1.) 28 Apr 2022 14:57:44
Fantastic news!
Over the moon about it 😁.

2.) 28 Apr 2022 15:32:40
I don't think my wife realises how important this is. Im walking around with biggest smile.

She called me a berk.

After 34 years i might have married a 'dud'

3.) 28 Apr 2022 16:59:20
What a great day to be a Liverpool fan 💪.

4.) 28 Apr 2022 17:07:24
Thank you Jurgen 😊.

5.) 28 Apr 2022 17:17:27
Apperently Mrs Klopp had a big say and told him he should stay longer. So thank you Mrs K!

6.) 28 Apr 2022 17:45:23
Should have signed him up to his 60th birthday.

7.) 28 Apr 2022 18:37:17
Ornstein is usually very reliable. Result.

8.) 28 Apr 2022 18:48:19
I can’t believe we are stuck with him for another few years. #overrated. I was hoping we’d get Rogers back in. Ah well.

9.) 28 Apr 2022 18:50:18
SOd Rogers, we need Woy back, when Watford go down. WARRAMMERR!

10.) 28 Apr 2022 19:31:15

So excited I decided to have a quick tom tank, and that's how I got banned from starbucks.

12.) 28 Apr 2022 20:45:33
Would this make klopp the best paid manager in the world?

13.) 28 Apr 2022 21:26:25
“but since I'm here it feels like every day we come together a little bit closer, we understand each other a little bit better, we appreciate each other a little bit more”.

I love my family and employ lots of people and I have never been lost for words of encouragement . Never have I read such pertinent words. What a leader

We love Jurgen.

14.) 28 Apr 2022 22:00:19
Fantastic news, 4 more years of brilliant attacking football 😎.

15.) 29 Apr 2022 12:00:50
Brilliant news and if I was a betting man, Salah would be next.

{Ed0666's Note - I get that feeling also mate. It’s kind of scary the feel good factor emanating out of the club at the moment I just hope it continues for an extremely long time. FSG are playing a blunder at the moment everything they touch is turning to gold.

16.) 29 Apr 2022 12:15:19
There needs to be a song for Klopp's wife at the next home match.

{Ed0666's Note - I fully support that motion

17.) 29 Apr 2022 16:45:53
"Mrs Klopp Mrs Klopp running down the wing". oh wait 😅.

21 Oct 2021 16:19:55
Hey eds,

Do we still hold interest in Harvey Barnes after he signed a new contract? He's not been playing much recently so maybe Leicester might be open to letting him go?

Babbity Rabbity

{Ed0666's Note - Why would we sign him after he’s just signed a contract? His price would have increased no?

1.) 21 Oct 2021 16:51:09
Yeah it feels like the Harvey Barnes door shut with him signing that new contract, at least for a few years. He is a very underrated and exciting player though and one that I hoped Liverpool would chase.

{Ed001's Note - in what way is he underrated? Surely you mean overrated?}

2.) 21 Oct 2021 18:35:22
Depends if Leicester are open to letting him go Ed. They seem to be flirting with playing two strikers up front and wing backs at the moment which he doesn't really fit into.

3.) 22 Oct 2021 10:40:33
Rumours are that Newcastle are going to go for him as an achievable big money signing.

{Ed002's Note - Newcastle have not made any approach for Barnes. A third party advising the club has spoken with a few clubs about player availability but they have not at this time, and the club need to make ttwo appointments before anything is firmed up over targets.}

4.) 22 Oct 2021 19:17:14
Cheers Ed. Top knowledge as always.

5.) 22 Oct 2021 20:08:11
I mean he is underrated because he doesn’t have a sexy Brazilian name. He is a 23 year old English talent who is a first teamer for Leicester. I think he doesn’t get anywhere near the recognition he deserves. I’m not sure he’s even had an England call up. If you think he’s overrated Ed 1, I personally disagree.

{Ed001's Note - the media constantly big him up.}

6.) 23 Oct 2021 01:00:13
The only Harvey that we need is called Elliott.

