You got to laugh, apparently now, with only 2 days left for ousmane dembele to accept new terms, then he is off to a new club on a free and we have now submitted and are top of the list for offers for his services. I just cannot see that and more paper BS.
1.) 27 Jun 2022 13:07:10
Where is he going to fit in with the 20 other new players we're supposed to be signing?
2.) 27 Jun 2022 13:26:03
Ok, Dembele and ‘the Otter’ in and Keita and Salah out - job done.
3.) 27 Jun 2022 13:55:23
Never get a game the fsg out brigade want at least 6 new wingers.
4.) 27 Jun 2022 13:56:06
Doesn’t he want more money than Salah.
5.) 27 Jun 2022 14:41:57
Dembulance ? ?.
6.) 27 Jun 2022 15:10:42
I think we should ban Dembele talk. It's not good for our health. I think VVVV got so worked up he moved to the New Forest to live as Tarzan in total isolation from the internet.
7.) 27 Jun 2022 15:58:12
MK Scouser, if true about VVVV, I’m sure we can get a carrier pigeon sorted to deliver him a message that Demebele is about to sign, that’ll get him swinging.
8.) 27 Jun 2022 19:24:32
Just mention Traore and he will come :)
9.) 27 Jun 2022 23:39:01
Part of LFC's transfer tactics are surely to give out tonnes of bum steers, this being one.
07 Apr 2022 17:33:20
Looks like the issahaku rumour can finally be put to bed, just been announced at sporting lisbon.
1.) 07 Apr 2022 22:47:43
finally!
14 Mar 2022 13:04:57
Apparently about to sign some Celtic youngster, 16 year old wide attacker Ben Doak, already made his debut in January and will be minimal compensation fee for his training due to not yet old enough to sign pro terms.
1.) 14 Mar 2022 22:28:29
I think Ed02 said we can’t sign him until he is 18.
2.) 15 Mar 2022 12:32:55
Ed01, quick one, the player is 16, not signed a professional contract yet, is he not allowed to sign on for us youth terms or must he wait till 18? Assuming of that is the case his only options is to remain in Scotland with Celtic / another team, or move abroad to another league.
{Ed001's Note - it depends on circumstances but on a basic can we just sign him on a normal transfer from Celtic, no. However, if say for example, one of his parents got a job in the area and the family were moving, then we could. So it is not a simple yes or no.}
3.) 15 Mar 2022 13:10:48
Makes sense Ed, thanks for the info.
{Ed001's Note - welcome.}
4.) 15 Mar 2022 16:14:29
Is it normal Ed001 for clubs to give the parents employment to help a transfer?
{Ed001's Note - used to be, Barca did so with Messi, even though it is not supposed to happen any more, but there was a lot of cheating around him that is not supposed to be allowed so what does one more thing matter?}
5.) 15 Mar 2022 16:51:42
I think with some of the issues around other owners, sorting out local employment for a couple of Scots would be pretty irrelevant!

Ok, just saw ref watch and dermot does not agree it should have been a red for Robertson and makes sense. Wasn’t in control of the ball as he just nicked it away, the ball wasn’t heading towards goal, but the side across the pitch, so a yellow for me. Agree it was brain fart moment for Robertson, but definately a yellow card. Wonder if it’s something we can appeal?
1.) 16 Dec 2024 12:56:37
"the ball wasn’t heading towards goal, but the side across the pitch"
@Knighty, This was the same explanation Lineker gave on MOTD which kind of swayed me into changing my mind cos in real time, I thought red, all day. Should have been a yellow, for sure.
2.) 16 Dec 2024 13:11:35
If ref watch are saying it was wrong decision then it's a howler. He tries to side with them as much as he can.
It's only one game, one he probably would have been on the bench for anyway. So I'd be amazed if we appealed it.
3.) 16 Dec 2024 13:37:13
Leave it as it is, one game without a Robbo mistake will do us pretty good ?
Only messing about of course but yeah, one game? I'll take that. It's not worth the buggering about.
4.) 16 Dec 2024 13:52:40
Yer, I was the same, definite red card at the time of thinking, but I was only looking at it from the point of he was last man, didn’t even consider that he wasn’t in control of the ball, and the fact that it was played across and not towards goal, which those 2 in itself make it a not denying a goal scoring opportunity. I did think that a straight red was a minimum 2 match ban, but no idea these days.
5.) 16 Dec 2024 14:44:42
what about their player who scored the 1st goal, really bad tackle before that, he should have def been sent off .
6.) 16 Dec 2024 16:45:35
Ref watch didn’t even look at our penalty appeals. Shocking.
7.) 16 Dec 2024 17:09:06
@Kop that, I called that from jump. Perreira should not have even been on the pitch to score the goal, as you said. Disgraceful.
