Hi all,
Besides the already known targets, Liverpool are very keen to get Wharton, while Stefan could be utilized on the right, so no new RB for now. I'd take a risk and say that Lfc will make a bid to Palace this summer.
Svensson is very much liked by the Club but they would pay only if Kostas gets a permanent transfer out.
No clue on Tomori, but no concrete interest or negotiations either.
T. Araujo of Benfica was looked at but his release clause is way too high.
Ezri Konsa wants Arsenal, and might get his wish soon.
02 Aug 2026 19:05:41
So basically we sign no one.
02 Aug 2026 19:15:04
Let's hope for some fast paced transfers soon then. According to Romano, Barcola could take another week (if it doesn't fall through), there's only 3 weeks until the season starts, and we've not heard anything concrete from journos for anyone else!
02 Aug 2026 19:37:52
Still considering Bajcetic to play any kind of role this season is cause for alarm bells itself.
02 Aug 2026 20:07:09
As93lfc, why do u say that? He was brilliant when he played for us and has been unlucky with injuries.
02 Aug 2026 20:16:50
I can see both of your points, @as93lfc and @ynwakopite. While he was really good when he played for us, he hasn't played in like 2 years now. It will take him a few months only to build match sharpness, let alone any type of form.
However, if the fitness staff feel he can get fit in time, I will be very happy to see him given a chance.
02 Aug 2026 20:29:15
Appreciate that info, Stan.
02 Aug 2026 20:41:45
@koptie, I was a big fan of him when he burst onto the scene but, like @thekoparmy said, he's not played for two full years. I can't see him coming back from that, staying fit and putting in good performances.
02 Aug 2026 21:00:24
Bajetic's injury was horrific and one of the most uncommon injuries in football. It's amazing he is still running, let alone playing football.
He was young and immature, and turned up late for training. Let's hope he has learnt from that and grown up a little.
02 Aug 2026 21:10:00
Absolute rubbish.
02 Aug 2026 13:23:10
Hi all,
As far as I am aware, Liverpool will not sanction a sale of Cody Gakpo until a suitable replacement is lined up. And no, that is not Barcola. He is considered a short term Mo replacement as far as I am aware. Iraola will not allow another forward to depart when our options are already limited in that department.
Defensive backup is a priority. Nico Schlotterbeck has been of massive consideration but it remains to be seen whether or not talks will advance.
I would not be shocked if we resigned Jarrell Quansah. The player is open to returning and triggering the buy back clause is considered a serious option internally. Konsa is also of interest but the expectation is Villa would command a considerable fee - particularly as they are not hurting for money after the Rogers sale.
Josh Acheampong won't happen. Other players admired are Branthwaite, Murillo, Kounde and Zabarnyi.
02 Aug 2026 13:38:44
Isn't Schlotterbeck injured, though? I'm pretty sure his release clause has also expired, which would make a transfer more difficult to negotiate.
02 Aug 2026 13:41:46
Barcola or Gakpo are the short term no replacement?? Because neither are right wingers. Wouldn't mind Zabarnyi.
02 Aug 2026 13:45:45
Good news Victor.
02 Aug 2026 13:47:39
Resigning Quansah really is a move backwards. Rather give one of the kiddies a chance than get him. We sold him for a reason.
02 Aug 2026 13:50:24
Quansah would be an excellent option, plays RB too. It's completely unrealistic to expect both Jacquet and Leoni to be reliable options all season.
02 Aug 2026 13:59:12
Thanks, Vg, as always.
Honestly, hope we don't re-sign Quansah.
Couldn't believe we got 35m for him in the first place.
Read somewhere his buy-back this year is something like £70m, which would be outrageous.
02 Aug 2026 14:02:19
Cheers, Vg.
I have no info, but get the impression our directors would bite anyone's hand off for £60m+ for Cody. With Kroupi's injury, Spurs are pretty serious about Cody.
02 Aug 2026 14:18:43
I really don't rate Quansah but then again their aren't many CB's I do rate. He's HG, still young, would have resale value and Ed001 did used to say he had potential if he stopped strutting around like he was VVD reborn.
If the cost wasn't outrageous I guess I wouldn't be and about it, but if Zabarnyi was available I'd rather him everyday of the week.
02 Aug 2026 14:25:14
If a centre back is not an option, a possibility, or even being looked for, is it not worth a phone call or permission sought for Ndukwe to play, as he is now no longer an U21 purchase, but an option / dead cert of a first team option. Rules often change in times of desperation, and this looks like desperate times.
02 Aug 2026 14:30:03
I am still on the Dean Huijsen train. Ideal long-term Virg successor at LCB.
How about Schlotterbeck to Real, opening the door to us for Huijsen.
02 Aug 2026 14:40:06
Quansah is a liability. He won't be brought back.
02 Aug 2026 14:40:47
Massive respect as always, VG. 👏
No Quansah please. 🙏
02 Aug 2026 14:47:31
Why do our recruitment team think it's ok to spend £100m on a player and then use them short term out of position? Doesn't make sense to spend top money and then dilute the impact. Also, doesn't help the player find their best form straight away, which is key for any new signings, particularly given the slow starts from Wirtz and Isak.
02 Aug 2026 14:51:06
Early days yet, but I think Ndukwe looks really good, to be fair, Hoof It, I'd love if he were able to stay, get a permit and play the cup games so we can get a much better look at him. He looks like he has everything we need in a center half, and if he could develop further, he could be some player.
02 Aug 2026 14:59:41
They don't, they are trying to sign a quality player because they want to and think he's a good player. No such thing as a short term Mo replacement. Could he be a replacement for Gakpo when he does go? Yes, but Gakpo might end up staying for now. But you don't buy a 100 mill player as a stop gap.
02 Aug 2026 14:35:33
Hoof it, I recall the great Ed002 used to say we messed around with the home office when getting the permit of a youngen, think it was the Brazilian Allan?
After that we struggled to get Awoyinis permit. Not sure what exactly happened as it was yonks ago but don't be optimistic about us getting Nduwekes permit.
