Thank you Benny.

2.) 20 Jun 2018 00:19:14
Great occasion, great game, awesome kits and the cameramen were at worst, brilliant! Hope you double your ambitions. Well done to All of you!

3.) 20 Jun 2018 08:48:53
mk scouser isn't a scouser? bizarre username.

4.) 20 Jun 2018 08:58:44
im sure you are not a bamboo.

5.) 20 Jun 2018 10:47:37
Pretty sure it is a reference to being an adopted scouser for having supported Liverpool probably most his life. Not that it matters.

6.) 20 Jun 2018 11:13:21
Nailed It, Adam.

7.) 20 Jun 2018 13:18:46
Is it too late to sign up for the next game?

8.) 20 Jun 2018 23:50:05
Also MK for Milton Keynes after moving a few years back if I remember correctly.

9.) 20 Jun 2018 10:47:37

Ed001/ 002. Clear your diaries for June 15th 2019 if you can? We will see if we can hold on to OUR cup.

Ps, highlights will be on YouTube tonight.

benny baller

{Ed001's Note - it was a fluke you got it!}

1.) 18 Jun 2018 16:38:38
Guys appologies for the drop out things still not sorted but life goes on.

Any chance of securing a stadium for the day and perhaps a tournament on there?

2.) 18 Jun 2018 17:12:22
Hi can we have highlights of the event?

3.) 18 Jun 2018 17:55:14
Stg Ken’s speech and captains hairdryer on Mahfuz were the absolute highlights of the day mate, closely followed by his swan lake dive on the edge of the box. He is the nicest Man Utd fan in the world mate, unless of course he has made good on his promise to burn the official Liverpool Mo Salah Egyptian King crown 👑 we gave him, in which case he’s a stereotypical manc after all 😵.

4.) 18 Jun 2018 20:26:01
what is the match called on YouTube? Ps well done around lads.

{Ed033's Note - Benny Baller hasn't uploaded it yet

8 months of prep comes down to this 😋
Firstly, I would like to thank the editors for their support and help in getting this set up.
Secondly, their are 3 spots left, so if you'd like to play the game, based in north Oxfordshire on the 16th, give me a text : call on 07719565417 for more details.
The opportunity to be in a 50/ 50 with MK Scouser is too good a chance to miss surely?
If you can't attend but want to watch the match, we have you covered, the game will be streamed live on the football-rumours Facebook page, so get following today guys.
Fingers crossed Ed002 is in the country and can attend 🤞🏼.

benny baller

{Ed002's Note - The kit is being shipped to you today Benny - I will be away from the UK at that poing but I can get back in I will.}

1.) 01 Jun 2018 10:58:05
Brilliant stuff, sorry I can't be there but will be watching. Have fun guys 😎.

2.) 01 Jun 2018 11:00:39
Best of luck with it all Benny and everyone involved, I would offer to play but my feet are like 20p's (my first touch really could go anywhere) to the point where my own team would be trying to leave one on me out of frustration! Plus i would be out of breath just putting the kit on.

3.) 01 Jun 2018 11:05:27
Brilliant. I’m slightly worried we are going to have 11 shirts with your face spread across the front.
I know it’s a slim chance of you being there, but if you did, as a thanks to everyone making the effort to play and travel, do you think we could have a live Q&A where each player gets to ask you one question after the game😇 obviously there will be ground rules, I. e no talk of work, no camera phones and obviously no #wonderdogsparkyout banners.
I’d assume with your schedule you’d have to shoot off after, but you don’t get if you don’t ask.

{Ed002's Note - As long as they are kept in cages. I will try.}

4.) 01 Jun 2018 11:27:43
Best of luck lads would love to be around for it.

What's the rumours Facebook page? Can never find it, although to be honest prefer looking at the site anyways but would like to see some of this match.

5.) 01 Jun 2018 15:47:14
This is so great. Really want to come but not certain on travel arrangements and getting there etc. Would love to play if I could.
With the Facebook page, does anyone have the link or exact wording for the page. When I search it, I get Liverpool FC latest/ transfer news but I am not sure if that is it and the other pages are out of date?

6.) 01 Jun 2018 15:52:43
I wish I could come and support you guys but my circumstances will not permit this time.
If I have a few quid spare I will try to donate a small sum.
I really hope I will be able to participate next year.
Me and Harry in the same team please.

