Eds, is Ron-Robert Zieler a possibility? I think ed001 said we may have looked at him in the past, not sure on that though.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

26 Aug 2014 15:26:51
Ed002/001, with Cech being available, and Liverpool seemingly being interested in a GK, is it even remotely possible that we may look to him to resolve that? I understand Romero is of interest & it's unlikely that we've ever shown an interest, but I'm just wondering if it's impossible.

{Ed002's Note - The interest in Cech is from Real Madrid, Monaco and PSG. Not from Liverpool.}

I am told we are set to reenter negotiations with Sevilla following Bertrand's loan to Southampton.

1.) 31 Jul 2014 14:27:53

2.) Hope so . rate moreno highly

3.) Yeah Tommy, can't see a welcome way back for Aspas. if there was ever one.
No class.

I'd be really interested to hear Ed001's opinion on the Salah signing. Overall I'm happy with the signing, he's made great strides in his whole game since leaving Chelsea and has consistently provided end-product over the past 2 seasons. With Coutinho seemingly dropping into CM next I'm very excited to see what our attacking output will be next year. I have to say I'm slightly concerned about him not being a left-sided attacker primarily however, it is worth noting that our attackers often 'switched' positions in game last year.

If this is the plan then what an horrific proposition for our opponents next season. Pace to burn, technical wizardry and I feel a more potent edge to fully capitalize on all the chances we will create.

{Ed001's Note - I am happy with the signing, he is what we needed, as he allows Mane to switch to the left. Just have to hope he settles in England this time around, because he has a point to prove now.}

1.) 23 Jun 2017 14:38:35
Thanks for the prompt reply Ed, my only concern RE: Mane on the left is that We'd potentially miss out on having a true winger on the pitch, but I suppose this could be easily adjusted with reference to our opposition.

2.) 23 Jun 2017 15:26:28
Ed with mane right footed and salha left is playing them on those sides the way forward? They will both naturally want to cut in.

{Ed001's Note - not for me, but it is the fashion.}

3.) 23 Jun 2017 15:41:42
I guess if we had the right players in the fullback positions we'd have more options as they would overlap the wingers, besides we tend to play quite fluid anyway so Mané and Salah won't be contained to their starting positions (except during defensive work) .

4.) 23 Jun 2017 15:48:53
Not for me either, Ed01 as our front 3 are always in motion and movement during games so who btw MS and SM, is in what position is severely temporary as both are lethal from either wing. Regard the Salah signing, I've always said that LFC don't need to splash crazy money on players.

What we need is to pay what is needed to get the right player for our system and if that means breaking the bank for a player like Salah (who is EXACTLY the right player we desperately need) then, go for it and that is what Klopp does, has done and did with Mane, Matip and Wiji last season. Salah is quality and he will be sorely missed at Roma.

Another thing I like about Salah is the way he takes his goals. For a winger or wide man, he has the coolness of a natural goalscorer when he takes his chances. He does not seem to panic nor snatch at a chance at all. He is very calm, collected and shows great composure in front of goal. That to me, is an asset that we need in the first team. Great job getting the deal done and I am chuffed to bits with MS's arrival.

5.) 23 Jun 2017 15:52:19
Its a fair amount of money for a player that didn't settle first time around. I have my doubts about him. I would rather have went for Brandt.

6.) 23 Jun 2017 16:13:44
Hello Ed,
I digress a little, but i have always wondered why it is now the norm for right footed wingers to play on the left (CR) and left footed wingers to play on the right (Messi) . What is the reasoning behind this and why do you disagree (from your last comment)?

{Ed002's Note - It is not the norm but the argument for both Salah and Bernardo Silva is that playing on the right allows them to cut inside and have better options going at goal on their stronger foot - and both have been successful at it.}

7.) 23 Jun 2017 16:36:47
xpertoyin, I suppose it depends what you want your winger to do, are they only good for crossing and assisting? In that case a right footer on the right makes sense and vice versa. But if if they have great finishing and technical ability EG Messi and Ronaldo, you want them to cut inside to get a sight on goal, therefor you want them to be on there best foot when cutting in.

8.) 23 Jun 2017 16:49:47
Thank you Ed002 and AlexDavies.
From all indication, with Salah left footed and Mane right, we have a well balanced first team of wingers. Saying i am excited, is a clear understatement. And the window is not opened officially.

{Ed002's Note - No, Mane is a right winger who is versatile enough to play in the other positions. Salah is not a first choice player but has arrived being versatile as well.}

17 Jun 2017 09:23:46
Reckon we can expect new signings over the next few days, Ed001/ 002 how many deals do you think Klopp was able to nail on during his birthday party?

1.) 18 Jun 2017 00:47:22
My money is on 4 in and a lot of outs.

