Media rumours about that we have interest in the 20 year old Turkish midfielder, Yusuf Yazici?

1.) 04 Oct 2017 23:02:33
never heard of him but after a quick google search, apparently utd and atletico madrid want him as well - any good?

2.) 04 Oct 2017 23:28:53
Another attacking midfielder, just what we need.

Hi Eds. Great win yesterday. (I searched for Maia. ) Press is linking us with a Brazilian named Thiago Maia. Anything in it? Or would he be priced out of a move anyways?

{Ed002's Note - Santos' Thiago Maia is of interest to PSG, Monaco, Zenit and Napoli in addition to Chelsea, Fiorentina and Manchester United who all have sustained interest and spoke with his previous agent. He is one of three players at the Olympics that Chelsea were interested in and a bid is still expected after seemingly successful discussions were held with his new representative - but Chelsea will not look to pay the outrageous asking price. PSG has spoken to Santos and after being rebuffed may return with an offer and Napoli have made it clear that they too are interested in making an offer, but the interest of Juventus, Monaco and Arsenal has waned - as the interest of Manchester United may have done. It is unlikely that any move will happen before the summer or potentially January 2018 unless an over the odds offer is made. Liverpool had a scout present at a Santos game in November (as did Zenit, Benfica and Kashima Antlers according to Santos) and that may be the cause of the report regarding Liverpool interest - but I really don't know why they had someone at the game. If they are looking to Maia it would be a significant spend on a teenager who plays as a defensive midfield player so it may take a change in shape of the side to fit him in - given Lucas can't get a game.}

1.) 20 Dec 2016 22:12:11
Could a creative DM signing move Henderson alongside Lallana?

{Ed002's Note - Sure, Klopp could change the way the team is organised in order to accommodate a teenager.}

2.) 21 Dec 2016 09:10:57
Curious Eds, do you rate him? Who does he remind you of as a player? Were there any other players worth scouting at that game?

Thanks and Happy Holidays Eds!

{Ed002's Note - I don't "rate" players but he is a player that plenty of clubs have shown an interest in. Scouts go to games all of the time - that is there job.}

26 Aug 2016 17:20:32
Ed002 I see that the appreciation society has gone a bit dull lately. You not been feeling the love here recently?

{Ed002's Note - I didn't know that and of course I don't know who runs it, but I appoint you my head of boosting. Sign up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society at: }

1.) 26 Aug 2016 18:04:42
Lol I dub thee head of boosting. I just google to see who you've wrecked recently and I haven't seen one in a while. Unfortunately I am not too fond of facebook. But know you're still #1 in my book Ed. Or #2.uhhhhh.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 02:56:52
Been using this site for a few years, tho never posted/ registered before.

just wanted to thanks to all of the eds, and several posters who i always enjoy reading.

been here since dodgy sightings at lennon airport and no daft questions to the eds.

and ed2 who always makes me smile. thx for all the info you provide.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome, and thanks for the kind words. As far as I know, nobody knows if he will be on the 1230 or 1300 arrival at John Lennon International today but there are bound to be a lot of fans at the airport hoping for a glimpse of him.}

14 Aug 2016 23:02:58
Hey Eds, we haven't heard anything about sakho. Haven't seen him in any training photos lately either. Is he on the way out? Honestly had kinda forgotten about him.

{Ed002's Note - He will be sold if a buyer can be found.}

1.) 14 Aug 2016 23:28:37
Dang that's crazy. Difficult situation this.

Thanks Ed.

2.) 14 Aug 2016 23:17:35
He will be back training with the first team this week!

3.) 15 Aug 2016 02:09:57
Is this because of the drug test Ed? He was great last year prior to that debacle.

{Ed001's Note - no.}

4.) 15 Aug 2016 07:32:21
Its to do with him being sent home from the pre season tour in Erica I guess.
Showing complete disrespect by being late for the flight, then a training session and then a club meal.
Klopp showing everyone who is boss by bringing the hammer down hard.

5.) 15 Aug 2016 08:15:33
A preseason tour in Erica? Must have missed that 😳.

