Hearing on news - a three man Barcelona delegation arriving in London to try to complete a deal with Liverpool for couts. Does anyone know anything on this?

steviep62

1.) 09 Aug 2017 15:35:54
They've been on their way for days, are they travelling by Southern Trains?

2.) 09 Aug 2017 16:03:44
Connex Southeastern.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 16:28:53
hitch Hiking more like.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 16:30:27
They must be swimming over ;-)

5.) 09 Aug 2017 16:34:02
I've heard hot air balloon was their favourite mode of transport. that way western union can sponsor the balloon.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 16:46:24
I think we should refuse them entry if they come with 2 or 4 men instead.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 17:26:50
They're coming on rolerskates n one of em has lost a wheel. but truthfully they could be coming to talk about Hazard or Dele Ali not just Coutinho.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not the case.}

8.) 09 Aug 2017 17:53:43
OP, that is not true. The Barcelona delegation went to Dortmund to negotiate for Dembele, per Bild.

9.) 09 Aug 2017 19:41:15
They arrived in London this morning.

10.) 09 Aug 2017 21:01:48
I was in Southend today and I saw three blokes wearing sombreros climbing up onto the pier. They asked me if I'd seen the little magician. I had to tell them that Paul Daniels had sadly died. Last I saw they were all sitting on a bench in tears drinking Sangria from brown paper bags. Could that have been them?

11.) 09 Aug 2017 22:59:39
Ings n things, I've been reading the site for six years and I think that might just be the funniest reply I have ever seen on here. 😂😂.

12.) 10 Aug 2017 15:55:20
Let me make this clear. I hate chelsea. But, hazard performed better than coutinio last season. Why are Barcelona not interested in him? To compare Ali to coutinio is ridiculous, Phil is 3 times the player Ali is atm.

Eds- just read bild are saying lfc have a planb to keita - goretzka? Heard anything about this? Thanks.

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - No sorry.}

1.) 20 Jul 2017 21:02:45
That would be an outstanding plan b!

2.) 20 Jul 2017 21:40:07
If keita doesn't happen which looks highly likely I don't think we will sign a CM.

We will keep Can if Keita isn't coming and our midfield options will be Coutinho, Henderson, Wij, Lallana, Can and Grujic. We could even move Firmino into an attacking midfield position and drop Coutinho even deeper and use Solanke, Origi or Sturridge upfront as the central striker with Salah and Mane outwide.

Exciting options from midfield going forward.

Don't see how we need a CM unless we know Henderson injury is serious and will return this year. His energy did go a miss at times last year.

3.) 20 Jul 2017 22:05:34
We also have Milner.

4.) 20 Jul 2017 22:15:07
hes not half as good as Keita nor as consistent. He's good but Im not sure the point in spending huge money on someone that isn't greatly improving the starting line up. if we don't get keita we should use the money to invest elsewhere.

5.) 20 Jul 2017 23:45:08
He is staying at Schalke FC.

6.) 22 Jul 2017 12:51:25
I agree with Jordz, we aren't trying to sign Keita because we are in need of a cm. We have plenty (unless he is a replacement for couts which I doubt and hope not)
We are trying to sign him because he is one hell of a talent and has a bright future a head of him and we would be stupid not too. One of lfc's philosophies is to buy young talented prospects which will be either be great straight away, or a major future prospect, and he is both xD.

Eds we are constantly linked to vvd although what i read on here, that seems very unlikley. Have we ever shown interest in Ake of chelsea? i've been very impressed with him when i've seen him and with gomez could make a good young partnership. just my thoughts. Thanks.

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown interest in Ake Stevie.}

1.) 28 May 2017 14:44:41
Do you think there's a decent chance of this one happening Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Should have said "not" - there is no chance whatsoever.}

2.) 28 May 2017 16:34:33
Brutal haha.

3.) 28 May 2017 17:50:15
Ok ed thanks.

13 May 2017 08:58:29
Ed02 if i can ask you about reports linking us with bertrand again- yiu were very strong on him when he left chelsea- anything in the rumours? Thanks.

