Morning Ed’s and fellow reds… with potentially another injury to Robbo. Do we think it’s time to move on one if not two left backs and freshen up the area. And have we been looking or scouting anyone in particular? Obv if Xabi comes in Grimaldo would be first choice but is there anyone else we’ve been putting through the tests? Ta.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed002's Note - There has not been serious interest shown in LBs but Grimaldo will not be joining.}

1.) 27 Mar 2024 10:28:33
I expect Luke Chambers will get the opportunity to impress in pre-season. He seems to be doing well on loan at Wigan.

Do people think he has Conor Bradley potential?

{Ed001's Note - no. Bradley is special.}

2.) 27 Mar 2024 10:47:14
Agree Ed001. His goal for NI yesterday was terrific.

I don't want to put pressure on the lad but there's a Stevie G vib about him. He too started out at RB from what I remember.

{Ed001's Note - totally different thing, Gerrard was always a midfielder who just filled in at right-back.}

3.) 27 Mar 2024 13:07:43
Bradley played further forward for NI yesterday. Took his goal really well, he doesn’t shirk out of challenges. this boy. He certainly isn’t Gerrard but there are similarities in his size, his body shape with a young Gerrard, he’s not afraid to shoot as we have seen already for LFC. I could certainly see him playing in midfield as long as he progresses on the right lines.

{Ed025's Note - i dont get the obsession with wanting to change players into different positions Irish, Trent and now Bradley are doing well where they are mate and there is nothing wrong with the midfield so i just dont get it myself..

4.) 27 Mar 2024 14:12:31
Ed025 if we find a terrific right back they suddenly have to play midfield instead of keeping brilliant players in alternative positions.

{Ed025's Note - it seems that way MIZER, i just hope Alisson doesn,t start spraying balls around in training mate.. :)

5.) 27 Mar 2024 14:14:47
Why was Robbo playing in a friendly knowing what is at stake with LFC or why did he just play 20 mins.

6.) 27 Mar 2024 17:43:24
Strangely enough Mizer most people would say we have had a great RB in Trent who you seem to criticise on every given occasion.

7.) 27 Mar 2024 19:09:52
Big summer for Chambers though, might not be a bradley but is a very good young player in his own right.

8.) 27 Mar 2024 20:41:56
@Iwill because the Scottish manager wanted hi to play, because Robbo wanted to captain / play for his country and because neither of them, or you, or me couldn’t know that he was going to be injured. Unlike us not everybody thinks that LFC is the be all or end all.

9.) 27 Mar 2024 20:58:54
Chambers looked a mile off it from what I seen of him this season in his few games for 1st team.
That's not to say he won't improve and make it with us, by all accounts he v highly rated but he will definitely need to show a massive improvement.

10.) 27 Mar 2024 21:20:15
Trent was also always a midfielder. Only difference is he's been filling in at RB for a few years now.

11.) 27 Mar 2024 22:17:12
Nearly 8 years West, and he only played midfield up to u18's. a huge ask to even expect him to get a game for us. Whos place woUld he take in our side? and that's before we buy any more midfielders this summer.

12.) 28 Mar 2024 00:00:54
Owen Beck might be ahead of Luke Chambers. Did well on loan at Dundee!

Actually, it is quite possible the LB role will change with a new coach preferring a LCB/ LWB combination.

Inacio/ Hincapie for LCB and Ait-Nouri for LWB have been mentioned a few times as options.

13.) 28 Mar 2024 00:02:29
Given we employ an inverted RB, whoever plays there needs to be comfortable in midfield as well. Not too many players have the skillset for the position.

Trent's such a good passer. Personally I would unshackle him from RB duties and concentrate on being a play maker.

14.) 28 Mar 2024 01:10:18
That's why I think we have to many midfielders Nkunku. TBH I'm not sure I would drop Bradley for Trent purely with the RB position in mind. Not saying he's not a good RB, he's proven he is. But in my humble opinion, even with how good he's been, he could do so much better in midfield. His talent is such that I think it would be a travesty to not try. I'v said it hundreds of times but I think he should be on the right of the midfield 3. He can dictate the game more, still get wide and cross the ball, let Connor go wide past him and Trent can cover etc. Whether it happens or not I'm dying on this hill.