6.) 15 Aug 2016 00:31:03
Although I respect your opinion/ info Ed, I highly doubt both Klopp and LFC would be so niave to sell one of their best centre backs due to a behavoural issue. Don't get me wrong he has a lot to do, to get back in to the first 11 but selling him would be complete madness, leaving us then with Klavan, Matip, Lovren and a very inexperienced Gomez who is still recovering from an Acl and Achilles injury. When on form he is vital to our defence, we missed him hugely in the Europa league final too.

7.) 15 Aug 2016 01:17:44
Cheers ed, absolutely ruthless from Klopp but these are the likes of ball I wish Rodgers would have shown.

8.) 15 Aug 2016 05:58:52
from using the search function, do you know if roma are still interested ed002?

{Ed002's Note - No, they have taken Fazio on loan. Housseyni has been spoken to by the club and Besiktas are known to be looking for a centre back but at best will want a loan with an option to buy. Housseyni however is insistant that Sakho stays and if that is the case he will no doubt be spending his time looking for the deal that suits them and not Liverpool. Housseyni has been told that the club expect to recover their investment in him.}

9.) 15 Aug 2016 08:35:00
So that would make Lovren, Klavan, Matip and Gomez our 4 centre backs.

10.) 15 Aug 2016 09:03:30
Hi Ed, is this a case of Klopp setting a clear example to the rest of the squad in terms of behavioral expectations or would it be fair to say there's a little more going on?

Obviously getting sent home from a pre-season tour is a serious matter but you'd be forgiven for thinking it didn't warrant selling the player.

Perhaps it was simply the final straw given the banned substance debacle etc?

{Ed001's Note - isn't enough that he is going? Klopp has made the decision and that is the important thing.}

11.) 15 Aug 2016 09:33:24
thanks ed002 for the update.

12.) 15 Aug 2016 10:15:08
Hi Eds, the signing of Klavan seemed to be a bit of a surprise at the time but if you're correct about Sakho hindsight makes it look like he was brought in as his replacement. Is there a shred of truth in that or am I making a connection where none exists?

{Ed002's Note - The decision regarding Sakho was taken after Klavan signed but you would think that there was some thought process involved.}

13.) 15 Aug 2016 10:21:15
I really liked sakho, he seemed to be warm to the fans, have a bit of a personality which is good for morale and was easily our best cb (not the hardest achievement)

Shame his attitude appears to have dropped, has he always been like this or is it more recent?

Thought the club were sticking by him after the drugs incident so is it that it was ultimately disrespectful of him to be how he has after that or more long term issues?

14.) 15 Aug 2016 10:27:46
Thanks Ed2.

15.) 15 Aug 2016 10:21:15
I really liked sakho, he seemed to be warm to the fans, have a bit of a personality which is good for morale and was easily our best cb (not the hardest achievement)

16.) 15 Aug 2016 12:57:22
Hi ed, would Sakho of been informed of this decision or not?

{Ed002's Note - He will know that the club are open to taking offers for him and he will have spoken with Housseyni.}

17.) 15 Aug 2016 13:56:46
I was excited when we signed him to be honest, but having watched him live a few times I'm glad we're selling. Everything else aside I just don't rate the lad and I've stated that before. I never got the Enrique thing and people on here raved about him? Like the look of klaven think we missed a trick with Ashley Williams and should spend big on a spurs LB. although I'm thinking klopp rates milner there.

18.) 15 Aug 2016 15:46:22
I find this upsetting - to me, he is the most able CB in the squad and losing him will be a significant blow to us and our ability to play out from the back.

19.) 15 Aug 2016 17:16:31
I'm glad don't rate Sakho always a liability for a mistake.

23 Mar 2016 01:29:47
Hi ed002. I read something about our scouts being impressed by American Bobby wood. While I find it difficult to believe, could you please tell me who he has attracted the interest of?

{Ed002's Note - Union Berlin's Hawaiian Bobby Wood is wanted in the summer by Hamburg with Kaiserslautern, Bayer Leverkusen and St. Pauli all being impressed enough to send scouts on more than one occasion to watch him this season.}

1.) 23 Mar 2016 13:31:23
Thank you Ed.

