Hi eds

Is there any foundation in the rumour flying around that Benteke has agreed personal terms with Besiktas?

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Eris Kismet agreed a personal package with Besiktas after Crystal Palace stepped back and Juventus declared that they had no interest and asked him to stop bothering them about Benteke, Besiktas want a loan with an option of buying which might not suit Liverpool. Any agreement to buy him would need Liverpool to reduce the significant asking price considerably.}

Thanks Ed002.

Flanno to burnley just announced as 12 month loan.

31 Mar 2016 10:42:38
Is it true is it true?

Balotelli's agent is in talks with Jiansu Suning in regards to a €15M per year move?

Or has there been any interest in him at all so far

Great news if it turned out to be true

Fingers and toes crossed.

1.) 31 Mar 2016 12:25:31
Always thought this move made sense - have you seen the fireworks at Chinese new year?

3.) 31 Mar 2016 12:55:14
Any news on this one Eds?

{Ed002's Note - His agent is not in China nor having any direct discussions with any interested clubs although there have been enquiries from Turkey and from China - but there is no firm offer. His agent has been in Naples and Turin dealing with matters surrounding three other players and is coming to England to see three clubs about potential transfers.}

4.) 31 Mar 2016 13:51:47
Would Liverpool be on that list of 3 clubs?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Belated thank you Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Hi Eds

Various reports in Italian media just appearing online of reported interest in Sturridge from Napoli for €25m.

Surely we are not going to sell now after all the drama of his injuries and recovery times?

would the club be open to offers or will Liverpool wrap him in a bubble for the summer
(hopefully he gets through the Euros)

Or is this complete tripe?

Personally really hope it's just made up nonsense.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Napoli.}

1.) 15 Mar 2016 23:31:29
Has anyone shown interest in Sturridge ed?

{Ed002's Note - No Sturridge has been sidelined with a lengthy injury problem.}

2.) 16 Mar 2016 07:43:49
I think if the asking price was that low a couple of people would be interested if he stayed fit until the end of the season.

3.) 16 Mar 2016 10:59:19
Who said what the asking price was?

4.) 16 Mar 2016 12:49:29
Well EdFar seeing as you decided to be anal about it:

'They are interested in signing at x price' indicates that they believe they can sign at x price. It would therefore follow that they believe that x price is the asking price.

Should this not be the logical following then the core of the statement becomes absolutely meaningless - y team want to sign z player at x price is even more of a non-report than it already is for good players because of the ability to sub prices in and out at will e. g. Barnet FC are interested in signing Messi for £500 - maybe true, but it's also nonsense.

The exception to this is when the 'report' goes on to state that this is short of the valuation of the player by their current club (or states an alternative valuation)

We good here?

5.) 16 Mar 2016 14:32:30

That about sums it all up, well done mate on that ever extremely detailed answer. 👍🏻

You may have an apprentice who may be of interest to you here.

Reply of the year contender in my opinion.

Don't forget to close that tiny box you just put him into.

6.) 17 Mar 2016 03:27:24
Hey hjikle for someone who obviously regards him, her or itself as something of a logician you might want to try the first sentence again .

" They are interested in signing at x price' indicates that they believe they can sign at x price. It would therefore follow that they believe that x price is the asking price. "

You are, of course, making an assumption that there actually is an asking price (and you were going so well until the last bit. Why because somebody may want to buy something do you automatically assume that the current owner wants to sell it? As you say, if you don't accept the assumption or the assumption is false then the rest is just meaningless word play.

Whilst it is very refreshing to find somebody who believes press reports I think I'd have to disagree with your evaluation of the current situation.

However, let's accept your assumption as being true . I'm going to make an assumption that you may never have been involved in [ I'll be kind and say 'complex '] financial negotiations - if the assumption is erroneous then do please accept my humble apologies - but to assume that an opening bid matches the seller's expectation is, to be kind, quite naive. Rather (if the selle is any good) it sets the field for the seller to announce their (much higher) price. I believe that this opens the door to what is called negotiation or 'bargaining'

Of course it is also quite possible that a mischievous little imp has let slip a figure to various members of the fourth estate to 'test the waters' so to speak, perhaps to draw Sturridge's agent out into the open. That again would suggest that the assertion that it would "therefore follow" that the figure mentioned was the "asking price" was slightly wide of the mark

So I'll ask you specifically - how do you know there is an asking price for Sturridge and, if there is, how do you know what it is?