15.) 28 Mar 2024 06:41:43
Agree with nearly all that West, i love trent and he is supremely talented. but the reality is that all we've seen of trent in the middle so far is as a FREE man, how would he do without that luxury? would teams target him? would he be better than dom, curtis or harvey? id love him to be brilliant there i just have my doubts.

16.) 28 Mar 2024 08:45:04
West derby if you run on to a football pitch, fella there is a 50/ 50 chance you will get injured and who pays robbos wages, scotland or Liverpool. listen i am of scots decent, but i would still of wanted robbo on the bench and only come on if needed mate.

28 Feb 2024 07:37:46
Morning Ed’s and fellow reds. One paper this morning saying Bayern are interested in Robbo. Probably BS, but I wondered are we keeping a eye on any potential LB’s or had we been before klopps announcement. Many thanks have a good day.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of at this time.}

1.) 28 Feb 2024 11:03:58
Robbo has been a legend for us but - putting sentiment to one side - he's 30 in a few days, if BM offer us a decent fee for him then I'd take it. I've been impressed with Gomez playing LB and we have Tsimikas as well. Players are transient.

2.) 28 Feb 2024 11:47:03
So would you get rid of VVD or Ali or Mo then @Johnnyr? Virg is 33 in July and Ali 32 in October? I was reading yesterday that VVD should be offered a new 2 year contract. Mo is 32 in June and until he got injured at AFCON was playing some top stuff.

If you want to get rid if a Robbo, just s.

3.) 28 Feb 2024 11:58:28
Neither Tsimikas or Joe offer what Robbo does. Robbo is an all-round safer pair of hands than either, is a far more reliable attacking threat, better crossing and dead-ball delivery, loads of experience, national team captain, Leadership for the youngsters. And has a classic terrace song! I'd hope Andy Robertson is going nowhere (and I'd doubt he wants to move anyway) .

4.) 28 Feb 2024 12:33:02
Nah Robbo plays like a madman, always emotional with the press and gets caught out of position leaving us exposed at the back. Happens so many times a game it’s unreal. Great energy and desire but if we continue to play Trent right back I’d prefer a more defensively minded left back to accommodate rather than leaving us exposed down both flanks. Virgil not got the pace to be a one man wall anymore.

5.) 28 Feb 2024 12:37:18
Why is the subject of players (potentially) leaving so emotive. Did I not say that Robbo has been a legend for the club? Every player has a price, it's called being realistic. The discussion isn't about Mo, VVD or Alison so why bring them up? Jeez.

6.) 28 Feb 2024 12:58:31
Been a successful madman though, one that just about any team in europe would want.

7.) 28 Feb 2024 18:40:14
Hit the enter key too soon, the last ‘s’ is code for ‘say so, don’t hide it behind age, which is just a number’.

8.) 28 Feb 2024 22:54:51
Yeh love him Jude and it was all well and good him playing like that when Virg was at his peak but given Trent is a liability on the other side defensively we can’t have two fullbacks bombing on all the time. Maybe as he gets older he will press less and hold his position at bar like Walker does for City.

9.) 01 Mar 2024 03:48:56
The amount of times robbo backed off a Chelsea player and allowed them to get a cross in was unreal, instead of targeting Bradley or Gomez at RB, they targeted robbo and got most of their joy down the left.

16 Jan 2024 17:49:53
Evening Ed’s. Any interest in Jonathon Rowe of Norwich? Looks a real talent, reminds me of Suarez a little scoring all sorts of goals and the use of the outside of his boot. Looks like he could play anywhere on the front line. Cheers.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool but elsewhere in the PL.}

1.) 16 Jan 2024 20:41:46
Have seem him live a few times and definitely got the talent to make it to the top just needs the right manager.

