So gutted for Connor Bradley. Good luck lad keep strong and hope you make the World Cup with NI.

Ed001

What your prediction on any incoming defensive signings. Are we still playing Chicken with Palace?

Didn't turn out well in the summer did it?

Now is a desperate time imo.

YNWA.

While I don't think we need to react to get a right back in, the need for a CB (or two) will get more acute if you plan on depending on Gomez more.

Priorities are the same - CB, wide forward and then DM.

 2

11 Jan 2026 14:52:04
So we now don't a RB (because Frimpong certainly isn't one) but we don't need a RB? Guess we can play Szoboszlai there for the rest of the season then.

Gomez will break after three games on the trot.

Even scarier is we are now reliant on Konate and VvD staying fit for the remainder of our season.

 5

11 Jan 2026 15:00:26
Dont usually back panic buying. What i will say is your taking a chance asking Frimpong to play every 3 or 4 days between now and seasons end when he's already had 2 seperate hamstring injuries this year while adjusting to the intensity of English football.

People will say Gomez can cover but i've already made my feelings on Gomez's ability to stay fit abundantly clear. If and its a big if we could get Guehi in (although i don't think he'll move till the summer) he could offer cover at both CB and RB.

 2

11 Jan 2026 15:04:36
This might be an off the wall suggestion, but what's wrong with playing Robbo at right back?
He knows how to defend, majority of left wingers these days are right footed and cut inside, which plays to Robbos strengths.
What you think guys?

 3

11 Jan 2026 15:29:17
Players who have played RB are Ramsey, Gomez, Frimpong, Szoboszlai and Jones.
2 are better in midfield the other 3 have had injury problems. CB we have VVD, Konate, Gomez, Endo, Gravenburch and Robertson at a push.

A CB that can fill in at RB would certainly take the pressure off.

 1

11 Jan 2026 16:18:30
It's a massive problem area for us. Absolutely Gutted for Bradley.

But we have to accept he's an injury prone player and we're probably going to have to get another Right Back long term.

 0

11 Jan 2026 12:30:52
Thoughts go out to Conor, joining Giovanni on the treatment table for the rest of the year.

Ramsay had some good performances at the start of the season, I wonder if he can use this opportunity?

But surely we need to dip into the market too for right sided defenders?

 9

11 Jan 2026 12:39:31
I'd like to see Ramsey given a chance, played well vs palace.

 7

11 Jan 2026 12:48:02
Sucks man.

 0

11 Jan 2026 12:54:39
We were looking at RB's prior to his injury Zed, I would expext that to ramp up. You know us tho mate, we will probably end up using Gomez or midfielder there and say it's fine, we don't need anyone.

 5

11 Jan 2026 12:55:17
Doubt Slot plays Ramsey mate but would like to see it.

 4

11 Jan 2026 13:18:38
Thankfully it isn't an ACL so hopefully he will recover fast and soon. Don't think we would see him back this season but hopefully he would be back in time for his country's World Cup campaign.

And we should definitely dip into the transfer market imp. We only have Gomez and Ramsay who are natural RBs in the squad and we need Gomez to cover for CB as well. Seeing as he is just back from injury himself, it would be wise to at least get a CB in. The only issue is who we can bring in though. January is notorious for being a difficult window and other than Guehi, I can't see there being any other options.

 2

11 Jan 2026 13:53:31
Gutted for the lad, it's such a shame injuries have stopped him from progressing. The lad has the potential to be an incredible player but I don't think we're ever going to see it because of the injuries. Still very young though so fingers crossed for him.

 5

11 Jan 2026 14:53:14
Ransay won't get a look in, otherwise Slot would have played him already.

Carabao Cup sacrificial lamb run out does not count.

 1

11 Jan 2026 19:42:16
I rate Bradley overall even tho, he has a lot to improve esp. his fitness levels. But this is not good at all. This is going to set him back a year or even longer. He's young so there is a good chance he makes a full recovery like Leoni.

Absolutely gutted for the lad.

