Any update on the goalkeeper front?
Seems to have gone quiet re. Liverpool save for Mignolet (hopefully) leaving.
Many thanks!

{Ed001's Note - nothing yet that I know of sorry.}

1.) 01 Jul 2018 21:37:15
Cheers anyway! Hope we look at Schmeichel - solid GK with bags of PL experience!

{Ed001's Note - solid? He is not a good keeper.}

2.) 01 Jul 2018 22:27:35
He’s not a bad goalkeeper in fairness. Not great either though.

3.) 01 Jul 2018 22:29:17
If you could pick a realistic target for the club to sign Ed001 who would it be? Personally if we are going to spend big I think it would have to be oblak. I have s feeling we will end up with Butland or keyler Navas.

4.) 01 Jul 2018 22:15:49
Same as some awful player scoring a worldy. He saves a penalty and now let's sign him lol.

5.) 01 Jul 2018 22:29:38
he punches at literally everything. If there is a slow roller coming at him, he'd find a way to punch at it instead of picking it up. I really want to like him, but he just isn't that good. Having said that, it seems to me that there is a HUGE decline in the quality of goalkeeping these days. It is really becoming a lost art in my opinion. It's really sad.

6.) 01 Jul 2018 22:43:25
Navas, Cillessen or Schmeichel would be a disaster. Surely around the whole of Europe we can do better than that?

7.) 01 Jul 2018 22:43:25
Navas, Cillessen or Schmeichel would be a disaster. Surely around the whole of Europe we can do better than that?

8.) 02 Jul 2018 09:22:11
It's not becoming a lost art stone its just changed, a keeper these days has to be as good with his feet as the rest of the outfield players, he has become that extra man at the back to play it out, distribution is so important as well in todays game, gone are the days of old school shot shoppers that just hoofed the ball into the opposition's half. It's a demanding position that needs concentration and leadership qualities that defenders can be confident in.

9.) 02 Jul 2018 10:42:50
Makes sense Jcw, thank you.

10.) 02 Jul 2018 13:32:37
Ed001 who do hope we sign to solve the goalkeeper problem? Do you reckon Karius could be given another chance?

{Ed001's Note - unless we get someone of the calibre of Alisson, it is not really worth spending the money on a keeper.}

11.) 02 Jul 2018 23:23:47
Agree with ed1. Take out CL final and was karious that bad last season.
Btw on the always punchung comment. It not a problem always punching, it where you punch it too. If in doubt on taking the ball a keeper should take the safer option and punch. Just not like pickford who punches back into the area .

Some reports gathering pace about the potential for Suso returning?

Personally I thought he looked like a prospect when he played for us and has, like Salah, seemingly progressed since his move to Italy. (Not suggesting anywhere near as much mind! )

Is he one of the players outside of "the four" that were mentioned, etc that you said Klopp was looking at?

If not, could you share the knowledge as to who? :)

All the best eds and reds.

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware, sadly, of any interest in bringing him back. Would love that to happen as I really liked him as a player.}

1.) 10 Jan 2018 12:42:22
Has Suso improved that much to be considered as PC's replacement?

2.) 10 Jan 2018 12:59:07
We should never of let that lad go. He was always so promising.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 13:02:54
Suso has been doing well at AC Milan but its hard to tell what his actual level is because they are all over the place and have Borini staring most games for them f. eks! But i think he has improved enough to be a hit.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 13:03:47
Yup he's become one of the finest playmakers in Seria A and is now in the Spain squad.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 13:54:50
Just watched a highlight reel on youtube, forgot how talented he is.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 15:28:14
When Coutinho was injured 2-3 years ago and we were starved of creativity I thought then it was a great shame Suso never got his shot and we stuck with Allen instead. Would be funny if we bought him back to do exactly that. Agree I like him as a player, not Coutinho’s level but has something about him.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 17:27:57
Unfortunately the reports seem to be from the Express and the Star (which first reported it in Nov 17), so not entirely credible.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 17:57:50
I watched him play against Norwich, everyone was chanting his name at the end of the game, I was so pissed off when he was sold.