31 May 2022 20:26:08
“I always know about my situation after the season; I don’t want to be involved in it at all during the season. But I have been informed that Liverpool were following me closely.

Danjuma.

Letstalkabout6baby

1.) 31 May 2022 20:38:04
Apparently as far back as when he was at Bournemouth.

I've not seen enough tbf.

2.) 31 May 2022 20:52:13
Mediocre would be a very generous description. Hard pass.

3.) 31 May 2022 20:54:40
Talking of Bournemouth above, anyone remember when Eddie Howe took "Two Puddings" off Jurgens hands, Jordan Ibe 16 Million, Dominic Solanke 19 Million, if i was a Geordie i would be quaking in my boots.

4.) 31 May 2022 21:07:44
I think Danjuma could be a shrewd addition. Seen him a few times at Bournemouth and was impressed.

5.) 31 May 2022 21:15:46
Brad Smith for £6 million too, 007! Madness.

I think Solanke has kicked on a bit for them now and he's still quite young.

6.) 31 May 2022 21:50:04
Can’t say I have noticed him where he’s played against us. Did well in first leg against but they all played well in my opinion. He wasn’t anything special in the second leg.

7.) 31 May 2022 23:31:32
The first leg? At anfield?

I don’t think he even touched the ball did he?

{Ed002's Note - ------------Wrong page - this is the Liverpool page-----

1.) 08 Feb 2022 15:24:33
Anyone interested in the last remaining choccies from the Xmas Quality Street box? It's only the orange creams and strawberry creams.

They say they are chocolates, but they taste like sheep!

2.) 08 Feb 2022 17:22:05
I suggested he could maybe replace kelleher if he was to leave for first team football. or did my post not send correctly.

3.) 08 Feb 2022 17:50:21
How do sheep taste?

Wouldn't ewe like to know!

Yes I would, that's why I'm asking what sheep taste like?

Baaaaaaaaaaad!

4.) 08 Feb 2022 17:53:25
I'll take those.

5.) 08 Feb 2022 19:36:16
That’s quality Zed 😃.

6.) 08 Feb 2022 20:46:10
The quality streets always left in my house are toffee coins!

7.) 08 Feb 2022 23:39:16
Zed is a legend!

8.) 08 Feb 2022 21:06:41
We should arrange an exchange, Adam, the toffee pennies are amongst the first to go Chez Zed!

Maybe we could start a Saturday Sweet Swap Shop!?

(Anyone who gets the reference is showing their age and Ed025 is showing that his home help used to describe it to him in the care home…😉😂)

9.) 09 Feb 2022 17:19:56
The green traingles in ours, or as my 11 year old daughter calls them, "Illuminati Chocolates"

10.) 09 Feb 2022 18:07:26
Zed stop licking sheep.

11.) 09 Feb 2022 20:54:22
I much preferred Tiswas. Sally James in those tight jeans.

12.) 10 Feb 2022 09:54:58
Polecat, not the first time I have heard those words, my friend. It's an sickness :- (

Green triangles also highly prized Chez Zed, along with the purple hazelnut in caramel and the blue coconut ones :)

Flash, Sally James, there's a very pleasant blast from the past! She's Ed025's granddaughter isn't she?!

Morning Ed’s. Big game to day hope everyone enjoys it and stays safe. I’ll be taking flight at 3:40pm today to Dublin from sunny Cornwall ??‍♂️ Totally ballsed that one up. But I was hoping one of the Ed’s could tell us something about Richard Hughes? History, achievements, what’s to be expected from him etc? Thanks guys have a good day! YNWA 2-1.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed001's Note - all I know he was a lower league player. It is difficult to discern what he has been involved with at Bournemouth.}

1.) 10 Mar 2024 09:15:19
I think I'd give the flight a miss letstalk!

2.) 10 Mar 2024 09:30:51
Thanks Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 10 Mar 2024 10:28:12
feels like a cup final today. Got the lucky socks on! :-) )

4.) 10 Mar 2024 12:39:12
Richard Hughes had several good seasons at Pompey under Harry. Played in the Prem and against AC Milan at Fratton Park up against Gattuso so has some top flight experience.