Speedy recovery, Brad. YNWA;

 0

11 Jan 2026 12:27:00
So Bradley has sustained a significant knee injury, surely we will have to address the defensive situation at the club now in this window. Frimpong and Gomez aren't exactly robust, and Gomez is required for CB cover anyway. Will we go out to sign a RB?

 5

11 Jan 2026 12:45:13
Who do you think we should bring in that might be available? we need to bring people in (which I agree with) is easier to say than do, especially on the winter window. Might be worth looking at Palace or Spurs or Everton as their seasons were virtually finished yesterday.

 1

11 Jan 2026 12:55:54
Isn't this what the academy is for?

 1

11 Jan 2026 13:33:34
Guehi at 20M and Tsimi back from Roma.
McConnel from Ajax
Elliot from Villa maybe another loan

Get bodies .

 2

11 Jan 2026 13:35:50
Situations like this are what the academy is made for. Why spend tens of millions on a RB for a temporary solution. TAA got his first opportunity due to an injury crisis. Why have youth and academy players if you just got and buy to cover injuries.

 6

11 Jan 2026 13:54:22
Exactly my thoughts, Stuie.

 3

11 Jan 2026 13:58:58
Not disagreeing with you in principle on the academy front, that is after all how Trent got his chance. But do you actually see that happening? I don't. Slott didn't play anyone there when there were injuries last time so why will he now? It'll likely be robbing Peter to pay Paul again and we'll see Dom back there, drastically weakening the midfield.

Gomez can't play a stretch of games back to back and he clearly doesn't rate Ramsey or else he'd have had chances outside of the league cup.

 2

11 Jan 2026 14:11:24
I want to address the Arsenal scumbag and why none of our players went for him. As a manager said to us years one in and all in.

 1

11 Jan 2026 14:18:31
If I was the club I wouldn't be looking to buy a right back to be a temporary fix, I'd be buying someone to be the permanent first team regular now.

Bradley is too injury prone sadly, Frimpong isn't good enough at right back (although I like having him in the squad)
Rotating the 2 players hasn't really worked either.

So just go out and buy someone who's going to be reliable and do a good job there for us now.
Sounds harsh on Bradley but we can't keep relying on injury prone players like Gomez year after year sorry.

 3

11 Jan 2026 14:31:35
Problem is this is unlikely to be temporary, other than to get us through to the summer if we can't get anyone now. There doesn't seem to be anyone in the academy ready to step in or they would have already this or last season.

Connor has never had a run of games unfortunately, he has really struggled with injuries and we'll need to bring a permanent option in either now or in the summer.

 1

11 Jan 2026 14:41:49
Agreed Mikey. If we guy a player now, it wouldn't be just to cover for the injuries. We need reinforcements in the squad anyway and the injuries just made it more urgent that we do something about it now. We need a CB or two anyway so might as well get them in now while we can.

And I may be in the minority but I'm glad that none of our players went after Martinelli and turned it into a full on brawl. Neville suggesting that he got decked there and then is frankly unnecessary for me. Violence has no place on a football pitch for me.

 2

11 Jan 2026 14:55:08
100% agree mate, gutted for Bradley don't get me wrong but not convinced he's good enough! good games now and then isn't good enough, he's the new Gomez injury wise and he's prone to the odd head farts when decision making!

 1

11 Jan 2026 14:55:21
We shouldn't be keeping injury prone players in the squad. Stop giving them new contracts!

 0

11 Jan 2026 15:11:12
Same old problem though, the kids from the academy HAVE to be good enough. We have zero stand out RB's in the Academy at the moment.

 1

11 Jan 2026 15:43:23
Get all the points above, but in my opinion, you'll never know if the kids are good enough unless you give them the opportunity to prove themselves. Lots of people on here were raving about Danns, rightly or wrongly, because he was given a shot.
I cannot believe that one of the worlds top football clubs, after investing millions to upgrade the academy, doesn't have a single RB that could come in and do a job.

If they aren't producing, just shut it down and invest the savings into proven players if that's the case!

 0

11 Jan 2026 19:44:10
You're going to need a manager with the courage to play them in these situations. Klopp had the courage to do so and coach them up while giving them chances and allowing them to fail. Not sure this manager has that in him.