02 Aug 2026 15:04:24
Maybe reading too much into it, but is it reasonable to guess that Quansah is the backup option in the event more preferred options fall through? Personally, I believe we could do worse than Quansah. I'd like to see him back.
02 Aug 2026 15:04:52
Quansah should never have been sold in my opinion, and thus I'd love to see him back. He is a far superior player to both Konate and Gomez. However, at the price being mooted (£50-60m) I just think there is better value to be had.
02 Aug 2026 15:10:27
We can thank Slot for Quansah's departure.
{Ed001's Note - at least he got one thing right then.}
02 Aug 2026 15:16:28
I expected as much, VG. Slot seemingly hated the mere thought of trusting an academy graduate.
02 Aug 2026 15:18:22
I wouldn't say Quansah is better than Kounde.
02 Aug 2026 15:24:50
Not against Quansah, the pelters he got on these boards were completely unjustified, in my view. VVD wasn't pulling up many trees in his early 20s either, CBs tend to develop later. Agree with MK that at £50-£60m (or more) there are better value options around; however, he is HG and CT, which would command a premium.
I wonder, with the injury to Kroupi, whether some arrangement (not a swap, as there are financial reasons for them not to happen) with Bournemouth could be worked out with Cody going to them and Rayan coming to us? Allows them to find another young gem to multiply the value of for RW, and Cody provides cover across the front 3, especially whilst Kroupi recovers.
I know Spurs have invested well, but Bournemouth are doing good business in the market and are in Europe.
02 Aug 2026 15:37:33
I highly doubt Gakpo would join Bournemouth.
02 Aug 2026 15:50:33
Yeah, you're right, Red Jones, based on salary if nothing else.
Bournemouth's star does seem to be on the rise, but let's see if the new manager can match AI.
02 Aug 2026 16:03:53
If the club has the same ambition as us supporters, then there is no way that they re-sign Quansah. He wasn't good the first time around, and nothing has happened to change that. There's a world of difference between him and the other names VG has mentioned.
02 Aug 2026 16:09:57
We need a player who can play both CB and RB or else someone's going to be doing a lot of sitting around.
02 Aug 2026 16:16:38
Quansah, good Jesus. Just when there's hope of getting rid of Jones then talk, of bringing Bambi on ice back. We're in trouble if this is true.
02 Aug 2026 16:20:29
Schlotterbeck is out injured for a few months & his buy out clause has expired.
Zabarnyi would be a great addition.
Has Ramsay played in any of the pre season games? How has he performed?
I haven't watched any pre season games.
02 Aug 2026 15:27:15
Quansah is absolutely garbage,
02 Aug 2026 16:35:42
Could always offer Barca £90 million for Cabarsi. They're in debt.
02 Aug 2026 16:53:01
This is some kind of joke resigning Quansah, don't give this any serious thoughts.
He'll never be good enough to return, rubbish for England too.
No way!!!!
02 Aug 2026 17:13:24
Have to agree with the other poster who mentioned Huijsen. If he's surplus at Madrid, I'd go for him.
02 Aug 2026 17:34:38
Need way more than Quansah!!!
The squad, as of now, it's going to fall short on challenging for one front, nvr mind 4!!
02 Aug 2026 17:44:32
We desperately need reinforcements, but I don't think bringing Quansah back is the answer - for him or the club.
Looks to me like we need an RB, CH; a midfielder and a forward.
And I'm baffled as to why we seem to be so quiet.
02 Aug 2026 17:56:49
There is a reason why the club put a buy back clause on Quansah. I could be wrong, but I didn't even see anything on a sell-on clause. He has progressed well so far, but not enough to be a first choice CB for us.
The smart thing to do for Liverpool is to let him develop for one more season, and get him back next summer. The number also reduces then.
02 Aug 2026 17:07:04
I'd much rather sign Neco Williams for the full back covers bothe side and go for Zabarnyi for the CB. Unless the club change their mind on sending Ndukwe, as I believe they can do the same as they did with the other young CB from Senegal.
Wouldn't want quansah to careless on the ball to reckless in challenges. Only thing he has on gomez is his fitness, unfortunately for games he can't stay fit otherwise he'd easily be up there with the best about in the league, he gets to much unfair criticism on here over his ability availability fair enough not ability.
Ed 1 with gomes do you happen to know if the club tailor the fitness and training for games or is it a case of everyone doing the same. Thinking in terms of past players like Ledly king, Paul McGrar. And if not maybe a case for them to do so
{Ed001's Note - he has been receiving tailored training a long time but England refused to listen to Liverpool and destroyed his body by ignoring those training recommendations.}
02 Aug 2026 17:59:16
We're quite because the head honchos at the club for some reason think that keeping the incompetent Hughes in the roll he's clearly not fit for us a good idea. Don't expect much from this window from that clown
02 Aug 2026 18:55:53
I'm not in the know, but what I do know is we shouldn't be going anywhere near Quansah. None of us shed a tear when we sold him.
02 Aug 2026 20:49:16
Selling Quansah was a brilliant deal for Liverpool, one of the few recent deals we "won".
I'd trust Ramsey and the young lads over re-signing Quansah. He's reached his level.
02 Aug 2026 21:03:23
If Chelsea come in quickly and sign Barcola after this long delay, it would be embarrassing.
02 Aug 2026 12:38:00
Murmurs coming out that a CB is not a priority. Are just that. We will move for one but the main focus is getting the Barcola deal over the line. That's not to say the groundwork for a deal for a CB is not being done. As far as I'm aware we have enquired about the price for both Konsa and Kounde, with wages not seen as being an issue for either.
Midfield is less of priority, as players need to be shifted. With Sanagare going to Brentford and Bouaddi looking like moving to Citeh.
We can safely rule them out. Which means the shortlist is getting shorter.
A rumour from the wife, Morrison, Koumas and Nyoni have made a massive impression on Iraola. I'm not sure how true it is. She got it and a charity event we run every year that is for women only and is for local charities connected to domestic abuse.
