@carra and @victorgodamn have gone quiet. Any updates, guys? Is he still going or not? Iβd take Sam Allerdyce rather than another season of watching bake bean head ruin us!!
26 May 2026 19:35:05
He's not going, it's absolutely nailed on that he is staying.
26 May 2026 19:41:57
He's shtaying, I'm afraid.
26 May 2026 15:44:47
Heard Minteh and Barnes are top targets, as Diomande might wait a year to go PSG as crazy wages on offer. With the Barnes deal also looking at Livramento and Hall, offering Gomez, Elliot and Tzimikas. I doubt any of that is true, but if we are raiding Newcastle I'd like to think we are wanting Guimares.
26 May 2026 16:33:29
Sorry pal, but Barnes is just not LFC level to take us forwards. Has the English this going, but other than that is a mid table PL player, not what we need.
Minteh is always thrown up because he worked with Slot before, again, don't see that one personally.
When we are linked to the likes of Diomande and Barcola, they are in a different ball park.
26 May 2026 16:36:09
If you're referring to Harvey Barnes... then I'd rather have John Barnes instead.
26 May 2026 16:41:15
Minteh & Harvey Barnes? Bottom of the barrel, meet the scraper. That's Bodgers level dross.
26 May 2026 16:41:47
I'd rather just not buy anyone.
26 May 2026 17:08:56
Sounds like a load of waffle; no way Diomande is waiting a year, absolutely zero chance Leipzig are in a position to offer higher wages than PSG, and a less than zero chance he'd take it even if they could.
26 May 2026 18:26:13
Harvey Barnes, jeez, how the mighty have fallen.
26 May 2026 19:32:53
What's the point, eh, LFC8?
I don't see the point of getting wound up by rumours, either.
26 May 2026 12:06:22
Seems extremely unlikely, but some on X claiming we are interested in Foden.
Any truth in it?
Thoughts on it?
26 May 2026 12:58:08
Hopefully not because he's massively over rated and if he won't even try for Man City, then he definitely won't try for us.
26 May 2026 13:15:40
If he was cheap I'd take a gamble, English too.
Can do a job in a few positions, but I have a feeling he's someone who needs mollycoddling and Slot ain't that guy.
26 May 2026 13:40:35
He already signed a new contract with City to 2030.
26 May 2026 14:11:50
He's got a ridiculous face.
26 May 2026 14:36:57
He's literally just signed a new long term deal at City. Can't see it at all.
26 May 2026 14:49:29
They're pulling your leg.
26 May 2026 15:18:21
Don't think his ma would be happy.
26 May 2026 15:40:57
It would make getting hammered with his mate Jack Grealish every week easier, less travel.
26 May 2026 15:43:40
That's all we need.
Another number ten or number ten type player.
26 May 2026 15:45:00
I'm sure Slot would use him as a backup LB!
26 May 2026 15:36:11
Is right Scouse John
His ma would get chinned again if she stepped foot near Anfield π€£
26 May 2026 15:58:48
You should seriously unfollow that Twatter account. He signed a new contract a month ago. Why would we even be interested in an AM when we just signed Wirtz last summer and have Dom too?! Ask your Twatter friend if he even follows football, will you?
26 May 2026 17:24:23
Foden can keep Slot company in Ibiza.
26 May 2026 18:27:16
Slot will get on great with Foden's mam in Ibiza.
26 May 2026 19:34:57
Foden doesn't like to train, so will fit in beautifully with Slot's plan.
26 May 2026 19:36:37
It's unlikely to happen, but it's a rumour and another excuse to stick the boot into Slot, so keep them coming.
26 May 2026 11:01:55
Morning eds1
Do you know if Real Madrid are still interested in AM from us?
{Ed001's Note - last I heard, no.}
26 May 2026 11:38:27
Awful news that Ed001
26 May 2026 11:42:06
Oh s***, are we stuck then? π
Maybe our AmDram needs some reinforcement? π€
Desperately making some lemonade ...
26 May 2026 12:34:14
Hopefully, they take him and Konate.
26 May 2026 12:35:03
A very underwhelming player wearing the No. 10 shirt.
Better than Voronin, and Joe Cole though...
There is a weight to the shirt, you know...
1- Clemence/Alisson
4- Hyypia/Vvd
6- Hansen
7 - Keagan/Dalglish/Suarez
8 - Gerrard
9 - Rush/Fowler/Torres/Bobby
10 - Barnes/Owen
11- Salah.
26 May 2026 12:47:55
Does Mane not get on the list for 10? Souness in at 11 if Dalglish in (era wise).
26 May 2026 13:11:38
Yeah you missed Mane and Souness...
26 May 2026 14:06:31
Wayne, the number on the back is just that, a number. The crest on the front is everything.
26 May 2026 15:09:28
Missed the Mighty Emlyn at 6, good old Crazy Horse.
26 May 2026 15:33:25
What? No Jimmy Case (8), Peter Thompson (11) or the wonderful Ian Callaghan (7)? ...And of course our own "Flying Pig" Tommy Lawrence (1).
26 May 2026 15:48:19
Steve Heighway!!??
26 May 2026 18:03:07
Jan Molby, mate.
26 May 2026 09:27:24
Two Youngster-Rumours:
Keneth Eichhorn - one of the biggest midfield-talents in Germany. Basically everyone is in for him but according to reports in Germany Liverpool are the frontrunners. Cost will be at 10-12 Million Euro (exit clause). He will be loaned out for 1-2 years.
Samuel Martinez - young kid from Colombia. Also a big talent and apparently we already signed him a few days ago but I cant find anything on socials π Not someone for the first team for now but someone with huge potential.
26 May 2026 11:04:16
The first one has been reported fairly regularly recently by Bayern Space (ITK Space).
The Colombian kid I've seen Romano posted a few times about it.
Don't know much about either to be honest, and it's a shame we're not bringing through more youngsters from our own academy.
26 May 2026 11:33:12
If the 16-year-old can tackle, track back and pass a ball within 10 seconds of receiving it, he doesn't need to be loaned out.
26 May 2026 12:29:13
Sir Bob, I believe he has to be 18 to immediately play for us. Therefore, he will be loaned out until then.
26 May 2026 18:48:14
Fabinho's Hair - Trust you on that one. The point was more around if he's got those qualities - it would bout him in our starting 3 in midfield.
26 May 2026 08:33:24
Morning Gents.
Few sore heads today?
Been told Michael Edwards is to leave his position at the club.
No manager update as of yet.
Cheers
26 May 2026 08:49:18
Thanks for sharing Robbo, I think if this does happen the dominoes will start to fall.
26 May 2026 08:52:22
Salutations, Robbo, if Edwards and Hughes are both looking likely to leave, given that they are the two responsible for long term planning for the squad and team over the next few years (and in the present), who is going to be doing all the selling and buying this summer? Surely we have got the ball rolling on purchasing players already? It looks a right mess at the moment.
26 May 2026 08:52:42
Accountability lives.
26 May 2026 08:53:57
ππππππ Take a bow, Robbo, take a bow.
26 May 2026 08:56:51
Cheers Rob,
Are we replacing or restructuring now he's left?
26 May 2026 08:57:11
If this is true, he is admitting defeat, leaving midway through a rebuild which is in his vision.
How can a DOF choose the style of play for one of the biggest football clubs in the world? He is a football man in some senses, but does not possess the qualities of a high level manager and tactician.
This now means we'd have a half finished rebuild which may not suit the next manager's vision.
If he goes, they all have to go.
26 May 2026 08:59:36
I'm told Slot will be sacked only when the search parties in Amsterdam & Ibiza can locate him.
26 May 2026 09:02:58
Michael Edwards leaving, below rumour suggesting Klopp coming back.
.Am I putting 2 & 2 together and getting 22, like Ed1 has suggested? Almost certainly, but I love to live in ignorant bliss!
26 May 2026 09:04:54
Well, that's the first bit of good news, Robbo. π
26 May 2026 09:05:19
Ah yeah, Edwards wasn't part of the round table love in. Makes sense. Thanks Robbo, keep them coming.
26 May 2026 09:11:28
In a Kenneth Williams voice... ooooooh I say. π
26 May 2026 09:20:32
Klopp could replace Edwardβs and come in a DoF role. We can dream.
26 May 2026 09:21:45
Nice one, Robbo, hope he is taking Hughes and Slot with him.
Must admit, Hughes and Edwards' faces looked like they were not happy on Sunday, giving Salah and Robertson their farewells.
26 May 2026 09:32:41
Pity it's not Hughes and Slot.
26 May 2026 09:35:18
Good new long term, but not sure if it is right now. Do we know which of Hughes & Edwards are making the decision to keep Slot or is it a collective decision. If I remember correctly he was the one who possibly put a spanner in Xabi coming in.
But perhaps he was the one pushing for change of manager & Hughes was againstβ¦..
We need both gone - Hughes Iβve no real faith in either, at 60 points itβs our lowest points total since the 58 Hodgson managed & youβd have to say he had a far poorer team/squad.
26 May 2026 09:43:07
Would be quite a sickener if we didn't go for Alonso on Edwards' insistence for him then to be fired and we lose a good manager. It would mean a very very poor season gets worse...
26 May 2026 09:54:05
Hallelujah!
26 May 2026 10:06:14
The dominos starting to fall.
26 May 2026 11:02:04
For the stat obsessed guys, who said Slot's similar to Klopp, in fact he's similar to Hodgeson. Over a 20 game period for LFC, Hodgeson took 25 points. From a 20 game period this season, Slot's taken 24 points. Based on that, and the potential for a replacement needed, would they look at stats and say Slot's done ok, or would they say, wow no way, he's gotta go, let's get Klopp in as DOF and Hoeness as his Manager/Coach could be worth a punt.
26 May 2026 11:15:25
I was under the understanding that Edwards was brought in by FSG to run their multi club portfolio! Now, they have shelved it, it makes sense he is no longer needed because his primary job role doesn't exist. Not like he is any good as a DOF & could do that instead. π€£
