07 Aug 2016 23:01:24
Good news for us in terms of injuries from Arsenal's camp.

Ozil, Mertesacker, Sanchez and now Gabriel all ruled out for our game.

Believable6 Unbelievable9

07 Aug 2016 23:18:19
Sanchez is fit isn't he, he was playing today against City.

07 Aug 2016 23:35:46
You'd have to guess that Wenger's hand will be forced in terms of getting another CB sorted, I'd imagine Mustafi. But with only a few days to bed in, still a tall ask for our game.

If we show the intensity of the Barcelona game and go all guns blazing we have a very good chance.

Klavan and Lovren a must for me as CB pairing.

08 Aug 2016 00:17:13
We have to go and play the same game plan as Barcelona and we can go and let the prem know Liverpool mean something this year . But we should not be to mad if we lose its only the first game of 38.

07 Aug 2016 21:58:43
about 26 hours ago we were world beaters. reluctantly praising the team for a pre-season victory against barca. a day later we're in a shambles and eager to criticize everything and anything we can following a loss in pre-season to Mainz.

the eyes roll big with this one.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

07 Aug 2016 22:46:46
Neither matters, we played agaisnt two different teams with two different teams, in pre season friendlies.
Origi tore the Barcelona defence apart, couldn't make a dent in Mainz.
Barca have only played one pre season game before us.
We played two in a weekend.
So many factors, none of which really matter as it was a friendly.

07 Aug 2016 23:57:48
It's crazy. There is a reason why teams never otherwise play two games in less than 24 hours. because they are bound to lose! Muscle fatigue. mental fatigue. and yet fans bleat about the lack of 'desire' and 'quality'. get a grip (! ) .

08 Aug 2016 01:56:36
You didn't see Klopp crying about muscle fatigue or mental fatigue, he still expected them to perform better than they did. I acut ally agree with you but I don't think Klopp would field a team to lose.

08 Aug 2016 04:00:29
Barca had played a couple of matches before playing us at Wembley.

07 Aug 2016 20:53:49
Eds do you think Stewart or Can could be played at left back this season? Both have proven to be Solid and have experience in the position? Sorry Just Don't want to even see Moreno on the pitch this season wouldn't even trust him to protect the lucozades. Cheers as Always.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - It won't be the plan.}

07 Aug 2016 20:00:05
Should we have accepted the 25 million offer from Crystal Palace, if we had, we would have more spending money, and just maybe we would brought in one or two players to complete our squad .

Believable4 Unbelievable9

07 Aug 2016 20:06:47
No 5mill is a grujic.

07 Aug 2016 20:10:10
If we do sell him we won't spend that money just because we have sold him. Weve about done with our incomings mate.

07 Aug 2016 20:28:23
Lfc Forever, we will still be getting a left back as Klopp is still looking for one, per Ed. Also, even if we accepted the 25m for CB, his wages are still a sticking point, Red forever.

08 Aug 2016 08:16:11
Assuming CB would want to join Palace - they weren't far off relegation last year!

08 Aug 2016 21:18:07
yes, and both Big Ben and Balo want high wages, so we could be paying part of Balo s wages just to move him on, maybe that is the reason we are holding out for the full 32 million for Big Ben, who really should by now know he will get very little game time with us .

07 Aug 2016 18:24:45
Mainz 4 v 0 Liverpool
Get the defence sorted Jurgen!
7 days till Arsenal and no left-back or settled defence. bit worrying.
Would love to see a last gasp triple-swoop for Willems (or Hector), Medel and Draxler but can't imagine we'll sign anyone else. Personally I'd keep Benteke given what a delicate little piece of fine porcelain sicknote Sturridge is.
Honestly, the centre-forward role should go to somebody made of granite not rice-paper.
Get in a Left-back to replace the seriously crap Moreno ( I honestly think that we're going with the "make-do-and-mend" attitude with Milner, Klavan, Gomez and Moreno) but this could bite us in the backside. I also think we need a better Right-back than Clyne but he'll do for now.
If I were Arsene Wenger I'd concentrate on winning set-pieces around our box because with our woefully un-reformed defence we'll be seeing the same crap we've grown used to. Clyne, Lovren, Mignolet and Moreno staring at each other in bewilderment after another soft goal.
It won't matter how much we've spent on attacking midfielders if we haven't got a defence!