9.) 10 Jan 2018 19:24:18
With Sturridge apparently linked with AC Milan how about a FIFA 18 transfer, player plus cash deal Studge + cash for Suso.

10.) 10 Jan 2018 21:53:50
He should have been push to first team instead of sterling. he actually wanted to play for us. one of the many things that buck cocked up on.

11.) 11 Jan 2018 13:11:15
Considering how often it has been brought up on here could the reports just be this sure being regurgitated as fact?

06 Jan 2018 17:39:18
Eds, thanks for all the hard work in the window. long way to go.
First, is it still the case we hold no interest in Sanchez?
And second, do you expect and other outs apart from Pipco?

{Ed001's Note - no interest in Sanchez, who is also not interested in us. There should be a couple of other outs, Markovic, Grujic, Can are all potential movers.}

1.) 06 Jan 2018 17:53:16
Ed, would Grujic be on loan or permanent?

{Ed001's Note - either is possible right now. He and his family are unhappy with the way he is being handled.}

2.) 06 Jan 2018 17:59:28
Why ed do they think he's world class? Delusions of grandeur by sounds of it.

{Ed001's Note - they were made promises of playing time to get him to sign, those have not been fulfilled. They have every right to be unhappy.}

3.) 06 Jan 2018 18:54:57
He looked the part in pre season.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 19:17:45
I knew that was coming about his family his dad kicked up a stink before he came, I think he deserved a chance he like one of the other keepers need a run too see how good he is.

5.) 06 Jan 2018 19:56:24
He has had more than his fair share of injuries though.

26 Dec 2017 11:36:25
Eds, Merry Christmas to you all - hope you manage to relax before the January madness!

Any truth behind the Hirving Lozano rumours? I'll be honest, never seen the lad play but a big fuss is being made. What are you thoughts on him?

All the best!

{Ed025's Note - i dont know much about him myself and have not heard anything linking him to the reds mate..

1.) 26 Dec 2017 13:11:02
Another winger? Exactly what we need atm.

2.) 26 Dec 2017 14:05:29
I believe the Merseyside link is to the blues and not ourselves.

3.) 27 Dec 2017 08:35:29
Us and arsenal linked with him, he's a left sided player scoring and assisting for fun at PSV but so did Altidor and Bony. It might make sense if he his being looked at as a more reasonably priced player to replace coutinho but won't be cheap for an unproven player.

08 Aug 2017 07:54:44

Thanks for all the hard work as always. Just wondering whether you know if Liverpool have shown interest in Lanzini or whether he is a player we might turn to if Coutinho goes?

By no means a replacement but a tidy player of a similar ilk especially looking at his stats.

{Ed001's Note - not that I have heard of, though West Ham fans seem to be in a flap about that happening.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 09:05:25
Isn't this what we always do, sell a top player and replace them with a very poor underwhelming alternative?

2.) 08 Aug 2017 09:31:38
He would be an okay replacement imo. I think he would kick on surrounded by better players and he's still only young.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 09:34:20
Tim Vickery was massively bigging up Lanzini the other day. Said if he's given a chance at a bigger club he is more than capable of stepping up. I've not really seen the lad play that much so I'll reserve judgement.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 09:43:33
I'm inclined to agree with Frankly, I don't think there is anyone out there that could replace Coutinho like for like (unless we're buying a youngster with potential), if we do sell him I hope its for straight cash so we can see what we can do, it'll be an absolute shame if he leaves because it's clear he's at the centre of everything we do and the team is being built around him. My worry is that we either won't replace him or that we'll replace him but need to rework the system to do so. Maybe if we went back in for Keita with possibly more money to offer up front that could finally tempt RBL to sell?

5.) 08 Aug 2017 09:45:03
Give it a rest Frankly. Fed up reading your continuous stream of negative posts, slating every player linked- irrespective of how tenuous that link may be. Quit the bitching and moaning for a while.

6.) 08 Aug 2017 10:02:47
I can only assume that you are happy with mediocrity A-Klopp-alypse Now?

7.) 08 Aug 2017 10:15:09
No one is forced to read anyone's posts on here. If it's not your cup of tea either ignore it or argue your points in a debate. After all isn't that what football is all about.