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - I think he would be a great choice Stevie but I am not aware of interest being shown by Liverpool at this time. He would however be a far better solution at this level compared to untried youngsters.}

1.) 13 May 2017 10:14:18
Thanks ed - agreed with you when he was available last time agree with you again now. Any new links ed? Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - There is an update in respect of Luan following a representative of Luan having said that the player has refused to sign a new contract in order to be able to force a move to England where he will get the wages he deserves - which is rather ironic as an offer from China at the end of 2015 failed due to significant wage demands from the player's representatives - who I would advise clubs to be very wary of, particularly as the player has complex thir party ownership with his agents and various others (not identified) owning nearly 35% of the player's economic rights. If Liverpool now want to push ahead with a transfer that needs to be addressed first as they have only recently been trying to prove no wrong-doing in the transfer or another player and will not want to be embroiled in any potential further issues.

2.) 13 May 2017 10:41:20
How come 3rd party ownership is acceptble in some leagues but not others? Are FIFA trying to get a consistent approach?

3.) 13 May 2017 10:48:40
They have done what they can to outlaw it but in some countries clubs are dependent on third party ownership to survive - and they have no sources of funds to buy the player rights themselves.}

4.) 13 May 2017 11:20:35
Is this in reference to firmino ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

5.) 13 May 2017 11:40:52
Sorry ed I understand its a complexed situation. We do have a certain level of interest then? Is he a Striker?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, yes.}

6.) 13 May 2017 15:20:33
Cheers ed for the replies.

01 May 2017 13:21:33
Eds any interest still remaining in durmisi real betis left back? Thanks.

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to his club or his agent from Liverpool and generally don't know much about Riza Durmisi although the press has asked him about the interest of Liverpool - of which he said it would be nice but knows nothing of it and is happy where he is. He moved to Real Betis last summer after no interest was shown by Dutch or German sides and the interest of Reading was rebuffed. He is a left wing back - and to the best of my knowledge Real Betis has no interest in selling.}

1.) 01 May 2017 15:36:35
Thanks ed thought id seen somewhere we'd shown interest. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I know he was asked about it in January but I am not aware of any approach - nor was he then.}

2.) 01 May 2017 16:05:38
Ok ed thanks for replies.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Stevie.}

Eds reds ed02 has said for a long time- like it or not- couts has been, through his Agent, been agitating for the Barcelona move for months! Why are so many surprised! ! . If True then get as much as we can and sign as good a replacement as possible.

steviep62

1.) 07 Aug 2017 08:09:18
We don't have time to replace him. Most of the players you mention have already swapped clubs or wouldn't come to us. Can't you see it? Technically the window remain open until 31st. But clubs wouldn't want to sell in the last hour making them impossible to find replacement.
All the likes of Kroos, Isco''s and Disco's ain't happening mate.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 08:14:19
I'm not at all surprised. It simply consolidates my belief that this we are going to struggle. I have absolutely zero confidence in the people running the club to bring anyone in of sufficient quality to make up for the huge loss to the team, given previous form.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 08:39:49
Spot on, Hahaha. We already know that Couts is the one that orchestrated this whole thing and we get that. The issue is that the club is not obligated to play along with this. He signed an extension months ago so why did he sign it if he really wanted to move? This is what I don't understand esp. if the club knew of his orchestration for the move.

We could simply say that you signed a contract hence, you owe us another season. RBL stood their ground regarding so why can't we? Those saying we won't miss him that much afre deluding themselves and learnt nothing from the Suarez and Torres debacle. There are no suitable replacements out there and Lallana is injured. This is another reason why we should definitely NOT sell.

4.) 07 Aug 2017 08:43:37
Hahaha- i don't think i mentioned any names etc Who we could or couldn't sign- not saying i agree etc- just the facts- as ed02 has said for months. As for replaycements- some top players are available. Money talks.

5.) 07 Aug 2017 08:41:20
Quite frankly Mr shankly you should be more like your namesake. Try and be more positive.

23 Jun 2017 19:06:02
Eds reds. Re left back. Ghoulam napoli. i haven't really seen him play. Is he good enough? As i've previously saud i would have bertrand all day, but as there doesn't seem to be interest who do you favour realisticaly?

steviep62

1.) 23 Jun 2017 22:09:51
Never seen him play, MK takes in Serie A as does F, F&F.