As a player I recall a no nonsense, honest denfensive midfielder. Certainly never let anyone down but not the most creative. To me Pompey always looked solid with him in the middle and you knew you’d get 100%.

I’m not sure of his achievements since hanging up his boots but I would imagine he’d be well respected. He didn’t seem the type to suffer fools.

5.) 10 Mar 2024 13:08:50
Cheers PR.

31 Oct 2021 23:09:57
I have motd fever and I think Raphina is the future! Sign him up!

Letstalkabout6baby

1.) 01 Nov 2021 08:57:17
I think he’s a quality player but unless Salah (Jota mane firmino too) leaves I can’t see us signing Raphina or any other good quality forwards.

We definitely need 2-3 good quality signings though I’ve been saying for a while that we need 2 CM’s and I fully stand by that, we need a younger model of Hendo and a player capable of replacing Gini’s consistency and availability. I’d love Bellingham and that youngster from Monaco.

And a forward, I’d love for us to add chiesa but as pointed out before it’s not going to happen unless sales are made.

We have a very good squad of players but it is evident that the squad is ageing and good talented youngsters need to be added.

2.) 01 Nov 2021 09:25:33
Raphinha is 27 and would cost a bomb.
where is this £200 mill to sign 2 CM and an attacker Moreton? what has miraculously changed from summer?

3.) 01 Nov 2021 09:56:59
I never said 200 million was needed to improve the squad to sign the players I’d love to sign then yes 200 million probably would be needed. Cheaper and more realistic transfers will likely happen.
But we have an ageing squad and people are showing signs of slowing up a little bit (can you not see that? ) and that’s not me saying I think we have a rubbish team because we don’t we have one of the best teams in football. But we need to sign a couple of good quality youngsters to bed them in with current crop of top class players otherwise we’ll end up signing players and they’ll get rushed into the team.
If we can sign players like adeyimi, gravenberch who wouldn’t cost a bomb they can be bedded in and learn over the course of next season and then they’ll be ready to play regular football.
Considering we haven’t exactly made many signings recently (due to the quality of our squad and our finances) we have probably fallen behind a little bit.
Of course signing players isn’t always the solution but we do definitely need a couple of signings simple as that.

4.) 01 Nov 2021 10:40:55
The coaching staff and management can easily see what is needed and what is required. I bet you Klopp has said it more than once. But it should be clear what the club is doing; it's a transition in phases. So no point in harping ad nauseum about needing 3-4 players, otherwise Klopp and FSG are incompetent and need to move on. First phase was to solidify the contracts of the players that the club wants to keep to play in the next generation. That first phase is almost complete with one or two players still pending. I bet you'll see the second phase in the summer with one of Matip or Gomez moving on, two (minimum) out of Milner, Ox and Keita moving on and at least one out of Origi and Minamino moving on. Maybe even more; and the positions will be replaced, if they haven't been already. That's their plan, and they've even said so through their actions. Running a club is not just about today's performance on the field. And if limited finances forces you to do it in phases then that's how you do it.

5.) 01 Nov 2021 11:35:08
We need bissouma in Jan.

6.) 01 Nov 2021 11:44:15
I am in complete agreement in wanting two or even more players Moreton Red. My question remains where do you see the cash coming in. It's been reported that unless we don't raise the cash we aren't signing anyone. And this is not helped when you start giving contracts to players over 30 for sentimental reasons.
Henderson cost us £20 mill 10 years ago and a younger version of Henderson plus English tax will cost you £70 mill today.

7.) 01 Nov 2021 12:06:27
Raphina is 24, he’d be a great addition. Know it’s not likely but the guy has serious talent and good work ethic too.

8.) 01 Nov 2021 12:15:54
Speak way too much sense, ArAy1969. Brilliant post and I agree completely.

