As of after PSV, the only interim that was immediately available was Gary O'Neil, former Wolves.

Hughes Edwards stepping up efforts to find appropriate interim. Slot might get Xmas if we avoid embarrassing big defeats.

The club's scouting delegation flew out to Denmark and one player they were assessing was M21-year-ol's 21-year-old defender Ousmane Diao.
Diao scored, siding his side to a clean sheet and a 6-0 victory in what was pretty much the perfect performance. Despite his young age, Diao already has over 100 senior appearances under his belt. He's played over 50 games for Midtjylland and has proved to be a threat from set-pieces scoring 10 goals during his time with the club so far.
On the ball, he's a composed defender. He can hit it long and make cross-field switches that help progress his side quickly into advantageous positions. His accuracy when finding teammates with long passes is also very good.
His biggest strength is his speed. Diao is insanely fast, and he's very quick at surrounding his attacker to completely swallow up their space.
He's strong in his duels, sticks tight to his opponents and is very good at taking the ball from them using his upper body strength and his long legs to pry the ball away from their feet. At 21-years-old, he's not the finished article, but there's so much to like about him.

He can and has also played as a right-back. He can play as a defender in a back four and in a back three as well. His best position is the RCB role, where he covers a lot of ground and defends the channels really well.
He could improve his aerial duels and he doesn't quite win as much as he should.
Overall, he has exciting potential. His speed makes him an ideal candidate for the Premier League and an ideal replacement for Konate. In fact he could even be a replacement for Gomez because of his ability to play in the right-back role.
The fact that Liverpool are now watching him live would suggest the club are taking steps to make a move for him and seriously considering him as a potential option.

Sounds interesting mc. Something for January would you think or the summer maybe. Hopefully as an addition to guehi, semenyo and ederson.

04 Dec 2025 21:59:04
He sounds like a potential beast. Cheers for the info mate. Hopefully its something awesome. Much prefer the idea of finding gems as opposed to spending the world on so called “proven” players.

@aoe, spot on, identify young talent with bags of potential every time for me, especially those who want to come to the club rather than for the money.

Theres a Macca on twitter posted that he's been sacked,
Dunno if he's our Macca that used to post regular but he certainly types his messages in the same way he did here,
Suppose we'll see soon one way or another.

Something has to give. We’re just dreadful on and off the ball. LFC currently sinking like a bloody stone.

What’s the twitter / X username?

Never like to see a manager get the boot, but we have been awful for quite a while now and needs to go.

Yesterday showed the players have lost faith in him and aren’t putting the effort in.

 7

04 Dec 2025 10:47:06
If he does get sacked?

What makes that game different from all the other ones where he should’ve been sacked before?

It’s weeks/ months too late.

 10

04 Dec 2025 11:55:46
LFC8. Because he won us our second premier league title in 30 years a few months ago with zero spending. Say what you want about Klopps squad but Slot delivered last year. Plus he's had to cope with huge overhaul, unbalanced squad, a tragic event, and its still only 14 league games of which the first 5 were wins (albeit lucky ones) .

The suits were correct to give him a chance to get this right but yes, its now coming to the time where they should move him on. At this stage, I personally see him as a caretaker manager while they suss out the Alonso situation and weigh up the likes of Iraola. We as fans need to chill out- FSG will not accept missing out on CL and will be ruthless.

 17

04 Dec 2025 11:55:51
I think because it was widely reported before WestHam that he had to achieve very positive results over the next 3 games. Losing or drawing at home not acceptable right now. Particularly in the manor we played. He has key players for a different formation, he needed the bollocks to flip it.

 4

04 Dec 2025 12:04:27
I’m starting to think Slot was a caretaker manager last season. He took great care of Klopp’s team and made them tactically better. His team, Hughes team, ain’t a team. They’re a mess. We need someone who can unravel the mess.

 5

04 Dec 2025 12:12:08
I did a quick google search, came up with @N_Macca74 who said "Win Leeds or Slot will be sacked…. according to Carra. ". Then shows a sky sports news report. So not what op said but perhaps I found the wrong thing.

04 Dec 2025 12:13:53
Seems a weird one as I've just looked for the link and can't find it or the account it was posted on, the account had lots of previous posts about LFC and about a local club too but I can't seem to access it now,
Strange, but definitely was typed in the manner that I assumed it was our Macca.
Ah well, it is a rumours site, let's see what happens, personally if the people running the club can't see what's wrong then there's deeper issues, its a results business and we've become a soft touch, and at home too which is unforgivable.

I don't take with all this 'hes got 3 games' nonsense, If its not working its not working, what else do we do? Constantly throw m9ney at it till Slots happy? Sounds a bit Erik Ten Blag to me.
Chin up fellas, something has to give right?

 1

04 Dec 2025 12:35:05
Nah, he's still here.

 2

04 Dec 2025 12:40:58
Has everybody seen the official club announcement that Slot has been sacked?

 1

04 Dec 2025 12:50:58
Not seen anything on sky or lfc tv, you got a link for it?

 2

04 Dec 2025 13:35:47
Ste G for Xmas🙏
He is not the answer but at least he will instill a fighting spirit.

 5

04 Dec 2025 16:01:22
Clearly turned out to be drivel then,
Ah well, like I said it is a rumours site, Just passing on what I saw first thing and was curious with it being tagged with Macca.
Lets see what happens next.

