Gakpo apparently handed in a transfer request according to reports in Dutch media.

Agree29 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:04:03
Bayern Munich maybe? They did well with the last left winger they bought from L4.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:25:49
Hard to know why he would do that.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:28:33
Be kind, you keep posting, but people ask you for a source, you never reply with actual information, not like Carra. The fields. Robbo. Vg. 🤔

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:30:26
Can't see that information anywhere online. Bayern paid £63m for Diaz, who had one year left and was older than Gakpo, so would have to be £70m plus.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:36:48
Maybe he is just passing on social media rumours? Which is fine, given this is a rumours site?

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:40:59
Fingers crossed it's true.

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:43:05
They lost out on Gordan, didn't they, so maybe are switching to Gakpo.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:48:36
Would be a bit odd for him to do that, seeing as he is on decent money, new contract etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:49:52
Ron, he'd do it coz his dad's just been sacked, mate.

Agree18 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:49:58
Maybe Gakpo has read the Barcola and Diomande rumours on here and decided he's not up for the fight for his place. 🤔

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:07:59
Pretty sure my post says in Dutch media grav ......

Agree9 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:10:59
Ps Grav, I dont and never have once claimed to be in anyway ITK unlike others.

Full rumour

Cody Gakpo has reportedly submitted a transfer request to leave Liverpool, with rumors indicating he instructed his representatives to secure a move away "at all costs" following a turbulent domestic campaign.

The situation surrounding the Dutch forward involves a few key details: The Rumors: Initial reports surfaced out of the Netherlands via Soccernews.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:24:53
Please let this be true.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:26:51
Maybe he doesn't fancy training hard 7 days a week.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:31:42
BeKind. My apologies.

Agree8 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:35:35
This rumour is from:

@AnfieldWatch 5:00 pm · 3 Jun 2026
·
Which quotes Soccernews dot nl as the source, who published a story at 10:31 this morning, citing "English sources" as their source. It was originally posted on X (Twitter) by:

@justenock 12:50 pm · 30 May 2026

whose bio literally reads as follows:

'Liverpool fan | Fake News You Cannot Trust | Source: Trust Me Bro'
·
I'm not even joking.

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:49:34
I already posted it, Chewy, not sure what your goal is here??

Grav accepted, pal, onwards we move.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:01:52
I'm just citing the source, too many people on here just copy & pasting without citing sources, which causes confusion about who's actually claiming to be ITK.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:19:54
Good squad player, but on his wages we would be better cashing in on him.

£70m not to be sniffed at.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:21:56
Again, I do not and have never claimed to be ITK. It's a rumours site where rumours get posted.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:23:37
Ps, your attempt at being smart here was wrong, as you literally named the source as Sportsnews (where I read it), then some random page who copied it, and you waffled about that random page.

Suggest you give it a rest. Peace.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:37:41
Agree, Smb, for the high wage, im sure we could improve on his talent and have a lower wage.

Not sure what Bowen earns but he would tick a few boxes if hes on a lower wage and hes English etc. Obviously not young though.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 22:06:10
BeKind, Bowen would be an ideal replacement. Good squad player, albeit 29, but if we can get him relatively cheap, say 25 to 30m and on 100k a week, he could really do well for us.

Problem is the baron at Sausage Utd will look to rip us off on the price as usual.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 22:24:55
No, I didn't, I gave timestamps; clearly the X account that made the claim initially posted it 2 days prior to Sportsnews.

I'm not trying to be smart, only suggesting you cite your sources. Saves any confusion. Not sure why you have such an issue with it.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Jun 2026 09:50:47
I don't have to do anything to suit your needs, don't like it, move on. Simple.

03 Jun 2026 17:13:21
Afternoon Gents.

Following feom my earlier post regarding Diomande.

I've been told we are relaky close to this one happening.

Hopefully know more soon.

This will hapoen quick.

Cheers Robbo, always appreciated.

