Eds, is Ron-Robert Zieler a possibility? I think ed001 said we may have looked at him in the past, not sure on that though.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

26 Aug 2014 15:26:51
Ed002/001, with Cech being available, and Liverpool seemingly being interested in a GK, is it even remotely possible that we may look to him to resolve that? I understand Romero is of interest & it's unlikely that we've ever shown an interest, but I'm just wondering if it's impossible.

{Ed002's Note - The interest in Cech is from Real Madrid, Monaco and PSG. Not from Liverpool.}

I am told we are set to reenter negotiations with Sevilla following Bertrand's loan to Southampton.

1.) 31 Jul 2014 14:27:53
If we r aspas is doing all he can to tell him to stay away from Liverpool.

2.) Hope so . rate moreno highly

3.) Yeah Tommy, can't see a welcome way back for Aspas. if there was ever one.
No class.

I'm really happy with the win and that performance but it really does highlight that our struggles against the so called lesser teams seems to be an attitude problem, I didn't see anyone on the ground which is a surprise considering Klopp was so naive in putting the team through a mini-preseason so I don't think fitness has anything to do with it.

Wijnaldum is turning into the most frustrating player in the team, great performance tonight. The whole back four played well, I think Klavan especially and while he's not someone you would want starting every week he is an upgrade on Skrtel to say the least. Lallana was out of this world at times with his closing down and his vision - summed up with his involvement in the third goal.

I'm really pleased that we won, but we must take this opportunity and use it to push for the top 4 now.

1.) 04 Mar 2017 22:08:42
Its looking like less an atitude problem and more a tactical problem.

Where 1 week away from the enzt match and only fans. Yet we know burnley will. sit the whole team behind yhe ball and counter.

The tacics tonight won't work next week.

Thats the problem. There is no need to press when you have the ball. We will have 70% next week.

So its about finiding a way to win.

Scout burnlet and find wrakness in how they play and build a team that can exploit that. If they don't like pace then throw moreno and mane on the wings and play yhem. as wide. as they will. don't have 7 number 10's tryig to pass thete way through the middle.

Bit of talk about Raymond Verheijen, even Ed002 with a comment about his 'warning' to Klopp (Which I assume was a bit tongue in cheek) as fitness is clearly not the issue at the minute.

I feel like we've had 2 significant injuries (Matip's extended because of the uncertainty) December through January, although until recently people thought we were coping well without them. We were completely dominant against Southampton, we didn't create A LOT of chances but we created enough to score at least 2 (Sturridge over the bar twice around the six yard box) . The goal we conceded was on the counter attack from shouts for a penalty dismissed in our favor late on in the game, we needed a goal. I think we missed Gini big time around Southampton's box, Can is a little slow and not as energetic, as much as I like him.

It certainly wasn't a stellar performance (nor has recent form), and it's obviously disappointing to go out in the semis, but looking on the bright side we have Coutinho and Matip back. TAA can develop into a top drawer player in that right back decision as he's so effective going forward, at times he was the only one seizing the initiative in creating chances - even more exciting given he didn't let the occasion of a semi-final frighten him. Feel free to disagree, but I think we look in great shape in the mid to long term and we should just enjoy the ride. I'm sure Ed002 said a while ago it would be a bit like a Roller-coaster, as prescient as ever.

1.) 27 Jan 2017 21:15:46
TAA was great going forwards but his crossing was terrible, definitely needs to work on that as the last couple of games I've seen him play, he does great getting up the pitch but it's that final ball in that let's him down. Still, he's young and will get better and I think will be a real quality right back for us, eventually

2.) 27 Jan 2017 23:05:54
That's unfair on TAA, BP. Alright some went astray, but you'd expect that from a young lad and for the most part his crosses were right in the danger area and miles better than Clyne manages game after game after game. TAA is one of the very few that have come out of the last couple of matches with any credit.

3.) 28 Jan 2017 00:07:55
I disagree, BPP. Some of the crosses TAA put in were peaches had the strikers made the necessary runs instead of being behind the play at times. He`s actually a better crosser than Clyne, IMO.

Fornax, I agree with you, on the whole. The team is just lacking in confidence and a confident team would have converted those chances and gotten that penalty call cos it was clear as day. We just need an important win to get us back on track and hopefully Tues will be the day but before then, we have to beat Wolves.

