can't understand why Milner ain't getting a game he just seems to have been dumped. didn't klopp say in the summer it was like signing a new midfielder talking about Milner thought he was one of our best players last season baffles me how Moreno is playing every week and Milner and Robertson are keeping the bench warm.

redsteve222

1.) 15 Sep 2017 22:55:15
So you want to drop an in form Moreno for Milner? That is very strange to me!

2.) 15 Sep 2017 23:22:14
I'm not convinced he's in form. He's still good at bombing forward and still bad at defending. that's just Moreno being Moreno. He's no different.

3.) 16 Sep 2017 00:30:55
Milner shouldn't play left back again, have you already forgot about all the cutt backs and slowly the attacks down, Robertson needs game time.

4.) 16 Sep 2017 00:34:40
You honestly thought Milner wouldn't get "dumped" this season? We are overloaded in midfield and out wide so a squad player role was the best he could have hoped for this season. Don't be surprised if he leaves in January due to lack of game time. Jack of all trades but master of none is our James Milner.

{Ed001's Note - I think people forget how bad he was after his initial good start. He offered nothing going forward and was all over the place defensively as teams targeted him. He was an excellent stop gap emergency left back, but that is all.}

5.) 16 Sep 2017 01:50:42
Yes Harry, Milner is still streets ahead of "an in form Moreno"

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, go back and watch his games again, he was caught out of position, just like Moreno, but offered nothing going forward and lacked the pace to get back in. Ok Moreno makes rash tackles, but at least he is getting back to affect the play, Milner was just getting left stranded, even though he was not going forward as far or as much. I like Milner, he has a fantastic attitude and was a great emergency left back, but he should only ever play there again in a major injury crisis.}

6.) 16 Sep 2017 01:58:09
I think that's a bit unfair in Moreno. His attacking play has improved no end and whilst defensively he's not solid he is clearly making an effort to curb the rash diving in which has got him in trouble previously. He has has visibly started to learn about staying on his feet and goal side, and he knows that if he let's his current standards slip, Robertson comes straight into his place.

7.) 16 Sep 2017 04:26:12
We have Moreno, Robertson, TAA and Gomez who can play much better than Milner at full back. Please stop putting Milner's name into the hat. He is ok to play in cup games and for seeing out games, that's it.

8.) 16 Sep 2017 04:57:24
Too many people on this page play favourites, Moreno has been better than usual of late and Bette ThTs. Milner last year (no offence to Milner he did an admirable job! ) but lovren/ insert keeper here/ Moreno get the blame (sometimes rightly so) yet others have bad games and have excuses made, 'hendo', matip, even firmino at times get a free pass! Firmino isn't a striker but does well I creating space for mane and salah, so now mane is absent should we omit roberto for an out and out striker? Shall we kick out an averge Henderson? No because the fans like them?

9.) 16 Sep 2017 08:07:23
Hendo has been average at best this season but was quality last season and we really missed him when not playing. I think he has earnt a little grace.
Firmino is a great player and although not a natural striker he fits perfectly into our system especially now we have Salah, he gives 100% every game and doesn't get flack because he doesn't deserve it.
I agree with you regarding Matip, but I think the reasoning is that people tend to think it's Lovren bringing out the worst in him, to be fair it could be the other way round as Lovren has looked worse since being paired with Matip, as another poster said he seemed to be forming a decent partnership with Sakho.

10.) 16 Sep 2017 08:23:44
I don't really rate Moreno but he has been a little better, his link up play is starting to come through and did well for our first goal on Wednesday.

Maybe Andy Robertson will get a chance today against Burnley. Tricky game today chaps, Id like to Couthino start, him and Salah seemed to have an understanding in pre season so it'll be interesting to see how they link up today, should they both start.

11.) 16 Sep 2017 09:54:38
Robertson anyone?