9.) 01 Nov 2021 12:17:07
My dream is Bellingham who would cost upwards of 80 million. So a cheaper alternative is gravenberch who would be a fraction of the price probably around 30 million, he’d be capable of replacing Ox (15 million) surely the club has 15 million to add to the fee.
Then we could add adeyimi as a forward option who would likely command a fee of around 25-30 million he could replace Origi and/ or Taki whose sales woul near enough cover that.
I’m probably way out with the pricing but think it’s doable to bring them 2 in.
Then if we could add say kessie on a free then that’s good business and done at a reasonable price and we’ve improved the squad.

I’m aware of the financial struggles we have but if other teams are able to spend surely we’re more than capable of adding a couple of 30 million players even if we have to raise some of the funds through sales.

10.) 02 Nov 2021 17:52:25
Thanks OliRed🙏🏽.

18 Sep 2021 05:15:50
What would people’s thoughts be on Liverpool singing Saint-Maximin? He’s obv very dangerous and in the right team 🤷🏻‍♂️ YNWA.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed001's Note - can you hum a few lines as I don't recognise the song....}

1.) 18 Sep 2021 06:58:09
You hum it I’ll play it
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I would have said that, but I couldn't play a note on any instrument!}

2.) 18 Sep 2021 07:36:38
Good player gives it his all just his injury record ain’t great! Battered Leeds last nite.

{Ed001's Note - is this the lyrics to the song?}

3.) 18 Sep 2021 07:42:58
Looks a Talented player but staying fit has been an issue for him in recent seasons. If he stays fit this season then I’d expect a few clubs to look at him next summer. I doubt Ashley would accept £5 a month instalments off us over 40 years though.

{Ed001's Note - he has incredible talent but he has no brains and usually just ends up giving the ball away. Add that to his horrible injury record, he is almost constantly injured even when playing, he has dodgy hamstrings, there would be no sense to signing him. He is completely unreliable.}

4.) 18 Sep 2021 08:11:45
Seems like Adama Traore the 2nd.

{Ed001's Note - more skilful but slightly slower, similar end product though.}

5.) 18 Sep 2021 08:33:56
Sign them both? Imagine the pace of our breakaway? That would awesome. 🎣.

6.) 18 Sep 2021 10:08:04
He’s a much better player than Traore imo and does actually bring a lot to that Newcastle side, but he isn’t good enough for us.

7.) 18 Sep 2021 10:19:32
He'd be one of them, wouldn't hardly get played for us, he's impressed me a couple of times from what I've seen but I don't think he's good enough for Liverpool. We're at another level nowadays, gone are the days of the Rodgers kind of signings.

8.) 18 Sep 2021 11:31:17
Salah he’s be even better with us again just can’t keep fit.

9.) 18 Sep 2021 11:31:45
On the flip side, how good is Raphinha? Blows me away every time i watch him and Leeds looked utterly toothless once he left the pitch last night. On the off chance that Salah does leave we should look no further than him.

10.) 18 Sep 2021 12:00:53
He looks good but always loses the ball. If there was a goal at the end of each run then he would be amazing.

11.) 18 Sep 2021 13:59:30
Haha I must have missed the typo this morning at 5:15am.

12 Sep 2021 15:54:05
Klopp "We knew it (Salah and Mane’s absences) . We have to deal with it and we will deal with it. How? We will see in January. ”

Straight from the horses mouth!

A forward could be on the cards in January?

Good luck today lads! Should be a fast exciting game! YNWA.

Letstalkabout6baby

1.) 12 Sep 2021 17:27:18
He's dealing with it now. Elliot is being integrated on a weekly basis.

2.) 12 Sep 2021 17:32:15
Elliot plays midfield, not as an attacker. I think we will get that Adeyemi kid from Salzburg.

3.) 12 Sep 2021 17:55:31
Damn, hope Elliot is alright!

4.) 12 Sep 2021 18:13:19
I think that injury today may force us into doing something perhaps, however it is only 2 PL games so I’m sure we’ll survive!

