Mo has C.V.

1.) 13 Nov 2020 15:26:23
Can we just end the season now.

2.) 13 Nov 2020 15:34:39
On the plus side, he can’t get injured now.

3.) 13 Nov 2020 15:47:31
on plus side it during international, Mane and Salah won't be missing anymore games.

4.) 13 Nov 2020 16:55:48
It’s crazy that international matches are going on given the C.V. situation and likelihood of injuries. How can flying players all around the world in the current environment be justified given the risks?

5.) 13 Nov 2020 17:05:50
People can catch it more than once Riomazy!

6.) 13 Nov 2020 17:29:46
To be fair the number of re-infected cases is so low statistically they would not be considered significant. Very much positive from the immunity side of things, but yes some could be really unlucky.

7.) 13 Nov 2020 22:22:19
All I say is I’m extremely disappointed in mo just seen the video of him at his brothers wedding so many people there ridiculous.

8.) 15 Nov 2020 15:34:47
Longthing76. Immunity gained via challenge lasts around 90 days.

Eds do you know if we have any interest in Ben Wilmot? the 19 year old CB at Stevenage?

{Ed002's Note - I had been told (but took no notice) that a move to Watford could be agreed for the kid. With Liverpool's transfer ban I am not sure how they could complete the transfer right now. Certainly Spurs were interested as well.}

1.) 12 Apr 2018 09:54:38
When is the ban over?

{Ed002's Note - April 2019 although they can sign players this coming summer if there are (a) no open charges, (b) no further infractions, and (c) the club can demonstrate that they made the payments that they were committed to.}

2.) 12 Apr 2018 11:17:30
I really hope this ban was a wake up call to Liverpool, no one can try and brush over what we did. It was wrong!

But I hope not only does this reform how we are to young players but that it is a lesson to all clubs. Kids aren’t just assets to buy they need to be treated as proper humans!

3.) 12 Apr 2018 11:07:24
Thanks Ed!

4.) 12 Apr 2018 13:06:49
So he can sign in the summer then.

{Ed002's Note - As I said, if there are (a) no open charges, (b) no further infractions, and if (c) the club can demonstrate that they made the payments that they were committed to. This of course if Liverpool are interested.}

Ed01 what's your opinion on Michael Olise? some rumours linking him to Liverpool looks to be another one coming from the championship that has a bright future.

{Ed001's Note - he is alright, looks like he is ready for a step up, but no more than that to me.}

31 Mar 2021 12:18:20
Ed01 what's your opinion on ox? should we keep him or do you think he just won't be able to get back into this team? if he is able to stay fit I do believe he is a great option to have none of the other midfielders can drive with the ball at there feet like he can. I have noticed when he has come on as a sub Klopp has put him upfront at CF could be something there for him.

{Ed001's Note - if he can stay fit he is a keep. He is a different type of midfielder who can cover a number of positions, it is only fitness that is the issue.}

1.) 31 Mar 2021 13:51:35
Rather than an opinion I thought I would offer two facts. In ten full Premiership seasons Chamberlain has never started more than 17 matches in any one season. He averages 10.1 starts per season across his PL career.

2.) 31 Mar 2021 14:59:33
I like Ox but a big one for me is his wages. If the internet is to be believed he is our 9th best paid player in the squad. I know these players are made for money but players like Mane, Wiji, Fab, Trent, Robbo must surely look at Ox and Naby etc being paid more than them and hardly contributing on the pitch over a sustained period of time. Regardless of how much money someone earns there’s always the green eyed monster. If there wasn’t then why do the billionaires / millionaires and every financially made sport star always want more.

3.) 31 Mar 2021 20:12:35
I’m with jk on this he seems a top lad but like Keita he’s on big money and is more out then in he’s got to go if u ask me! No time for sentimental carry on fresh fit blood we need!

4.) 01 Apr 2021 07:54:09
FSG are pretty frugal with money I can’t see there not being some sort of long term injury clause in player’s contracts? Sort of ssp? It’s never bothered me the finances can’t see it bothering players either otherwise the would be mutiny at most clubs .

{Ed077's Note - the only finances the players should be worried about is can they pay the players and staff

30 Mar 2021 09:44:32
do you not think this stuff coming out about Konate might make Kabak think what's the point they are not going to sign me at the end of this? or it might make him kick on and force the clubs hand to keep him.

1.) 30 Mar 2021 10:48:16
Well I don’t think Shalke want him back so he might think he needs to find a club this summer that will take him on, so he might put in the extra effort to make him attractive to buyers.

2.) 30 Mar 2021 11:42:19
Or maybe we sign both, sell Matip and Davies?

Then we have VVD, Konate, Gomez, Kabak and Phillips.

VVD is in his prime (29/ 30) and cost us (as we all know! ) £75m.

The other 4 are aged 20-24 and (if we get Konate for around £30-£35m) and would have cost us a combine c£55m and are all great prospects with good sell on values in the future.