26 May 2026 11:55:47
Crazy how much our opinion of Edwards has turned around. During his first stint with us, he was Jesus reincarnated. Selling useless players for tonnes of money and buying great players for peanuts.
Now he's chief exec of football, he's absolutely ruined everything with his pal Hughes.
{Ed001's Note - our opinion? Only those who had no idea about him thought he was any good and then purely because he made sure to tell everyone he was great and give no credit to the actual people who did the work. He was terrible in his first stint. It was a huge mistake to bring him back.}
26 May 2026 12:01:31
Klopp can never be a dof for us, he would be a millstone round the manager's neck.
26 May 2026 12:03:31
Correct, SzSz8, was just going to write that. Finding another club to buy was his role, no club, no job, no Edwards.
26 May 2026 12:17:40
Hopefully, people saying Gordon come over last week is right in the fact he will be swinging that axe ...
We need to be brutal and quick. Too many other clubs going to be playing catch up, and we need to be decisive.
Bin all 3. Start again. And do it quickly!
26 May 2026 12:35:21
Good. Get rid of him. Failed us in November.
26 May 2026 12:45:49
Cheers, Robbo.
If true, it would make sense. There have been rumours for a while now about FSG wanting to clear house behind the scenes. Also, rumours they've been looking at sporting directors in Germany.
Then, you've got the Klopp rumours, which may or may not be true, but some have said he's been spoken to about a CEO of Football-type role rather than management.
One thing I noticed before any of this news, and thought was strange at the time, was Edwards not being at Anfield for the final game of the season. It was Salah and Robbo's send-off, two club legends, and he played a big part in signing both.
Feels like something bigger than just a managerial change is going on behind the scenes.
26 May 2026 12:51:37
Honestly, news of Edwards, Hughes, and Slot leaving would be better than any new signing, in my opinion.
26 May 2026 14:14:46
Hopefully Edwards goes to Milan, Hughes to Saudi, and Slot off to Ajax before the season starts!
26 May 2026 14:39:50
Now that the multi club purchase has been ditched by FSG, I don't see a role for Edwards anymore.
Makes sense for him to move on.
26 May 2026 15:12:49
@Fbart, only a casual or relentlessly lazy fan (or Slopt acolyte) would dare compare Slot to Klopp in any way, shape possible, esp. after this season just gone.
@Clay, why do we need to wait till the search parties discover Slot in Ibiza or Amsterdam when we can just sack his arse in absentia?
26 May 2026 07:38:34
Morning Eds, thanks for your great work again this season - a daily reader for the past 25 years. Daft rumour here but the guy next to me at the match whose from Ainsdale told me that there are rumours among the Formby set of Ulla and Jurgen returning,
Thought nothing of it until Kevin Nolan spent five minutes on Sky's Premier League show discussing it - daft thing to bring up unless he has some inside knowledge.
Then it makes sense. Jurgen loved his visit for the Legends match in March, seemed tempted to return to management with Real, probably misses the big time/ buzz (a bit like Macca and Ringo releasing albums at 83 and 85), Mike Gordon sounded him out about Hoeness, and Jurgen would probably be very excited about managing the likes of Wirtz, Isak and Diomande and adding another league/ CL to his legacy.
{Ed001's Note - it might just be a return for the summer, it can be a bit hot in Spain for some. I wouldn't personally get excited, he can base his home anywhere and do the RB job, so it might just be that they want to return to live in a place they enjoyed after finding Spain is not for them. A bit like my parents, they liked Spain, but me ma found the heat in summer too much and wanted to live back home.
Though I do hope he is coming in to kick out Hughes, Edwards and Slot!!}
26 May 2026 08:18:55
Ed001 did Jurgen not like it too much here because they could not really go out that much for meals and such because of the attention he got.
I know he said he does not miss it and Ulla does not want him to go back to it Ed.
But I don't believe him when he says Klopp it he has far too much energy and without the daily work he must be driving himself and Ulla mad.
Now Pep has left for Klopp to Dominate the league the mental fatigue will be nowhere as intense.
Maybe am just dreaming Ed but if I don't dream and think of another year of Slot the only sleep I will get is when am watching us play.
26 May 2026 08:35:52
Love these sort of posts.
Jurgen and Ulla keeping up with the Ainsdale/Formby WhatsApp group.
Would love it to be on the button.
