Wijnaldum signed. Good transfer.

1.) 22 Jul 2016 18:26:07
Wooooaaah fella, prepare to be abused for calling it a good transfer ;-)

2.) 22 Jul 2016 18:59:25
i agree. good signing. duno what dawfonaboat is on about.

3.) 22 Jul 2016 19:10:07
Seemed to come out of nowhere this one but I believe he will do well. Gives me a bit more optimism than when Lallana signed.

4.) 22 Jul 2016 19:19:54
69M for he and Mane, they have allot to prove.
ED's and members do you see Wijnaldum playing #10 centrally or out wide with his speed behind Coutnho-Mane-Firmino?

5.) 22 Jul 2016 19:22:06
sorry i mean johnnyr1970.

6.) 22 Jul 2016 19:42:50
You'll probably all bash me but I think it's a poor signing. Hope I'm proved wrong I think we need abit of strength and a leader in CM not someone who can do a job in a number of positions.

7.) 22 Jul 2016 20:06:46
Yipster, think he will play out wide, probs on the left.

8.) 22 Jul 2016 20:20:56
Theresonlyone88, i was referring to the amount of negative comment this transfer has drawn across the site over the past week or so - i don't actually have an opinion either way because I haven't really seen him play but it feels like some LFC fans have personally scouted him and deemed him inadequate.

9.) 22 Jul 2016 21:07:55
Yipster so you don't think we have enough in the centre with hendo, emre can, grujic, stewart, lucas and also ejario coming through.

10.) 22 Jul 2016 21:16:20
Wobsworth yh we have enough I prefer quality over quantity, I want us to grace Europe, like I said I hope I'm proved wrong and I'll be the first to hold my hands up. Lucas looks set to leave. Grujic is unproven though he looks exciting. Van is brilliant but raw and hendo leaves a lot to be desired. I'd just like an experienced head to sure things up. I want us to grace the champions league, just purchased bt sport lol.

11.) 22 Jul 2016 21:17:56
There is a feeling with nufc fans that if he doesn't play no 10, he's not effective.
I think klopp has his work cut out to get consistently good performances from this guy playing wide or deeper mf- but if anyone can do it, he can.

12.) 22 Jul 2016 21:26:37
Angus, maths not your strong suit?

13.) 22 Jul 2016 22:31:45
I like him, obviously talented also strong, quick and powerful
Looking forward to seeing him.

14.) 22 Jul 2016 22:35:50
He won't be playing on the left if Coutinho is still here neither will he play on the right with Mane already there and not no.10 with Firmino there so will the big fans of this signing enlighten me on where he will play as I have no clue.

15.) 22 Jul 2016 23:09:24
Cincyred, I guess its possible that we are actually buying a good quality player so that we have a good quality bench when the inevitable injuries happen, rather than with a specific starting place in mind?
I do think it will focus some players minds knowing a talented player like wijnaldum is chomping at the bit to take their place if they underperform.

16.) 22 Jul 2016 23:14:16
There are a few options with Widjnaldum but in essence I think his signing is a direct result of lack of goals from Milner, Joe Allen and Llalana. I'd see him as someone to transition play swiftly to the forwards and score goals through arriving late in the box.

More specifically I suspect he'll be used at
1) left midfield in a 4-3-3 (ie direct Joe Allen replacement)
2) perhaps at no.10 if using Firmino as a false 9 (or resting Firmino)
3) As impact sub for either Mane or Coutinho out wide
4) very selectively at deeper midfield to rest Hendo or Can.

17.) 23 Jul 2016 00:02:12
A goal scoring midfielder - he'll do well. Don't worry about Wijnaldum.

18.) 23 Jul 2016 00:57:34
Another attacking midfielder.

19.) 23 Jul 2016 02:11:51
Wijnaldum = strength and speed of Bolaise, football brains of sneijder. Good catch.

20.) 23 Jul 2016 04:02:37
Non of cout, Lallana, Firmino are a no.10. Wini will fit right there.

21.) 23 Jul 2016 04:39:01
Sorry Worro, I know the GBP isn't what is used to be (a month ago) : p.

22.) 23 Jul 2016 10:30:07
He plays for Liverpool now so what ever happens let's support him and hope he plays as well as we know he can but more regularly than he did through the back half of last season.

Bob Bradley is covering super sunday for TV2 Norway today. He's certain Brendan will be gone if they don't perform today.

04 Oct 2015 03:32:51
Klopp has signed a three year deal with Liverpool according to the second Swedish newspaper Expressen.

They quote a Bosnian newspaper as a source with the link being Klopp's left hand man Zeljko Buvac, himself being Bosnian.

Make of that what you will.

22 Sep 2015 14:43:18
Calciomercatoweb running an "exclusive" story today that Liverpool are inte negotiations with Ancelotti's entourage. Make of that what you will. Don't know whether they are a reliable source or not.