7.) 01 Jun 2018 16:01:12

8.) 01 Jun 2018 17:01:38
Just realised I'm only an hour or so away but I will be in lanzerote when the games on, would have been a good craic. Hope you have a great day.

9.) 01 Jun 2018 18:11:32
Q.

Ed002: read the F. posts 😄.

10.) 01 Jun 2018 18:32:31
The link Benny showed for the Facebook link appears to be incorrect. I tried it as want to watch the game next week but says no link found.

11.) 01 Jun 2018 19:13:29
Thanks for the link. Worked fine search that in the search bar Walter and it’s the first. Benny baller right there so you know it’s theres.

With the match. I might try and make it but it will be super late notice. Don’t hold anything for me but I may be a late introduction :)

12.) 01 Jun 2018 19:54:19
Imagine that Ron 😂.

13.) 02 Jun 2018 08:16:32
The link is working now.

Gentlemen,

There are a few spots left for the Site Posters charity match next month.

As I want full squads and we are getting close to the date, the match fee will be whatever you are happy to donate to SEVA foundation and Macmillan Nurses.

Details are as follows:
16th June, 3pm KO
Wroxton Sports Club
Horley Road, Wroxton, Oxon OX15 6PY
There are cheap local hotels, and as some of the lads have already mentioned, plenty of beer joints!

I am in the process of adding all current participants to a whatsapp group. So I will put my back up phone number here, god forbid I put my usual number :)
07719565417
Whatsapp / text me asap, if you can attend and play.

The game will streamed live on the football rumours facebook page.

If any one reading this wants to donate to the above charities, there is a football rumours just giving donate page.

benny baller

{Ed002's Note - Benny, let me know what is needed from me.}

1.) 22 May 2018 14:55:23
This is brilliant and a great cause, really gutted I can't make it (my brother is home from foreign lands for first time in almost 3 years) .

To put faces to names on here would have been great (even those I don't agree with on much lol) - lads, I really hope you all have a great day at this!
Enjoy!

2.) 22 May 2018 15:38:21
I wanted to donate but I m too scared of privacy and details o my card etc I m no from UK is their any safe method of donations.

3.) 22 May 2018 15:41:03
This is such a great idea. I hope there will be some photos or videos of the match!

4.) 22 May 2018 16:02:51
Adam it will be live streamed on the football rumours Facebook mate.

5.) 22 May 2018 15:36:39
Why don’t you an your brother play Irish :)
Ed if you’re still happy to supply your teams kit, that would be class. If not i have an old blue kit from when I ran my clubs. Entirely up to you, you have my email x.

{Ed002's Note - I am happy to buy a kit for the team, let me know where you want me to ship it to. Also, I assume large or extra large. Let me know. What colour are the other side wearing? Thanks Benny. If I am in England I will try and come along.}

6.) 22 May 2018 18:03:37
Okay Ed002 thanks a lot. I have emailed your PA my address. The other team are in red, so a blue kit would be nice. As for sizes I’d say 10 large 4 XL should cover all our beautiful figures. I’m hoping this becomes a yearly cup so will use the same kits each year. Some of the boys may get stage fright if you attend, hopefully you don’t give us the hairdryer treatment at half time 🙈.

{Ed002's Note - Leave it with me Benny. Obviously if they are Liverpool fans playing they will need the extra long knuckle-dragger sleeves - I will get the ones with the hump on the back. I will speak to Coral in a few days when I get back to England and she will get it in hand right away. I will also get something that does not clash with the red. So may plan for electric cerise is probably down the pan. Really appreciate your efforts and will see if I can maybe fly back for this.}

7.) 22 May 2018 19:57:36
Benny,

I’m available to play 😃
I live in Oxfordshire.

8.) 22 May 2018 20:25:14
Why don’t Liverpool rumours buy 2 kits. Get go fund page and make it an annual thing. Each year get all players/ contributors to sign their name and something they can all look back on in how ever many years.

I know some spots left but if you are going do it Benny do it properly and leave a legacy pal.

9.) 22 May 2018 19:50:14
Ed02
Hump back, knuckle draggers, love it. Good to know your acerbic wit has not deserted you. Never reign it in or tone it down ED2. If you wind up a few bigots on the way, all the better.