Believable7 Unbelievable14

07 Aug 2016 18:40:28
Nothing like a knee jerk post to sign off with on a Sunday evening eh?

We beat Barcelona 24hours ago. Perhaps playing 2 games in 1 day had an adverse effect? I know, madness! But who knows?

07 Aug 2016 18:53:50
Totally agree Adam.

07 Aug 2016 18:55:08
Jeez

And the most NEGATIVE post of the week goes to.

Anfieldpete conrats mate

C'mon seriously to come on here and berate the players and coaching staff like that over a result that has no meaning whatsoever is ludicrous we really beed better fans than that.

It was a friendly for gods sake for preparation for the fitness levels required of the upcoming season.

Get behind your club if your a supporter or go elsewhere.

07 Aug 2016 19:06:25
Regarding the defence, it's just possible Klopp does know his best defence but decided against playing them twice in 24 hours. Perhaps he wanted to use this match for fitness of the fringe players?
Forget about Draxler and Medel, we have no room in the squad for them. We do need a left back, I would prefer Hector.
Sturridge on form is our best finisher, that's a fact. Origi is in a purple patch but he will struggle at some point.
Benteke will be sold, he is surplus to requirements.

07 Aug 2016 19:12:08
Yes, I can't understand the logic of playing two games less than 24 hours apart, in two different countries, apart from giving young and squad players some game time, the downside is of course, if you get beat or suffer any injuries, or both, now we have to concentrate on picking the right team for next sunday, and hope that we get something from the game .

07 Aug 2016 20:30:52
We already know the right team more or less and it is NOT the one that played vs Mainz.

07 Aug 2016 22:43:29
Damn our backups and retreads not being able to win.

DAMN THEM ALL.

Think my eyes just rolled a full 360. Bitch piss moan. Can we wait until at least the 10-game mark please?

08 Aug 2016 08:42:56
Anfield Pete has been the 'dam again.

08 Aug 2016 18:51:26
I think our defense has been pretty poor. Migs is an accident waiting to hapoen. We have literally no LB. Our center backs are getting injured every hour.
Slightly worried for the Arsenal game. I would have actually played a completely different team against Mainz and would take that defeat on my chins.

07 Aug 2016 18:18:53
Shame about the result today, but it doesn't feel like we've ended preseason on a low. The game today being not even 24hrs after the Barcelona result and a totally different playing team, it almost feels like it never happened.

Think next week will be more like yesterday and still fancy a 2-1 a la 87.

If we do not have a strong link, like a confirmed bid or permission to talk to a LB by the Arsenal game then I'd say it's a no go this window. Along with Karius injury and Gomez set back, it's the biggest shame of the window.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

07 Aug 2016 16:49:14
I didn't comment about the Barcelona game because it was a friendly - I'm not going to comment on this game either because its just a friendly. Arsenal away next week is where it all begins, let's save any judgement about performance until that one is finished.

07 Aug 2016 16:53:19
Good post seano.

07 Aug 2016 17:15:23
Why did you comment to say you weren't going to comment?

You cold have just saved time and energy all round by saying nothing!

07 Aug 2016 17:34:12
Comment just to say that aside from this comment I will not be commenting on your post.

07 Aug 2016 17:39:39
No comment.

07 Aug 2016 17:51:23
Just so you know I've got no comment either but i thought ill comment on this so you know.

07 Aug 2016 17:54:33
Isn't that a paradox?

07 Aug 2016 18:41:45
I'll comment if you want?

07 Aug 2016 19:48:27
Seano, you made a good point. Nothing matters till next weekend.

07 Aug 2016 20:34:29
If you don't wanna comment then, well, don't.

07 Aug 2016 23:31:52
Excellent comment showed great character.

08 Aug 2016 04:41:39
Showed outstanding character in both games - BR Style.

08 Aug 2016 08:44:53
I was going to comment on your comment, but then I read the other comments about your comment and decided my comment would be better when more comments on your comment -and whether said comment was a comment or merely a pre comment- made when my comment can accurately reflect my feeling to the previous comments.