{Ed001's Note - obviously, for all your attempt at being clever, this is going over your head. No one has said it was the asking price, what was said is that if it was that low there would be no shortage of offers. You are so busy trying to pretend to be clever you are making a fool of yourself.}

7.) 17 Mar 2016 17:53:15
Wel said eddds (spelling)

Hi eds

Quick question

It's being reported Xabi Alonso will be moving on this summer, would he be a potential option for Liverpool this summer for maybe one season I think Emre Can could do with a player of his stature and experience within the squad as he could learn so much from him, I know he is 34 now but the guy is still world class and a true hero here as well would be great to see him back even if it was coming on off the bench imagine himself hendo and Lucas in midfield while Emre could learn so much from him especially on his defensive area where he still seems poor in that area in the current position he is played in, don't get me wrong I personally am a fan of Emre but I do think someone like alonso in the squad competing for the same place could only help Emre as he is very young and has huge potential for the future

Would really appreciate your opinions.

{Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense at all - a backward step to presumably placate the large numbers of fans that live in the past. Disruptive to the team moving forward and any plans Klipperty Klopp has. Certainly adding him and his vast wages to the squad would displace the likes of Can rather than help him.

Makes zero sense.}

1.) 15 Nov 2015 16:35:07
Ok thanks

Was just thinking out loudly is all not living in the past I do hope can can work hard on his defensive work as I previously said he has really good potential but is young so presuming he is willing to learn from his mistakes take them on board and work hard, that goes for the rest of the squad as well bar a few

Moreno and Clyne to an extent

Who just are stuck in their ways or just not good enough for where we need to be

Thanks again for your input.

2.) 16 Nov 2015 07:48:38
You know players have coaches to learn from right? And in terms of defensive work, Can has Lucas to learn from if he needed to be copying another player.

3.) 16 Nov 2015 11:13:11
We should have brought him in this or even last season (if that been feasible) .

Makes less sense now that Lucas playing well and Can, Rossiter, Chirivella will have had another year under their belts and can be considered credible backup.

4.) 16 Nov 2015 11:32:45
Hjikle I don't think there's any advantage from copying another player, when can is younger and can also be potentially in the long term a better player than lucas, Zimbo I totally agree with you it would have been great but like ED02 said it doesn't really make sense for a lot of reasons, let's just hope Klipperty and his coachin staff can work him hard on his defence as he has all the attributes of being a top class midfielder like rossiter, both ones to hold onto and ones to watch for the future

5.) 16 Nov 2015 18:28:24
Alonso have not even legs for qatari league at this point.

Hi Ed002

Can I ask if liverpool have ever looked at Blaise Matuidi? And if so what is the opinion on him?

{Ed002's Note - No, and typically that will be the answer when asked about random players.}

05 Mar 2017 03:34:00
I see lots of praise of fhe usual suspects yet again and some others yet again bereaiting Emre can ( without solid foundation in regards him which I find very unfair) . That being said there's one player who got a shed load of stick before even kicking a ball in the mighty reds shirt.

€30m on Wijnaldum.

Well I have said it from the day he signed that he would be one of the priceless key elements of the squad and yet again today he has shown that and finished off with finishing off a fantastic piece of counter attacking.
Hi positioning on and off the ball is brilliant, his distribution is very good and his defensive qualities when required are just as good.

For me he has been one of the top 3 players based on performances this season so far. It is sometimes the player you least notice on the pitch that is the key element to a successful season and his link up play and break down of the ball when defending or attacking is exemplary.

A note on James Milner, please please please MR. Klopp hold onto him this summer the guy is amazing no matter where you play him as he will alwayys give 110%. Yes he has his failings at times as does Wijnaldum and the rest of the squad but nobody is perfect not even Messi or Ronaldo.
( no I am not compairing )

Are there changes needed in certain areas?

Was the leicester result a blip well yes and no for a lot of reasons.

Our aim was to challenge for the title, by monday evening we will still be in the top 4. Ok I don't think we can win but 2nd is very very possible and come the summer if we can find 4 key quality players who would be in the starting 11 most games then we can challenge if not dominate next season.

Mistakes have been made on and off the field but if you learn from your mistakes you can only improve.

Good performance today, not great in my opinion because the gunners are a shambles right now but its the result we needed.

Keep the faith Chelsea have a lot of tough games ahead and funnier things have happened in the past and I ain't hearing no fat lady sing yet.

1.) 05 Mar 2017 04:13:36
Wijinaldum has been hot and cold all season. If he played the way he did against Arsenal week in week out you'd be making a fair point but he doesn't, he goes missing frequently. I know we played well against Arsenal and Gini had a good game but for people to suddenly start touting him as one of our best players this season in madness. He is good, and works in the system well, when he turns up. When he performs like he did against Leicester he offers nothing. He has been OK, not awful by any stretch but certainly not as amazing as you are making him out to be.

2.) 05 Mar 2017 05:19:43
Seano - so basically Gini needs to turn up every game in order otherwise the rest of the team has no chance?