12.) 16 Sep 2017 10:13:22
Agree, really want to see Robertson play more - mom on debut in a position we don't know who our best is. Milner agreed to play there for the season but it was known he doesn't want to play defence. Assume that's why he's not featured there. Love Moreno as shows he wants to Play for us when I watch him I'm always hoping he'll be good but again he's not got goal side and not stopped an important goal and also against hoffenheimn 2nd leg the goal from his side he could have easily defended if he was simply aware of who was around him - winning games is more important and he does not seem able to change that aspect of his game, so frustrating.

13.) 16 Sep 2017 10:43:20
I know Robbie hit the post with the penalty, but in match changing situations like that, it would have been great to have Milner on the pitch to step up,

Just a thought Ed.
Do you think Milner could play the holding midfield role?
He seems to have dicipline to avoid being pulled forward on attacks, and reads the game well,

{Ed001's Note - no, not for me.}

14.) 17 Sep 2017 06:06:52
On hindsight, what position did he play. and can we say he did an Ok Job. personally i prefer he plays even our next game ahead of our Captain.

15.) 17 Sep 2017 07:28:04
Milner offers more defensively and offensively than Moreno.

{Ed001's Note - no he does not, I really do not know what people were watching last season but he offered nothing.}

04 Aug 2017 23:55:34
hi ed do you think will move for the ox? after hearing the news on lallana. cheers.

redsteve222

{Ed025's Note - it seems possible to me steve..

1.) 05 Aug 2017 00:29:30
I hope not. Waste of money, terrible player.

2.) 05 Aug 2017 00:30:09
If Coutinho does go we should definitely sign Lanzini from West Ham - we have been linked to him in the past - very similar to Coutinho great dribbling at pace, good freekicks and can only get better at Liverpool where there's more quality.

3.) 05 Aug 2017 01:09:59
Lanzini? What are you smoking? That's like selling a Ferrari and buying a Yugo Zastava and expecting the same performance.

4.) 05 Aug 2017 02:11:56
I think lanzini would be a decent signing.

5.) 05 Aug 2017 03:40:54
Klopp won't sign a player just for 3 months though.

6.) 05 Aug 2017 08:27:39
Loads of cover. He is out for Aug and Sept. Can't just keep buying players Every time someone gets injured.

Was the same on her when make went to afcon.

7.) 05 Aug 2017 10:36:00
And what's the Ox going to do, keep them company in the treatment room?

8.) 05 Aug 2017 14:23:45
My thoughts exactly bbb
Hope couts stays but wish him well if he leaves agree we need a class striker who is not injury prone however attacking mid field is our strongest position in strength and depth i know mingnolet had a decent 2nd half of the season but he is still a worry to me but we support who ever wears the badge.

9.) 05 Aug 2017 21:46:22
There is no one out there that can replace Couts' influence on the pitch. Nobody. Not Gylfi, Lanzini, Meyer, Rakitic (an insult really as Ciots is twice the player any of these clowns will ever be, IMO) or whoever. He needs to be kept at all costs at least for one more season.

10.) 06 Aug 2017 11:01:12
Woluwe makes me laugh when people mention Rakitic as a suitable signing. He's not been a decent player for at least two years and is in serious decline.

11.) 06 Aug 2017 18:00:25
I am a massive coutinio fan but I honestly think he is over rated here. He scored 14 goals last season not 44. When he starts scoring the amount of goals that messi and Ronaldo do then you can validate the 130 million pound price tag that reds fans have put on him. He has the potential to be one of the very best players in the world but he isn't quite there yet. Again, he wasn't our best player last term, 30 million pound mane was imo. You can score an over head kick from a cross cut back from the byline and you can score a tap in from a keepers dropped save, they are still counted the same. My point is, coutinio is great to watch, amazing style of play but a goal is a goal and last season bournmouths king scored more goals than Phil did.

12.) 06 Aug 2017 22:31:10
Just read report of a 120 million offer. That will be hard to turn down. Hope we do though. Reports that it took just 45 minutes to turn down last offer worries me even though it is supposed to have the opposite effect. 45 minutes means there was some sort of discussion. "No, sorry" takes seconds. I like Phil though, and I don't think he wants to leave us in trouble. As much as I don't like to admit it, I think he is going to leave sooner or later. I think he will give us enough time to sort out replacements and generally get ready for life without him.

if United park any more buses at anfeild every time we play tem we'll have are own fleet 😁.

redsteve222

{Ed025's Note - i knew it would be like that when i saw blakey was the kit man steve..