10.) 22 May 2018 20:46:46
Hey Taffy. I do take a little offence to the doing it properly comment 😂

1. It is going to be an annual thing. We have two new kits, kindly bought by Ed002 and Ken.
2. Up till a month a go I had Dermot Gallagher refereeing ( he’s now on Hol, but I’ve emailed another efl referee )
3. We have named it the Matt Hawker cup, a legacy to Ed001s best mate who died from leukaemia.
4. We have a lovely little venue
5. It’s being live streamed on Facebook
6. We should have raised a thousand pounds for the charities
7. We will all be wearing black arm bands in honour of grumpy from the Everton page.
And finally we have people flying in from abroad to play in this game, with the possibility of meeting THE ed 002.
I don’t know to do it any more properly lol.

Liver1980 that’s brilliant. Please can you text me on the number above when you’ve read this.

11.) 22 May 2018 21:58:05
Benny your efforts are appropriated. Stellar job mate and for a fantastic cause.

12.) 22 May 2018 21:38:26
Could somebody post a link to the Facebook page please? I’ve search football transfer rumours, and as expected, hundreds of search results appeared.

13.) 22 May 2018 22:42:53
Hi Benny, I can play if needed, let me know what I need to do! Cheers.

14.) 22 May 2018 22:44:26
What a guy you are Benny and what a gesture from Ed2, your a legend mate. I wish I could attend such an event but life is far too busy these days, hope everybody involved has a great time.

15.) 22 May 2018 22:49:45
Wit: if you look at the banter page, an identical post is there where you can click the links. It may be on page 2 but I think it’s still main page.
John: text me mate.
Salah + navy. Thanks :) let’s hope it all goes smoothly!

16.) 22 May 2018 22:51:43
Should have used the search engine haha, emailed you benny and texted, cheers.

17.) 23 May 2018 10:10:23
Benny, get me a medium kit if you can 😂 I'm 5ft8. A large will drown me 👀.

18.) 23 May 2018 08:51:01
Long time watcher of the site but only an occasional poster. Really applaud what you are doing and would gladly make a donation. My football days are long gone but I always like a good cause that has some effort behind it.
Is there a Just Giving page link or something similar?

{Ed033's Note - Yes, football rumours just giving

19.) 23 May 2018 14:55:13
I only live 3 miles from Wroxton. May well come down and give you guys some support but I've not played in years so I'll leave that to the rest of you. Good job in sorting all this by the way, Benny.

20.) 23 May 2018 19:06:20
Hey,

Would love to get involved with this.
Don’t live too far away so if you are still looking for anyone to get involved then let me know!

Cheers,
Dave.

{Ed025's Note - just text benny on the number above morro..

21.) 23 May 2018 21:07:50
Awesome cheers Ed’s. Messaged you Benny!

22.) 24 May 2018 07:51:14
Gutted to be missing this, flying in from Asia just a bridge too far. Hopefully one of these days it coincides with a business/ holiday trip back home.

One request, can you record the game somewhere so we can watch back? Oh, and at the start can we do a team lineup with each persons site names so we can put a face to Ed’s, Benny, MK, Waro etc. would be fascinating I’m sure.

Finally, make sure if Ed02 turns up, can we arrange for a throne to watch the match and make sure he/ she is suitably dressed in androgynous clothing and wearing a stig helmet. We don’t want to destroy the mystique.

23.) 25 May 2018 16:24:03
Benny I see there's 11 days to go and 30% of the target has been reached, please remind me a couple of days before the date and I'll try to make up whatever else is needed to reach the target.

24.) 25 May 2018 16:24:03

Gerrard to become Klopp assistant.

benny baller

1.) 30 Apr 2018 11:04:27
It wouldn't surprise me in the least, I think he'd much prefer to be assistant to Klopp then going and managing Rangers or one would've thought so anyway? A lot going on at the moment.

2.) 30 Apr 2018 11:20:16
It would utterly baffle me if SG were to be made assistant given that Buvac has not left as an employee at the club.

3.) 30 Apr 2018 12:30:49
He hasn't done anything to warrant such a job, not even close.

4.) 30 Apr 2018 12:32:12
Hey Benny, I said this first 😡.

5.) 30 Apr 2018 12:42:56
Anyone for bringing pako back!

6.) 30 Apr 2018 12:46:24
Is Liverpool FC some sort of pantomime it always happens too us crazy drama before big games, coutihno before champs league qualifiers and premium start, now buvac before massive week, and pako wid Rafa, come on lads sort it out will ya's.