Heard great things of this Relaky person. Apparently can play RB too!

Agree11 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:03:28

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:12:35
Robbo, so happy that even his/her autocorrect isn't working. 🤣🤣

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:13:01
Robbo, just keep breaking the good news. You are a true bringer of good news.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:21:34
Brilliant news !

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:26:26
Is Relaky any relation to Rokki?

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:40:34
It's not a relationship.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:47:34
Robbo, I'm not saying that was posted from the pub, but the keyboard definitely ordered a second pint halfway through.

Agree10 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:50:57
More hissing cousins than kissing cousins, Rokki?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:19:28
Atrocious spellings on my behalf.

My phone has well and truly let me down.

Agree14 Disagree9

{Ed025's Note - thats my bad Robbo, i should have edited it mate..sorry..

03 Jun 2026 19:22:11
I know Relaky plays for Fiorentina.
He's known as Purple Relaky.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:27:42

We'll just have to work harder on deciphering your posts!

03 Jun 2026 20:00:03
Very true, mate!

03 Jun 2026 20:56:54
In fairness we are merciless when it comes to someone misspelling. 😉

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:12:43
Don't see this happening. He's made a statement tonight about his love for PSG and how they speak French and it would be easy to adapt. Gotta say this isn't happening in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:13:36
"In fairness we are merciless when it comes to someone misspelling."

O know weir knot.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:24:08
This will be great news, Robbo, thanks as always pal.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 22:28:46
We're not that bad, BarryinLouth.
That centre half from Villa is far worse.
Mings the Merciless one.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:46:54
Don’t usually get much info but I’ve heard we might make a surprise move for Archie Gray - seen a couple of people online say the same so makes me think there might be something in it.

Big fan of Alex Scott and feel they are similar profiles - definitely a position we recruit for in summer either way.

Agree11 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 17:04:50
Does this come from LFCApproved on Twitter?

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 17:31:36
Sounds like it, although Approved did sell his account a while back, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:01:31
No, actually, some replies / comments from couple of random supports who also regularly go to games. I had heard separately before seeing any of this though.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:14:38
I really can't see that one happening. Spurs won't let him go cheap, so would be paying vastly over his value.
So Big no from me for that one.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:27:02
Might have been an option if he was available more cheaply upon relegation, however, if the clickbait fee for Fernandes - £80m - is to be believed, even relegation doesn't guarantee lower transfer fees these days!

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:16:09
Remember this time last year, Southampton were said to be holding firm for a £100m for Dibling? Think he ended up going for £42m to the Bitters.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - i think they meant £100 FM.. :)

03 Jun 2026 21:26:15
Strange one dibling isn't it ed25 doesn't get a game after big investment

Ps don't really rate gray but he is always played out of position in a poor spurs side.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think its more to do with our pragmatic manager than Dibblings ability...i hope so anyway..

03 Jun 2026 21:20:30
Ed's 25 hope you are in good health. My question is what has happened to Dibling really rated him can't understand why he is not a major player for Everton do you know why he has dropped down the pecking order?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - Moyes reckons he is not first team material apparently Ace, you have to ask yourself why did we pay £40m+for someone who is not prem ready if that is the case mate?, yet he cant get minutes but Dwight McNeil can???, he has not really been given a chance so we dont know what he offers yet, and im afraid thats Moyes all over, im not too bad health wise at the moment my old friend... thanks for asking..

04 Jun 2026 10:02:05
Ed25, didn't he have a full Premier League season with Spyhampton prior to signing? Seemed Premier ready to me, maybe has too much flair for Moyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think thats exactly the problem Lofty, Moyes likes players that run all day even if they are poor players mate and thats why players like McNeil and formerly Jack Harrison always got playing time, he does not trust players who are young like Harrison Armstrong Dibbling and Braiden Graham who has not even had a shout even though he scores for fun in the U21,s, he is so negative and always sets us up never to lose rather than win..