Oh and just want to say thanks for the responses to my last post. I appreciate you all, even if I don't agree with some of you. 😂
02 Aug 2026 13:44:59
Thank you fields.
02 Aug 2026 13:55:58
Thanks TF. Tbf, Nyoni and Koumas have both looked really good in the pre-season. Morrison, I still think, needs to bulk up a bit. But I watch academy football sometimes, and he is a real talent.
02 Aug 2026 14:05:42
Cheers, Thefields.
There's always time for a few press briefings to say we aren't looking for incomings in the positions that we clearly need to add/upgrade in. All part of the dance, isn't it? :)
02 Aug 2026 14:20:09
Thanks, TheFields, and good on you and MrsFields for your charity work. Nice one!
02 Aug 2026 14:42:48
Brilliant, TF and Mrs. TF. 👏👏
02 Aug 2026 16:13:58
Nice one, Fields - it would be special if 2/3 of those kids stepped up this season. The market is farked, and high prices add to tire pressures on players. Youth team members play without that fear.
02 Aug 2026 18:00:41
Any news on when the Barcola deal will be done?
02 Aug 2026 18:23:15
Appreciated as always, the Fields.
02 Aug 2026 18:32:44
Cheers, Fields, disappointing nonetheless. Would like to see a senior CB brought in, considering that, bar Gomez, we've only got the 2 young lads coming back off injury, and likely won't be available for the first few games. Is the club at least prioritising a RB who can play CB?
02 Aug 2026 20:53:03
Thanks TF 💪 and Mrs TF.
My family has suffered bereavement associated with domestic abuse, so it cuts deep with me.
I agree that Nyoni and Koumas have looked good, Morrison looks skilful, but I haven't seen either enough pace or strength. He can work on it though.
02 Aug 2026 11:33:11
Morning Peeps
Diomande deal is dead.
Can anyone, including ITKs, give up on this one? It's 150% not happening. Leipzig enquired with LFC about re-entering negotiations, we've said no.
Barcola deal is 50/50. He's not really what we are after, as not a direct replacement for Mo.
However we are trying to convince him to play RW, at least until we sign a replacement (Probably Rayan 2027).
If Mac Allister goes, which is likely, we will move to secure Alex Scott before transfer window closes.
YNWA JT97
02 Aug 2026 12:00:47
Thanks for the information.
Diomande being dead is no surprise, given how his entourage played with us.
The RW worries me because I don't feel Barcola is the answer there. If he is coming, he should be LW, sell Gakpo, get a RW, and have Rio and Munoz as backup.
Regarding Alex Scott, I fail to see what he offers different than Szobo. I would want a no. 6 primarily, which he is not. And, worst case scenario, I think the team needs a Wharton type of player rather than the type of Alex Scott.
02 Aug 2026 12:03:31
This post makes very little sense. Give up posting any updates, and we are going to spend a fortune on a player we don't really want and then we will ask him to play out of position. Ps, 150%, don't get me started on that one.
02 Aug 2026 12:09:29
50/50 for Barcola? As if you'd know haha.
02 Aug 2026 12:17:26
Once Paul Joyce wrote the piece about Barcola, we all knew LFC are pushing hard.
02 Aug 2026 12:18:49
Barcola is happening. Source: Macca, Carra, and all the other ITKs who posted it.
02 Aug 2026 12:20:00
What now. 😂
Seriously tho, most of us gave up on Diomande when PSG entered the frame, nevermind Real. 😂
Barcola wants the move, we want the move. So it will happen barring a massive u-turn.
Plus he is exactly what we need. A fast, skifull winger. I trust VGs and Robbos info more tbh.
Tj, I'm with you, but I'm not going to bite as hard on this one. 😂
02 Aug 2026 12:22:28
If anything this post makes me think Diomande still has legs. 🙈
02 Aug 2026 12:25:42
Thanks for the info, but I've read Barcola has played on the right quite a bit, plus Iraola experimented with Rio on the right against Wrexham.
We aren't going to walk away from the Barcola deal now after what happened with Diomande.
Also, I think all the posters who post info have said the Diomande deal is dead.
02 Aug 2026 12:35:18
Also I'm sure I read Iraola has said he wants his wingers to switch wings during the games, so they need to be versatile.
And Barcola started off his career on the right wing, so....
02 Aug 2026 12:50:14
Well, HHG, you showed your colours in your opening 150% dead. If you want to expand on dead, then you say deader than a dead thing from Deadsville, ala Simon Jordan.
As for your 50/50 on Barcola, you could not be more right. He will either sign or he won't.
Thanks for the info all the same.
02 Aug 2026 12:56:15
Isn't Barcola right footed? I'd quite like to see him play on the right in that case, so that someone can cross the ball into our strikers rather than just cutting in and running into the opposition full back...
02 Aug 2026 12:57:21
For the money we would be paying, I am expecting Barcola to be able to play on either flank.
When we signed Mane, was everyone complaining about him being on the right wing or, indeed, moved to the left when we signed Salah?
In today's world where players are apparently limited to either right or left wing, imagine everyone complaining that John Barnes is used as a left footed left winger.
He still managed to score 100+ goals from that position and would probably have done the same had he played on the right.
If they can play on both sides, then they aren't good enough in my view, simple as that.
02 Aug 2026 12:59:27
Nothing to see here. Next.
02 Aug 2026 12:00:42
Come on robbo and others who have been correct at least 95% of the time saying the deal for barcola is done and you are saying it's only 50/50 how do you find that out please I have never replied or sent a message to this site but always looked out for robbo fields carra and a couple more and I think they have all said now it's a done deal
02 Aug 2026 12:04:12
Is this from news now story? I'm not saying we will but I believe nothing from there
02 Aug 2026 13:06:20
Another troll account, I'm guessing.