{Ed001's Note - the most likely is they are having a bit of work done on the house ready to rent it out or something and people are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 22.}
26 May 2026 09:29:12
I don't think the Klopps owned a house on Merseyside. They rented BR's house, which was then bought by the club. The club intended to use it as a house to offer the manager, but put it on the market after Slot decided he wanted to live in Hale.
26 May 2026 10:45:28
Even so, just the thought of Klopp returning lifts everyone's spirits.
26 May 2026 12:19:45
The club bought the house.
25 May 2026 15:24:27
A friend of mine who has contacts has said we are going all in for Wharton palestra Diomande & Barcola.
25 May 2026 18:37:16
Might as well sign Susan Boyle while Slot's in charge.
25 May 2026 18:48:32
Wharton will make no difference to that midfield. Needs physicality alongside him, as do all our current midfielders.
25 May 2026 18:58:37
We need a proper manager first. Nothing will go right till Slot is relieved of his duties.
25 May 2026 19:06:38
Wharton is so overrated imo.
25 May 2026 19:07:25
Madmax, is Susan Boyle single? Asking for my friends uncles, aunties, cousins, dad's budgie ...
25 May 2026 19:08:17
When did he swap his glasses for contacts?
25 May 2026 19:08:25
Quite like Elliot Anderson.
25 May 2026 19:11:01
Makes no difference who we sign if Slot is coaching them.
25 May 2026 19:19:26
The midfield won't be sorted until we play as a team. The attackers press and the defence drops deep. How do we expect the midfield to cover all that space? We could have the most physical midfielders in the world and they'd get run ragged.
25 May 2026 19:30:42
Wharton is a special talent and immediately solves our progression from the back problem - he will greatly help us escape the opposition press. A cheat code like Trent
But he enhances our off the ball softness. Tough one.
25 May 2026 19:33:53
Excellent appraisal, ItsSlotallthatbad.
Teams are built of units. We were so good under Jurgen, from a defensive perspective, because Mo, Bobby & Sadio were so aggressive.
Teams sat further and further back, as those three could hit on a break. The midfield allowed Trent and Robbo to play like wide men, which left Virg, Ali, and one other to clean up if a team dared to attack us.
Now that we have no one who can press up top, midfield is wide open, and that exposes the defence.
Also, no Trent means teams can play a much higher line and squeeze our midfield, which has exposed Mac10 this season.
The midfield will only improve if the attacking unit starts running Way more.
25 May 2026 19:41:33
Wharton doesn't improve us off the ball. He's just as slow, immobile, weak and defensively inept as our current crop. Teams will still play straight through us.
25 May 2026 19:42:43
I agree with Davey. We could have the modern day equivalent of 1970 Brazil and Sloth would screw it up.
25 May 2026 19:52:57
Not sure of the allure of playing for Slot. Possibly advertising half the week off on full pay.
25 May 2026 19:56:25
Not a defence of Slot, but people seem to be forgetting what an open drain we were to counter attacks in Klopp's last few seasons. We would also routinely go a goal down early on.
I think Slot got the balance right last year, but has messed it up this year: we are no longer able to attack, nor defend....
25 May 2026 20:00:18
So basically to summarise, Slot completely ruined our team.
One thing I noticed about Slot is that he needs everything to be 100% right. If it's not perfect, then he can't win.
Low blocks, injuries, wind, VAR. Other managers just get on with it and try and win, but he just can't do this. The players aren't playing for him either. Why would you, he's a wab.
25 May 2026 20:03:02
Slot is a pleb.
25 May 2026 20:05:10
Monstersouness,
Not sure I remember it like you. We started to look bad when Hendo, Fab, Milner, Thiago and Naby all basically hit a wall at the same time. We then bought a new midfield who had legs for days, and hey presto, we looked better.
We only struggled in Jurgens' last season when we had 12 first teamers get injured around the same time. I have the list. It was a crazy injury run.
25 May 2026 20:17:14
MasterS, I said early season fix the defense and build from that. It's just won Arsenal a title. Or, get the attack firing esp after the massive outlay. Also, recognize that Gravenberch is no 8 and MacAllister is no 6, but keep playing them in roles that they are clearly not suited for.
We had glaring issues in all parts of the pitch this season, and Slot addressed none of them. All we got symptoms and he was unable to treat or identify the illness.
25 May 2026 20:18:56
Susan Boyle, on the wing.
She can't run, but she can sing...
25 May 2026 20:20:29
He can now also blame the mis-matching new kit, "players couldn't see each other".
25 May 2026 21:14:40
Diomande always wanted to play right-back.