 1

04 Dec 2025 16:46:27
Arne Slot has not been sacked.

 0

04 Dec 2025 18:26:53
Which is why I asked had anybody seen the official club announcement about his sacking earlier in the day. Obviously he hasn’t been sacked because it would have been announced by the club and not by dubious accounts on social media.

I read it as “Macca has been sacked”

Whip round for Macca?

@25, it’s a bit like the old saying …‘Smile, they said, things could be worse, So I smiled and things got worse’

Ah well, the weekend’s on the horizon and Leeds are going to get a damn good thrashing, what could possibly go wrong?

Its a rumours site WDW or didn't you get the memo?

 1

04 Dec 2025 21:27:17
Slot he has no connection with the fans and doesn’t really seem too fussed about establishing one. Doesn’t have the bearing and vibe of a Liverpool manager.

 2

04 Dec 2025 21:54:49
Agree @25 - I would have got rid a couple of weeks back.

@Rum Lad, who do you think will make it known that Slot has been sacked, if it happens. Before regurgitating sh*te from social media it is possible to question if what is written is true, or do you not think questioning things is a good idea?

 0

05 Dec 2025 01:29:36
I was passing on a rumour WDW, I assume you know what one is?
What I think of it is irrelevant.
I heard a rumour Elvis was still alive, doesn't mean I believe it, but I'd still pass it on and itd still only be a rumour right?

03 Dec 2025 17:57:29
Hearing word that Salah is benched. Huge statement from Slot.

 8

03 Dec 2025 19:03:12
You weren't wrong, im going for a 3-1 win tonight.

 0

03 Dec 2025 19:05:01
He should be as well. He’s struggled sadly, don’t know what up with him but he can’t complain just be ready… teams out and I think that’s right and good management.

 3

03 Dec 2025 19:09:11
Good. I don't understand how he's been so untouchable and how his petulance at being subbed has ever been tolerated. This season he must have broken records for possession lost stats. To be clear, this isn't to take away the legacy, but Mo Salah is not as big as Liverpool Football Club. Good job Tris took away the down vote button, by the way.

 5

03 Dec 2025 19:32:44
Mo won the league for us last season following the conversation he had with Slot. He is also the most affected by the changes to the side, which can no longer be built around him.

People need to remember what he's done for 9 season's before uttering any negativity though. Im all for him being used sparingly, and even to sell him to the Saudi's in the summer if he'll go but let's keep it real.

 28

03 Dec 2025 21:04:41
Well we've been absolutely fantastic without him, haven't we?

 11

03 Dec 2025 21:44:52
All this rubbish that Salah has lost his legs blah blah blah. You don’t go from the most G/ A to a few months later being rubbish. It’s Slot’s inept tactics that are the root cause.

 20

03 Dec 2025 22:19:06
Slot should be benched.

 11

03 Dec 2025 22:34:03
I don’t think anybody with any sense is saying that Salah is rubbish @Frode. I think Salah has shown that he is quite a sensitive person in the past - when Egypt lost in the AFCON Final and then a month or so later failed to qualify for the World Cup - and he took quite a while to regain his confidence / form. This season he has been impacted by the death of Diogo - as shown by the tears in front of the Kop at the end of our first home PL game, allied to the fact that the new set-up means he’s no longer the focal point of the attack has damaged his confidence again. He is never (fully) effective when his confidence is shot and a new factor is that he has been building up the years on the clock, which almost invariably means the peak playing days get fewer and further between.

I wholeheartedly agree that he was the major factor in us winning the league and I still think he has a role to play - impact player off the bench against tired defences perhaps - but at present he doesn’t merit a starting spot in the team.

 6

03 Dec 2025 22:52:12
The fixation on Salah amazes me.
If you have a go at VVD, Macca, Konate, Gakpo, as much as you have a go at Salah, then I'd agree.

Our results and performances are not down to 1 single player. But because our performances are so rubbish, it's all down to our manager.

 14

03 Dec 2025 23:24:42
WDW I don’t agree with anything you’ve said. Yeah Salah hasn’t been great but not a single player in the squad has been great, minus maybe Szobo. The lunacy of putting our bad form down to Salah has been laughable. I’ll reiterate, it’s Slot’s tactics that are to blame for Salah’s form.

Salah needs quick and direct balls into feet or the channels. Not 30,000 passes where the entire front line are drowned out. Why do you think Isak only has about five touches a game.

 12

03 Dec 2025 23:59:16
Frode you're talking rubbish. Salah is not the same player. We got away with his lack of pressing and defensive work last season. Not this one.

 1

04 Dec 2025 05:45:43
Salah said himself that we Slot first came in, he told Salah that he doesn't have to work as much defensively as Klopp wanted him to.

So Frode has a point wrt the blame being the tactics. Yes, it may not be the sole reason, but Salah can't be blamed for something that he is instructed to do

It's just not Salah, its most of the squad that has fallen off. that points to tactics and training.