02 Aug 2026 13:10:11
Barcola 50-50%? In my late teenage I always thought that I stand a 50-50% chance with Samantha Fox, I mean I was very much keen on her, all that was left she followed my bright desires. :)
02 Aug 2026 13:14:10
@HHG, Diomande will sign for us. My info is it's still possible. Good enough for me.
And when he does, I shall rejoice and have a party, with balloons and cake.
02 Aug 2026 13:22:42
Trash.
02 Aug 2026 13:10:46
Another Grizz-alt.
He's going to start talking to himself soon.
Annoying little twerp, but you've got to admire his perseverance!
Clearly his parents haven't lined up any holiday clubs for him, poor little fella is bored 😂
02 Aug 2026 13:25:15
Do we really want him when he wants Madrid, and plus the sideshow agency he's with.
02 Aug 2026 13:33:54
Another twitter t*** posing as ITK
No coincidence that this info was shared on twatter just an hour before this post.
02 Aug 2026 13:30:25
Diomande deal died weeks ago. come out from under your rock once in a while.
02 Aug 2026 13:47:18
Barcola 50/50 news sounds ridiculous given everyone else has emphasised how much he wants the move. Diomande has been dead for ages, and, given the context around his agency legal drama, it's probs for the better.
02 Aug 2026 14:07:40
With PSG signing Godts and Akliouche, the probably of Barcola joining us is pretty high. There's no such thing as a sure bet, but it looks very likely now, and relations between Liverpool and PSG are pretty good from the sounds of it.
02 Aug 2026 15:34:09
I think that Liverpool should try again with a much lower offer.
02 Aug 2026 11:29:34
Looks like Jaquet may not even make the first game of the season.
02 Aug 2026 11:56:06
Is it still his shoulder or is there another injury too. 😩
02 Aug 2026 12:11:33
He's not even ready, especially for the Leeds one, still in the gym.
For me this is crazy, and I get impatient, but I look at pre season as vital, and not having actual centre backs who will play this season is negligent.
02 Aug 2026 11:23:16
Reports that Diomande is on strike to force the Madrid move. Really think we've got away with one here...
02 Aug 2026 11:58:40
Yeah, we definitely don't want players that go on strike at their club to force a move to us. :D
02 Aug 2026 12:33:16
Absolutely, Faith...
02 Aug 2026 12:36:50
Well, Mane & VVD did in the past!
02 Aug 2026 13:34:41
We'd never buy a player who downed tools...
02 Aug 2026 13:34:44
Yes, Sanjit, but they moved to Liverpool, so it's not the same. 😏
02 Aug 2026 13:45:38
Isakly..!
02 Aug 2026 06:50:16
It seems that Gackpo, Macca and Jones are on their way out and we are listening to offer for Elliott from Fulham now. If all that works we have 200m in the bag and don.
02 Aug 2026 08:10:55
We shouldn't sell unless we have replacements lined up, we can't leave ourselves any shorter than we already are.
02 Aug 2026 08:23:37
I would keep Elliott.
02 Aug 2026 08:26:40
Agree with SA, but why sell Elliott? Give him a second chance as a squad player. As for Jones and Macca, who is going to replace them? Gakpo can operate as the third striker or bench player, and we need all the depth in the world. Only sell him if an offer of 75 to 80m comes through.
02 Aug 2026 07:57:28
Where did 200m come from?
02 Aug 2026 08:34:02
I like Elliott, but Koumas is outshining him in pre-season. His relentless pressing and intensity is much more suited to Iraola-ball. Morrison is also more suited to playing on the right wing in his style.
If we got a decent offer, I'd probably let Elliott go with a heavy heart.
02 Aug 2026 08:44:35
Sure departure & revenue expected and potential replacements are well thought of by recruitment team.
Gakpo should be the last to go of those players listed.
02 Aug 2026 08:45:13
If Elliott is happy to play back up to Wirtz in the number 10 spot, then I would keep him. Surely enough minutes throughout the season to keep him happy.
02 Aug 2026 08:47:37
I trust the manager on this. If he doesn't see a place for a player, they should leave for the sake of their careers.
02 Aug 2026 09:04:06
With regards to Elliot, Klopp, Slot and Iraola can't all be wrong. He's out of shape, produces very little and is not much better than the youth kids coming through. I'd be happy to let him go. Strange how everyone on here absolutely hates Jones, who is local and thinks the sun shines out of Elliot's a*se.
02 Aug 2026 09:05:54
And talking about him as back up for Wirtz, unless Wirtz improves massively, then I wouldn't have him as a guaranteed starter, nevermind Elliot.
02 Aug 2026 09:07:48
Inbeta, mate, you're full of very harsh and outlandish claims.
02 Aug 2026 09:30:44
Elliot is many things, but out of shape is not one of them. He was one of the fittest players under Klopp, his running was insistent, especially when in the midfield 3. His limitations are his physical stature, more in terms of pace and power, mean he is more of a technical winger than a threat in behind.
I think he is a very valuable squad player and can play the 10 role well. He has a great attitude and work rate too.
02 Aug 2026 09:38:10
Am not ITK, just putting together all ITK. If Fulham buy Elliot it's a good move for him and good luck to lad. He is going to be bit and part player for us, and he wants a starter role at a PL club. Fulham is a good team. Although I cant say with their new coach, but for all its worth he is ex-Liverpool player and we could sneak in a buy-back and sell-on clause.
I think we all agree to sell Macca and Jones, as they are weak links in the midfield. Macca can't press, Jones can press but can't release the ball.
Gackpo, I am bit split about. We can upgrade him with Barcola, but how much of an upgrade it is and what costs remain to be seen.
02 Aug 2026 09:39:22
I'm happy for all 4 to go. I'm done with sentiment nowadays. I'd even add Gomez in to it if an offer came in.
All 5 can be improved upon, whether that's signing someone, or promotion within.
If there's better suited options out there for the manager's style, they have to be bought or promoted, and the ones that don't suit need to go. It's best for all parties concerned imo.
02 Aug 2026 09:41:40
We're on the transfer merry go round now, we'll be buying 4-6 players every summer.