03 Jun 2026 16:44:02
Thiago dropping hints on his IG page, the modern football landscape could not be any further removed from how it was growing up in the 80's.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 17:52:28
The futures now old man . Sorry I loved Malcom in the middle growing up

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:24:12
Quick question - where are folks getting the info on Gravy's salary? I've seen quoted here that it's £250k+ but on Capology it says he signed a new deal in March 2026 at £150k per week, expiry in 2032. Some bonuses on top.

Gakpo is an issue though, £250k signing in Aug 25 at £250k/w for 5 years.

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:01:03
De Telegraph at the time were reporting the 280k, I believe. Just had a look through the stats websites about salaries, and they all say 150k.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:02:26
Actually, having another browse, it's 280k once bonuses are factored in. No idea what they are, and how achievable. E.g., some might be based on winning the title and some might be for playing the game.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:04:42
Thanks, I wonder if Der Telegraph have got that wrong? Capology certainly are reflecting the latest contract as they have it signed in Mar 26.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:08:38
I thought about bonuses too, but, again, according to Capology, they're 'only' up to £37.5k per week, which, if they were all achievable (prob not as some will be based on winning major trophies every season etc), would push him to £187.5k/week.

I wonder how the almost £100k difference arose?

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:28:52
Is it in £ or EUR that might explain the difference in figures?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:31:01
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. How else can a club protect their players from being poached on Bosmans?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:32:25
Because Liverpool fans are very easy to wind up. They'll literally believe anything, especially if it means they can have a good moan about how rubbish the club is.

Agree8 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:38:00
Is it not much more likely that the £280k a week info was nothing more than poorly informed rage bait? Certainly worked if it was.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:42:40
Lofty, possibly, but too big a gap between £187,500 (Capology is in £STG) and EUR280,000 as the XR has been between EUR1.13 and EUR1.19 over the last year.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 17:41:16
A note on player bonuses:

It is very common for players to get flat fee bonuses for the following - being named a sub, being part of match day squad, getting an appearance, playing the full 90, scoring a goal, keeping a clean sheet, not receiving any cards, winning, drawing.

Players also get higher bonuses for team wins and draws against bigger opposition - this is partly why you see small teams step up their game Vs bigger teams - they literally get paid more to do it.

Then there's long term bonuses like qualifying for competitions, reaching certain stages, winning competitions and individual trophies (the last one seems to be less common these days).

This info is based on what I've directly witnessed as a staff member in Bundesliga, here in Brazil, and also info from executive friends at Real Madrid and an agent friend at one of the biggest sports agencies in football, so you can take it as pretty solid info.

About 60% of bonuses aren't just achievable for players, they're pretty much guaranteed.

Agree19 Disagree9

{Ed025's Note - great info that Nevada...cheers mate..

03 Jun 2026 17:52:25
Nevada, that makes so much sense, and is probably why agents want their players either moving around a lot or asking for more money up front, so they can ask for a bigger slice of the pie.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:03:37
Ryan Gravenberch will earn EUR100 Million (£87m) over the course of his new Liverpool contract. The Dutchman signs until the end of the 2031/32 season on a reported weekly wage of around £280k per week before bonuses, according to Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:20:23
Happy to go with the ragebait comment, and the fact we Liverpool fans are easy to wind up! I wonder why other media outlets (genuine ones, not the ones that copy and paste) did pick up on this at the time.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jun 2026 00:50:30
@Zed, Regarding your earlier post in this thread, the press are never wrong and would never, ever print anything that is less than 100% verified as accurate and truthful.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2026 01:57:14
The best was when Bobby was on 25k for an assist and 50k for a goal. He had a tap in and passed it for Mane to score. Cost him 25 grand. Need more Bobbies for lots of reasons. Not the prima donnas we have now, who all want 300k a week basic while they prat about in skirts and handbags.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed078's Note - my favourite player of the Premier League era.

