Refreshing to see so many positive posts today. Also nice to see a few that are eating a bit of humble pie about a few players. Much more of the same. All out for 2nd place. We must finish above the mancs.

Thomas Lemar definitely looks like a Klopp type player. Strong, quick, direct and incredibly difficult to get the ball off. Has great quality on the ball and loves to work hard. I'm hoping we pursue with signing him.

At the end of the day football is just a job. If we all got offered more money that was in a place where the sun shines constantly then we'd probably all take it. It's not just football, he has his familys happiness to think of too. Coutinho was a quality player and the fact there's a lot of people calling him this and calling him that is purely because he is such a quality player that no one wants to lose. Those saying he has acted this was and that way need to look at the bigger picture. Also remind yourself of the fantastic player he is and what memorable performances he produced know his time here. He will be missed but he will be replaced.

As Ed02 says, players are transient employees who come and go BUT the club remains. Cou's gone now and good luck to him. We have a manager now who knows what he's doing and the decision to let Cou go was his and his alone, NOT FSG as some clueless fans are ranting about on SM. I trust Klopp to do the right thing and I'm fine with whatever stepos we take after this departure.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 18:50:05
Agreed.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 18:56:27
FSG did as much as they could to persuade him but he wanted to go, they lashed out £75m for van Dijk and have got a huge transfer fee out of Barca. The timing of it is rubbish but it is what it is. I hope we now go out and buy a top class replacement like Lemar and bring in a top class keeper then concentrate on the rest of the season.

I've said it in a reply previously but it's so nice to see the introduction of Karius, VVD and Gomez to bring a calmness to our backline. For years we have had GKS and Defenders who constantly panic and make mistakes. We need these types of players. Still a long way to go but positive signs.

A bit too casual at times though. Karius was too relaxed at times and Gomez and Van Dijk both git lucky a couple of times. At the end of the day though, we won.

Our penalty was soft but in the modern day that's a foul. Anywhere else on the pitch, nobody bats an eyelid. We'll, unless it's Bolasie rugby tackling Matip. Not that Matip would've got back anyway though. He tracks back at about 2mph.

In the end, the only goal without controversy was scored by the £75m man. What a way to start your Liverpool career! Thunderbirds are go!

2.) 05 Jan 2018 22:35:10
Except he moves at snail pace. Hopefully he be coached out of that.
U less we are going to sign a top keeper then suggest Ward stays back up and Karius gets a go. Would get rid of migs.
Van Dijk looks superb though and Gomez looks a brilliant player. I’m impressed with Robertson too.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 22:37:35
Karius is possibly the only goalkeeper worse than Mignolet in the league. Sorry to be negative but he is just a nervous wreck everytime he plays. He spends far too much time posting selfies and worrying about his hair.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 22:39:34
Would your rather a keeper to come out and lash it into the stand or a player to play it into no man's land? This only creates momentum for the opposition. I know I wouldn't. It's exactly what we need. Yes perhaps a little casual on a couple of occasions but it's the way forward.

5.) 05 Jan 2018 22:42:38
Karius was looked nervy and indecisive tonight, and I'm not really sure why because I thought he'd generally played well so far this season, so he shouldn't really be doubting himself.

I'd still play him instead of Migs if I were in charge anyway.

6.) 05 Jan 2018 22:44:14
Sorry but Karius is not a nervous wreck. I think perhaps you're not used to our backline trying to play because this is what we have been used to since the days of Hanson. Karius tries to play but perhaps is a bit too casual on a couple of occasions but as Redwin says above, hopefully he can be coached or just learn the pace of English football more.

7.) 05 Jan 2018 22:44:49
Incredibly negative Les, and without substance.

8.) 05 Jan 2018 22:46:21
I think the karius being slow thing is harsh, he needs a run of games for confidence, there is a very good keeper in there and as fans we need to give him time, look how many mistakes migs makes. We are only nervous as we are a) new to it and b) have t trusted a keeper since the first few years of Reina.

9.) 05 Jan 2018 22:49:53
karius was calm? Please tell me when. Too flat footed and handed for their goal. Great win tonight. As if anyone doesn't know though, we are desperately, desperately, desperately weak in the GK department.