As for the Raymond fella, he needs to give it a rest. The injuries we suffered are joint injuries like the heel and Ankles for Hendo, Matip and Couts. Not muscle injuries where the strain of training and physical effort is mainly felt, IMO. We are having a rough time for diverse reasons but I doubt the ftness thing, is the issue.

4.) 28 Jan 2017 09:57:28
TAA do need to work on his end product, both decisions and executing. But he has so many other things going for him and will be a great player for us for many years. His first touch is on par with Couthinos, pace, positioning going forward, short-& midrange passing are all very good and will get even better as he matures as a player.

20 Jan 2017 22:05:31
Matip has clearance to play for us during AFCON, wonder if he'll start tomorrow.

1.) 20 Jan 2017 22:28:03
Dont think he will start, as Klopp will have set up his defence with practise drills, but this is great news, and a real lift for the club .

2.) 21 Jan 2017 07:41:29
He'll be needed next week

18 Nov 2016 00:22:08
If Coutinho is out for the saints game I hope Sturridge capitalises on this chance to impress, he does seem like the natural replacement.

Who do you guys think will replace him? I suppose Origi may also have a chance as he's a bit more energetic, although, fitness permitting, that would ultimately give us our answer about whether Sturridge will be moved on.

1.) 18 Nov 2016 09:26:14
Do you really think we would sell him in January and leave us with firmino and Origi.

2.) 18 Nov 2016 10:28:33
It's a squad game and we will deal with injuries like every other team. Will be interesting to see how he goes without lallana and coutinho but origi, Sturridge etc are good players I'm still confident.

3.) 18 Nov 2016 10:29:45
Where did I say we'd sell him in January?

4.) 18 Nov 2016 10:47:55
bobby daniel mane
can hendo wiji
mili lovren matip clyne

5.) 18 Nov 2016 12:11:20
I think we should try Ejaria. It sounds crazy but that kid looks so composed he could become something.

6.) 18 Nov 2016 12:58:13
What are people's thoughts on Ings' Liverpool future?

Was showing some great form and hen broke down again, which is such an utter shame for the lad.

Does anyone (maybe the Eds? ) have any info on whether the injuries he has suffered in the last 2 years are just awful, rotten luck of they point to a more serious underlying problem?

{Ed001's Note - as I said before we signed him, he has an underlying problem, hence his release as a youngster.}

7.) 18 Nov 2016 13:25:33
Thanks Ed001, that's a real shame. The guy deserves a break.

8.) 18 Nov 2016 14:31:37
Gutted about ings without injuries he could be the real deal but I can't help but think we'll never see it in him, yes he's still young but nah, his time at Liverpool is about up imo. Believe me, nobody more then myself hopes I'm wrong but I don't believe I am, far too injury prone and can't be relied on which is a real shame but it is what it is. We move on.

9.) 18 Nov 2016 14:31:41
Noski, if playing Ejaria sounds crazy, it definitely is. Grujic is further ahead than Ejaria and even he shouldn1`t play. If Couts can`t play, Studge and Origi can step in as they did last season when we thumped them on their own patch 6-1 with an Origi hatrick and a Studge brace.

10.) 18 Nov 2016 16:22:06
Sorry Hamilton Red, I've got to disagree on that one, for me Grujic has struggled at times this season whereas Ejaria has blended in seamlessly in every game he's played, he had a vital role in the 6th against Watford too. I think that's the reason Klopp has brought him on in the last few games over Grujic, don't get me wrong i think Grujic could develop into a top player but in terms of form, Ejaria is way ahead for me atm.

11.) 19 Nov 2016 13:38:10
At times? How many times has Grujic actually played for you to conclude he's struggled and how many times has Ejaria played to show he's better? 3 and 2 games respectively. So you drew that illogical conclusion on both players after watching both play a combined amount of games I can count on one hand? Your point makes no sense, HX. Unlike you, I'm not drawing conclusions after cameo appearances as I take a full view of things. Grujic came highly rated with Inter, Bayern, and other clubs going for him after being one of the stars at the U20 World Cup which Serbia won. It took a phone call from Klopp to get him here as he had a range of clubs to pick from. That is why he's ahead of Ejaria even tho, Ejaria is a good player. Who will be better is anyone's guess as both need to play more to judge them fairly instead rushing to judgment after five combined games.

Preseason, against a Barcelona team far from match fit, but it's still hard not to get excited by that result and performance.

Mane, Klavan, Firmino, Stewart, Lovren and Origi all played extremely well imo. Klavan was very cool under pressure, only made 1 error that I could see and almost immediately atoned for it. Milner showed he can do a job at Left Back but does lack defensive awareness; not nearly as lacking as Moreno.

