Any news on a new CB Konate definitely going imo.

Chrisymate

1.) 14 Jun 2025 18:53:49
And what makes you think that? He just posted on social media that the team need the fans to be in full voice next year.

2.) 14 Jun 2025 18:59:33
Chrisymate give it a rest.

3.) 14 Jun 2025 18:59:34
Konate is staying. Hopefully it’s Quantsee who is off.

4.) 14 Jun 2025 19:14:04
Need to keep ibou and get in another cb.

5.) 14 Jun 2025 21:00:06
Hope we keep all our CBs tbh and get a young up and coming one in this window to learn from Virg.

6.) 14 Jun 2025 21:04:39
Konate will be signing a contract extension at LFC.

7.) 14 Jun 2025 22:50:23
@Skezza - we already have Naldo for the up and coming spot, or so I thoight.

8.) 14 Jun 2025 23:16:28
WDW4 - where’s Naldo?

9.) 15 Jun 2025 03:40:15
Whoopsie Nallo I thought he was our version of the next big thing?

10.) 15 Jun 2025 10:09:59
It is possible that Konate is here next season and then leaves.

Why don't we give Diaz a new deal at a wage he deserves?

Players will always have family ( dad/ brother) blowing smoke. telling them where they can get more money!

Think about what this lad does for us! He never stops running, he gets back and defends, he can keep a defence guessing ( and his team mates) he has energy to burn. He should be kept. Give him the money and contract he deserves now. if next year he wants to move, the money won't be that much less than it is now. He maybe worth even more! This obsession with age of players is daft. Certain players just go on well into their 30s. Salah shows no signs of slowing down IMO.
We can NOT make too many changes.

Loosing Jota is a massive shock. this will have a big effect on the squad as a whole. I feel now is the time to consolidate. Nunez will get some good money in, and sad to say if Elliot is definitely not going to get the chance, he too will bring in good money.

With Wirtz to unlock low blocking teams at Anfield we have a great chance. But team spirt is everything. YNWA.

1.) 12 Jul 2025 13:33:47
Diaz is on the same or similar wage to a lot of our first teamers - Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravy, Nunez, Gakpo.

How much more should he get?

Also we have no idea of the discussions that have gone on. Who knows where the impasse is, but I certainly trust the club.

2.) 12 Jul 2025 13:45:00
I would keep diaz as well chris, I think he is an excellent player for all the reasons u have named. I don't think he will be easily replaced.
The other side of argument is we don't know how much money he is looking.

3.) 12 Jul 2025 14:15:39
I’m starting to think it might be a case of keeping Diaz and Nunez for another season and see where we are next year especially after the awful jota news, diogo was so valuable in terms of his ability to play anywhere across the front three so I think we stick with what we’ve got, Elliot and chiesa included and sign a centre back as well as try and introduce rio and maybe another.

4.) 12 Jul 2025 15:07:31
Diaz final ball is the only thing that makes me reluctant about offering him a payrise. No question he can beat a man, as well as tireless in attack and defence but is he worth more per week than McAllister and Gravenberch?

5.) 12 Jul 2025 15:45:22
If it was only that simple. He wants to leave, we won't offer the wage he feels he deserves. He's on as good a wage as some other first teamers, so all this he's paid less is balls and a way to try and engineer a move imo.

Do you think he is worth paying £250k+ p/ w? As I imagine that is what he is asking for.

That being said. he's a quality player, so I can understand why the club are playing hardball.

6.) 12 Jul 2025 16:12:07
Maybe the club doesn’t want to, he has two years running. Perhaps the club are open to losing him and don’t want to tie him down on a long term contract at higher value when he will soon be 30. Say we extend his contract by another two years on 180k a week that is £8,600,000 a year over £32m during that duration…. what if his form drops, then he suddenly an expensive bench warmer. I reckon he stays this summer and we move him on next at a lower price c£15m. We can’t just bump up every bodies wages for the sake of it.

7.) 12 Jul 2025 16:19:57
Dear departed Ed002 used to tellus not to talk about finances and some of the posts on here saying Diaz is on £50,000 a week are utter boll***s.

8.) 12 Jul 2025 16:31:17
Do you actually think the club are reluctant to give Diaz a new contract based on the premise his form dips. If they use that as a barometer we would never give any players an extension.
Another thought during this window. With the volume of new players arriving there is going to be some difficult negotiations in 3/ 4/ 5 years time when all the current contracts are about to expire.

9.) 12 Jul 2025 18:03:29
Diaz is twenty eight and when h8s contract expires will be thirty. At that age there is a great chance he will of lost some of his speed which is what he depends on to beat his man. Maybe the powers that be, do not believe that he has the acumen to adapt his play in the same way as Salah has.

