Regarding Diomande, ... it could be a scenario where PSG have promised they'll match Liverpool's wage offer and contract, but won't pay the transfer fee that RBL are demanding. So RBL won't sell for a lower offer than Liverpool's and would be happy to keep him either way.

Diomande seems very ambitious, and there's nothing wrong with that, but do worry if he does join us that he will see us as a stepping stone. We may have a situation in a few years where he is refusing to sign a new contract to join Real or PSG.

It's also clear why any player would want to join PSG at the moment after them winning 2 Champs Leagues in a row, having unlimited resources and Enrique managing them. We will see what happens, but it's not the end of the world either way.

Well, just a while back there were news about him agreeing personal terms with us, only the transfer fee part was the problem. Suddenly, he wants PSG. But I do trust Robbo and Carra. If the deal doesn't happen, it will be because of the player's preference and not because of the lack of effort on our end.

I'm pretty sure we can survive without him if he chooses not to join us. Iraola did not have such players at Bournemouth and did quite well. So, I'm sure he will be alright with whatever players he will end up with.

The easy route would have been to say nothing, but neither seemed to care about being ITK, just passing on what they heard. There is a lot of noise, seemingly stemming from Ornstein, but what if the information he was fed was incorrect. Wouldn't be the first and won't be the last.

I have been told we came to an agreement with RBL, the problem currently is how it's being paid.

I've been made aware that people are hyping the PSG " agreement " to force Liverpool into paying more of a down-payment, and less instalments.

The structure of the payment is why people should stop getting hung up on the transfer fee.

It wouldn't surprise me if we've offered £20m up front and 4 yearly installments of £20m, and RBL want something closer to £40m up front and 3 yearly installments of £20m. Looks better for them.

The team lacked a physical presence last season, and Diomande would help resolve that far more than Barcola would. Diomande also works hard and is willing to press and defend when needed.

Given the way the Premier League is at the moment, then another winger with similar attributes (Semenyo would have been perfect) for the other wing remains a requirement. If Gakpo was willing to work harder and use his size more, then he would not need to be replaced.

Let's hope that Iraola can work some magic with him.

Diomande had a breakout year last year, but wasn't so well known or regarded prior to that. Hopefully the recruitment team can identify the next up and coming stars that won't cost a fortune but have the potential to step up at Liverpool.

I rate Barcola and he obviously makes us better, but what made Diomande a must was the fact he is more comfortable on the right flank despite being right-footed. Potentially having Barcola, Gakpo, Rio, Munoz, and even Wirtz at times on the left would be odd. Of course they could all do bits on the right, but if you're forking out that cash, you'd want someone who actually wants and is more comfortable on the right.



For me now it has to be Rayan, who, like Diomande, there isn't a whole lot of data and I'm not sure how feasible the deal is.

My thoughts have been, for a while, that the price is too high for him. For me, he has world class potential, but he isn't world class. That was a risky fee to pay for such a short period playing at top level.



I've been on the fence a little, as I do think potential is big with him.

It seems to me that the boy doesn't know what he wants. Last week, he was a boyhood Liverpool fan whose father wanted him to play for Liverpool. The next day, the story was exactly the same except that PSG had replaced Liverpool. I just hope that Liverpool don't increase their offer but look elsewhere.

For Liverpool to have even bid for the lad, there must have been some encouragement from his camp; not saying a player can't change their mind, and we've been down this road before, so who knows, but I don't think this is final just because of what Ornstein has said.

Player opted for PSG and you can't really argue with that, guaranteed titles and 2 in a row in CL! Would have liked him at Liverpool, but at the fee being asked I'm not exactly gutted he isn't signing as it's an awful lot of money for a 19yo with little behind him.

Could well be a world beater, but could equally flop in the PL. Let's see who we switch our focus to!!

Horribly overpriced for somebody with one good season in the Bundesliga.

Would be the most risky transfer we've ever done.

I would genuinely prefer we spread the money over a couple of new signings.

I'm sure this sounds like sour grapes now, but I think quite a few of us feel the same way, and I've been nervous about the price being rumoured.



For that kind of money, I would expect a ready-made world beater to be coming in.

Plus, you can have a bid accepted, but the player chooses another club or to stay. It happened to us with Zubimendi. We had a bid accepted, he chose to stay.

Perhaps a fee was agreed with Leipzeg and Liverpool, and then the player pulled the plug and decided he wanted PSG when they came in for him. PSG had to move players on and get their ducks in order before making their move. Guess we may never know.

Onwards and upwards! Lad has great potential but £100+ fee for 1 season of potential is a heavy investment. Wirtz had been player of the season twice before his move. Isak had a clear track record - no guarantees but Diomande was a risk.