2.) 25 Mar 2016 06:54:42
No disrespect meant at all, but he's from Hawaii, not Hawaiian. Hawaiian is a race, not a nationality, and represents the identity of a race and culture that remains a minority even in it's own land. Again, no disrespect, just helping to spread knowledge as a Native Hawaiian myself.

On a side note. probably a fabricated story about an American based in Germany, not fancied by his German national team manager, and then linked to a club in an English-speaking country with a German manager. Would love it to be true, but I don't believe in miracles. just Leicester winning the league apparently. Apologies for the tangent. Up the reds.

{Ed002's Note - Thank you for the correction.}

I've seen a few people suggesting salah needs to be benched/ rested for a little while. Let's not forget Mane had a similar spell last season and he worked it out. ON THE PITCH. If it's fatigue that's getting Mo that's one thing, but we should be patient with the player who set records last season for us. We owe em that. He's not even been bad. He's just not been the Mo that spoiled us last year yet. But he will return! FEAR THE RETURN OF MO.

1.) 30 Sep 2018 08:20:29
Exactly mate, he'll get there, there's no doubt about that. The TEAM is getting good results so there's no problems in my opinion, he's playing well overall just a few daft decisions at times but that doesn't call for him being benched, that's the worst thing we could do.

I don't think it's just him either, the majority of the team don't look as incredible as they did last season but because he was top scorer and blew us all away he's the one everybody is targeting. End of the day all I'm fussed about is doing well and we're doing that, so there's no moaning from me.

Once the team start to find their form again we'll start smashing teams but for now, I'm happy with 1-0 wins, just because we're not scoring 5 past a team doesn't mean we aren't capable.

I said it before the season started and I will continue to say it, we'll win the league! people just need to believe and they'll see it for themselves at the end of the season when we're lifting that trophy.

2.) 30 Sep 2018 08:52:38
No way would i bench Salah. He still terrifies defences. Front three stays.

3.) 30 Sep 2018 09:59:48
There was no cooincidence that we were well on top and when Salah came off Chelsea had a decent spell of possession for 10 minutes. It lifted the whole crowd and their players to see him go off because whilst he’s on the pitch the opposition are always scared of what he can do.

4.) 30 Sep 2018 10:12:29
As Ed01 says if Salah is still suffering from his shoulder pain its a good idea to Substitute him early or send him on the pitch at later stages of the game for 4-5 matches.

{Ed001's Note - it is not really pain that will be the problem, it is the body's memory of the pain, that makes it change its way of moving from the natural to avoid the pain. Then he has to relearn how to move naturally again afterwards, which, I believe, is the point he is at now.}

5.) 30 Sep 2018 11:34:12
Nothing wrong with salah just form happens to everyone don't understand why he is being singled out when firmino and mane have been equally poor so far, certainly think sturridge should getting more game time maybe not the work rate but more of a goal threat.

29 Sep 2018 19:22:54
I recently criticized Studge for being bang average the past few appearances. I'll have 3 slices of humble pie and eat them with the biggest grin.

1.) 29 Sep 2018 19:34:03
That’s 4 goals this season as a bit part player. Deserves more credit than he’s had so far.

2.) 29 Sep 2018 19:39:30
What if I say Sturridge should start every game from now on?

3.) 29 Sep 2018 19:47:11
Studge can’t play with the intensity of Bobby so we lose a bit when he starts. Chelsea found it too easy to play out from the back on Wednesday. As an impact sub though he could be invaluable.

4.) 29 Sep 2018 20:18:49
Kudos to Klopp for making those subs brave calls and the right ones as well as it turned out
very very happy tonight I must say
Nice to see we can bring off Salah and still get the results when needed.

5.) 29 Sep 2018 20:23:57
He's scored every game. He is always capable of what he did today. I thought we deserved something from the game too, now we have to beat them at home. Good team though, they will push us this season.

6.) 29 Sep 2018 21:15:31
I think Sturridge deserves more minutes.

{Ed025's Note - i think cameo performances suit both him and the club deejay..

7.) 29 Sep 2018 21:37:42
Super sub studge.
Reminds me of years ago when united used to win the league all the bloody time, they always used to have a so called super sub who would always seem get them out of the $hit whenever things were not going their way.