 0

11 Jan 2026 09:59:07
Might be Egypts best chance this year they've played pretty well, and beat there bogey team in Ivory Coast Mo might be coming back a champion.

With the injury's up top Mo playing as a striker could work in this team.

 3

11 Jan 2026 10:06:51
I doubt it, do you now how many changes he misses?

 5

11 Jan 2026 11:26:30
Mo was playing in a 2 up front yesterday don't know why he couldn't do it for us with either ekitike/ isak or even wirtz.

 6

11 Jan 2026 11:31:23
He might of been poor this year, Salah has always missed chances all the time but guess what he still usually gets double figures for goals all the time.

 5

11 Jan 2026 11:55:14
Egypt have beaten Cote d'Ivoire 11 out of 12 at AFCON- now that's my kinda bogey team.

 4

11 Jan 2026 12:05:12
Don't understand this rubbish about missing chances. If you take shots, you are going to miss some.

Also, just to debunk the above poster. his shot accuracy last year was 47%. His conversion rate (accounting for blocked shots) was 22%. For comparison, Isak who plays up front and not on the wing, had a conversion rate of 24% and shot accuracy of 46%. Now I understand last year was an outlier, but it's not the first time Salah has been in a purple patch.

Getting him closer to the goal and dovetailing off of either Isak or Ekitike with Wirtz and Sobz behind seems pretty good to me. At the very least, it should be tried.

 6

11 Jan 2026 12:19:20
Ivory Coast is Egypts boggie team? That actually made me laugh out loud, You will find out that Egypt is Ivory Coast's biggest boggie team of all time, in 9 meatings they've won once to Egypt's 7 wins. Salah has 4 goals and 2 assists so far in Afcon (should have been 6 assists) so Again Slot has been miss using the entire squad including Salah.

 4

11 Jan 2026 12:21:24
I dunno about that, i'm rooting for Egypt because of mo but nigeria and morocco are looking pretty good out there too.

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:29:27
Salah should be playing upfront for Liverpool in a 4/ 4/ 2 diamond for Liverpool

All this nonsense has cost us a league title.

 3

11 Jan 2026 12:29:47
20-25% conversion rate is about average for a good striker.

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:49:28
Senegal are more of a boded team for Egypt. They beat them in the AFCON Final and the last spot for the 22 WC within the space of a month, with Sadio being on the winning Senegal team for both matches. It took Mo months to recover his form.

 3

11 Jan 2026 13:05:38
I would like to know his shots on target ratio, obviously keepers save shots, but that got to be the big question, shot accuracy on target, then conversion rate too.

 2

11 Jan 2026 15:13:48
He's never played anywhere other than RW in his whole club career though has he? or am i missing something?

 1

11 Jan 2026 19:49:12
PB, Nigeria is a real threat, no doubt. They are very good in all 3 phases and most importantly, they play Kloppball and absolutely tear teams apart in transition with the green arrows Osihmen, Lookman and Adams, a true revelation from Seville.

You also have Alex Iwobi pulling the strings with Onyeka and Ndidi in the double pivot behind him. Brilliant to watch with 15 goals scored and 4 conceded, I think.

It's going to ba tough one vs the home team in the semis but football wise, they have all it takes to beat Morroco, IMO.

 0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - brilliant of Ndidi to come out and tell the team that if the Nigerian FA fails to pay their bonuses he will cover them.}

 1

11 Jan 2026 21:17:10
Ed01, Ndidi did that? In all my decades of following footie, I have never heard a player do that (not saying players never offerred to do so).

Ndidi is captain for a reason and he is well-respected as a near 10 year veteran in the national team and really, one of the good guys in Nigerian football, IMO.

As for the Nigerian FA, you can't shame the shameless so no point talking about them.

 0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he did that. Really impressed as that is a proper leader.}

 0

11 Jan 2026 09:15:03
Really hope we go all out in the FA cup. Winning that, top 4 and a decent run in the Champions league would be a decent return in the context of our season so far.