7.) 23 Oct 2021 08:29:31
We want players with minimal drop in quality from first team. Know that’s hard with mane and salah but Barnes is too big a drop. Also likely to be over priced as English and signed new contract.

8.) 23 Oct 2021 14:24:25
Spot on, Ed. Barnes is not as good as he is being made out to be and not sure why that would be surprising since we all know young English talents are overrated by the English media.

16 May 2022 04:55:03
Eds is something going on behind the scenes with Harvey Elliott? Before his injury he was a regular starter, then when he came back he played a few games but it seems he hasn't had a look in for quite a few weeks, not even coming off the bench. Curtis Jones seems to be ahead of him at the moment in the pecking order. I have read some rumours about off-the-field behaviour but I don't put much stock in them. However the situation does seem strange to me given how highly the club supposedly rate him, especially with our frequency of games recently. This complete lack of first-team football is surely not good for his development.

Babbity Rabbity

{Ed001's Note - he is coming back off a bad injury, it takes time mentally to get right. It took Falcao about 4 seasons to get anywhere near back to his best after he had time out. The lad just needs time to get back to his best mentally. It is so much more than just getting fit, you have to relearn a lot of stuff, like walking and running normally, as well as refinding your touch on the ball etc.}

1.) 16 May 2022 05:38:59
He’s also a just-turned-19 year-old kid playing in a squad full of seasoned champions; a minnow in amongst a sea of orcas. Even Trent, with all his talent, would have found it difficult to dislodge the starting RB of a team playing at such a level for so long. Realistically, only the RCM spot was even possibly available for him this season. Dislodge Salah/ Thiago for their positions? No chance.
Give him time, he’s a fantastic talent.

2.) 16 May 2022 05:40:32
He’s been named on the bench a few times which is something I doubt would happen if there were disciplinary issues.

3.) 16 May 2022 07:27:56
My hypothesis is that with the Salah contract situation there may even be a case for Harvey finding once again an RW position as his primary vs CM. With TM and DO leaving this season and Salah potentially around for only another season, Harvey could be seen as a successor there. And we might sign another seasoned pro for the innermid position.

{Ed0666's Note - whatever happened to young Harvey? Maybe he finds himself playing against Southampton??

4.) 16 May 2022 08:21:59
I rekon try and take a macro view of things, especially for a kid. Yes he was starting last year, but that doesn't mean he wads the top 3 midfielders in the club. Great talent, will have periods of game time and up and down with form, just like Jones. Bit like stocks, main thing is he is trending upwards!

{Ed0666's Note - let’s hope he’s not like crypto currency. All joking aside I agree he’s just started got another 15 years ahead of him.

5.) 16 May 2022 09:34:00
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

6.) 16 May 2022 11:56:38
OP, you're over-analysing this issue way too much. His off-field issues (I only heard one episode) are so 2018 or so. The kid is still learning the game and all the experience he is getting being part of things will only help him as he recovers from a bad injury.

Jones ahead of him? It's a squad game man. Earlier in the season, people on here were ready to drive Jones out to Villa when they were interested in him cos Elliott was doing well and the shiny new toy. It's football. Elliott is in good hands. Don't sweat it, bro. He'll be okay.

7.) 16 May 2022 16:35:26
You Elliott I think got his confidence shook in his last CL game where he looked lost and out of his depth, it being so soon after his return. I'm sure it shook him. JK has done the right thing and pulled him from any possible spotlight. He's one for the future.

04 May 2022 23:00:43
Real Madrid players already wearing shirts with 14 on. Could a team and their fans be any more entitled?

1.) 05 May 2022 09:18:08
OP, Klopp's pregame team talk is done, I guess.

06 Feb 2022 15:27:21
Just want to pay tribute to Minamino this season. I think he's been a brilliant spuad player this season and I hope we keep him in the summer. it's hard to find the right calibre of player who's willing to accept a squad role and not cost an arm and a leg in wages. There were some rumours we were willing to sell him in the transfer window but I really hope he stays in the summer.