25 May 2026 21:24:30
I disagree with the idea that there's no point buying anybody until Slot (or any other manager we might have) is gone.
I think that the issue lies with the change of role from manager to head coach. No evidence whatsoever. As I am part of the IKFA faction, I think the change in the name meant a big change in part of the job description, with Slot being given a much diminished voice in who comes in. If my assumption is anywhere near accurate, then you could argue that, whilst Hughes brought in some very, very good players, they are a lot less effective than they should have been because they weren't a fit for what Slot had in mind for the system he wanted to play.
What would be a really good idea would be for the two (three if Edwards is staying) to sit down as part of the review and decide how the coach wants to play, and who the players that we need to make it happen are, clearly identified and brought in.
Not only might we see a team playing rather than 11 blokes who look like they're just been introduced to each other, but we might even see what the half a billion's worth of talent we bought last year can actually do.
Alternatively, and based on the evidence of the last 18 months, I'd replace the DoF and Head Coach along with the current global football manager (which looks like an idea that's currently dead in the water) as there are too many (three many) getting in the way of each other.
A DoF and Manager both worthy of the name and a clearly defined and agreed system of playing and a squad to play to the system - which would see us playing football that we want to watch and support.
25 May 2026 21:30:04
Mr Why, I hear you, but has that new midfield not also run aground? I have no idea why, but the likes of Mac are a bust this season.
25 May 2026 22:01:25
What prescription are his contacts?
25 May 2026 22:05:15
Isn't Susan Boyle still at her album party? If you know, you know, and apparently she never left!
25 May 2026 22:14:41
Wdw, that makes way too much sense. Hard to fathom that isn't already the case. As for Slot's way of playing, does anyone know what that is?
25 May 2026 22:15:06
Could you imagine MacAllister playing in the Championship lol. He'd be dead after half a season. I don't know what has happened to him, but I think it must be all the days off.
I understand that recovery is important, but if Slot wasn't so arrogant, he would maybe look at all the injuries and maybe, just maybe, ask himself, is it something to do with his training?
25 May 2026 22:47:15
We should be investing in a Defensive Midfielder.
Order of transfers
1. Slot out - Decent Manager in.
2. Sell Endo, McAllister, Gravenberch, sell them all. Jones, if he gets a better deal, along with Elliot.
3. Chiesa, Gakpo, sell them.
25 May 2026 22:47:56
Why not Ederson from Atalanta?
25 May 2026 23:16:22
We could sign prime Ronaldo, Messi, and Mbappe. Our clueless bald fraud of a manager would play them at RB, LB and in goal.
Bloke does my head in.
Sooner he goes the better.
25 May 2026 23:37:34
I'm not sure why your friend wearing contact lenses is relevant.
26 May 2026 01:10:47
I would rather us sign Palestra, than Dumfries.
26 May 2026 06:41:57
Palestra and Wharton both look like good skilful footballers, but not much pace or power between them. I think I'd prefer someone like the Brentford right back, and Anderson for midfield.
25 May 2026 15:15:43
Kenneth Eikhorn.Being linked.Anyone know if he is any use?
25 May 2026 15:26:51
Not sure if he is any good, as he is only 16, guess one for the future. But he is a defensive midfielder.
25 May 2026 15:29:10
Kennet Eichhorn, another one for the future if links are true.
25 May 2026 15:41:06
The shadow squad will no longer be built from crocks or misfits who rarely play. The young side being assembled will be top tier, which will also serve to highlight that the pathway from youth set up to the first team is open. This is a big part of the new drive.
Why waste cash on Fede's and Gomez's who cost a lot but rarely play - it serves no purpose and pushes up wage outgoings.
This all points to a different manager incoming, since Slot has done nothing over two seasons to prove he has the balls to involve youth.
25 May 2026 15:51:56
Eikhorn is Fabinho, Fabinho is Eickhorn! (Ace Ventura voice)
25 May 2026 16:00:43
Seen as a real talent already in Germany. Playing first team football already at 16 years old and 6 foot 2.
Definitely one for the future, but we badly need midfielders ready to play now.
25 May 2026 16:32:15
Yep, Molby, we do but if he's a big talent and we can do it aswell as buying for the here and now we should do it. These are the kind of signings we give out about the club not doing.
25 May 2026 16:42:28
Totally agree, Florian, as long as we get that physical, mobile midfielder in the summer window.