05 Aug 2015 15:51:55
Fiorentina in talks with us over the permanent transfer of Borini. Permanent deal on the table.

Crystal Palace with three clean sheets in a row with Sakho in the team. Well done!

1.) 20 Mar 2017 12:45:52
Ed do you think we will hold on to Zaha?

2.) 20 Mar 2017 13:05:18
Great. Let's recoup some much needed cash in the summer. £20 mill would be brilliant.

3.) 20 Mar 2017 19:06:57
Personally, I'd love to see Matip/ / Sakho.

{Ed025's Note - more chance of matip/messi dwarf..

4.) 21 Mar 2017 10:43:53
Great, the transfer fee will only go up when we sell him.

27 Jun 2016 21:53:01
Not football related but you got to give it up to Iceland. Wow! They show that football is a team sport. Such fight!

1.) 27 Jun 2016 21:57:46
Meant not Liverpool-related.

2.) 27 Jun 2016 22:03:19
"26 Jun 2016

England are not on the QF's.
Ron Keague"

Ahem (FAO muscatred and LH9)

3.) 27 Jun 2016 22:09:48
Brexit came early 😂.

4.) 27 Jun 2016 22:42:47
And often too, dwarf.

5.) 27 Jun 2016 22:46:59
Ron, I'll take that one on the chin. I can't believe a team with that much talent played that badly though. It doesn't make sense.

6.) 27 Jun 2016 22:50:20
Never knew there was a british football team Wales are going to be disappointed to know their out because of this.

7.) 27 Jun 2016 22:54:01
Are they REALLY that talented?
They are better XI than Iceland but they are nothing like Spain, Germany, Belgium etc.
English players benefit from the best players playing with them in the premier league. They make English players look better than they are IMO.

But, if you insist they are that talented, it obviously reinforces the fact that Teamspirit, Motivation, organisation and Tactics, Discipline and hard work beats "talented individuals" every time.

8.) 28 Jun 2016 11:38:55
I agree Ron, in terms of English players we have declined drastically. You look at the euro 2004 team and think how the hell we didn't achieve anything. Managers have always been a problem for us as well. Now, apparently Gareth bloody Southgate is the favourite for the England job. This just sums up the FA.

05 Nov 2015 17:03:26
Lovren and Sakho together. Will be interesting to see if Lovren can perform alongside brilliant Sakho.

04 Oct 2015 21:23:52
Gianluca DiMazio has confirmed Liverpool are in contact in Klopp and that he believes a deal will be struck.

He's been pretty reliable in the past.

30 Sep 2015 13:24:15
Does anyone have any info as to the result of our meeting with CA?

{Ed002's Note - Unless Macca can enlighten us then no, I can't help at all. Ancelotti will be in England later this week to deal with a couple of matters unrelated to Liverpool.}

1.) 30 Sep 2015 14:22:40
So, officially on other business. Perhaps a coffee at our London office?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean by "officially".}

2.) 30 Sep 2015 14:53:11
Let's just leave it at that :) Thanks for getting back to me! You guys are awesome.

3.) 30 Sep 2015 16:50:04
Dwarfonaboat, it's been said many times by Ed002 that Carlo Ancelotti has a side project or something along those lines. It's probably to do with that if anything.

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with that and a visit to a match.}

4.) 30 Sep 2015 17:33:11
Ed is his side project trolling liverpool fans? :)

Joking lads :)

5.) 30 Sep 2015 18:06:52
He'll be going to see the Chelsea board.

6.) 30 Sep 2015 19:32:04
What is Ancelotti's side project, I'm intrigued?

{Ed002's Note - Unimportant to Liverpool and I am not sure if it is common knowledge.}

7.) 01 Oct 2015 19:52:33
"What is Ancelotti's side project, I'm intrigued?"

Laminating his conservatory and digging a pond.

We need an experienced keeper bringing stability tomour backline. We have done and failed with the young keeper strategy.

Pickford just reeks of Mignolet all over again. Get an older, more experienced keeper in the side. Stability not youngsters from the back.

Every signing is a gamble, Ron. All you can do is minimize the risk and sign players with a high ceiling. Brandt certainly fits the bill of being a player in a position of need of high quality and potential.

Can couldn't read the game if the game was read to him and that's unfortunately very hard to coach. You either have it or you don't.

Problem today was putting Lucas in a high line against Vardy. Klopp needs much better defenders to bail out his very offensive style of football. We need two towers in there to deal with direct long balls and crosses. And Matip should bulk up a little bit.

Gomez is not exactly brimming with pace is he. The problem is team selection, i other words Lucas marking Vardy. It is fully possible and at times highly effective to defend in a high line against pacy attackers even with slow defenders. But then you need two towers at CB claiming the more direct long balls. We all know Lucas ain't no tower. The management team screwed up badly this gameweek but what's even worse is they don't seem to have any solutions in the current squad. Remember, experience is just as important as physical presence in a defensive line.