{Ed077's Note - you make it sound like Diaz is a speed merchant, which he isn't.

10.) 12 Jul 2025 18:19:01
Gaga…. no I think it is because he can be easily replaceable, you could argue we already have in Wirtz signing. Why give him a bumper contract, when the club clearly don’t feel he is worth it…. that was my point, and to highlight that in some instances the club saves money by not extending contracts and letting them run down…. however as I said I think he will be sold next summer.

11.) 12 Jul 2025 19:44:43
Diaz is a very good player, one of the best in the pl in his position. If you disagree name three who are better, both from the eye test and their stats. Liverpool know this, he is difficult to replace. If he wants to leave that is a problem, but you can’t make players stay, so we dig in. Pay his value or don’t, they are clearly willing to risk a free transfer and is it such a bad idea in the era of PSR? I don’t think it is, I think PSR turns the old thinking on its head. Let players run down contracts if there isn’t a suitable target, bank the allowance and wait for the right player. It feels counterintuitive, but say we sell Diaz for 60m and buy a Gordon for the same money, but probably higher wages. Is Gordon significantly better than Diaz, no, does he have a higher ceiling, maybe. The only real advantage is the financial asset of the player, but if we don’t win things is that worth the trade off? I’m not so sure…I think th3 market is changing and our owners know it and are acting accordingly.

12.) 12 Jul 2025 21:34:54
Man of Todd
How do we save money if he leaves for free in two years time. He then needs replacing with a significant fee and possibly a higher salary. Or because we now have Wirtz we don’t need a replacement.

13.) 12 Jul 2025 22:58:57
Diaz is significantly better than Gordon.

14.) 13 Jul 2025 00:56:23
Gaga3 because he doesn’t need replacing so the money we save on the wage bill could be used for someone else. My point is if Diaz left, lw is still a position of strength with Gakpo and wirtz…. why tie him down in bumper wages when he is not a key/ irreplaceable player and soon entering his 30s, we don’t want to be stuck with someone we can’t get rid off.
I rate diaz and want him to stay this summer, but I wouldn’t be looking to give him a bumper contract either as I think the team will be fine without him.

15.) 13 Jul 2025 05:52:34
regardless of what Diaz is on, there is no reason to extend him now.

If he was a Mo Salah level type of player then I could see the rationale to tie him down. But even then, we didn't extend Mo until the 11th hour pretty much for all his extensions.

If the player is upset two years out from end of contract then that is really on them to manage, of which they have options. push for a move or just suck it up.

16.) 13 Jul 2025 15:23:27
I think the club is fine with either keeping Diaz or selling him this summer should the offer they want arrive. And if that is the case, so am I.

11 Jul 2025 18:46:15
Hi Ed001

I'm interested in your view of our defence, even if we sign Palace lad I feel we will need more. I would love to see Gomez stay fit and win his place back as first backup, clearly very unlikely. Would you allow Konate to run down his contract? Or get the best deal for him.

Re the forward line, letting Diaz go is a mistake for me. The disruption he creates is what often sets our tempo, his energy is amazing and I feel he's worth a pay rise and a fresh 3 year deal. With a big buyout fee attached. Most people would be happy imho. Elliott should get at least 1 more year with a good run of game time. During the u21 comp he ended up arriving onto the ball through the middle. I felt it suited him well. It worries me! With DJ20 sadly gone I'd like to keep as many core players. We need that spirit to stay, who knows how this tragic event will affect the boys. Thanks mate. Sorry for the long message. YNWA.

Chrisymate

{Ed001's Note - I would look to replace Konate, Guehi would not be my choice to do it though. We aren't going to go for him, so no point me worrying about jinxing it any longer, so I can say my choice would be Push Pineapple at Wolves as Konate's replacement.}

1.) 11 Jul 2025 19:36:32
Push Pinapple is a quality player!

2.) 11 Jul 2025 20:00:40
I'm confused Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - Google push pineapple shake a tree and marvel at the terrible nature of 80s music, but then you will understand.}

3.) 11 Jul 2025 20:11:34
That guy is 28 or something Ed I’m pretty sure you agree he’d never even likely be looked at by the data guys given his age and top level experience, to replace konate with him would seem very unlikely. I know you’ve said you’d like him rather than you think the club like him but it just seems a very left field option. Konate should be replaced if he will night sign a deal in the next month and he should be aware where he will be sat and training if he doesn’t sign or leave in a suitable timeframe, of course he’s unlikely to be more than a squad player for France anyway but if he doesn’t sign or leave it’d be my mission as manager to make sure he gets nowhere near the France squad and id be public in my criticism of how he trains and his attitude and his choice of anything to ruin him as often as possible for the whole season.