Henderson also impressed in spells, but the standout midfield performance has to go to Stewart for me, solid as a rock defensively with good product going forward. Mane will rightfully get all the plaudits on the first three goals, but Origi's influence can not be understated, especially in the second goal with that cute flick on for Mane.

It certainly bodes well for the season, especially against teams who like all the possession, but I still think we need to address left back as Moreno and Milner did let Barcelona in a few times through poor positioning.

Onwards and upwards for the reds I think,

PS: Can I just say a huge well done to the fans at the stadium for the noise and commitment, nearly 90,000 people turning up for a friendly!

1.) 06 Aug 2016 19:57:21
Big season for Origi, I think he has the talent to be something special. Pace, strength, physical presence, skill and he can finish combined with a good work ethic.

2.) 06 Aug 2016 21:19:35
Don't get all this Barcelona aren't match fit rubbish. They are at most a week behind us (but they have the Spanish Super Cup next week) and yes they made changes but then so did we! We completely changed our midfield and attack during the game and still ran out comfortable winners. Now we are seeing why Klopp wanted to add pace to the team. Win the ball and get it forward to a pacey attacker then support him with pace. Last season we would break forward and have one player in the box. Today it was 3 or 4 breaking into the box. Great to see against a very good side who are only a week away from competitive action.

3.) 06 Aug 2016 22:33:57
Missed out Lallana, he was brilliant first half, a free role in midfield seems to suit him more than on the right.

4.) 07 Aug 2016 00:26:39
Barcelona were not match fit yet had no issue dispatching Celtic and LC 3-1 and 4-2. Yet when we beat them 4-0 (especially after a first 30 mins where we ran them ragged) and where we were defensively solid, it was just a friendly. I don't much care much for friendlies that much BUT you want to see if your tactical ideas and all the work on the training pitch through out the preseason will come to fruition and boy, did it vs Barca. The way we played has Klopp written all over it. Pace, power, press and quick incisive passing with lethal accuracy. That is Klopp through and through and we blew them away. If people think Barcelona won't care they got owned by LFC in a showcase friendly at Wembley where Messi and Suarez played, they are deluding themselves. They got their bells rung today and they know it and won't be happy about it because they don't like to lose ever and they're not used to losing games.

I think you maybe right Harry, if they play him at CB they'll definitely not concede 4 goals again.

It's clear that he's unable to push for a place in our midfield with Henderson and Stewart apparently preferred by Klopp in that position. It could be a sign that Joe Gomez is nearing a return if Klopp is prepared to let Lucas go in January, and that's good news to me.

It will be a sad day when he goes but I think it's probably the best for both parties if he moves on so he can play more regularly and Liverpool can start playing our youngsters in this role, and with Henderson asserting himself as captain, Milner and Matip I say we have enough leaders in the dressing room at this moment in time.

What do you think Ed001?

This why we have a squad, it'd be foolish to the extreme to expect no injuries to key players over the season, the solution in this case seems fairly straightforward, in Wijnaldum coming back into the 11 in Lallana's stead.

A champions league winner apparently. Not sure about how directly he influenced that though .

It is absolutely sickening. I can't believe they've done this, it's clear that the players were the ones not turning up. Some of the Leicester players, if not most, should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for their effort in the PL this season. It's clearly not a tactical issue seem to be working fine in the Champions League, they got a good result yesterday.

TTNT you really do not convey a position of strength in an argument if you have to resort to petty, and veiled, threats of violence. Just some advice.

I'm totally fine waiting for Karius, I watched a few Mainz games last year and he was superb from what I remember. It's also a league with an abundance of good goalkeepers, Karius was recognized as the runner up for the league (pretty much a given with Neuer) .

He's already an improvement on Mignolet even if just for his high starting position, which allows the team to play as klopp wants. He also made a couple of really good instinctual saves in the cup games just as a taster. People forget that he broke his hand competing for a ball against Chelsea so I don't know where this idea of his being poor at coming for balls, perhaps this was true for his first few games for us but maybe that was more a confidence issue than ability? At £4.7m it could end up being the best business we've done in years; with a bit of patience from the fans.

Tottenham at Anfield was brilliant, the atmosphere was insane first hand. Given how poor the results were preceding the game everyone in the stands was up for it and after 10 minutes it felt like nothing had happened.