8.) 08 Aug 2017 10:20:16
No. Not at all. But saying that I'd still support the team even if they were non-league. I don't expect success. I hope for it. I hope every new signing ( even ones I don't personally rate) will prove to be a good fit and bring success to that club. I'm no football expert. What I don't do is constantly berate players even before they've signed.

9.) 08 Aug 2017 10:30:09
It's got nothing to do with being happy or not Frankly.
You comment on almost every single post with the same comment about how crap we are and how everyone linked with us is crap, if we lose Coutinho we'll be crap, blah blah blah.
It's tiresome and boring.
You should be ashamed to have your negative mind set and your username together.
Try supporting the team for a change. It's a game, not a life or death situation.

{Ed002's Note - I completely agree with you and I will be deleting many of the repetative posts from now on. As you say it is tiresome.}

10.) 08 Aug 2017 10:31:44
I would add that it isn't as if there isn't decent players out there, Insigne for example is a wonderfully gifted number ten, has the same qualities as Coutinho.

11.) 08 Aug 2017 10:15:09
No one is forced to read anyone's posts on here. If it's not your cup of tea either ignore it or argue your points in a debate. After all isn't that what football is all about.

12.) 08 Aug 2017 10:43:17
AKAN good points mate I agree.

13.) 08 Aug 2017 10:45:21
Well said A-Klopp

Frankly, everyone's opinions are valid but the constant negative stream is getting a little tiresome.

Clearly things haven't worked out well so far. but in reality we haven't seen much more than Salah, Robertson and Solanke coming in, Coutinho perhaps wanting to leave (which we've known for a while), so at worst we're neutral compared to the team we finished with last year and hopefully some new incomings being worked on as we speak.

Have a whinge then get on with supporting the team shall we?

14.) 08 Aug 2017 10:49:18
You're bang on frankly didn't we sign a relatively unknown in coutinho £8.5m who could now be going for £100m, I for one think we'd be ok without him . also in other news VVD hands in transfer request.

15.) 08 Aug 2017 11:03:54
Coutinho wasn't really an unknown though was he? Benitez tried to sign him at the time that Inter signed him as he was the next big thing coming out of Brazil and £8.5 was widely seen as daylight robbery when we got him.

16.) 08 Aug 2017 11:59:20
Lanzini is hardly an unknown either and is used to playing in the prem.

17.) 08 Aug 2017 14:32:07
Still not fit to clean Cou's locker, Cobra.

18.) 08 Aug 2017 16:07:08
Coutinho may not have been a complete unknown, but we got him for 8.5 cos no one else would take the 'risk', all transfers are hit and miss, but slagging them off before they even sign is a bit rich.

19.) 08 Aug 2017 16:29:05
West ham will slap massive price on him now!

19 Jun 2018 15:47:14
Have we shown any interest in Bernd Leno?
I know its looking likely that he will sign for Arsenal but he is one of the best in the Bundesliga and for £20million he would be an absolute bargain.
Same for Rui Patricio going to Wolves. have we missed a trick here eds and reds?

{Ed001's Note - no interest in either.}

1.) 19 Jun 2018 21:01:48
Leno has signed for Arsenal. Announced today in French media.

2.) 19 Jun 2018 22:12:25
In the games Iv seen Patricio I have liked what I have seen albeit not a huge amount. Not sure if he will be a freebie or not but I think he would be a good signing and an improvement on Karius.

03 May 2018 18:56:38
Great result for the reds last night.
2 players who stood out for me roma (apart from the keeper who we know is of interest) was Manolas and Naiangolan (I know he made a mistake for our first goal) .
Any interest that you're aware of from us eds?
All the best.

{Ed025's Note - not as far as i know bax mate..

1.) 03 May 2018 19:55:45
Id be looking at schick myself, he was their best player, el sharwari was good as well.

2.) 03 May 2018 20:05:23
El sharaawy good? ? He spent the whole match rolling around and whining at the ref.

I also think aside from the goal, Naingollan was none too impressive either. Mane just danced around him at will at every chance, and he gave the ball away so much.

Not to mention, he flat out gave up. That’s inexcusable.

3.) 03 May 2018 20:57:42
Schick for me was their best player, could become a great player in a few years.