07 Aug 2016 16:41:11
Could have done without that game. Not very good scheduling that. Can't expect much game in under 24 hours. But didn't really showed enough. Anyhow can't wait for the league to start now.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

07 Aug 2016 16:48:30
The entire purpose of preseason games is to get fit. Would you rather they put their last real game time push 3 days later? So tired of the whining about this game already. Ed001 said it best. Preseason games are for fitness purposes only. You think Barcelona is at all concerned that we beat them 4-0?

07 Aug 2016 20:37:26
Results don't matter I agree but Barcelona got thrashed in a Wembley friendly with Messi and Suarez on the pitch in a team that don't like to lose any game nor have a habit of losing games period. That loss will stick for a while (not long) IMO.

07 Aug 2016 16:00:31

Just wondered if u can c us signing a lb before the start of the season next week and if so who realistically can u c us looking at, haven't been on hear for while so not sure if it's been covered thanx guys.

I assumed it means read the posts as ed002 constantly has to repeat what she says.

07 Aug 2016 16:58:50
"Read the post". you can fill in the F yourself mate!

In short Klopps been looking to sign one but potential deals for Chilwell and Amavi fell through over price and look to have gone cold. Hector is widely rumoured as a target but Eds are not as convinced much is going on there and he's seen as expensive. We've been loosely linked with a couple of others like Rodriguez but it's possible we may not be able to get someone in this window and end up using Milner there as a stop-gap.

07 Aug 2016 16:59:07
Read The Posts.

07 Aug 2016 18:17:45
Read the fabulous posts.

07 Aug 2016 19:27:27
really think that we will do quite well, this coming season, and I can see all the new lads fitting in well, but, because of the failure to bring in the right players, injuries, think we just might fall short of the top four, as there are four or five teams that might have a more balanced squad than ours, but I am sure that the following season, we will definitely get champions League, that's just as I see it panning out .

07 Aug 2016 21:54:11
Read the posts.

Let's not beat around the bush here.

08 Aug 2016 09:10:44
With ed002 being from the US maybe it should be RTGDP? Gosh darnit!

07 Aug 2016 15:58:36
Not sure how many of you was on the chat forum during the game but, If some of the comments on there are anything like the posts that the eds have to sit through from Liverpool fans then eds are completely right, its not just embarrassing its disgusting some of the things being said. Seriously go on the live chat during games and see examples of the lowest form of life, Although respect to the posters who defended the eds and pinpointed the idiots ignorance.

Kman92, gotti and couts123 were the main knobheads

Sorry for my rant/ language eds but think people should no what kind of abuse you have to deal with on a daily basis.

Believable21 Unbelievable14

07 Aug 2016 16:13:55
I think people need an outlet and if that means it happens on the chat forum rather than the main site then so be it.
However, it's a service, provided free of charge, and I think some would do well to remember that. Thanks to the eds for providing it to the site.
Looking forward to getting back on the chat next week, when it actually matters. Haven't been on during pre-season.

07 Aug 2016 16:15:44
I was on for a while. The 3 you mention obviously have their own agenda. As i said on the chat, they are not handcuffed to this site, they don't have to log on.

07 Aug 2016 16:21:32
Its a chat for the football Ron, not for a couple of clowns to bitch about everything that is wrong in their tiny lives.

07 Aug 2016 16:24:11
I came off the live chat fed up of reading it to be honest. Opinions fine but personnel attacks on people r disgusting.

07 Aug 2016 16:34:27
Well I wouldn't know Rover because I wasn't around during the drama.

07 Aug 2016 17:17:24
i was surprised those mentioned above were not banned from the live chat.

07 Aug 2016 18:06:40
I'm always surprised people manage to see enough of the game to trash our players whilst on live chat. I'd rather watch the game without distraction.

07 Aug 2016 18:19:02
Had many an argument with couts and a few more on there. They are not supporters when we were down in the Europa last year with an hour left they started slating and dissapeared when the team came back and won.

07 Aug 2016 22:45:03
I've stopped going on the live chat since a long time, precisely because of this. Very little talk about football, and mostly mud slinging at each other, the team and the players. Even wrote an angry abusive note about it, but the Eds chose not to post it (probably correctly) . But i simply decided the best solution is not to go online on it. Suggest you do the same.