1.) 14 Oct 2017 20:41:44
I'll have you one day Butler!

{Ed025's Note - how that jack got them lovely clippies is beyond me barry, he had a face like a smacked arse mate.. :)

2.) 14 Oct 2017 20:43:03
nice one ed god help if olive was the tea lady 😁.

{Ed025's Note - i think she may have put bromide in the liverpool fowards cuppa steve..

3.) 14 Oct 2017 20:59:48
Thought we would be battered today, did end up going and I don’t think we played too badly, though we didn’t create any real clear cut chances, but then neither did they and they’ve spent considerably more than us. Positives, a game that I thought we would get battered in played well, Gomes and Moreno were impressive, Salah is brilliant, Oxlade was energetic and tried to make things happen, kept a clean sheet against a team who were flying, negatives, didn’t create enough chances and should really win against a team that didn’t come to play.

4.) 14 Oct 2017 21:02:08
"Ed025's Note - how that jack got them lovely clippies is beyond me barry, he had a face like a smacked arse mate. :) "

And I reckon Reg Varney was in his mid 50s when they started filming On The Buses. I know he was 10 years older than Blakey ;)

{Ed025's Note - he was also the first person to use an ATM machine in this country reynard...im a mine of useless information mate..

5.) 14 Oct 2017 22:05:45
Dennis, good to know that fear did not engulf you today cos I was getting worried about you there for a second.

11 Oct 2017 16:24:27
I would leave wijnaldum benched on sat also play tta Robertson and solanke some of the crosses Robertson puts in are great and solanke is good in the air be another problem for united to think about instead of just trying to play through them just a thouht.

redsteve222

1.) 11 Oct 2017 17:20:20
Definitely Robertson to start IMO. I like Solanke coming off the bench.

2.) 11 Oct 2017 18:31:09
Solankee
Firmino
Coutinho Henderson Wijnadum Salah
Robertson Matip/ Lovren Joe Gomez
Migs.

3.) 11 Oct 2017 21:33:20
I would like Milner and Robertson in the fullbacks positions and play sturridge firmino salah in the front three.

4.) 11 Oct 2017 20:42:01
OP, so who do you play in CM if you bench Wiji (which I agree with)? definitely not Solanke nor Robbo surely?

5.) 12 Oct 2017 07:43:07
Pick a back 4 and play the same each week for a month. This constant change is a joke and doesn't help us develop an understanding as a defensive unit.

Don't care who plays. Just stop trying to please everyone!

6.) 13 Oct 2017 00:15:03
Is Gomes a centre half?

Is there a reason why he is not played there?

01 Oct 2017 21:07:10
is anyone else getting sick of hearing klopp say in every interview after a match in witch there's been defencsive errors WERE WORKING ON IT if they are i don't see much improvment. how mignolet and Moreno are still in the team is beyond me.

redsteve222

1.) 01 Oct 2017 21:25:42
Redsteve, your ire should go to the forwards who are hitting the ball with their shins in front of an open goal instead of moaning about the defence which bar the goal (I know, another individual error), did well today even tho, Newcastle did not really come out to play. We know where our defensive issues lie so no need preaching to the choir about it as we cannot sign anyone right now.

Our main issue is up front cos today AGAIN, they let us down as we should have scored 3 today without breaking a sweat as we all know we can't keep a clean sheet. right now.

2.) 01 Oct 2017 21:30:43
Thought moreno was good today. Would you rather klopp say they're not working on it?

3.) 01 Oct 2017 23:03:41
Moreno good! He was constantly out of position, gave the ball away on numerous occasions and flying into tackles giving frees away to Newcastle. Which gave them chances to whip it into our box and with our defence that's a recipe for disaster.