03 Jun 2026 15:22:43
Madrid are looking at putting in a bid for Macca.

Agree28 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:59:16
Please let this be true.

Agree24 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:05:05
A bid now, or a week before his contract expiry in 2 years??

Agree16 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:05:20
You mean that they are pretending to be thinking about putting in a bid whilst waiting for him to run down his contract and join them on a free?

Agree18 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:08:36
Please, and about time they paid for someone.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:30:08
Not their usual style, I wonder if it'll be a lowball figure based on last season, but enough to unsettle him into the move?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:31:53
Real are stacked with saleable assets for Alexis and Shrek 2.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:43:10
By not their style, I mean tell him to sit out his contract, as they usually do.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:59:38
They can have him for £10m now.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:11:33
I would believe two-tier Keir before Raceylfc.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 20:07:12
I reckon there's a lot of truth in that.
Madrid was interested in Alexis MacAllister, but has realised that Sir Paul McCartney has more athleticism.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2026 01:58:39
They can have him for 10 grand for every time he fell down this season. So that'll be 45m.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 13:43:31
I'm going to put my neck on the line.

Liverpool will sign Yan Diomande this summer.

Ta.

Agree73 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:02:40
Cheers Carra. Much appreciated as always.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:03:20
It's the same way you put your neck on the line for Isak last summer, and it happened. So I believe you 100 percent.

Agree26 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:03:48
Love it, thanks Carra.

Agree8 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:04:07
Cheers, Cara.

What's everyone's thoughts on him? I don't know much about him as a player, but I see he's born in 2006, which makes me feel like I'm as old as the club itself.

Agree11 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:07:01
Always trust your info, Carra!

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:08:36
You're a Diomande Geezer, Carra!

Agree27 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:09:40
Risky for the fee touted, considering he's only had one season in a competitive league, but if he has the same mentality/ethic/attitude as Mane and Salah, we've potentially got a top top player.

So, that's Diomande and Barcola incoming according to the two big dogs here (imo), Carra saying Diomande, and I recall Robbo mentioning Barcola was 99% likely...

If we pull off both, exciting times ahead. A front three of Barcola, Isak and Diomande with Ekitike, Rio, Gakpo is exactly the depth and quality we lacked last season. I'd add one more in, a cheaper option who can play across the front line.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:19:05
Vamos!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who will be the next target?

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:21:06
Great news, with the right coach he could be a diamond. We know things can change, but you tend to be the person, along with Robbo, who gets most things right.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:40:32
If you're right, it's another Carra success, if not, all good.

Agree10 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:47:19
Cheers Macca for the update. Sands shift all the time, but you and a few others are ITK, so thanks.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:55:20
Fantastic news, thanks, Carra.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 14:59:36
Great news, we need to get this one over the line ASAP rather than let things drag on like we have in recent windows. Barcola doesn't interest me in the least though. There has to be other options.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:05:08
Sealed by next week imo.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:10:16
Nice one, Carra, much appreciate the info as always.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:21:01
Carra,
Where is your on Barcola?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:36:57
@Sadio Salah, I would rather have Rayan than Barcola to be honest.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:41:40
Cheers, Carra - Gotta say that when you put your neck on the line (Like you did with Isak) it does arouse me! (Where's those tissues?)

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:52:37
I've not seen him play in clips on YouTube so I can't comment on him.
But even with the small info I would rather him than Barcola.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 15:55:59
Nice one, Carra.

It's definitely the most difficult deal of the summer, so to get it done nearly would be amazing.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:18:48
There has to be cheaper alternatives out there. At the figures quoted in the press, it just seems like a massive risk. Can't remember too many guys coming from the German league and being a major success here, apart from the obvious ones: KDB, Kompany, Haaland. I personally think it's too risky. Last thing we need is another 100m pound average player.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:36:22
I wouldn't worry about the money, hello, it's not your money and the club knows what they can afford.