3.) 05 Mar 2017 09:45:55
Didn't mention anything about the rest of the team simply said that Wiji disappears in more games than he produces in and that to call him one of our best players on the back of one of his good performances is incorrect (in my opinion) .

4.) 05 Mar 2017 13:49:52
Your picking now seano just to backup your own opinion the facts are there if you actually watched all the games he played in this season.

5.) 05 Mar 2017 16:13:00
With the exception of one or two I have watched every game this season. He disappears more than he produces. I'm not saying he is terrible, he's decent, but people making a case for him to be player of the season? That's just stupid for a player who simply hasn't been that good.

6.) 05 Mar 2017 18:25:43
Completely agree savvy. 90% of people were so against his signing that a large section of them will never admit they got it wrong.

I have it between Gini and Mane for player of the season. Incredible considering this is Gini's first season in a top league as a deeper midfielder. He has only ever really played behind a striker or on the left prior to it. He has just got better and better every week.

7.) 05 Mar 2017 20:36:14
Thanks MK
At least there's someone out there with a footballing brain that actually understood my post rather than picking points from certain things I said and twisting them totally.

Your totally right as well about those people who refuse to admit when they were totally wrong.

8.) 05 Mar 2017 21:50:06
my point is - the whole team has blown hot and cold this season. coutinho blows more cold than hot at the best of times. but to just single out gini makes me think that his performance is so crucial that the whole team's performance depends on gini turning up! we all know that isn't the case, because the lot of em are on their own roller coaster journey!

01 Feb 2017 15:30:33

Can I ask you aomething now that the window is pretty much closed apart from ones that are ongoing due to exceptional circumstancesm

Was there or has there been any serious enquiries regarding any of our top players juring this window innregarfs availablility now or in the forthcoming summer from any clubs and by that I mean any genuine serious interest?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 01 Feb 2017 17:42:47
Thanks ed002

30 Jan 2017 18:55:33
Just a reminder to all of the real loyal fans of LFC out there.

At the end of last season and during the summer some of the ED'S and regular posters were to be honest speaking the truth when they said that our top priority this season is

1) keeping a fit squad of players within reason
2) Finish in the top 4
3) bringing the younger talent gently into the 1st team as the season progress's
4) Working on our weakness's and building on our strengths
5) keeping an eye on potential targets for the summer of 2018
6) Replacing Ian Ayre with a suitable candidate when he steps down
7) Have the new stand ready
8) Reduce our vast Debt as much as possible year on year

To all of the negative posters out there slating players and their performances. these guys have worked their ass's pff all season yes there has been highs and lows but for gods sake if you really want to be called a true lover of the club and what it used to stand for and can once again, stand up and be heard.

shout from your couch, the pub the stands, the streets wherever when there's a game on no matter how good or bad it is going.

Our goals were set and many this season have already been achieved.

Stop complaining and support the club you say you love and let the roar in the stadium make everyones hair stand on the back of the oppenent's neck and frighten the life out of them.

We have over acheicvied in may ways this season already ( Ignore the Cups ) the priorities are stated above.

Sorry guys just had to get that off my chest.

{Ed002's Note - The top priority was to win the elague.}

1.) 30 Jan 2017 19:05:45
Problem is ed that was top priority for at least 5 other teams, 6 if you want to include Arsenal!

{Ed002's Note - So? That is the target - that has been the target since the owners have arrived. The problem is that for many years the team has not had a manager who has been able to make a fist of it and achieve or get close to fighting for the goal. And I know all about the transition that Liverpool has been in since 1986.}

2.) 30 Jan 2017 19:09:23
How much more money comes in from winning the league?

{Ed002's Note - It is a sliding scale but it opens the door to additional commercial revenue and sponsorship.}

3.) 30 Jan 2017 19:15:14
Was Rodgers not close in 2014 Ed? I'd say he was or at least 'fighting for the goal' as you put it.

{Ed002's Note - Sure, but he didn't win it and nobody remembers the people who come second - howver hard the fans choose to celebrate failure. And Rodgers is no longer available so won't be coming back to help out.}

4.) 30 Jan 2017 19:17:38
And we won the league in 1990 so the transition started then. Nothing to be proud of I know but just needed to correct you on your lack of knowledge when comes to all matters LFC.

{Ed002's Note - But not the Premier League of course.}

5.) 30 Jan 2017 19:17:42
I thought we nearly won the league a few years ago ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yep nearly.}

6.) 30 Jan 2017 19:53:35
Ed any owner who would what to win the league would go and spend and buy proven players when the come 2rd but no ares thought let's go and buy 5-6 players who could become good. And you replace Suarez with balotelli.