Babbity Rabbity

{Ed0666's Note - I agree mate well said

1.) 06 Feb 2022 15:46:09
He has done exactly the job asked of him and looks to have exactly the tools needed to be a decent back up player in attack or up front against lesser sides or when winning and boys need a rest in games .

Would definitely keep him if he’s happy to fill that role.

{Ed0666's Note - I just wish he’d been used more from the start to see what he’s got in his kit bag. So happy for him getting on the scoresheet today.

2.) 06 Feb 2022 15:55:35
Man City have nearly a first team of squad players that play the "squad role" and their wage bill ain't that much bigger than ours.

3.) 06 Feb 2022 16:02:38
I know everyone loves to scream “motd fever” but anyone who watched him play for Salzburg vs us would have thought he has something special, and for 8 odd mill can't get much better at that price. Really want him to stay and keep improving but my gut tells me we will get a good offer in summer and accept, hope he can get a league cup win with us.

{Ed0666's Note - he’s given us 100% each time he’s played he goes with my blessing

4.) 06 Feb 2022 16:12:50
Irish Rover that's more down to the wages of players like Keita, Ox, Milner and Matip rather than Minamino. Our wage bill needs work but Minamino is an example of getting the balance right.

5.) 06 Feb 2022 16:27:34
Spot on Irish. Statue for Edwards then eh 😀.

6.) 06 Feb 2022 16:36:21
IR, I don’t recall us being funded by a sovereign nation with multiple 60m/ 70m pound players (and one 100m pound player at times) being happy with sitting on the bench. Do you?

Mino has never failed to give his best and has answered the call whenever he has been asked him. He has scored 8 goals in all comps and approaching double digits in goals scored. I love him and if he stayed, I got no issues. If he left, I will thank him for all he has done and wish him the best. Hopefully, with a winners medal.

7.) 06 Feb 2022 16:38:31
I must watch a different player, seems a nice lad but being nice in no way makes up for him being not good enough for this squad. He now has 5 players of a higher calibre agead of him and by next season young Gordon will surpass him aswell. How many players do we want to keep around to fill 3 positions? especially as Ox, Jones and Elliott are all capable of playing outwide. Like all this nonsence of keeping Phillips around as a FIFTH centrehalf, waste of wages.

8.) 06 Feb 2022 16:48:16
For what we paid for him, I think Taki has certainly provided more than enough value for monies paid. And he clicks most of the boxes for being a Klopp type player. He's improved for us this year; if we win the League Cup then he and Kelleher deserve praise for it.

I hope he stays after the summer too. Perfect backup and squad player, and he has that instinctive sense of where the goal is. Especially if Divock leaves.

9.) 06 Feb 2022 17:43:47
Tsimikas cost us almost double what we paid for Robbo 🤣.

Mental how we got them pair for 20 mil.

Great bit of business.

10.) 06 Feb 2022 17:47:23
it's hard to find the right calibre of player who's willing to accept a squad role and not cost an arm and a leg in wages.

This is what the OP said. The fact is Man City have a back up of nearly 11 first team "right calibre" players willing to accept the squad role and the wages not much more than ours.

Transfer fees weren't in the discussion.

11.) 06 Feb 2022 18:32:34
Just my opinion but I don’t rate him again seems a top lad but that’s not enough!

03 Nov 2021 14:44:11
Bit of a strange one from SPORTBild claiming that Michael Edwards is off to RB Leipzig.

Doesn't really make sense to me to be honest as they seem to have settled in the tier of clubs just below us in recent years and have become a feeder club to the elite clubs of Europe.

Babbity Rabbity

1.) 03 Nov 2021 14:59:53
Well I guess there are a lot of factors, it might be better paid, better lifestyle or quality of life, maybe the project they have just interests him more.
With a job like that I'm sure it's about more than just joining a bigger team.