02 Aug 2026 09:44:28
Also, inbeta, I don't think people here hate Jones, but he is 25 and never pushed on. If anything, he has regressed. His versatility seems to now be holding him back, as he doesn't have a defined role in the squad other than to fill in.
Looking at his body language, he appears to be ready for a change. I think he is desperate to be a starter, but I don't ever see it happening here, which is why people are saying let's cash in. Elliot can offer us specific cover for 10.
02 Aug 2026 09:48:38
Like Elliot but if Iraola doesn't think he suits his style, it doesn't matter what we think.
02 Aug 2026 10:00:19
I'd personally sell Macca and Jones before Elliott.
- Elliott backup to Wirtz.
- Koumas backup on wings and maybe false 9 early cup games.
- Morrison loan to a good progressive Championship side.
- McConnell loan to Championship.
- Get a CB, RB, CM, Barcola.
- Keep Niony and Bacjetic around till January, then reassess.
- Get a versatile forward (winger and CF) if Gakpo goes.
02 Aug 2026 10:01:23
If they all go, can we have Wharton and Scott please.
02 Aug 2026 10:12:14
£200mill for all 4 would be nice.
It was always a case of Jones or Elliott, but we need more of an impact player, and both of these are not there.
Hopefully next year Gravenberch can join them alongside Endo.
02 Aug 2026 10:22:57
Fulham boo him at every opportunity. Would he really go back there?
02 Aug 2026 10:36:19
Fans are fickle, they'd be singing his name again after a week.
02 Aug 2026 10:14:02
What's worrying is that before any one left or goes, we needed more players because the squad was light. We are now talking about replacements for players going if we do 1 out 1 in we will still be light as a team to compete.
Someone mentioned the other day that it seems like we are focusing on a player at a time, we don't know what's happening behind closed doors but that's really worrying that it's coming across like that.
I've always said it seems like CJ believes his own hype and never really delivered on the pitch for me, if he is wanting more game time he should go. If you think of the best 11 he is only near it because of the lack of depth we have, let him go.
Macca hasn't worked and seems he wants out, let him go.
Elliot has just basically had a year out if he is happy for minutes here and there, keep him because he is a fan, he works hard and can deliver moments.
What's getting worrying is it's getting closer to the season starting and we are so light on numbers, one of the stand outs is a young lad who is down as a trail player and needs to be loaned out due to a work permit.
Rio is reminding me of when Ronaldo moved to United doing all the stupid step overs until Fergie probably hair dried them out of him which is very frustrating as very high hope for him.
I just wish the "intensity" all the players are saying training is under Andoni (which is amazing to hear) the higher ups were showing about getting us ready for the up coming season.
I don't like the Chelsea model, but the last couple of weeks they have brought close to four players in, where we (what it feels like and we don't know) are like "we have spoken to him we will keep him waiting because he really wants the move (Wharton)". We have been offered a really logical option as CB that makes sense but don't act on it (Zabarnyi). Once Barcola is done, we will look at this position, but we will wait for PSG to get their house in order and sign multiple players before completely the signing of Barcola and everything else will just wait because bring Isak in on the last day of the transfer window last year worked a treat!
Frustrating FC but will say, I'm so excited for the season still just because Arne Slot isn't here. I'm sure in three weeks time the squad will be looking clearer and I'll be sat on my sofa with egg on my face because the people at the clubs know sooo much more than I do and really football isn't like FM or FC26 😂
Fair play if you read all that moaning - apologies.
02 Aug 2026 10:39:34
Did I just read someone write Elliott is technical? Jones, despite his tendency to hog the ball and not track back, is technical. Elliott is not.
02 Aug 2026 10:42:48
I'd like to see the academy kids get minutes with the first team.
AI can make a decision in January on who he'd like to retain and which players to send out on loan.
02 Aug 2026 11:08:48
Man of Todd, it is completely fine to have differing opinions. You rate Elliot, I don't. I thought he was good, but like Jones, Elliot has not kicked on either, but for some reason he is held aloft here like some sort of folk hero who has been terribly hard done by, and Jones is whipping boy of the month now that everyone has stopped whipping Gakpo.
It's just weird. That's all. But I suppose this is where we are at now with things.
02 Aug 2026 11:11:18
Gakpo
Will get more goals than Barcola ever will, but Barcola suits us much more. Question is, can he handle the grind in a defence, set piece
oriented league, or is he just another Edward fantasy football signing?
02 Aug 2026 11:20:31
This is not directed at you, Man of Todd. I have just noticed a lot of hate for Jones and a lot of love for Elliot, who hasn't really done much. I just find it odd. Maybe it is a personality thing, or the current trend.
02 Aug 2026 11:34:14
Dunno if AI will be advanced enough in January, Kimi maybe, but not Claude.
02 Aug 2026 11:38:15
Seems like a risky move, there's less than 3 weeks until the Premier League kicks off, and we're already probably 3 players short. Would be in a world of trouble if we sold another 4.
02 Aug 2026 11:12:28
@Billynwa, it comes from the world where people just make random numbers up.
@OP, are the players you list, Gakpo, Macca. Jones and Elliot, "on their way out" as a result of social media or do you have any specific information?
02 Aug 2026 11:48:57
We are talking about one of the best-run clubs in the world, and should not worry about timing - there is always a reason. The main issue, if there is one, is Edwards and how much power he had over choosing who we sign. Using stats to choose players, ok, but what about stylistic fit and the manager's preferences?
02 Aug 2026 12:17:28
Stylistic fit? Next, you be telling me they're wishing on a star.
02 Aug 2026 12:33:24
Saying Klopp, Slot and Ireola can't all be wrong about Elliot is off the mark. Elliot was a regular starter for Klopp ahead of bigger names until untimely injuries, and Ireola hasn't even had him for 3 games yet, so how can you say he doesn't rate him? Yeah, Slot didn't like him, but, if anything, that kind of makes me think he's worth keeping!