 5

04 Dec 2025 07:13:17
It isn’t solely tactics with Mo. You can see when he receives the ball there’s hesitation, he makes more misjudgements, and he just can’t beat a man. They’re all major problems with a wide player. I don’t know if we could tweak his position slightly and bring him infield a bit, but apart from that it’s difficult to see how he gets rebooted.

 2

04 Dec 2025 07:52:01
Mo was given the platform last season. I don’t think it’s right to say he carried us to the league. As we can see now and in other seasons we’ve gone on bad run of form, he isn’t carrying sh*t.

 2

04 Dec 2025 08:09:01
Ste G as caretaker for Xmas. gets us 4th via blood, guts and effort. Alonso in the summer to add the artisan factor, if he flunks at Real.

 2

04 Dec 2025 11:48:35
All the players have certainly lost confidence even VVD and Mo but the tactics that Slot uses are just boring and pedestrian i don't even think the players like the style, we look good when we play fast but this is just drudgery. and the old saying about the definition of madness .

doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result really rings true.
the Klopp era seems a million miles away now.
If we could just put a run together we would be up there but it won't happen with these tactics.

 0

04 Dec 2025 20:00:03
I thought VVD was very poor against Sunderland. Sloppy pass gave the ball away that led to their goal and he seemed to be spending most of his time throwing his hands up in the air and complaining. For the team (and his country’s) captain his attitude was very poor.

03 Dec 2025 09:38:51
Morning All,

Guehi still has his heart set on the move to Anfield. He has been told we will be back for him Jan. I wouldn't be worried about other teams chasing him.

Outside of Semenyo and Guehi, we are also looking at options for CM and RB. No major signings for either positions I'm told in Jan but we may see a cheaper backup option come in.

Slot, again the club continue to back him. Nothing will change unless we go on a losing streak again but his position will be reviewed regardless come the summer.

Salah. Something I've heard and I have said it before on here recently. It is expected he will leave in the summer. He was due to walk away in the summer on a free, some players were bought with that in mind but he signed a new contract because he didn't want to leave the way the other idiot did and tarnish his legacy. That wouldn't of happened to him tho, that's only reserved for people who are local and then act like rats.

Both Wharton and Baleba are being looked at for the summer. Real are expected to come knocking for one of Grav or Macca.

Endo, Bajcetic can also leave if they want to.

Great info thefields. much appreciated.

 5

03 Dec 2025 11:54:04
That all seems pretty sensible.

 3

03 Dec 2025 11:54:55
Nice one fields.

Ta.

 25

03 Dec 2025 12:02:19
Thanks TheFields!

 3

03 Dec 2025 12:03:12
Semenyo and Guehi would be great additions - battle ready for the prem.
Im surprised Baj isn't going to get a chance. He can be excellent, at times.
Thanks Thefields.

 5

03 Dec 2025 12:03:20
Hopefully all of that is true as it all makes a lot of sense.

 4

03 Dec 2025 12:08:47
Cheers for update Fields :-)

 3

03 Dec 2025 12:12:24
I think they’ll strike a deal for Salah in Jan and he’ll stay until the summer.

There’s nothing Salah can do to tarnish his reputation. We’ve won everything in the last 10 years, including 2 titles which we’d waited 30 years to celebrate, a champions league and a world club championship.

He has been absolutely fundamental to some of our greatest moments as fans. He’s maintained his level longer than I ever expected, I only expected 4-5 years. He’s been absolutely incredible and always respected the fans and club.

Forever a legend.
He’ll leave one day but he’ll always be welcome in Liverpool.

 21

03 Dec 2025 11:16:05
Great reporting.

Are Palace going to let Guehi leave during a Wuro campaign though, mate? I reckon Schlotterbeck or Ait Boudlal will be targeted

Any news on the lad from Feyenoord?

 3

03 Dec 2025 12:27:51
I think unless we were bringing in Ederson as has been mentioned, selling Endo and Bajcetic would be very short sighted as we are very short of quality in depth in midfield, particularly thr type who can defend.

 4

03 Dec 2025 12:36:29
The time seems right for Endo with the world cup approaching. Bajetic never really got properly started, I had high hopes when he first broke through. I agree though if a CM doesn't come in then it would make sense to keep him until the summer.

 2

03 Dec 2025 12:42:37
Thanks Fields, prefer Bastoni to Guehi but if Guehi wants us so bad then he’s committed and that’s half the battle.

 6

03 Dec 2025 12:53:14
Cheers for the info Fields.

When you say both Wharton and Baleba is that one or the other or are we looking to bring in the pair of them?

 5

03 Dec 2025 13:06:30
Palace should be winning that tournament with or without Guehi though surely.

 3

03 Dec 2025 13:15:56
Cheers for the info Thefields.

 3

03 Dec 2025 13:28:23
Thanks for the info as always fields.

Love the idea of baleba. again doesn't seem like a slot player. but if he gets over ruled . can he just not play him? . like he has done with endo chiesa and others . unless of course he agrees to it and has recognised you need a bit of muscle in the middle of the park.

Interesting with regards to right back . maybe they are getting impatient and frustrated with injuries we are picking up there constantly.

 5

03 Dec 2025 14:29:39
Thanks TheFields. I would never let go of Gravenberch. Pity about Bajcetic; always hoped he would work out.

