Looks like we’ve signed KDB lads!
Boyhood Liverpool fan come home to bring us another title.

1.) 07 May 2025 23:05:37
An injury prone 30 something at the wrong end of his career is nothing to be excited about, unless our physios are excited about all the extra work.

2.) 07 May 2025 23:26:44
He won't be playing every game so can be rested.

3.) 08 May 2025 00:40:13
No thanks. Not good enough for a third-placed team, not good enough for the Champions. It would be Thiago all over again.

4.) 08 May 2025 00:52:01
Am I ready to be hurt again after Thiago? I don't think so, but there's always that little part of you that almost wants the club to take the chance just at that very slim chance it works out.

5.) 08 May 2025 07:32:53
He’s been very good the last half a dozen or so games for ManCity. He’s still got a part to play and could provide us with that killer pass and creativity we sometimes miss from midfield.

6.) 08 May 2025 08:30:56
Do we really lack creativity? I'm not so sure. It's more that we lack presence in the box against low blocks and serious pace in behind. Sure we will lose a lot of creativity when Trent leaves but I think bringing in a defensive liability in kdb is clearly not the answer.

7.) 08 May 2025 08:51:36
KDB at his very best was overrated in my opinion. Very good player of course but was surrounded by other very good players which helped him a lot and hid a lot of his vulnerabilities.

Similar to Trent he’s capable of brilliance with his passing range but more often than not he would give the ball away. He just had Rodri or Fernandinho sitting behind him to mop up his cock ups.

Take them away and he becomes a bit of a liability defensively and puts the team under pressure. Not for me, I’d be gutted if we signed him.

{Ed025's Note - you dont half talk some crap at times Robbo, KDB has been one of the best players the prem has ever seen mate...and im afraid Trent is not fit to even be in the same conversation as him..

8.) 08 May 2025 09:03:55
Hi Patrik- always like your posts as fair and balanced however I do feel we lack creativity in mid and often why we go long over the top.

We have the players to do it such as Mac and Slobo but for some reason they rarely play those defence splitting passes in the way someone like KDB does. Virgil plays more of them than they do.

I think KDB would be a good addition though not sure we’re in for him.

9.) 08 May 2025 09:24:55
Have to agree with ed25 here. The lad has played at an extremely high level since signing for city, one of the best midfielders in prem era for sure.

Personally I'd love us to sign him. He's made it clear he isn't happy that he wasn't offered a new contract and I would say he has some fire to prove city are wrong to pass on him.

{Ed078's Note - Ed025 is not wrong.

10.) 08 May 2025 09:39:15
An excellent player in his day, I would have him in an all time premier league 11.

However, it would be a risk signing him based on his recent fitness record and IMO too much of a risk.

I think we should be looking at younger more exciting options for midfield.

11.) 08 May 2025 10:57:25
I have seen KDB live a few times, even now he is amazing, even if older his football brain, movement vision is great. (Remember Molby) ….

12.) 08 May 2025 10:59:13
1jj, is there something wrong with going long over the top? Or do you think all football should be played through the midfield? Virgil is a big part of how we play bypassing the midfield and going direct to mo or lucho, slot makes the most of his range of passing the way Jürgen has done, there's no rule saying that your center back can't be a source of creativity, I mean Virgil and Trent were pretty much our primary ball progressors for the most part. As for our midfield, Mac allister is a creative player, grav is a ball carrier, szoboszlai presses and links up with mo and the full back in the right, that's just the setup and balance that slot seems to prefer right now.

13.) 08 May 2025 11:40:39
KDB will go to Italy to finish career . We have several over 30s in our team i know KDB is an excellent footballer but do we really need another over 30s player?

14.) 08 May 2025 11:39:23
We have not made an offer for KDB. If Napoli wants KDB, then that is his likely destination.

15.) 08 May 2025 11:46:04
KDB definitely one of the best midfielders we've seen in modern football. When he's regularly fit, walks into any team he likes IMO.
Yeah, he's prone to injury but id rather him have input at Anfield then a rival club.

16.) 08 May 2025 11:50:28
Why the f**k would we sign him?

Amazing player in peak fitness but now he seems to pick up quite a few injuries and at his age and the likely wages it seems highly unlikely we'd be in for him!