Let's just hope if it happens he turns out to be a huge success.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:38:50
Hellohello: Ballack, Gundogan, Hamann, Babbel (were it not for his illness, may have been a cornerstone RB for us), Havertz isn't the worst, and Schade looks like a good player currently too.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 17:06:56
Dom Szoboszlai comes to mind, maybe? Mane didn't even make the Salzburg Leipzig move and came to the prem straight from Austria, didn't turn out too badly now did he.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 18:22:08
Hellohellohello (to give you your full name), like others have said, don't let the fee worry you. It's not pounds and pence on the field that we watch, but players.

Plus I truly believe that he is a diomande in the rough.

Agree2 Disagree4

{Ed025's Note - but what if hes not worth a carat Zed?.. :)

03 Jun 2026 18:33:42
I hope as much as anyone that he is a massive success. I just think 100m plus for a guy that scored 12 goals in a poor league is an awful lot of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 19:08:00
Is there a league anywhere in Europe that is not poor?

If he does half of what Salah managed, that price tag will look like a bargain. If he flops we sell him to Everton!

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - you cheeky sod KK.. :)

03 Jun 2026 19:21:19
We were all happy to pay £100m for Wirtz last summer, who had just scored 10 goals in that poor league. And was 3 years older.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:23:30
He also had a body of work behind him, star man in an invincible title winning team. Big difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 21:48:42
He's 19, he's not going to have a stellar career behind him. But what he has done is rip up that Bundesliga. More, it has to be said, than Wirtz was doing at that age.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 12:38:23
Like I said in my earlier posts - Abe genuinely thought about walking. So I'm surprised, but very happy, that he's staying.

He's signing for just over half of what City put on the table. The money didn't win it - the pathway did. Potential Pre-season with the new manager and a proper shot at the first team is what sold him.

Internally he's rated on the same level as Rio.

Brilliant news for us. That's me done talking money on here - but my figures were spot on (for the haters).

Agree25 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 13:23:04
Might just be me but our teenage prospects don't excite me so much tbh. I think being a fan for so long, I've seen hype for so many kids and in reality hardly any of them will end up as a first team player one day. It feels a bit too rare to get excited but I am getting older and more grumpy!

Agree11 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 13:35:18
There's nothing about Rio that suggests he is in any way special. He's miles away from being a first team squad member for us. I don't understand the hype whatsoever. If Nynoi etc. are good enough, they'd be pushing the regular starter and forcing their way into the team.

They're not. Perhaps, these are classic cases of getting too much too quickly without having to earn it first. That's my opinion anyway.

People rate Rio because he is fast and is the only one that could take on people, besides the rare times from Salah and Frimpong.

Nonetheless, I feel that Rio could become good. He needs to improve his decision making and his defense, but those are things that could be improved upon since he is very young.

As for Nyoni, I feel he could be decent, but I feel he has a longer way to become a first teamer. Who knows if, with a new manager, both take a huge jump?

He's currently too lightweight, though he did appear to be a bit more bulky toward the end of the season. Sadly, he appears to be a one, maybe two trick pony. Stop overs and coming inside are not world beating techniques any more.

I hope Iraola is like Klopp and gives the kids the chance. As he will demand they work so hard, we will find out if they have what it takes. My bet is on Trey to make a step this season.

My take on news like this is really positive.

Rio at 17, the fact we are discussing whether or not he is currently a first team regular shows how advanced he is for his age. Not every teenager will be like Lamine Yamal or Mbappe, but I would say that I hope Rio continues to get minutes and grows, as in a couple of seasons he may be at a Diomande level (for example), with still lots more development to go.

Pleased Abe has stayed, and we've not chased him with a ton of money to ensure that he does.

Let's see what the future brings.

Wonder if Slot leaving had any bearing on the decision to commit to LFC.

Is Rio not already a first team squad member?

To the posters saying Rio isn't that good, the lad is 17 years old, ffs. He's a school kid!