2.) 03 Nov 2021 16:28:22
Seems a perfect fit for him to me? They like to buy cheap and sell big so I would think that would be up his street.

3.) 03 Nov 2021 16:53:07
It is a very good job for him, IMO. RBL are improving and their profile in terms of buying developing young talents and improving them to be sold, fits his ethos.

They picked up Konate as a youngster at Sochaux in France and at 17/ 18, he was already playing first team footie with another in a young Dayot Upamecano. Neither of them play for RBL anymore and got sold for big money compared with where they got them.

4.) 03 Nov 2021 17:29:32
Very similar to Dortmund which has developed a reputation (in the last 4-5 years) for being a "youngster centric" team that develops talent and then also sells for good profits.

I could be wrong but didn't Ed002 say that his departure was not final and that there were still ongoing discussions between Edwards and the club?

12 Aug 2021 19:37:33
Honestly I don't see us signing a new midfielder this summer. We have Thaigo, Fabinho, Henderson, Milner, Keita, Ox, Jones and now apparently Elliott all competing for 3 positions. That's 8 for 3 so that's more than enough.

I think we will try to sign a winger if we can sell Shaqiri and Origi especially with Mane and Salah going to Afcon. I think it will be someone who has long-term potential to compete for a starting position. I am not sure where that leaves Bowen: does he have that potential? I read an article in Goal recently that said we hold interest in Harvey Barnes and Pedro Neto. I think they both have that potential but I am not sure how likely they will be with their recent injuries. I am sure Neto would be open to leaving Wolves but I suspect Barnes would be harder to prize away from Leicester.

I wonder what the situation with Pulisic is at Chelsea. I know we did have long-term interest but the price Dortmund were charging was too much for us at the time for someone who was not going to be a starter. Now Chelsea have Lukaku who will be a guaranteed starter, they will have Pulisic, Havertz, Mount, Werner, Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi all competing for for the two other attacking roles in their team which is too many players of high quality. Surely they will sell at least one of them? I heard that they were trying to get Pulisic to cover at wing back which he is not happy about. Could he be of interest to us this summer?

Babbity Rabbity

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 12 Aug 2021 20:03:55
Thank god not what we need.

2.) 12 Aug 2021 20:05:55
Pedro Neto would be interesting. He still qualifies as U21 (he didn't turn 21 until Mar 21 and the rule is for the player to have been under 21 by 31 Dec of the previous season, which he was) .

It's unfortunate that he didn't join Wolves early enough to qualify as HG, but he was 19 when he arrived from Braga.

{Ed002's Note - A shrewd choice. Will he wit in the wheelchair section?

3.) 12 Aug 2021 20:06:53
Ah, just realised Neto is injured until Christmas! Probably not ideal!

4.) 12 Aug 2021 20:13:44
Lol, I posted a follow up to this post, Ed002 when I realised he was injured! I would imagine he could get some speed up and down the wings in a wheelchair, but I doubt his crossing will be up to much!

Cheers Ed. It sounded like something unprecedented to me unless it was something similar to the option Chelsea had on Lazar Markovic at Benfica but I think they were involved with him when he was at Partizan Belgrade.

Ed I read a report in The Mirror that claimed we have a first-refusal agreement with Porto for Fabio Viera for €12m which was negotiated as part of the Luis Diaz deal. It seems rubbish to me, I'm guessing you will confirm that it is?

Babbity Rabbity

{Ed002's Note - I don't know how that would work as his contract will have needed to change. It then iopens up a potential breach of the rules with having third party influence.}

I don't think you can call it idle gossip. He very clearly told a teammate everything he did was "s***" during a game. Former players have talked about his influence in the dressing room, his own manager has had to publicly speak about it. I think it's more than tabloid rumours.

Realistically we weren't going to claw back that goal difference. Before today, the most likely way of us winning the league was if City dropped points in their 2 remaining games. Now we need Stevie to do us a favour and get a draw at the Etihad.