4.) 01 Oct 2017 23:18:44
gave the ball away on numerous occasions and flying into tackles giving frees away to Newcastle
=============================

I think you referring to Gomez not Moreno, watch the game again without the blinkered our kids are the best glasses on . It become so easy to blame Mingo, Moreno and Henderson . We conceded one silly goal but I think our defence was decent over all . we should be scoring more than one goal against this Newcastle team . that's one we dropped points.

5.) 02 Oct 2017 00:04:26
After 7 prem. games we have earned 12 points from a possible 21,

Scoring 13 goals but conceding 12.

Oh, and we were knocked out of the league cup to Leicester City.

And 2 draws in C L.

Will do better for sure.

6.) 02 Oct 2017 00:23:35
moreno gave away one foul. like actually, just one foul. this is what happens when you allow one stain to ruin how you see things. ok, he wasn't exactly roberto carlos and mancini rolled into one, but he was far from the worse player on the pitch.

7.) 02 Oct 2017 00:25:25
I remember when a bad start to the premier league meant at this point being stuck around 10th place, 5 or 6 points off from the top 4.

8.) 02 Oct 2017 07:22:46
Robertson must be seriously tossing it off in training because he is twice the player Moreno is and can't get picked. Come on Klopp, give the lad the same chance Moreno has had.

9.) 02 Oct 2017 08:17:18
Those blaming Moreno and Hendo should go watch the game again with their eyes open and get back to the rest of the world. Moreno played well and so did Hendo as he was the only one in midfield doing the job as Wiji AGAIN, went absent all game bar his shot that hit the post. Blaming Moreno or Hendo every time we don't win is becoming tedious and boring now so I suggest those doing that should change the record cos it is getting scratched, big time.

Ron, Klopp disagrees with you and so do I as Moreno is playing well right now (I know, the only way is up with him, right now) and he has played well of late. If Robbo wants to play, he has to unseat him, end of. This is the big leagues where you earn your kepp and Moreno has definitely earned his. If Robbo wanted to play every week, he should have gone to Burnley or stayed at Hull.

10.) 02 Oct 2017 09:54:02
Robertson did well enough to keep his place when he played,

Easily as good as Morwno.

11.) 02 Oct 2017 12:04:06
The evident problems were not fixed in the summer.
Teams will continue to exploit our poor defence.
Coutinho saw the light.

Masterclass from Rafa today on defending.

No comment on Klopp.

12.) 02 Oct 2017 12:55:51
What masterclass in defending, Yuri? Parking the bus and hoping for a break? Pls, he's late to the party cos Mou made a whole career out of doing that. Had our boys taken our chances, you would not be saying that. Rafa literally gave up and decided not to go toe to toe with Klopp cos he knew if he did like LC did, he would get a hammering and concede 3 goals. It was these same tactics that lost us the PL in '09 so Rafa is still the same negative tactics and has not changed and why no big cub will touch him again. He's at Newcastle for a reason. Klopp? He could get the Bayern job if he left us today if they were interested while we will be getting Big Sam. Happy with that?

13.) 03 Oct 2017 15:12:43
I know bingo. People say klopp should go because we have drawn a few games, but who could replace him? Wait until we sign VVD and Keita. You will all be saying "I'm glad we waited"

27 Sep 2017 23:18:44
let's hope the boys can get the points of rafas lot on Sunday and with city and Chelsea playing each other a chance to pull a couple of points back then there's the little matter of United after the international break with all these chances we create its only a matter of time befor someone gets a hiding wouldn't it be nice if it was United you never know. are we allowed to play 3 keepers against them 😂.

redsteve222

27 Sep 2017 13:46:11
can't see why WARD isn't given a few games see how he copes got nothing to loose didn't klopps closest friend David Wagner manage ward for a season surely klopp must of asked how he performed week in week out . only a thought.

redsteve222

1.) 27 Sep 2017 15:36:01
Everyone destroyed karius and his confidence after a few bad decisions in a 10 game run.

Why would he let them all (pundits as well - carra :@) destroy ward if he drops a ball. After 4 years of mignolet.