Obviously he's the closest we'd get to a delivery like Trent's but I just can't see it. and I hope I'm right!

17.) 08 May 2025 10:50:42
Ed025 that's where trent has become vastly overrated in the conversation of passing. Long range? When it meets it's target he's probably the best. Terrific long range passer, But any other range of passing and crossing kevin was superior . Always on the money which is extraordinary. Then there's all round play. That's like comparing trent as a player to Gerrard. Nowhere near the player.

{Ed025's Note - im with you Batman..

18.) 08 May 2025 11:46:45
You have your opinion and I have mine Ed25. I happen to think I’m right.

I’m not saying he’s not been a very good player but the best in the premier league era? Really?

There are countless midfield players I would put ahead of KDB in that conversation. He’s had the huge benefit of being part of a very dominant City team which in my opinion has made people talk about him in that way. I’ve watched him very closely and I honestly don’t think he’s anywhere near the best in the premier league era. He’s not even the best in his own era and arguably in his own team.

Very good player but I don’t believe the hype.

{Ed025's Note - as you say Robbo its all about opinions, i think he has stood the test of time and will certainly go down as one of the best players in his era mate..

19.) 08 May 2025 12:40:46
I think you're obsessed with Trent batman7, I swear most of your posts are about him in some form or other.

20.) 08 May 2025 13:40:37
De Bruyne was close to being as good as Gerrard so that tells you everything you need to know.

21.) 08 May 2025 15:59:49
Robbolostlegs. who would you have ahead of him out of interest? You have a point that he's been overhyped in that city team but im struggling to think of 5 better attacking midfielders in the last 15 years.

{Ed001's Note - David Silva is head and shoulders above him and anyone else.}

22.) 08 May 2025 13:01:14
Ed025 I think if he would be willing to come as a squad player I think he would be an exceptional signing. With him in the number 10 and sobs and Gravenberch behind him in certain games with there running power he would be great and in games against top sides that are more 50/ 50 him coming on for the last 25/ 30 mins he would be fine and open tight defences. He has truly been one of the best midfielders to play the game I think up there with Gerrard more creative but I think Gerrard had a more all round game.

{Ed025's Note - even if its just to rotate with Grav and Macca to give them a blow Grino i think he could well do a job mate..

23.) 08 May 2025 17:06:04
Excellent player when fit, not sure we’ll get that many games from him. If we get 20 games then might be worth a punt.

24.) 08 May 2025 18:11:25
Ed025, Aren’t there people in Liverpool that can give Grav and Macca a blow for cheaper than KDB?

{Ed025's Note - im sure there are WM, but i dont visit those sort of establishments these days mate.. :)

25.) 08 May 2025 20:07:58
I'll bet Rooney still has a few brass addresses Ed.

{Ed025's Note - hes a very good customer Flash.. :)

26.) 09 May 2025 01:12:12
I'd take KdB for a year for free for sure.

We can't play Macca and Sobo every game, they'redead by the end of the season when we get to finals etc. My guess is if he comes in then one of Jones / Elliot would go.

Like Ron said, if we could get 20 games out of KdB (which I think is possible), then I'd take him. Him in the 10 would provide way more creativity than Sobo. We need more goals and assists from that position. Although I'd love Cunha in that position better.

27.) 09 May 2025 17:08:23
That post aged well.

17 Apr 2025 21:47:21
Dad tells me we might be after KDB on a free. Is he teasing me?

Crabbyfool

1.) 17 Apr 2025 22:10:20
I’d love to have De Bruyne on a 1 year performance based contract.

2.) 17 Apr 2025 22:26:33
All day long would take him. Even in his current state he is better than Szob in the 10. Not going to happen though.

3.) 17 Apr 2025 22:34:25
Honestly as much as eveyone says slot doesn’t want hr we need a solid midfielder to protect the back line we’re too porous.

Some good midfielders but if we aren’t going to use endo we need someone solid and someone else to play some killer balls, too much weighted on Macca.

Still not convinced by szobo, good moments but not often enough so far.

4.) 17 Apr 2025 23:50:16
I heard we’re after the monolith from 2001. Slightly quicker than KDB.