8.) 29 Sep 2018 21:43:48
I think being an impact sub suits Sturridge perfectly, even though his ego may want to start every game. Putting the ball into the net is his skill. But pressing and work rate and passing off to the other 2 in front, are not his strong points. The team is not the same without that. Neither is Mane's and Salah's game.

9.) 29 Sep 2018 22:21:25
We used to have our own Super Sub - David Fairclough. I remember watching him in games and he almost always delivered. Red haired, gangly string bean.

10.) 30 Sep 2018 01:20:08
I have always said that the best CF in England in terms of natural talent, is NOT and will NEVER be Harry Kane. Studger is THAT dude. Take a bow, son!

11.) 30 Sep 2018 01:48:12
That's true mickey. That norweigan kid. I think Danny could be that man. Also if one of the front three gets injured then Danny provides very good cover.

But he is joint top scorer, he has to at least be considered to start and to definitely come on as a sub if not.

12.) 30 Sep 2018 18:04:58
Short backlift and England’s best technique. Never doubted his skills! He is a world class striker who has been let down by his injuries!

13.) 30 Sep 2018 18:04:25
Just goes to show that form is temporary, class is permanent. He is such a useful option for us. Wouldn't be surprised if he got an England call-up soon. Just hope and pray he doesn't get injured.

14.) 30 Sep 2018 18:05:20
He should always come on at 60 mins at this point as mane and salah are off their game and need a kick by being subbed. I don't think sturridge should start every game though because I don't think his body can handle it. Should only start studge if no other option.

15.) 30 Sep 2018 18:06:54
Remember firmino against psg same kind of thing it just means we have 2 very capable number 9s instead of having memory loss and bigging one player up one week then another the next when they score a great goal. It's great to be able to bring a player on that can change the game something we have missed in previous seasons.
As for the result a draw away against a team that will finish third imo is a very good result.

20 Jul 2018 04:38:58
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about this signing, but what a signing it could be! Gosh I hope it works out. Literally counting down the days to the opener!

In other news, Anyone notice how Waro's gone missing lately? 😋.

1.) 20 Jul 2018 06:12:35
Waro is sitting on a sunny beach with Harry i’m guessing haha.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 09:00:47
I have been thinking the same. We will have to wait for our first loss to here from him. Nothing personal but let's hope it's a long way away.

19 Jul 2018 13:50:26
Hi Ed002, you mentioned that Liverpool already has too many players to register for the premier league squad. (How many do we need to offload? ) With seemingly all incomings this window from us, does that make negotiations harder for our outgoings? I imagine the club is banking on making some of this money back by selling players, but I feel we always end up loaning everyone when we do this because we can't find buyers.

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I have answered this,.}

20 Jun 2018 15:00:34
Here I was sad that Arsenal have let Jack go. It was always so comforting seeing him in their midfield.

Then I read negativeredwalter thinks we could have a "great player" on our hands if he signed. And then I was even more sad.

1.) 20 Jun 2018 15:44:01
He smokes more than me Nan and spends the summers at pool parties in Las Vegas

He’d be half decent if it was 1987.

2.) 20 Jun 2018 17:47:15
Rates himself too highly and has no end product.

Shocking is hardly the word I’d use 025. He’s had some consistency issues but he will get over those. He’s still a kid, and part of one of the best defenses the league has seen mind you.

{Ed025's Note - a lot to learn then TJ..and shocking at times.. :)

Ed002 you’re the smartest rodeo clown and gentleman adventurer around. Thanks as always. I can’t see myself liking this change but at the end of the day I love the game. I’m sure I’d eventually come around to watching it. I can’t help but wonder what the finances would be like. Would they continue with a FFP sort of system that permits spend what you earn? Or perhaps an NBA/ NFL type salary cap? I would think this breakaway league would run the risk of setting up huge financial disparities just like current leagues are facing. Surely a breakaway league would want every team to be competitive.

Click To View This Thread

04 Nov 2018 04:53:29
Ed002 apologies if I misunderstood, but is this breakaway league designed to completely replace standard domestic league play? Or will teams still participate in their domestic league and just replace UCL/ cups. I understand if it’s the latter there would likely be adjustments made anyways but I was just curious.