2.) 24 Jun 2017 09:11:36
Seen Ghoulam play since his days at St. Etienne, with Napoli and with the Algerian national team. He is a solid LB who has a quality left foot (10 assists last season says it all, really) and would be great with us attacking wise. But his defending is very suspect. However, he is better defensively and offensively than Moreno but that is not saying much either. He would be great in our system provided his defending can be worked on or our system in midfield can help mitigate this defeciency.

10 Jun 2017 08:33:22
Ed02 i still think your correct re our left side - bertrand and brandt. I am very pleased with solankie hope he gets Chance s with grugic and gomez, ojo.

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - Solanke is a player who everyone thinks highly of and could prove to be a greart buy.}

1.) 10 Jun 2017 08:58:52
Christ - a positive post! I'll do a screenshot to get through the next few weeks.

2.) 10 Jun 2017 09:36:41
A couple of my mates are season ticket holders at the Bridge and they rate Solanke extremely highly. Both were really disappointed when he was sold.

3.) 10 Jun 2017 09:36:51
Solanke looks very versatile to me - big, physical and able to hold the ball up well, but also with reasonable pace, good movement and a poachers instinct. I hope he gets given a real chance in the cups and the odd PL game perhaps.

4.) 10 Jun 2017 12:56:44
I hopw he takes his chances.

5.) 10 Jun 2017 09:00:21
ED002. don't you dare get my hopes up on Solanke. I was a big fan of his before, now I'm going to think he is the best youngster to have ever existed :P.

02 Jun 2017 01:38:43
Eds is it possible vvd being wanted is to play centre of lovren and matip in a 3? As luiz does for chelsea?

steviep62

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea.}

23 May 2017 08:45:05
Eds reds. Through different things i haven't been able to get to anfield this season. I haven't seen the defence live, where yiu can watch them without the ball etc.
Why are people saying clynes gone etc yet we - apperently- are not going to sign a cb. Is lovren good enough? When i watch him he looks full of mistakes. can't undersrand the difference.

steviep62

{Ed001's Note - Lovren has good and bad games, on a good day he is excellent, on a bad day he is awful. I would prefer to see Gomez take the spot to be honest.}

1.) 23 May 2017 09:21:12
Listened to the shark pod ed001 and have to say I'm still slightly concerned with our plans for defence.

I agree with you regarding Gomez taking Lovren's spot but as we know, players get injured and we could be back to a lovren / klavan partnership.

Lovren made a couple of glaring errors on Sunday, in the first half, it could have been a penalty and a red card and twice one of their forwards ( can't remember his name) got himself goal side of lovren and should have scored.

{Ed001's Note - we can't do everything in one summer mate. Fullbacks are the glaring weakness, they have to be priority for this window.}

2.) 23 May 2017 09:54:07
We can't afford to have 2 inconsistent CBs
Need to get rid of one of Klavan or Lovren as we can't rely on them to perform well every time.

3.) 23 May 2017 10:02:17
Unless the centre back coming in as a sure fire winner, I actually think keeping consistency with who we have is better van establishing do partnerships as well as new fullbacks.

4.) 23 May 2017 10:13:37
As ed says we can't do everything in one window, quality over quantity and let's push on.

The only thing I would do is keep clyne for another season and look for a CB instead.

5.) 23 May 2017 10:45:32
I think it's a little unfair to criticise the defence this year, it's been near constant change. I'd like to see how they perform when its the same back 4 every week without changing then make a judgement.

6.) 23 May 2017 12:47:01
True Nevada but going off the injury records this season it doesn't you with hope that they will play together every week.

7.) 23 May 2017 14:10:18
Thanks ed1 so you think gomez is ready? I hope so. Hoping to see far more of him and grujic. I would go for karius in goal still very confused on the full backs.

{Ed001's Note - the only way to find out if Gomez is ready is to try him.}

8.) 23 May 2017 15:34:34
Lovren is quite simply awful, constantly charging out from the back to win a header further up the pitch leaving a gaping hole in the middle of our defence. Look at the penalty incident on Sunday the lad runs off him while he's ball watching, he could of cost us champions league football with his incompetence. Stunned he was given a new contract and pay rise.

9.) 23 May 2017 20:11:42
You and I on the same page Waro.
This is not just this season, he has been awful since he joined and this should have been already addressed imo .

It wasn't just the penalty incident, twice their forwards got goal side of him and should have scored on both occasions.