5.) 18 Apr 2025 01:46:21
If he brought his legs from about 5 years ago but he doesn’t hav3 them anymore. No thank you, invest the money on someone on 5heir way up.

6.) 18 Apr 2025 04:33:35
Thats the type of transfer wishlist that got Man Utd to the situation they are now in.

7.) 18 Apr 2025 07:15:24
Kdb is finished, injury prone legs completely gone. He'd get less minutes than chiesa in his current state.

{Ed025's Note - age creeps up on all of us Magico, but he has been a fantastic player mate..

8.) 18 Apr 2025 09:30:44
I think we need more pace in the team not slower players.

9.) 18 Apr 2025 09:31:56
Amazingly this season KDB tops the charts in the PL for most chances created per 90 minutes.

And he'd be our 2nd joint assists in the league despite only playing 22 games which is quite surprising as he's clearly had a drop off.

The other stat I saw yesterday was Vvd is currently the fastest recorded defender and LFC player in the CL this season.

Big up the old boys who are proving maybe there is life in a footballer after 29 years of age after all.

{Ed025's Note - nah JK, put them all in an old peoples home mate.. :)

10.) 18 Apr 2025 09:51:56
Ed0025 after some company are you mate.

{Ed025's Note - im not going there just yet JK...but it wont be long mate.. :)

11.) 18 Apr 2025 13:13:42
You want to replace szobo who is the engine of that midfield who runs like a man possessed with someone whose legs have completely gone?
Szobo makes up for the lack of running from Trent, macca and Salah in particular so them players can shine. KDB would be an absolute disaster signing because there’s no way he’s replacing what szobo does in the team.

12.) 18 Apr 2025 13:18:25
De Bruyne hasn’t got the legs anymore, plus he’s been very injury prone the last couple of years. Not saying he hasn’t been a great player, because he was, and that’s the key word “was”. Time has visibly caught up with him.

13.) 18 Apr 2025 13:25:58
Mad how Liverpool are “too pourous” at the back.
Can you let the BBC know they’ve got the league table wrong because it says we have the second fewest goals conceded in the premier league behind the ultra defensive Arsenal.

It also indicates we are top of the league by a distance and that can’t be right.

14.) 18 Apr 2025 14:40:07
ED25 - regarding kdb you said it perfectly ”has been”.

15.) 18 Apr 2025 16:47:27
If KDB would take a wage of about £75k a week and be happy to come on for 15/ 20mins then yeah great signing but he is not going to be happy with any of that so would be one of the most stupid signing we could ever have.

16.) 18 Apr 2025 18:25:13
Gary McAllister was nearly 50 when we signed him (OK 35) but what a player he was, and one that I had wished we had had many years before. Perhaps KDB would fit in the McAllister role :)

17.) 19 Apr 2025 12:28:29
The other thing, he was among the City players who were singing that song which not only mocked Sean Cox being given life changing injuries (getting “battered on the streets” was the specific line), but also mocked Hillsborough (“victims of it all”) . Personally wouldn’t want him at the club after that.

18 Nov 2024 13:36:08
Just an interesting one about fabio carvalho.
Anyway Fabio didn’t want to leave but the first thing that Slot said to him was “they don’t have the championship on TV in the Netherlands” so he didn’t know who he was. Anyway after that comment he wanted out and turns out he isn’t well liked at all by the Brentford players because he’s on such high wages and they won’t pass to him in easy situations because of this.
Fulham tried to sign him but he didn’t answer the calls due to changing phone number.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to force a move again as his attitude stinks too.
Not really a Liverpool related post just some interesting info make of it what you will.

1.) 18 Nov 2024 17:34:54
I hope he keeps the head down, work hard and make it big.

I have no reason to hate on this guy who made us a massive profit. Let the guy develop.

And if the Brentford players are not passing to him, then they are the problem more than him. I doubt that is happening though and much rather a young player settling into a new team.

2.) 18 Nov 2024 18:20:20
Is Fabio 5 years old?

3.) 18 Nov 2024 19:06:10
No hate on the guy from me, hope he turns into something big reminds me of a young coutinho. Anyway getting a signed shirt from him so I’m his biggest fan now haha.