 9

11 Jan 2026 10:22:13
With you, DS15. I always want to do well in the FA Cup, though our managers haven't always shared the same view. Hope we go fairly strong, tomorrow, and not chuck 11 kids at it.

 5

11 Jan 2026 11:15:05
100%, DS.
If we're going to essentially crawl our way to the top 4 (hopefully), we have no excuse not go hell-for-leather in the remaining cups. We should be completely fresh as well, given how lethargic we've been up to now, but I doubt the overall fitness will enable it.

 2

11 Jan 2026 11:21:27
All out for the FA Cup? You do realise that none of the players that played against Arsenal on Thursday will play tomorrow. They won't even be on the bench as the only substituton was at the end after the unfortunate injury to Connor. If he wasn't injured its likely that sub would not have happend. The plan is obviously to play youth and some fringe players and rest all those that played against Arsenal aside from Gomez.

It will be a team who have never played together before, with inexperience and youth mixed in with bench players . Barnsley have a real chance tomorrow if they play their best 11 make no mistake . The FA Cup is not on Slots radar. Tomorrow's team will be up against it . The team will likely consist on Mama, Robbo, Gomez , Ramsey, Rio, Trey, Fede, Jones with 3 youth players filling the gaps in the starting 11 and 5 or 6 in the bench . There will be nothing to change the game should it be needed . The CB pairing will be Gomez and who knows. that's if Gomez doest break down after 15 minuets. Can see Barnsley having a cupset .

 3

11 Jan 2026 11:37:33
I agree mate. That Crystal Palace game was a disgrace. There's an opportunity to win a trophy and it should always be taken seriously.

 3

11 Jan 2026 11:58:47
Keep them coming, kimura.

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:11:49
Kimuraking, I wouldn't mind a bet that some of those that played Thursday will play tomorrow. Hopefully Slot learnt his lesson with Plymouth last season.

You're a cheery sole. Your posts always inspire me.

 4

11 Jan 2026 12:18:06
@kimuraking, not a bad team that, including 3 players who most posters have been crying out for game time (Chiesa, Rio, Nyoni) . Should be more than enough against Barnsley.

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:23:11
If we do happen to lose to Barnsley will you be happy or sad, kimuraking?

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:29:22
Kimura going by the u21's Friday night Liverpool will put out a strong team. You are talking nonsense.

 2

11 Jan 2026 12:49:11
Great inside info Kimura, thanks for sharing. Seriously though, Slot has to have learned from last year, hopefully there a good mix between youth and experience.

 1

11 Jan 2026 12:51:32
No midweek match so he should put a fairly decent team out . I would still expect reserve and bench players to start tho. Is McConnell back? Can he play?

 1

11 Jan 2026 12:56:30
@Kim, top notch stuff, that's three in a row were you don't think we have a chance. Are you actually sure that you are a fan of Liverpool? Would you care to comment on your most recent predictions + the 6 - 1 loss to Arsenal and the 2 - 0 loss to Fulham or do you not have the spine to say that you were wrong and you were talking utter rubbish? I suspect you are just waiting for us to lose a game so that you can say I told you so' and restart your 'Slot out' whinge.

 3

11 Jan 2026 13:22:09
"I can guarantee you that on Monday you will see all the players that you saw [on Thursday], maybe with some substitutions but then they will be on the bench. So that is going to be different than last season against Plymouth". - Arne Slot.

 3

11 Jan 2026 13:59:30
Kimura, do you care to comment regards to what Slot's said, highlighted in Darwins post? You really are the gift that keeps on giving, mate.

 3

11 Jan 2026 14:32:32
If anybody is having a miserable day - come on here, search for Kiruma's posts and you'll see - it could be worse.

 3

11 Jan 2026 19:09:08
Kim is more of a wet sole.
I'll resist the temptation to mention an other type of sole.

 1

10 Jan 2026 16:47:32
Hey Ed25

Trust you're well mate.

Just saw the replays of your pens against Sunderland.
I might have to watch them again. but those pens were some of the worst I've ever seen mate.