@StEtienneAmen, really? Were you expecting them to pile on the ref esp if you look at all the key decisions? All are questionable at worst, IMO. A couple were outright shocking like the Perreira incident.
8.) 16 Dec 2024 17:52:55
The whole officiating was off on Saturday. Some very strange decisions indeed not just the ref and var but the linesmen.
9.) 17 Dec 2024 00:00:13
It’s very hard to not think there was an agenda from the officials on Saturday.
There were just too many big decisions that went Fulham’s way for it to be coincidence.
Diop stamping on Robbo’s knee? Studs up, high, overly aggressive, dangerous. Red all day long.
Perreira scraping down Grav’s Achilles? Would’ve been soft but going on recent calls it was a red card.
Robbo red card? I think we all know it should’ve been a yellow based on the PGMOL’s own interpretation of the rule. The ref couldn’t wait to get the red card out.
And then the most baffling of all, the Gomez penalty incident. How on earth is that not a foul? He literally wiped him out in the box. The clearest penalty you will ever see in your life! That decision alone screams corruption but added to the others it confirms it.
How can a ref, two linesmen and 2 VARs rule all of those decisions in one team’s favour when all should’ve gone the other way to varying degrees of certainty? There was clear bias in Fulham’s favour it’s there for all to see.
10.) 17 Dec 2024 12:13:07
"The ref couldn’t wait to get the red card out. "
This! And the VAR did not even look at all the variables involved (thzt we are seeing now) which would've told anyone that the red was very disputable. Instead, the VAR just checked the offside and validated the ref's incompetence not just on this but on all the key decisions. Shocking ref performance.
21 Jun 2022 21:34:42
Ok, so the outgoings are starting to move, Bradley on loan to Bolton for the season, and now minamino fee agreed for him to join Monaco for up to 15.5m. Plus neco spars fly will be subject of a bid from Fulham this week.
1.) 21 Jun 2022 22:24:31
I think we’re just balancing the books after the Nunez signing.
By end of window we won’t be far off breaking even.
2.) 22 Jun 2022 03:35:36
@JK23, I don’t think it works like that though mate.
In isolation, for the period June - August 2022 you could say that we spent
£64m on Nunez
£5m on Carvalho
£4m on Ramsay
although there is the potential in the future for a fair few add-ons.
But, if we don’t buy anybody else, let’s say we have spent £73m.
On the other side of the ledger, assuming Mane and Taki go through we will recoup
£27.5m for Sadio
£12.9m for Taki
Making, let’s say @ £40m. Obviously there might be other sales but at the moment there is a difference of approx £30m.
The thing is we bought Luis in January for an initial @ £38m and we didn’t sell anyone so that would mean that to break even on the last two windows we need to recover £68m.
As ever, also worth noting that the figures I’ve used are based on figures in the public domain which may or may not be 100% reliable. And, as ever, I would say I am not capable of running a multi-million business.
Of course, it also needs to be remembered that transfers are only one area of revenue and there would be lots of other factors in the final P&L report and it will be interesting to see how our other revenue streams have fared with a return to spectators being allowed in, game day revenues and prize monies from our adventures in the cups etc.
So, my conclusion is that we are going to sign a CM / CDM in this window. No logical reason - just a gut feeling.
3.) 22 Jun 2022 06:29:32
WDW 100% get that mate and agree. Selling players now will just be one avenue of balancing the books. Performances on the pitch getting us 2nd and to a CL final would have brought in some great revenue alongside the tv money.
I’d love to see us do more business on a midfielder and let’s be honest the way this club have done business recently we can never say never.
4.) 22 Jun 2022 08:20:58
I can just see Ed002 shaking his head whilst sipping a G&T muttering "this is why we don't discuss finances"
5.) 22 Jun 2022 08:59:43
According to Neil Jones (very reliable) -
"Billy Koumetio the next Liverpool youngster to go out on loan. He's set to join Austria Vienna for the season.
"Rhys Williams, Jake Cain, Sepp van den Berg, Owen Beck, Paul Glatzel and Leighton Clarkson among those likely to follow him out in search of experience. "
6.) 22 Jun 2022 10:28:33
@Stuie - absolutely agree mate.
My workings out are very, very simplistic and are based solely on the figure most often quoted in the media and I was more trying to point out (in general and not having a go at JK23) that finances are a tad more complex than the idea we spent so much on new players has to be balanced by the amount that we get for selling players.
30 Jun 2021 12:21:28
Ok, so official now parson daka signed for Leicester, that's one of the rumoured options off the list for us, are we getting closer to the one we want is it no one coming in?
1.) 30 Jun 2021 15:19:48
at least we don't have to worry about a 3-way striker competition lol or perhaps that only really applies to us . . !?
ah well, he gone. Hope he does well!
2.) 30 Jun 2021 15:25:03
Not sure we were actually in for him or if we even bid for him. If anyone knows better than me, please enlighten me.