Seems to me to be the sensible, FSG approach.

3.) 30 Mar 2021 11:53:20
Don't think konate rumors have anything to them. Again we keep forgetting we need to meet homegrown target criteria too.

4.) 30 Mar 2021 12:45:07
I thought quite the opposite. Considering James Pearce and Paul Joyce have both practically confirmed we are interested and looking to seal a deal confirms that something is happening.

Leipzig's boss also commenting on the link by then reiterating that the player is under contract, and just today Konate's agent speaking to The Athletic (those who broke the story) that he expects big deals for 3-4 of his clients makes me think there's certainly substance.

The rumour coming from the Athletic after speaking to his agent would also make a lot of sense.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new about Konate - search the site.}

5.) 30 Mar 2021 13:27:18
Why would Kabak think so and not put in the effort, OP? Not sure BUT I do not think for a second that Kabak would want to go back to a Schalke team that is damn near certain, to be relegated. So of couse, this will give him the kick up the backside to keep playing well, as he has been doing for both club and country.

Also, this is a great opportunity to stake his claim for a squad position at CB at a HUGE club that win things. What's not to like? If these are not incentives for him to do all he can to convince the coaches and managers that he deserves to be kept then, nothing else will.

6.) 30 Mar 2021 13:52:21
Exactly. Why would Kabak be thinking that he's VVD or Gomez/ Matip level, and consequently feel disheartened? He's only 20 and still has a long way to go. If anything his first few games would have opened his eyes as to what it's like playing in the best league on the planet. And hopefully spurred him on to raise his game. Talent, by itself and without the hard work with it, gets you nowhere.

18 Mar 2021 10:27:24
with some potential rumours on Berg being an option out of the clubs to be potentially relegated and if they where willing to sell who would you take?

Berg, Ender, Basham

Pereria, Diangana

Anderson, Aarabioyo, Aina, Angiussa, Lookman, Bryan

Lewis, Longstaff, Saint Maximin

a lot of good talent playing for these clubs depending on players leaving could be something the club looks to.

1.) 18 Mar 2021 12:10:31
Possibly Berge but would depend on who were to leave in midfield.

I like the look of Andersen at Fulham as a back up CB but he's only on loan so wouldn't benefit from their relegation in signing him.

You are right there are some good players in there, but how many would get in at City? That's the level of squad cover we need, genuine title winning quality. The players listed are good PL players, but players in a winning PL team? I don't think they are. Obviously we got some success in Gini and Robbo buying this way and just my opinion on the above crop.

Love the question though.

2.) 18 Mar 2021 12:16:23
All depends on finances and who leaves really mate but there really isn't a lot of quality in the teams going down. Baldock and Stevens at Sheffield United would suit us as back ups to Trent and Robbo. They both have to offer width and get back in defensively just like our two lads. There is nothing at any of the clubs going down to threaten our starting XI though. The reason they are where they are is because the only player at any of those 4 clubs who scores goals at this level, is Callum Wilson who is a cripple.

3.) 18 Mar 2021 13:48:38
Saint maximan, berge and arabyio.

4.) 18 Mar 2021 15:05:46
Not Saint Maximain. He is terrible. A much more frail version of Traore with just a bit more end product even tho, Traore has virtually none. I love Lookman and always have since his Everton days and I think he is quality. Berghe would my pick of the lot cos Klopp was already interested in him before he came here and having watched him a lot, he is a very interesting player, indeed.

5.) 18 Mar 2021 15:41:54
Great question OP! I honestly don’t think there’s a lot of quality to use a foreign player spot in a squad that is already tight in that regard.
Among English players I wouldn’t mind Lookman, Lewis (if the gaffer thinks Tsimikas is not good enough) .

11 Mar 2021 10:31:00
there was a post further down asking Ed002 when Nats contract was up, his agent group has just confirmed its not this year so think his contract is up in 2022 maybe even 2023.

1.) 11 Mar 2021 10:57:54
He deserves a new contract.

2.) 11 Mar 2021 11:06:47
Has the lad done anything wrong when given the opportunity? I don't think so and while I don't see him being first choice I'd rather seem him at the club next season than matip.

Also heard him the called the 'Bolton baresi' which made me laugh.

3.) 11 Mar 2021 11:51:04
Mate I’d be more than happy with Phillips as cover. Unfortunately feel like the time has come to cut ties with Matip. Like him as a player but just can’t be relied on.

4.) 11 Mar 2021 12:00:55
Made of water is the popular phrase I believe.

5.) 11 Mar 2021 12:34:49
Matip won't be here next season, IMO so there are prolly two spots up for grabs in the summer cos I do not think Kabak will be kept. Things could change tho.

6.) 11 Mar 2021 15:56:16
It will be difficult to move Matip on. Injuries and good wages aren't what a club is looking for.