He isn't Lamine Yamal, but he's still an excellent young player and one of the best teenagers playing in the Premier League.

To the OP, thanks for sharing the info. This seems to have been confirmed by the media that he's chosen to stay on despite competing offers.

My guess is Rio will improve vastly next season with Iraola.
If he stays, I would expect Gakpo to improve too, and Rio will get more minutes from the bench, and that is what he needs to improve game time, especially later on in games when players are tired, giving him slightly more time to learn to make the right decisions.

Rio is superb for his age. No worries at all about him.

Cafu: Trent, Jones, Bradley, Kelleher, Elliott, Neco Williams, Solsnke, Quansah, just off the top of my head.

I think we will really see what players like Rio and Nyoni can do under Iraola. Slot was far, far too placid when we had the ball, they'll flourish.

And more good news! Madrid are saving us from ourselves and signing that injury prone pensioner Dumfries. Hopefully we sign one of Palestra or Kayode who are both decent right backs. Bullet well and truly dodged. Now Madrid have two right backs who can't defend.

03 Jun 2026 13:21:48
Never seen Palestra play, but Kayode would be great. He's a great 1v1 defender, but he's also decent at driving forward and has a cannon of a throw in. Iraola utilised Semenyo's long throw capabilities, so I'd imagine he would let Kayode loose as well. It's such a weapon.

I know it's a big part of the game at the minute and not being smart, MK, but I refuse to rate a player from what long throw he has. The sooner all that disappears back to the 90s, the better.

Principles are all well and good, Florian, but you have to be able to mix it up. A long throw like that is hard to defend against due to the trajectory of the ball, so using it to open up a team who are parking the bus feels like giving them a dose of their own medicine.

Doesn't mean we won't play good football or that we'd become Pulis Lite like Arsenal, just means that if you want a game of football we'll give it to you, but if you want a fight, we'll give you that too, it's how we were throughout the 70's & 80's.

I'm all for that, Victor. Just shouldn't be hard for any of the players we already have to learn to throw a ball far. It's not rocket science.

{Ed025's Note - i think he got 5 and the bonus at the weekend ASB.. :)

03 Jun 2026 14:52:21
Why, Florian? You'd include it in a player evaluation if they were good at taking corners or free kicks.

I wouldn't want a player in the side just because they have a long throw-in, but if you take Kayode in this instance, he's also actually been one of the best RBs this season in open play.

So having a weapon like that is an added bonus. As Victor said, it's an unusual trajectory, so it makes it very hard to defend. If we scored a goal in GW38 from a long throw to win the League Title, I doubt you'd be complaining.

Have to say I agree with Flo. From what I've seen, Palestra looks better than Kayode in every aspect except throw-ins, reportedly cheaper as well.

I do like Palestra as a player, with the right coach, he could be terrifying.

Just a side note on Palestra, he was a midfielder before being shifted to RB. His success in 1v1 duals is also very impressive.

Tbh, I'd be happy either way if it was Palestra or Kayode. There's positives to both. Just glad we dodged the Dumfries bullet, never mind Michael Kayode, I'd rather sign Wile E Coyote than Dumfries.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Jun 2026 16:02:28
Again, I get that MK, but I think if people are being honest about Kayode, his long throw is a big reason why people like him. Commentators never stopped going on about it this year. Apart from that, I think he's good, but I've never really thought he was terrific. I'd rather Palestra. I think Brentford will want a fortune for Kayode.

All these long throws are great if they can get past the scrum downs that fill the whole penalty area. Surely, this new season that will be put a stop to that, it's gone crazy. For me, it should have been jumped on halfway through the season, as it became a circus with no officials controlling it. Made me laugh when the refs positioned themselves just outside the box, crouching down with hands on knees as though they meant business, but then just let it all go.

God only knows what other leagues around Europe were thinking, as they don't seem to do it. What a total mess.
If that all stops, then the long throws will be an effective tool for those who have it.