{Ed002's Note - I dealt with this weeks ago.}
3.) 30 Jun 2021 15:40:35
Ah, thanks Ed02. I may have missed it. Did we bid for him or not, pls?
4.) 01 Jul 2021 00:03:49
I've read elsewhere that he turned us down, due to lack of assurances about playing time. No idea if it's accurate. But he's at least smart and knows he's not dislodging Mane and/ or Salah just by signing a contract with LFC. Maybe he feels Iheanacho, Perez and Barnes would be easier to dislodge. Or become Vardy's eventual successor.

I agree with ed25, he has all the attributes you want in a midfielder in his position, but the silly play acting and throwing himself to the floor as soon as an opposition player even farts in his direction is embarrassing and one of my pet peevs in other teams players. Cut it out, increase your effort and then we can start to truly see what he’s got, but the jury’s still out on him for me.
{Ed025's Note - me too Knighty..
16 Aug 2024 08:26:04
Come on Stone Age, what’s the Big Friendly Giant ever done to you, he’d win every header in both boxes if we kept him.
09 May 2023 12:20:02
Ship has sailed on Bellingham, however, optimistic for the future, looking forward to seeing what some of the kids who have been on loan come back and do. Bradley looks ready, and quansah who I haven’t see. Much of, looks like he can do something. Bake rice back after injury and a proper full pre season with the first team, have high hopes. Obvsiouly a few transfers to be made and things could be looking up.
17 Oct 2022 12:57:30
Sounds serious, never injured my banjax before, sounds painful though.
11 Oct 2022 08:29:42
I would start to have a look at Trent In midfield, a type of de Bruyne role, he has the passing and running and strength to perform, but might take a bit of time to acclimatise to it. Would leave at right back a couple of youngsters though, Ramsay and Bradley, so I would go for a seasoned pro, who wouldn’t block there path, and hopefully not cost a bomb. Midfielders, we lose keita, ox and Milner, but gain Trent as a mid, Morton comes back from loan, hopefully integrate him back in as a 6 as seems to be doing well at Blackburn, and then maybe bring in at least 1, but really 2 mids, ideally Laimer and Bellingham, which would leave us then elder players having reduced time, Henderson and Thiago, Fabinho the sitter switching with laimer, then the 6 and 8 roles you have Trent, Thiago, Morton, Bellingham, henderson and jones. Would get bajcetoc a loan for next season to get him game time and progression. Forward line, expect to see firmino depart, and salah being off his game, Definately need 1 who can play right the way across. I would look at gnabry on a free, and try that position along with Harvey, entrap strikers would be Nunez and jota, left Diaz and carvalho. Centre half, was hoping van den berg could show what he was all about this season, but that nasty injury has put paid to that. Hopefully he can come back and pick back up, but failing that, would sell matip and bring in another.

I would definately give Owen beck a try at left back. Granted he has literally had no game time in the premier league, but neither has Connor Bradley, and look how he turned out. Like ed1 says, you never know if they can step up until you give them a try, a chance is what he deserves and would qualify as home grown and club trained, win-win.
16 Dec 2024 13:52:40

28 Sep 2023 18:44:47
It’s early days, but I am impressed with how he is performing, maybe, just maybe, the decision not to go for a centre half this summer is because they feel this kid can step in, and early signs are promising. Would much rather have quansah, a kid right the way through the ranks step up and make the grade rather than spending millions. This would make 3 scousers in the team from the academy, long may it continue.
25 Apr 2023 19:37:01
Maybe pre season is the time to try out young Calum chambers in the left of a back three, or even van den berg coming back to play the right side of the 3 and Konate and vvd shifting over?
04 Feb 2023 20:53:19
You know what, this management have had the entire season to try and get us playing again. Yes we have had injuries, but they have had a mid season training camp, full weeks in between games for training, and then saying how well everyone is looking in training, then come match day, same old crap, same old mistakes, same old pattern of play, it’s ridiculous. I’m not saying klopp is a bad manage, far from it, but there comes a time where the club and manager just don’t function as well as they did, and I think that time is sadly now. I think we need to part ways, and the entire back room staff, as I think of klopp was brave enough, he would take back more responsibility and employ new people, new ideas, but his loyalty is holding us back now to players and staff alike. If was not doing my job for what I was employed to do, I would be sacked, this should be no different. This has the feel that there is a lot of toxicity behind the scenes, a lot of people leaving, internal squabbles with players not liking staff. I can take is getting beat, what I can’t take is the same players, same mistakes and same half arsed effort game in game out. It’s getting to the point now where I used to hate missing a game, now I hate watching a game, because I know players who are getting paid absolute fortunes are not turning up and playing with no effort. I for one am taking a break from watching us, these players are not turning up for us in these games anymore, so that feeling will be reciprocated from me.