02 Aug 2026 12:41:33
I like Elliot, but he doesn't look in good shape at all, and has had a head start on a lot of players. Fair enough, he didn't play last season, but the second chance presents itself and he turns up to preseason with a slight belly.
For me, it sends the wrong message to the new manager. Others turn up in peak condition, ripped with 6 packs, who trained hard whilst they were off.
Like Rooney, Ronaldo at United, was Ronaldo a better footballer than Rooney? No, not in my opinion. But, when one was going to maccies and knocking at my nans, the other was training and getting every ounce out what he had. Footballers always say it's a short career, and it could flash Harvey buy before he knows it.
02 Aug 2026 12:00:05
honestly with Jones, I think he needs a good old fashioned clip around the ear to set him straight
I think his head is gone
02 Aug 2026 13:23:58
Inbeta, the whole Jones is the whipping boy of the month and more love towards Elliott is from their own doing, I'd say.
Jones is more hot headed, has gotten into arguments with team mates lately. He's looked disinterested or not quite in it since the end of last season, like his goal against Brentford, no celebration and just indifferent. He's also had a lot of opportunities in the squad, whether he started or came off the bench, but seems to be demanding more or at least unhappy with game time etc.
Elliott, on the other hand, always puts in effort and is high energy. He doesn't get into arguments with others, and seems happy to just be part of the squad and play wherever they want him to play. He's just got a better attitude and can do a job as a squad player. So can Jones, but he doesn't seem happy with just being a squad player.
There's no conspiracy here about Jones being the whipping boy and Elliott getting an easy one. In my opinion, it's their own attitudes and whatnot that people are picking up on.
02 Aug 2026 13:24:44
He needs a new club, Faith. That's the only thing he needs.
02 Aug 2026 18:19:32
They are both naughty boys and both deserve a clip around their ears. Then sell them both and buy dembele and kvaratshili lol
01 Aug 2026 13:08:58
I see there had been a Fab Romano 'Here we go' about the young Monaco winger. Does this possibly mean we could be hearing a Barcola one very soon?
01 Aug 2026 13:29:09
They're signing the kid from Ajax as well. So I assume Barcola won't be far behind!
01 Aug 2026 13:47:52
Barcola won't be far behind, no.
Just not this weekend, I wouldn't imagine. Barcola will be a Liverpool player, it's just a matter of finalising all the smaller legal details and organising the structure of a deal.
01 Aug 2026 13:54:19
If they have a fee agreed in principle, perhaps there is value in keeping it quiet whilst they do another deal that would look to benchmark against it, eg Rayan or another RW.
If they are still negotiating with PSG, well, that is another thing.
01 Aug 2026 14:37:34
Always seems our transfers take longer than anyone else's. Or is it just me?
01 Aug 2026 14:39:55
At a surface level, there's something to admire about how PSG are approaching their transfer business.
Akliouche and Godts for around a combined 100mil pound, when they still have Doue, Dembele, and Kvaradonna is very good business.
01 Aug 2026 14:53:38
Another way of looking at it, Faith, is that it only happened when the deal for Diomande fell apart.
I wonder what the fee would have been for Akliouche and Godts if a Premier League club had enquired about them?
PSG can afford to pay, so why are clubs letting them get their players on the cheap?
01 Aug 2026 14:57:04
We never announce new signings on the weekend. It's deliberate.
01 Aug 2026 14:57:41
Fair play, Vic, for calling Barcola very early. Starting to get excited about having genuine raw pace in the team again.
Also, like the idea of wingers swapping, used to play on both wings myself and hated when managers didn't fancy swapping during games.
Keeps the full backs guessing, especially in the modern game, where the emphasis at full back is nearly more to go forward than defend. Hopefully a sign of rock and roll football returning. 💪
01 Aug 2026 15:22:32
How much more could you really ask for the lad from Ajax in fairness?
01 Aug 2026 17:00:24
Still happened. We could have done it? Maybe not tho, I'm sure it's more complicated than what I'm typing on this screen.
Hence why I prefaced with "on a surface level".
01 Aug 2026 17:09:31
If PSG are selling Barcola for Akliouche, that would suggest that Akliouche is better than Barcola on the basis of you don't sell your best players for squad players? The first eleven is far more important than the squad as a whole! Always has, always will be! A winger is a winger regarding what side of the pitch he plays on?
Does Barcola have previous injuries, for example PSG are hoping to get away with on a medical, such as Shankly turned down Frank Worthington on doctor's advice of Venereal Disease VD or dirty dick to be more apt, Aquilani also raises concerns, he was signed on doctor's advice he had a bad ankle, yet Rafa still bought him and he had more serious knee issues than ankle, we could be signing a sick note in the toughest physical league in the world.
Is there something amiss going on here?
01 Aug 2026 17:20:39
PSG are selling Barcola because the player wants to leave, they very much wanted to keep Barcola, so they've been forced to look for alternatives and their first option (Diomande) went elsewhere.
Neither of the players they're close to signing (Akliouche and Godts) are currently anywhere near as good as Barcola (they're very different footballers to Barcola tbf) and that's coming from someone who thinks Barcola is good but nothing special and massively overpriced.
01 Aug 2026 17:56:46
Hello,
Wirtz Nightmare, I respect your opposite insights, it's most apt, Wirtz Nightmare, considering I had the same similar thoughts when we were trying to get Wirtz over the line!
I also have the same views regarding Wharton at £80 million, that's the same as buying a Ford Fiesta for Rolls Royce prices!
01 Aug 2026 18:21:47
I said a few days ago we'll get confirmation on Barcola from early next week.
01 Aug 2026 18:23:47
Haha, yeh it was my FPL team name last season and I couldn’t remember my previous login from here that I used many years ago!
I completely agree re: Wharton, and he’d cost a lot more than £80m now as well, I suspect.
Probably looking north of £100m for him in this market, which anyone would be clinically insane to pay (which is likely why we’ve probably heard no one being linked with him this summer).