2.) 27 Sep 2017 17:22:24
Karius' confidence wouldn't have been "destroyed by everyone" if he wasn't making elementary mistakes which cost us games. It's simple really. He's a goal keeper, the most high profile position in a team; playing in the most high profile league for one of the most high profile teams in the world.
What was he expecting? His mistakes would go under the radar?

He was the wrong signing if he can't handle being that high profile.

3.) 27 Sep 2017 18:22:39
We don't know it was Karius who made the call. Also 23 is young for a keeper so it wasn't that much of a sign he can't cope. From what I've seen Ward is better than Karius and Mignolet at crosses at an age where still developing, so it really would make sense to get him playing.

4.) 27 Sep 2017 18:24:39
These lads get paid massive money to play a sport we all love. I'm sure fans being critical of mistakes doesn't effect them as it's part and parcel of the game. Especially when there's around 40 thousand opposition fans singing far more insulting songs about players every away game.

5.) 27 Sep 2017 18:41:27
I honestly don't think I can remember Karius make a decent save 🤔 Not one save.

6.) 27 Sep 2017 19:03:26
Why do people think being paid large sums of money removes all of the following:

Getting injured
Being tired
Suffering from illness including things like depression
Having family issues
Being a human with feelings and emotions

Plus it doesn't have to be a case of them being directly upset; if your other half, parents, children constantly see and hear people making derogatory and offensive comments about you, then no amount of money will change how much their upset will upset you.

Just because they get paid money we will never see to do a job we'd all love to have doesn't make them robots without feelings.

7.) 27 Sep 2017 21:03:14
Freshst, haven't you heard that making large sums of money playing football NO LONGER makes you human as if you are not allowed to feel the same human emotions and feel physical and mental pain and fatigue?

8.) 27 Sep 2017 21:24:48
Exactly Bingo, I despair sometimes.

9.) 27 Sep 2017 21:29:35
Ron, What happened to Karius was a complete disgrace from our own fans who took sides with a manc managerial failure and a Red sellout (Ed01's words, not mine) in targeting and bullying a young GK cos he had the gaul to speak for himself after being bullied. Cara telling him to "shut up and do his job" is bang out of order as well. Migs has been killing us for years BUT where was the outrage there? He made TWO mistakes in ten games and could have done better last night BUT even the best GK's concede soft goals sometime so he will learn. Migs made 5 mistakes in two games YET some are still making excuses for him. The hypocrisy is deafening.

Do you think if Ward came in, he would not make mistakes? You are aware that Ward like Karius, is very inexperienced at the top level as well? For me, him conceding a soft goal does not bother me at all cos how else will he learn? Same with Ward. Had he been in goal last night and he conceded the same goal in the same manner, I would not be bothered cos like Karius, how else will he learn and get better? So Karius gave up a soft goal. Big deal as clearly he is the first one to ever do that in history. He will learn and people should get over their phony outrage cos Karius did not cost us the 3 points last night. Our forward line's profligacy did.

10.) 27 Sep 2017 22:26:39
Pc brigade have turned up 🤦🏻‍♂.

11.) 27 Sep 2017 22:49:28
Bingo - what happened to Karius is a direct result of him making some pretty high profile mistakes. That's the gig. If you can't take criticism, you're not the man for the job. It really is that simple. Some may make excuses for Migs, but others give him dogs abuse - like I said, it comes with the territory. I agree Ward is inexperienced. Read my post and you will find that out. I would prefer we let Karius and Migs go (mutually beneficial for club and players) and buy in a ready made great goalkeeper. Not a young pup.

I don't get this bit Bingo:
"For me, him conceding a soft goal does not bother me at all cos how else will he learn"

So you want a keeper who has to concede soft goals before he learns? I'm sorry, LFC first team is not the place to learn how to stop conceding soft goals.
I don't blame Karius, I actually have sympathy for the lad because this will hurt his career the longer he stays. I blame Klopp/ whoever recruited him. He clearly was never up to the job. He should certainly not have been thrown into the first team before he sorted out his weaknesses.