08 Aug 2016 03:44:50
same here, stopped using it because of the way all our players were trashed on there. just abuse after abuse. its like teenagers in a school yard. some clearly aren't even watching the match if all they're doing is trash-typing. shame really that its spoilt by some tools.

08 Aug 2016 09:15:45
Maybe if it offers little value the eds should discontinue the service!

Hey Eds,

Just an update on Danny Ward's debut for Huddersfield Town, as I promised I'd provide updates from watching their home games.

Town won 2-1 and dominated much of the game against Brentford. Ward had few saves of real note to make but looked confident and assured in his kicking and handling of crosses.

The goal was not too great from his perspective however. Hurried into a clearance, he aimless kicked towards a marked Town shirt who fouled his man. Brentford took the kick quickly and Town failed to organise quickly - Ward was arguably partly at fault here as he wasn't communicating with his defence and they weren't ready at all.

A huge hole appeared in Towns right back position and whilst Ward attempted to close down the striker, there was little else he could do to stop the ball ending up in the back of his net.

So one blot on an otherwise fine performance. Newcastle next, which I won't be watching as I don't cover away games. Hopefully in future games he will have more to do for me to assess - Ward looked good on the main yesterday afternoon nevertheless.

Cheers.

Anyone no the extent of Lovrens injury? Not expected to be out long is he eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable10

07 Aug 2016 13:45:01
He is on the bench against Mainz so he's probably ok.

07 Aug 2016 11:49:22
Hi Ed's

Does Danny Ings have a future under Klopp?

We all know he prefers only 1 at the top and we have Strurridge when fit, Origi and Firminio ahead of him plus Balo and Benteke if they aren't sold.

Shouldnt he be looking at more first team opportunities at this stage of career as Klopp said the same for Balo?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - Firmino and Origi can play other roles in the side, Ings will get chances, as well as chances to see if he can play other roles, before a final decision is made. Unless he asks to go (which he won't this summer as he is desperate to prove himself with us) or someone offers ridiculous money, it is likely he will stay, for now.}

07 Aug 2016 12:16:34
Thought Ings would be perfect for Klopp and us. His work rate, pace and desire is all 100%. He can finish and offers a different style up top. Also, IMO, he seems to appreciate being at a top club and happy enough for a role not considered first choice but a constant role. Could be wrong but that's how I see Ings.

07 Aug 2016 12:16:43
He has great work rate and can finish natural striker with Sturrdiges injuries and Firmino not been a striker he will get a chance and I'm sure he will impress

If he was fit last season we'd of benefited greatly.

07 Aug 2016 13:59:08
Balo and Benteke will, regardless of whether they stay or go, be behind Ings,

07 Aug 2016 17:52:42
Personal opinion is he won't be here after next summer. Think he'll want more than a bit part and it's difficult to see him getting more than that.

07 Aug 2016 11:35:53

Great entertaining game yesterday and wanted to tip my hat to Messi for stopping to sign autographs. Always a nice thing to do and great to see quality players taking the time for young kids and fans.

Believable7 Unbelievable9

07 Aug 2016 11:38:40
Who's Messi? SUPERMANE.

07 Aug 2016 12:35:09
I enjoyed it, lot of neutrals in the crowd (including myself) Sat with a couple Palace fans and chatted to some qpr fans and a good few Leeds fans down for the rangers game. All with the same reason for attending. To see Messi. Even though Barcelona were very well bellow par. It was still entertaining.