4.) 19 Nov 2024 04:37:06
Carvalho does have the quality but I feel he doesn't work hard enough nor does he feel like a player who is willing to fight for his place. He struggled here and at RBL because of competition for places and flourished at places where he was the main man. He's still young though so there's still time for him to turn things around.

5.) 20 Nov 2024 12:33:52
We do have Championship football in NL though :-)

But probably Slot did not have the time. Most people watch Dutch Eredivise, PL, CL, La Liga, Bundesliga, highlights Seria A, maybe 2nd Dutch division. When you have more than a FT job as coach Feyenoord and a family when do you still have time to watch Championship football?

13 Dec 2018 00:21:02
Liverpool looking to sign Steven Caulker on loan?

Crabbyfool

1.) 13 Dec 2018 01:35:51
They are asking me to come actually 😛.

2.) 13 Dec 2018 02:42:10
Is Firmino injured?

3.) 13 Dec 2018 12:57:17
Firmino is to drop into CB, his hard work and pressing are seems as sufficient. Caulker to start up top in his place.

Any news on VVD guys? Heard nothing my end yet.

Crabbyfool

1.) 31 Aug 2017 15:46:44
didnt you just say he is having a medical with chelsea?

2.) 31 Aug 2017 15:47:54
my bad that was for mahrez.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 15:52:30
VVD, He's coming mate . Lemar refusing to go to Arsenal so that's still possible.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 15:57:11
I've heard nothing at my end either.
But then again, I'm 'working from home' today, so like many of us on here am unlikely to hear anything spectacular unless VVD turns up on my doorstep.
Got to go. Someone's just rung the door bell.

5.) 31 Aug 2017 16:01:01
Cmon Macca fill us in. Tuesdays passed.

6.) 31 Aug 2017 16:17:40
vvd is a ghost, as believable as elvis riding shergar.

7.) 31 Aug 2017 16:55:30
"unless VVD turns up on my doorstep.
Got to go. Someone's just rung the door bell. "

No. Wrong number. It was Thunderbird 3.

For some reason my search function isn’t working feel free to ignore this if it’s come up before.
What about guirassy with his £70m release clause to a few clubs us being one of them? Is this the mystery striker?

Crabbyfool

1.) 03 Jun 2025 18:34:24
I don't even know if there is a mystery striker.
My view is that if we sign Wirtz, I can't see us spending a similar sum on a striker. How many strikers are bigger names or more exciting than Wirtz and available anyway?

My theory is that Wirtz will come and play primarily as a 10 or as a false 9. We don't usually play with a 10 and if we do, it'll be behind a cheaper striker that is prepared to rotate.
More likely, that Diaz could go and we sign a forward that can play on the left or through the middle. If through the middle, Wirtz can play as a 10, as well as a false 9 and Gakpo or a new signing on the left and Salah on the right.
But I know almost nothing about Wirtz so it's probably best to ignore all that ?.

Obviously, a lot depends on outgoings. If we lose three forwards I could see us signing a CF and a wide forward but I don't think they'll be big names and they will offer some versatility.

2.) 03 Jun 2025 19:20:01
Guirassy is 28 or 29, is he not? We're never spending that much on someone that age, I'd be willing to bet my left texticule on it, and that's my favourite one!

3.) 03 Jun 2025 19:54:12
Rugby, what's the right one done? They have feelings, you know. You should never favour one over the other.

4.) 03 Jun 2025 20:27:08
@Rigsby, isn’t not knowing if there’s a mystery or not actually part of the mystery?

5.) 03 Jun 2025 22:23:37
You're right, WDW.
I should have said that I don't think there is a striker in the pipeline that is more exciting than Wirtz.
The mystery is that there might be.
There is not but it's a mystery, it's a mystery, I'm still searching for a clue.

{Ed001's Note - did you sing that with a lisp?}

6.) 03 Jun 2025 22:29:40
Rome, I have it on good authority that all 3 of my children came from the right one, that's why I favour Leftie!

7.) 03 Jun 2025 23:05:00
I did and I've got the same hairstyle, too, Ed001!

{Ed001's Note - I always pictured you like that.}

I would only take coutinho if we were going to lose him to arsenal or spurs. He’s a great player and could be the difference. I really think in midfield if there are a few injuries we will struggle. The Ox and Lallana and Shaqiri are all injury prone. Where would the creativity come from?