01 Aug 2026 18:42:36
I went with Wirtz happens at sea.
01 Aug 2026 19:29:43
007, Chelsea didn't fancy Salah at one time, maybe just isn't the player for the manager's style of play, maybe his fave doesn't fit, who knows.
01 Aug 2026 19:53:07
King Kenny, I think it is quite simple. The rest of Europe dislikes England, and if they can charge English clubs more for a player, they will. Furthermore, European clubs enjoyed success in UCL when English clubs were banned in the 80's and early 90's. There is still animosity from the way English fans carried on when away, and some of them still carry on this way. If you ask me, European fans can be just as bad.
I think for English clubs now to be getting the big TV deals and massive investment from USA and Saudi billionaires annoys them. And they are also well aware that most of their young players will use their stepping stone to reach the EPL. Take all that and fire in a bit of political and historical beef, then this is probably why they charge English clubs more for players.
01 Aug 2026 22:25:48
PSG are selling Barcola because the player wants to leave because he is behind Kvaradonna in the pecking order. No shame in that.
01 Aug 2026 22:36:16
"The rest of Europe dislikes England". Seriously?
01 Aug 2026 23:24:05
It's just business, isn't it? There is no room for popularity contests in business. If you can charge more for a "product" you're going to maximise its value, and if English clubs get the most TV money then they can afford to pay more.
01 Aug 2026 23:28:16
Lots of owners of European clubs have 2 prices. 1 for English clubs and 1 for the rest of Europe. This is purely because of the disparity in the amount English clubs generate and are willing/able to pay.
It's not about hatred of a country, but helps share some of the wealth around. I don't agree with it but it's been this way for a while and the English clubs will get stung buying English players by even more anyway.
02 Aug 2026 00:08:12
You are right in what you are saying to an extent, but it's also because they don't like English.
02 Aug 2026 00:13:05
What about PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc, @Brommers?
I think it's related to the 'reputation' of the financial power of the buying club, irrespective of country. I also think the 'English tax' mostly follows the same principal. Relatively poorer English teams look to squeeze as much money out of the wealthier English teams wherever possible.
02 Aug 2026 09:52:12
007, I get you don't rate Barcola, can you advise our scouts who we should sign?
01 Aug 2026 11:17:02
Gapko to Spurs seems to be gathering pace. A Spurs friend of mine is adamant it’s happening soon. Do we know if this is the case? Hoping with the current market we are getting at least £60-70 mill for him.
01 Aug 2026 11:32:30
It bewilders me how, in this market, we would entertain the idea of accepting £60m for a Premier League winner who did 20+ G/A 2x seasons on the trot.
01 Aug 2026 11:33:15
With the current market going bananas, I'd want 300 mill for Gakpo.
{Ed025's Note - i hope thats Turkish Lira Strom.. :)
01 Aug 2026 11:48:33
No way we should be leaving Gakpo go, we're alright squad light.
01 Aug 2026 11:50:42
Didn't Macca say so?
01 Aug 2026 11:53:34
Gakpo is not good enough and earns way too much.
01 Aug 2026 12:00:03
The price will be effected by last season's form.
If we could get £60/£70m for him and get Barcola and Rayan, I would think we would have done ok. He is 28 this season. We signed him for £35/£44m.
He has been an ok player but nowhere near the standards set by Mane and is never going to get to that level. So better than keeping to play second fiddle to Barcola and his value going down.
01 Aug 2026 12:20:31
Regardless of his limitations, in this market, his output in terms of goals and assists should get us more than £70m.
If we can't get close to that figure, I'd keep him as we need cover in the forward areas.
As an aside, we seem to have acquired a tendency to spend high and sell low. Glad Edwards is gone and will be happy to see the back of Hughes.
01 Aug 2026 12:24:50
If we sell Gakpo, we need to buy another player on top of Barcola for squad depth. Better if it is a RW.
I don't like that we were very light on the squad last year, and we don't seem to recognize and help that.
01 Aug 2026 12:33:14
If Gordon is worth 70, then Gakpo is worth 80 at least.
This market right now is so inflated, we could ask for that and would get it.
Minteh and Rayan, who have a year or so in the prem, are quoted at 80+ so Gakpo at the same price is actually an insult.
01 Aug 2026 12:35:22
If we could swap Gakpo for Rayan in the squad, it would look a lot more balanced. Would hope that the fees for each player should be similar also, and it would lower the wage bill.
01 Aug 2026 12:35:32
If it's only based on last season's form, there is a substantial difference in price between Gakpo and Rayan.
Rayan played 4 months of PL football and is rated at over 100 mill. Yes, he's younger, but Gakpo is hardly over the hill and way more established. Not saying don't sell Gakpo, but for me he's worth more than Richarlison (60mill) and even Grealish (100 mill).
01 Aug 2026 12:43:25
Last season's form. Barcola netted 20 G/A, Gakpo netted 15 during a poor season under an ineffective manager, mind you. He might be 27, but you can't tell me he's worth half of what Barcola's worth, that's nonsense.
01 Aug 2026 12:10:38
Ed025, well the prices for rubbish players atm we might as well get it in precious Pound notes, the big green ones
{Ed025's Note - a bit unrealistic imo Strom..
01 Aug 2026 12:54:48
I would say Gordon and Gakpo are on par.
Gordon is quicker, and Gakpo has a better eye for goal.
Both have their limitations, and I would gladly take £70m for Gakpo.
I would also gladly take anything over £30m for Jones, and anything at all for Chiesa and Endo.
£110m there, and pays for Barcola.
Sell Macca for £75m too, and spend it on Sadiki from Sunderland.
Go out and buy Kounde, Fernandez Pardo, Zabarnyi for around £140m combined, and that's the only spend this summer apart from Munoz £35m.
01 Aug 2026 12:55:44
Defo need to keep hold of Gapko. Isak is the only striker we have at the moment with Etikite being injured, and as we all know Isak has a lengthy injury record.
We need Gapko to share the work with Isak.