 5

03 Dec 2025 15:06:55
Baleba has gone from being Brighton's best player by far to not even completing most games this year, his form has pretty much been on par or even arguably worse than Macca's, wonder what's going on with him.

 3

03 Dec 2025 15:11:24
Don’t get the pining for Baj. He played a half a dozen or so good games about 3 or so years back when we were short on midfield options. His attitude wasn’t the best. He’s not had any luck with injuries since then but he hasn’t kicked on and hasn’t made the world sit up and take notice at all.

I think he’s basically missed his opportunity at Liverpool and it would be better for the lad to find a (second tier) club where he could hopefully get regular playing time.

 7

03 Dec 2025 15:22:24
Great info TF! V much appreciated. Both MG and AS would be fantastic additions.

 2

03 Dec 2025 15:37:27
Ait Boudlal was looked at in the summer but we moved for Leoni instead. Not sure if interest remains.

For those asking its both, not either with Baleba and Wharton. Hughes has over rulled him twice already (Chiesa and Frimpong), so wouldn't be surprised if that happened again.

 3

03 Dec 2025 16:01:30
Guehi, Semenyo, Baleba and Wharton would be another insane couple of windows.

 4

03 Dec 2025 16:28:53
Great info fields, thank you

Regarding the idea of bringing in both, would that mean selling off Macca and endo? I’d assume Wharton would replace Macca and Baleba for endo but with the idea to have more rotation for everyone?

 2

03 Dec 2025 16:38:29
In about 50 years Bajcetic is going to make some people's all time Liverpool 11 based on about 6 games he played when the team was on it's knees.

 4

03 Dec 2025 16:42:28
Thefields, great info and thanks.
When you say Hughes has over ruled him twice i assume you are talking about over ruling Slot on Chiesa and Frimpong? So if that's true is Slot barely playing Chiesa out of spite because he didn't want him? It would certainly explain a lot.

 1

03 Dec 2025 16:47:20
Have to say very noticeable change in transfer policy if that's the case .

Maybe hughes has seen that with 2 players for every position is the best squad make up . sprinkle that with a bit of youth here and there . like a blueprint for champ manager back in the day .

All we need now is cherno samba and that argie kid . DAlessandro. #winning.

 1

03 Dec 2025 17:04:29
Is there anyone else on Caicedo's level for that position?

 1

03 Dec 2025 17:31:34
I don’t mind the over ruling in this case but I just think frimpong was a terrible signing. His profile is the complete opposite of what we needed/ were using last season. Especiallypaired with the fact Kerkez was also very attacking and suited better ahead of the build up.

 2

03 Dec 2025 17:32:43
I’d also be thinking about Anderson and Wharton. Not sure baleba offers anything that different to gravenberch.

 1

03 Dec 2025 19:03:21
DAP, that's the most likely scenario.

Mcgoveb, correct. I don't think he is doing it out of spite, more he doesn't rate him.

With Frimpong, more of a winger than a RB imo. I would be using him there instead. Apparently Slot wanted Vanderson.

Anderson, £100m plus because of the English tax haha. Most of noise I've heard about him is Citeh.

 3

04 Dec 2025 01:09:23
Vanderson on is who I thought we would be more suited too. Do you know if him being home grown and being used to attract wirtz were big reasons? cos I can’t see it was his profile.

 0

04 Dec 2025 07:14:24
Good to know on Guehi. He’ll know he’s a guaranteed starter when fit.

 0

04 Dec 2025 07:08:37
I’m confident Salah will stay, either we will have a good run of results and the whole team is lifted as well as Salah and it’s business as usual and slot, Salah both stay.

Or we have another run of bad results, slot leaves and Salah stay. this is my opinion, slot and his tactics not working is the issue. Trying to change too many things too soon, his style of play doesn’t suit Salah and isak, The way we play at the moment isn’t playing to our best players strengths.

 0

04 Dec 2025 11:43:13
Obviously remains to be seen what happens over the remainder of the season but I’d say the club hierarchy are already keeping a keen eye on developments at Real Madrid between now and the summer and the mearest sniff that Xavi Alonso wants out or is being dumped and we’ll be all over it!

I’d still love Slot to turn it around but I’m really starting to wonder if we know the full story going on behind the scenes at the club.

His family are still yet to move over to the UK and I just get the sense that all is not right with him at the moment.

 0

03 Dec 2025 09:25:58
The BBC Gossip pages have Atlanta’s Edersom linked to the club again. Does his name keep cropping up because we have genuine interest or is it lazy clickbait journalism. Ed1… I understand that you have frustrations about Slots reluctance to use a more defensive minded midfielder, would Emerson be a change in his stance? I’ve only watched him in the Champions League and he does look quality.

 0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - as far as I know, Slot does not want this type of midfielder, despite it being obvious we need one. However, he is not the final decision maker when it comes to transfers, so it is possible Hughes has decided to over rule him, as he must see the desperate need for that profile of mid. Personally I don't think it is anything other than just names being thrown about though.}

 8

03 Dec 2025 09:37:53
Did a ChatGPT roundup of him and it spewed out a description of the exact player my untrained eye feels that we need. The numbers being mentioned also don’t seem too insurmountable either. Hopefully he can come in and contribute.