These owners are after one thing and that's making money of Liverpool football club

{Ed002's Note - Thank you for sharing your pig ignorance.}

7.) 30 Jan 2017 20:13:30
Pipe dream by the owners. Whilst i agree that the owners have made several cock ups in picking poor managers i firmly believe that while they have invested in players over their 7 seasons, it is no where near the level really required to muscle the likes of Chelsea or Man City out of the way to win that "Holy Grail". Should Liverpool have done better than finishing 6th or 8th in the League? Most certainly! That to me was a massive under achievement but saying that, winning the league would have been a massive over acheivement in my opinion. We would have needed a manager to work a minor miracle, clearly Kenny or Rodgers were not those managers and i personally think that any extra amount of money that they were given would have been wasted.

8.) 30 Jan 2017 20:39:51
I love the irony in slagging off the owners for not spending money while calling yourself "Matip is boss", a free signing.

9.) 30 Jan 2017 21:21:50
Oh so we are just talking premier league? In that case the transition started in 1992 then. Thanks ed keep going this transition gets shorter with each of your replies.

{Ed002's Note - You are making yourself look like a real jerk given Liverpool's failure to achieve in the league. The constant and feeble excuse of transition is embarrassing.}

10.) 30 Jan 2017 21:55:10
Rooneys hairline has been in transition since 1986.

11.) 30 Jan 2017 22:38:06
I Agree with ED002 with regards aiming for the title win but being realistic and I think it was yourself ED002 or ed001 that said top 4 was goal and anything else was a bonus, we have suprised many this season already but you never know there's a long way to go and some really big games to come and hopefully after that it could very well a three horse race up until the end and I do of course hope we are one of the three.

12.) 31 Jan 2017 01:16:09
You mentioned transition ed not me. You're making yourself look a complete jerk with the constant goading and mickey taking. I was just trying to fill in the obvious gaping holes in your football knowledge.

13.) 31 Jan 2017 02:30:30
True pips spot on mate in all your posts.

14.) 31 Jan 2017 05:44:49
What manager women the first prem title?
Was it a certain Mr Kenneth Dalglish.

Please don't mention Kenny and Rodgers in the same sentence.

Kenny managed more in his first full season than everyone since joined together.

Kenny should have come back home after Jack Walkers Blackburn.
And what a team that was.

15.) 31 Jan 2017 05:52:46
Sorry Ed about my last post.
Kenny won in 94 with Blackburn.
My mistake.

Would I be right in saying that Kenny is the only manager to win the English league top title with 2 different clubs?

{Ed002's Note - Herbert Chapman would be one - Clough another. There was also another Liverpool manager who did it more than 100 years ago but I don't recall his name - I am sure someone will help out here.}

16.) 31 Jan 2017 09:31:18
No won is debating Kenny's status among Liverpool fans. He is the only one that they should look up to for all he has done for the club and surrounding area but bringing up winning a League in 94 has no relevance with managing a modern day club 20 years later.

17.) 01 Feb 2017 04:02:49
Irish rover surely you agree that Kenny team in his first full season had won more silverware than any since in their first full season in charge unless of course we win the prem this year.
That wasn't 2p years ago and I believe of fsg had the balls to stick with him we would have had more success instead of giving Rodgers 100s of millions to buy players who would show great character.

01 Jan 2017 04:02:00
Where's all the wjnaldum people now that were slagging him off since he arrived.

Under a rock I bet

This guy is improving game on game, he's like a silent assassin in play you don't realise he's there but he's always involved in the important build up and backtracking that many have not noticed.

1.) 01 Jan 2017 05:41:43
I always felt he needed a crackerjack moment savvy, as you say he has quietly gone about his business, he showed us exactly why he was purchased with this performance and capped it off with a trademark goal, plus if Henderson is injured we are going to need more displays from him like he gave against city, I hope he now becomes more confident in a Liverpool shirt.

2.) 01 Jan 2017 08:08:26
Kingkenny7 - gini find more confidence in the jersey or the fans find more confidence in him wearing the jersey!?

3.) 01 Jan 2017 08:55:21
both faith, the more support we give him, the better he will play, its a win, win situation for both parties.

4.) 01 Jan 2017 09:13:29
He's played really well in a few games recently but that goal last night, he nearly bust the net with that header.

5.) 01 Jan 2017 09:24:09
With ya kk! On that note, Would love to see Anfield rocking all game to spur the boys on. Can feel the tension all the way thru me telly lol.

6.) 01 Jan 2017 11:08:16
Wijnaldum played well yesterday and got a goal, It doesn't suddenly mean he's played well in every previous game! I never got the logic of ''i told you so'' from 1 very good game in 19, there are still plenty of times he's not composed enough in the last 3rd and surrenders possession in games as he gets cught in 2 minds and that he's too bus pointing at players where he wants them, and completely abandoning his own player to mark who's running 5 yards off him.

He played a vital part in a good team ethic yesterday, but 1 game does not make an entire season.

In other words can he do