7.) 30 Apr 2018 13:38:05
From, by his own admission, gradually learning his trade with the Liverpool youngsters, to second-in-command at LFC / Rangers manager?
Neither, for me.
He should just carry on where he is, perhaps with the occasional input to the first team, and learn from Klopp and the staff at the club.

I can't believe that Rangers would ask him, they're too big for that.
Or that Gerrard would accept, it's a mammoth job, with trouble written all over it.

8.) 30 Apr 2018 14:03:25
Club legend SG maybe but tactician?

9.) 30 Apr 2018 15:19:26
Why do people keep over exaggerating the position rangers are in as a club? They are nowhere near title challengers, just look at how many points they are behind yet again. It’s going to take a number of years for them to close that gap, through good player recruitment and development of a squad which can compete with Celtic’s far superior squad. Surely rangers fans are not all so caught up in their past glory’s not to miss these facts? Yes Gerrard has no 1st team experience, but why not go manage in a league where there is almost no competition, where he can only really make things better for the club? Rodgers has revived his reputation up there (now linked with the Arsenal job) .

10.) 30 Apr 2018 17:17:09
There’s no chance he’s getting the assistant job and rightly so. Why do people think cos he played for us for years he should become assistant boss? . completely baffling what experience does he have for the role absolutely none at all.

Let’s stop the silly ideas he’s going to be liverpool manager one day, never going to happen.

Hey all. Oxford city have allowed us to host the Matt Hawker charity cup at their ground free of charge. So this is just a shout out to them, and to let anyone who's coming that it will be there.

1.) 11 Jan 2019 13:33:24
Well done on securing that Benny, fair play to Oxford City too.

This is a great display of compassion. I applaud you Benny and everyone else who contributes. God bless you all.

I didn't know the guy but if I was in his shoes. I would be eternally humbled and honoured at this display of love.

Rest in Peace Matt.

Well done Benny, and a great gesture from Oxford.

7.) 11 Jan 2019 19:59:44
Well done mate. Pretty soon as we’ll be playing it at the Kassam stadium!

8.) 11 Jan 2019 21:04:08
Look for the 20 foot model of a great white shark sticking up out of somebody's roof in the Headington area of Oxford!

9.) 11 Jan 2019 21:30:30
Went to Uni in Oxford and the Oxford City Ground is a cracking little ground. Good effort to get that one.

10.) 12 Jan 2019 15:15:12
Well done, that's marvelous news. proud of everyone involved.

10 Dec 2018 12:48:23
Read that Emre Can has made only 3 starts for juve this season. I think he was injured a little bit, but still, almost feel bad for him, he was never getting in ahead of Bentancur, Matuidi, Pjanic, Khedeira and even Dybala who sometimes drops into midfield.
The grass isn't always greener, but at least he will get a league medal in the second most, one team league, in Europe.

benny baller

1.) 10 Dec 2018 13:02:19
He’s not at that level yet frankly. It’s annoying signing a player young and full of promise and losing them for nothing, when they were starting to get better and better. His saving grace may be khedira and matuidi are getting on but he really needs to start more games.

2.) 10 Dec 2018 13:06:22
Come on Benny. It can't be only about medals? Don't you remember that one of the reasons he left (supposedly), was about not having Klopp's full confidence and more game time?

3.) 10 Dec 2018 13:22:26
But he played near enough every game when fit!?
Honestly, i wish him well, time will tell but fab could turn out to be an inspired signing.

4.) 10 Dec 2018 13:41:58
I just don’t get it. Why would you join a club not to play. I’m not saying he should of stayed at Liverpool ( I never actually rated him ) but it does make me wonder why players that can be deemed as having potential, would go and sit on a bench.
I think too many players this day and age want it all, immediately. When I was playing, the buzz knowing you was starting every week kept you focused, if you made mistakes you knew you could learn and put it right at the next game. All the training in the world doesn’t replace a competitive match. Only half way through a season, maybe he will turn it round.

5.) 10 Dec 2018 13:46:19
I honestly just never liked Can all that much as a player. He had his qualities but he never had the intelligence to apply himself as he should of done. He was a great dribbler, but he never seemed to dribble anywhere other than down a blind alley into the corner of the pitch. He was big and strong, but that never seemed to translate into him being much of an intelligent defensive player or strong tackler. He never showed much of a great passing range either. He was never really tencious or nimble enough to play under Klopp. I honestly just didn’t know what his best qualities were and where he should of played, Oxlade was a better attacking midfielder, Wijnaldum and Milner were better box to box players, Henderson was a better holding player. I could never see where he fitted in. Having said that i do think he will be fine at Juve in the end, and i am not spiteful for him having left. As Ed002 says, players are transiente employees of the club.