 3

03 Dec 2025 11:08:43
Believe I seen something about him having not long left on contract so price would be significantly lower than previously quoted. May have something to do with it.

 3

03 Dec 2025 09:53:26
Didn’t Hughes bring in Tyler Adam’s for Bournemouth Ed?
Maybe he understands the need for physicality in this league. Having played in it himself.
Adam’s is the exact kind of profile we need. Obviously just levels below the standard we would need, but he’s tenacious. Fantastic work rate, covers allot of ground, aggressive, tackles hard and well and decent technically. Hopefully Hughes is seeing the need for someone like that.
The constant links to Adam Wharton though, as good as he is, don’t really fill me with to much excitement. Brilliant young midfielder but he needs a good foundation behind him. Ederson or Baleba etc.
to many technical midfielders and not enough who want to do the dirty work and protect the defence with their life!

Anyway, I’m babbling on a bit.
Up the Pool tonight! 2-1 win Im going for. As I said yesterday, it’s Hope that gets you!

 1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - yes he did, so fingers crossed.}

 1

03 Dec 2025 12:30:26
I think the Ederson interest might be there as Atalanta may consider a lower fee because he’s not interested in renewing his contract.

If I remember right Viktor he's a player you personally have wanted for a long time. Would be a good addition, definitely lacking his type in our midfield.

Hi all,

As I stated a number of weeks back - Konate is not out the door just yet, and since my last post regarding his contract I have come to understand that there is a growing likelihood he pens a new deal. going to quick fire everything else that I know anyways, regardless of whether it’s contradictory to another poster or not. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but I don’t believe I am.

Slot - more likely to stay. Club still fully backing him despite doing doing due diligence on other managers (normal practice for the situation we happen to be in) .

Szoboszlai - likely to pen a new deal still. Talks stalling but no panic.

Gravenberch - same with Szobo. Id also be very shocked if he didn’t sign a new deal before the new year.

Semenyo - very advanced but not done yet. I expect Hughes to get this over the line and trigger his release clause.

Thank you for your insight. With Konate maybe staying on new deal. Read that Upamecano is in advanced talks for new deal with Munich. Would you know if Madrid turn their attentions to Guehi or do you expect like some others he is still likely to sign for us? Thanks.

Thanks Victor, appreciate the info!

02 Dec 2025 13:25:18
Thanks Victor- all good news there IMO.
Szobo and Grav are no brainers as I fully expect and hope to have them at the heart of our midfield unit for many many years to come. Both now experience, good attributes and can do almost everything pretty well.
Semenyo I think will be a smart addition. He's actually versatile (unlike others who we like to pretend are but just arent), definitely two footed, can beat a man so will help against a low block but more importantly, I think his physicality is something we can we tap into in big away games to help us get up the pitch and pressing, areas I feel Gakpo and Mo have struggled with.

Ibou- I hope he stays. I think the critism has be OTT. He's his own worse enemy and does shoot himself in the foot but on his day he can mark any forward out of the game with his attributes and as we saw with Trent, Ibou can almost cover the space of two players. Do we need more CBs, especially better at progressing the ball? 100% but is a CB of Ibou age and experience someone I want to see go on a free? No chance.

Kloppiche, Guehi is not first choice for Madrid at the moment. To be honest, them declaring a non interest in Konate staggered me a bit because now I don’t know who they plan on moving for. However, if we miss out on Guehi, there are others we admire - Branthwaite and Schlotterbeck being two of them.

 6

02 Dec 2025 14:11:54
I think Madrid will go after Upemecano. Which is fine, because he’s absolutely terrible.

 5

02 Dec 2025 14:19:27
The absolute insanity of offering konate a new deal is mind boggling . And sticking with Slot haha.

 12

02 Dec 2025 14:32:33
I trust Slot to get it right.

 14

02 Dec 2025 15:32:06
Interesting regarding Semenyo as City’s interest is growing.

 4

02 Dec 2025 16:16:26
Don’t expect City to sign Semenyo without moving Savinho on first.

 3

02 Dec 2025 16:47:07
Thank for for the replies VictorGoddam.

 2

02 Dec 2025 18:18:32
Surely they are only going to get Konate to sign. Anew deal to sell him next year . we should get £10 and a tub of Ben n Jerry's ice cream for him.

 2

02 Dec 2025 19:49:00
Sign Konate to a new contract.

Then sell him in the summer.

 5

02 Dec 2025 20:06:47
If teams don't want to take a risk on Konate on a free, why would other teams be interested in paying a fee for him?

 8

02 Dec 2025 20:07:24
Getting Guehi may force him to play better.

 6

02 Dec 2025 20:58:44
Ta Victor

Dream signings for Jan would be - Semenyo and Bastoni.

 3

02 Dec 2025 20:59:04
isnt Schlotterbeck a left footer, so maybe someone to rotate then replace VVD,
its a rightfooter we need, to replace Konate, when he leaves .

 2

03 Dec 2025 00:33:42
I don't think we'll sign Semenyo in January.

 1

03 Dec 2025 01:42:21
It would be stood to get rid of Konate for free next summer if we can sell him on in the following winter or summer window. Makes sound business sense snd if he finds himself third or fourth choice starter next August it might even encourage him to get his backside into gear.