07 Aug 2016 10:59:06
Personally I'd treat Sturridge as a luxury. The player is made of fine porcelain and should only be brought out on special occasions.
Expensive, beautiful but extremely fragile.
Very impressed so far with Mane who seems to be a grafter of the type we need.
Goodbye to all of those players who've left or are about to leave. Skrtel and Lucas were the type of servants you liked, would give a decent reference for but wouldn't miss their departure.
Same goes for Ibe and Ballotelli but their loss will be largely un-noticed.
I do think we'll regret selling Brad Smith and letting Flanno go out on loan and I wonder how seriously we're taking the newly founded "B-League" or whatever it's called.
Personally, I'd love us to buy Medel, Draxler and either Willems or Hector but I appreciate that this isn't FIFA X-BOX or whatever fantasy games are played by kids and fat jobseekers!
With a week to go I'd urge our management to strengthen our notoriously generous and limp-wristed defence by installing players with a backbone and a brain. Moreno and Mignolet don't even make the cut while Nathaniel Clyne's entitlement to RB leaves me perplexed. We NEED a defence which can defend set-pieces firstly and kick-start attacks with skillful passes.
Is Moreno a brainy defender in this mould?
Does Mignolet fill your heart with confidence?
No and No . we need to shore up our defence at set-pieces and we need confident defenders.
In my opinion we need players like Hector, Subotic, Willems and whoever else (obviously not all) ahead of attacking mids but I would sell my mother into slavery for Willems and Draxler as our last two signings of the Summer.
I'd throw in my daughter for Medel but if she reads this I'm dead.
P. S. Hector wouldn't be bad either.

Believable3 Unbelievable17

07 Aug 2016 11:34:09
Willems is not defensively sound at all. Draxler would be pointless with coutinho firmino and mane, would mean dropping one. Hector is the best defensively out of the ones mentioned and the only way Medel will even Be looked at is if hendo is sold, even then, I'd like to think Stewart could do a job there, alongside one of can wijnaldum or gruijic. We have enough now, just a left back needed.

07 Aug 2016 10:37:38
So how many goals did Barcalona score from the left?

Believable4 Unbelievable11

07 Aug 2016 10:40:17
None, thankfully, however they did get in-behind from the left a few times.

07 Aug 2016 10:42:20
As they did from the right or centre as with that Messi miss.

07 Aug 2016 11:36:31
Thing is, it's only a pre season game and they're some way behind us in fitness etc. The real test is next week,

07 Aug 2016 11:37:00
Which ever way you look at it. That's been our best defensive display for years. Clean sheet against SUAREZ and MESSI.
Cleaner sheet than a nun house.

07 Aug 2016 12:44:48
They might be some way behind us, Frankly, but they easily beat the reigning Premier League champions a few days ago. I agree its only a preseason game which proves little, but we played some great footy which got me pretty amped for the new season.

07 Aug 2016 14:06:57
Annie, thought klopp set the team up brilliantly, closed Barcelona down in midfield, and the game was not so open like it was against our League champions, we can't afford injuries right now, just get in a Left Back, and I will be very hopeful for this new season .

07 Aug 2016 10:36:54

He should be brought out every time we play non friendly games if he is fit and be rested every time he is injured. By the way, from when he came back mid season last year he didn't miss a game because of fitness issues, and played for the national team in the summer as well. We wouldn't have made it to the Europa League final last year if he wasn't there. and he never get injured in games. always in training so no point of resting him in games when he is fit. We will hardly play two games a week this season anyway.

Let's wait and see, they say it is minor injury. Yes you never know with him, but the fact that he had long injuries before doesn't mean he will not have a niggle here and there from now to the end of his career.

07 Aug 2016 11:38:03
He's Made of tracing paper and it's a massive shame.

07 Aug 2016 12:49:34

07 Aug 2016 10:35:34
Dificult to assess what JK is planning and I trust him and his staff. The fact that he allowed smith to leave let Flanno go on loan I have to believe that he will address the LB situation. i feel pretty sure we will sign one before the window closes.

I was at the game yesterday and decided to keep an eye on Henderson.
The bloke is positionally sound! didn't place a foot wrong for the 45 minutes, and don't forget who he was up against!
He goes unnoticed as he's not the flashiest player and yes he needs to score a few more. But those who want him out the team are crazy! He holds the team together and we would be a lot worse off without him.

His energy and drive are really important assets and he's made for a Klopp team. He had a big hand in two of the goals.