6.) 10 Dec 2018 14:36:17
Another one who will slip into the abyss. Nobody watches Juve unless their in CL and if he's not playing, then he'll be forgotten about.

{Ed0333's Note - Emre Can has a Thyroid nodule. This is an extremely serious situation which will probably require surgery and may worst case scenario end his career.

7.) 10 Dec 2018 16:29:07
Emre had an operation around October, due back training soon. Emre never really developed into the player he threatened to be, however still wish him luck and hope to see him get back in the team.

8.) 10 Dec 2018 16:35:20
In all fairness Ed he's actually had the surgery and is now available to play again.

{Ed001's Note - only just back.}

9.) 10 Dec 2018 19:20:32
Spot on, Ed333. To be fair, I found it strange that he was not playing as much so thanks to the Ed for dropping that piece of knowledge. Sadly, It seems some where dancing over his grave for not playing that much w/ o actually bothering to know why he was not playing. I personally do not have that much time for players who don't play for us anymore cos I am more about them having great careers even if it is not with us cos playing for us, is just a phase in a career and nothing more.

As for people having issues with him leaving, I propose we focus on the good things he did for us and the role he played in getting us to where we are now esp. in the 16/ 17 season where he played for weeks with a calf injury cos we had no depth and Klopp needed him. His superb goal helped us get top 4 that season vs Watford. I wish him well going forward and I wish others will just do the same and let the other bitter stuff go.

10.) 10 Dec 2018 22:25:32
No problem with Emre Can, gave 100% every time he pulled on the red shirt and was a model pro.

Best Wishes to him 👍.

06 Dec 2018 01:17:47
To answer something reds question. Firstly, I'd like to say, another shocker from the lineman who should of ruled out the goal.

What a save from Alisson to keep it out at that point.

But, your question " What is the rule about kicking the ball out of the keepers hands? Is it just that he's safe with "two hands" on it regardless of whether the ball is on the deck or not? Or does he have to be holding it with two hands off the ground? "

Law 12; fouls and misconduct, section 2.

A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball when:

the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e. g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands
or arms (except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save)
holding the ball in the outstretched open hand
bouncing it on the ground or throwing it in the air
A goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with the hands.

In summary, long gone has been the "two hands on the ball " argument. Goalkeepers are actually very well protected now, and so they should be after the Petr Cech injury.

Alisson had two hands, and it was on the ground. He could of had one hand, either way, it's a foul. And this is under indirect free kicks, because in theory there is no contact with the keeper, but only the ball.

Also believe the linesman should have spotted that from his angle.
Really makes me wonder how a blatant offside and dispossession of a keeper in control of the ball, got past him. Makes you wonder eh.

benny baller

1.) 06 Dec 2018 02:46:31
Exactly.

2.) 06 Dec 2018 07:54:03
I kmow that's the objective ruling benny, but it just looked like play on to me. And most of the time i'm going to guess the refs make instant subjective judgements aboit these kinds of things all the time.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 10:37:05
You say objective ruling faith, but we, as referees, are there to implement the rules. It is our game and we are in control, not objectively. It’s poor from the supposedly best officials in the world, week in week out.

4.) 06 Dec 2018 13:14:22
I watched the highlights only and to me it appeared Allison actually knocked the ball away with his left hand whilst trying to get both on it. Seemed he had hold of it with his right at first.

5.) 06 Dec 2018 13:15:15
It may have been offside but it wasn’t a foul for me. The Burnley player had every right to go for that ball, I’d hate to see football become a non contact sport.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 07:38:34
Benny, its impossoble for refs to remove subjectivity. Ya'll are still himan after all. Even ex refs turnes pundits say things "not enough contact to be a pen for me". could get multiple refs look at that. Am sure all of them would tell ya the law and then a mix would rule it differently depending on how they viewed it then applied the law.

I was a massive fan of Riise. But at the age of 27, am I witnessing Liverpool's best left back of my time?
Who would you rate as our top left backs since 91?
Robbo
Riise
Aurelio/ Flanagan ( for the 13/ 14 season, he was a beast )

1.) 28 Nov 2018 12:21:09
easily robbo but I can't lie I did love stig as well.