{Ed001's Note - I don't care, we don't need a kid, we need a ready made option to slot in alongside Virgil. I like Ibou, he seems like a lovely guy, but he is an accident waiting to happen a lot of the time. Push pineapple is a player who stepped in and immediately lifted the rest of the defence alongside him.}

4.) 11 Jul 2025 20:30:36
Bit of black lace Ed? ? can tell it’s Friday.

{Ed001's Note - is there a better time for black lace? At least that's what I tell the missus when she catches me wearing it.}

5.) 11 Jul 2025 20:35:00
Emmanuel Agbadou.

{Ed001's Note - doo doo....}

6.) 11 Jul 2025 20:37:13
Fair enough I agree that he should be replaced by proven quality and not someone to take a chance on but I’d argue that half a season at wolves during which they changed manager and had a massive upturn in results but I think there’s players with more sexy names and reps that could do the job and do it for 6/ 7 years rather than 3. I like lukeba he was very impressive when he played against us I thought but maybe him being left sided is the issue. I’ve previously offered up names like van hecke too but again it seems the club has no interest in him either. I know you’ve don’t like guehi and I’m not convinced either but he ticks the solid pro box and homegrown etc. Could you perhaps name some that you A. Like and B. Think the club might have on a list of potential options?

{Ed001's Note - why would Push only be for 3 years? Virgil has had bad injuries and yet is still going strong. Centre backs don't cover as much ground as other outfield players, so they can play for longer.

It is late here, remind me tomorrow when my brain is awake please and I will answer it.}

Morning All.

I posted last week asking the question is Diaz allowed to talk with other clubs. He or his team have openly stated " talking to others" we all know it happens, but openly admitting it is not something I've noticed before. My comment last week was it is " refreshingly honest" that he/ his team say it. I drew a parallel with TAA who treated us all like mushrooms.

I personally hope we keep him.

YNWA.

1.) 06 Jul 2025 11:07:46
His team can talk to anyone.
It’s more a case other teams cannot talk to him or they risk being reported.

Today we say goodby to a player that as fans had us all off our seats and made us sing. His humble attitude, his honest effort on the field, and his clear love for his lovely wife and family will stick in my mind forever. His song will be echoing around Anfield for years to come.

I feel especially sad for your Mum losing both of you is just so tragic. I know all of the family will Never Walk Alone. ❤️.

This is Anfield report basically saying RM up to old tricks Konate.

What can we do to stop this?

Chrisymate

1.) 30 Jun 2025 23:32:12
We could follow the Chelsea model - give everyone a 15 year contract.

2.) 01 Jul 2025 00:57:09
To be fair Konate has already said there's been a lot of lies in the media.

I trust the club have decent idea where he is at and will hopefully handle the situation accordingly.

3.) 01 Jul 2025 04:04:33
Davwy tbf so did trent a lot of times and we know where he ended up.

4.) 01 Jul 2025 06:32:19
Didn’t Salah and VVD say similar, and we know where they stayed….

5.) 01 Jul 2025 07:53:02
The article says very little on Konate its more of a Real Madrid and their apparent tapping up of players piece.

6.) 01 Jul 2025 10:48:38
@OP, Could we get ‘This is Anfield’ to stop just making stuff up?

7.) 01 Jul 2025 11:22:30
@COffan, the fact that TAA went to RM doesn’t mean the press were telling the truth.

Am I missing somthing? 43 m£ for Konate? The same CB that helped his country to the World Cup final? The premier league winner? Behave RM who says he's only worth £43m. Get the fxxk! Go away wobble your silly Spanish heads. Put another £20m on the table. Then come back . this guy is a beast! When you realise what we have, pay up or do one. Fed up with these twots .

ED001 Can Diaz talk to others?

Or is he just being refreshingly honest?

If Rat boy did this statement last year he would not have spoilt his legacy. Instead he treated us like fools and his smug attitude leading to him becoming the only player I ever seen booed in the shirt.

I hated that! I have been Liverpool supporter since my first match in 71 never considered booing any player. But I would make an exception for TAA.

Chrisymate

{Ed001's Note - sorry what do you mean by talk? And how is he being refreshingly honest?}

Well said we always have been a club of class acts.

I wonder if Jim ratcliffe would ask people to bring a packed lunch to the funeral?

That legend of a lady that worked at Man U for years! He had someone phone and ask for the season tickets back after she passed away. Classy that was Jim!