7.) 11 Mar 2021 16:14:31
Even though there's improvement in Kabak's play (almost every game, I think) is he as good as Matip? I don't think so, although I would be more than happy to be wrong. A CB group of VVD, Gomez, Kabak and Phillips for next season? I don't think so.

8.) 11 Mar 2021 20:17:49
Sorry but Phillips is not a top 4 defender not even top 4 back up defender particularly for the style we play, im struggling to think of a defender less suited to a high line! As ed has already stated, match made in heaven for a Burnley or someone where he can camp out in his own box stay compact and head away crosses for fun but he is way to slow for our style of play, can't pass out from back and gets caught out of position regularly trying to nick the ball ahead of the attacker leaving an acre of space in behind that he can't get back and cover. In my opinion phillips looks great against teams who go more direct or use a big centre forward like RBL did last night. I was one calling for JK to move Fab out of CB but after watching Phillips in last few games I can see why JK didn't trust him. My hope is that phillips can learn on the job to overcome his lack of pace and learn to drop off and accept some balls are not there to be won but im not hopeful!

9.) 12 Mar 2021 08:38:31
Dow please explain exactly what Phillips is doing wrong that you don’t trust him? I’m not saying he’s a top 4 quality starter but he seems more than capable for back up. Strong, commanding, reads set pieces well and decent on the ball. I literally don’t see how you form this opinion.

The money involved would be astronomical for Sancho, I personally think the clubs mindset should be about finding someone who can compete with bobby up top and replace him in the future while integrating Elliot into the first team theirs 3 positions upfront to compete for

Salah, Bobby, Mane, Jota, Elliot and a new number 9,

Salah is an absolute machine and entering into some of his prime years now and doesn't look like slowing down he will always score goals, Mane has had a rough time this year but he is still a fantastic player, Bobby just like Mane is having a tough time but he is a brilliant player and will come back into form, Jota is fantastic its a shame he got injured early otherwise I think he would of had double the goals he has now. Elliot does look like he could be special.

Konate does look great, but you want to replace Matip who is injury prone in your eyes with another injury prone player?

Matip - 396 days missed due to injury so far since 16/ 17 season
Konate - 405 days missed due to injury so far since 17/ 18 season

CB options next year will be VVD, JG, JM, OK Phillips will be sold as will Davies.

Agreed Ed002 we don't need a world beater at the moment we need an experienced body to come in for 6 months and go from there, do you think Klopp would move for a free agent or go with what he has? how are you during this C.V.? still in the UK?

{Ed002's Note - Subotic would be the ideal solution to the immediate issue but would need to exclude Virgil van Dijk or another from the squad in order to add him.}

Liverpool will have a difficult time trying to move players on this summer I think a few players are coming to the end of there careers/ at an impasse a need playing time or just need to move on for the sake of there careers
Adrian - thanks for the super cup but is at the back end of his career
Milner - yes I love the guy but he might want to think about playing a season for leeds or staying with us, on big wages
Origi - scored some important goals but doesn't really get a game for us needs to move to play week in week out
Phillips - done well so far this year but will be moved on
Gini - seems to be like the club and player can't agree so should move on
Karuis - need a complete refresh
Grujic - messed about by us needs a fresh start (do think he'll become a top player)
Wilson - messed about by us
Taiwo - never going be able to play for us
Larouci - wanted to leave anyway
Lewis - needs move on for his sake to kick start his career
Arroyo - never going to play for us.

Its a shame Ox has been injured and lost form, he is the only player I've seen in the team that drives with the ball and has a shot on him.

Gini for Milly will be the only change I think

Jota has played a lot of football last two weeks since coming back from injury he'll get on at 60 min and run madrid ragged.

Totally Agree Ed077 but I would give him the benefit of the doubt moving to a new club and adapting to a different style of play, looks to be a talent!

David plays for Lille bud, not to sure if your getting him mixed up with Doku at Rennes, 30 games 9 goals 2 assists in his first season with Lille is pretty decent.

{Ed077's Note - David did struggle during the first half of the season and has only found form after Christmas.

If we are talking what would be nice to have next year, signing Konate, Jonathan David or Leon Bailey would be fantastic prob massively unrealistic

GK - Alisson, Kelleher, Pitaluga
Rb - TAA, Neco
CB - VVD, Gomez, Konate, Kabak, Davies
LB - Robbo, Tsimikas
CM - Fabs, Hendo, Thiago, Jones, Ox, Keita, Grujic
Forwards - Salah, Bobby, Mane, Jota, Taki, David or Bailey

Players to be sold
Adrian, Gini, Shaq, Origi, Phillips, Matip, Milly, Ojo, Wilson, Karius, Awoniyi, Millar, Lewis, Arroyo, Woodburn

Players to be loaned
Rhys, Sepp, Elliot

David or Bailey would be fantastic additions to the squad maybe leaning towards bailey more since he can play across the entire front line as would Konate be if he is over his injury's, I feel Elliot should be loaned for one more year playing in the premier league.