2.) 28 Nov 2018 12:39:42
Riise will always be my favourite left back, but I agree that Robbo is probably a better player overall. Riise's left peg though, a beast.

3.) 28 Nov 2018 13:47:49
Robbo is up there but I must choose Riise. Ask me in a year that may well change because Robbo is proving to be excellent.

4.) 28 Nov 2018 14:11:47
Ronnie Moran is Liverpool’s greatest left back, not because of his footballing abilities, but for the 46 years he put in at the club

True legend.

{Ed001's Note - I am surprised people rate Riise so highly, he was not a particularly good left back and an awful left midfielder.}

5.) 28 Nov 2018 14:25:29
Aurelio when fit was the best left back I've seen play for Liverpool. What a wand of a left foot he had!

6.) 28 Nov 2018 14:30:00
Aurelio for me was by far the best left back but clearly hardly ever fit. Riise was ok for me, not great.

7.) 28 Nov 2018 14:41:18
I agree ed - Risse was never quite good enough.

8.) 28 Nov 2018 14:46:21
I think he’s just one of those iconic cult heroes Ed001, probably for his left foot alone. I find it hard to answer this question because i can barely remember Riise in his prime, only the odd game of Aurelio and then the rest of my time has been the likes of Insua, Dossena, Enrique and Moreno. From my perspective the better question would be who has been the most hopless left back in my time!

{Ed001's Note - he scored some good goals that seems to have clouded the judgement of some.}

9.) 28 Nov 2018 15:26:51
I think for a lot of us Ed001, given we had some left back problems for a very long time after Riise appeared to be very good. Very happy the days of Dossena and Konchesky have come to an end.

On a seperate note what did you think of Emiliano Insua? If i recall correctly he started quite well but then it all went a bit pear shaped.

{Ed001's Note - he had discipline problems off the pitch, in particular with his eating habits as he had a love of fast food and ate huge amounts of it. It made him overweight and sluggish all the time. Shame as he had a genuine natural talent.}

10.) 28 Nov 2018 15:39:11
Remember thinking Insua was going to be a big talent, always wondered what went wrong.

{Ed001's Note - unfortunately the club did not take care of him away from the pitch in the way it is doing with players now. We were so far behind the times in that regard back then.}

11.) 28 Nov 2018 15:59:41
Paul Koncheskey. hands down the best I've seen 😉.

12.) 28 Nov 2018 16:01:36
I think kennedy was the best I have seen then a close second would be staunton. Burrow wasn't bad but Riise he wasn't very good at defending was always trying to get forward as much as possible. Robbie is the best I have seen in the last 10/ 15 years.

13.) 28 Nov 2018 16:06:57
Depends on what is meant by best! The best natural LB iv seen in my lifetime at LFC is Aurelio. That fella had real talent and was good in defence as well. However the most 'effective' in terms of keeping conceded goals down for me was when Carragher was playing left back when we had Henchoz and Hyypia in the middle and before Rafa moved him into the centre. We havnt had many good LB's in the last 20 years!

14.) 28 Nov 2018 17:24:21
AS much as I love Robbo and he’s work rate I would love to see him block a cross. He’s great going forward but I would love to see him work on the defending simple crosses.
Riise for me best left back. What a leg peg he had.

15.) 28 Nov 2018 17:32:27
I love Riise's left peg and Robbo's tenacity but Aurelio was on a different level. He was so technically gifted and a very intelligent player. It's shame he was so injury prone and never really got going for us.

I remember him being compared to Roberto Carlos. And who can forget that glorious free kick against United. Van der Sar was rooted to the spot.

16.) 28 Nov 2018 17:33:31
Everyone’s forgetting that Gomez played left back for a time.

17.) 28 Nov 2018 17:35:46
I would say that Riise was a fairly average left back and left midfielder but he did score some fantastic goals. For me the best left back I can remember is Aurelio, unfortunately injuries meant we never consistently saw the best of him. Robertson has the potential to surpass Aurelio over the next few years.

18.) 28 Nov 2018 17:43:38
Jesus wept i forgot about Konchesky. Have to feel sorry for some players, never going to be good enough and are always going to accept the chance to play for a club like liverpool, they only join to become the whipping boys of the hopeless managers that sign then.

19.) 28 Nov 2018 18:06:19
How about Milner? Had a really good season at left back.

That being said I’d have to go with Jim Beglin in my lifetime.