Last Kenneth we signed worked out well enough.

What we're doing with youth feels a lot like what we did under Rafa in the noughties. We went around nabbing all these players from academies around the world who were supposedly the top young talents and filled our youth teams with them.
How many of them actually made it?
Ironically, our academy did best in recent history when we focused more on developing local talent who have been on the books since they were kids.

Doesn't matter who's linked. U know the rest. Mission to convert u, Florian.

Not getting what you mean, Flyer. Has been a long weekend though the auld noggin isn't in the best of shapes. π

Only watched some YouTube videos when Bayernspace linked him a few weeks ago. My type of player. He's playing 2nd division football, so it's hard to see what level he really is, but he looks to have good anticipation, very good at looking after the ball, can run with it, and play nice early balls to spring attacks.
Declan Rice vibes. Get him signed and loan him back for a season.

Surely we should be looking at signing Man Utd target Ederson from Atlanta?

@Pessimistic Dreamer,
What about Mr Aguero?

We need a new coach/manager, Florian.

Doesn't matter who we sign at all because Slot is a complete waste of space and will ruin the talent or completely disregard them.
Still can't get over his excuses. "Injuries" he is full of the brown stuff

Oh ok. That's for the higher ups to decide. But, with every day Arne is still in the job, I think the likelihood of him being sacked decreases significantly.

One day he will be sacked, so every passing day we are getting closer. How much closer, only time will tell. He's always shown that he's unwilling and/or unable to change the way we "play." He's taking the piss at this point and the club are allowing it.

Knowing Slot and Hughes, we will end up with Kenny Everett!

As long as we sack the manager first and foremost, we will be able to see clearly, cos only then will the dust clear, and only then we can make better decisions.
