stay in the cup and give the kids a chance?

Just accept that we played a fair few young players, a couple of new players, a couple of players returning from injury, and then padded the rest of the team out with squad players. We were giving them a chance to stake a claim in the first team and aside from Ward and arguably Robertson they didn't do it. I did see enough from Gomez, Solanke and Woodburn to look forward to them progressing under Klopp though. I also thought Chamberlain looked okay at times in between playing terribly, but he was trying way too hard to impress; attempting things not natural to his normal game and over hitting passes, crosses and shots because he wasn't calm enough. It'll happen for him too though once he is comfortable in the side and Klopp has had a few months to get him back firing.

3.) 20 Sep 2017 14:39:56
I want tony pulis as manager or defensive coach at least we will think defence 1st, it seems it's impossible too fix problem.

4.) 20 Sep 2017 16:38:12
Hailstones, then forget about us scoring the amount of goals we do and the fluid football we play cos Pulis will have Mane and Salah playing as extra FB's like he has Mclean and Phillips doing.

As for the OP, you can't have it both ways. You say you want us to stay in the Cup and say we should have played our starters. Had we done that, won the game and our starters look jaded on Sat, you would be complaining as asking why Klopp did not field a diff. team. You say the kids should get a chance and when they do and they lose a game, you still complain. Make up your mind, mate.

5.) 20 Sep 2017 18:20:18
Was just a joke meet chill ya beans would like him as defensive coach.

6.) 20 Sep 2017 20:58:58
With you on the def. coach tip, Hail.

7.) 21 Sep 2017 10:56:28
Yeah, I always hate losing but I feel for the kids as this was obviously going to be their platform. Was a tough game to start with. Midfield like butter.

Super stoked about the midfield today. Think the ball will move quicker up to the front now.

Riedwaan

1.) 16 Sep 2017 14:49:49
Milner and can.

Both donkeys on the ball.

2.) 16 Sep 2017 15:12:32
What a ridiculous comment topbusiness. One of the most accurate ball players in the league and one of Europe's hottest midfield prospects!

3.) 16 Sep 2017 15:26:54
They seem to have clearer instructions than during the week. Can has been quite clearly designated to sit and protect in this game leaving Milner and Coutinho to link with the front.

4.) 16 Sep 2017 15:39:00
Sorry but can being a powerhouse doesn't make him a fast forward playing midfielder. Doesn't make him. a bad midfielder that he's slow on the ball.

Thank God the wimdow is closed now. Next game feel so far off. Hate these international breaks. Now to beat City and we can challenge for top spot before halfway break.

Riedwaan

1.) 01 Sep 2017 06:34:24
Agree! Having an international break at this point in the season is such a buzzkill. Watching england lumber to victory over Malta will be fun though? Won't it? .

2.) 01 Sep 2017 07:12:54
i think its more of a problem it came at such a crucial stage of our season, we will loose the momentum from arsenal rout, and these International games tire the players because of long travels.
if there weren't no break we would have killed city, now i think it will be a very close game.

3.) 01 Sep 2017 07:40:08
On the plus side at least Coutinho got some match practice and was able to work on his fitness.

4.) 01 Sep 2017 07:56:21
It killed our momentum really as we were on a high after winning 4 in a row scoring 11 goals and thrashing Hof and Arsenal scoring 8 goals. But City is a big game so we should not have an issue getting up for it.

Read a few places that VVD is on his wat to Liverpool. I beleive everything I read. Now you can imagine what transfer window was like.

1.) 31 Aug 2017 16:01:25
If it's from a guy called Graham Carey on Twitter who claims he works for the BBC or his friend Gareth Cambridge who claims to work for ESPN and are "updating" every few minutes, they're 100% fake. Clearly they have no lives/ jobs/ women to entertain them - pathetic really.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 16:11:55
I feel sorry for you. :D.

Have you guys ever asked why it was so easy to get through. I replayed that goal over and over again. We were playing high up and our defensive midfielder was nowhere to block that guys "sublime" pass. Everyone wants to just put the defenders down but never look to the DM he needs to cover when the wing backs push forward. He can't wander off and get in on the action. He must play his role.

Riedwaan

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't matter about that, if the defence are not reacting to the loss of the ball by getting closer and dropping off, then we are always going to lose silly goals. Yes the midfield should have been in and around him, but that does not excuse how bad the defenders did.}

All this video showed is what the other one said. Yes the chelsea goal was a worldie. But it confirmed all he can do is kick long balls. Show the clips where he takes the ball and beat an oponent. Not one I have seen. All footballers should be able to kick the ball which he does well. Is that all he has in his arsenal. For a midfielder? Are you guys serious. I think he is a fantastic person. Class he deffinately is not. I support him when he wears the red shirt but you can't convince me that he is the type. of player that can take a game by the scruff of the neck and change it. Or rally the troops to step up a gear.

He can't tackle either. When he do 8 out of 10 times its a free kick. He shy's away from tackles dutying others to take the tackle. I have never seen him beat any player going forward with the ball. I specifically watch him when he has it because I also want to see what most rate him on. I support him as a Liverpool player but don't think our defence will get any better with him in that position. Agree maybe further up he would do better but we have more talented players filling those spots.

I think that's a brilliant video. Most are just defending their opinion. I have saying that to a fellow Liverpool fan. We need someine better in that position since he came to Liverpool. He only loola good when the team is pressing hard not because of him though.

This is just my take on it. Our defense make silly errors but I wouldn't put all the blame on just them. The midfield in front of them has to share the blame opposition runs through them like a hot knife through butter. I have tried to watch Hendo as I am trying to find a reasin to like him in that position. He seems to run all over but to close the attackers down. Its like he shys away from going in to tackle. He only try to block them off if no one else is around. And when he do he so rash. I specifically tried to watch his defensive abilities and I am afraid that any player worth his salt runs circles around him. We really need a robust defensive midfielder. It would make our defence less vulnerable. Just my opinion.