10.) 05 Jan 2018 22:54:38
Very uncalled for in my opinion Karius was playing with a new centre back who is far more vocal and organiser more than Lovren, Matip and Klavan. They just need to get use to each other and both will be fine. All of Van Dijk, Gomez and Karius have lapses in concentration but in time this will hopefullly be ironed out.

11.) 05 Jan 2018 22:55:59
Walkout for there goal the whole team were all over the place and gylfi put it away with a calm finish, karius at times played the ball out from the back, yes he looked rusty but after a run of games I think he can be a very good keeper imo.

{Ed0333's Note - I like Karius. Much prefer him to Migs. He needs games to iron out his the wrinkles in his game. The more game time he has the more confidence he will get and the more consistent he will become. Classy keeper in my opinion.

12.) 05 Jan 2018 23:02:31
Okay I'll say it again Walkon

13.) 05 Jan 2018 23:13:25
How come no one has mentioned the ball he dropped when trying to catch a cross? Migs would have. been slaughtered for that but golden boy gets lauded as the answer to all our problems. Good job VVD bollocked him a couple of times to get his arse in gear and come out for the ball. A half decent keeper would have anticipated that himself and been in position.

{Ed0333's Note - I’m pretty sure he was fouled when he dropped that cross I stand corrected though. I like the golden boy moniker it suits him

14.) 05 Jan 2018 23:13:35
Look at De Gea when he first came to Utd, they all wanted him gone. I say give him the rest of the season, what’s the worse that can happen if we don’t give him a chance. mignolet in net!
And if he hasn’t proven he is the answer then we dip into the market for a replacement.

{Ed0333's Note - totally agree mate

15.) 05 Jan 2018 23:30:51
I'm sure he caught it but it hit someone's head on the way down. These things happen.

16.) 05 Jan 2018 23:46:14
This wasn't a performance to convince Klopp to make Karius first choice but he didn't make any serious blunders. Rack it up as a learning experience and move on.

17.) 05 Jan 2018 23:48:10
Spot on, Ed. Karius will NEVER show his potential and get a true understanding with his back line if he keeps playing once every month. That is just insane. Those bashing him need to take a day off. The kid needs to be playing full time so he can get to grips with the PL and his defenders to forge a good relationship. Playing once every month will not make him better and those judging him on that, need to give their heads a wobble.

18.) 06 Jan 2018 12:10:38
Karius is not the answer VVD had to scream at him to sweep up that is not good people.

Hi Ed. I understand that we may not be interested in Cebellos but could it be the fact we haven't really scouted the player and not have a heap of information on him. As he was offered to us then perhaps he wasn't looked at previously.

Farmerfc1515

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I would hope that we would have plenty of information on any player in the top flight of the major 5 leagues in Europe, at the very least. The only issue might be all the background and upbringing etc checks that should be made, but that we as a club seemed to have not bothered with in recent years.}

I respect your opinion and yes I think he would get into those sides when fit with a run of games under his belt. He has more to his bow than grafting. That was just a great attribute he possesses worth a mention. If he can't get back to full fitness then I am with you. He will just fade away but I'm hoping he can get back to where he was.

Farmerfc1515

{Ed025's Note - i suppose it would be boring if we all thought the same farmer, when naby comes i dont think we will see jordan except on the bench mate but we will have to wait and see on that one i suppose..

Sorry Ed but he gets a lot of stick from clueless fans I'm afraid. He may not do the magical things that catches everyone's eye but he does the graft and keeps the ball ticking along which is exactly what he is asked to do and what he's in the team to do. I don't want to call you clueless but you seem to lack a bit of knowledge this one I'm afraid.

Farmerfc1515

{Ed025's Note - that is just my opinion farmer, grafters will only get you so far im afraid and are fine for teams that expect to finish outside the top 4, everyone should work hard for the team of course but you need more strings to your bow if you want to compete with the elite, the acid test is to ask yourself if he would get in the city, united, chelsea or spurs side?..that is a resounding NO mate, you obviously rate the guy and thats fine but dont decry others for having a different opinion than yours..

Complete rubbish. I love Can and hope he stays. I also love Hendo. Very different players with very different attributes.