5.) 12 Sep 2021 18:36:29
Shocking challenge. That was bound to happen after the violent stuff that refs have been allowing to go on against the lad. Neville saying it wasn’t red was nonsensical, it’s literally a challenge so wildly out of control it resulted in a broken leg. Poor kid, hope he comes back stronger.

09 Aug 2021 21:17:38
I’m not hating on our player and I will back him 100%, but I don’t think Neco is good enough to be our back up RB. No where near the quality of Tsimkas. I think he needs replacing?

Letstalkabout6baby

1.) 09 Aug 2021 21:33:15
Can milner not play there.

2.) 09 Aug 2021 21:34:20
Yeah totally agree - great bloke but at the age of what, 19, 20 his best years are probably long gone. When will the club realise that it is vital that the young back-up players coming up through the ranks and learning to adapt to the Premier League and challenge for a spot must be absolute world beaters @nd the finished product by the time they are 12.

3.) 09 Aug 2021 21:50:57
Or we can support the kid and help him improve instead of giving up on him this early. Just a thought.

4.) 09 Aug 2021 21:56:51
Can Milner not play there🤣.

5.) 09 Aug 2021 22:06:35
I don't think the OP was bitchy with his post, I like Neco and he'd certainly do a job as cover but I do think he could probably do with a loan for some proper game time.
Wouldn't have a problem bringing an older milner-esque type RB with some experience to come into that role.

6.) 09 Aug 2021 23:52:01
I think people should just accept the fact that Neco Williams is simply not good enough. He has shown nothing to suggest otherwise unlike other players like Curtis Jones, Owen Beck or Harvey Elliot.

7.) 10 Aug 2021 05:46:14
You haven’t see Beck play in a competitive game and already he has made the grade has he? Sort of reminds me of a young lad who made his debut at 17 a couple of years ago although for the life of me I can’t remember his name ….

Williams has every chance to make the grade - especially if some of the ‘fans’ get off his back.

8.) 10 Aug 2021 06:56:35
Totally agree with maximosa! Get a experienced full back in and get Neco out on loan in the premiership if possible.

9.) 10 Aug 2021 08:34:18
Bringing academy players through to even fill out the squad as back up is the only way were going to be able to compete. We are not going to be able to have a squad of 25 superstars, and 2 be honest we don't need that anyway.

10.) 10 Aug 2021 08:45:09
If the replacement can't play multiple positions then hardly nobody who is better than Neco would be willing to sign with Trent such a nailed starter.

Neco is fine backup for Trent. We also have others who could cover RB.

11.) 10 Aug 2021 10:10:09
We have TAA, Williams, Gomez, Robinson, Tsimikas, Milner and at a push Fabs and all are who can cover the fullback positions along with Beck and Bradley as the next candidates from the Academy set up - I’m not 100% certainly that a back up fullback is a priority to be honest.

12.) 10 Aug 2021 10:15:18
He is a young man still developing and learning all the time no one ever really expected the world from him he looks great in flashes if he can cut the silly errors out he can do a job for the team if needed. He in no way deserves all the criticism he gets of people let’s get behind him instead of writing him off already.

Can’t believe you missed the Alvarez ‘transfer’ 002 😬😂.

Letstalkabout6baby

{Ed002's Note - I didn't miss it - thiose are the players Liverpool should be looking at but afterer signing Kounde and Mbappe the money might be limited.}

Haha I was hoping for a slightly bigger player than Bowen but I do still rate him.

{Ed025's Note - hes decent actually, and he could give you that push towards your goal of a top 4 finish.. :)

I’ve only skimmed through the above replies so apologies if someone has already mentioned it, but I’m pretty sure one of the other Var officials was the lino with the greek name ??‍♂️ Who threw his elbow up at Robbo last season….

Stuie your best bet is The Golden Lion in St. Ives I live there and have watched most the big games there recently. I’ll be up In Liverpool this weekend in the Sefton park fan zone. Hope you have a good night 🤙.

{Ed002's Note - I have a home in Cornwall and there are no Liverpool themed pubs where I live - there is only one pub in the village actually.}