07 Aug 2016 11:30:55
That's the unfortunate thing about a lot of posters on here, they watch the games off the tv. As you have rightly pointed out, you see much more live. I have a few examples.
1. Sakho - often refered to as clumsy and a weak passer of the ball-frequently has no outlet and gets dragged out to cover the full back
2. Lovren-at times very eratic and slow to get out-this goes very much un noticed
3. Clyne/ moreno-both leave gaping holes-however both very frequently left in a 2 on 1 situation (moreno more so than Clyne) -both slated for their crossing abilities-very often have nobody in the box to aim for
4.henderson-for me, our best player. Breaks up play, links defence and attack, fabulous organizer, very composed- more importantly, knows where and when it's appropriate to go
5. Emre Can-hailed as the best cm liverpool have ever had- positionally can be poor and unfortunately doesn't turn up in some games
6. Flanaghan-deserves so much more credit than he gets-defensively excellent, struggles with lack of cover especially for pace
7. Coutinho-hear a lot of people say he needs to step it up etc. He isn't a wide player naturally and certainly isn't left footed. Has no real pace and is prefictable in that he 99% of the time will cut inside.
Can I please clarify that I am not slating anyone, players or fans. But as an avid visitor to anfield and a few away games every season, you do see much more. I have seen moreno get torn to shredds following yesterdays game, believe you me he wasn't the only player to positionally get it wrong. What I did notice yesterday was that Mane offers so much from a covet/ tracking perspective, coutinho did more than usual yesterday and it went a long way.

{Ed001's Note - it is not being at the game that makes a difference, it is the way people watch. Some people just follow the ball (or follow games through their mobile/tablet screen) rather than looking at more of the game and seeing what happens off the ball. What happens off the ball is at least as important as on the ball. No one spots the runs off the ball creating space etc.}

100% agree with you. The lad is a massive asset to the club and yet some fan's would sell him in a heartbeat. Figure that one out?

07 Aug 2016 11:54:23
That's the point I was trying to make Ed. Cameras will only show you what the camera man allows you to, and frequently that isn't the full picture (positioning etc) .
Also just read back what I posted, must have sounded so negative and I apologize profucely. Also fully understand that not everybody is as firtunate as me to be able to go, so again another apology.

Spot on, Ed and Istanbul. People don't watch games closely anymore. People just browse through them like a magazine and if they don't see anything that pops out to them about a player, they come here running their mouths about a player Hendo in this case, about how he is poor, not good enuff because he didn't turn up in the highlights. Whereas a player like Skrtel pants, is hailed as a good signing because he turns up in highlight reels while for those like us who really watch games closely, know he's always been awful. Players like Hendo, Lucas, Kante, Medel and the like, are hailed as good players BECAUSE they don't show up on highlight reels and do the jobs that goes unnoticed. For example, that brilliant tackle that Hendo made on Iniesta, was to me the true assist for the fourth goal as that is what got unnoticed by many. It takes a good football observant to see the "unnoticed" yet essential job such players do.

On some games (sky:bt/ whoever) you can get a tactical overview camera on the red button.

Its more an overhead view of the pitch. Think something like playin fifa. I always liked to watch this from time to time for the reasons us state above. You get a far better feel for what's going on all over.

07 Aug 2016 08:36:45
Solid performance by the Reds at Wembley.

Mane will be very important for us. Great to see him in good form.

I wouldn't read too much into the result.

Barcelona are known for demanding enormous appearance fees, and not bothering to play more than half hour/ 45 minutes. It is part of the their preseason MO, and their commercial strategy.

Not sure if its an advisable commercial strategy to have your pants pulled down in front of the televised world. There will certainly be less Mascherano shirts sold in the next week.

07 Aug 2016 09:30:00
They've only been at preseason a fraction of the time we have, think it's their second game and our second last.

07 Aug 2016 10:07:32
Didn't the play Celtic and Leicester last week fencey?

redohio MIA!

Anyone seen him around?

Ok thanks ed 😘.

Where's Jonson6?

07 Aug 2016 20:41:58
Cincyred reporting for duty. Thanks Ed, you blew my cover.

{Ed001's Note - any time mate ;-)

Just preseason right!? Thinking about the performance, we played well up against an opposition whose sryle playes into our hands. We know how good we are on the counter attack. So be good to see how we continue to progress our gameplay against our kryptonie - deep lying defensive teams.

Agree, but I suspect with Origi upfront to add a bit of height, and a few bigger players in the side (esp Matip) to help on set pieces, as well as Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino all dangerous midfielders hopefully we find it a bit easier than before.