Thanks for putting the pressure on us to keep the Merseyside flag flying high in the FACup.

 6

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - they were abysmal JLC, Garner,s one was a very good save actually but the 2 from Millican and Nesbitt were a joke mate, i hope i find you and yours well my friend..

 5

10 Jan 2026 19:13:16
Not to worry @25 - you can concentrate on a big push to finish in the top half of the PL now.

 3

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i doubt we will get that high with this squad WDW..

 4

11 Jan 2026 03:21:30
Another false dawn, Ed?

 2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - it seems that way DE, the squad is threadbare mate but some of the players we have bought are nothing short of woeful, but we go again and live in hope rather than expectation..

 2

11 Jan 2026 11:38:43
Everton are like most teams in the league tbf. Struggle with squad depth because they have too many first team players paid huge amounts who just don't do enough to merit it each week. The squads are padded with either young or much lesser players, when injuries kick in the drop off is big.

There are very few teams who consistently outperform expectation. Brentford, Brighton and maybe Fulham are the exceptions.

 2

11 Jan 2026 08:29:55
I really thought Dibling would turn out to be a lot better than he has, ed.

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i know hes only young PB but he looks awful mate, runs as though he is playing on treacle and has that dozy manner about him like Kevin from "Kevin and Perry", we paid Β£40+M for him and it looks like we were ripped off big time mate..

 1

11 Jan 2026 10:26:55
When you find a manager ed025 whose basic instinct is success rather than survival then you'll have a chance to prosper. Until then looks like not.

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i think Moyes was appointed as a temporary measure last season to get us safe and consolidate us Avit, he fulfilled that brief but as you say if we are to progress im with you that we need a less pragmatic manager mate, but we also need better players and thats down to TFG to sort out..

 1

11 Jan 2026 11:37:31
Blimey Ed025
Millican and Nesbitt. That really is showing your age. Although that pair would probably have taken better penalties even at their age now.

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - absolutely Gaga, but even barring those pathetic penalties the 2 we have up front are not worth a J Arthur mate..

 1

11 Jan 2026 13:00:13
J Arthur Rank - showing your age there @25. You did make me laugh though - 2nd time in a week that someone on the forum has made me laugh which is a good sign following the interminable 'we are crap' theme,

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - yeah you have to be of a certain age WDW, i dont like all this gloom and doom mate either so try to lighten things up when i can mate.. :)

 1

11 Jan 2026 13:19:11
First step for your lot Ed25 should be getting rid of Moyes, he can't take you any further. Second step is getting some good players lol.

Plus side for you is that you're not in the position you were last season, it could be worse mate!

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - im with you on Moyes Salah, i never wanted him back mate..been there done that, he has fulfilled his brief i suppose but now i think its time to move on..

 2

11 Jan 2026 13:47:33
So many players taking penalties these days think they have to out think the goalkeeper and send him the wrong way. But then look stupid when the keeper makes a run of the mill save. Do players even practice penalties. Top bin left or right with a bit of pace surely increases the percentage of scoring.

Not everyone can score with a Pannenka. All this stop start then follow up with weak shot. Should take a leaf out of Henry or Pires technique. Oh wait, maybe not.

 0

11 Jan 2026 14:44:35
Grealish has flattered to deceive a bit as well hasn't he, started well but hasn't really sustained it. A couple of times I've watched Everton this season he didn't look particularly fit, but he's never been quick so it's hard to tell.

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - he does a very good job for us Hugo, not blessed with speed but hardly ever loses the ball and sets up some great chances for others, i just wish he would come inside more and have a few more shots mate..

 0

11 Jan 2026 19:55:28
With Everton, it's the world as we know it, I guess.

 0

11 Jan 2026 22:37:30
I remember watching England in the World Cup with Chris Waddle playing on the right side looking about 2 stones overweight. There was a shot of him where he was bent slightly doubled over with his hands on his hips sucking in the big ones.

The commentator picked up on it and said they must be suffering with all the effort in the heat and humidity and he said before they came out to the WC Waddle had tested as the fittest player in the squad, which still makes me laugh.