He actually looks a lot less vulnerable when he has a RB who can actually defend (like Joey G) next to him.

 6

03 Dec 2025 02:31:05
Good take WDW.

 3

03 Dec 2025 09:08:45
So do we upgrade on Bradley and Frimpong then?

 1

03 Dec 2025 10:21:07
No. Bradley and Frimpong are here for the long haul.

 1

03 Dec 2025 15:25:12
More great info. More than appreciated VG.

03 Dec 2025 22:39:36
My last post should have read ‘stupid’ as opposed to ‘stood’. Good old predictive text.

Morning all. Question for the Eds/ ITKs.

For the second day running I'm seeing a lot of chatter about a move for Camavinga. I know that we were linked with him in the past but do we still hold a firm interest and are we considering a move for him? Is it just recycled stories or is it the classic RM media trying to drum up some interest in him?

 1

02 Dec 2025 10:10:24
We were interested at one stage under Klopp, but not so much now to my understanding. I would be very, very surprised if we moved for him in the summer.

 2

02 Dec 2025 10:53:09
Real don't tend to do any business, in or out, in January. Camavinga can play so many positions to a high level that it wouldn't make sense to sell him. He also seems to be a dead cert for the France squad regardless of whether Real start him or not.

 2

02 Dec 2025 10:58:11
I hope our interest has been and gone. I only see RM during CL matches if I'm interested in watching them. Any time I've seen them and him, he certainly has not stood out for me. I don't see any attributes that warrant a place in our MF in order to progress it. Perhaps those who have observed him on a more regular basis would disagree.

 3

02 Dec 2025 11:06:59
I’d be surprised - his injury record in a less intense league isn’t great.

 1

02 Dec 2025 12:24:09
He’s made of crisps. Hard pass. We need a durable and physical midfielder, not someone who’d likely go off sick for months on end for breaking a toenail.

 3

03 Dec 2025 00:35:15
Someone like Bajcetic, VIk?

 0

03 Dec 2025 02:07:59
No Rigsby. Baj takes longer breaks than months.

 0

03 Dec 2025 07:07:28
Bajcetic js a kid and one of our own who isn’t going to cost the thick end of £50m, I’d rather give him a chance to prove his fitness than spunk big money on a sicknote, Rigsby.

 1

03 Dec 2025 22:42:44
He’s 21 and last had a decent game 3 years ago @Vik. He has the makings of the next generations Nat Phillips / Rhys Williams with long term contracts and never actually making the match day squad.

 0

02 Dec 2025 01:51:19
Carra
Thanks for the update on Slot, looks to be done.
Any updates on defensive reinforcement as in Guehi?
Also what’s the score with Semenyo, are we looking to activate his buy out?

 4

02 Dec 2025 08:40:03
Or we could win tomorrow and find ourselves back in the Champs Lge places and they keep him on. I think that's more likely at this stage.

 6

01 Dec 2025 15:54:38
My pal who told me about the Isak deal has just informed me that Liverpool and palace have an agreement in place regarding Adam Wharton.
Fee in the region of 60 mill (which I find on the low side)
The deal is for the summer window not Jan.
Just wondering if any of the ITKS (carra, fields etc ) have heard anything.

 11

01 Dec 2025 15:24:49
From what I've sign he will help with build-up for sure. Can really fizz the ball into the forwards. I can imagine him finding Wirtz. However, it has to mean Macca is off to Madrid. Can you imagine how lightweight a trio of Wharton, Macca and Wirtz would be.

 5

01 Dec 2025 15:27:28
Aye, back in the summer I heard he was a potential incoming for the summer 26.

 16

01 Dec 2025 15:31:27
I look forward to Glasner stamping his feet and putting any potential replacements off joining Palace so that the move falls through.

 12

01 Dec 2025 16:24:55
That would be a great signing.

 3

01 Dec 2025 16:35:46
Shipley - glasner would need to extend his contract first. It expires in June so I’d imagine he’ll be off somewhere.

 1

01 Dec 2025 16:38:16
Funky, I like Mac but he’s been off the boil all season. Wharton would be a massive upgrade IMO.

 10

01 Dec 2025 17:00:42
Funky, Wharton lightweight? I thought he was the opposite.

 7

01 Dec 2025 17:25:45
Can't see why this is a good Idea.
He indeed have amazing passing range, but we need someone which will be much more mobile and intensive.

As good as Wharton is as footballer
He won't energize our midfield.

I think someone like Angelo Stiller, will fit much better, not the classic number 6, but hardworking, high intensity and also great in terms of breaking pressure trough short pass plays.

In counter attacking 4-3-3 with very fast wingers and along with 2 other midfielders that could compentstate his less intense and physical game maybe it could work.
not with 4-2-3-1 with a 10 that everything run through him and the main idea would be to bring the ball to him.

Also not in maybe future 4-1-2-1-2 / 4-2-2 / 4-2-2-2 formation we can start and use in the day after salah to combine wirtz-isak-ekiteke.
Wharton won't flatter szobo or gravenbarch.
Like someone in the Stiller profile (or Elliot Anderson for other example)

 4

01 Dec 2025 18:34:06
Wharton reminds me of one of my favourite Liverpool midfielders: Jamie Redknapp. Lovely on the ball, intelligent reader of the state of the game, and what kind of passes are called for: he knew when a sideways pass was needed to just slow a game down, and gradually seize back the momentum.