20.) 28 Nov 2018 18:38:26
Id say Aurelio or Christian Ziege.

21.) 28 Nov 2018 18:41:56
Riise must've spent too much time in the weights room, imo. He was never of slight build, but by around 2003/ 2004ish he looked quite a bit heftier than when he arrived. Made him kinda slow over short distances, I remember Pennant breezing past him repeatedly for Leeds the season before we bought him.

I'd agree that the best left back we've had in the Premier League era was Aurelio. Not overly spectacular in terms of pace or ground covering, but a great passer and an intelligent player with his positioning and use of the ball. Shame about injuries. Robbo's not far off that and if he keeps going the way he's going, I might put him ahead.

22.) 28 Nov 2018 19:23:21
Only one left back who has made a goal line clearance in a massive game; Djimi Traore.

23.) 28 Nov 2018 20:11:54
Only one left back to Cruyff turn into his own net and knock us out of the FA cup also MK! I’m surprised it took that long for Djimi to be mentioned, though. What a player.

24.) 28 Nov 2018 21:41:59
Aurelio was top quality, just made of wet paper. Such a massive shame.

{Ed025's Note - thats just a tissue of lies hsf.. :)

25.) 28 Nov 2018 23:44:29
Haha MK, I remember him scoring a back heel own goal in the cup, against Burnley was it? Also, if I remember correctly, didn't Riise break Smiths leg with a free kick? Think Ed001 summed up Robertson well, needs to fine tune his crossing and timing.

26.) 29 Nov 2018 09:41:08
Too early to determine that. I love Robbo but Risse was awesome. I think thw best left back we had im prem would be Marcus Babel ( may be he was a right back) . I am getting old.

27.) 29 Nov 2018 09:42:29
Also the only left back who has cruyff turned an own goal MK.

28.) 29 Nov 2018 23:42:21
Horse - Babel was a right back.

Finan occasionally played left back, but was predominantly a right back.
I don’t think we’ve had a great left back in the “premier league” era. Riise was not good at defending.

Rumour has it, Everton have appealed Henderson's red card 😂.

1.) 24 Nov 2018 23:02:54
I think he's stressed knowing his minutes are going to drop now that fab is settling in.

2.) 24 Nov 2018 23:40:16
Classy benny.

Pissed that he got a new contract about a week after you declared the beginning of the end for him?

3.) 25 Nov 2018 00:26:15
Called a joke SR.
Why would I be pissy about him having ands contract? He will be a fantastic, back up, player. Like he already is if you hadn’t noticed.

4.) 25 Nov 2018 08:18:32
Nice on, Benny. I caught the joke. Hendo is not a back up player and never was. He was brilliant vs Watford, IMO in the way he protected the back four very well till his brain fart. We have seen what we are like in big games when he does not play and it showed vs Arsenal where Fab had a 'mare and had Hendo played, we would have had better protection and tempo in the game. Just my opinion.

5.) 25 Nov 2018 09:14:30
Brover how do you know that would have happened if Hendo had played v Arsenal. Anyone swear we only win games if he plays. He’s played in both defeats this season so our protection and tempo wasn’t great in those games. We have quite a few match winners in our squad and for me Hendo ain’t one of them. He’s a good player but doesn’t offer more than Wijnaldum and Milner but gets 10 times the plaudits for some reason.

Glad we are looking at Ramsey tbh. Good player, adds strength In depth. Of course he would want first team action regularly, which will probably put an end to a deal being possible.
Hopefully he sees how our midfield 3 keep rotating this year and he bites.
Milner and Lallana can’t go on forever, unfortunately!

Which player would you sign weighing up talent to potential cost and how they’d fit in with the team ethic, Ed002? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them play.

{Ed002's Note - I would not want to presume.}

I agree fab needs to stay in midfield. We took a punt on Gome at the start of the season because Matip and Lovren were injured and he became number 1 choice. I say punt lightly as we saw him a lot at rb not cb. Another kid but with our strongest 11, could prove worth while.

Mk summed it up for me bud. There’s no decision to be made. My post explaining the situation is on the others page. The linesman put his flag up because he didn’t know who the ball came off. So it was a safety net flag. The ref explained it came off an Everton player, and no problem.

Not seen the incident. But ed001 you are wrong. The bank doesn’t need to be played forward. This is a general myth amongst the fans. You can be offside from a pass/ knock played in any direction.