01 Aug 2026 12:55:48
We're going for top of the market big name signings. That comes with getting less than what you're spending, for the players that you let go. Gakpo at £70m would be a fair price. If you're not selling to Bayern, Real or PSG, you just have to accept it and move on before whoever you're trying to sell's market value depreciates even more.
01 Aug 2026 12:56:19
Gakpo doesn't want to leave so I very much doubt that he will. Nor should he. He is a very good player and a valuable asset to our current forward line. If sold, I certainly believe that it will not be to Spurs. He'll have better options than that.
01 Aug 2026 12:57:55
@JK23, I think you are overlooking the age factor too much. Minteh and Rayan have suboptimal output, but the prices are due to age.
With regards to selling low, we can't actually sell that high more often than not, cos those that probably cost that high are someone we always want to keep (e.g.
Coutinho). If management sell those players even with high fees, the fans would be complaining we have no ambition lol.
01 Aug 2026 13:16:12
Take £70m all day. The Gordon comparison was spot on in my opinion. They're both limited players and their goal tallies look better than their actual ability, in my opinion. Probably because they both get a lot of minutes as strikers.
Gakpo is not a bad player at all, but he is incredibly one footed and, as a result, very predictable. Even Salah would occasionally use the outside of his left foot or go on the outside of the full back.
Gakpo always cuts inside though. Always.
He'll go and do well at Spurs or Bayern. He's just not elite and at 27 years old he should be coming into his prime, not coming off the back of a flat season. I'll get behind him if he stays, but it feels like the right time for change.
01 Aug 2026 13:35:26
Definitely think Gakpo is leaving. And it could be 63m + 7m addons.
01 Aug 2026 13:49:40
Gapko is worth 60m. He will go for around that figure, however, to Byern, not Tottenham, in my humble opinion.
And we will buy another midfielder, irrespective whether we sell Gapko or not.
If we sell Macca & Jones, expect a third midfield purchase.
It's all gathering pace. Next week will be a biggie.
01 Aug 2026 14:16:10
"Gakpo always cuts inside though. Always"
He never passed to an overlapping Kerkez either. I wonder how much of that was due to Slot though. He went down the wing a couple of times in the WC and looked a better player.
If he stays then I'm expecting a fair improvement this season.
01 Aug 2026 14:17:54
John Barnes is God. I think Gakpo will go Spurs because Bayern won't fork out the money for him unless Diaz is sold (appears unlikely based on Bayern's CEO's statements). Jones will likely go, and a new midfielder brought in. Reports have emphasised a new midfielder only in the case of a departure, which makes sense given we have quite a few bodies there and want to let Nyoni flourish.
Also, I hope you have dismissed your Diomande dream, particularly in the light of the damning reports regarding his agency situation and the fact he is halfway through the door of Madrid.
01 Aug 2026 14:35:02
Can somebody explain to me why Gakpo would want to leave his near £300k pw 5 year contract with the team who won the Premier League just 12 months ago to join a club that's barely escaped relegation 2 years on the trot? Or why Bayern would buy him when Diaz is in the form of his life?
01 Aug 2026 14:45:42
Well said, @Sikaboy, above. My thoughts, if this gathers any real steam, is the left side is crowded, but the middle will need cover until Etikite is back in 2027.
01 Aug 2026 14:59:27
The chance to get Gakpo's wages off the books will not be passed up by FSG imo.
My personal take is that his race is run at Liverpool, Iraola wants wingers with a different profile, ie those that can play on both flanks.
He has shown he is not good enough to be a back up striker, so let's be honest, when would he get a game?
Whilst Spurs are spending like lottery winners, let's take advantage and get a high earning squad player off our books.
01 Aug 2026 15:32:39
Chewy, I suspect Rio's increasing need for playing time, and the club signing another two primarily LWs in addition to that might factor into his decision.
01 Aug 2026 19:23:55
Plus Spurs will increase his wages.
01 Aug 2026 13:10:01
Ed025, of course it unrealistic, there is no such thing as green pound notes anymore.you had a late night Ed
{Ed025's Note - and thats the problem Strom, you know how much you spent mate with notes..
02 Aug 2026 00:19:07
I'd say Gordon is a more rounded player than Gakpo. At least Gordon takes people on, on the outside, and doesn't just cut inside every single time. Gordon also tends to play a bit more 'heads up' than Gakpo, and can pick a pass. 90% of the time gets his head done, cuts inside and shoots, usually being blocked.
I'm surprised Spurs want him - any reasonable defence can see him coming a mile away.
As an aside, I thought Gakpo was most effective for us the season before last playing in the CF role, where he had to vary his game.
02 Aug 2026 00:48:24
gojonesgo, Rio is a kid, and although he'll get more minutes this season, he's still second choice. Munoz, despite the rave reviews from countless posters on here who never even knew the kid existed prior to us signing him, is also second choice. I can't see anybody with half a brain leaving a £300k pw paycheck behind because there's 2 kids who play the same position with no experience on the bench.
Barcola is a LW, yes, but he's played at RW too, a position we currently need filled, and we also need somebody to cover Ekitike up front, so currently there's a need for 3 experienced senior players across the frontline, where we only have 2 available. I see no squad related reason Gakpo would want to leave, unless Iraola tells him he's not part of his plan.
02 Aug 2026 06:29:50
Perhaps Gakpo wants to start a YouTube channel as a side hustle - Diary of a CEO Holland.
02 Aug 2026 06:37:23
Whoever tried to compare Barcola's and Gakpo's stats, you forgot to mention Gakpo played 1000 minutes more than Barcola. In the current market 27y is a lot cheaper than 23. And, most importantly, Gakpo as first choice option didn't work out for Liverpool. He was good when he was interchanging with Diaz; it was unpredictable for defenders.
After Diaz left, every right back knows what he wants to do, and he is not that good to pull it off despite being too predictable.
I also think, if Gakpo stays, we are not buying RW player this summer. If he leaves, we will.