But he also has the same flaws: a lack of pace, and a torrid time with injuries.
I would love to see him with us, but I hope he can remain fit.

 2

01 Dec 2025 18:44:39
Can any prem side compete at the top without an enforcer these days?
As peiople have said, it seems Wharton would be the Mac replacement, but does his arrival mean Grav is able to be less defensively?

 2

01 Dec 2025 20:53:06
Grav hasn’t been defensive at all this season, it’s been a major problem. AW can’t defend either.

 1

01 Dec 2025 22:50:42
Grav has been poor this season, not sure what he adds or what his role is in an already weak midfield.

 0

01 Dec 2025 23:08:32
Don’t want him.

 0

01 Dec 2025 23:42:32
Sorry but stiller is not a pacer physical dm. He’s similar more similar to Wharton than all the midfielders you compared himto.

 1

02 Dec 2025 07:07:27
Wharton is a passer and not a physical presence. Yes he can get involved in defending but he's about as fast and mobile as Macca and pretty injury prone, if you get Wharton it's for progressing the ball and not for getting some bite in midfield. Stiller is the same. I think players like that are more alternatives to our vision of having Zubimendi in midfield.

If you want a midfielder who can do a bit of everything, who can tackle, pass, carry, cover space and look comfortable on either side of the ball while having the stamina to do it for 90 minutes, it's Elliott Anderson. I don't think he is absolutely elite at all of those aspects but he is very good at all of them, and he continues to improve as well.

 5

02 Dec 2025 07:08:33
That being said. I still think Joao Gomes is worth a good look. Wolves are definitely going down and he is the one midfielder in this entire list of midfielders who loves the dirty work side of the game.

 4

02 Dec 2025 08:22:43
PatrikBurgher - It would seem strange if Edwards went for an injury prone player. Is there anyone else out there like Caicedo?

 1

02 Dec 2025 09:16:57
My guess would be that he would come in as a replacement for Macca. I personally think that it would be a great move.

 1

02 Dec 2025 15:22:11
Like jamie redknap i hope he is not jamie very good footballer but injury prone. YNWA.

01 Dec 2025 15:09:48
Hello all,

I understand the media are saying one thing about Slot and i'm saying antoher.

However nothing has changed on my side.

Slot will still likely leave Liverpool and has held some pretty straight conversations with the clubs executives.

The dream is to wait on Xabi Alonso's future.

If 'there's a feeling that he may come available, the club will move for him.

Ta.

 35

01 Dec 2025 14:16:10
Great news as always Carra. 👍.

 3

01 Dec 2025 14:17:13
Cheers Carra - I'm assuming you read my post so I was very interested to get your take and massively appreciate there pretty rapid response.

I think a lot of us would love Slot to turn it around after last season but there's a few that are happy for him to move on.

Gotta be honest I'm a little torn to be honest. I would like Alonso and I think he would get the work rate up and ensure we're going the right way. I also wouldn't be disappointed with Iraola either.

I guess we'll see. what happens.

 8

01 Dec 2025 14:29:12
Cheers, Carra.

 3

01 Dec 2025 14:30:34
Thanks as always Carra.

 3

01 Dec 2025 15:01:22
Crazy idea, but the signing of flying fullbacks Kerkez and Frimpong, plus Wirtz, has Alonso been an indirect influence on the summer signings?

 3

01 Dec 2025 15:28:57
Thanks for the info Carra, always appreciated.

 3

01 Dec 2025 16:19:18
Cheers for the update Carra.

 1

01 Dec 2025 16:30:39
So they've told Slot that it doesn't really matter what he does this season, if Alonso gets the chop at Real he's taking his job? And Slot didn't just resign there and then?

 7

01 Dec 2025 17:02:32
Why resign? Its a dream job that pays extremely well.

 3

01 Dec 2025 17:10:10
Cheers for the info Carra. I assume the position is to persevere with Slot for as long as and if it becomes untenable (which I think it is currently) to get a temp in.

 2

01 Dec 2025 18:40:05
I don’t entirely get why we want Alonso. Isn’t he a 3 at the back guy? Yes, that works for our full backs, but we don’t have enough cbs to make it work.

 1

01 Dec 2025 19:16:21
Carra
Thank you as always. If youd indulge, why is it Slot wants to go? Or is it the other way around? Is this down to the poor run? Or something completely different.

 0

01 Dec 2025 19:46:36
This ties into my point regarding Slot’s reaction to the win.
Given the pressure he has been under- there was nothing
Almost as if he wasn’t engaged with what it meant
Like he knew whatever he did- it didn’t matter.

 1

01 Dec 2025 19:49:58
Thanks, Carra. Always appreciated!

 1

01 Dec 2025 20:06:18
But what happens if Alonso stays put? He's not the kind to throw the towel in and seems like a legacy manager.
Is Slot getting till the end of the season?