{Ed025's Note - he was their best player....but it was a close shave.. :)

4.) 03 May 2018 21:12:34
Red 911 with you on that.

5.) 03 May 2018 21:16:24
Schick was excellent, great engine and great drive, skillful too and strong. Think he’d be excellent in PL.

6.) 03 May 2018 22:11:50
Schick was pretty good and will only get better. As for El-Sharrawy, he was poor and could not stay on his feet to save his love.

{Ed0333's Note - am I the only one who thought Djecko had a good game. He was a threat all game no?

7.) 03 May 2018 23:16:04
yep Ed, Djecko had a good game, he is a danger in every game, he would be worth buying, by any pemiership team .

{Ed0333's Note - I reckon he would be an excellent buy for a team like spurs.

8.) 04 May 2018 00:04:20
Yeah Dzeko was mvp for Roma he was everywhere winning headers, holding the ball and he scored 2 goals.

9.) 04 May 2018 00:31:05
I like dzeko, he looks a beast every time I see him play. Manolas looked like a pen waiting to happen. I'd take Allison and naingollan but naingollan only on a cheap.

{Ed0333's Note - cue the abuse but I didn’t see anything from Allison in the two legs to suggest he’s infinitely better than Karius. He did let in 7 goals in 180 minutes.

10.) 04 May 2018 00:54:22
He looks like he'll score every time he gets the ball ed, but we don't play with a target man.

11.) 04 May 2018 02:23:03
Dzeko was the only player that worried me over the two legs, just not a Liverpool style player. Manolas looked decent but don’t forget they conceded 7. I wouldn't take any of their players IMO apart from Allison.

12.) 04 May 2018 01:27:09
Dzeko was Roma's best player. Link-up play, coming deeper to influence midfield, and harassing Lovren and TAA all game all helped Roma win that game, along with his cool finish. Schick is the target for sure, but if you told me at the end of the summer window that we'd signed Dzeko for £30m, I wouldn't be upset.

13.) 04 May 2018 04:32:19
Except for a sweetly struck goal Nainggolan did little in that second leg. Except for one, nice pass over the top to Dzeko he did little in the first leg. Add to that he is a chronic smoker and likely to be finished as a top level professional soon and I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. As others have mentioned Schick was excellent and certainly looks to have some potential. Dzeko is undoubtedly a fine player too, Ed's shout of a move to Spurs is an excellent one (if they have the foresight to make it happen) .

14.) 04 May 2018 21:33:11
And honestly I"m trying to remember what else Schick did besides doing a decent Dolph lungdren impersonator?

31 Jan 2018 15:41:14

Should I just turn off deadline day coverage now to avoid further disappointment or is there any prospect of anything happening?

I think I know the answer but ever hopeful.

{Ed002's Note - I would keep it on until the last knockings.}

1.) 31 Jan 2018 15:52:06
Ed002, you tease!

Apparently we're activating the release clause of Kerem Demirbay next 😂.

{Ed002's Note - One English side came close to buying him earlier in the month.}

2.) 31 Jan 2018 15:59:04
I told you this back a few weeks/ months ago MK.

It went to the rumours page, told you we had a very good look at him, he's seen as low risk because his fee is quite low and he's not been first choice for some of the season at Hoffenheim.

Not saying we're 100% going to buy him in this window or the summer, but believe me, we are watching or have recently watched him very very closely with an idea to bring him in.

He's about 6 foot, technically sound and has a wicked set piece on him, so we'll see.

3.) 31 Jan 2018 16:00:29
So you're saying there is a chance 😉.

4.) 31 Jan 2018 16:05:48
Just to follow up quickly sorry, not sure if he has a release clause or any of that nonsense, but Liverpool scouts were definitely asked to take a look at him more in depth, it wasn't just our play off matches that were used to determine whether we should make moves or not to get him.

I can't see it happening myself personally as he seems to blow hot and cold, but he is young and supposedly wouldn't cost the Earth.

All second hand information, cannot verify if accurate, sorry, but this is a rumour site ha!

5.) 31 Jan 2018 16:15:50
"I'd say more like one out of a million. " :)

6.) 31 Jan 2018 16:03:38
Ed, why are there so many deals done on deadline day, is it desperation or lower priced players compared to a couple of weeks ago?