I mention this because Grealish reminds me a lot of Waddle in some ways. Both technically very good, but both prone not to over exerti themselves.

When Everton don't have the ball they are down to 10 men straight away (well 9 if you count Barry) but watch Grealish if he is in shot, he just strolls about. He is a good player in a very good team but he's a liability in an average team. He's nice to have but he isn't what you need at the moment.

Endo
When are going to finish your post?

 1

11 Jan 2026 13:19:59
He isn't going to finish it, Gaga - he's a chicken 😁.

 2

11 Jan 2026 19:56:02
Err, and who would this be?

 0

10 Jan 2026 15:25:36
I have a question if eds1 or anyone else can answer it correctly.
If a team say Liverpool are in the opponent s box and there's a handball, all Liverpool players shout for a penalty but the ref doesn't see it, the game carry's on and VAR are looking at it then other team goes up the other end and score straight away before VAR have made a decision.

Then VAR decides it was deliberate handball what would happen. Does the game go back for a penalty and the goal doesn't stand? Or something else.

 1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - game goes back for the handball and the goal never happened.}

 7

11 Jan 2026 11:56:38
This actually happened in a game in Holland between Vitesse and Feyenoord. Vitesse had a penalty claim but the referee played on. Feyenoord then went up the pitch and scored. VAR were checking the penalty incident and advised the referee to review which he did. He then awarded Vitesse a penalty which they scored and ruled out the goal for Feyenoord.

I really like the look of Sadiki from Sunderland, would be my pick for midfield addition.

Good player him, hard working, defensively switched on, good on the ball, good engine.

Are you feeling alright Victor πŸ™‚
Agreed, looks a top player.

10 Jan 2026 17:11:25
I think he's brilliant ED and Vik, Sunderland have done incredible business, Xhaka gets a lot of the plaudits but Sadiki is an unbelievable player. Vik have to say your 'more like a golden shower' comment the other day made me laugh out loud, well played. πŸ˜‚.

Yeh very good.

He's the kind of player I'm thinking of when I say adding physicality and defensive nous to our midfield. Looks an absolute steal and good scouting by Sunderland.

10 Jan 2026 21:59:09
Yeah Viktor, Stevie Wonder could see we are lacking that presence! I'm not behind the Wharton clamour as doesn't add that, albeit a tidy player but not what we need. I'd be over the moon if Sadiki links cropped up for summer.

Viktor
Just out of interest, who would be your pick in the summer for the following:

Combative Midfielder -

Centre Back -

Left Side (Gakpo gets sold) -

Right Side (Mo finally goes to KSA) -.

Whartons chance creation stats are good, so perhaps he's wanted by us for that as much as his ability to generally knit things together.

When I've seen him live he hasn't stood out massively but that's partly to do with him being fairly understated style wise. He doesn't seem to be a player who goes crunching into tackles or is dynamic in his running, whereas some of these other guys bring that to the pitch and stand out because if it.

Ideally you'd have both styles in the middle, but we also need to keep a place for Szob and Grav.

I think the midfielder we need is somebody like Wharton in style and profile but who doesn't cost so much and isn't as injury prone. Again I think the answer is Angelo stiller.

Yan Diomande laying his cards on the table about wanting to come to us is nice to see in the public forum.

10 Jan 2026 13:14:38
Off course he is a move to the richest league in the World sets you up for life. But apart from that he's having a good season so far. Can he consistently do that?

 1

10 Jan 2026 13:39:39
Looks like he could be something special and would insert some serious speed to our flanks but seems a season or two too soon. Premier League is a different animal. Curious to see what people think though.

10 Jan 2026 13:57:05
Malick Fofana and now Yan Diomande dreaming of playing for Liverpool at Anfield. We need two wingers over the next two windows.

Job done.

Man City player by the end of the month.

10 Jan 2026 14:58:19
I've read that the quote from fofana's agent isn't actually real? Or that the person quoted isn't actually his agent (fofana is represented by roc nation), of course he could be a Liverpool fan but the individual quoted is apparently not his representative.