{Ed002's Note - If the clubs get what they want then they will leave their existing leagues. If I had to speculate, I would think (1) you might eventually see something like five or six EPL teams leave for two-tier pan European league - but it won't be based on the UEFA rankings; (2) the Premier League would be disbanded as an organisation; (3) the FA would restructure in to two 20 team divisions with lower leagues regionalised as they were many years ago; (4) FIFA would ban all players from the breakaway teams from International football - perhaps rescinding that position to stop FIFA breaking up as well - they don't want further issues but the troubles are not going to go away. I could also see many teams lose their professional status. I would think we are probably 10 years away from any significant move at this time.

I hold a reasonably strong view in terms of the need to restructure football in Europe in any case. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroots sport get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis. For me, clubs should already recognise this and put their efforts in to getting there finances in order to see if they can make it to a British professional league that will need to flourish without perhaps six sides that have eventually gone down the pan-European route - and have gone for good (it would be two or perhaps three initially). Clubs like Accrington Stanley will need to carry on as amateurs or face extinction (yet again). Recently Hartlepool has been struggling - again it needs to adapt. The mighty Third Lanark have started their long journey back to the top - it can be done.

The game has changed significantly and will continue to do so whether the Liverpool supporters like it or not. Football at the highest level is big business and attracts the sponsorship it does because the sponsors wish to tap in to the disposable income of the fans and ride the back of the advertising that flows naturally from the success some clubs achieve. Long gone are the days of the cloth-capped, hobnailed-booted, chimney sweep making his way, rattle in hand, to cheer on his team at Anfield on a Saturday afternoon. I have explained that there will be changes, probably within the next 10 to 12 years, which will force the restructuring of all of the leagues in Europe and likely do away with the likes of UEFA. You will have the opportunity to see the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus and the other major European sides play in week-on-week regular competition at The Emirates, St James Park, Stamford Bridge or wherever. Fans of the sides who take the plunge will have the opportunity to visit cities such as Milan, Barcelona, Munich, etc. every couple of weeks to watch their team play. If you want to don your cloth cap, have a pint of wallop with your chums before going off to the local match through the grim, wet and cobbled streets of the Northwest of England where there is smog, dead & dying pit ponies laying on the street and only chips and fried curry to eat., perhaps one of the sides from the suburbs will have survived so you can go and watch them?

If UEFA get what they want they will tighten their grip but the existing leagues would be intact and they would have expand competitions that would bring more income.

If FIFA get what they want they will leverage the popularity of the European sides to leverage the Asian markets.}

I think we are still in a really good position. The biggest opportunities for city to drop points are still to come, especially Wednesday. As for Tottenham. they did us a huge favor. If we can focus and get past Barcelona then I’d have to think we are favorites against Ajax or spurs. even if both are not to be laughed at.

Hi Eds and Reds. In light of what happened today in the Aston villa match, I wanted to get your thoughts on the matter. I realize it’s not Liverpool related, but it’s football related as a whole. This effects all club and all fans.

There are a lot of pundits who are calling for swift, extreme action to be taken. All of them (that I heard) are suggesting multiple closed door matches and point deductions. Why is it that the clubs should be the only ones made example of?

That IDIOT was walked off the pitch pumping his fist in celebration, and a few were praising him for it. I get bitter rivalries. But this is just barbaric. That could have just as easily been some maniac with a knife. The precedent doesn’t need to just be set by the clubs. It needs to be STRICTLY punished by the government. Should the stewards have stopped him? Yeah, but they didn’t. I do not know the laws in England, but it has to come from government first. I say if you go on the pitch, you’re guaranteed years in prison, and a lengthy spell too.

What are your thoughts?

{Ed025's Note - this for me is a problem with society rather than a football problem Tj, this low life piece of crap could have done that anywhere but chose to do it at a football match, the solution...being less tolerant with filth like this who walk our streets, send him to prison for a decent length of time, forget all this serve half your time if your good...double it if your bad, bring back discipline in schools and stop making excuses for these out of control kids who think carrying a knife or any weapon is ok...will it happen...of course not...the do gooders wont let it mate..

I wouldn’t take that bet at 2,000 to 1 lol. You may sneak up and win as anything is possible, but 4 goals to against the best defense in the league this season?