{Ed002's Note - It is generally posturing for a while and then the inevatability of it all. That os one of the reasons I cannot say about timings.}

7.) 31 Jan 2018 16:35:32
I've got my fingers crossed Kev 😉 we badly need midfield reinforcements!

Only other rumour which seems to have a degree of legitimacy is that we could sign 19 year old Kwang Song Han from Cagliari.

So Demirbay and Han are the players Daler1 is on about on the rumours page 😂.

8.) 31 Jan 2018 16:37:27
Don't think it would be Kerem Demirbay that Ed002 is teasing us with. Doesn't the window shut in Germany at 5pm? Might be wrong sure I saw that on SSN earlier.

{Ed001's Note - only applies to incomings.}

9.) 31 Jan 2018 16:43:59
See lads, none of the Eds have denied it! Demirbay is our new No.10 😂😂.

10.) 31 Jan 2018 16:40:55
Ah thanks for clearing that up Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

11.) 31 Jan 2018 16:55:07
I don't think he'd be the answer to our midfield issues in all honesty.

He's about 6 foot tall, but perhaps not physical enough for the PL, haven't seen enough of him to be certain on that though.
Either way, I'll trust the manager's opinion over mine.

The "Han" rumours, hmmm okay, I thought Bruce Lee killed him at the end of Enter the Dragon, but okay, sure, I can work with that :)

12.) 31 Jan 2018 17:03:11
Thanks for the reply Ed002. I just like seeing the Sky team wetting themselves when a deal happens, or like the Mahrez deal, when it doesn't!

27 Nov 2017 22:51:08

January is fast approaching. I know it is notoriously hard to sign decent players in the window but are we looking to strengthen positions other than CB?

VVD has been done to death but any prospects of Goretzka or another midfield given Can looks like he is going?

Any other info would be much appreciated as always.

{Ed002's Note - Try the Sharkopod.}

1.) 28 Nov 2017 23:34:51
Ed002, would it be possible to get a play list for your sharkopods? i love the song choice.

{Ed002's Note - You would need to hit me next week and I will figure it out - I am on the road this week.}

05 Nov 2017 15:45:43
Eds, any update on the Can contract situation?
Also, do you see us moving for another keeper in January as well as CB?

{Ed002's Note - (a) Can wants to eave(b) No.}

Always appreciate Macca's posts but hope this one is way off. We're deluded if we think he is an upgrade on what we have. Isn't this the keeper van gaal subbed for penalties a few years back and preferred Tim Krul!?
Feel like we have missed a trick with the likes of Rui Patricio going on a free to Wolves and we're paying £20+ million for a lad who has warmed the bench at Barcelona for 2 seasons.
Disappointing if true.

{Ed002's Note - Patricio wasn't free.}

Cheers anyway! Hope we look at Schmeichel - solid GK with bags of PL experience!

{Ed001's Note - solid? He is not a good keeper.}

De Gea made an absolute howler for the second goal against Sevilla last night - nobody mentions it. Ederson, nightmare game against us, still world class.
Klopp was right that there was an agenda against our keepers. I'm glad klopp has given him a run and a chance to prove himself, he's been brilliant since taking over in the sticks imo.

29 Jan 2018 21:31:50
I know he wasn't getting any game time but I can't help but think that he is the sort of player who, in games like Swansea and West Brom, could have made a difference. Yet another out and nothing seemingly coming in.
Eds, do you expect any incomings for Liverpool in the next 48 hours?
Give us some hope.
Thanks as always

{Ed001's Note - if he was fit he maybe could have made a difference but he couldn't stay fit, which is why he lost his place in the squad. Shame because he is an awesome player on those rare days he is fit, but it was happening less and less and it is best to get his huge wages gone.

Do you want the honest answer or some hope? ;-)

Said it for months - Mignolet is a liability and needs to go. Must be on cloud cookoo land if he thinks he has a chance of being Belgiums number 1.

Whether Karius is the answer is yet to be seen. Still adapting, young and yet to have a run. He was well respected in Germany before coming here I recall eds? Good luck to the lad.