10 Jan 2026 15:19:37
Patrik - this may be true, but he rejected Everton, so I choose to believe! :)

 3

10 Jan 2026 16:19:23
I think we were interested in Fofana in the summer and he was open to the move to the point that Forrest was in for him and he stayed at Lyon instead. Or at least, this is what I read.

 2

10 Jan 2026 17:13:26
I will hazzard a guess and say there is a lot of players out there who are LFC fans, means nothing tho unless we are interested in them.

11 Jan 2026 04:00:37
Eze is a gunner, almost signed for spurs. Semenyo is a gunner, off to city. I think it's not a very big consideration for the modern footballer.

11 Jan 2026 19:16:52
Diomande laying his cards on the table by saying he wants to join us. He's showing some heart doing that but if he has talent in spades, as I've heard, the more clubs will be interested.
I reckon they'd have to be flush to afford him but if he can guarantee a full house they should go all in for him.

Was just reading that Enriques contract at PSG ends this summer and he hasn't signed a new deal. Not sure if it's just paper bull. So potentially that would be both Enrique and Alonso available in the summer. Good options if we are removing Slot.

 8

10 Jan 2026 12:10:15
But according to the slot sympathisers no one is ready to replace such a terrible manager.

 7

10 Jan 2026 12:20:40
When is Alonso available? Only joined last summer and is now back on track.

 3

10 Jan 2026 12:40:35
Slotthedross, the key word in Red Jones' post is "potentially". And you're right, Slot is a terrible manager. He's only won titles in 2 different countries. Do you actually support Liverpool or are you a troll, given your username? If you're a disgruntled season ticket holder, accept my apologies for having a pop.

 7

10 Jan 2026 13:14:32
@Dross, I see what's happened. You just didn't read or understand what has been said.

The conversation was that if we got rid of Slot mid-season, there weren't any viable candidates to make a difference for the remainder of the season.

The conversation also looked at the options if Slot were to be removed at the end of the season and Alonso was identified as a suitable (at least to a fair percentage of contributors to this forum) candidate to fill the position. As has been mentioned there is now another likely candidate and, I suspect more candidates will be mentioned and perhaps considered by 5he club should they wish to replace Slot in the summer.

Not sure where you got the idea that Slot couldn't be replaced.

I think Enrique's contract runs until 2027.

The talking point is about rumours of him not wanting to sign the "lifetime" contract PSG are putting on the table, which naturally leads people to look at his previous quotes of him wanting to manage a team in the Premier League one day.

 2

10 Jan 2026 14:42:19
Red Jones - His contract doesn't actually run out until 2027 but media has speculated that he will leave this Summer due to the fact that he hasn't resigned. He has previously stated he would like to work in the Prem if the right opportunity arises and conveniently enough, both Enrique and Guardiola's contracts expire at the same time. There's no way he;s picking us over City.

Currently, there's no reason to expect Real to sack Alonso, 2nd in la liga, 4 points of Barca, only lost 2 league games so far. Let's not forget Alonso already turned us down one, and that was just to stay at Leverkusen. People really need to reel in their expectations, besides, if we get Champions League Slot's not going anywhere.

10 Jan 2026 14:53:21
According to the slot sympathisers his contract runs till 2027.

10 Jan 2026 16:13:40
No way he's picking us over City? Klopp picked us over many offers.

 0

10 Jan 2026 16:20:14
He's off to City when Pep leaves, I reckon.

11 Jan 2026 11:18:12
You do know it's not summer yet, Slotthedross?

10 Jan 2026 11:03:26
SG next time that you're up in this neck of the woods I'll meet you Lillywhite Lounge for a 🍻.

 2

10 Jan 2026 12:02:53
Stevie Gerrard?

 3

10 Jan 2026 12:47:33
That's it Darwin. Myself, SG and Stephen Staunton always go for pints in the Lillywhite whenever he visits El Paso.

It's a date Bazza!, I'll be up there sometime in the next couple of months! We can make a detour to Seans Tavern if you're brave enough! 🀣🀣πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ We should cajole ED25 to join us as the odd one out! 🀣.