29 May 2017 17:55:49
Well done Danny Ward! Well done Huddersfield!

01 May 2017 22:02:58
That win was as ugly as they come, great performance from Mignolet in the decisive periods of the game. It must be said that the standard of refereeing was poor tonight which to varying degrees affected both teams, both the linesmen and the referee.

My stream cut out just before Can scored that goal, haven't seen it yet but it sounds good. I think the defensive work was simply effective tonight, Lovren put in a solid performance despite the mild social media outrage reaction to his renewal. If only Sturridge had scored that goal it would have been the icing on a stale fruitcake.

Come on the Reds!

1.) 01 May 2017 22:58:43
Dunno whether to agree or disagree there. I don't think it was ugly at all. We took a lead and then defended really well. In this league there's always a chance a team could come back into it for a spell. Would agree with your thoughts re Sturridge and stale cake icing quote tho. Funny.

2.) 02 May 2017 00:14:37
to be honest, I would start Sturridge in the next game, we are at home, Origi has gone off the boil, so its well worth a shot .

3.) 02 May 2017 08:20:20
It was not an ugly win at all. We had 60% possession, 8 shots on target, hit the post and won most of the duels. We should have scored at least 3 goals, we were that dominant. However, we almost got punished at the end there so the game is made of fine margins if you don't take your chances. A very solid and professional win away from home, is what I would call it.

A question for Eds, not Liverpool related.

How do you view the treatment of the Dortmund first team in terms of the 'postponement' of the game vs. Monaco? Of course they argue that the schedule is tight as it is but it seems to me that it was more for the convenience of sponsors. I am aware that there is a lot of money invested in the CL but there was no apparent acknowledgement that they were dealing with humans.

To me, it was as though they didn't care which Dortmund turned up, just that they'd appear on TV, preferably with 11 players. I'm not even sure that they wanted to postpone it at all.

{Ed001's Note - you have lost me. Dortmund were the ones who were against a postponement. A postponed game has always just been played the next day, ask Man City.}

1.) 13 Apr 2017 09:54:13
Tuchel has stated that the team were not consulted when deciding when to play the game, and thaat the decision was taken in Switzerland.

{Ed001's Note - yes but the precedent had been set so there was no need. Everyone knew the deal and it was Dortmund opposed to postponing things at all. Tuchel is just looking for excuses before the game kicks off. Poor management again from a man who is fast getting a reputation for it. He always tries to be too clever and it cost them last night.}

2.) 13 Apr 2017 12:08:08
Sounds like he'd be a perfect replacement for Wenger! 😏.

3.) 13 Apr 2017 14:20:12
He wouldn't be complaining had they won.
He should keep is mouth shut and be thankful no-one got seriously hurt. What's more important?

4.) 13 Apr 2017 15:06:55
Spot on, Ed. it seems he tries to outsmart everyone and he ends up outsmarting himself. Same thing he did in the EL tie with LFC last season. Klopp was able to change his tactics and he just kept doing the same thing and he got punished for it. I guess he's still doing the same thing.

Any news on whether LFC will offer Klopp an extension on his current 24 month contract with O2?

I'm not concerned with the earlier fees at all as the game has somewhat changed, not just for us but the Premier League. The influx of TV money in the premier league, on top of the additional revenue we will provided by the Champions League (if we qualify) has me fairly chill about this issue. Don't think the club would also sign a CB and LW to cope with the departure of PC and we've been surprisingly quiet this summer with regards to 'Number 10' rumours.

I actually think if he's motivated enough to come he may be able to work out the issues in his game. Many players have seen marked improvements under Klopp so I don't see why we can't expect that to happen in this case. Van Dijk is an excellent footballer, just not so strong with the mental side (concentration is my main concern) of the game but at 25 he clearly has time to improve and who better than Klopp and Co to guide him?

Again, seems to be Bild so I wouldn't take too much note of it. Ed002 says we can make it happen if we want to.

I don't think it's so much about the games Mikey, he made 20 premier league appearances last year, it's getting him ready to start games and keeping it that way.

I really hope we can get a full season out of him this year, as you're absolutely right in the fact it would be like a new signing.

To my knowledge Fencey, Matic's reputation in Europe was established way before he played alongside Kante. I agree with MK to an extent, United have a very strong midfield when they're all fit. I still have hope that we will sign Keita as he will complete our midfield and is perfectly suited to Klopp's style, although I'm sure we'll remain competitive without him.

Ed002 has been clear that Coutinho and Keita are not linked and that should Coutinho leave the club may well look towards Meyer as a replacement.

Is Trent Alexander-Arnold not good enough competition? I don't see an urgent need to spend money on a RB now when we have TAA and indeed Milner who could both push Clyne for the spot next year.