07 Aug 2016 08:48:24
Barca gifted Clyne and Mane that whole side of the pitch but kudos to them for using it.

07 Aug 2016 09:53:10
Sgame we didn't have nane in the europa cup final- we had acres of space on our right in the furstchakf and should have capitalisd on it- ah well next time!

07 Aug 2016 10:33:54
Mane was a real menace yesterday. But credit to for Markovic as he chased down the ball to set up Grujic (which was an insanely brilliant header, friendly or not, the technique was breathtaking. ), it's good that we've such a wealth of attacking options and we have some proper wingers who can put the fear into full backs!

07 Aug 2016 00:49:02
Well that just shows us what we can do when we are up for it. I personally thought wijnaldum was awful but we'll just have to hope that was down to match fitness.

Klavan, lovren, clyne, stewart and lallana all particularly outstanding.

But man of the match has to go to mane. The guy showed why we bought him and he is absolutely rapid. If he can do that for most of the season we are going places.

Concerns are obvious and lie with moreno, who was erratic as ever, and mignolet, just because we know he is a disaster waiting to happen. Karius cannot come back soon enough. As for a left back, i think we are all terrified at the prospect of not buying one.

Honestly, if karius can keep fitness and we get a quality new left back, i am tipping us for top 3. You heard it here first.

Theres a week to go until the start of the season - surely we should be playing better teams than that to get us prepared and fit? let's hope Mainz put up more of a challenge.

I know what you mean. Who ever thought Barcelona would be a challenge.

07 Aug 2016 01:12:38
Just got back Annie and I agree. Huddersfield were a better team because we only beat them 2-0. You can only beat what's in front of you!

06 Aug 2016 23:55:31
In Origi I think we have the complete striker and potential to become as huge. He has pace, is strong, tall, has quick feet, can beat 2-3 player with skill, can finish either foot and head and can create as well as score.

He works hard all over the front line and tracks back.

If he were in Europe, in France or Italy we'd be creaming ourselves if we were linked to him and if Lukaku is £75m, this guy will be a £100m transfer one day. He will become that good.

So impressed with him, at his age I don't think we know just what a player we have in our squad. Today has blown me away and can really see the potential and Klopps influence. I'm getting over excited as its a friendly, but hey why not. The result if the other way round would spell doom and gloom, Barcelona had quality out there and no one wants to lose.

Grujics header was sublime and so was the build up to it. Mane looked great. Klaven. All of them actually, Klopps signings look the part, it really looks like we've thought and bought for the squad and plan.

Title here we come. kidding I'm total hyperbole or am I? Whatever, but am looking forward to the season more so and less daunted by Arsenal as a first fixture. In fact I feel like '87 all over again 2-1 again next week.

Cool post. Let's take it easy mate tho. Keep our feet firmly grounded. Expectation can lead to disappointment 🙄😀 I love football. Hiccup 🍺😏.

07 Aug 2016 01:57:58
Origi has talent and importantly he wants to work hard to become the best he can be. I like the fact he plays with his head up and is aware of what's going on around him. He has also bulked out and he literally looked like a monster compared to their defenders. Got a good feeling about him.

07 Aug 2016 13:27:07
I really think he's a better option to have than sturridge! The way he holds ups the ball and brings people into play. Firmino big chance yesterday came from the movement and awareness of origi, he dragged and CB with and layer the ball to Stewart leaving firmino acres to run into.

07 Aug 2016 14:19:55
Plus Origi is so young, yet so eager to learn and better himself . this young man will be a superstar one day .

06 Aug 2016 23:52:05
Prediction: the same people that said Mane was an overpayment now are singing his praises, are currently concerned that Gini is a wasted signing, will be lauding his performance in a month. The player is two weeks behind the rest of the team in terms of being vetted and is being asked to play in an unfamiliar role in CM. His timing is off on his passes right now but he showed poise and good positional sense ( did a lot to disrupt the passing lanes) and he definitely brings the attacking element we have lacked from that position.

A lot of people have changed their tune on origi too. He was deemed not good enough before he'd even kicked a ball and then after his first 3-5 games.

This will get a lot of disagrees because nobody likes to get called on it.

When will fans learn to give players time to bed in? How about we show the same courtesy to GW guys?