 2

01 Dec 2025 20:44:18
@Rojack, I don’t think anybody can predict accurately at the moment.

@Monster, you’d assume that IF Alonso were to take up the role at some point in 5h3 future and IF he wanted to play 3 at the back, as an example, then the club would look to adjust the make up of the 1st team squad accordingly.

 2

01 Dec 2025 20:56:51
Alonso isn't a better coach than slot - I'd understand if it was inzgahi or klopp but I'd rather trust arne.

 5

01 Dec 2025 23:47:31
Thanks for the info Carra. Much appreciated.

 1

02 Dec 2025 01:25:24
Alonso isn't wedded to a three at the back. He plays 4-3-3 at real.

 1

02 Dec 2025 08:17:47
Would that sort of thing not be a case of “constructive dismissal”?
Pretty sure Slot could resign and successfully sue.

 0

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed078's Note - "constructive dismissal". Can't remember that from my union rep days, but I am pretty old.

 0

03 Dec 2025 00:44:28
It would depend on results, surely.
Slot's and Alonso's.

 0

01 Dec 2025 11:26:29
Question for those in "in the know" really.

We have a few on here, Ed01, Macca, Fields, Robbo and Victor and all have varying views on Slot getting more time or going to be sacked.

Is there any update at all after yesterdays result? I didn't think we were that great tbh but 3 points were needed and we did at least manage to play someone at right back to free up Szob.

Loved what I saw from Wirtz yesterday but it just all seemed a bit subdued. and will be a little in vain if we don't follow it up with a win vs a very good Sunderland side.

Look forward to hearing from the (in the knows) if they have anything new to report!

Have a great day all and thanks in advance Eds and the rest for all the input.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware they were always backing him and hadn't decided yet to get rid.}

I’ve been following the site since I was 16 so that’s 17 years ago. Based on my experience Macca was incredibly reliable but doesn’t post anymore. Right now ed1 and Carra have the most accurate track records. Shout out to all the Ed’s for their hardwork and dedication over the years.

 9

01 Dec 2025 12:38:12
Judging by the Northcroft and Wallace articles over the last few days, it sounds like they are continuing to back him for now.

Much will depend on if the players simply stop playing for him. We are not quite there yet, but has been close.

However, you can bet they are watching the Xabi Alonso situation at Real Madrid carefully.

I have a horrible feeling Slot will remain until the end of the season. I can only see him getting the nine ten jack if we get to a point where CL qualification is out of the question with league games to spare . I fear it will be a run of poor performance wins then 2 or 3 losses then another run of poor performance wins. Just enough to keep in touch with top 4 until it isn't. He should have gone in the last international break, or at the latest after the terrible back to back performances against Forest and PSV.

He may change everything, his coaches, his formation his tactics his training methods and surprise us all. If he does I will eat humble pie and appologise but I don't see it. I fear we are in for a season of medicare at best performances and maybe a to 6 finish if we are lucky.

 3

01 Dec 2025 13:46:06
Sorry Kha, I meant Carra (I still have this delusion that they're the same person)!

 3

01 Dec 2025 13:54:54
I like the guy and hope he turns it around. It sounds like the owners think the same way.

The question is, what do the players think? That will ultimately decide it.

Sunderland, Leeds and then Inter will be much more physically intense than West Ham were yesterday. I thought our off the ball aggression and intensity was still pretty average so there's a lot to improve yet. West Ham couldn't have been better opponents for us.

 5

01 Dec 2025 14:09:52
Only time will tell if it was a false dawn like Frankfurt, Villa and Madrid or whether it really was a turning point. We will know more the time next week.

 1

01 Dec 2025 14:12:35
I think we’re back. Looking at wirtz playing like he did I think we’re back in a shout for the league with a solid Christmas run. In Arne we trust.

 6

01 Dec 2025 14:28:33
As i've said previously, I wouldn't be surprised to see him given until the end of the season if results improve.

If Alonso hints at availability, the owners won't blink in replacing Slot with him.

 5

01 Dec 2025 20:46:19
@Thefields, do the tribal drums say that Alonso might actually want to manage the job at some point?

 1

01 Dec 2025 23:02:39
Crabbyfool. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, you can't be serious?!

Sorry, but a west ham win doesn't count for too much. It should be a given with a lineup like we had. The result was there finally, the effort was "better" but unfortunately we are still wat of it to compete with much better/ stronger teams like Sunderland will be. I would be shocked at a convincing win. Confidence is key in football and unfortunately we are still way lacking in it

To simply say things have changed after finally getting a win ( (against a very average team) is absolutely crazy. Love your positivity, but unfortunately I just can't see it as the methods required to beat the stronger teams just isn't there.

 0

02 Dec 2025 08:57:25
@Thingofbeauty your comment that any game should be a ‘given’ isn’t correct though is it? At least if you choose to look at the history of football. Thinking you know what the result of the game is going to before it actually takes place never really works. If it did we’d all be down the bookies making millions every weekend.

 1

02 Dec 2025 10:53:51
WDW. Its a resounding yes, if I'm interpretating them correctly.

 0

03 Dec 2025 01:50:22
Thanks - you did interpret it correctly. I wanted to check because sometimes, especially when we all get excited, we tend to think that someone is going to do something that we think will be good without ever wondering if the ‘someone’ is actually up for it.
